Finally... Another person who has seen the vision of Martlet and Red. These two are genuinely amazing regardless of how small the interactions they had in-game were. In fact, I am now going to use this incredible art as an excuse to go on a rant about them and how much Martlet and Red being friends adds to Red's character as a whole.
In Undertale Red/UnREDtale, a part of Red's character is that she is afraid of meeting and befriending a human. No human has made it past Asgore so she fears that if she ever made friends with one, she would inevitably have to see as they met the same fate as all the other humans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While you can simply chalk this up, in part, to her implied backstory of losing people important to her—Red saying she "didn't want to lose anyone else" as well as Undyne mentioning the Guard is the only family she has—this explanation doesn't really explain why she became so afraid of specifically losing a HUMAN friend. Not fellow monsters, a human. You know, the species the Underground calls their enemy and key to their freedom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while, yes, Red says she heard the Canine Unit talking about you, how they all considered you a friend, and how it scared her, the way she said this always, at least to me, sounded more like she was terrified of a fear she already had prior to Frisk/The Player showing up in the Underground coming true rather than her just suddenly gaining this fear the moment you showed up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hell, Undyne literally posted Red somewhere she was certain a human would NEVER reach and gave Red direct orders to not confront any humans unless absolutely necessary, just collect their SOUL if they are defeated by someone else. Undyne has absolutely been aware of this fear since Red joined the Guard, even mentioning how she felt it was silly during the phone call at the end of the Pacifist scenario of the fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't some new development, Red has been terrified of losing a human friend for quite some time. There is a big difference between a monster being scared of losing friends who are fellow monsters and being scared of losing a human friend.
And the moment you add Undertale Yellow into the equation, you suddenly gain a lot of context that was never there before.
In Undertale Yellow, Martlet offered to show Red the ropes of being a Royal Guard during their conversation at Oasis Valley, and this meetup would've taken place after the Pacifist Ending where Clover has given up their SOUL, or has it taken by Asgore if we're talking Flawed Pacifist, since they planned to meet up next week.
Tumblr media
So you have Red, who by the time the events of Undertale are taking place is terrified of losing a human friend, meeting up with Martlet, who is probably still processing her grief over Clover's death, which means that Red is going to directly witness how heartbroken Martlet is over her human friend's death.
This event likely stuck with Red afterwards and when she became part of the very same guard that Martlet was a part of and then quit after what happened to Clover, it makes sense Red would become afraid of going through the same thing Martlet did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red isn't afraid of losing a human friend purely because she's doesn't want to lose more people she cares about (though it is a part of it), she is afraid of losing a human friend because she has seen the grief and pain tied to that scenario first-hand and wants to avoid going through the same.
Now sure, a lot of this wasn't planned by Taxiderby or the Undertale Yellow devs since Red is just supposed to be a cameo character in the game, it's all just a big coincidence, but my god does it tie in so perfectly well.
I absolutely love Martlet and Red and I wish more people talked about the dynamic these two have.

