Critical role event, just like how dalen's closet is about the day of percalia's wedding and like how there's going to be one about fjorester's wedding, but it's about chetney's funeral
#critical role#cr3#text post#chetney#this is what the liveshow dmed by travis will be#its a trial run funeral so chetney can make sure they do it right#its also him revealing the will early so they can all fight for top spot while he is alive

Jealousy looks very different on Imogen and Dorian. Where Imogen's is fueled by insecurity, Dorian's is fueled by envy.
With Imogen, it is viscous and much like her anger, driven by fear and uncertainty. Imogen is someone who likes having control over the things around her as she so often feels out of control due to external factors like her powers and responsibilities, two things she never actually wanted. She is used to people leaving and always feels it's a personal failing every time they do because she wasn't enough for them to stay. Her mother left first, then her father, then for a while she thought Laudna would too. That insecurity is still there post C3, where even being out of Laudna's sight for a few hours has her catastrophizing.
Imogen clings to her relationships, no matter what happens between them because all that matter is they stay, they can work out the rest along the way. That's why, for a while, there were so many parallels between her relationship with Laudna and her relationship with Liliana. "Maybe we're just fighting change," because she wanted so badly to believe her mother had a good reason for leaving her. "We would embrace the power that we needed- She just did it, you know? And I didn't," because like Relvin she thought that if Laudna gave in, they'd go together, so she wouldn't have to go home to an empty cabin with too much furniture for one person. But she still doesn't know what she can do to ensure the people in her life, for certain, 100% won't leave her again and she can't take those risks.
"Laudna's just living it up with this new person, smiling and laughing like she doesn't even care we had a fight!" "I don't like being on the outside of that, I really don't." She needs stability in a relationship because even when the other person worships the ground she walks on, she fears it not being enough. As a psychic, she has always been able to tell directly what people are thinking and when she can't, that unknown brings frustration and a fear that it's nothing good.
On Dorian, it is far more quiet and buried. It's dirty looks and terse "we'll talk about that later", it's trying to show off when Orym is complimenting someone else. He deeply craves attention but is hesitant to ask for it and scared to get it. Being raised as second heir gave him the complex of a leader as well as the neglect of second in line, never good enough but expected to give up everything regardless.
Dorian's biggest struggle is that he wants too much. He wants a peaceful life, he wants to fall in love, he wants his friends by his side and fun adventures every now and then. He also wants a relationship with his family, to spend time at home without it hurting, he wants freedom but he doesn't want to give up everything to get it because he wants all of it at once. Being raised rich and privileged gave him expectations of things he can get, but he never what he actually wanted.
He was afraid to start living the life he wanted for a long time because he was just waiting for that to be taken away from him. He saw it as out of his hands despite how much he tried to fight it but even with that, every time he is asked, he steps up to the plate as he is expected to. Because Dorian will move heaven and earth for his friends but never for himself. He sees someone else with something and like he said to Caleb, he envies it, because he doesn't think it's something he could actually have.
#critical role#cr3#text post#dorian#imogen#also i could talk for hours on imogen's control issues because it plays into so much of her character#even down to the fear of heights#and “oh i want” before dorian went back to kiss orym more because god does he want#especially things he thinks he can't have and only for 10 seconds at the end of the world can he act on that#i've had enough of 'girlfails' i want to talk about their flaws
