I sometimes think people only consider non-binary people as authenticly not-male and not-female until they learn your assigned gender or genitals. Then you're just "female-lite" or "male-lite".
That's why I want a cloaca. I don't have either of those things in my pants, guess again!
#trans shitposting#And it's a well established fact that I wasn't born#So I wasn't assigned anything

Obsessed with the way Evadne's relationship with Apollo is described. Obsessed with the way Apollo was especially gentle with her because she was sheltered, hidden away and hadn't had any sort of experience with love prior to Apollo (and due to it being described as her 'first learning Aphrodite's joy' through Apollo', it was probably her first time even being attracted to someone). Obsessed with the way when she runs away, she stops in a violet patch to give birth. Y'know, violets, very famously the flower so strongly associated with Aphrodite that they were used in love potions? Those violets. Obsessed with the way that when Apollo realised his lover was going to have to deliver their child alone, he sent BOTH the goddess of childbirth and ALL THREE OF THE FATES to help and support her. Obsessed with the way that Apollo sends snakes to feed his baby honey straight from their fangs because Evadne abandons their son out of straight primal fear when her stepfather finds her and how the description of that honey is 'sweet venom' [ἰός] of the bees and is DEFINITELY a poetic pair/pun with [ἴον] aka violets and that every single thing about this relationship, conception and birth is a complete and utter fairytale down to Evadne's insanely overprotective stepfather having an immediate change of heart when he learned Evadne's child was an actual, legitimate Son of Apollo and the babe, after being cared for by his dad's honey-fanged snake buddies, was found perfectly healthy five days later swaddled in a blanket of violets (y'know the flowers so strongly associated with Aphrodite that they were used for lo-) and they called him Iamus aka Boy of the Violets which is AAAAAARRRR I AM GNAWING AT MY ENCLOSURE
Iamus was made of love. Everything about him was surrounded by deep and profound love and like, let's not even talk about his whole Thing of when he came of age and was like "I need to find out what my purpose is" and he literally had a Disney Protagonist moment where he ran out into the wilds and was like "Father!! Grandfather!! Tell me what I'm supposed to doooo!!" and then APOLLO FUCKING ANSWERED AND LED HIM TO ONE HIS TEMPLES ENTIRELY BY TALKING WITH IAMUS AND LETTING HIM FOLLOW HIS VOICE FOR THE WHOLE JOURNEY LIKE -
What do y'all know about the kind of SSS tier romantic escapades Apollo had fr?
#ginger rambles#NO BECAUSE WHAT DO Y'ALL KNOW ABOUT APOLLO AND EVADNE FR#They're a MAD underrated couple and their story is what everyone wishes Hades/Persephone was#Evadne actually WAS sheltered and overprotected because she was a daughter of Poseidon explicitly given to Aepytus to watch over#And Aepytus to his credit wasn't actually a bad man or anything he just took his job very very seriously#Super pious guy - even though he was positively incandescent when he found out Evadne was pregnant he didn't hit her or anything#He just was like “Get me my HORSE I am going to consult the GODS about my DAUGHTER'S HARLOTRY”#Evadne was fucking terrified of him though she hid that pregnancy like her life depended on it#And the minute she heard horse hooves even though she had just finished giving birth she dropped Iamus like he was molten and fucking ran#I could only imagine Aepytus having set up a baby shower or something cause he was overjoyed by the oracle and Evadne gets home thinking#she's going to get Dungeon'd only for Aepytus to hug her and be like “You should've told me you were seeing Apollo sob emoji sob emoji”#God I'm sure Evadne had a bunch of trauma to work through with her stepfather changing his whole entire attitude on a complete#Apollo doesn't directly interfere with their lives after Iamus is born up until Iamus comes looking for him but he was definitely keeping#a very close eye on them all through their lives#Ugh I'm sick I'm so sick in the head thinking about them#apollo#evadne#iamus#greek mythology#ginger chats about greek myths

