NCIS season 16 episode 20 (spoilers!):
Torres. My man. You did not just ask "who?" George Lucas is. I'm not even an avid star wars fan and I know that. Do you live under a rock? My lord. Even Gibbs knows
I love that Gibbs has fostered this air of technological illiteracy over the years, and yet he actually does know basic technology. This is the second time this season he's stunned Jimmy with his knowledge of simple technology. I mean, im just stunned that he knew the DMV thing. I didn't know that.
O.O Gibbs. I'm shocked. She wasn't a red head.
I love Tim's attitude of "Gibbs voulenteers no information. We must gather the scraps that flutter our way and piece them together. Here is some of my 16 years worth of scrap collecting"
Omg. Torres didn't know about the ex wives
Tim is watching Gibbs
Ah. This might cause some hurt feelings. Because McGee has worked for Gibbs for 16 years. Has been close to him for over a decade. Gibbs is a father figure to him, a man he cares about and respects, a man he trusts with his life. Hes been through a lot with Gibbs. And yet Gibbs voulenteers nothing personal, did not even tell Tim that he was engaged to the victim. And that has to hurt.
Ellie will kill you Nick. You don't mess with a Nerd's comic con. Delilah will get you too, as will McGee. So you better hope you have some badges of your own to give away
Huh. What ever Tim just found, he put in his jacket. Intresting.
The sight of Gibbs on the other side of the table just looking around made me chuckle
Him getting annoyed at his chair and whipping out his knife to level it off
It panning across all of them was great. Them one by one expressing their desire to not die by Gibbs and therefore won't be questioning him, is even better. But Jack grabbing the file to do it herself because she works with children, thats the best.
"That is the whitest thing I have ever heard"
Oopp. What ever Tim found, it contradicts that. That head tilt indicates that Gibbs just lied. Tims angry.
Oh that took a lot out of him. I'm impressed tbh. He stood his ground, told Gibbs he was off the case and he meant it. And Gibbs listened. He went home. Not sure i saw amusement or pride in that smirk, but it was something
Oh wow, I was dead on. Its about Gibbs not trusting him after 16 years (for the record, I think Gibbs does trust him. Deeply)
Every basement conversation on this show is important and relevant. But I really like this one because Tim confronts Gibbs on his bull shit. And, Gibbs locked his door. He locked his door. He doesn't do that.
That's why he keeps them at arms length. Because it never ends well
"Im sorry, did you just compare yourself to a work of art?" "Yes. Yes I did"
End scene good scene

Karl Heisenberg x reader
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: injury, cussing
Author’s Note: I hope you like this babes! Karl my beloved omg, slight re8 spoilers
Requested: by anon, Ooooo requests? Maybe? Idk it says open so I shall ✨request✨. M’kay, so I’m thinking that Karl has a gf that likes soft things (blankets, sweaters, pillows, pjs, that kind of stuff) and small enclosed spaces, so Karl makes a small-ish room for her to put all of her stuff in and cuddle up to for when she’s cold/wants to relax. Like she has a switch and a tv and wifi- it’s like a soft man cave but for her and Karl. Anyway, Ethan is looking for baby and comes across her room and tries to hide in it, not knowing she’s IN there and asleep. He gets in there, notices the blankets and pillows and accidentally steps on her ankle, which HURT and makes her scream. Karl hears said scream and comes barrelling over in protective bf mode to beat Ethan up. It’s up to you whether gf goes “oi don’t be mean he’s looking for his baby” or not
Summary: the request
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director/creator
(not my gif)
“I just think that it couldn’t be that hard for you to make a small place, hidden away.” Your voice didn’t carry far in the small room but it didn’t have to. You had a blanket over you as you sat up at the edge of the bed. Karl was walking back and forth around the room as he grabbed things to start his day. “You’re very good with your hands,” you said pleasantly. He pointed at you.
“You’re right about that.”
“Come on Karl. Just a small place. You can use it too if you want to run away for a minute.” He stopped in front of you, the first time he had stopped in a couple of minutes. You looked up at him and he looked down at you, caressing your cheek. He took a deep breath.
“I will see what I can do.” You grabbed his hand and slid it to your lips, kissing his palm.
“You’re the best.”
“I know.” He paused. “Say it again.”
“You’re the best Karl.” He leaned down and gave you a kiss before backing away to the door.
“You better believe it.”
===
You didn’t bring up your small place for a couple of days, just in case he really didn’t want to do it. You just figured that you could have a small room in the factory that no one but the two of you knew existed so you could finally have some privacy. You could fill it with soft things, blankets, pillows, all of that. And entertainment as well of course.
But he didn’t bring it up and you didn’t want to push it. He had a lot to do during his days and you didn’t want to add more stress.
You were sitting behind him, arms around his waist as he massaged your hands gingerly. You had your cheek pressed flat against his back as you both breathed, telling each other about your days.
“I made it.”
“Huh?”
“I made the room.” You backed up, pulling away from him. He had to turn because he wanted to know what your expression was. He was very pleased to find an overjoyed look.
“You aren’t messing with me are you?”
“No. Maybe. No, I’m not. I finished it earlier today, do you want to see it?” He had a goofy look on his face, like you wouldn’t want to see it.
“I would love to see it!”
He grabbed your arm and dragged you out of bed. You were allowed to walk around the factory but it still left you dizzy after walking around too long. Karl had given you a map and you had been around enough to know where you were going but there was still so much going on.
Fortunately Karl didn’t walk far as he led you down a hallway with a dead end.
“Not too far from the room so you won’t get lost,” he said condescendingly. You shoved him but he just smiled his little sarcastic smile at you. He kicked at the wall and a door opened just a little bit. You watched as he moved the very small door open to reveal a small cubby hole of a room. It was tall enough to fit the both of you which was preferred so you could both get in and out. There were blankets inside, along with things to entertain yourself.
You clapped your hands and fell onto the comfy ground, landing on a stuffed animal, pillow and blanket. You grabbed his hand.
“Come here, lay with me.”
“Maybe later kitten, I gotta get back to work,” he told you, leaning against the door frame.
“Well at least shut the door. We don’t want our little secret getting out or else Mother Miranda will find us here as well.” He rolled his eyes and stepped inside, careful not to smush anything with his work boots. You grinned as the door shut behind him. “Five minutes,” you whispered.
He let out an annoyed sigh despite not being annoyed in the slightest.
“Five minutes.”
You pulled him down to lay with you and started to explore the small place that he had built for you.
=====
All Ethan Winters knew at this point was running away from danger. He was always exhausted when the adrenaline wore out and he was sick and tired of having to find hiding spots.
That being said, he was currently looking for a hiding spot to guard him away from the horrors of this factory.
Breath heaving, he stopped running as he came to a hallway with a dead end. He turned around, hearing the horrific sounds of something or someone gaining on him. He put his back against the wall and then fell through it, surprised to land on a pleasant cloud of pillows and blankets. Realizing that this was a room he quickly shut the door with his foot so that no one would be able to find him in here.
He held his gun in his hand and put his back against the wall, looking around feverishly. The rooms were tall but the width was very very small, just enough space for maybe two people if they were really close to each other. Blankets covered the ground, making lumps and lumps of comfort.
Ethans eyes narrowed in confusion. Had he made it outside of the factory? This definitely didn’t look like Heisenbergs doing.
You opened your eyes slowly at someone landing on your feet. Naturally you figured it was Karl so you didn’t even raise your head much as you waited for him to search the blankets to find you. As you woke up from your sleep you heard the unfamiliar breathing of someone you did not recognize.
Your eyes snapped open and your heart started to beat quickly. You stayed still but the person stood up, standing very harshly on your ankle which must have twisted it or something but it hurt like a motherfucker. You yelped and sat up, eyes narrowing in on Ethan Winters, who you recognized from some pictures. He held the gun up to you but didn’t shoot, thank God.
“Hey hey hey!” you yelled, hands up. “I’m unarmed.” He looked terribly confused and didn’t lower his gun at all. You yanked your leg back to you and moved the blankets aside to see that your ankle was twisted in some kind of way. You couldn’t even tell what he had done but his boots were heavy and so was his step.
“Who are you?” he asked, breath not slowing down to an even pace.
“Y/N. You’re Ethan yeah? You stepped on my ankle!” He lowered his gun to your ankle to look and agreed, it did not look good.
“Listen I’m sorry I’m just trying to get out of-”
The door swung open causing you both to jump in surprise.
Karl stood there, big hammer in his hand as he looked between you and Ethan. He quickly surveyed the situation and noticed you holding your ankle. One look and he could tell, Ethan had done something to it.
Ethan raised his gun to Karl, annoyed he hadn’t been able to catch a break.
Karl felt his anger bubble in his chest at the sight of you hurt. He moved forward, grabbing Ethan by the shirt and lifting him in the air.
“You think you can just come into my factory and hurt Y/N of all people?” he sneered, voice deadly. Ethan had always heard a kind of sarcastic tinge to his voice but right now he was deadly serious. It sent a chill down his spine.
You stood up, using the wall to anchor you and gingerly holding your foot up above the ground to not put pressure onto it. You put a hand on Karls arm.
“He didn’t mean to. I’m sure you have plenty of other things to crucify him for but take it out of my room.” Karl didn’t even look over at you. You and Ethan met eyes and he weighed his options on trying to get sympathy out of you. He decided he probably could’t, not with Heisenberg right there.
“I’ll be right back,” Karl muttered. He took Ethan by the shirt and threw him out the door, following close behind. You looked down at the boot prints on your blankets and sighed.
====
Karl wasn’t gone more than 20 minutes and he came rushing back to you. He hated feeling so vulnerable, knowing people had the ability to hurt him so easily through you. He opened the door to your little room and started to panic when he saw you weren’t there.
He turned around, walking swiftly, trying not to act like he was panicked, back to yours and his room. You sat on the bed, some of the blankets from the tiny room on the ground. You had a first aid kit on the bed beside you as you attempted to bandage yourself up. It looked like you were failing.
“Where the hell did you go?” he asked and he meant for it to sound angry but it came out sounding more worried. You gestured to the blanket pile.
“Needed to clean the blankets. And also wrap this ankle up. Where’s Ethan?”
“Taken care of.” He kneeled in front of you and grabbed the wrap from you. He fumbled with the first aid kit. “How do you feel? Broken? Should I cut it off?” You scoffed.
“Maybe you should. It hurts like a motherfucker.”
“Well let’s get it wrapped and see how it does.” You nodded and let his fingers work their magic. When he was done you grabbed his hands.
“Thank you Karl.”
“I’m sorry he found you. I thought I hid it well enough.”
“It was an accident, don’t worry about it.” He nodded and you kissed his forehead with a smile. “Now go wash those blankets. Those are your boot prints, mister.” He wrapped his arms around your waist and laid down on the bed beside you.
“No, but thank you for asking.”
“Pff if you weren’t comfy I would kick you out right this very second.”

Headcanons for being an Avenger with the power of persuasion
Avengers x reader
warnings:
a/n: towards the end this branches off into the fatws timeline but there’s no explicit spoilers
prompt: anonymous: “Can you do hcs for the avengers with a reader who has powers like Allison Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy?”
the avengers were a little iffy about you because......someone with your power was hard to trust at first
“mind control isn’t as fun as it sounds, you guys. i really don’t wanna keep my guard up at all times when i’m at home base” -clint
“yeah, i’m not sure if i trust this one yet. i mean, i’m totally immune to mind control, but what if they mind control someone to come after me? and they have easy access to the place?” -tony
“excuse me, did you just say you were immune to mind control?” -nat
“he most certainly is not” -wanda
i mean, you get it and all. you heard stories of the avengers’ past encounters. it couldve messed them up
and they had no character references for you
you were new and mysterious
and your powers could be dangerous if you used them the wrong way
“well, i say we take a chance on them. they might surprise us” -cap
“i knew you would say some crap like that” -tony
“i thought a surprise was the opposite of what we wanted?” -bruce
you were put on the team soon after, but you had to have a buddy on missions
*pretending that we have deaf/hoh!clint like in the comics* you were buddied up with clint since your powers were auditory
“you can’t sign me an involuntary command, can you?” -clint
“no, sir” -you
“cool, cool, cool” -clint
stealth looked good on you, ngl
you were able to get behind heavy gunmen and whisper commands to them
“simon says you are an avenger now, shoot the enemy” -you
“simon says i am your new boss, take out your ex-coworkers” -you
“simon says give me your keycard” -you
“simon says i’m not the enemy, you are” -you
“not bad down there, y/n!” -sam
“thanks! now can somebody give me a lift to that one all the way up there?” -you
you proved yourself that day, so everyone got a lot more comfortable with you
and you made a promise that day that you’d never use your powers on them
but occasionally someone would ask you a simple favor, like putting them to sleep or making them focus on a project
“i think the focus one could be a fire hazard” -you
“so just come and get me! or let me die, that’d be fine, too” -tony
“whatever...simon says focus on the new tech” -you
time went by and things got tough, especially when the sokovia accords rolled in
“i wasn’t even there for that, mr. secretary” -you
“and i’m aware of that, mx. l/n, but you still pose a threat to people around the world. you have the means to walk into any place you want and do anything you want. you can see how that makes people uneasy, don’t you?” -ross
“i’ve never used my abilities for anything but good” -you
“what y/n is trying to say is—” -steve
“he knows what i’m trying to say, but apparently that’s the issue” -you
you were “grounded” with wanda
and pretty pissed about it
“i can understand why i’m here, y/n, but you? what did you do?” -wanda
“i intimidate men in charge, i guess” -you
sounds about right, huh?
but clint broke you out
“finallyyyyy! vision is such a drag” -you
and when you got to germany, you were conflicted with yourself
should you use your powers on the teammates who wanted you locked away?
if you got into their comms, you could stop it in an instant
but that’d take some time
“hi, simon(e)! i’m, uh, scott! i think you’re pretty neat!” -scott (p.s. y/n’s hero name is simon/simone. whatever you prefer idrc)
“thanks...and what do you do?” -you
“he shrinks!” -sam
you snuck out to the pavement and tried to hack their comms, but could only do it one at a time
so you got the spider kid
“simon says stick the cat man to the side of the plane” -you
but that cat had claws
alright, it might be harder than you think
“oh god, simon(e)?” -scott
“what is it?” -you
“i’m a little nervous for my next trick...would it be too much to ask if you did your little command thing for me?” -scott
“ughhhhh...simon says, go on with your ‘trick’” -you
and all the sudden he shot up into the air
“oh, nice” -you
you really hated fighting with these guys, but you were out of options and now cap wanted you to come with him, he wouldn’t leave without you
“steve, i’m sorry. simon says leave without us” -you
and that he did, which left you to be caught by a hair
“so close, weren’t you?” -tony
“simon says go to hell” -you
“very funny, guess i’m immune to mind control, after all” -tony
having a mouth restraint place on you that tony had been saving ever since you joined the team
one that “team cap” heavily protested the second they saw it
“tony, that’s wrong! don’t you trust them enough not to do that? they’re going to hate you after all of this” -wanda
“it’s either me or them. at least mine is comfortable” -tony
kinda fucked lol but understandable ig
having to testify without a voice, only able to type or write
but eventually you made your case and were able to make a deal, but part of that deal was to keep your mouth sealed when in the presence of authority since your voice was deemed a weapon ;)
kinda a dick move if you ask me
so you said fuck that and became a fugitive with steve + friends
but used your powers less and less
again, only for favors because it was hard to get peace in these crappy motels
“simon says kill that roach, oh god” -you @ steve
“you were an avenger and you can’t kill a roach?” -sam
“don’t start with me, sam, or you’re sleeping on the floor” -you
“you wouldn’t” -sam
“don’t test me” -you
waiting and waiting for some kind of turning point that didnt come until alien invasion 2.0
and you tried so hard to stop thanos from snapping, but the stones got the best of you as you were frozen in time
but fortunately you didn’t dust
leaving you to get a rematch against thanos when the time would come
and reuniting with tony just for him to lecture you with the rest of the team
“go fuck yourself, tony” -you
“oh, thank god they didn’t say ‘simon says’” -that raccoon you’ve known for like 3 weeks
“do you ever shut up?” -you
“no, he does not” -nebula
anyways your time did not come and you waited five years for another chance
and although you did not redeem yourself on your own, you were just glad that your side, humanity, had won
but just before thanos had ceased to exist, you told him
“simon says to feel the pain of loss for all of eternity” -you
it may have been cruel, but it’s what he deserved
the next step was for you and sam to be pardoned of your crimes
but you didn’t exactly part ways just because...what else was there for you to do? the two of you were close after your time on the run
and all was well until he decided to give the shield up
“oh, bucky’s gonna be pissed” -you
“he’ll be fine” -sam
now, bucky had mixed feelings about you
he was nervous about your powers, but you did save him
and he knew what it felt like not to be trusted
so he gave you a chance and partnered with you after the “new captain america” and the “flag smashers” fiasco
legally, if you used your powers on a government official/soldier you’d go back in the slammer, but it was quite tempting, even if it were just a “simon says punch yourself in the face”
and off to madripoor you went with...zemo
“are you going to persuade me into something petty, mx. l/n?” -zemo
“i’ve gotta make it worth it, honestly, but there’s no rule against me doing so, so at least i won’t feel bad” -you
and who knows what’s next?

