Icebound

icebound definition: surrounded, obstructed, or covered by ice.

In which Zane uses his element against the Overlord to save the city and his friends. Because it wasn’t about numbers, it was about family.

It is the end, and Zane knows it.

The Overlord is conquering Ninjago City, webs of gold stringing across buildings like Christmas lights and tying up his friends like flies. They struggle, but it is useless under the might of the Overlord.

Zane flips out of the way of a golden band reaching to ensnare him and lands on a roof. All of his friends are tied up, and only Zane is free. He knows what he has to do. He is the only one who can.

“Support me, friends. For one last time.”

He takes a running leap off the ledge, and Jay flips midair so his feet plant squarely on top of his. Then Cole, Lloyd, Kai, Sensei Garmadon, and Wu.

He soars, flying straight at the Overlord, and grabs onto his golden fangs.

Immediately, he feels its power, and its agony. Pain rips into every crevice of his body; his jolts rattle and shake and his wires spark under his skin.

“Let my friends go!” Zane shouts.

“Go where, Doomed Ninja?” The Overlord sneers. Its eyes, red and hateful, glare into him.

Zane writhes under the immense pain and power. His body cannot handle it, he knows, and he feels himself falling apart under it.

“The Golden Weapons are too powerful for you to behold. Your survival chance is low.”

But Zane isn’t trying to hold them. He’s trying to destroy them.

He thinks of his brothers. He thinks of PIXAL. He thinks of his father. He thinks of an old man with long white hair as pure as snow and ice blue eyes that visited him a long time ago, who had come and left as quickly as winter did and had breathed that power into him because he saw him worthy of it.

“This … isn’t about numbers … It's about family!”

The golden webs holding the Ninja fall and they escape. He can hear them screaming, telling him to let go, and he thanks them for that. Wu and Garmadon grab onto them and yank them back, away from the oncoming destruction.

His core — his heart — started reaching critical mass. Frost began creeping upon the Overlord’s fangs. Something blue and blinding in his heart freezes under his power, and Zane embraces it. It's his power. His choice.

“I am a Nindroid. And Ninja never quit. Go Ninja … go!”

He is the Master of Ice. He was built to protect those who cannot protect themselves. He stands for peace, freedom, and courage in the face of all who threaten Ninjago.

Frostbite burns his skin away; jolt and wires freeze under the cold; until he is left completely bare.

The last glimpse they get of Zane is him surrounded by a blizzard of his own making, bright and beautiful like a supernova. Burning blue and white with the terrible brilliance of his own determined choice.

Zane died; not as a machine, not as a human, not as a tool of anyone or anything — but as himself. Zane died to save the ones he loves.

And woke up as something completely different.

PIXAL climbs her way up the steep cliff side, careful to place her foot in secure crevices in case she slipped and fell from the icy mountain. Heavy snow blinded her vision as the blizzard whipped around her, but she kept her pace steady and sure.

It had been months since she had left Ninjago City and began her search. Months since Zane’s death and memorial. PIXAL knew, logically, that she should be back there, properly mourning him. But she could not.

He had never given up on her, not when she was under the Overlord’s control or when she was struggling with the newness of emotions.

And that meant she could never give up on him.

When she had first met Zane, she became more than a machine meant to function. He was vital to her, and she was a part of him.

She carried half his heart, and against all logical explanations, she knew he was still alive.

She did not tell the Ninja of her suspicions: the immediate aftermath of Zane’s loss had been devastating. She’d watched as the team fractured, splitting at the seams as they all fled their separate ways, too heartsore and dizzy with grief to do much otherwise. She did not tell Cyrus Borg where she was going either, for she knew if he begged her to stay, she would.

If she had told them she had seen a snowy wraith emerge from the destruction of the frozen, apocalyptic atmosphere on the rooftop, she would have been told she had imagined it due to her grief.

And while she was grieving, she was not imagining it. She is a Nindroid, and she did not have an imagination. PIXAL was built to observe, to analyze, to collect data and gather information. She built theories and hypothesized, not assumed.

So she followed the signs. She kept track of all weather anomalies that happened across Ninjago — sudden snowstorms, cold drops in temperatures that swept through small villages and towns. It led her all across the country until it ended here, with her climbing up the frozen, snow-peaked mountain.

