I genuinely miss the vibes season one of the umbrella academy gave off. It was just so dark and comedic. Fantastic season. But Diego punching the roof of the car is a vibe too. Also Lila being excited with him.

When you tell Diego you in love with him, he doesn’t believe you. He doesn’t believe you because he doesn’t understand why, why someone so empathetic can fall for someone so broken, someone who has nothing to offer them.

“Don’t…” He says when you try to explain because it hurts too much to hope.

He doesn’t come back for weeks after that. You don’t reach out, you sense he needs the space so you give it to him.

It’s after you step out of the shower one night after shift that you find him sitting there on your couch.

“Hi.” You say quietly and he tilts his head away because looking at you, it’s painful.

“I don’t understand why.” He tells you, swallowing hard against the well of emotion in his chest. “I don’t understand what you see in me, why you would want me.”

“Love…” You say softly. “It’s not conditional, it’s raw, messy…”

You trail off because you realise you’re not actually answering the question and Diego, he needs you to be direct.

“You have a good heart.” You say finally. “You try to hide it but it bleeds out all the time, the way you are with the kids at the gym, the ones that need the extra time and attention. The fact you always give food to Derek, the guy on the stoop. There’s such compassion in you...”

You shake your head.

“But you don’t see any of that because you’ve been taught not to because it makes you easier to control, to manipulate if you feel like your worthless but you’re not worthless, you have incredible value, to me, to other people. You just have to start believing that.”

He can read between the lines, the things that you’re not saying, the things that will trigger him, make him run. His father’s disinterest has damaged him, obliterated his self-worth. He can barely remember a time where he was happy, that darkness didn’t ghost his footsteps. However the past few months with you…

There’s been a lightness in him, a warmth that he hasn’t felt before. When he’s with you, he feels safe, cared for. Diego has never had that stability, he’s never had someone that sees him as Diego, not Number 2.

He leaves again that night, through the window and you sigh because you can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

It’s a couple of hours later that you wake up to find him slipping under the sheets, his warm body curls around yours as he gathers you close, burying his face into the curve of your throat. Your fingers entwine with his, holding them close to your heart.

“You’re the only one that sees me.” He tells you as his lips brush over your skin. “The only one who knows who I really am.”

Since Diego can control any projectile what if he stopped the nuclear bomb apocalypse in s2 and sent the bomb into space instead?

It would’ve paralleled Klaus stopping the moon in the comics

Bonus: him sending the bomb into space blows up the moon and the world ends the exact same way