"Doooope" "Definitely Lark or Sparrow"
I remember seeing someone call Sparrow a furry
I think that is good idea for flexibility because I did not think if that because if I'm honest I only trust TJ to drive we saw what Lark and Sparrow driving was like
Can TJ still like use magic
THE LAUGHTER THAT THAT CAME OUT OF ME I CAN NOT DESCRIBE NEAR TEARS IM TELLING YOU NEAR TEARS

What did your dad teach you Glenn
This is why they're doing different sections
...I can barely do a regular reverse turn...
"I'M ONLY DOING THIS BECAUSE I WAANT TO FATHER"
Straight cut to "A few quick things in no specific order"
This is about what I expected with Willy as his father
Terry Jr. is having an existential crisis
Roooonnn
Understeer????
GlArK
"My son's name is not Glark" "HAVE YOU BEEN CALLING ME GLARK AND I JUST HAVEN'T NOTICED"
Not quoting the handbook
W-was Ron used as a getaway driver
TJ is big brain
"Use morse code" "Ok anyone wanna teach me morse code"
I just imagine Glenn turning around and like the Office "Quite an imagination on this kid"
"I'm in a dark place" respectable. thanks for being honest.
Honestly that's what I was thinking. Actually very close to that tune.
AWWWWWWW
CYCLISTS
I love you so much Sparrow

A 23!!!
Awwwwwwww poor baby nonononono
AWWWWW RONNN COMFORTING TJ
I'm not sure if you can tell who's my favorite father-son duo (or characters im general)
Noooooo Terrrryyyy (but like honestly SAME)
A VESPA
HE'S NOT THE DRIVER BUT LIKE STILL I KINDA THINK IT'S THE BEST CHOICE
"I know!"
"I purely know maps I'm the advocate"
CALLOUTS
This is the perfect team up
"And then also Sparrow"
"Idk we can tie them to like a stick or something"
Oh yeah the pillars
Doug is better than literally all philosophers
NONONONO
Is...Ron meta?
Not Elizabeth Warden
OH FVCK
That...doesn't sound good cause like...the underground part
mnnnmmnnnmmmnnn bombssss
"There was this show called Chernobyl" PFFT-
Yesss Bomb shelter beer
Ron's a genius
Hesoundsalittlesalty
"Sounds like somebody cares"
It doesn't sound like we'll make it to ep. 69
The humming is so funny to me
Ron *is* meta
I would LOVE to figure out what Glenn is actually thinking about Nick
YA KNOW WHAT THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM
I don't think mentally I'm ready for what is going to come out
I SCREAMED emotionally i am not recovered from loosing Nick hypothetically I am completely very ok it
*Cooooool*
Just the way he said it Hennrrrryyyyy
"Well, that sounds healthy"
He's really switching this conversation at them
We love Ron-Glenn solidarity

When you know
AN: There’s nothing like getting drunk and singing karaoke to bring two people together.
Characters: Spencer Reid, Emily Prentiss, Derek Morgan, Penelope Garcia
Pairings: Spencer Reid x reader
Spoilers: None
Warnings: Mentions of crime and violence, alcohol
Prompt: “Hey ! Can you do a spencer imagine about him bringing his crush to the bar with the team and they have a drunk karaoke night and he confesses his feelings for her ? 🥺”
------------------
By the time the phone finally rang, it was nearly 8pm and you’d drifted off into a restless sleep on the couch in your living room. The sound woke you up and you groaned at your empty apartment, fumbling around until you felt the cool metal against your skin.
“Mmhmm?” You hummed, still half asleep.
“Y/N?” Spencer said.
Your heart jumped at the sound of your friend’s voice. You’d been waiting for him to call all day but, when you glanced at the clock and saw how late it was, you decided that you couldn’t let him know that.
“Go away.”
Even through the phone you could hear Spencer shift his weight from one foot to the other, “Y/N/N I’m sorry-“
“No, stop it, I’m still mad at you,” you interrupted without any real malice, “you promised me dinner, Spencer Reid. It’s 8pm.”
“I had a case,” he laughed, “what did you expect me to do? Rush home before we were done?”
“No, that would be unreasonable,” you answered, rolling onto your back, “I expected you to do your job faster so that I wouldn’t have to spend hours wasting away in my apartment.”
“Wasting away?”
“Wasting away!” You repeated, “you should see me, Spence, I’m positively faint from hunger.”
He chuckled through the phone and you could hear the exhaustion in his voice slipping away. The thought made you smile. If there was anything you prided yourself on, it was your ability to make Spencer Reid smile. He may have been a genius, but you were funny so, if you think about it, who was the real winner?
“I’m serious!” You insisted, “I should take you to court, mister. I’ll have you know it’s illegal to keep a girl waiting like this on a Friday night.”
“I think your definition of illegal could probably use some brushing up,” Spencer teased, “and by the way? It’s doctor.”
“Oooooh I’m sorry,” you smiled, “Doctor.”
Spencer laughed again, and you felt a familiar tingle rush through your stomach. You’d known Spencer for quite some time now but, no matter how often you talked, there was something about his voice that always made you weak at the knees.
You’d met at a coffee shop near your house when he’d tripped over your bag and nearly turned your crisp white work shirt into a soggy, caffeinated mess. As it happened, the coffee had narrowly missed you, and you’d insisted on buying him a new one, forcing him to sit down and relax. You’d ended up talking for nearly an hour and, when you arrived the next day, Spencer was already there, with your coffee order in hand. After that, well, you’d been inseparable.
Spencer hummed, “How about I make it up to you? My friends and I are going out tonight, do you wanna come?”
You sat up, “Friends? What friends? Your crime fighting pals?”
You could practically hear him roll his eyes fondly, “You know we’re not technically crime fighters, we’re closer to detectives in the classic sense.”
“Okay, fine, your detective buddies. Either way I’m so there. Where should I meet you?” You replied.
As Spencer listed off the address you rushed to your room, searching the closet for something suitable to wear. You’d never met Spencer’s friends before and you knew you wanted to make a good impression.
—————————
When Spencer hung up, he was somewhere between nervous and excited. It had been too long since he’d seen you face-to-face and the idea of you being right there in front of him in less than twenty minutes was nearly intoxicating.
“She’s coming?” Morgan asked.
“He looks way too happy for her to have said no,” Prentiss smiled.
“Ooooo we get to meet her?” Garcia asked, clapping her hands with excitement.
“It’s about time,” Morgan agreed.
Spencer blushed, “You guys promised you’d be nice.”
“What? I’m nice!” Prentiss argued.
“Yeah, Reid, you've got nothing to worry about. We’ll all be on our best behavior around Lover Girl, I promise,” Morgan said, crossing his heart.
“Derek,” Garcia chided, slapping his arm softly, “her name is, Y/N and she’s about to become my new best friend.”
Spencer smiled as Morgan and Prentiss jumped in, each arguing as to why you were more likely to be their best friend. It comforted his nerves, knowing how much his friends already cared about you. It made sense, after all they’d been listening to him talk about you for months now. In fact, it was Garcia’s idea for him to go back to that coffee shop in the first place. He’d never been more nervous than he was that day, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and hoping you didn’t think he was an absolute creep for getting the order right.
Luckily, you hadn’t, and that had been the start of the most agonizing few months of his life. They were incredible, of course, because you were incredible, but he’d also never felt more out of his depth. He’d had crushes before but with you things felt different, more urgent somehow, like the clock was ticking his time with you away. Maybe it was because he knew he wasn’t right for you, that he worked too much and kept you waiting and never had enough time, and he was just waiting for you to get fed up with waiting on him. Maybe it was because you were so wonderful that it didn’t make sense for someone to not be crazy about you, someone who could give you everything you deserved, someone who definitely wasn’t Spencer. Either way, every moment he had with you was precious, which is why he’d waited so long to introduce you to the BAU. He may have been an adult but, in his heart, Spencer Reid was still an only child and he’d never been good at sharing.
His phone beeped.
Hey! I’m outside...come say hi?
“Shhh!” Spencer said, his heart jumping into his throat as he waved his arms around to silence his friends, “everyone shut up! She’s here.”
Garcia squealed, “Really?”
“Be cool, babygirl,” Morgan smiled, “what are you waiting for, Lover Boy? Go get her!”
Spencer fought down a smile, “Okay, let’s go over the rules: no talking about work, no making her feel weird, no mentioning me talking about her, no inviting her to join the FBI for no reason and no embarrassing stories. Got it?”
“You’ve got it,” Prentiss promised, “like Morgan said, best behavior.”
Garcia looked like she was about to explode with excitement, but she nodded anyway and Morgan wrapped an arm around her shoulder comfortingly, giving Spencer a wink as he did.
“Deep breaths, kid,” he said softly, “it’s gonna be fine.”
Spencer nodded and pushed himself up out of the booth, shooting his friends a double thumbs up as he half walked, half jogged his way to the front of the bar.
When he saw you he froze for a second, his heart literally stuttering in his chest as he took you in. You were beautiful, the small part of his brain that was still functioning supplied, so beautiful that it actually hurt to look at you. He thought he’d be used to the way you made him feel by now but, whether it was the distance or some other magic unique to you, every single time still hit him like a ton of bricks and he was suddenly twelve years old again.
Just then you spotted him, and your face lit up with happiness, shocking Spencer back into action. You rushed over and pulled him close, letting him bury his face in your hair, breathe in your soft, fruity smell and relish in the sudden rush of comfort he felt being in your arms again.
“Spencer!” You cheered as you broke apart, holding onto his forearms and looking him up and down, “Oh my goodness, look at you! You look so nice.”
“Look at me? Look at you!” He responded, trying not to let on how hard he’d tried putting his outfit together, “Not bad for someone on the very brink of starvation.”
“Ah, you flatter me,” you joked, letting him go and adjusting your purse strap.
Spencer noticed the way you were shifting on your feet and fiddling with the hem of your jacket and he felt his heart pinch.
“Hey,” he said, “are you nervous?”
You laughed breathlessly, “That obvious, huh?” You smiled and shrugged, “I don’t know, I just want to make a good impression. This is your family, I want them to like me.”
Spencer bumped your shoulder with his, a rush of happiness bubbling up in his chest at the way you said family. He’d never told you that about the BAU, you’d just known. Just like you’d known a million little things about him that he’d never thought anyone would ever know. Just like you’d known on that first day that he needed someone to talk to. You just knew, and wasn’t that it’s own sort of genius?
“They’re gonna love you,” he assured, injecting sincerity into every word, “trust me.”
You nodded and took a deep breath in, steeling yourself against your nerves and forcing on a smile, “okay. I’m ready.”
And with that, Spencer walked you in. As soon as you stepped into the bar he felt your muscles tense. It was a small bar, cosy and warm, with a stage and a microphone set up for karaoke.
“It’s a karaoke bar?” You hissed, “You didn’t tell me it was a karaoke bar!”
“I didn’t think it was relevant,” Spencer shrugged, “here we are.”
“Y/N!” Garcia greeted, jumping up, “Hi! I mean, hello! I’m Garci-Penelope! I’m Penelope!”
Spencer smiled as he felt your muscles relax and Garcia pulled you into a hug. You laughed, but responded just as enthusiastically.
“Hi! I-uh-I guess you all know my name then,” you grinned.
“Oh shoot,” Garcia said, “sorry, I broke a rule.”
Spencer shot her a panicked look, flushing bright red as you raised your eyebrows at him.
“Don’t mind Garcia,” Prentiss cut in, rescuing Spencer from having to explain, “we're all just really glad to meet you. I’m Emily.”
She reached out to shake your hand and, with that, you took a seat next to Spencer and normal conversation resumed. Morgan and Garcia launched back into their banter while Emily asked questions about your job and when you’d moved to the city. It was easy and normal and...so, so strange.
Spencer was almost painfully aware of how close you were; your leg brushing his under the table, your shoulder nudging his with every little movement you made. He tried to stay focused on what was going on at the table, tried to follow the conversation and add value, but he couldn’t keep the stories straight. Time didn’t make sense anymore. Spencer was completely lost in the unbelievable happiness of having all the people he cared about in one place.
At some point during the night, an immeasurable amount of time later, Morgan bought drinks. That was a mistake. It was a mistake because now you were tipsy and your head was on his shoulder and Spencer thought his head might actually explode with the effort of not blurting out how much he liked you right then and there. You were laughing at something Emily had said, just chuckling like it was the most natural thing in the world and Spencer felt his heart literally swell.
“We should sing!” Garcia said suddenly.
You gasped, slapping Spencer’s thigh with excitement, your whole face lighting up like it was christmas.
“Yes! Yes yes yes! We should sing!” You agreed, “Don’t you think, Spence?? Don’t you think we should sing?”
Spencer laughed and shook his head, “No! No, I don’t sing. Trust me, you don’t want to hear that.”
“Pleeeeaaaaase?” You whined, turning to face him fully and fluttering your eyelashes, “please, Spence?”
Damn those eyes, he thought to himself, feeling his skin flush under the weight of your stare. Maybe this would be easier if he was drunk. He couldn’t say no to you at the best of times but, when you’re pouting at him like that, with full puppy dog eyes? Oh yeah, he was beyond putty in your hands. Spencer could practically taste Morgan’s smug look.
He rolled his eyes fondly, giving in to the inevitable, “What would we even sing?”
Somehow, your smile grew infinitely bigger and Spencer’s heart did that thing where it jumped into his throat and stuttered at the same time.
“Thank you! You’re the best!” You turned to Garcia, “Well? You coming, ‘Nel?”
“You betcha!” Garcia smiled, pulling you up and towards the stage.
At the last second you reached out and grabbed Spencer’s hand, laughing your head off as you went. His skin felt like it was on fire where you touched him, little shocks of electricity running through every inch of skin that touched yours. It was a little ridiculous really, how quickly Spencer lost his head when you touched him. All that genius, all those years of schooling sharpening his mind into a finely crafted machine and all he could think about was the feeling of skin on skin, and the smell of your hair.
The stage was sticky. The microphone was pitchy and jarring. Everything was way too much, and completely dull at the same time because all he could see was you. You and Garcia were hunched over a screen, laughing and talking as you picked a song. The music started and you grabbed the microphone, smiling over at him like it was nothing. Spencer knew he should be nervous, he should be hating every second of being up on stage in front of a group of strangers but, for some reason, he wasn’t. He was happy and calm and like ten other adjectives that almost never described him in the hours after a case, but that seemed to follow you around like a shadow.
You opened your mouth, too drunk to be properly singing, but still sober enough to be almost on key, “Here’s the thing, We started off friends-”
Garcia joined in, “It was cool but it was all prete-end, yeah yeah,”
“Since you been gone!”
You waved him over and Spencer followed, letting you point out the screen where the words appeared line by line. To be in front of the mic, Spencer had to lean in towards you and woah that’s close. He could count every single eyelash and see individual flakes of glitter against your skin, but he pushed the image down, tucking it away into the back of his mind somewhere for him to take out again when he was alone. All this happened in a split second, just long enough for Spencer to remember where he was and snap back into the present.
“You dedicated, you took the time,” The three of you sang together, trying to stifle laughter when Garcia tried to harmonize, “It wasn’t long before I called you mi-ine, yeah yeah, Since you been gone!”
You closed your eyes, throwing your head back as you sang and drawing Spencer in even closer.
“And all you’d ever hear me say Is how I picture me with you! That’s all you’d ever hear me say!”
You opened your eyes, turning to Garcia as the music swelled.
“But since you been gone! I can breathe for the fiiiiiirst tiiiiiiime, I’m so moving on, YEAH YEAH” you screamed together, even Spencer giving into the music for a moment, “Thanks to you! Now I get! I get what I waaaaaaaant! Since you been gone!”
Spencer couldn’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation and, when he did, you met his eye and followed suit, doubling over and clutching your stomach as you laughed together, Spencer wrapped an arm around your waist and helped you up so that you could support Garcia as her back up singers. It was silly and goofy and fun, and Spencer didn’t really want it to end because it meant he could be close to you. It meant he had a reason to be close to you that wasn’t just his own selfishness and it felt like you wanted to be close to him too.
As the song came to an end and Garcia warbled out a final, “since you been gone”, Spencer found himself just looking at you, something thrumming just below the surface in his chest. His arm was still around your waist, just a friend supporting another friend, that’s all, totally innocent. Except that it wasn’t because he was looking at you like you were salvation and he could feel it happening, he just didn’t care. Because it was obvious, wasn’t it? It was obvious that he loved you. He’d maybe always loved you, ever since that day at the coffee shop and maybe that was okay. Maybe it was okay that he loved you even though he didn’t deserve you because, well, you knew him. You knew Spencer in a way that only one or two people in his entire life had ever known him and you still seemed to like him, you still looked at him like he was something special and precious.
Garcia pulled you both off the stage, bowing to the smattering of applause from the crowd and the whoops and hollers from the table where his friends were sitting. Instinctively, Spencer tugged you back, shooting Garcia an apologetic look, which she accepted with a nod and a subtle smile. His heart was in his throat but, when you turned and looked back at him, tilting your head in confusion, he felt sure.
“Hey-uh-can we-” he paused, smiling sheepishly as he felt himself flush, “can we talk, quickly?”
You frowned, concerned, but nodded and let him pull you aside, and Spencer loved you so much for it that he wanted to scream. Looking around, he managed to spy a somewhat empty corner of the bar, far enough away from the stage that you’d be able to talk without having to raise your voice. It wasn’t perfect, if he’d known-well-if he’d known how tonight was going to go he would have planned something more romantic, but he didn’t and the idea of knowing how he felt and not telling you about it made him feel sick. Because it all made sense now, the sense of urgency, the way his crush on you had never felt like a crush, the way one conversation with you felt just like three hours of uninterrupted reading. It all made sense and he needed you to know, right now, before he got called away on another case and you were apart for God knows how long. He needed you to know.
“Spence?” You asked as soon as you were in the corner, “What’s going on, did I do something wrong?”
“What? No! No-Y/N-you’re-” he started, forcing himself out of his head and back into the moment, “you’ve been incredible. You are incredible, which is sort of what I wanted us to talk about-or-no not exactly?” he rambled, his thoughts and feelings tripping and stumbling over one another in an attempt to find just the right combination of words for the way he was feeling, “I mean it is-you are-but I realised that you’ve always-ugh, sorry-”
“Hey,” you chuckled gently, taking one of his hands in both of yours, “it’s okay, just slow down. We’re not all super geniuses, you know?”
Spencer paused, taking a deep breath and letting his thoughts catch up with one another. God, you really were the most beautiful person he’d ever seen, some part of him noted, and your smile….When you smiled at him like you were right then, like he was the only person in the room, like there was nowhere else you’d rather be than right there in that dingy karaoke bar, all his fears just kind of...went away. He could still feel them, if he really tried, but they were distant, locked up in another room, behind a metal door with a padlock on it. They were so far away and you were so close and wasn’t that more important?
“I’m in love with you,” he heard himself say, “I think I’ve been in love with you for a long time, and I know that-I know that you don’t owe me anything, and I’m not trying to pressure you, or force you to do anything, I just thought you should know because-because it’s the truth, and I think you deserve the truth.” he paused, wishing that he could gauge some sort of reaction besides the slight widening of your eyes, “And the truth is that I’m in love with you, Y/N, and-”
Thankfully, you kissed him before he had to figure out how to finish that sentence. He barely had time to notice you leaning in before your lips were on his, soft and sure, like you were answering a question, or saying a prayer. Everything else faded away, nothing was as important as you and, without even thinking, Spencer kissed you back, wrapping his arms around your waist and tugging you closer. Your fingers threaded through his hair and he sighed against your lips, some small part of his brain wondering if kissing was supposed to feel this good. Had it ever felt like this before? Had he ever wanted like this before? No, not until you. Because you were different, you’d always been different and, if the way you whispered his name against his mouth when he nipped at your bottom lip was anything to go by, you’d always been his, and he just hadn’t known it.
He could have stayed like that forever, wrapped up in your arms with the burnt sugar taste of your lips on his tongue, but eventually you had to break apart, even if it was only to breathe. Thankfully, you stayed close, resting your forehead against Spencer’s as you basked in the moment.
“I-love you too,” you chuckled breathlessly, “in case that much wasn’t blatantly obvious.”
“You know, I’d like to say I had a hunch,” he responded, “but I really didn’t.”
You rolled your eyes fondly, leaning forward to press another, much gentler kiss to his lips, “What, you thought I dressed like this for Morgan?”
There was something sinful about being able to let his eyes trace your body like this so openly, something private and intimate that made Spencer want to blush.
“I-uh-I tried very hard not to think about who you dressed like that for, actually,” he admitted, and then quickly continued, “not that you dress a specific way for anybody, or that there’s anything wrong if you do it’s just-you know-women can dress how they like, and there’s nothing intrinsically identifiable in the way a woman dresses that allows a person to truly know what she wants or doesn’t want. Not that you want anything, I just-”
You cut him off with another kiss and Spencer melted into it gratefully. He could feel you smiling into the kiss and, for once, he was grateful for his rambling. For once, Spencer Reid couldn’t think of a single thing he’d change about himself, because you loved him and that was too good a thing for him to want to mess with.

