One of the most bizarre things to me about the Wednesday show is they looked at a property where the main appeal was how much the family loved each other despite being seen as strange/weird or unconventional, and were like okay, hear me out, what if the family hates each other and also doesn't factor into this story at all except to further manufactured outcast angst. Also, being weird or unconventional in this particular way is bad, Wednesday is bad, and this girl needs to learn to fit in with the more acceptably weird and unconventional people. They also looked at a property that thrived off its difference to the mould and were like lol, that's not gonna fly with our silly little modern audiences, get back in there; guards, dig up the early 2010s trashy YA teen paranormal romance book structure, yeah, yeah the one with the brooding outcast girl and the perky best friend and the love triangle, oh yeah of course with the weird magic school and bullying plot, yeah the one that's been done to death for over a decade that everyone clowned on, yes, yes with the evil boy plot twist you see coming a mile away, and the ignorant/vaguely offensive undertones, I know what I'm doing, I said what I said, bring it here, bring it here, I just need to change literally all of the lore and *forcibly stuffing star shape in square hole* perfect, perfect. Oh and guards, throw in that ugly ass cartoon monster to top it off, yes, I do want it to have big stupid bug eyes or else people might mistake this for an adaptation that cares. Yeah, yeah this is the money shot, *shows picture of the Plants vs Zombies zombie.* And make them use snapchat.
Anyway, the most bizarre thing to me about the Wednesday show is that it could've been good. Why did they do that to her.

i get the sense statius tries to soften the shame of achilles hiding from war in drag by pointing out, every chance he gets in the achilleid, that achilles is so pretty though!
like YES the greatest of the achaeans being forced by his mother to pretend to be a woman is humiliating, BUT have you considered that his own sex and his mother's counterfeit alike becomes him? that as deidamia surpasses her own sisters as the fairest, so does she herself own defeat compared to proud achilles? have you even thought for a SECOND about how plenteous charm remains to him though his manhood brook it not, and he baffles beholders by the puzzle of his sex that by a narrow margin hides its secret?

why are so many readers absolutely convinced that mat's dad is going to get a redemption arc in the show as part of the Return To Emond's Field plotline? he has about 5 lines in the entire book series and is just a knockoff tam who literally doesn't matter to the story AT ALL, they're not going to waste time giving an arc to an extremely minor character when they can barely even squeeze in all the main characters' stuff. not to mention that we really don't need yet another "shitty parent is actually good and their kid has to forgive them because they've Changed" storyline in media in general. not to mention that mat probably won't see his parents again anyway by the end of the show, so there would be no point in delving deeper into them when we could spend the time on, say, tam.

just saw the most painfully unfunny, stupidly mischaracterizing tweet thread about what some guy thinks would make a hilaaaaarious tng season 8 and seeing that he wrote for fucking rick and morty was so vindicating

Do you think evajacks will have babies? If so, how do you envision them as parents?
oh my god i honestly hate it when characters have kids but idk i don't think i would mind.
i mean they might??? it's a possibility but a very slim one in my opinion.
i think they would be okay parents, jacks would have to un-learn a lot of stuff but i think he could be a good dad maybe if he really tried. ehe'd need to have a major redemption arc though for that 😂 but i think eva would be a really nice mom! she just seems like genuinely such a caring person but you never know how people are gonna be as parents.

in general my opinion on fandom is that people can do whatever they want and i don't care, it's their business, but sometimes i encounter stuff that makes me go "leave those characters alone, they don't deserve being involved in that"

How much of The Locked Tomb series would you say one needs to read before one can determine whether the series is Not For One?

I know we all have opinions on s3 me too hut also in episode 1 it's so funny to me Aramis run away to a monarstry and they just give him all the babies like 'this is the perfect fit just burry him in children then he will be a good monk'.
Edit: the tiny conversation where Porthos is like 'boring boring dodiers boring' and Athos is just like. Wheedling and gleeful and knowing Porthos is gonna give in 'we are also musketeers' is great.
And Aramis taking charge of his tiny children and keeping them safe in a cellar is 👌👌👌👌
OK I rlly quite like the musketeers bits of this s3 episode.

sorry i thought i was done with the sanderson-critical wotposting but also
the way multiple people just Release Warder Bonds at dramatic moments in AMOL even though it's been a huge plot point up till then that they can't be undone like what, what, what? like if alanna could simply Release rand why didn't she do it earlier. if egwene could just Release egeanin. the entire point of rand hating the force-bonding of those aes sedai by the asha'man in wot but not being able to Fix it was that.......you can't just Release a bond. why wouldn't more aes sedai just release warders so they don't go mad with grief, why wouldn't, why, did i just miss this,

I forgot to make a post about it til now, but in Onestar's Confession, Tallstar going to the Moonstone to confirm Crowpaw's story and being told by StarClan "yeah he's right, you'll never get your home back so you need to leave" makes me even more exasperated at the plot of Midnight. Already that book baffles me in hindsight because I misremembered it for years — I believed that the journey to Midnight was to not only strengthen bonds between cats of each Clan to help everyone work together, but also to point them in the right direction of a new home because the lake was so far outside StarClan's sight that the Clans needed an outside source of information.
Turns out I was wrong. The whole journey was just so Midnight could tell them to leave their home, and they had to figure out where to go entirely on their own. (Sure they had a shooting star help them out but it's not like StarClan couldn't have predicted that too.) But if we have confirmation by this point (also confirmed in Shadowstar's Life) that StarClan already knew they had to leave, then what was the point of all that??? All they really accomplished was stalling the great journey for multiple books and letting a bunch of cats suffer and die needlessly. I don't agree with the idea a lot of people have that StarClan and all these characters should simply (and uncharacteristically) work together and flawlessly avoid conflict, I like conflict, but I want a reason for it. The case of Midnight is just so unfortunate. It's such a mess that could have so easily been streamlined into something that makes more sense, but it just... wasn't.