Finally, PIXAL arrived at her destination.

The Ice Temple.

Slowly, she makes her way towards it. Her sensors indicate the temperature dropping the closer she gets. For a normal human, they would have already gotten frostbite without the proper equipment and numb with it, but PIXAL was made of metal. The cold did not bother her.

She peers into the glacial architecture, but does not enter. Or more like, she is unable to. It feels as if there is some sort of force of winter that is keeping her at bay.

“Zane?” Hope finds its way into the desperation of her voice. Freezing winds whip her hair out of its ponytail and against the purple circuits on her cheeks, but she barely notices. “Is that you?”

There’s nothing except for the howling wind, then her eyes catch movement. Slowly, almost like a ghost, a figure starts to come closer, making a shape against the blizzard.

If PIXAL had lungs, all the air would have rushed out of them.

A being made of pure winter floated in front of her. Formed of ice and frost and molded by the wind, it stood there and looked at her. Opaque ice carved the face that has been imprinted in her memory drives, the one she had traveled across the entire world to see again.

It was frozen, and beautiful, and Zane.

Inside her neural drive, alarms were blaring into her system, flashing behind her eyes. Warning: Severe weather alert. Temperature reaching sub-zero levels. Retreat into a warmer climate —

PIXAL shut off the notifications.

“Hello,” she says. Zane does not move. She dares a step closer. “Do you recognize me?”

He says nothing, so PIXAL continues on. It feels like their roles were reversed when they first met: she, the one struck speechless by the other’s beauty. Him, stoic to it all.

“I’m PIXAL, the Primary Interactive X-ternal Assistant Lifeform. I’m a … friend. I came searching for you to bring you home. There are things about you that you don’t understand. That you have yet to discover. I am here to help you remember.”

Zane is quiet, but she senses that he is listening. Something glowing in her chest aches.

“It is alright if you don’t remember me,” PIXAL says. She cannot cry, but is she would she could. She is still new to emotions, and many are overwhelming her: joy and grief and something fierce and pure deep in her heart. “I remember you. And we are still compatible.”

Zane tilts his head and drifts closer. The snow slows its fall, the wind stopping altogether. Snowflakes gently coat her hair. Now that he is closer, she can see the differences that make him unlike the old Zane: he doesn’t have the one dimple on the right side of his cheek, or the small beauty mark on his collarbone, or the tiny scar on his index finger from his shuriken.

But he is still Zane, even as an icy spirit.

She held out a hand. “Your brothers miss you very much. Will you come back with me, Zane?”

He is silent, staring at her. Unlike before, it is impossible to know what he is thinking. She gazes up at him, imploring. His eyes have no irises or pupils, so she is simply staring up at pinpricks of pure blue light.

Slowly, his hand reaches out of her.

BANG!

A loud sound echoes across the ice, and out of nowhere chains of Vengestone come flying out and capture him.

Fear slams into her. “Zane!” PIXAL cries.

Ice races out from his body and across the chains as Zane struggles, but no matter what, he can’t break them.

PIXAL whips around to face the assailant.

A man in his thirties, wrapped in a thick parka to prevent the cold and wearing a red mask. He has shoulder-length brown hair and is wearing a dyed red straw hat, and under it she can see he is hiding an eyepatch.

“What are you doing?” PIXAL shouts. Anger — an emotion she rarely feels — burns through her.

The man lowers his gun and pulls out another one before she can even blink.

“Sorry, sweetheart. Just following orders.”

Before she can question what that means, he fires. A net tangles her limbs together and brings her down against the cold snow. Before she can fight against it, electricity courses through her.

And then everything went black.

Ninjago - Ninjas Having a Nightmare Where You Die

Zane

In the dream, you guys had been on a mission together

He calculated the exact amount of time it would take to escape the enemy base, which was set to lock down and then self destruct, and even left you with a timer so you'd know when to get going

He went ahead to clear the way and prepare the Bounty for pickup, trusting you to make it out in time

His calculation was wrong. The bounty was sent soaring with the shock of the massive explosion, and he watched in horror knowing you were still inside

He woke up with a start, frantically looking around the room

He realized that it was a nightmare, but he was still worried

Seeing you sleeping by his side, he let out a sigh

He just watched you for a while, thinking about the dream

He didn't want to wake you; you just looked so peaceful

Besides, your serenity was infectious; he began to relax as he watched your chest rise and fall