as the world caves in | ch. 6 | bucky barnes x reader
synopsis: You are a ghost story. A former Air Force pilot who had her plane shot down by Germany in 1945, but here you were in 2023, alive and frozen in your 25-year-old body.
You haven’t seen Bucky since the 1940’s, before his fall, before you went on a suicide mission only to come back alive. You aren’t sure reliving those memories – and being a living memory of everything the man has lost – is the best for him.
But you and Bucky won’t be apart for long.
This will loosely follow the plot of TFATWS - so spoilers ahead, specially regarding episode four. Thread carefully!

notes: The following chapter is finally here! It took me a while to revise it because I wanted the action scenes to not suck super badly, so yeah.
(warnings: mentions of death, gunshots, blood, injuries) (word count: 3K)
six: shield
You sat next to Sam as he typed in a computer and Helmut Zemo nursed his headache. Once he gained consciousness, he’d showered you in gratitude and niceties, and you were already close to knocking him out yourself.
T-minus what, four hours? The Dora Milaje would be there soon enough.
It’s he the one to break the comfortable silence, only filled by the soft clicking of Sam’s keyboard before.
“Were you ever offered it?”
“What?”
“The serum.”
“No.” Sam said, raising an eyebrow at you with an amused expression. You shrugged.
“If you had been, hypothetically, that is, would you have taken it?”
Sam’s mouth turned down, and he slowly turned to Zemo.
“No.”
“No hesitation, that’s impressive.”
You got up from the table, making a round so you could watch Zemo’s face as he spoke. He’d seen you usher Karli Morgenthau out of the factory basement, and you wondered what he had made of your actions.
“Sam, you can’t hold out hope for Karli.” His eyes met yours as he said that, and you looked away, circling a pillar and walking to be on the other side of the couch, by his feet. “No matter what you saw in her, she’s gone.”
You sighed. “You talk in absolutes. People aren’t like that, Zemo.”
He studied you again.
“And we cannot allow that she and her acolytes become yet another faction of gods amongst people. Super Soldiers cannot be allowed to exist.”
Zemo spoke with such conviction that you were sure you’d be also be harboring a bullet if he knew who, and what, you were.
“Isn’t that how gods talk? And if that’s how you feel, what about Bucky?” Sam’s eyes flitted to you, and you offered him a tight smile. “Blood isn’t always the solution.”
When Steve had talked to you about handing over the shield for the first time you were doubtful. He was grieving the loss of his own time – your time, too – and second-guessing his own claim to it.
You never stopped believing in Steve when he did. You and Bucky were war. Steve was… the end of it. And not just because of the serum. He was that since you all were small and scrawny, him a little scrawnier and a little smaller, as he stopped you and Bucky from butting heads.
For Steve, you, and Bucky as well, that shield meant everything. It meant the salvation of the world from true evil, that in the 1940’s was personified in the form of a little man with a moustache. Whoever carried it carried the responsibility of being the harbinger of that freedom. Of relief, justice, and most of all... hope.
So when Steve talked to you about handing over the shield a second time, this time to capable hands instead of a glass dome, you understood – it was time to pass the mantle to someone who was, indeed, a new beacon of hope.
Safe to say, the fact that John Walker now carried the shield you put so much importance into felt wrong.
“Something’s not right about Walker.” Bucky strolled in, seemingly in a sour mood. You chuckled, and watched as he discarded his things on the counter.
“You don’t say.”
“Well, I know a crazy when I see one. Because I am crazy.”
“Can’t argue with that.” Sam quipped, and you patted his shoulder affectionately when you walked past him to get Bucky to make you a drink too.
You swiped his jacket off the counter and hanged it neatly on the back of one of the barstools. Bucky licked his lips and shook his head as you mouthed ragamuffin at him.
“Pour me one.”
“Can you hold your liquor now, sugar?”
You narrowed your eyes at him and grabbed the glass he had fixed for himself.
“Now you pour yourself one.” You took a sip, smiling into the glass.
Bucky glared at Sam. “Shouldn’t have given him the shield.”
You shot Bucky a disapproving look. He raised his eyes briefly at you while pouring his drink, and shrugged.
“Buck—”
“I didn’t give him the shield.”
“Well Steve definitely didn’t.”
“James Barnes!” Goddamn Bucky and his hard-headed self.
Bucky looked at you like he used to look at his mother, wide eyed, like he’d been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. It only lasted for a second, his bewilderment falling into a scowl right after. Behind you, Sam chuckled.
You shook your head at Bucky, but you had no time to fall into an argument. The one and only John Walker and Lemar Hoskins were bursting in, demanding to take Zemo. Ordering, really.
“Hey, slow your roll.” Sam said firmly. “Man, let’s be clear. Shield or no shield, the only thing you’re runnin’ in here is your mouth.”
You bottomed up your whiskey, knowing whatever was to come couldn’t be good.
“Now, I had Karli and you overstepped. He’s actually proven himself useful today. And we’re gonna need all hands on deck for whatever’s coming next.”
Walker challenged Sam next. He looked eager and ready for a fight, and as much as you’d loved to keep your real abilities hidden, you figured your time out of the spotlight was running out. Bucky looked at you from the corner of his eye, relaxed stance contrasting with the tightness of his jaw. Zemo paced behind Sam, still clutching his own drink.
The moment Walker put down the shield an iron spear cut the air and lodged itself into the pilaster, separating him and Sam.
No, not iron. Vibranium.
The Dora Milaje.
“Even if he is a means to your end… Time’s up.” Ayo announced in Xhosa. You grimaced.
You sighed heavily when John decides to one-up them, too. Ayo swings the spear at his arm when he touches his shoulder and a fight breaks out. You reached for the liquor again.
There wasn’t enough alcohol in the world.
The fight was only Walker and Hoskins getting absolutely overpowered by the warriors while you, Bucky, Sam and Zemo stayed out of it.
“We should do something.”
You swirled your drink, taking a small sip. “I am. I’m observing.”
“Looking strong, John!” Bucky shouted, making you have to hide a snort. Sam exhaled heavily.
“Such a diplomat, you. Bucky…”
“I’m a lot of things, Samuel.” You shrugged, but finished your drink anyways and hiked up your sleeves.
You, Bucky and Sam all ran to take one of the Doras each. As one kicked Hoskins to the couch you stepped in front of him, blocking the hit of her spear with your forearm.
You met her eyes and tilted your head apologetically. When she raised her weapon again you twisted your body and landed a back kick to her middle.
She staggered back a couple of steps but was back at you in an instant.
Hit. Block. Kick. Another hit to your shoulder.
Even if the fight was fairly balanced, Super Soldier against Dora Milaje, you knew you had a slim chance of actually winning. You hadn’t been in a fight in years, much less with someone this capable and trained.
After blocking another of your strikes with her spear, she hit the side of your left knee. It’s your bad one.
East Berlin, 1987. You had been undercover for nearly two weeks now, tracking a lead about the existence of a HYDRA lab that was conducting experiments with new Super Soldiers.
The wind that cut through the rooftop of the building you stood on testing the very limits of the overcoat you wore on top of your tactical suit. So damn cold. You tried not to dwell on how frigid your toes were inside of your boots, instead concentrating on watching the sun slip behind the skyline.
You were waiting on a man that would give you the next lead. Intel said he would be there before you, but he wasn’t when you got there. 10 minutes had gone past the accorded meeting time, and you were starting to think that no one was coming.
A bullet ricocheted on the concrete pillar you were stood behind, and you realized why S.H.I.E.L.D.’s contact was running late. You grabbed your own pistol, still hidden by the concrete, and peeked in the direction the shot had come from.
A man and a woman, in full leather. You saw the red star etched on their left arms as they marched towards you. HYDRA.
You had two exit options, one that was across the rooftop or jumping down into River Spree. Either way, you’d have to deal with the two HYDRA agents that approached you.
You ran to another pillar, shooting at them. You hit the woman on the leg, and she buckled down. Her counterpart didn’t even spare her a look, continuing his way to you. You kept shooting, missing a few and landing the rest on the both of them, the guy barely flinching.
You didn’t understand why he wasn’t using his own gun. Maybe he didn’t feel the need for one.
There was no time for thinking. The man was onto you; swatting your gun away, blocking your punch, hitting your chest. You crashed into concrete.
The woman joined in, landing a hard blow to the side of your skull. Your eyes widened. They were just as strong as you.
Super Soldiers.
You crawled away from them, hand swatting at your leg for your knife. It landed in the woman’s throat with a squelch. One down.
The man was much stronger it seemed, you barely able to keep the fight balanced even with another of your knives. You cut and ripped, but it was like your blade was a feather on his skin.
He backed you up until the edge of the building. You could see the river below.
You groaned when he headbutted you, and you go stumbling down. The blood was hot against your face and metallic on your lips.
He stomped on your knee. Again. And again. You choked on your own agony.
His voice was all you heard before he kicked you off the ledge. You plunged into the freezing air.
Hail HYDRA.
Familiar pain laced through you, making your hairs stand on end. You cried out, nearly tumbling straight to the ground.
The clank of metal hitting the ground and a spear shot at the direction of the shield ended the fight. Bucky’s vibranium arm laid limp and detached on the ground, his expression even more perplexed than when you had scolded him earlier.
You straightened yourself up as the pain subsided. Ayo opened the doors to an empty bathroom.
Zemo. He has slipped right through your fingers while you were busy defending John Walker’s ass from the Dora Milaje.
You helped Sam to his feet as they were leaving, Ayo giving you one last stern look before leading the way out. It felt like a reminder of a debt.
“Did you know they could do that?” Sam said, looking at a limbless Bucky. The arm seemed to snap back into the right place, thank goodness for that. A failsafe, then.
“No.” Bucky rotated his arm, an indecipherable expression on his face, even for your standards.
The room was filled with tension as the three of you gathered yourselves again and John Walker sat defeated on the ground, with only Lemar to check up on him. You walked past them to get inside the bathroom, frowning at the drainage hole Zemo had made his escape through.
“I can’t believe he pulled an El Chapo,” Sam murmured.
“I can.” Bucky clenched his jaw. “Come on.”
Bucky led you through the backstreet and to the back of the building, though you weren’t sure exactly what you were looking for. A lead, maybe, but neither of you knew if Zemo had made his way all the way to the underground or escaped to the streets once he was out.
“You okay? You got hit pretty bad back there.” Sam said, looking at you. You all had taken a decent beating, but the hit to your leg had taken you by surprise. Bucky frowned.
“I’m good.” Bucky frowned deeper, and you shook your head at him, clapping Sam on the shoulder. “I got a bad knee, it’s all. Replacement cap and everything.”
Sam laughed.
“You’re 106 and have a prosthetic kneecap? Wow, you’re starting to sound your age.”
“You know what, Wilson? I think you should respect your elders.”
Sam raised his hands, still laughing. “Okay, okay. But only ‘cause I saw you kicking ass back there. Girl, where the hell have you been?”
Bucky grumbled something, and threw an arm around your shoulders.
“Retired.”
You patted his cheek lovingly, and laughed a little when you caught him fighting a smile. Sam got ahead of you, sending you a look of mischief and wiggling his eyebrows.
You urged Bucky forward, earning a huff from him as you got to Sam’s side.
Compartmentalizing was necessary. Zemo was on the loose, Walker was verging on unhinged, and there was still Karli to deal with. Whatever was going on with you and Bucky – and the insistent feeling that tugged on your heartstrings whenever you looked at him – would have to wait.
You listened to Sam’s conversation on the phone, his tone growing more concerned at every pause. Sarah. Overnight bag. Take the boys.
“What happened?” Bucky asked and you slipped from under his arm.
“Karli called Sarah. She threatened my nephews.”
Shit.
“Sam, I got a safehouse in New Orleans.” You said once he hung up. He nodded at you, and you took his phone to get his sister’s contact.
Karli was entering dangerous territory. Before, you considered her a fighter on a rightful cause, but as if predicted by Zemo, she was escalating. You feared that it was a fight you couldn’t let her win, or run free.
“Karli wants to meet. She left a contact number.” Sam’s phone chimed. “She said come alone.”
“I’m comin’ with you.” Bucky looked at you. “We are.”
“Let’s gear up, boys.”
---
You were grateful you had kept your old tactical suit inside your closet for a rainy day.
The suit was carbon black, except for the blue-grey Kevlar plating on your chest, back and upper legs. It had a faint resemblance to an armor, and the amount of impact it could absorb made you protected and difficult to take down. You completed your gear with your trusty boots and hidden knives.
Sam had changed into his wings and Bucky into his peculiar one-armed leathers.
“Damn, you look cool.”
A laugh escaped your lips. “So do you, Sam.”
Bucky cleared his throat. “We should go.”
The sky was cloudy and the air dry, and still you could feel a storm coming. You walked into the empty building, you and Bucky tailing Sam.
“Karli!”
The redhead revealed herself, standing on the second floor. Sam went to talk to her, leaving you to watch them from a distance.
Karli looked at you and Bucky there, her eyes lingering on you for a few seconds more. You realized how menacing you must have looked, the three of you in full gear, and you wondered if Bucky felt as strange about your rigid stance as you did about his.
The two of you really had changed.
“I was gonna ask you to join me. Or do the world a favor and let me go.”
If only things were that easy.
Sam looked at the screen on his wrist and turned to you in alarm.
“It’s Walker.”
A trap. Bucky was the first to leap to the ground, colliding with Karli in the process. You and Sam landed at the same time, and you hoisted Bucky up while Sam clashed with the girl.
He sent Karli to the ground with a flying kick.
“I’ll send you the location, go!”
You and Bucky leapt into the street and broke into a fast sprint as Sam took off.
“You’re fast!”
You looked to your side at Bucky, smirking. He was just a little behind you.
“I’m lighter!”
“No fair!”
“You have a metal arm!”
Bucky led you to the location Sam had sent him. Riga had plenty of empty buildings, it seemed. You were running up the stairs when a Flag Smasher jumped on you, then another on Bucky.
The guy and you dragged yourselves all the way to the top, exchanging punches. You saw his eyes widen under the mask when you landed a boot on his chest and he went flying backwards.
Taking the free time you had bought yourself, you searched for Bucky below you. As soon as you found him the Flag Smasher tackled you, hoisting your body up. You hit his shoulder blade with your elbow and he bumped into the railing, quickly turning and hanging you over the edge.
“Y/N!”
Bucky was upside down. No, that was you.
He reached for you as the other Flag Smasher had him locked in a rear choke.
“I’ve got this!”
Tightening your legs around the man, you let yourself fall, taking him with you. You crash at the bottom of the building.
“You said you had this!”
Bucky jumped to your level.
“I do!”
You stared at his scowl for a brief second before roundhouse kicking your foe and finally putting him down.
Bucky returned to you after dealing with his own Flag Smasher. He looked furious.
“You’re so fucking reckless!”
Oh, Jesus H. Christ. You couldn’t believe Bucky, wanting to argue.
“I am fine! It wasn’t that high.” You huffed. “We have no time for this, James. Let’s go.”
You ran to the top of the building, Bucky trailing behind you. He caught a flying knife right before it lodged itself on your face. He glowered at you as if to say you don’t got this.
Not sparing him a response, you busy yourself with fighting another of the Flag Smashers, this time a woman. It was like all you needed was a little warming up, because you’re clearly in advantage as you blocked her punches and grabbed her torso, slamming her into the ground next.
You looked up. John Walker was staring at you.
He didn’t have much time to dwell on whatever he saw, one of the men coming from behind and immobilizing him.
Karli screamed as she ran towards Walker. She was in it for the kill. Hoskins tackled her before she could do it. All you could make out was the blur of an altercation.
Lemar Hoskins slammed into a pillar with a crack.
Your stomach churned.
Everything stilled as Walker ran to his partner, desperately trying to get him to wake up. He slumped sideways, his head lolled down.
He was dead.
Karli and her group took advantage of the tumult and ran, her shooting one last look at the rest of you as they took off. You couldn’t let her get away this time, though, so you immediately go into pursuit.
You shot one look behind you, seeing Bucky and Sam follow you as you whizzed through the streets of Riga. You’re the first to get to the square, making your way to the middle of the crowd hastily.
Walker stoop upright, holding the shield over the body of one of the unmasked Flag Smashers.
It was broad daylight; there were dozens of people around you.
The city was silent.
He was dead.

