see but the thing about leslie's obstinate disregard for vigilantism and relentless criticism of bruce/batman is that !!!! she continues to miss the point somehow !!!!!! or more like, she doesn't realize (or perhaps doesn't care? no maybe i'll give her the benefit of the doubt, for once) how cruel she's being, by doing that, by insisting and insisting that there is no worth, no value, no benefit to bruce + co being vigilantes, only harm, an excuse to act out (violently), something like a tantrum, and/or an idiot's substitute for "proper" therapy. and it's like. tim puts it pretty well i think, why none of them are ever gonna side with leslie or do what she wants them to do, what she thinks is right.

bc, you cannot demand a fish to climb a tree or a bird to breathe underwater without also demanding that they sacrifice something essential to life, to survival, even. now, humans are infinitely more complex than fishes or birds. but the sentiment stands, how you cannot demand that someone give up something or take on something that goes against their fundamental nature without also demanding that they carve away something vital to the life they would choose to live for themselves. and leslie doesn't get that. she doesn't care. she thinks her way is the only way. she has allowed her thoughts to calcify. her beliefs and her ideologies hold no space for nuance, only black and only white. no such thing as gray or pink or purple or any of the colors of a traffic light. she has allowed herself—and her stances on life and what a "proper" life looks like—to become unwilling and incapable of changing, like a piece of petrified driftwood, like something that doesn't bend, only breaks.

how odd it is of leslie, to demand a textbook's idea of sanity from people who live in an insane world. from people who choose everyday to rise and meet that insane world as it is, because that world is where they fit and is what they are suited for, being who and how they are.

Assuming this is a reaction to a fic and not just generally about Leslie (for those just tuning in) i think theres a fascinating read in Leslie as a militant pacifist - to quote my mom, someone who thinks you should die for her beliefs. Ive said it somewhere on here before too.

Theres also my idea of Leslie and RH Jason as equal and opposite reactions to the world they live in - to quote myself this time, Leslie would rather be the victim of violence then its perpetrator, while Jason would rather enact violence then be its (possible) victim

And its fun because it places Bruce directly between the two of them - using both violence and ‘peaceful’ solutions that Leslie always wants him too. He just doesnt think it can be one or the other.

To actually answer your question though, Leslie has to be right, at least in her own mind, because to admit shes wrong means to admit that at some point she failed the task assigned to her and she would rather tilt her world view so that Bruce is insane and acting wrong instead of admit that.

some stories are written precisely to elicit strong emotions from the reader INCLUDING negative ones. some stories and characters are meant to be upsetting, they are meant to challenge you and make you uncomfortable!! when a story makes you feel Big Feelings sometimes you are meant to sit in those feelings and ask yourself why! fiction is a great space to explore these emotions in a safe environment. you, as the reader, are meant to think critically about the art you are enjoying and that includes asking yourself questions like why has the author presented their art in this way and what are they trying to tell me. and then you get to have fun picking it apart and figuring it out and deciding what, exactly, the art means to you.

So the thing about Gabe to me is that he doesn’t quite fit in the categorically of Angel Who Is Eventually Humanized the way that Castiel or Anna do. He is more down to earth than the other angels but specifically in the way that GODS are, not humans. Like, even if he's not literally Loki, Gabriel is functionally an earthen deity for the millenia he spent dicking around and killing people. Other gods are literally the crowd he runs in, and he's an asshole because gods are assholes (and he specifically decided to be one of the more extreme asshole gods). Even though his sensibilities can be very human-like, even if he generally likes humans and wants them to stick around, there was always some level of divinity to his cruelty. So even if he did ultimately choose humanity I feel like putting him in with the angels who actually know what it's like to be human misses this part of his character.

it had been completely run on by alcohol. unless the alcohol had only loosened his tongue, letting the words he’d reigned in finally slip free. it would make sense, really. sanemi had been acting more distant recently. even so, giyuu hadn’t paid it too much mind. until now. until sanemi had drunk one too many sips of sake and had laid his thoughts out on the table.

“i don’t think we can keep doing this,” he’d said, turning to look at giyuu. he spoke casually, a small smile playing on his lips. he looked half out of it.

“doing what?” giyuu gently pushed the sake away from sanemi’s reach.

“this. us.” sanemi waved vaguely between them. “us dating.”

giyuu froze. “what do you mean?”

“it’s not really working.” sanemi sighed, sitting back up and shifting on his chair to look at giyuu. he shrugged. “you know?” his hands tucked between his thighs, fiddling with his sleeve. “i feel like we clash badly. like colors. like, uhm… i dunno. what colors look bad together?”

“but… why?” giyuu pressed, ignoring sanemi’s ramble about colors.

sanemi leaned back—only to jolt up again as he realized there was only empty air behind him. he scrambled to turn, his back resting against the counter. his head tilted back and his hair made a show of swooping down. “why? ‘cause… you know. we’re both boys. we’re gonna die anyway. how many years…? two left? also we never worked well before, yeah?” sanemi mulled this over. “i used to hate you. ‘cause you were so annoying and i thought you were an arrogant piece of shit. i don’t hate you now, but still. don’t you hate me for hating you?”

he crossed his legs, sitting back up and cocking his head towards giyuu. “you’re not stupid, giyuu. i think.” he paused. “oh yeah. i’m the stupid one. you’re the educated one.”

he laughed. held out his hand. “where’s the sake?”

giyuu shook his head. he was in some state of shock, so it took him a moment to catch up with everything. “you’ve wanted to break up? for how long?” he asked, his voice hitching slightly. he reconsidered the questions. “why do you want…? i thought we were doing well?”

sanemi huffed, scanning the counter for the sake. his eyes lit up as he caught sight of it and he reached over. giyuu intercepted his attempt, holding him back and simultaneously shoving the sake away. sanemi shot him a look but gave up, apparently too tired to bother.

“are you going to answer me?” giyuu said with a slight frown. he had to ask before the alcohol left sanemi’s system.

“answer what?” sanemi slumped onto the counter, glowering at the sake that was much too far for his liking. somehow, he’d forgotten he could walk. so he resorted to resting his head in his arms. he closed his eyes, letting out a breath.

“why do you want to break up?”

“i do?” sanemi sat up, looking suddenly alarmed. he stared at giyuu. “since when?”

“oh. uhm. well, you were heavily implying it.”

sanemi thought that over. “i don’t want to break up. i just think we’re not gonna end up well. not a lot of relationships do. i’m just being realistic.”

“more like pessimistic,” giyuu mumbled. “how won’t we end up well, though? we’ve been fine.”

“it’s just…” sanemi hesitated. he shook his head. “my head doesn’t fucking make sense. can’t think.”

giyuu sighed. “sometimes, i don’t understand you.”

“me neither.” sanemi went back to resting on the counter. his eyes fluttered close again. “‘m just worried that i’ll fuck up and leave you with the consequences or something. never mind. gonna sleep, now. night.”

I love the idea that, whenever a Cybertronian space-faring vessel lands or docks within a predominantly non-Cybertronian space station or port, that it's required that they either confirm or deny whether their vessel is sentient or not before being permitted to land.

1. For proper accommodation and clarification, along with the chance for communication between the vessel and crews working the station/port.

2. Because there has been... incidents... incidents that have led to the requirement of the above reasons.

I was afraid I’d lose him. So I got there late. And… as I entered, I saw him about to take pictures by himself. The first thing that I felt was… I wanted to hug him.
