Prince Mallow, Representative of Nimbus Land, in Sarasaland

Prince Mallow continues his ever expansive journey to explore the rest of the world and its variety of cultures, coming to a rest at a long-standing ally of the Mushroom Kingdom, Sarasaland. A surprisingly little-known fact is that Sarasaland technically isn't a kingdom in of itself but a small federation made up of four adjacent kingdoms--Birabuto Kingdom, Muda Kingdom, Easton Kingdom, and Chai Kingdom.

Princess Daisy took the visiting prince on a fairly quick tour of the four kingdoms, each of which apparently have at least one resource they're known for and trade on a federal and, to a lesser extent, international level. Birabuto Kingdom has its intricate pottery, Muda Kingdom is known for its seafood and music, Easton Kingdom has its detailed sculptures, and Chai Kingdom boasts some of the best kinds of tea.

Mallow took particular interest in one sculpture in Sarsaland located in the capital city of the Muda Kingdom. It was gold like most made by his own land's sculptor Garro, but this one was far bigger and dynamic than anything Garro had made to Mallow's knowledge. It depicted a lively dance between Daisy and the brother of Mario, Luigi. After having already heard about Luigi's more active role in Mario's adventures in both the Beanbean and Flower Kingdoms, Mallow had to wonder why he never saw Luigi on his own until the victory parade that followed.

And Daisy was quick to reveal the reason why--she had invited Luigi for a stay in Sarasaland some time before Smithy's Gang invaded. Among other things, the pair had posed for the very statue Mallow had stopped to admire in present day. Luigi hadn't even known a major invasion happened back home in the Mushroom Kingdom until a pair of Mushroom Retainers had arrived with the formal request from Peach that he lead the parade celebrating Mario and party's subsequent victory.

Mallow was both happy and amused to learn from Daisy that Sarasaland was one of the few places Bowser has never invaded, and she proudly considers this possibly a result of the one time Bowser tried to get the jump on her, only for Daisy to, in her own words, "smack him into the stratosphere." Mallow wasn't forgetting that one any time soon. Over the course of the tour, another seemed to take interest in and watched the kingdoms' visitor from a distance. Mallow never got a good look, but they appeared cloud-like. A fellow Nimbus Person, perhaps? Or something else?

I've been affectionately calling this "the au I'm not writing" for a while now. Then I accidentally wrote 20k words for it. So I guess I can't call it that anymore (I still do though). So here's some concept art for an AU that's been bouncing around my head for a while which I guess we can call the bruce-never-became-batman-and-so-jason-and-babs-end-up-as-gotham's-first-vigilantes-and-slowly-acquire-more-friends AU. Mermay's over, but I'm not done with it! Anyway mermaid Tang Xuan Au where Tang Xuan is a octopus based mermaid and Li Ling is like a rich aristocrat. They meet when they are kids and become best friends then Tang Xuan goes away. So a few years down Li Ling is an adult and thinks he made it up till Tang Xuan shows up again. Lewis is also going to be in this idea (cause he deserves it) but I don't have an exact idea. I'm thinking sailor who was friends with Xuan and Ling when younger and also has to go away but stayed in contact with Tang Xuan

You put down Octupus!Merman!Tang Xuan, solid as octopus are know for their flexibility and adaptability, but I raise you WingedFish!merman!Tang Xuan, specifically Four Winged Flying Fish. Fast, sleek, [small,] and can perform decent feats of acrobatics when it launches itself out if the water and into the air. They use their ability to speed boost to outmanoeuvre predators, so they're agile too!

Lewis would be a legend, spread in multiple small towns and isolated villages, as a pirate who shows no mercy to other ships that cross his territory, his wrath setting ships ablaze with a terrifying plume of fire that the townsfolk can see clearly from the comforts of their beach. The screams of these tortured sailors travel with the wind from their emblazed ship, providing easy fodder to scare unruly children into doing their chores and listening to their elders.

In reality, Lewis is in a petty sibling cat-and-mousrle game with Bonnie, Lewis actually being part of the Western King's admiral fleet and trying to catch up to his Pirate!Sister before the Royal Navals find her. She smuggles herself onto pirate ships, in the hopes of joining a crew and going on bloody adventures, but since she's a bit too... Excitable... And aggressive... And bloodthirsty... The Royal Naval fleet always gets involved, and Lewis is almost always there to at least rangle her off the ship. He is fine with his sister's dreams, he just wishes they were a tad less violent so he didn't have to lose sleep over her potentially getting caught and sent to the gallows.

With that being said, Bonnie is a bit of a legend herself, among the pirates, as her figure holding a crude, hodge podge farming scythe in one hand and a ball of fire (actually a lit flask) in the other, is the omen before their ship explodes and they're left to die a slow death. She appears out of nowhere and vanishes just as abruptly too.

Then everything you said is happening between our two boys, with the added spice that Li Ling goes off to find his friend, with the idea to find this Legend and join his crew, so that there will be no rules stopping them and no eyes and ears reporting back to his family. Of course, he hops on his Best Friend's™ ship, Lewis, not realising that this man is the Legend and Lewis can only keep a poker face and act like this Fire Fist legend is someone he's met rather than himself.