Any Way The Wind Blows
I think I need to read this book a couple more times to really drink it in but: you did it Rainbow, you beautiful SOB!
few first impression spoilers under the cut!
- the fact there was barely any plot in 592 pages: GROUNDBREAKING. Very few authors have the courage to give the gays people everything they want from a finale! Carry On and Wayward Son were action packed: our heroes went from one trauma to the other with barely any time to process and this? this is when they slow down. When they spend one entire week on couches, eating Pret takeout, going to Ikea, and talking about their feelings. It’s hurt/comfort, healing, domestic, smut fic. And that’s very ambitious for a trilogy finale! She really Did That! And I’m forever grateful.
- Shepard! An actual monster-fucker! Also a Penelope Bunce stan! Nothing made me happier than Shepard talking about her legs for 2 pages and then telling her he might have a merpeople venereal disease. Also you better believe she’s going to slay a dozen imps and a Ken.
- Everything about the intimacy scenes? ? Simon wanting it rough and Baz craving TendernessTM and having a praise kink! Simon having a vampire kink. The whole scene about him offering Baz his blood! Also TAIL PLAY. The inherent homoeroticism of....stroking your boyfriend’s dragon appendices. Simon biting Baz everywhere. Working their way up to sex but when it happens neither of them cries (!). The fact there was sex talk. More than I ever thought possible for the book! They talk about sucking cock and being covered in spunk and I WAS ASCENDING.
- Dev being a real person! Bit of a ponce but also showing he and Baz and Niall really are friends and have that lads lads lads (but make it posh) relationship. Mordelia and the twins being real kids! I loved to see Baz with them. Of course they have him wrapped around their mean little fingers.
- Lady Ruth and Baz teaming up: we love to see it.
- LESBIAN SUPREMACY. Niamh being hot. Good for Agatha, good for her.
- I liked that Penny was completely unhinged (affectionate) and shooting spells left and right, summoning demons, committing fraud, while Baz barely used any magic at all? Just a few domestic spells that didn’t even land right. We saw him being A God in the last book (superhuman vampire strength and senses PLUS powerful mage abilities) but the fact that he was just a boy lowkey investigating with his boyfriend and shopping for couches while Penny went All In? Feels right for this book.
- My. Rosebud. Boy.
- This was a book about healing and a book about beginnings. The story ends with Carry On, Wayward Son is what happens after the Ending, and AWTWB is how to move on and live with an Ending. Tonally, it was spot on. We don’t know what happens next! We don’t know if Simon will get his powers back, or if he’ll use Excalibur to still protect the World of Mages. We don’t know if Baz will take his spot on the Coven and make a Real Change (clearly their government is still a Clusterfuck). We don’t know if Penny and Shepard will spend their lives travelling the world and having adventures and being reckless and being a Power Couple but they’re on the right track! We don’t know how Simon will handle knowing what his father did (to him, to his mum) but we know he’ll try.
- This is him trying.

The Sacrifice
Hi guys, this was an interesting concept that I thought I would try out. I haven’t quite decided if I want to leave it as a stand-alone or add a second part. Anyways, grab your bow-ties and enjoy!
You had gone on so many incredible adventures with The Doctor. As a side-effect, you had often been placed in dangerous situations, but you were never truly scared because you always knew that the Doctor would come for you. You knew that at the end of the day, everything was going to be okay because that was who he was, the man who saved the universe. You loved him with all of your heart and you chose willingly to put your faith in him.
But this time was different. This time you were absolutely terrified.
The Doctor and you had traveled to a planet to waste some time as Amy and Rory were ‘honeymooning’ in Amsterduke. You would never pass up a chance for one on one time with the Doctor and were excited to see what the day would bring.
And everything was going great, at least until the two of you were captured. When you woke up, you were being held in some type of pod. You couldn’t move to even begin to try to get out. You saw that across the room the Doctor was strapped down to some sort of table, the aliens were hovering over his seemingly unconscious body.
“Why are you doing this?” you yelled gaining their attention.
“We have been waiting for centuries to find someone with time vortex energy to use as a stabilizer. He refused us, so we are going to take away his option to disagree with us by making him autonomous,” one of the creatures said bluntly.
“What does that mean?” you asked already afraid of the answer.
“We will end his independent brain function, and put his body in a permanent state of homeostasis. But don’t worry, he won’t feel it.”
“You’re going to kill him!” you yelled.
“We have no other choice. But don’t worry, as he stabilizes the ruptures in time, his existence will be rewritten, you will not remember him,” the creature tried to reason.
Your mind rushed as you realized what it had just said and with complete confidence you said, “Use me.”
“What?” the creature, who you later learned was the leader, asked.
“I am covered with vortex energy, and am entirely willing, let me take his place,” you pleaded.
“Stop, what you are doing,” he order those that were working on the Doctor. He then turned back towards you. “You would be erased from time like you never existed.”
“I know, please, just let me take his place.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Because he is the most important man, the last of his kind, the savior of the universe. Killing him would devastate the world, but me? It wouldn’t even leave a mark.”
“Do you love him?” he asked.
“More than anything in this world,” you answered sincerely.
“Okay, we will test you, if you are compatible we will make the trade and let him go free, you have my word.”
With that, you were escorted to another room where a female came in and ran tests.
“You are very brave,” she said.
“Thank you,” you mumbled.
“Don’t worry, we can make it to where you will never feel it.”
“What if you don’t? What if I want to stay cognizant? To be able to remember everything?”
“You would be in agonizing pain, why would you want that?”
“Because then I wouldn’t lose him.”
“It would ultimately be up to you, though I wouldn’t recommend it.”
The tests came back and it was confirmed that you were compatible. The leader came back in and said that it was the most honorable thing to make a sacrifice for love. He asked if there was anything that you wanted to do before they put you in the capsule. You asked him for the chance to say goodbye to the Doctor and the ability to make a phone call to assure he’d be taken care of afterward. He agreed.
As you were led back to the room, you tried to prepare yourself. You knew that you could never tell him what you were about to do. He would try to talk you out of it, but the leader had been clear that it was you or the Doctor. If you tried to escape, he would kill you both and after what you witnessed earlier, you knew that he could. You took comfort in the fact that the Doctor wouldn’t remember any of this. You knew that if he did he would blame himself and it would absolutely tear him apart. But it was okay because he never would.
You put a brave face on and pushed the door open. The doctor was now sitting up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. He still looked awful, but managed to shoot you a weak smile as you entered.
“I don’t know how you did it, but you saved me, they are letting us go,” the Doctor said.
“Well, I figured it was my turn. You’re always saving me,” you replied taking a seat beside him. ‘But not this time’ you thought.
“I just need about an hour to recover and then we can go back to the TARDIS and forget any of this ever existed.”
Those words hurt you and you hadn’t really realized that you’d started crying until the Doctor reached up to wipe your tears.
“Y/n? What’s the matter?”
“It’s nothing, I’m just glad that you’re okay. I was scared for a minute there,” you answered.
‘Even if that means that I will never see you again’
“Come on Y/n, I’ll always be okay as long as I’ve got you,” he promised.
This sentence brought more tears, which caused him to pull you into his arms with a painful inhale. You had to remind yourself that this was the only way. It was either you or him. And he would be fine, he wouldn’t remember you, he’d still have the Ponds and River. He would still be the Doctor, alive to fight another day.
Without really thinking, you whispered, “I love you.”
“I love you too, Y/n,” he whispered into your hair.
The two of you stayed like that until there was a knock on the door signaling that your time was up. You felt like it wasn’t enough time, but you knew deep down that no amount of time could have ever felt like it was enough.
“That’s my cue, I have to go check on something. Just stay here and rest up,” you faked a reassuring smile.
“Oh, okay,” the Doctor said with confusion in his voice. He could tell that something was off, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was.
You gave him a tight squeeze and in a moment of weakness you kissed him. You hadn’t even really meant to do it, but something inside of you took over. The Doctor was slightly caught off guard, but happy nonetheless. Another knock was heard at the door and you pulled away, leaving the Doctor with a slight pout.
You walked towards the door, knowing better than to turn around and look at him again. He mistakenly took this for embarrassment over the kiss.
“Was I that bad?” he joked, longing for you to smile over your shoulder and laugh.
But as you refused to look at him, he realized that it was something else. You hesitated for a moment as you reached the door and said, “Goodbye Doctor, thanks for the adventures,” and without missing a beat exited the room.
“Wait? What do you mean goodbye? Y/n?” he asked trying to push himself to his feet ignoring the aching in his muscles and the fire in his lungs. He watched as the door shut behind you and tried to force it open. His hearts sank as he realized that his feeling that something was wrong was being confirmed. He forced himself over to his suit jacket to get his sonic, knowing deep down that he was running out of time. But it wasn’t there, someone must’ve taken it.
He was starting to panic, he was trapped in here while you were out there. He wasn’t there to protect you. He was also incredibly frustrated as he now knew that you were hiding something from him, him. That could only mean that you were about to do something incredibly stupid, something that you didn’t think he’d be able to fix, something you didn’t want him to see. A tear rolled down his cheek, that wasn’t your decision to make. He forced himself back over to the door, and tried to open it. The exertion eventually came to much and he sunk down with his back against the wall. He felt so helpless, this was all his fault. And for the first time in a very long time, the Doctor cried. But even as the tears fell, he started to forget why he was crying.
By the time the door opened, he was surprised to see who entered. For it was the woman who perplexed him endlessly. The one he was pretty sure that he was going to marry someday.
“Hello Sweetie,” River said with a smile, though he saw the sadness in her eyes, but, he knew better than to ask. Spoilers.
“River? What happened? Where am I? Where are the Ponds?”
“Amy and Rory are on a honeymoon adventure in Amsterduke. You decided to come here and waste some time, but bit off a little more than you could chew. Your captors almost killed you, but it’s okay, everything has been handled. Should we go find the TARDIS?” she asked pitching him his sonic.
“Of course,” he said, though he had this strange feeling that something was missing.
River grabbed his coat, which he gratefully accepted. Something was missing, where was his bow-tie? Oh well, he had plenty more in the TARDIS. Though he couldn’t help but feel a bit out of sorts. The two of them made their way back to the TARDIS and the Doctor made himself some tea to help his body rebalance itself. When he returned to the console room, he was surprised at River’s unusually quiet demeanor.
“So, aren’t you going to ask where we are this time? Pull out our diaries, do the whole nine yards?” the Doctor asked, trying to lighten the mood.
“Oh, of course,” she said smile brightening her face. River knew how to put on an act for him. She was practically the only person alive who knew what had actually happened that day. But she could never tell him, time didn’t work like that. If there was any chance of getting you back, the Doctor would have to remember you for himself.

