I always found Kai's fear of water in season 5 {possession/ghostbound} to be very sudden and random. I know he states that he used to be fine because he could summon a dragon at anytime, but in just the former season {tournament of elements} He was fine fighting on the boat without having a dragon to summon onto. And if his excuse is having the fire powers in general, that also doesn't make sense because in half of season 2, their entire boat ride to the dark island, none of the four had their own elements and Kai was completely fine with the water around him. Does anyone else find it so strange that he was suddenly afraid of water the moment it became season 5?