Wow, I have a lot I can say here. Okay...
First, I don't even think it's a headcanon, it's just straight up fact honestly.
In the True Lab, in Entry 5, Alphys states she extracted determination from the human SOULs. In Entry 8, she states she chose the first golden flower that grew in the garden as a vessel so that, if her experiment was successful and injecting the Fallen Down monsters with determination made their SOULs persist after death, they had someone who could absorb both the human and monster SOULs.
That flower, of course, is what ends up turning into Flowey.
Flowey only exists because he was injected with determination; determination Alphys got from the human SOULs Asgore had collected thus far.
This means that at least the first few of the humans were dead before Flowey existed since their determination is crucial to his eventual creation.
Maybe he was there for some of the other humans, but frankly I think Flowey works best if Clover is the first human he meets (not counting him knowing Chara as Asriel)
He spent years of repeating the same boring events time and time again, and never being able to get those SOULs he wants, when suddenly a human arrives in the Underground. With Clover, he tries the kind "Your Best Friend" act in order to manipulate them so he can get what he wants, but it doesn't work as Clover will either never make it to Asgore, or dies to him like the rest (not counting the Geno Route). pretending to be Clover's friend proves to be useless in his pursuit for those SOULs. Eventually another human (Frisk) falls and from his experience with Clover he decides it's not worth the hassle of feigning kindness and just immediately tries to kill them.
The other humans made it to Asgore and gave up
Also makes sense. If you die to Asgore, you can tell him that he's killed you before and he'll nod. No other reaction beyond looking sad and nodding.
He knows you come back from death, he knows about the fact he doesn't just need to kill you for this fight to end, he knows that the only way for him to win is to make you give up.
The only way I can see him knowing about this is if all the other humans did the same thing as you are doing here:
Made it all the way to Asgore
Died to him
Came back and told him he killed them before.
This explains why he has so little of a reaction to being told he has literally killed you before, he's heard it before.
Integrity giving up to Axis
(This doesn't exactly relate to Lilac, the version of the Integrity soul mentioned above, this is just about Integrity dying to Axis in general)
There are many ways of inferring why Integrity lets themselves die in such a...brutal fashion, as said above. But honestly, I just see it as being the same reason as the other humans giving up against Asgore; Integrity wasn't able to get past Axis no what they tried and after dying so many times eventually got tired of getting their head blown off by an energy ball and lost the will to keep trying.
Axis simply served as Integrity's Asgore. An unbeatable obstacle you eventually get tired of smashing your head against the wall trying to beat.
And I doubt Flowey would've been around at this point, since Alphys choosing the flower as the vessel happens in an entry made after the call for fallen down monsters to be sent to the lab was made.
Asgore calls for fallen down monsters to be sent to the lab in Entry 6
Flower chosen as vessel in Entry 8
And Kanako had fallen down around the time Asgore made those inquiries for fallen down monsters, as Kanako needs to be sent to the lab with everyone else.
All of this happened long after Integrity was killed, meaning it's highly unlikely Flowey was around for Integrity's journey.
There is probably more stuff I can say or things I could reword to make what I'm saying clearer but I think I've said enough for now.
Hello, greetings from Chile, South America, I love your work..........
...
...
...
This was for the questions...
okey here goes one. Do you think integrity remembers the resets?I think you're busy so I'll wait...Nah, it's a good idea to be there at 1 in the morning.
Hello and thank you!! You’re very sweet.
Ohhhhhh good question actually. I’d imagine probably? In the same line of logic that Clover presumably remembers some of Flowey’s resets anyways.
If I’m being honest, I always really liked the headcannon(?) that all the fallen humans had the ability to save and load (minus Clover due to Flowey being around and overriding that ability), all made it to Asgore, and got sick of dying against him and ultimately gave up. This does beg the question of why Lilac would die in such a brutal way to Axis, butttttt I do have a few ideas for that. Unfortunately I’m not gonna be sharing them for a bit until I can finish writing out that story. I’d like to share Lilac’s perspective and backstory one day!

@enderfore replied to your post “What do you think of Rook's savanaclaw card? <333”:
Chenya pic where???? I can barely see anything in that room there so much going on, rooks such a lil freak (affectionatr)
he's under the row of flags on Neige's side of the room, next to the big Neige poster with the yellow background (look just to the right of the hand holding the apple)! he's REAL little; once you know he's there you can kind of see him in-game, but I only noticed him in the first place because I took a screenshot and was having fun zooming in on all the details!
Tumblr media
I think that's either Hop or Snick and Dominic on either side of Neige, but if the others are meant to be anyone in particular I don't recognize 'em. though I do love all the absolutely terrifying implications of Rook having this. was this some kind of officially-published merchandise (and if so, why) or did Rook like...go hunting through the RSA trash to find this random student lineup just because it included Neige, and has had it hanging proudly on the wall ever since. (I mean, he definitely did do this, I don't know why I'm asking. the real question is why he hasn't cut out little pictures of his own face and stuck them over everyone else's yet.)
there is seriously SO MUCH in this room. how did Rook manage to keep this hidden for three years. also, somebody give this background artist a raise immediately.

Blind side (Patreon)
#Doodles#UT#Handplates#Sans#Papyrus#Gaster#Sans closing his good eye every once in a while and keeping his blind eye open - obviously he does so in-game as well so it's a style-match#It's just interesting in the context of him being textually-confirmed blind in Handplates hehe#There's a level of vulnerability there! Not more than closing both eyes around someone - and potentially also distrust!#''I'm baring myself blind right now but /you/ don't need to know that'' - it suits him ♪#Especially when he does it around Papyrus! Because obviously Papyrus knows about his partial blindness#But when he's trying to be duplicitous - the way he looks at him sidelong with his blind eye when he's trying to lie unsuccessfully ugh <3#And again-again it being about how much he trusts Papyrus! That he can be a little lazy or spacey and Papyrus will help him!#Also something about his entire right side being impaired - pawing around with his plated hand for something he can't see on that side#The dynamics! Internal and external! Very good like them lots#And then there's Gaster lol ♪ Throw him into the mix I'm sure it won't make a mess at all haha#I guess he's visiting? Just spacing out - he and Sans have a lot on their minds - separately haha#I do love how Sans pushes Gaster to be kind to Papyrus - very deservedly! He wants Papyrus to be happy of course#And he's obviously still angry with Gaster a lot but how might that present itself when Papyrus is Papyrus at Gaster hehe#Even just in that small jokey way of ''you tryin' to step on my turf?'' hehehe#Especially since the comparison wouldn't even come up if he had two functioning eyes hm?? Right Gaster???? Lol#Speaking of that scene and Sans' partial blindness tho ughhughuhg <3 <3 The fact that Sans stands with Gaster to his blind side#It's the vulnerability/distaste/confidence of it all! He's grown up so much it's all right there in how he holds himself#That he either trusts Gaster enough not to attack him - starting to believe him - or that he has enough faith in himself to protect himself#And only looking at him with his peripherals unless he looks directly at him hghhhgh I am Normal about shot composition I swear lol#Also I like how that last panel turned out lol - Sans just appears at the bottom of the steps like how's it going. care to gtfo thx