So I was rereading the Dushyanta and Shakuntala story, and I just noticed the worst thing ever. Every mortal couple in Hindu Mythology that anyone ever called the "definition of true love" has been sundered from one another in at least one version, and usually this involves the woman being innocent and the man being either duty-bound or a jerk.
Krishna has to leave Vrindavan and Radha for Mathura. I whole-heartedly believe this was inevitable unless Radha left Vrindavan, so I don't take Krishna-slander regarding this but. They never really get together together after that so Idk tbh.
Rama, of course, does the whole Agni-Pariksha thing, even if we don't take the Uttar Kand, and if we do, he goes from reputation-obsessed questionable man to utter jerk who absolutely doesn't deserve to be called Purushottam.
And although Kalidasa did an excellent job of making Dushyanta and Shakuntala's story one of star-crossed lovers, in most other cases, Dushtyanta (in an effort to pull a Rama) outright lies and calls Shakuntala a harlot in open court when she asks him to help raise their son. The only good thing about that "love" story is the ABSOLUTE Tongue-Lashing (TM) Shakuntala gives him. Other than that, it's basically a man coercing a sheltered woman into doing the deed, later trying to humiliate her in public when asked to take accountability, and then passing it off as 'upholding her reputation.'
Honestly, we have so many good love stories I did not expect these to be the benchmark of love 🥲🫠
#like honestly dushyanta trying to act like rama made me so mad#at least rama gathered an army and fought to free his wife#you just saw a woman vulnerable and alone and talked her into being with you#then STRAIGHT UP DISAPPEARED#after promising her A WHOLE ESCORT. Like she had to go to him herself because this AH just abandoned her like a fling#after calling it a gandharva marriage. Also Shakuntala wasn't asking anything for herself she just wanted her son to get his due#and this man with his dusty yayati lineage has the AUDACITY to call her a liar and low born#AFTER knowing her parents were Vishwamitra and Menaka#so not only is HE the liar but he's also classist and casteist and narcissistic and delusional#i like kalidasa's dushyanta much better#yes this was an excuse to go on a dushyanta rant#ramayan#ramayana#rama#sita#krishna#radha#mahabharata#mahabharat#dushyant#shakuntala#dushyanta#hindu mythology#hindublr#boo blabs

Had to hunt down this post by @difeisheng to be sure but. Dfs and fdb are twelve years apart in age. You know what else happens every twelve years? The same animal year in the chinese calendar.
Anyway what I'm saying is that, FEASIBLY, we may not be that far off the mark when we all joke about difang being guard dogs.
#assuming of course that they were both born in the year of the dog and one of them wasn't a year off#i also don't know enough about the time period mlc takes place in to definitively say anything about the years of their births#but still. wouldn't it be really funny#mysterious lotus casebook#lian hua lou#mlc#di feisheng#fang duobing#guard dog x guard dog difang will never not please me

I was talking to an idiot and I need validation.
#superman#clark kent#kal el#comics#dc comics#smallville#martha kent#jon kent#ma kent#pa kent#im gonna rant now. this isnt at you its at the dumb fuck who was commenting on my comment on tiktok.#YES! why the fuck wouldn't he be! he was ADOPTED to be adopted you gotta have the right paperwork in order. the person im mad at LITERALLY#SAID Clark was in an orphanage... lets put our thinking caps! if he was in an orphanage Ma and Pa gave him to the state and yk what! i bet#they thought he was an abandoned baby! no one knew he was an alien. if they didnt he would have been in a govt lab! and in a comic i read ma#and pa thought he was a nasa experiment! yk how they put dogs and moneys in orbit? they thought they did that with a baby! so they took him#ok ok ok then the person i was debating said ma and pa were CRIMINALS!!!!! THEY JUST SAID CLARK WAS IN AN ORPHANAGE!#SO MA AND PA FOUND A BABY. TURNED HIM OVER TO THE AUTHORITIES AND AFTER IT WAS PROVEN THAT HE HAD NO FAMILY THEY ADOPTED HIM!#all of that is legal! they made it sound like ma snuck into a house a stole a child! put some respect on the Kents!#and for why we were debating. he had to have been assigned an ID/ss number/citizen ship because he was to the govt an abandoned BABY#they made it sound like Clark was a 20 year old! he was at best a toddler. he didnt need to take a citizenship test or anything cus HE WAS A#BABY! he was just issued citizenship cus to the govt he was an abandoned baby in the usa WHERE EISE WOULD HE HAVE BEEN FROM!#cus i cant stress this enough NO ONE KNEW HE WAS AN ALIEN! (except maybe ma and pa)#the govt gave an abandoned baby in Kansas an us id cus THEY HAD NO REASON TO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE BABY FOUND IN A FEILD IN KANSAS WASN'T#BORN IN THE USA! and with all the paperwork they did on him they gave him us citizen rights like THE RIGHT TO VOTE#there are a million possibilities for why a baby would be abandoned in a feild in Kansas and it would take awhile to aliens#this is what i think the govt thought 'ok baby abandoned in a feild of a local couple. no family to be found. a young mother probably got#pregnant and didn't want to baby so she left it where a couple who couldn't have children could find them. oh look the couple wants to adopt#let them take the baby.' babys being abandoned was so common that safe haven laws were made to give mothers who didnt want their infants a#safe place to drop their kid off (usually a special box at a fire department or hospital)