He quietly resolved to never, never, make such a mistake; he'd have to start double-checking his work

A little smile found his lips when he decided this, and he gradually lowered himself back onto the bed

He'd keep you safe, no matter what

Safe, like you were beside him now, with his arm draped over you protectively

Cole

The dream was actually a good dream at first

You were eating ice cream together in your favorite parlor in Ninjago

Cole was eating the best ice cream he ever tasted, and he was saying as much to you

He was completely distracted, so he didn't notice the suspicious group entering the parlor

Before he knew it they had attacked, leaving you on the floor while they ran away

He dropped to the ground, dumbfounded, horrified, watching the light fade from your eyes

His eyes flew open, and he found himself whispering your name

You woke up, turning over with a little groan to see what was wrong

He let out a loud sigh when he saw your face, and he hugged you close to his chest, planting a kiss atop your head

"Nothing. Nothing... just a nightmare."

"Mmm... okay... love you."

"I love you too."

He feels a lot better when you're in his arms, and he's able to dismiss the whole ordeal as a silly dream that he'd never let happen in reality

Kai

In his dream, you were both being attacked by a group of really strong adversaries

Kai was held back by just one of them, forced to his knees and unable to move

He was forced to watch as they executed you, completely powerless

He screamed and writhed, but it was all futile

He awoke in a cold sweat, shouting your name while he flew out of bed

You jumped out of bed too, assuming something was happening

When he saw you, he ran to envelop you in his arms

He squeezed you tight, tears falling down his face while he whispered into your shoulder

"I'm sorry... I—I wasn't strong enough..."

"Kai, what are you talking about? Are you okay?"

He doesn't say anything, but you can guess it was a nightmare

You hug him back, reassuring him that everything was fine

You tell him that he's strong, and at first he shakes his head, but he nods a little when you insist

Once he's fully reassured, he swears to always protect you, and holds you close while you fall back asleep

Jay

You were both fending off villains on a perilous cliffside

Failing miserably, you were forced to the very edge, and one final blow sent you over, plummeting to the hard rocks below

Jay dove over the edge, grabbing your wrist with one hand and holding the cliff with the other

But his hands were sweaty with nerves, and you began to slip

You pleaded for your life, begging Jay to hold on tighter

He awoke just before you hit the ground

He sat up with a start, looking around frantically

He shook your shoulder violently when he saw you

"Y/n! Y/n!!'

"Wha? Jay??"

"Oh thank goodness you're alive!!"

He describes the dream in detail, quivering at the memory

You bring his head to rest on your chest while you listen, nodding sleepily while he talked

He wonders anxiously aloud if something like that would ever actually happen

You have to reassure him that it was only a dream, and it'd never happen in real life

When he's finally calmed, he thanks you quietly

You feel tears beginning to stain your pajamas, and you run your fingers through his hair gently to calm him

The softness of the moment puts you both back to sleep :]

Lloyd

He dreamed that you had been captured by an Oni, one who particularly hated Lloyd

He was trying to rescue you, stealthily sneaking into the Oni's camp

But the Oni saw him, and a disgusting smirk grew on its face

He made eerie eye contact while grabbing you by your collar and forcing you to look at Lloyd

He executed you on the spot, laughing when Lloyd began to scream

He awoke with his heart racing and his breathing ragged

He whipped his head to the side, sighing loudly when he saw your peaceful face

The commotion he made roused you, and you smiled tiredly when you met his eyes

Then, noticing that he was distressed, you asked what was wrong

He described the dream in short detail, but you could tell it bothered him

So you nuzzled into his chest, assuring him that it was only a dream

He agrees with you, but he doesn't believe it until he's sure that you're really there

He runs his hands through your hair, around your back, down to your hands, and finally to cup your cheek before he's convinced

Then, planting a kiss on your lips, he's finally able to go back to sleep

Nya

In the dream, you were caught in a trap

The trap was a metal room, its walls set to grow closer together until whatever was inside was crushed

Nya was outside the room, panicking as she tried to navigate the trap's inner workings

She cut wires, smashed buttons, flipped switches—but none of it worked

She knew she failed when you let out one final shout and then went quiet

When she awoke, tears were already streaming down her face

But when she noticed you at her side, she threw her arms around your chest

You awoke, smiling at first and wrapping your arms around her waist in turn

But you frowned when you felt her quivering, as well as the dampness of her eyes

"Woah, hey, what's wrong?"