Alabasta Ace is so funny.
Like the strawhats keep commenting that Ace is so polite and restrained compared to Luffy but like. This dude drags himself out of the ocean just to thank them for looking after his brother and offer to help wash dishes. Mans asks "Are these guys bothering you?" and proceeds to blow up an entire fleet with his bare hands. He trips over himself to make sure all of Luffy's crew likes him and no, really, you don't mind that he's a weirdo???? That we, I mean he, are feral little insane guys who take up space and emotional labor and are kind hard to handle? Really???? Cool cool cool hey just a reminder I can help out with anything that needs doing. I got lost in the desert but donnut worry in the 0.6 seconds since you last saw me I have somehow acquired water and provisions for several weeks. Don't ask me how!

i have decided to break my lack of original posting on this blog to bring you my Thoughts on Rot in Paradise. because i played it as soon as i got up this morning and i have scoured for some opinions after finishing it, and now i have my own!!
(and also i posted this on twitter but twitter has such a Shit wordcount that i'm also posting my things here with More Detail)
so! spoilers under the cut, please go and play the game if you haven't. it takes literally an hour (it only took nearly 2 hours for me because i like voice acting by myself and exploring every nook and cranny) and it's also free. so maybe come back into the tag once you're done.
okay, so i noticed quite a number of people being confused and disappointed on the lack of an explanation for the monster. it's brought up in the story as the central thing driving the plot, but it's never explained on what "she" is, why she's compelling people to eat a ton of fish-related food or hell, metal, and why this doesn't impact June at all.
but you know what I think?
i think that that's the point. the focus of rot in paradise isn't supposed to be on the monster.
yeah, it's the thing that pushes the plot along besides June and the gang going on vacation in this island. it's what's causing that uneasiness from the moment that guy grabs June's arm at the drinks, to the sheer unnerving feeling of witnessing people going to the ocean to get Raptured basically. i know i personally felt a chill when i saw that one dude literally eating chains and the other hauling an anchor, as if they're trying to make themselves heavier so they get taken by whatever She is.
but that's not the main point! the main conflict is about June and her friends.
as people have pointed out, this game is about toxic friendships and relationships! it's foreshadowed in the conversation that June has with the gang about her cousin (which i will also get into), and it carries it through the way her friends are horribly warped by this ocean Creature. June goes on a silly little vacation trip with her friends only for them to become so so different from themselves that they lash out at her and even hit her in McCoy's case.
but she still sticks it out with them. through the whole game, even despite their verbal abuse, despite being slapped, despite them being people that she can hardly recognise. she stays with them for the whole game, up until the point where you are given the two options at the very end. and she could still stay with them.
because they're still her friends. she cares about them even if they still hurt her. from the way June still tells Carmen to tell June if she needs anything after Carmen literally tells her to shut up and leave, the way June worries about Vonnie eating seafood even though she continues to stuff herself despite being implied to either hate or make an active choice to not eat seafood, to the way June still trudges out to sea screaming for McCoy to come back to the shore as he wades further in even after he slapped her until her nose bled.
Tumblr media
it mirrors the conversation about her cousin, the reason for why June was looking forward to the vacation. that while she did comfort her cousin through all of it, June clearly says that "they were dickheads, and she should have ditched them a long time ago".
but it's funny, isn't it? that June, an outsider to her cousin's friend group, easily sees the pain that her cousin's friends are causing her, and immediately calls it as it is. that her cousin should have left the second they hurt her.
and yet now, when her friends hurt her, even though this was a quick and sudden change that happened in a span of three days, June still sticks around. her friends are dickheads right now, and we can see that in the way they interact with June, but she still stays.
because they're her friends. and how could she just leave them like this if it's something that's causing them to be this way?
so no, i don't think the monster is supposed to be the main picture. we don't need to know what it looks like, or why it needs to do this to the islanders, or how it's even doing it in the first place. it adds to the scariness of the game, as per the Spooktober Game Jam, sure, but that's not the point. might be a bit disappointing to some, but that's not the point.
the point is about June, and the choice that she needs to make at the end of the game.
it's a choice on whether she chooses to be pulled deeper into the tides and be with the friends who hurt her and will continue to hurt her in this way,
or to leave them to their fates, whether deserved or not, and resurface to a world where she's alone without her friends.
and even though the first choice hurts much more in the long run, doesn't the second hurt even more in the moment? knowing that you're alone at the end of all of this?
Tumblr media
even if it is the right choice, i'm sure the pain must be unbearable in the moment.