There’s something silly to me about Bluestar x Yellowfang
It’s just “yeah Firestar’s moms should date”
Old women with tragic backstories and the very orange boy they separately adopted
#it's a great ship I love it#listen you can claim Bluestar wasn't a maternal figure to Firestar & that she was just his mentor but you can't do that with Yellowfang#She canonically tells Fireheart that she wishes he was her son#That's not a thing left up to reader interpretation or anything. The direct quote (from Rising Storm) is#''I wished you'd been my son but I could not have borne a cat like you.''#(there's more to the quote but I can't fit all of it in the character limit of the tags)#(or technically I could but it would have to be several tags and I don't feel like doing that)#she also says ''I only regret that I will miss watching you become what Starclan has destined you to be.'' to him in that same bit of dialo#that is his mom. Like you cannot reasonably deny that#I'm going to shut myself up now before I actually write an entire essay about Yellowfang in the tags of this post#because I know myself and I know I'd do it#Warrior Cats#yellowfang#bluestar#bluestar x yellowfang#blueyellow#(I think that's their ship name?)#(I'd make a joke about how we should just call it ''Green'' but I'm sure that joke has been made already)#and because I mentioned Starclan's most special little orange boy#wc firestar#firestar#honestly if I ever decide to do fun character tags that's what Firestar's will be

Rank 52: The final duel!!
#I don't even know how to start in saying how much this scene hurt me. I don't even know if I can express what I'm feeling with words#because all I can think right now is how much I love Astral and how much he breaks my heart#he was born from hopes and he was given a mission that would protect the hopes and futures of his world (and all other worlds probably)#at the cost of his own existence#but that wouldn't have hurt because he wasn't created for feeling anything#He would have complete his mission with no regrets with no past with nothing to miss#just a little light of hope that would have defeated E'Rah sacrificing himself without leaving anything behind#and then he met Yuma#he started to know Yuma and his friends and adversaries and what emotions were#and the hollow hope become a person#a person who felt happiness fear love a person who now had a story and people who he would miss#and he still decided to carry on his mission because that would have protected what he now holds dear#those new emotions those connections were the key to beat E'Rah but were also what made him understand how tragic his fate was#but he didn't regret any of that#because it was Yuma and his friends and the emotions that they had made him feel that made his brief life worth living#(sometimes I forget that in the manga Astral was probably sent to Earth soon after he was created. That “brief life” is heart-breaking)#and Yuma asking him if he was okay with that and if he wasn't scared#and Astral saying that he wasn't given any means to feel such terror but he was now scared#and yet he found that fear wonderful because that means he was alive#all those emotions were what made him truly alive#not a tool not a hollow hope but a real person who still decided to sacrifice himself for protecting everyone#astral zexal#astral yu gi oh#yuma tsukumo#yu gi oh zexal#zexal#yugioh zexal#zexal manga#Zexal manga spoiler#ygo zexal