"I... just a horrible dream... stupid, really."

Nya sniffed, wiping her eyes and trying to smile for you

You knew that you couldn't coax anything out of her that she didn't want to share, so you just held her, telling her how much you loved her

Eventually she admitted what the dream was about, and you told her that it was totally unrealistic

She giggled a little at that, agreeing that she'd never fumble like that in real life

So, with satisfied smiles on both of your faces, you drifted back off to sleep

☆ ┈ You lunge at him like crazy as soon as you see him, but he disappears at any moment before you can hit him. He doesn't have time to attack either, because you quickly notice him and attack first.

☆ ┈ Maybe you'll even make a wish in a fit of rage? If so, here are my couple of ideas:

☆ ┈ Your first wish would be that Nadakhan could not harm Nya in any case, the second wish is that he would lose his mind with every minute that you spend in the Djinn Blade.

☆ ┈ Your fight continues, there is no equal, but as soon as Nadakhan approaches other ninjas with a sword, you realize that you will not be able to win by force.

☆ ┈ And so, when Lloyd wishes for the sword and Jay and Nya escapes, you will be the one who wishes for it all to go away. If Cole screams in fright, falling into the Djinn Blade, Lloyd is silent with acceptance, then you, leaving your body, cursing Nadakhan, promising him that you will return for his soul.

☆ ┈ Nya and Jay are distraught and mourn for you and others for disappearing, and although Jay is mostly concerned about protecting Nya, she is herself wonders if you've always been so fierce, or if she just doesn't remember...

JAY:

☆ ┈ Skybound again! But, now a little changed, 'cause now all attention is on Jay.

☆ ┈ Maybe you show your dark side was the moment when the ninjas made their way to the pirates to free Jay?

☆ ┈ While Cole went to Nadakhan's cabin to put poison in his drink, you stayed on deck to guard the territory. And, after a while, you notice that some sounds are coming from the chamber in the wooden floor.

☆ ┈ What was your surprise when you looked in there and saw Jay!

☆ ┈ After making sure that no one is around, you tear down the grate and get Jay out, helping him remove the chains from the stone of revenge. You take him to the airship, hoping that Cole will be able to get out on his own, while Jay tells you what happened to him.

☆ ┈ An unrealistically loud and annoying scream interrupted your thoughts, and you feel that Monkey Wretch is attacking you.

☆ ┈ At first, you barely tried to tear it away from your face, while his iron fingers dug into your skin, as if wanting to tear your face off, and just the memory that this same monkey belongs to those who tormented Jay makes you furious.

☆ ┈ You growl crazily and, squeezing the body of the iron monkey, tear off its iron arm and throw it off, jumping up before it can attack you again and kick it in body.

☆ ┈ Hitting it with your foot, you seem to have damaged some kind of mechanism, which made it scream even more deafening. The pirates nearby obviously heard you...

☆ ┈ In all the time that you weren't locked in the Djinn Blade, you were fighting for Jay. You fought for him and nothing else. And yet, in the end, you were also locked inside when Nadakhan stabbed you with a blade right in front of Jay, which would have hurt him even more instead of waiting for you to make a wish.

☆ ┈ You didn't remember anything. Just like the others, except for him and Nya. Jay was mentally crazy about it, but what hurt him even more, he didn't know how to thank you.

☆ ┈ You fought for him. You were protecting him. You gone for him. You showed your ferocious side, you bled your hands and tore off your nails just to make sure he was okay.

☆ ┈ And yet, you don't remember anything.

☆ ┈ He wants to thank you. He wants to, but he doesn't know how. At some point, you will start to notice that he stares at you in silence for a long time with a gloomy face.

☆ ┈ When you go up to him to ask what happened, he rushed at you with hugs, muttering something to himself.

☆ ┈ You protected him once. Now he will protect you.

KAI:

☆ ┈ Tournament of Elements(season 4) sounds suitably.

☆ ┈ It's hard to be together when you have to fight each other..

☆ ┈ You notice that because of Kai's short-tempered personality, he has a lot of problems and try to stand up for him. Of course, other Elemental Masters don't like it.