I just can NOT get over the whole Sebastian wanting to do a play with Chris thing, you guys. I know it's just a hypothetical at this point, but even just the concept is just so incredible? Like, Sebastian wasn't even prompted into bringing up Chris, he just did, like he'd just been waiting for an opportunity to do so. And then he says he wants to do a Broadway play with Chris? Even implies he's talked to him about it, that he brought up the idea with him repeatedly and is just waiting for Chris to agree to do this with him? Like, it might actually happen?
And what I maybe love most is that this means Sebastian has given this a LOT of thought. He's been going about his life, doing his busy important movie star thing, and meanwhile he's been thinking about Chris, and about how much he wants to work with him again, and how he wants to do this specific play with him that he loves, because he thinks they'd be great in it together. But at the same time, he admits that he'd basically do any play with Chris, as long as they get to work together again. He could've said he wanted to work with anybody, any of his former co-stars, all those people we know he's still friendly with because anyone who works with Sebastian falls a little bit platonically in love with him and vice versa, but no, he specifically says Chris Evans. Out of everyone he's worked with, he wants to work with Chris again for this, he's trying to get him, they're doing this, goddammit.
And another amazing implication of all this, imo: even though Sebastian's been very vocal about rejecting the idea that some people have that they get to tell him what to do and influence his life somehow just because he's famous (about which is absolutely right, by the way) -- he just kind kind of seems to forget all about that in the moment he decides to call on people's help to convince Chris to say yes to his idea. As though achieving that particular goal is more important than all of that other stuff lmao.
And listen, I know he's just messing around, and deep down he knows full well that we don't have any means to contact Chris anyway, and Chris is very good at protecting his peace these days so he's not going to be seriously bothered by anyone about this, but still, the fact is that Sebastian literally told us all to bother Chris, text him, DM him, make posters and send them to him, anything to get through to him and make him see the light. Like, Sebastian wants this bad. AND he knows that there are lots of people out there who would love to see him and Chris reuniting, on stage this time, and he's cunningly using that fact to get what he wants. It's kind of incredible. I just can't get over it, guys.

I find it highly amusing how in situations where the ninja are separated/it's just the OG four, Kai and Zane immediately assume control/start spearheading the team because apparently no one else is sane enough or in the right mind to do so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your honour, they literally have one of the best dynamics in the show, with how they're probably the most protective people in the team. And it makes me mad how this is overlooked by the fandom and the show.

Gonna be honest - the main reason I think Devil's Minion happened in the 70s (and maybe/PLEASE 80s) is not the Alice mentions or the Looks in Dubai
It's that there is no way the writers can convince me that THIS GUY just calmly forgot about the guy that his husband said was more interesting than him because he's a beige pillow

the thing about imogen saying that "if getting rid of delilah means getting rid of [launda] too, it's not worth it" is that it doesn't really change anything, does it? yes it provides laudna with reassurance that she is loved regardless of what lives in her head, but it doesn't mean that imogen doesn't still have negative feelings about delilah being there. "I love you more than I hate delilah" doesn't mean she isn't still disgusted by delilah. I get the sense that this is not an important distinction for imogen--she's said her piece, she's told laudna that she matters more, and that's the end of it for her. laudna matters more. her meaning is crystal clear: I love you and I'm choosing you.
but laudna has been obsessed with imogen saying she was disgusted by delilah watching them. she said herself she can't stop thinking about it, and marisha has said she can't stop thinking about it either, out of game. as far as they know currently, delilah's soul is twined in and around laudna's to the point where they are indistinguishable. the only way to get rid of delilah is to lose laudna. laudna doesn't know where she ends and delilah begins. imogen loves her, but imogen is disgusted by delilah. how does that work if they are one and the same? how does laudna cope with the fact that an inextinguishable part of herself is both genuinely evil and hated by the person she loves the most? at what point does being disgusted by delilah become being disgusted by a piece of laudna herself?