Set In Stone - Choose Your Own Love Story Prologue (Tim Drake or Bart Allen x Reader)
Words: 2k
~ AH!!! Welcome to my newest multi chapter fic! Except there’s a twist! It’s up to you dear reader. I’ll be writing two different stories about each path, like a choose your own adventure, except you choose how your love story progresses to the eventual end! There will be a private masterlist specifically for this series where you can choose the way your personal love story unfolds. Just know that the future is never cemented, meaning you can always go back and try again! Think of this as the prologue to the actual event, but your first decision drops tomorrow, meet Bart or dig deeper into Tim? Hope you enjoy! ~
Seeing teenage heroes was really something else. They were your age, and they weren’t grumpy and old like the Justice League. “Okay well this is fun and all but I wanna hang with people my age!” you groaned following J'onn down the never ending corridors of the Watchtower. “You know your powers are not fit for the type of missions the Young Justice team attempt, you are arguably weaker than the regular human” he reminded you. That was rude. “Am not! I’m an asset! I can’t get hit cuz I know where they’re gonna swing so who cares if I have a mental breakdown every once and while!” J'onn knew you weren’t wrong, you taking a hit was a rare occurrence, but the Justice League refused to risk you even taking one hit, you’d protected thousands by scanning the infinite number of different possible futures.
“Everything you need is here” you replied “I knew you were gonna say that, like I literally knew it” you also knew you had to prod J'onn just for about two more minutes until you met Nightwing. “Oh my god Nightwing fancy seeing you here!” you grinned at J'onn who now understood your goal. “Hello, I didn’t know the YJ team had a new member?” Dick glanced at J'onn who shrugged. “Do not blame me Nightwing, Flash found her and the team agreed she stays with us” you rolled your eyes before starting with Dick Grayson, but he didn’t know you knew that yet.
“Hi! Y/N, no last name. Flash found me when he ran into the future and I was totally feeling the mode because I got these powers [ you tapped your head as Dick smirked ] and I can like see different parts of future when I’m super focussed, so like short time is kinda easy but far away and hard and I don’t remember anything from my past. I’m like a future only kinda girl.” you sighed, hoping you’d made sense. Dick’s eyes lit up. “So you don’t have a family, and they’re just keeping you here?” you nodded, crossing your arms to try to look more emotionally secure.
“Dibs” and something sparked in your head, this was a new future. It hurt. You sunk to the ground clutching your head as a new future bounced around your consciousness. Trying to shake out of it you realized you’d been carried to a med bay, Dick and J'onn stood above you looking concerned. Pushing them off you as you got up you explained “sometimes people make big decisions that change the future, I’m guessing you calling ‘dibs’ on me changed something, but I’m a little too tired to check if that’s okay, also what does dibs even mean?” and Dick smiled, “you’ll have to come find out!” and against J'onn’s protests he pulled you towards the Zeta Tubes.
Flash zipped in front of you and Dick. “No.” and Dick waved him off. “I’m taking her to the manor, get her to meet the family maybe I’ll get a sister if Bruce is in a mood” he waggled an eyebrow at Flash who was focussed now on you knowing he couldn’t get in Dick’s way. “I know you don’t know him yet but if Jason Todd asks you to do anything that seems dangerous say no. And watch out for Damian’s swords. I guess just look for Tim Drake, he’s a good one” and he patted you on the shoulder. “Go feel the mode kid” and you face palmed. “Flash you mean crash the mode oh god don’t even try to be cool” you groaned. “You totally have to meet Bart” Dick mumbled before he cleared you for zeta tube access.
You appeared in what can only be described as a man cave. There was a giant computer where a tiny boy sat covered in leather typing. There was a teenager looking about your age punching dummies while another boy was shooting literally guns at the dummies. “Welcome to the batcave!” Dick announced loud enough for the three boys heads to turn. The smallest boy stopped typing and stalked over to you. “A little young for you Grayson, stolen her from the baby justice team?” you knew this was Damian Wayne, and you couldn’t contain yourself.
“OH MY GOD BATMAN HI!” you screeched pulling him into your chest. “You’re totally crash like so cool but you’re so little right now! Last time I saw you, you were like super tall but you totally got moded or something - oh I wasn’t supposed to say that don’t worry!” Dick nudged you “this is Robin, Batman, Bruce Wayne, is in his office” and you slapped a hand over your mouth. “Right, no spoilers” and Damian stood still, processing his own future. “Moving on, Tim and Jason!” the two older boys had come down to get a closer look.
“Hood, Drake, this is totally cool!” you exclaimed, shaking their hands. “Why is he Red Hood and I’m Drake? Not Red Robin?” Tim looked puzzled. Best not ruin his life like that, this was one of the few things you planned on changing. “Because I know you’re Tim Drake! So does the world, Drake is a good LAST NAME right? Red Robin is totally crash for a hero name!” and Tim looked a little confused, but brushed it off. “What the demon said, she new?” and you shook your head, explaining your story again.
“20 bucks says adoption papers” “50 says she gets a room” “75 on a new animal persona” the boys started screaming bets as soon as they heard the “family trauma emotional instability” part. “Why can’t she be in Young Justice? Or the Outsiders? She’s still a teenager” Tim looked confused. “I dunno man, she’s been with the JL for a while because she’s apparently delicate which is bullshit” Dick explained and you strongly agreed. “None of you could even land a hit on me” you puffed out your chest. “Care to defend that claim?” Damian unsheathed a sword. “No! J'onn sai-” you cut Dick off. “Absolutely ”.
Now you were dodging and ducking Damian’s advances. You’d swung a couple punches but it means undoing some focus which allows Damian to get his own shots in, so you mostly stayed on defense, letting him get frustrated and tired. “I think you’ll get better with practice baby Batman” you teased him. Next was Jason, bullets were hard to avoid because you didn’t have lightning fast reflexes, although that would be nice. But Jason wasn’t as calculated as Damian so you could play a little dirtier. Knocking his guns out of his hands you let up, “this is boring I’m done” you raised from the ground where you and Jason had tumbled down on.
“So you really have powers. Your moves are all the most probable choice mathematically, you can’t be running the numbers in your head that quick!” Tim was toying with a tablet, shocked at your prediction abilities. “That’s right Boy Wonder, that was fun but I’m feeling kinda diz-” and then you realized you’d overworked yourself a little bit, and it all faded to black.
You woke up to fully aged Batman. “Oh god no I’m back. How am I back! Damian you were just a kid like ten minutes ago! How long have I been out?” you began to throw blankets off yourself, blankets? You were in a bed in someone’s room. “Calm down, Y/N, Y/N! It’s okay!” and the Older-Damian just enveloped you in a hug. You couldn’t remember the last hug you’d had. Literally couldn’t remember. And it was a welcomed comfort. Pulling away you got a closer look, and it wasn’t Damian Wayne, but Bruce.
“Bruce right? Current Batman?” you whispered, trying to wrap your mind around what had just happened. “That’s me, I see you’ve met my son, at multiple ages too” his eyes were smiling but his mouth wasn’t, it showed concern. “Yes, I did, I’m sorry for being a nuisance, it’s a pleasure to meet you but clearly I’m a bit moded so I should head back to the tower” you explain beginning to get up. “Actually that’s something I wanted to talk to you about, if you feel alright? [ you nodded, your powers were still a little too weak to peek ahead at what he was going to say ] Well, as you can see, I’ve got a couple of children, and you haven’t even met all of them. And I take them under my protection and I train them, and it seems to me you want training. Now you’re not ready for field work but you can start with me and my team, and maybe do a couple visits with the Young Justice team when Tim heads over. I think I can help you, and give you a family, would that be something you want?”
A family, you had one of those. And you knew the word brought you warmth, that had to be a good thing. “I think I’d like that a lot, but I’m kinda already with the Justice League ya know? Their personal magic 8 ball.” and Bruce shook his head. “They won’t be a problem for me, you’ll fit right in with my family” and you felt a smile spread over your face. “Then it’s a deal!” and you stuck out a hand, Bruce clasped it, pulling you in for another hug.
“We’ll talk later about what this means logistically, but there’s someone really excited you’re here.” and Tim Drake came bursting through the door, holding cookies. “Welcome to the team Y/N! You don’t know Alfred yet but he made these! I’m so glad you’re here!” he was beaming with excitement. And blushing? “Hi Tim, I’m glad to be here!” you chirped. Bruce mumbled something about paperwork and left the room as Tim continued. “This is totally cool, if you want I can call Bart I think he’d totally want to meet you! Or, you and I could hangout just the two of us!” there was that blush again. “Yeah! Can I just sit and think for a minute before I catch up with you?” this was a decision you wanted to read into, it felt important.
Tim left, and you sat back into the plush bed, diving into the future. And it was something you hadn’t seen you. There were two futures, still fuzzy from the infinite decisions to be made securing the future, but it was clear enough to see that it was your wedding day. Down one path you saw a beautiful wedding with someone you haven’t met yet, and you looked beyond happy. You heard yourself whisper “if only Tim were here to see this” wiping a tear away in the arms of your lover. Recoiling back you knew this future wouldn’t do, not at Tim’s expense. So you went towards the other. Same set up, but this time it was Tim that you were marrying, but the same tear slid down your cheek “if only Bart could be here” you recognized the name. Bart, the guy you’re supposed to be meeting.
And you were stuck in the middle no matter what. Like yin and yang you couldn’t find a future where you didn’t end up in the arms of one at the other’s grave. Or worse, in the futures where you tried to pick them over yourself both lost their lives saving you. So how you do pick? Who gets to be your future and who has to perish to secure it?
“Y/N you ready yet?” Tim called from down stairs. It was years out, but you knew every decision you made from now on was one step closer to the loss of a hero. And there was nothing you could do about it.
First Decision:

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 overall thoughts (scroll if you don’t want spoilers !)
I’ve watched season 2 twice and here’s what I’ve noticed. feel free to agree/ disagree, let’s have a discussion! :)
- Luther’s character development was amazing this season. although he was mainly depressed and stress eating, he did grow as a character SO much by immediately apologizing to Vanya. he could have easily got away with not telling her the full extent of what happened/ what he did due to her memory loss (and Five also not directly telling her she was the cause, or “bomb”). he’s still struggling with who he is and how he lost his motivation and leadership-ness towards the end of season one. not seeing any of his siblings, especially Allison made Luther feel alone again, like when he was sent to the moon. Luther has SO much more of a idea between when he can lead and when it’s okay for him to follow (example: him telling Klaus to look for Allison while he watches over Five who was obviously upset due to the situation). he was very smart with the whole old/young Five situation, even if he got his ass beat in the process. overall Luther is a great character and deserves so much more of a love interest than his sister.
- Diego. as far as we know Diego and Vanya actually got parts of Klaus’ powers this season. originally in the comics Klaus can levitate and has telekinesis. Diego’s was able to manipulate the bullets in the finale with telekinesis that wasn’t brought up earlier. it made sense and for the character since he already know how to manipulate knives and other things to his favor. another Diego power that wasn’t described that i was quite disappointed about is the fact that he can hold his breath underwater for long periods of time. although Diego’s love interest this season is Lila, i have a feeling he is more infatuated with her than in love. it’s known that Diego loved Patch, and was torn and wished to remember and honor her memory, so there a chance he fell for Lila or his idea of her, mixed with some of the personality traits of Patch. Diego went from basically resenting Vanya and always going toe to toe with Luther to forgiving her and actually working as a pair with Luther, while Luther let Diego have his leader or “Number One” moments this season.
- Allison. wow. we had a minor complaint of her not dating her brother and boy did they take that and run with it. she went from an adored black actress with a white husband and mixed daughter to a time where black and whites couldn’t even enjoy a cup of coffee in the same diner. now i’m not sure if this was intentional but i noticed upon allison’s arrival, 3 white boys are taunting her saying “hey girl”. although i’m not sure, i was wondering if this line/scene is a reference to the Emmett Till case (he died in 1955 so less than a decade then where this harassment takes place). it could be possible since Emmett did get murdered for saying “hey baby” to a white women and i think it’s a good yet subtle part on the show runners half if this was their intention. Allison’s want of showing she loves Vanya showed tremendously throughout this season, she’s basically glowing around Vanya, especially in the scene where she was hanging out with Klaus and Vanya.
- Klaus. Klaus went through so much this season (as it seems like he always does) Klaus’ adventure of seeing Dave and telling him not to enlist is a case of “right intention, wrong time”. he came off too strongly and scared off Dave. eventually Dave wanted to know why Klaus knew so much about him so he visted Klaus at his weird cult house. i will say he obviously did have some influence over Dave since he got dave to enlist in the marines instead of the army. Klaus having a cult makes sense for his character. the lack of “daddy’s love” and attention he got in season one was filled by his cult, even if he was a fraud and only superficial worshipping. he started to push Ben away this season, and ultimately you could argue it helped tainting/ damaging his relationship with Ben a tad bit, but at the same time Klaus secretly wanted Ben to get a break from him and go to heaven, even if that meant loosing his brother from being with him 24/7. i wish he had more of reaction when Vanya tells him about Ben. it could just be usual Klaus, hiding his feelings to not feel like a burden to anyone. with Robert’s acting abilities, as much as i don’t want to see klaus in pain, a meltdown scene of Klaus missing Ben would be startling at how well it can be done.
- Five. Five was an old man before he came back to the Academy in season one and it’s discussed that he messed up the calculations that put them in his kid body. it could be a possibility that when he was going back in time with his siblings he saw his siblings were turning into kids, panicked, and thought of a different equation in his head to make them adults. we have to remember as viewers that since he’s gotten back to the season one timeline he knows what it feels like to be not taken seriously due to his physical age and how he looks. so he wanted his siblings to be adults again? maybe it could also be because he couldn’t emotionally handle seeing the versions of his siblings from over 60+ years ago (in his mind) in front of him again. it could just be a simple miscalculation since math clearly isn’t Five’s strong suit since he’s 0/3, or could have a deeper meaning. you can argue both ways. i will say he developed more into trusting his siblings, even asking for their help on multiple occasions. you can tell he got more comfortable with the family he’s been missing and wishing to go back to for decades.
- Ben. Benerio. i just wanted to start off that it makes sense he wasn’t alive this season. although disappointed, when they were going back in time, none of the kids (Ben included) were born in the 60’s, so it can be argued that even if he was revived, he has no place in this timeline. you can argue none of the kids have a place there, but Five was focused on getting those around him (the alive academy) out of this timeline. Ben not being alive makes the most sense since he has passed before Five travelled. you can tell dallas made a huge tear between Ben and Klaus. i think that dallas was good for Be , even if he wasn’t alive, he got to grow as a person, even if that meant Klaus sort of forgot him and went on his own journey. i cried hysterically in the last two episodes about Ben because he’s such a genuinely caring character. i would compare his qualities to younger Vanya because when Luther locks Vanya up, Diego and Klaus say “Vanya? the one who cried when we stepped on ants as a kid?” also applies to Ben. it made me so happy when he stayed back and goes “i missed you guys” while they exposing each other for what they have done in this timeline to possibly mess it up
- Vanya went through a lot this season. i’m glad they changed the season one ending of Fove shooting her in the end and starting of the dallas storyline her being paralyzed and having amnesia. this season shows that vanya isn’t scared of her siblings anymore. for example, she got startled when Allison tried to rumor her again and accidentally hurt her, followed by apologizing profusely. this season she is unapologetically herself, saying she isn’t a disease and even leans her head on Diego in the last episode even though in last season they definitely were on rocky terms. Vanya frantically wanting to leave with Sissu and Harlan to give them a better and more accepting life in 2019 just proves how much she cares for others. the ending scene where Ben, the literal monster with tentacles basically falling out of him, telling Vanya isn’t a monster is so beautifully done. it’s also interesting how she is in way more control of her powers, even after Reginald made it seem basically impossible for her to control her emotions/ powers.