behold: my second least favorite string of words in the entirety of Tears of the Kingdom.
(it's a little less transparent why this time so I'll explain my thoughts under the cut)
So why do I not like this?
In so many words: because if you remove it, the scene still works, but you lose the moral certainty of what is going on.
This single sentence does so much legwork for the entire game (the kind I dislike), to the point where I'm about 60% sure it's the product of a rework that realized how ambiguous Rauru's position was as the Good Rightful King and needed to nervously reassure the players that Ganondorf Is and Always Was the Invader, Actually.
(no matter that it leaves the gerudos in this awkward in-between state of both invaders and victims, while never dwelling in the specifics of their history and their own agency in the entire thing; brushed off as a sin they have to expiate through loyalty to the winners of that particular strife, but without explicitely blaming them either to avoid the implications of what that would have looked like)
If you remove it, not only do you lose a pretty clunky line that detracts from Ganondorf's intimidating presence (who is he even speaking to? who needs to hear this right now?) that honestly speaks for itself when it comes to his experience with warfare, but also you lose any tension and any mystery regarding why he is attacking in the first place.
You also... kind of rob Ganondorf's motivations of their meaning. "Hyrule will bow down before me" leads to asking... why? What does he want? What does he see in those lands? And what little we get with Rauru and then Link during the final fight begs more questions; why do you prefer hardship to peace? Why do you value strength? What leads you to want to rule a land devoid of survivors, become a king without a kingdom? I don't think we ever get satisfactory answers. If you remove this sentence, on the other hand... Subtextually, it becomes pretty clear that his motivations is that he felt threatened by Rauru's power, which is ripe with subtext and questions about whether this is a legitimate reaction, whether his "no survivor" stance is due to a feeling of betrayal when his own people turned against him post the Demon King shenanigans... I'm not saying it would fix the entire game's writing, far from it, but it would already do *so much more*.
(genuinely, I think he could have stayed completely silent during the Molduga Assault, speaking only in the Show of Fealty before going completely nuts after Sonia's murder, and it would have worked MUCH better in terms of characterization but anyway anyway
EDIT: ALSO!!! that way he wouldn't speak hylian to fellow gerudos, which is weird inherently)
Without this line, the core of the tension between the gerudos and Hyrule comes front in his conversation with Rauru; it allows the cause of his hostility to be Rauru's invitations, that he would have taken as a threat, and would have still made him warlike and domineering without making him cartoonishly flat, because, once again, Rauru is not acting in a particularly more legitimate way when Zelda arrives in Ancient Hyrule; and it would have been... fair to point that out. And make for better characterization for Rauru, and Sonia, and Mineru, and everybody. But the priority was for Hyrule to be pictured as unquestionably holy; always legitimate, always truthful, always beautiful, always just.
Also, and this is more of a nitpick but: why would Ganondorf want Hyrule, specifically, to bow down before him also? Was he at war with the rest of the disparate tribes before, and just carried on his ambitions to the very very newly-founded kingdom as they allied under a new banner? (though it seems to be implies the lands were crawling under monsters in a generic sense, and not Ganondorf's attacks in particular) Why would he even consider Hyrule a legitimate entity worth taking over then, if it is so new, born from the will of a powerful rival, founded by what is basically a stranger to these lands? Why would he covet something so young instead of destroying it and just calling the lands Gerudo Lands II or Grooseland or something?
I don't think any of that was even accounted for, because, beyond everything else: to me, this sentence is so clearly and painfully crammed in here to shield Hyrule from any potential blame and immediately characterize Ganondorf as Bad without having to remove any of the causes that could lead one to side-eye Rauru's little pet project as equally questionable.
Beyond the clumsiness, it is cowardly --and, I think, a little damning.
#totk#totk critical#when will my brain return from the imprisoning war...#ganondorf#gerudos#rauru#tl:dr it is cowardly and reveals that nintendo knew about the Implications to some degree#sometimes less is more#really in that case less would have been so much more#it is literally ganondorf's first chronological line#yeah sure it tells you everything about the guy but#it's also such a bold commitment to flatness and self-righteousness that... yeah#and before I hear any “at least Rauru wasn't using force” I mean as far as we know though?#the constructs attack anyone deemed an “invader” on sight one of the things rauru does is to apologize for this#(I reread Rauru's initial dialogue in the Sky Islands and it would have been SO GOOD if any ambiguity would have been allowed)#(like the thing about Constructs mindlessly pursuing their useless tasks forever disquieting him...)#(yeah buddy so true that could uhhh almost be a metaphor for something else regarding purpose and lineage or something wow)#and even if he didn't use force directly the power dynamics and repeated invitations are still undeniably questionnable#like my guy why do you want everybody to kneel down to you what's up with that do we unpack this or#at least ganondorf was like.... born and raised a king (not that it excuses anything but he inherited pre-existing traditions)#so did zelda#she was born in an imperfect system and did whatever she could about it#rauru *crowned himself*#he *made* the system