☆ ┈ Someone just silently dislikes you, someone mocks you, and some openly hate you.

☆ ┈ Are you trying to do something about it? No, as long as no one gets into a fight.

☆ ┈ But if you generally don't care what your rivals think of you, then Kai is annoyed by the harsh comments of others in your direction.

☆ ┈ You are a ninja, you are teammates, it's okay to stand up for each other! Kai will soon start arguing with anyone who mentions your relationship with him, and this leads to the fact that many of the Elemental Masters can not stand him. The other ninjas can't stop him either.

☆ ┈ One day Chamille made a joke on you by making a pointed comment about your victory over one of the Element Masters, and Kai stood up for you. Caught up in the argument, Chamille hit Kai..

☆ ┈ You might have had problems if Chen hadn't thought it was funny, so you were just reprimanded and ordered not to fight Chamille outside the trials.

☆ ┈ It gets worse. We all know what a cunning bastard Chen is, right? He decided that it was worth putting Kai against you in a duel.

☆ ┈ You just gave him this victory. Worthy. You didn't even try to gain the upper hand, you just did something for show. After that, Kai will be devastated until the very time when the ninja will supposedly prevail over Master Chen.

☆ ┈ Just know that after you succumbed to him, he became no better than you when you are furious, just as murderous and harsh. It actually helps in battles, but otherwise it doesn't.

☆ ┈ Any rudeness towards you or an attempted attack causes him to explode on the enemy, behaving as if he were not a ninja, but a gladiator.

☆ ┈ Maybe the action takes place in season 3? It sounds appropriate, there are other nindroids out there hunting him.

☆ ┈ If seriously, your reaction is understandable. Imagine that your friends are constantly arguing, no one listens to you in dangerous situations except Zane, and his evil clone is hunting him.

☆ ┈ Just wonderful. No kidding, Cryptor is your worst enemy this season. You are determined to keep him away from Zane, and he is annoyed by your defense of the nindroid.

☆ ┈ The Mechanic, by the way, could also be suitable. I remember that in the sixth season, he attacked Zane, trying to steal his parts, and I'm pretty sure the reader would have attacked him. In other words, it's hard for you.

☆ ┈ If we take place for the story, I think it would be a great solution to take the scene of the battle of Zane and Cryptor.

☆ ┈ Blow after blow is applied to the body of the ice ninja, he barely manages to block some of them. Cryptor laughs grimly and prepares to strike again, when suddenly he is blown off his feet by a whirlwind of Spinjitzu.

☆ ┈ You stand in front of Zane, glaring at the Cryptor with fury in your eyes, before pouncing on him, pushing him with such force that he falls away against the fence of the tower and almost falls down.

☆ ┈ Instead of letting him fall, you grab him and throw him into the wall of the tower, significantly damaging him. He's still conscious, but he can't move because of a malfunction in the system.

☆ ┈ You're ready to pounce on him again to make sure he doesn't get up again, but a cold hand on your shoulder stops you.

☆ ┈ You turn around and see Zane, the damage on his robotic body is clearly visible, especially on the front part, where he has a view of the endoskeleton and a pair of protruding wires.

— He's had enough.

☆ ┈ The soft tone of his voice calms you down, and you decide to leave the Cryptor alone. At least for now. You prop up his shoulder, using yourself as a support, and lead him to other ninjas. He limps, but walks with you in time, trying not to slow down.

— Thanks. I was sure that I would fall apart..

☆ ┈ You smile at him and nod, leading him further forward. He decided to keep silent about how you behaved..strangely. Perhaps you should prepare for conversation about it.

COLE:

☆ ┈ I think season 13 sounds suitable.

☆ ┈ Why? Two words: Skull Sorcerer.

☆ ┈ You go crazy when Vania tells the ninja about what happened to Cole. Like Kai, you absolutely intend to go to Shintaro's Dungeon, and after the ban you begin to treat Vangelis with distrust.

☆ ┈ You can't help but get a distracted in your minds because you worry about Cole most of the time.

☆ ┈ ..And when you and the ninja are captured and meet Cole and creatures unknown to you, who are forced to extract an unknown substance, the situation does not get better.

☆ ┈ But hey, let's move events to the point where you get wild and go to break Vangelis bones.