When I read this at first I was like... no Alysanne that was Saera (she wanted be a queen "like mother") you're reading this situation wrong because you're paranoid after Saera. Also Baelon isn't even the crown prince, Aemon is... and he already has a daughter who is presumably his heir. But then I thought a little more about it and tbh everything I previously said still holds, but also I think there's one more big thing.

So, Baelon and Alyssa are constantly compared to Jaehaerys and Alysanne. Alysanne herself makes that comparison when she's arguing for them to be wed. It's not insane to think that Alysanne saw her own marriage in Baelon and Alyssa. Which is funny because personality wise, Alyssa is not at all similar to Alysanne. But it doesn't matter, Baelon and Alyssa are an elder brother and younger sister in love, they're a perfect match. I wonder if it felt like righting a past wrong when Alysanne arranged their match? They're destined to be together just like Jaehaerys and herself, and this time the adults recognize it right away.

So when Alyssa dies and Viserra starts looking at Baelon as a potential husband (something that is relatively reasonable behavior in this family tbh)... maybe this stings Alysanne. Baelon replacing Alyssa with another sister? Wouldn't that be like Jaehaerys replacing Alysanne? Is Alysanne replaceable... one sister... why not another? IDK I think she's conflating this situation with her marriage and that's where the queen line comes in. I think just like how the Saera situation was damaging to Jaehaerys's self image, the idea of Baelon and Viserra marrying was damaging to Alysanne's self image.

In part perhaps because while she could look at her own marriage through the "pureness" of Alyssa and Baelon's love... Viserra is kind of a less generous view (from Alysanne's own POV) of Alysanne's past actions. Viserra "prances and preens", while Alyssa simply "chases after", Baelon; Which one could Alysanne be accused of with Jaehaerys? Viserra has no love of Baelon, she just has ambitions, so she's not like Alysanne, who loved Jaehaerys. Alysanne didn't do it for ambition... it's not that she wanted to be queen, but Jaehaerys was meant to be king and Alysanne would be a good queen regardless. Alysanne wanted to see herself in Alyssa, maybe she realized she could see herself in Viserra too and that hurt.

Which is what makes it sad that she ultimately tries to do to Viserra what was done to her. She arranges an unwanted marriage for her daughter and her daughter responds by trying to do what her mother did all those years ago. I think Viserra's way of going about it, lying naked in Baelon's bed and getting drunk (was she nervous, trying to get her courage up?) shows that there wasn't actually any trust between her and Baelon. She was trying to obligate him to help her, he has no love for her specifically, so if she just tells him her fears he won't intervene (why would he? his father even pointed out marriage is the Queen's domain and Baelon is a dutiful son). But if he compromises her... well he's honorable, he'll marry her. But of course, he's honorable enough that he merely sends her away. There's no one to help her, all she can hope for is a night of laughter before she freezes. See Alysanne? You've proved your point, Viserra and you aren't the same after all.

I learned what a bullet journal was by watching a few YouTube artists set theirs up and my algorithm spiraled out of control from there so I guess I have all the bujo influencers to thank for getting into it because it has been a godsend so far on my third attempt, but damn if the over emphasis on aesthetic over the actual practical organizational aspect of it doesn't rankle me a bit

[thirty rambling tags later] huh. I didn't know there was a thirty tag limit in all the years I've been on tumblr. Whatevs I can't copy paste the tags onto the main body because I'm on mobile and I don't want to write it out again so I'll just summarize the last bit here:

If you are browsing the bujo tag because you feel bullet journaling will help you but you feel intimated because you don't think you can make it look pretty, or that the bullet journal method could never help you because it looks exhausting or the inspo you see doesn't cover what you need, I am pleading with you to ignore all the pretty inspiration, take the most common and even original Ryder Carroll formats and spreads with a grain of salt and eliminate or change them as needed, and talk to people who have similar needs than you even if they don't bujo and suss out what's important to keep track of. My bujo is eighty percent important medical bullshit, because that's what I need more than a book tracker. You prolly have your own unique needs. And hell, if you want a book tracker then add a booktracker. It's your bujo to format and plan out.

So like if you want to start bullet journaling, go to Michaels and get a seven dollar Artist's Loft dot grid journal. Or a binder you have left over from school years past and print out your own dot grid paper if you have enough ink and paper and printer that can do double sided (Kevin McLeod's site I forget the name of has free adjustable dot and other grids I've used), or buy a pack of 8.5x11 dot grid paper, and grab a crappy hole punch that just barely does the job. Get yourself a nice pen you think looks and feels nice in your hand and on the paper–or if that doesn't matter to you go get pack of Bics or even pencil if that's what you prefer (I use a pencil for things I can't have be permanent, like temporary meds or the dates of yearly vaccines). If you're twitchy about messing up then get the cheapest wite out they have (but don't worry about messing up especially if you're not even showing it off to anybody). A cheap yellow highlighter if you think it'll help. And a ruler if straight lines are important to you. I lost mine so I just wobble my lines now I don't care (and it's marginally easier to get a line adjacent to straight with a dot grid)

Anyway. If you want to bullet journal but don't know where to start or how to make it pretty or how to make it work for your needs, just try it in the cheapest way possible and rearrange the guts of the bujo as you see fit. And don't worry about the optics as long as you can make sense of your methods and writing.

(and for the love of God if you're bipolar don't make an hourly mood tracker yes our moods can and will fluctuate throughout the day but goddamn was that a bitch to log and abandoned a few weeks after inking it out)