sometimes I rewatch mackenyu's fight scenes as zoro and I become irrationally angry because I can tell that this absolute unit of a nerd enjoyed 1. the fight scene itself 2. playing the role of the Roronoa Zoro
#I swear I see his eyes glint in some shots and I know it's not a zoro thing but a mackenyu thing#A mackenyu 'I grew up with one piece and now I'm zoro and I will bring justice to the character' thing#NERD BUT HONESTLY SAME#one piece live action#one piece#zoro#roronoa zoro#mackenyu#mackenyu arata#that one promo where he said there wasn't anything difficult about using the swords#0 arrogance 100 honesty#which makes it even better#that's what happens when you're born and raised the way he had been#when the training is actually real#guys his muscle memory must have kicked in so well that he focused more on the non fighting scenes and portraying zoro there#which is even cooler#I hate him he's so awesome#both mackenyu and Zoro lol

Fellas? We ain't okay over here.
#I feel like shit#Still#I mean like... What else do I even feel right now#I thought my grandpa was the that offered me a place to stay#And last night he told me he was doing just fine before I moved in.#Like I even had a goddamn choice in the matter#Like it was either here or the fucking streets in my mind by that point.#And I wasn't even the one that called him it was my mother#So I don't understand how the hell this is even my fault.#And I'm the burden because I didn't have a choice on where to go???#Like I'm sorry I eat food?????? Is that the problem?????????#Because that's all I really do. I'm not breaking anything#That's my uncle. He's breaking shit all the time.#I eat the food he makes.#He asks me to do something and I do it.#I keep quiet and stay out of his way.#So the one fucking time I vent my frustration about my stuff it's like... I'm the burden now??? And my uncle isn't???????#My uncle is the one that's fucking 50 and still living here.#My uncle is putting shoes in the microwave#He's breaking the washers. He broke 2 actually.#The only thing I can think of is that I've just got 4 different things going on with my psychology#So he has to drive me to all sorts of appointments#And like... I'm sorry I was born with autism????#I'm sorry I was born with ADHD????#I'm sorry I was born with a mood disorder that makes me cry a fuck ton????#I'm sorry that after years of your daughter abusing me that I have anxiety????#Like none of that shits my fault#It's not like these things are contagious or that I can force my body to have these issues.

