Kid! Cyrus Headcanons

((I have been drawing Cyrus as a child for a bit now and came up with some headcanons, in case I decided to do some Ask blog or something. Frankly, Team Galactic isn’t my favorite villain team (that title belongs to Plasma) but Cyrus is such an interesting dude who has been fleshed out quite a lot in other media outside of the games. So, I figured I’ll just shower some thoughts about our little tinkering space cadet. Please excuse any grammar or spelling mistakes))

Since the whole leak revolving around Cyrus, it’s been alleged that Cyrus happens to be an autistic coded character. Of course, these leaks have been translated from Japanese to English, so I don’t know how accurate this might be, but knowing who Cyrus is and how other characters, like his grandfather, describe him, it does seem like he’s on the spectrum at least. He’s fixated on machinery and spends more time fixing machines than being around others. He also seems highly interested in space, so I can imagine him pouring over books about galaxies and star systems thus giving him inspiration. He has a hard time connecting with other children and is stand-offish for the most part. This would be a huge thing for him as a child, as most children who have autism have difficulty with social interaction. That being said, I am not an expert in this field, but I do agree that Cyrus does land somewhere on the spectrum. Feel free to comment thoughts about this.

His parents are cold and distant. Cyrus has always been seen as a second priority due to one being a workaholic (father) and the other who just couldn’t be bothered (mother). For most of his childhood, Cyrus cannot recall a single moment where his parents were actively supportive nor genuinely interested in his goals or hobbies. It felt suffocating to be trapped inside of a manor with no one to communicate with, let alone go towards for comfort. The wait staff are usually busy with their duties and Cyrus can’t really visit his grandfather due to family drama that’s been kept hidden from him. He’s has zero friends and kids bully him for no reason whatsoever.

He just wants someone to care that he exists.

While at school, Cyrus tries to keep to himself. I say try because he has made attempts to approach other students, only for them to tease and laugh at him. It’s no secret that Cyrus has a ridged, stoic design and he doesn’t emote at all. As a child, his emotions were all over the place. One moment he’s quiet and deadpanned (I personally think of Daria for this) and in another moment he’s more frustrated and anxious due to his own shortcomings or events triggering angry outbursts.

Cyrus has really bad anxiety when talking to people and he’s actively working on it. He hates it, but he desires for some kind of relationship, so he tries anyway. He gets really fidgety and sweaty and ends up backing out to go run into a nearby storage closet.

The only time that Cyrus feels at peace is when he’s tinkering with random machinery. He’s a brilliant kid and machines, funnily enough, are his heart and soul. He pours EVERYTHING into his creations and gets excited about making something new. He just wishes that he could show them off to people without having to be mocked.

Connecting with the prior point, Cyrus finds most of his materials in scrapyards or in abandoned buildings. If the electronics are in good condition, Cyrus will put whatever in his book bag and store it away in his bedroom. His parents don’t know about his secret stash. Not that they would care.

Apart from tinkering, Cyrus loves reading. He’s often in the school library reading most books about engineering, space, and other nonfiction. Storage closet aside, the library is a second peaceful solace.

A messy kid. Always has trouble organizing.

Can be a bit of a know it all, but only when someone questions his intelligence.

Loves chocolate. Idk, he seems like a kid who would love chocolate.

On rare occasions where he visits his grandfather, it fills him with unbridled joy. Like he finds himself coming out of his shell and being able to show his grandpa what he’s been doing, what he’s learning, and shares what he brought. His grandfather is an absolute sweetheart who just happens to be in an unfortunate position. But seeing Cyrus is both wonderful and a heartache.

On very quiet nights, when his parents aren’t around, Cyrus tends to sneak out and just wander. There’s no clear reason why; he just wanders around at a reasonable distance, but it has become a reoccurrence.

Anyway, to answer your question: The character you've drawn here (very well for mspaint i might add!) is none other than Black Ace, who belongs to @zeurelart!

The kind of tournaments you're asking about were/are known as OC Tournaments, or OCTs for short. While I may not have made Black Ace, funny enough, I was a participant in the same tournament, Escape From Nevara! Our characters never crossed paths, though. XD Here's the lil guy I entered, if you're wondering:

Also I HAVE drawn Black Ace before, fighting Chester! (Chester wasn't in Escape From Nevara so this was purely a what-if scenario I drew for funsies.)

Now Chester WAS in another tournament, though it was more an AU of himself. You see, back on dA around the same time was a huge open submission OCT going on called Samurai Duelers League, where you would enter your character (you DID have to change them to match the old samurai-era Japan setting of the tournament though if they otherwise didn't fit, hence the AU) and fight other people who entered, and it wasn't an elimination tournament so you could still fight others even if it was determined you lost.

And while he didn't participate in the tournament as an entrant, Chester as his normal robot self was also in spectator entries as a side character in a tournament named Infractus Fatality!

As for Charlie, I sadly only made him in the last few years or so, well after the OCT scene on dA had largely died. Not to mention I left dA due to their AI bs shortly after I made him, so even if OCTs were still a thing on there I probs wouldn't have stuck around for it. ;w;

But MAN he would've been perfect for OCTs!! I literally made him because I was inspired by watching cool stickman fight animations! And in canon he's a living weapon, he was engineered specifically for combat and blowing stuff up! If there were any characters I could have sent into a situation where they have to fight other characters for survival or a wish or what have you, it should've been him! But alas, I made him way too late.

People still run OCTs on discord and... i think twitter, these days? But idk, I don't really like being on twitter and discord is such a closed off space that discoverability is super low.

But man, I can dream...

I'm not gonna lie to you, Anon.

Birdperson was the vocalist. And still fucking is, so dont question it. There will never be anyone who can top the quality of his solo calls, especially when we were touring..

Even if he had been entitled (which he wasn't), he deserved to be, in my opinion. Guy could bring the house down every night.

What do you thnk about Griefer's michinima? With him turning into a plant and all?

I thought it was a horrible thing to hear .. especially from his father. I remember hearing and seeing him so distraught about it. It was .. the longest two weeks for him.

I felt so bad honestly , and all I could do was watch .. All I could ever give was my support and reassurance that .. Brad— no, Griefer will recover.

Thankfully he did and is doing well now. But the damage was done .. and signs of The Venomshank stayed. Just like how the Ice Shards sticked onto me after … The Ice Dagger.

Now I only hope that the other weilders of the SWORDS are doing well .. I heard the Hero and Shedletsky are working on it.