☆ ┈ Cole is sitting on his lap, thinking about his promise to his mother. Skull Sorcerer towers over him, taunting him and almost ready to finish him off.

☆ ┈ You, distracted by the battle with the Awakened Warriors, notice how Cole is being tortured. Your astonished gaze turns furious in an instant.

☆ ┈ After destroying another Awakened, you throw yourself at the Skull Sorcerer with an angry scream. He attacks you with the Skull of Hazza D'ur, but that doesn't stop you, and despite the pain, you run further at him.

☆ ┈ With a swing, you punch Skull Sorcerer in the chest, throwing him back. He shouts at you uncomprehendingly and attacks you again with the Skull of Hazza D'ur, but nothing changes. Using a Spinjitzu, you throw him back, growling with hatred.

☆ ┈ Realizing that you are not get harmed of the Skull, he attacks you by himself, forcing you to recoil, stunned by the unexpected attack.

☆ ┈ You fall, but quickly recover and prepare to attack further…

☆ ┈ Cole sweeps around you with amazing speed, he is surrounded by a stream of powerful energy, which even you are not able to resist. In the blink of an eye, the Skull Sorcerer falls into the stream, and the Skull is destroyed, turning the Awakened Warriors and Grief-Bringer into bunch of bones.

☆ ┈ The flow of energy leaves Cole, and he falls down with a painful face, left exhausted. You run up to him, catching him before he can fall. Looking at you, a faint smile appeared on his face, and he gently took your hand with his trembling palm.

Details:

Eclipse:

Takes place after crystallized, the ninja have recovered their powers and got back to the status quo.

Rumors start spreading on the Internet that Kai is actually useless because he's never defeated a supervillain on his own. Kai gets insecure about his worth to the rest of the team, acting more and more rashly out of the need to prove himself. However, everyone else thinks he's overreacting for attention, so in a mission with Lloyd and Nya, after trying too hard and messing up, they snap at him, thinking he just wants to regain his popularity disregarding people's safety.

Much later, Kai is injured on a solo mission and is saved by a mysterious woman (the villain) who secretly aims to manipulate him to turn against the ninja and Ninjago as a whole, taking advantage on his past hardships as a child and his current mixed feelings towards them. She uses dark magic (sort of like Clause) to take and amplify what little is left of the corruption from Chen's elements staff into a mask, to slowly make his own thoughts turn against them all, eroding him from inside out.

At first she convinces him to become a kind of vigilante, killing criminals who might have used him in the past under said mask as Akatora ("Red Tiger"), steadily growing more corrupted.

Once the ninja discover Akatora's true identity, they believe he's being forced to betray them and try to "save" him, which only angers Kai further for not realizing how badly they've treated him.

But when they realize that they're at fault, the team splits in two: Cole, Jay and Pixal can't see a way of saving Kai on time before he self-destructs and takes the entire city down with him; while Lloyd, Nya and Zane try to get him back at all costs.

At first, the villain didn't care which elemental master to use to get the ninja to destroy the city. But upon finding out more about Kai's past, she decides the Ninja are no good for him and wants to "save" him, to get him out of that toxic environment. She even confronts them more than once after taking him under her wing. However, later on she changes her mind...

I have many more details but this is all I'll say for now. I want to make it a realistic and morally grey season where neither the ninja nor Kai are the villain, because the ninja do love Kai, they just have to show it. Also Kai's corruption is going to be slow where you don't really know how of it is Kai's true intentions.

On the road:

This AU is set years after Kai and Nya's parent's disappearence. Despite still living at the blacksmith off Kai's odd jobs, the siblings are fairly neglected by the townspeople of Ignacia. After getting seriously beat up in a fight with some kids who had been passive-agressively bullying Kai for years, they go a little too far by almost killing him and threatening to do the same to Nya. Kai is forced to abandon the hope of their parents ever returning and leaves for Ninjago City with Nya, hoping for a better life.

After travelling for a while they stumble across Ronin. They somehow convince him to take them in for a while in his rudimentary shed and to teach Kai how to hunt and be more self-sufficient for the journey. In the meantime, Nya shows off her handiwork, making toys off scraps for Ronin to sell as thanks. When they decide to part ways, Ronin gives them a map, setting them on the right direction (he's no babysitter, but hey, he actually cared).