For Beetlelands Week 2020
Title: Write Like the Wind
Fandom: Beetlejuice (Musical)
Rating: T
Ships: Beetlejuice/Adam/Barbara
Prompt: One Bed
Summary: Adam wants to do something for nerd-kind now that he has ghostly powers. Beetlejuice and Barbara help out. Spoilers for The Winds of Winter.
When Beetlejuice returned from the Netherworld, he came back powerful. Barbara wasn’t exactly sure how—the story changed with each telling.
But he returned with enough power to teleport her and Adam pretty much anywhere he could visualize. Thanks to Google Street View, he could visualize quite a few things.
Being able to teleport was very helpful when Adam had a specific request.
The ghosts and demon appeared inside a very fancy home, with sunlight streaming in the windows. Beetlejuice was hovering between Barbara and Adam, holding their hands. Barbara suspected this wasn’t strictly part of his teleportation ability, but it was a nice excuse to hold hands.
The demon shimmered in and out briefly, wincing.
“Everything okay?” Barbara asked.
“Teleporting all the way to New Mexico is a lot. We’re definitely gonna need to stop by a bolt-hole on the way back.” According to Beetlejuice, undead travellers could recharge in places with a lot of “death energy”—graveyards, usually, or famous battlefields.
The clicking of a keyboard drew the three of them to an office where a large, grey-haired man sat in front of his computer.
Adam sucked in a breath. “There he is,” he whispered.
Beetlejuice rolled his eyes. “Sexy, you’re dead. He can’t hear you.” Sure enough, the writer hadn’t turned around at the sound of Beetlejuice’s voice.
“Oh.” Adam looked a bit disappointed. “I guess I just assumed that he’d be attuned to the supernatural. He’s a master of the sci-fi/fantasy genre! Anyway, let’s go see what he’s working on.” He crossed his fingers as the three of them huddled around the author’s computer screen.
Barbara felt a bit awkward reading over someone’s shoulder, and looked politely aside. She’d never gotten into sci-fi and fantasy the way Adam had; he’d know better than she would what they were looking at.
Her husband’s face fell. “Wild Cards?!” he spluttered. “Wild freaking Cards! I know he only edits the anthologies, but they’re a distraction!” He ran his hands through his hair. “Just write the books, George!”
“I can take over his computer and threaten to start deleting files until the books are done!” Beetlejuice crowed. “Make it seem like he’s got a computer virus!”
Adam’s gaze flicked between Beetlejuice and the author’s computer a few times.
Barbara cleared her throat.
“No, of course not,” Adam said quickly. “Thanks for saving me from myself, sweetie.” He kissed her cheek. He focused on the author, holding out his hand. “Sorry about this.”
The author stopped what he was doing. He saved then exited out of the document. Adam searched through the computer files for a moment then made the author open up a document titled The Winds of Winter.
The document opened after a few moments. ‘Want to pick up where you left off?’ Word asked helpfully, and the author clicked on it. There were a bunch of unfamiliar words and names on the page that showed up.
No sense in me reading this. Barbara decided to look around a famous author’s office. She’d expected him to have a bunch of memorabilia from the TV show, but the furnishings were really quite ordinary. Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of bookshelves filled with books.
There was silence from the author, whose fingers were poised over the keyboard.
“C’mon, Sexy, get writing.” Beetlejuice hovered in mid-air, bobbing slightly. He was also eyeing the author’s office, but he was probably wondering where to put spiders.
“Er, there’s no way I can give him partial control, can I? I can’t write the next book!”
“Not how it works, newb.”
Adam sighed. “Okay. Um, my thoughts definitely won’t be his, but maybe I can make a start. Barbara, you took that course in creative writing in college, right? Do you have any tips?” Adam was an amazing man with many good qualities, but pure creativity wasn’t one of them.
“I can try, but I wasn’t writing award-winning fantasy novels back in college.” Barbara dredged up some memories of the TV show. “Maybe you should make the White Walkers show up! You know, inject some tension.”
“It’s an Arianne Martel chapter.”
Barbara had no idea what that meant. “Um…have a dragon show up?”
“I appreciate the thought, but Arianne is going to treat with Young Griff, and the entire point is that he’s a supposed Targaryen that doesn’t have dragons.”
Beetlejuice spoke up. “Have some brothers and sisters bone. Shove a little smut in there.”
“Not only does that not work in this chapter, I’m also not comfortable with that.”
“Or skip to a Dany chapter,” Barbara suggested. “I just want good things for her. How’s she doing, anyway?”
“Not well.” Adam made the author pull up a Dany chapter. He watched the blinking cursor for a few moments, frowning in thought.
Beetlejuice added, “You could write a bunch of dialogue in what’s basically a white room and see where it takes you. That’s an A-plus writing strategy, right there.”
Adam sighed, rubbing his forehead. After a few more moments of intense concentration, he looked away from the computer screen.
The author shook his head, blinking a few times.
“Maybe just having the document open will prompt him to write?” Adam asked hopefully.
The author closed out of The Winds of Winter and went back to a document called Wild Cards_edits.
Adam’s shoulders slumped.
Beetlejuice hovered closer. “Just casually mentioning that we can take out the phone, snap some pics of these new chapters, and threaten to leak them if he doesn’t write the books.”
“Photos of chapters over his shoulder?” Barbara said. “That’s pretty terrifying.”
The demon chuckled darkly.
“Ah. And that was exactly the point.” Beetlejuice might have changed a lot since his return from the Netherworld, but his love of fear and chaos that wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“No, Beetlejuice,” Adam said. “It wouldn’t work anyway. What kind of writing would you get if someone was bullied into it?”
“Bleh, you’re no fun. Where to next, Sexy? That Rothfuss guy?”
“Let’s just go home.”
“Have to make a quick stop first, but okay.” Beetlejuice grabbed their hands and teleported them away.
They landed in someplace pitch black. Beetlejuice lit a match of neon green fire, revealing a small underground crypt barely large enough for the three of them. Every surface was draped with dust and cobwebs. A half-open coffin showed patchy, stained velvet. If there was a door to this crypt, the match didn’t reveal it.
Beetlejuice tilted his head. “Ahhh, that’s better.” He frowned slightly, as if listening to something. Barbara couldn’t hear anything. “Yep, think it’s still sandworm free! Lemme just recharge for a while.”
“You’ve been here before?” she asked.
“Nah, but I saw drawings from some ghost hunters back in the Netherworld. Ghost hunters can go topside to bring ghosts back, and they need places to rest, too.”
“So, ghost hunters are ghosts who hunt other ghosts?”
“Yeah, and they’re the worst. The Bureau of the Dead won’t let anyone go topside unless they’re a boot-licker. But it was good to know a few of their tricks when I got banished up here.”
Barbara glanced at Adam, who normally would’ve loved Netherworld lore. It wasn’t every day that Beetlejuice opened up about a place that was, in his words, “total Meh-ville.” But Adam wasn’t even listening. The gloomy atmosphere of the crypt fit his gloomy expression perfectly.
“Hey,” Barbara said softly. When Adam turned her way, she squeezed his hand. “I’m sorry it didn’t work out the way you wanted it to.”
“I guess art just has to happen at its own pace. You can’t force it. I just feel bad for all the other dead readers who’ll never get to read the end of the series. All they’ll have is the TV show’s ending.” He snorted in disgust.
“Maybe you planted a seed. Who knows? Inspiration is a funny thing.”
“And there’s always fanfic,” Beetlejuice added.
“It’s not the same,” Adam said with a sigh.
“Heh, speaking of fanfic….” Beetlejuice hopped into the coffin. “Oh noooo. There’s only one bed!”
Barbara and Adam stared at him. She had no idea what he was talking about.
Beetlejuice huffed. “Oh, come on. None of you ever read a romance fic? Hell, a romance novel?”
“No,” Adam said.
“Not really my thing,” Barbara added. She was a fan of biographies and autobiographies of famous people, personally. “And, also? Not a bed. It’s a coffin. And sleeping in a coffin is also not my thing.”
“Jesus, so picky.” Beetlejuice snapped his fingers, and the coffin became their bed at home. “Get over here.” He hesitated then said, “Please.” Barbara and Adam had had conversations with him about asking instead of demanding; happily, it looked like those conversations were sticking.
Beetlejuice had just done them a huge favour, and a little cuddling might cheer Adam up. Barbara went to join Beetlejuice, shooting a questioning glance at Adam. He followed them, though he was still brooding.
She and Beetlejuice let Adam slide between them as the three sorted themselves out. (Sometimes, Beetlejuice would throw in extra limbs or a few clones just for the added challenge.) After some scooching and wriggling, Barbara’s cheek rested on Adam’s shoulder as she stroked his chest gently and held his left hand. Beetlejuice had one arm over the two of them and was, for some reason, nibbling on Adam’s hair, which sometimes became kissing the top of his head. After a while, you got used to a certain amount of weirdness.
Gradually, Adam began to relax. First, the tension left his shoulders. Then, he cracked his neck and his jaw untightened. (He’d needed to wear a mouthguard when he slept when he was alive. He was always grinding his teeth.)
“Maybe…” he murmured. “Maybe I could write the ending to the books. It’ll be fanfic, but it’ll be something, at least. I can work on that project while the Deetzes are asleep. I’ve never written fic before, but I could try. It’s not like I need to eat or sleep. And I’ve been looking for a new project ever since I finished the model.” His model of the town had a place of pride in the attic, which the Maitlands had cleaned out and repurposed into an arts and crafts room. They still kept up with their hobbies, but they had fewer now that they were busy rehabilitating Beetlejuice and parenting Lydia.
“I’m sure it’ll be great, hon.” Barbara kissed his cheek. “I’ll help however I can.”
“And I can tell you all about what fic tropes you can put in!” Beetlejuice said. “Or what fic tropes we can do ourselves.” He must’ve been thinking about some sexual ones, for he chortled and squeezed Adam’s butt. “Gotta keep the rating PG-13 for Beetlelands Week, but…you know which ones.” He winked at no one in particular, it seemed. Sometimes, he pretended he had an audience; Barbara and Adam just ignored it.
Beetlejuice moved to nuzzling Adam’s throat. After a few moments, he began patting Barbara’s hair.
Barbara giggled. “Aren’t you supposed to be recharging?”
“It’s called multitasking, baby.” Idly, he commented, “Shit, fluff is hard to end. How do you even end something that by its nature has low stakes and minimal conflict?”
What was he talking about? Barbara shrugged.
Adam thoughtfully said, “Maybe with a kiss?”
“Hah!” Barbara couldn’t help but grin when Beetlejuice laughed like that. This wasn’t an evil cackle or a dark chuckle, but an open, cheerful sound that she’d been hearing more and more since they’d started dating. “Perfect! You’re so ready to be a fic writer, Sexy!”
Beetlejuice kissed Adam on the lips, and the cuddling in a false bed in an underground crypt continued.
Not for the first time, Barbara reflected, My afterlife is so weird.
But it did have its perks.

Crushing The Grape (Avengers X Male!Reader)
Characters: Avengers X Male!Reader
Universe: Marvel, Avengers
Warnings: Spoilers to Infinity War. Death. Reader basically tortured Thanos. Think Magneto with blood.
Request: Could you do avengers x male reader where male reader kills that giant purple grape(thanos) on Titan
The plan was set out after much bickering between the groups, and everyone was in their places, waiting for what was to come- you included.
You had wound up in this situation through Peter Parker, your classmate and teammate when it came to being superheroes. While Peter was quick and quite elegant, you were the brute force and defence. You had the ability to manipulate natural land elements, including rock, sand, and even metals, which you learnt when someone had tried to shoot Peter and you’d panicked and managed to deflect it. You didn’t know Tony very well, though he knew of you because of Peter telling him about his new friend who was ‘a real life earth bender’.
The fact that you are currently on a planet that seemed to be only made of rock was a good sign that you were of use in this situation, but you were absolutely terrified, having heard about Thanos and seeing what one minion of his was capable of already. When you knew what he wanted to do, you felt the pressure weigh itself on you- if you messed up, it could literally kill half of everything and ruin everyone’s lives. What scared you more, but also made your more determined was when the wizard guy admitted the chances of winning were literally slim to none. You had to stop him. Now.
Soon the Titan appeared, and the group swooped in to attack, you also playing a part in wrapping the ground around his feet to stop him kicking or moving too much. Everything seemed to have been going well until the guy… starlad? No, Starlord, found out that the purple prick killed his own daughter, who was also Starlord’s girlfriend, and he slipped, desperate for revenge which made everyone lose control of the situation.
You panicked, and like the last time you panicked, you discovered you could do something more.
You had tried to just encase him more in rock to slow him down, and have a boulder behind him come flying at him to knock him down… but the boulder didn’t move, but Thanos was clearly in pain, yelling out. You didn’t know what you were doing but it was clearly working and you just focused on continuing to do it, pulling towards you.
It took a second for the red specs to be noticeable compared to the dark orange landscape, and when you saw them coming from Thanos’ pores, you realised what you were doing. Still, you didn’t stop, instead looking at the group. Peter’s eyes were wide, and the others could tell you had startled yourself.
“Y/N, keep going.” Tony finally spoke up. “If you don’t then he’ll win.”
With the confirmation to continue, you focused back on the purple titan in front of you, who was falling to his knees in pain, and growing pale very quickly, and with one last intense amount of power, the specs turned into blobs of floating blood and soon, it was clear that Thanos was dead, his body almost seeming mummified by the loss of blood, and you lowered your hand, the floating bubbles splashing onto the dry land.
You stood there for a moment, looking at the body in front of you. “If he was able to do that why didn’t he do that in the first place?” One of the aliens asked- the blue one, what was his name? Who cared right now, you just killed Thanos.
“H-He didn’t know he could do that.” Peter spoke up, coming forward and putting a hand on your shoulder “Y/N? You okay? You did the right thing.” Peter comforted you.
“H-how? How did I do that?” You asked him.
“Well…” Tony spoke up. “We know you’re able to manipulate metals, like bullets, and there’s iron in the blood, which means-”
“I can bend blood.” You finished. You took a moment to accept this rather scary fact about yourself before taking a deep breath in. “What now? Do we go home? What about Thanos’ army?”
“They’ll probably be trying to gather the stones still- if we put them altogether safe and protect them from his army, we’ll be able to win. We’ve already won. We just have to finish off the loose ends.” Dr Strange informed everyone before he opened a portal for everyone to walk through, back to Earth. You had a feeling that both Peter and Tony will refuse to drop the fact that you killed Thanos rather easily.
Hope you like it! If you have any questions, please send them in!