the sociopath thing does irk me i will admit and some of that is i just feel it’s an inappropriate word to be using in the year 2024 (it's not a nice word i don't give a shit about its literary or metaphorical merits, of which it has none anyway!!) but i also think it’s functionally useless because sometimes people mean “this person has a scary disorder” and sometimes they mean “this person is ontologically evil” and sometimes they mean “this person is ontologically evil and i’m sad about it, how tragic” and it’s like. what are we talking about here. you can’t just be like joffrey/criston/ramsay/tywin/saera/cersei/whOever is a sociopath and expect anyone to think that’s a satisfying answer for why they act the way they act. “gregor clegane is a sociopath” but WHY. “no i mean he really does have like sociopathic disorder” that’s not a diagnosis and the range of things he could have that would make him display “sociopathic behavior” is SO VARIED. just say what you MEAN.
#like even from a misguided ‘i do think this person has a disorder & im analyzing them from the perspective that there was no hope they’d be#well adjusted bc therapy doesn’t exist’ fine but ‘sociopathic behavior’ could be anything from a personality disorder to autism to physical#disability like an injury or in gregor’s case the headaches caused by his gargantuism.#but it’s often just like ‘they’re evil’ BABIES ARENT EVIL NOT EVEN AEGON IV MUCH AS GEORGE LOVES HIS LIL JOKES#IT'S NOT A USEFUL WORD BECAUSE NO ONE CAN DEFINE IT CONCRETELY!!!#I'M SORRY FOR BITCHING AGAIN#I GET ANGRY WHEN I SEE IT IN JOFFREY'S TAG#like YEAH maybe he DOES in fact have narcissistic personality disorder but that's not something that dooms you to a life of evil#there's a REASON he acts this way!!! he wasn't born evil!!!! cersei wasn't born evil!!! even ramsay was not born evil!!!!!!#it feels completely at odds with how the series presents morality to default to 'well he's a sociopath' IF YOU MEAN SADIST JUST SAY SADIST#getting on my soap box

gross thought but like what do you think would happen if taylor got a parasite. like a tapeworm. one of the ones that hatches in the human body. cause her power doesn't detect larvae or eggs i don't think so she wouldn't know about it if she drank dirty water or something.
again gross thought but i'm thinking about her like detecting through her power a tapeworm hatching in her own stomach. or intestines. wherever tapeworms live. what would you do about having a tapeworm in your stomach and knowing about it from the moment it hatches from its egg. like do you let it die? cause she controls it so she can just make it so it doesn't eat any food and it starves to death. does that make it worse does that kill you
#cw parasites#cw parasites mention#was writing a fic snippet where taylor buys food at a really shitty bar that doesn't have health and safety standards#she doesn't eat it but like. if she had eaten it what would happen#this feels like i'm talking about a sex thing. i'm not#not that there's anything wrong with that#i don't have a problem with fetishes or kinks or anything#unless you're like. giving people parasites without their knowledge. that's bad and you shouldn't do it#but anyway it's not a sex thing. see this makes it sound more like a sex thing but its not#this is just like that time i was talking about how i couldn't think of a stress response other than puking#THAT WASN'T A SEX THING EITHER#normally i would look up tapeworms to find out if they actually live in intestines or not or whether they are born from eggs#but i don't want to look it up because there will be pictures and i don't wnat to look at those. i saw a single spider today i hit my limit#very funny to me that i am a big worm fan while indeed being afraid of spiders and various bugs such as tapeworms and wasps#do you think aisha would say this to taylor#hey taylor what happens if you get a tapeworm#and taylor stares off into the middle distance wondering what she's done wrong to deserve this (there was a lot actually)#i would tag this worm or parahumans but it would maybe be better if nobody saw this methinks

Why goat
god honestly i don't know i have absolutely no cool origin story for it.
i think a few years ago i started wanting to draw myself as an animal instead of just human in my diary comics + wanting to pick a proper fursona for myself and i huuuh didn't really have any default option to go with
i think i landed on goat ultimately by default bc honestly goats are neat in general + my hometown is near the Alps which is goat-friendly + when i tried to get into the best french animation school in 2017 i put some sorta personal project in my portfolio that was focused on a goat character trying to go against what they were told their innate nature was and i think i still somewhat vibed with it ( i didn't get into that school )
#but mostly i still just landed on goat by default and it's good enough but i don't have any cool or smart or deep explanation for it#i neved did anything more with the goat character idea bc it was mostly just bad#basic gist was the goat being told by their dad that goats are predestined to black magic and be outcasts#andthe goat wanted to go apply to the big magic universities anyway and got rejected everwyer#but eventually realized that she didn't need to get into any of these fancy schools nor follow what she was told she was born to be#she could just carve her own path & figure that shit out by herself#anyway i wasn't out or anything at the time. was this subsconcious or some shit idk#im straying away from the original question entirely. sorry#shevr