Days later, Nya finds a hungry and weary Lloyd along the way, lost after escaping Darkleys and looking for his uncle Wu. After some convincing from Nya, they agree to take him in and start travelling together, eventually bonding and becoming a found family.

The Au is mostly about their (fun) little adventures and Kai being an overstressed mom trying to keep their younger siblings alive and relatively out of trouble (but don't worry, he's actually enjoying it).

In the end, after having taken their shot in Ninjago, they find Wu and are taken in at the monastery. Yes, Wu is actually a good uncle here. They deserve it. Especially Kai.

What Have I Done? - A retrospective of my experience with MDD, largely about the events that occurred. Considering this story is ongoing and personal, you will see mostly vague or shitposts about this.

Break Beak - Another world where people get different powers, this time based on objects. Alexander, the main character, is seemingly cursed to have every single bad thing to him. His house burns down, he has many disabilities and many targets on his head. On the other hand, his friend-by-insistance, Lucia, suffers alongside him, with having a broken mirror as her Tool, she too finds herself stunted in growth and very fragile. However, she has enough positivity for both of them. This is still in process, after multiple years, but mainly follows their escapades and narrow escapes from the scheming government and strange foes as they navigate the world.

Slick Mouse - Zorzi, the harvest mouse, and Vincenzo, the house mouse, both find themselves working office jobs to support their families. One night, they are both working overtime when water starts flooding in. They rush to the rooftop, where the two of them finally speak for the first time. They decide to work together to escape post-apocalyptic ¾-sunken Venice to find their families. Along the way they encounter other animals, and hear news of the impending doom they face as a nuclear reactor the humans left on begins to decay, threatening to go out with a bang. They change their focus to this, seeing as no one else seems to be brave enough. These mice are trying to save the world the humans left behind, just like many great mice before them.

i see people asking what morro's appeal to the fandom is, and after some thought, i think i realised what it is.

it's the tragedy of his entire story, from start to finish. the helplessness of it all, the grief, the longing, the parts of your past that haunt you forever (ghost pun not intended).

you look at morro and you don't see the big scary monster that the writers painted him as. you see a boy, a child, who spent his entire life pursuing one single goal that was just barely out of reach. you see a child who died for that goal suffocated in toxic fumes, who lost his home and family and safety for that goal.

we don't know why he was cursed. but as if he hadn't been through enough agony, as if the world hadn't broken this child enough, he wound up in a realm flooded with evil. his mind couldn't handle the trauma of what happened. as if he wasn't fixated enough, his desire became stronger.

he wanted nothing more than to prove himself.

you can see it in the way he talks and acts. he doesn't care about taking over. he doesn't care about the preeminent's goals. if anything, dying in that cave on that night made him all the more determined to prove himself worthy.

he had so much anger, so much terrible sadness in him that he didn't know what to do with it. he had to blame someone. the only person he could reasonably reflect his agony onto was sensei wu, the only man to ever help him.

he came back to ninjago years and years later. the person who got the green gi was no more than a little boy, who had never been trained like he was. who never spent years and years of his life pursuing this goal, dedicating everything to it. hell, he didn't even want it?

even his defeat was tragic. you can see him panicking, doing everything he can to escape destiny. destiny will always wrap its chains around him once more though, because he was finally dragged down to the depths. once more, he would fail his goal. once more, he would watch everything he dedicated himself to simply fade away before his very eyes.

he could have saved himself. he could have taken wu's hand, dragged himself onto that dragon and started a new life.

but he didn't want to. i love the “morro takes wu’s hand and redeems himself” aus as much as the next person, but he didn't want to. he made the active decision to shove the crystal in wu's hand and let death take him once more.

because in the end, he'd lost so much that living wasn't worth it anymore. his goal was never going to be achievable. he was never going to be truly happy. he never learned how to stop and appreciate life, how to love himself and reach his true sense of self like the rest of the ninja.

he died before he could reach his true potential, guys. that dragon was not his, it was lloyd’s. he died before he even got the chance.

unlike the ninjago villains both before and after him, morro has genuine emotion and life to his story. he's not bad for the sake of being bad. he's not just another enemy for lloyd garmadon to defeat. he's a kid who got in over his head, who wasted away trying to break free of his own fate. and he failed.