Don’t Blame it on the Kids
Drabble #1
Story here
Summery: Shouta learns what the hell is happening after Izuku finally wakes up. Drabble.
Characters: Shouta Aizawa (Eraserhead), Izuku Midoriya, Enji Todoroki (Endeavor), All Might, Shoot Todoroki, Katski Bakugou, Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic)
MANGA SPOILERS: ch. 303 (well past season 4 of the anime)
TW: mention/referenced abuse, mention/reference character death, canon-typical violence, PTSD, amputation, hospitals, panic/anxiety
Aizawa is in pain from a foot he doesn’t even have anymore, his face throbs against the bandages and he’s tired as all hell even after all the sleep he’s gotten but the kid is finally awake and All Might asked him personally to come. So he was going.
He owed his life to Midoriya. It was a proud fact he hated, because he didn’t need to owe his life to these students. He needed to protect them and yet Midoriya, Bakugou and Todoroki had been too valuable in the fight. His heart was full of pride as his stress spiked. They deserved to be students, not heroes. Not yet.
Mic opens the door for him, helping him through the threshold of the hospital suit. Midoriya was awake, his head bandaged and his limbs completely wrapped. He looked like a mini version of Aizawa after the USJ. It wasn’t a funny thought.
All Might is helping Midoriya with some water, gently holding the back of the boy’s head to help him sit up as the boy takes a long drink from a straw. The tenderness from the old, frail retired hero was at least relaxing. At least there was someone there for the boy. Aizawa didn’t know the whereabouts of his mother. He hadn’t been hearing much in terms of news.
The worst case scenario is losing my teacher!
“Aizawa,” All Might says, a nod in acknowledgement. Aizawa tries to return one as Mic helps him into a chair on the edge of the room.
“So I hear there’s going to be a party,” Mic says, his voice significantly softer than it normally is. He’s pointing finger guns at Midoriya who, for as tired as he looks, smiles.
“And you’re not invited,” a gruff, hoarse voice says from the door. Endeavor pushes into the room like a bulldog. He’s breathing heavy and is bandaged as the rest of them but he’s standing on his own.
“Every party needs a DJ,” Mic tries but the glare from Endeavor and the sad look on All Might’s face say it all. He needs to leave. Aizawa levels Mic with a I’ll let you know later stare and the DJ hero sighs. “Alright, alright. I know when I’m not wanted. Take care of Shouta for me.”
He leaves the room with a whistle and a wave and the silence that sets in is heavy. Endeavor closes the door.
“Now,” Endeavor says. He looks exhausted but, from what Aizawa has seen and heard from the news, he looks more like a hero than he has in a while. “Why was he after you?” He points a leveled stare at young Midoriya so heavy, Aizawa sees the kid sink into his bed. “What’s One For All?”
So this was what the meeting was going to be about. The battle, still playing on the back of Aizawa’s eyelids every time he closes them, is strange to say the least. He can’t get the images out of his head. He wonders if he’ll always be able to recall the entire event until his knock-out in vivid detail for the rest of his life.
That includes Midoriya. He’s seen the black tendrils from the kid in training. They don’t make sense, but he’s seen them before. What doesn’t make sense is flying. He remembers floating. He remembers seeing Deku fight, in midair, with the black tentacles and his superstrength. He wasn’t conscious the whole time. He couldn’t reactivate his quirk. But he remembers it.
It doesn’t make sense. None of it. Not Midoriya’s multiple powers, not how Shigiraki knew about them, not how Midoriya knew Shigiaraki knew about them and was aiming for him.
The boy looks so small in the hospital bed, his expression nervous and meek, nothing at all like the rage Aizawa saw on the battlefield.
“I-it’s-” Midoriya tries to speak but All Might stands.
“It’s the name of my quirk,” he says. Midoriya looks up at All Might, with a trust Aizawa hasn’t seen the boy express to anyone else. “It’s a transferable quirk that can be passed from one holder to the next, compiling the quirks of its users.”
A quirk that can be passed down-
Aizawa watches Midoriya and the boy isn’t surprised. He’s not anything but relieved.
The room falls into silence again, as Endeavor regards the retired hero and then turns to the boy on the bed.
“You have All Might’s quirk.”
The boy doesn’t look at anyone, just at his bed sheets and nods. Aizawa hears Endeavor curse.
“Of course that’s what it would be…” Endeavor says to himself, as if coming to realize that for all his fighting, he was never going to match a quirk that encompassed multiple quirks.
And really, it made sense, didn’t it? All Might’s quirk was never revealed, no one had ever really gotten a straight answer from him. How did All Might stay the number one hero, someone that literally changed the way heroes and crime operated, on a single quirk alone?
After learning about All For One, and the ability to steal quirks… really, they should’ve expected this. If someone could steal a quirk, if someone could manufacture monsters out of dead bodies and force quirks on them, why wouldn’t there be another user out there like that?
All Might is talking again, explaining All For One and the connection between Midoriya, the current holder of All Might’s quirk, and the century-old villain.
And Aizawa feels something break. It’s not like snapping a bone in half, but Aizawa can’t find another way to describe it. It’s a white-hot pain in the pit of his stomach. He could scream.
This kid, this fifteen-year-old, is being hunted by the world’s most powerful and dangerous villain.
Aizawa doesn’t hear anything but static for a few moments. When he finally fights his way back to the present, thankful for the throbbing in his head to help him, he doesn’t know how much of the story he’s missed. He’s watching Midoriya who, for the life of this kid, doesn’t look scared.
No. Midoriya is answering questions, explaining something - one of his powers, Aizawa realizes by the expression on the kid’s face - and he looks completely resigned to this knowledge. A smile tugs on the edge of his lip as he tries to explain blackwhip to Endeavor, the same way it does when he’s explaining something to a classmate. He can’t move his limbs, but his head bobbles back and forth, as if the need to express his words is so ingrained, his body will move anything it can.
All Might’s hand hasn’t left Midoriya’s bandaged one, but he’s returned to sitting. He lets the boy talk, and there’s a sadness there that weighs on his shoulders. Even as he brings a tissue to his mouth to cough, he takes an extra moment with his eyes closed, as if begging for forgiveness.
Aizawa sees all this, because he’s been trained to. He’s been trained to look. He’s been looking at Midoriya all year and yet this is the first time he’s seen the boy.
“How long?”
Everyone turns to look at Aizawa. It’s the first time he’s spoken and even to him, his voice is too rough. He stares at Midoriya, hoping he finally gets the truth from his student.
“How long have you had this quirk?”
“Oh, uh,” Midoriya’s eyes dart to the bed, then to All Might - again asking for permission - then to Endeavor - but not his face - and finally back to Aizawa’s gaze. “About a year?”
“When?”
The boy ducks his head again, like he’s ashamed. All Might pats his hand in comfort.
“The entrance exam.”
This kid.
“The day of?”
Midoriya nods. “About two hours before?” It’s a question, a deflection, like he’s scared it’s the wrong answer even though it’s the truth. All Might’s face confirms it.
“I had to train him before he could take it,” All Might explains, more to Endeavor than Aizawa. He has a feeling All Might will be avoiding him until they’re alone. Maybe even after that.
“Naturally,” Endeavor says, but it’s laced with malice. “How long was the boy’s training.”
“Ten months,” Midoriya says and Aizawa tries not to think about how he’s not nervous to answer the current Number One hero like he is his own home room teacher. He can deal with that later. It’s not the kid’s fault if he doesn’t trust Aizawa. It’s something Aizawa did, something he’ll have to correct.
“Pathetic,” Endeavor says and while Midoriya flinches, All Might doesn’t falter. “You should’ve come to me sooner, boy.”
“We couldn’t risk it getting out,” All Might says. “It’s too dangerous for the public to know. But after the battle-”
“You couldn’t keep it from me any longer,” Endeavor finishes. There’s an edge to his tone. The assertion of why All Might was keeping Endeavor from the secret this whole time. All Might didn’t trust him, even after becoming the number one hero. All Might didn’t trust him, even now. Not enough to willingly give up the information.
“There’s going to be a hard battle ahead,” All Might says. “With All for One free, I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse.”
Aizawa agrees with that and he hates how useless he feels about it.
Endeavor checks the clock on the wall for the time and turns.
“I have to meet with my son,” he says, “but this isn’t over, All Might.” It’s a threat made less hostile by the way the hero’s body bends and struggles to push open the door.
He’s sure Mic will come zipping in but when he doesn’t, Aizawa watches Midoriya and All Might exchange some silent exchange.
“Why tell me?” he asks, despite himself.
Midoriya whips his head to him so suddenly it hurts Aizawa to see.
“What? What do you mean?”
“I was taken out before the big show,” Aizawa says. At least, that’s what he was told. And while he remembers flying, he doesn’t have anything to prove Midoriya wasn’t just using the quirk he developed in class. “I already knew about blackwhip. You said it was the same quirk. So why tell me now?”
Midoriya looks… hurt. He sinks into himself, the way Aizawa has seen him do when confronted in class and he hates that he makes the kid react that way.
“Because you’re my teacher,” he says to the bed. “I knew we’d have to tell Endeavor because he was there and he would demand answers but that wasn’t…”
“What?”
He looks up, eyes wet.
“You deserved to know more than he did.”
Shouta doesn’t know how to react to that. This is the kid that literally jumped in front of a psychotic manic for the sake of his teacher. But also the kid that never once thought to tell him before this about his quirk.
Aizawa understands it, he does. He knows why All Might kept it secret. He knows why All Might didn’t tell Aizawa, they were basically strangers until this year. He knows why Midoriya kept it secret too.
Shouta gets it.
It doesn’t help.
He’s failed the kid. In so many ways, he goes dizzy trying to list them all.
Aizawa pushes himself out of the chair up to his good leg with the help of his crutch. All Might is starting towards him, trying to help, but Aizawa ignores him as he approaches the bed.
Midoriya watches him, his face becoming more and more upset. No doubt Shouta looks bad and he’s sorry the kid has to see him this way. But he reaches out anyway, placing his hand on the boy’s head. His fingers rest between green curls. They’re tangled and still dirty. He looks down at the boy.
“Thanks, kid,” he says with as much expression he can muster with half his face bandaged. He knows he’s emotionally constipated, as Mic puts it, but he owes the kid.
Midoriya is full on crying now but he breaks into a smile that would put All Might to shame.

The Hidden Potential of Villain Magnet!Izuku
Alright, so I’m sure that, by now, a lot of people have heard the whole ‘Izuku must have a Quirk that attracts villains’ joke, right? (Actually, I’m not sure how popular that joke/semi-theory is…) If you haven’t, it’s a pretty straightforward idea: With how often Izuku gets attacked by villains, some of his peers/teachers joke that he has a Quirk that pulls villains to him. Most of the time it’s just that- a joke.
But what if it wasn’t.
His mother’s Quirk is attraction, and she has the ability to pull small objects to her. I could see this Quirk mutating, until- in a bizarre way that can only be explained by this whole world being fictional- Izuku is left with a Quirk that pulls small-time threats to him. People who can bring harm, but aren’t the big bosses of the underworld like a certain megalomaniac who comes into play later.
Let’s assume, too, that Izuku can not control it. Perhaps it is just a constant aura, pulling on thieves and schoolyard bullies alike, or perhaps he lost his control because he was so determined to keep others safe. (Which very well could have happened. After all, we saw how Izuku stood up for the other kids back when he was young, turning the bullies’ attention onto himself instead of others. It may have been almost instinctual.)
So Izuku has a Quirk that, in the simplest terms, is constantly attracting bad people to him. Izuku does not realize that this is happening. He assumes that the bullying only became so bad because 1. He is Quirkless and 2. He constantly got in the way of fights, so it only makes sense that the bullies have all focused on him by this point. He is simply Quirkless, and doesn’t really think past that.
As for the minor villains, well, Izuku has gotten surprisingly lucky. Heroes are plentiful, and any villains that got pulled into range would get sidetracked when a hero confronted them.
But, yeah. Izuku Midoriya goes through the first four years of his life waiting for a Quirk, unknowingly gets one but spends the next decade being belittled for his Quirklessness (with his own Quirk only making the pain worse), and then meets All Might and finds out he can be a hero with One for All.
[Little does anybody know, One for All boosted Izuku’s original Quirk...now, instead of getting the attraction of little threats, he’s also going to have more dangerous villains after him.]
And everything goes on as normal. Izuku smashes through the Entrance Exam (or, well, just the zero pointer but y’know…), USJ sucks, the Sports Festival means more broken bones, Exams are wack, and his summer is one he’ll never forget! Shoot, throw in the Provisional License Exams and School Festival as a treat!
Sometime after this, the moment of realization happens, because I said so.
It’s just a normal day. And as such, that means there’s a group of villains to deal with.
It’s chaos. Aizawa had taken a few of his students grocery shopping, because at this point he can’t trust them to go half a block without getting attacked, and suddenly they’re ambushed by like half a dozen or so bad guys.
And, at some point, Aizawa ends up using Erasure on Izuku.
It’s like the fight freezes mid-battle. Almost like someone paused a movie mid-scene, except...except only the villains hesitate.
And then, for some reason, they just...start to walk away.
Aizawa blinks. The villains resume fighting. Aizawa uses his Quirk again, but holds his
gaze on Izuku the entire time. Lo and behold, the villains realize that they’re fighting multiple heroes-in-training, and promptly book it to safety.
Aizawa, in typical Aizawa fashion, simply sighs and herds his students back to the dorms, keeping a close eye on the Problem Child.
A short time skip and some tests that may be a bit unethical (throwing Izuku into a city and seeing how long it takes villains to come to him, just for Aizawa to use his Quirk might be a teensy bit unethical, don’t you think?) later, and the truth of Izuku’s Quirk comes to light.
Aizawa marches the boy to the nearest registration station, and declares Izuku’s Quirk’s new name. The form reads a little like this:
Izuku Midoriya
Quirk: Problem Child
Description: He has exponentially high strength, and can enhance his speed and power drastically, to the point of breaking his own bones.
-He has also gained a heightened pain tolerance, though it is unclear whether this is a part of his Quirk or due to his past.
Secondary aspect of Quirk: Attracts villains to his area. Seems to have spiked in strength in the past year.
Izuku couldn’t really fight the new Quirk name.
Sadly, Izuku also could not fight the new guilt that would well up in him when he realizes that every major villain attack this year was likely his fault.
And he means every.
Because while Katsuki is blaming himself for All Might’s defeat, Izuku knows better now.
His Quirk, his hidden Quirk that he'd never known of, was the reason his teacher was broken and scarred and had his Quirk damaged. His Quirk was the reason his peers got attacked, the reason his classmates were exposed to real villains and risks far too early. His Quirk was the reason his friend-bully-rival-classmate got kidnapped. His Quirk was the reason his mentor's career and future was cut short. His Quirk was the reason a Pro Hero lost his life, and a future Pro Hero lost his Quirk before he could even graduate.
Izuku blames himself for each and every one of these consequences. And the worst part? Nobody knows which of these fights would never have occurred if he simply had not been there.
And it gets worse. (And if you only watch the anime, I suggest not reading further because I'm getting into spoiler territory.)
It gets so much worse for poor Izuku.
Because the Joint Training Exercise happens. And it goes about as well as it does in canon.
Izuku gets Black Whip, and a whole new revelation.
One for All stockpiles not only the predecessors' raw power, but also their Quirks.
It's heart-wrenching, almost bittersweet. It's the first time that Izuku finally accepts that One for All is his Quirk now, because he has made it so awful that he can no longer consider giving it away.
And I don't just mean Izuku passing it off to Mirio, or some other 'more deserving' peer. No, Izuku realizes that he has tainted this Quirk, has put an even larger target onto its back than it originally had due to All for One...and Izuku decides that he will never pass One for All on. It will die with him.
Because Izuku can't bear the thought of passing on such a Quirk to a successor. He doesn't think that anyone deserves to suffer in such a way, and so he decides that he will take the Quirk to his grave.
Then he spirals further.
If you thought his self-sacrificing nature was bad enough before, well you haven't met Izuku 'my Quirk is ruining innocent peoples' lives and I can't turn it off' Midoriya.
Because when Izuku decides that he is ending One for All's legacy, he realizes that he needs to end the fight of All for One and One for All once and for all. He has to do as much good as he can before he takes this Quirk from the world.
Basically, Izuku goes full Atlas, but he's the one forcing the punishment onto himself.
And take a moment to think about this...if Izuku was willing to do so much for one person, like Kouta or Eri...how far will the boy go when he believes he must protect the entire world?
The answer? As far as he must, even if it means breaking his own morals.
We start to watch Izuku go from a smiling, chaotic good hero to one who is morally gray and will go as far as to kill if he believes it will prevent future problems.
All for One is killed. Shigaraki is killed. Any other people who hold a copy, or were too involved with All for One, are potentially killed as well.
Izuku hates killing. It makes him sick, but prison clearly isn't enough. He's learned that much from All Might, at least. You can't be safe until you've made sure your mortal enemy is torn to shreds and doesn't have a Regeneration Quirk to fix himself up.
(And just to be safe, Izuku burns the remains and keeps the ashes in a Quirk-suppressant box.)
Our boy breaks. He is ruthless with the worst villains, and while he'll never bring harm to a civilian he can't say the same for his enemies. He feels guilty for ruining the legacy, for becoming a mockery of everything All Might asked for, for causing those he cares for to be put in harm's way.
But hadn't he always wished for a Quirk?
Sometimes, it's better not to wish at all…
(But hey, maybe there could be some dadzawa and dadmight comfort after all of that hurt. Who knows?)
#bnha#bnha prompt#bnha au#izuku has a quirk#angst#dadzawa#dadmight#but only potentially#instead of izuku falling apart to the point of murder you can just have aizawa and all might comforting our poor boy#in which i take izuku and apparently shatter him#bnha spoilers#i think?#sorry#bnhaven

What's your thoughts on when the plate falls and Cloud went to go help Tifa?
My thoughts or my analysis? Cause you’re getting the latter anyway lol I love doing action analysis, there’s so much happening and getting the chance to slow it down is great for getting a fuller picture.
Ok, spoiler warning for ppl who haven’t played – do I still need to do this? Eh ok, (I tag FF7R spoilers as final fantasy 7 remake spoilers) and it’s gonna be long.
Also, this is one person’s interpretation of the scene, so if you disagree that’s cool and we’ll agree to disagree.
You’re also gonna have to excuse the janky quality on some of the screens, I’m grabbing them from Youtube and it’s frustrating af trying to get the exact moment I want.
Other analyses if anyone’s interested.
Shinra HQ vision scene (Cloti/plot analysis)
Chapter 3 (Cloti reblog)
Tifa character analysis
Aerith Resolution (plot analysis/theory – I should probably update this since I’ve had other ideas since then)
Train graveyard (not really an analysis, but I got some sweet screenshots of Cloti)
Clotiscrew tunnel analysis
Cloti reunion analysis
The Promise Analysis
Andrea’s approval (Cloti ask response)
Leslie analysis (not mine, but a good read)
Cloti action touching
Aerti friendship analysis
Cloti body language chapter 3
Cloti healthy disagreement
Cloti post heliboss battle (chapter 15)
Clerith playground scene
Now, strap in and enjoy the ride.
Recap time!
This is a 6m scene I'm going over, so I'm gonna skip anything not directly relevant or I'll be here all night lol
So despite our brave heroes best efforts the plate is coming down. We get a power slide from Rude, a call from Tseng (who times it so perfectly was he watching?) and some cloti.
First thing we see if Tifa looking distraught. She has no idea how to stop the plate from coming apart and from the way she's looking at this consol wouldn't know what to do even if she could work the computer. They were so close to winning and now defeat is about to stomp all over them and kill everyone she loves. Tifa is someone whose driven by the desire for those she loves to be safe no matter what. This is a crushing moment for her.
Murderous Cloud is murderous (and kinda hot). I mean, we know he's got very little reservations about killing people in cold blood because he's SOLDIER!Cloud when it comes to a fight, but I do like the deadly intent we see on his face at different points in the game. He looked at Johnny a bit like this back in chapter 3 and now he's looking at Reno the same way. He means business.
And then he doesn't because Tifa's in trouble and we all know Real!Cloud prioritises Tifa's safety above everything else. That's not me saying he's no longer SOLDIER!Cloud, but the difference between the last screen and this is that he was fully in that badass merc mode about to kill Reno because it's what badass mercs do, whereas this is Real!Cloud urging him to refocus all that skill he's got into protective ability and go save the woman he loves.
I get some people might not see the distinction between the two personas, but it's actually really easy when you break it down. If it's about Tifa then Real!Cloud is gonna push for dominant action to keep her safe. If it's any other situation then he's just gonna let SOLDIER!Cloud do what he needs to. Sometimes it's a more conscious battle between the two and sometimes they co-operate. That's how a fractured psyche works within the context of Cloud's character. Don't believe me? You see both of them on screen at the start of chapter 8 in the church. Real!Cloud is the one saying “You okay, buddy?”
How many times can you count that we get an 1st person pov with Cloud in the whole game? Like literally looking through his eyes? Because this is 1st person pov. We are Cloud at this moment in time and he's rushing Rude, but still takes a glance at Tifa. I don't think this happens at any other point. This game is a 3rd person game. We're over everyone's shoulder. We don't get in their head to see through their eyes. This is deliberate framing. We obviously can't see his face or his reaction, but the fact we're seeing this moment as Cloud and he's chosen to look at Tifa is a big thing.
So Rude's pushed the button and Barret's yelling. Cloud actually looks more halfhearted in this swing than I expected. It's like Barret's fury just isn't enough to get his blood boiling lol
He's about to go after him anyway, when Tifa's voice stops him dead. I can't think of a moment in the game where someone else calling for him to stop actually makes him stop.
AH! Honestly this is such a move! Romantic hero hello! I know it's a classic move from Cloud – which is kindly weirdly implemented since we first saw it after OG, but it's been retconned as one of his signature moves with Tifa and only Tifa.
Also! EYE CONTACT! I'm gonna scream about Cloti eye contact until my own eyes cross lol they do eye contact so damn well! The only other person who got Cloud to look him in the eye was Andrea Rhodea lol Everyone else it's either confrontational eye contact or total avoidance. Cloud and Tifa have good eye contact. This highlights how much they trust each other. Even though Real!Cloud is afraid of letting Tifa know how weak he really is, he's ok with her looking him in the eye. He wants her to see the real him.
Now, I know some people go on about Tifa's chapter 3 comment of “Cloud, you're scaring me/your eyes didn't used to look so” as a negative thing. I've already explained why this is fucking bullshit, and I'd like to add that if Tifa wasn't comfortable with him in combat situations or otherwise she wouldn't make eye contact with him. Eye contact is fucking terrifying! You're able to see so much. These two aren't afraid to look in each other's eyes, even with their “I don't think he/she likes me” misunderstandings.
And just to cap it. They both smile to reassure each other they're ok.
Ok, so Reno and Rude are making their exit. Barret tries the FF7 boomer version of turning a computer off and on again by shooting it. Then Tseng proves he's either psychic, a stalker or just dramatic af by appearing on screen at just the right point to answer Tifa's question.
And look at her face! Whoever said she's a heartless bitch can stfu forever! This is the face of a woman who is broken by what's about to happen! She's lived in that slum for five years. She probably knows every local by name, and takes time to actually get to know them too. She cares. So much. She doesn't want anyone hurt. She's pleading for their lives. Pleading with her enemy. Who literally smirked when he said “there's nothing you can do now”. Tseng has no conscience.
Just adding this to be a butt. This is Cloud's reaction to Aerith when he sees her....what reaction? Yeah...
Then he asks where she is in his SOLDIER!Cloud way.
So Aerith gets dragged away and explosions start happening. A siren goes off. Barret and Cloud turn away from the computer. Tifa turns and says, “No no no no no” and Cloud immediately turns back. His eyes widen and he looks a bit lost for a moment. There's nothing he can do for her and he's not got the first clue anyhow, and there's no time. It's hitting him just how much she cares. I mean, he knew, but he didn't know, you know?
Notice the awkward hand there? Yeah, that's an “I don't know how to comfort you, what do I do?” hand gesture. Cloud's literally never seen Tifa like this. She's always trying her best to remain optimistic. She fights hard to protect what she loves. She doesn't fall to her knees defeated.
I'm actually loving all the extra insight all these analyses are giving me into just how reserved, how introverted, how determined Tifa is. She's had a hard fucking life. Born in a dust bowl, lost all her friends to the big city, saw her father murdered, almost died, her town got burnt to the ground but she still somehow managed to pick herself up and build a new life. She did that on her own. Nobody got her to Midgar. When she arrived she was lucky Marle took care of her. She could've been left alone with no support system. She got in with Avalanche and built a new family – even though they don't always see eye to eye on method, she also believes in their goal to stop Shinra and save the planet. She's principled and brave, focused af. But she's not unbeatable. Stuff gets her down. She tries her best to be cheerful, but doesn't always succeed. She keeps her problems to herself. But this? This is too big. This has broken her. She can't stay up and Cloud doesn't know how to help. Not emotionally, anyway.
OMG HE OFFERED HIS HAND!! I didn't see that before!! (Check the spot where his name is, his hand is between Tifa’s hair and arm, palm open.) I knew he grabbed her by the arm and hauled her up when she didn't move, but he's actually holding his hand out for her before that!! She's too in her head to do anything, though, and I don't think Cloud really understands that. Any devastating feelings he had about personal tragedy he's locked away because they literally broke him. It must be distressing on some level for him to see his own emotions mirrored in Tifa. I said before the urge to comfort her starts at the beginning of chapter 13, but maybe the first spark of that is this moment here, when he can't do a thing for her, except pull her along behind him and hope he can keep her alive.
There's some really nice still shots in this game and this is one of them. I don't really have anything to say about it. I mean, we knew Cloud had both hands on Tifa's shoulders so he could direct her where to go and she's not really with it until the moment the debris falls in front of her and shocks her out of her stupor. Cloud's focused on the job at hand, no time to worry about anything but the next obstacle. By keeping both hands on Tifa's shoulders he's ensured he doesn't have to keep checking on her to make sure she's with him. He's basically piloting her because she's not capable of decision making for the moment.
Someone tell me, do action backhugs count? That's non-optional embracing right there. How many of you have seen this exact moment? Because I have literally been replaying the same 4s clip to get the screen for this bit and this is the first time in about 10 replays that I stopped it here. This is the between 1 second frames when the debris falls.
I mean, this is what a bodyguard actually looks like. Cloud's focus is all on keeping Tifa safe. He pulls her close to him, offers strength while she's feeling weak. He is literally using himself as a shield for her. They're such a balanced couple. When one is weak the other is strong for them, and whatever flaws they have they accept. They really are just a great couple!
Probably the worst screen I've ever grabbed lol
I was trying to figure out the moment he took her hand but I can't quite stop on it and it's just a touch too much out of frame. Instead, I got this. EYE CONTACT. I don't need to explain it again, right? We get the whole Cloud/Tifa eye contact deal by now.
Although, at the same time, that's a fucking scary shot of Cloud lol reminds me of that meme with Rinoa and Squall where she says he's the best looking guy there and it's all pixellated lol
Ah! I remembered why I was trying to get their hands, to see if Tifa grabbed his first or he took hers. But I could see through the playback that he took her hand. He initiated contact.
Yknow, I know people often compare the whole one half is always the summoner or mage and the other half is the warrior, but this screen right here looks a lot like another FF couple.
Tidus and Yuna.
I mean...do I have to say more?
Cloud looks behind to check Tifa's ok – I mean she's not but you get the point. Still getting Tidus and Yuna vibes from this moment tbf. This is the exact same type of sequence they had of them in FFX-2 when Yuna's dreaming Lenne's past and she and Tidus replace Lenne and Shuyin. They're running down a corridor and Tidus looks back at her. I mean, seeing how this type of comparison is usually only reserved for the whole mage/warrior pairing, it's strange that their body language here mirrors Square’s first fully voice acted installment. At the time the graphics were cutting edge and the cut scenes are still lauded as some of the most beautiful storytelling. Strange that Tifa and Cloud could have this comparison to Tidus and Yuna, especially with the whole Suteki da ne always being used to prop up a certain ship.
Anyway, Cloud’s checking on Tifa cause he’s totally not in love with her and wants to make sure she’s safe. You get the idea lol
I'd like to point out that Cloud doesn't – despite popular opinion – have hold of Tifa's jubblies. His arm is under them, wrapped around her ribs, which is actually a very secure hold for him since he's trying to hang onto Barret and keep hold of Tifa too. You'll notice she's not exactly paying attention to her own safety – which makes sense since Cloud literally had to haul her up when she wouldn't move. She's not in a good headspace during the end of this scene, so he's being very protective towards her.
Conclusion
Another great piece of action! I mean, does it really matter if these two are in the trenches or just hanging out? They have a synchronicity that's impossible to deny. They balance each other in pretty much every single way there is for a couple of be two halves of a whole. The FF10 comparison is a new one on me, especially since I don't look at two titles and try to see what about each one is like the other. They're both different and unique with their own charm. But, the second I caught that screen of Cloud pulling Tifa along I was immediately hit by the thought of “That's what Tidus and Yuna do”, so I couldn't not mention it.
We get a clear look at how devastated Tifa is immediately after the realisation hits that sector 7 is about to get crushed. She's just gone. Checked out. If Cloud hadn't stepped up to save her she'd have died. She wouldn't have got herself over to Barret in time and he would've died going to get her and get them back to the zip line. This is why it's so important that Cloud picks up the slack. He was strong when she needed him to be. She's strong for him later when he becomes weak. They really are two halves of one whole.
I love that Tifa gets her own character development. She’s not just “the love interest”. Barret is basically a supporting character here, but we know he’ll get his turn in Corel and he does get his own moments to shine in Midgar, but this is cloti, so sorry dude, next time.

Killing Eve: Episode Analysis
*SPOILERS*
Season 1, Episode 4 - Sorry Baby
We start the episode at Bill’s funeral where Frank is speaking in behalf of Bill’s colleagues. Frank’s speech about Bill is particularly comfortable as Frank gets everything wrong about him, Frank says;
Bill’s colleagues “really really liked him” - there’s absolutely no sentiment in this and only says Bill’s colleagues really likes him, he doesn’t even include himself in that statement. He’s just saying the most generic things you could possibly say in a eulogy about someone you didn’t know at all.
Bill was “a very loud man” - not appropriate to say at a funeral at all really, he’s insulting him more than anything.
Bill was “a man who had time for everybody” - Eve say this isn’t correct, “no he didn’t”.
Bill “was truly a traditional man” - from Bill’s conversation with Eve about kinks, falling in love with many men and marrying his wife because he “really wanted a baby”, we know Bill was definitely not traditional
He continues to talk about Bill’s leadership and how he’d be lucky to “get a chocolate finger by lunch” because Bill “liked his biscuit Wednesdays” - again not appropriate and more of an insult than anything.
Not only does he get everything wrong but it was evident in S1E1, when Frank wasn’t invited to Bill’s birthday karaoke and Bill wanted to call Frank a “dick swab”, that they were not friends at all.
When we see Villanelle back in her apartment, she’s decorated with a big cake and balloons for Konstantin’s ‘birthday’. She did this big display to try to distract Konstantin from the fact that she had been “naughty” and gone against what he had ordered, and she did a similar thing in S1E1 when she asked him if he’d had a haircut.
The cake and balloons is also exactly what Anna said in S1E7, that Villanelle did for her after killing her husband, Max, she said “there were balloons everywhere and a huge cake and she was jumping around”. We can see that there is another parallel between these two moments; that Villanelle is pleased to have gotten rid of the person (Bill) who was standing in the way of her getting close to Eve, just as she got rid of Anna’s husband who was standing in the way of her getting closer to Anna.
We also get another example of Villanelle not just putting on a mask when shes in disguise, but her completely inhabiting whoever she’s disguising herself as. When they go into Villanelle’s bathroom to talk, Konstantin asks her “who are you?”, she says that she’s “Konstantin” but when he rips off her beard, she replies that she’s “Villanelle”. Konstantin knows he can’t speak to Villanelle properly until she’s fully out of character, which also serves to show Konstantin and Villanelle’s bond - he doesn’t just get angry with her, but instead he knows what she’s doing and goes along with the rules of her ‘game’
During Eve and Niko’s argument after Bill’s funeral about Eve being in danger at work, there’s a poster behind Niko in one of the shots. The poster seemed to be not only an odd choice of artwork for Eve and Niko’s to have in their house, but also that the poster is only in frame in one shot of Niko - right after Eve berates him saying, “I know you care. We all know you care. Sometimes I think it’s all you have”.
The artwork depicts a man inside a black bird/crow’s beak, trying to hold the bird’s beak open. This imagery seems fitting for this moment as Niko is like the man and Eve is like the bird, with Niko desperately trying to keep their life and marriage together and to not to get swallowed, but Eve ultimately ends up ‘consuming’ their marriage and crushing Niko along the way. The moment in the poster imagery though, is Niko not yet being ‘swallowed up’, as he gets by Season 3, but him still desperately trying to make their normal life work, cope with Eve’s behaviour and keep her safe.
After searching for the poster, I found that it’s a poster by the Polish artist Andrzej Pagowski for the 1985 Martin Scorsese film, ‘After Hours’. I’ve never seen the film myself but after googling it I found that the main character’s goal is just to return home despite a number of events happening through the night (just as Niko is just trying to fight for his life with Eve, despite Villanelle and all the danger she brings). The film also has a heavy theme of emasculation, which is also fitting as Eve essentially just emasculated Niko for showing his emotions of care and concern for her; where stereotypically men aren’t supposed to be vulnerable and show emotions, Eve has just insulted him for having and showing them.
When Eve goes to the butchers to meet with Carolyn, to tell Carolyn the evidence that Frank is the mole, there is a close up of a sheep statue that’s sitting outside the doorway of the shop. It’s this conversation that Eve has with Carolyn, that leads to Frank’s capture and questioning in the safe house. In this way, as soon as Eve and Carolyn have had their conversation, Frank has now become a ‘lamb for slaughter’. Eve says to Carolyn in S1E5 that Villanelle “took my phone it has the interview with Frank on it. And she’ll have the location of the safe house”. If Eve had never recorded the conversation they had with Frank at the safe house he may not have been killed as there was no proof that Frank told them anything about The Twelve and Villanelle also might not have been able to find the location of the safe house from Eve’s phone.
The sheep could also be symbolism referencing Frank being a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’. Since Frank is the mole, he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing as he’s been collecting information from MI5 amongst those who trust him and giving that information to The Twelve.
The symbolism could also be that Eve is the ‘lamb for slaughter’, as she’s getting deeper and deeper into her investigation and this breakthrough with Frank is what leads Eve, and subsequently Villanelle, to finding out that an organisation called The Twelve even exists.
The sausages in the butchers counter also foreshadows Frank’s death and castration, as well as when we find about Anna’s husband’s death and castration later on.
Villanelle is now working with Diego and Nadia after she was told in S1E3 that she isn’t allowed to work alone anymore and she arrives “a bit late” because she stopped to “deliver a package”, which was delivering Eve’s suitcase to Eve’s house. She asks Diego is he checked the sights on the gun, he cockily replies that he used it to shoot a politician so it works, but Villanelle was right he should have checked the sights because when she tries to shoot Frank she misses.
When Nadia chose Villanelle by shooting Diego in their three way stand off, it’s not really surprising that Nadia chose Villanelle over Diego. Diego wasn’t just incredibly annoying and condescending; but we saw that Nadia still liked Villanelle as when Villanelle grabbed Nadia’s wrists before they went into ‘Frank’s house’, Nadia touched her wrist where Villanelle had just held them and looked over to Villanelle walking towards the house.
We can also see how much more Villanelle considers Eve to be “special” than both Anna and Nadia, both people who Villanelle had been in ‘relationships’ with. Unlike Anna and Nadia, Eve isn’t nearly as easily manipulated. Anna must have been fairly easy to persuade into a relationship (considering all the letters that were sent between her and Villanelle), despite her having a husband and Villanelle almost certainly being underage at the time (and even if Villanelle wasn’t underage the relationship was certainly inappropriate as Anna was Villanelle’s teacher and much older than her). Nadia also only needed a little bit of persuasion for her to kill Diego and choose Villanelle, despite the fact that Villanelle betrayed Nadia by taking her place as the person who The Twelve was going to break out from prison. Whereas Eve doesn’t fall for any of Villanelle’s manipulation but sees straight through it, like in S1E5 when Villanelle says she’s trapped and doesn’t want to kill anymore, Eve says what Villanelle is saying is “bullshit”. Eve stabbing Villanelle in S1E8 shocked Villanelle, but Villanelle later tells Gabriel in S2E1 she did “to show how much she cared”, as if admiring what Eve did and considering it an act of love that no one else has done for her.
After Villanelle has convinced Nadia to trust her and then runs her over with the van, the camera shots visually show us Villanelle’s skill as a manipulator and ability to turn the tables on a situation. When Villanelle first meets Diego and spots Nadia in the wing-mirror of the van, it is Nadia in the front seat looking behind her to Villanelle - Nadia is in the position of power and has Diego’s protection, so Villanelle is outnumbered if she were to try and kill them. Then when Villanelle is running Nadia over with the van, we now get a shot of Villanelle from the wing-mirror - now Villanelle is in the position of power, she has turned Nadia against Diego and tricked Nadia into trusting her.