if anyone reading this has seen day of the departed, then you know morro came back only long enough to warn sensei wu of what was coming for him. the other villains immediately picked up their weapons and scurried off to cause mayhem for the sake of it, but morro was different. he changed. he let go of his grief and accepted his role in the world.

he helped the ninja despite his prior hatred for them (although i truly believe it was jealousy fueled by insecurity and grief, not hatred). sure, he taunted wu a little at first, but you could tell that it was nothing more than a little fun. he was a boy again, he was okay again. there was no reason for him to hurt anyone. he's moved on.

no one knows what happened to him in the departed realm, or why he healed and the other villains didn't. i don't think i want to know, though. it doesn't matter. all that matters is the fact that he's better now.

so, yes. unlike the other ninjago villains, morro’s story is so painfully and breathtakingly human. he has emotion and development that no other antagonist like him got to have. or at least, it certainly didn't feel as raw as his did.

NINJAGO DRAGONS RISING SEASON 2 PART 1 SPOILERS!

So, after seeing Jay in part one of season 2, I began to wonder how Jay could become a villain, as many people have theorized (I love these theories so much, I would love to see him have a villain arc!).

Here's how I think it could happen with what we know about Jay now (sort of told in a story form....I'm a fanfic writer, so that's my default lol):

Jay was used to emptiness. Ever since he lost his memories, there was a void inside of him, a void created by not knowing. Not knowing who he was before the Merge. Not knowing his favorite color. Not knowing what he was like. Not knowing if anyone out there loved him. Not knowing if he even liked himself.

It was a numbing feeling, like staying still while the world moved around him, like being left behind as everyone moved ahead. He couldn't feel anything with that emptiness, that numbness in his heart. Perhaps feelings were something one gained from knowing who you were. Knowing where you came from. Knowing who loved you.

He pretended he could feel, that his world wasn't numb inside, and it worked to the people around him, but he could never trick himself.

Nothing in the Administration could fill that void. Nothing could make him feel much of anything. He tried to fill the void with paperwork, and then videogames, yet nothing could make him feel like there was something in him. That there was something about his life worth celebrating. Nothing made him feel like he was a person, someone with a history, someone people could like. Nothing made him feel real. Everyone at the Administration just treated him like another worker, which he guessed he was, and the emptiness grew.

The emptiness got bigger when he discovered that he could control lightning. He found that he had all that power, so much strength, yet no one to celebrate it with. Which made the power useless, didn't it? He couldn't use it in the Administration or else he could get terminated, he couldn't tell anyone, he couldn't do anything with it. It became just as useless as everything else about him, the him now and most likely the him from before.

The excitement he had felt soon disappeared, along with the worry. There was nothing he could do about it, and the numbness returned.

When he met that skeleton-person when the Administration was sent to find the machine known as Zane, Jay felt something change in him. The person had looked at him with confusion when he spoke up, and showed some care to how he felt about the job he was in. Sure, she was probably just trying to escape, but her words filled the emptiness, made him feel like a person, that there was something more to him that just a member of the Administration. And when he saw himself, dressed in something close to a ninja gi, in the yellow orbs reflection, he felt confusion and awe, the void filling once again.

It was in that moment that he wanted the void filled completely. He didn't want to live as an empty shell anymore. He wanted to be a person, someone more than an agent. And he hungered for it.

He was tired of being empty. He wanted to feel again. He wanted to be someone.

So, he escaped the Administration, leaving it as quickly as he could, searching, fighting to fill that void again, to feel more than numb, to find out who he could be. Could he be more than what he was? Was he meant to be someone incredible?

That was when Lord Ras found him. Ras promised Jay a life that he could be proud of, that would make Jay worth something, that his name would be known. That he could feel more than he had felt in years. That the void that Jay felt could be filled.

The emptiness in him screamed to be filled again, and he could already feel Ras' praises, his promises, filling it.

Jay didn't hesitate to put on the wolf mask that was handed to him.

And, with the resounding note of a gong, the emptiness was gone.

If anything, you'll have to worry about asking for some space

Jay's super affectionate when it comes to romance, and he gets so lost in his loverboy haze that he won't see your "stop" signs unless you express them explicitly

But he does love seeing you all flustered

For him it's a sign that his love is getting to you (in a good way!)

He gets the biggest grin when he can make you blush, and he practically melts when you avert your gaze bashfully
