Im going into high school next year, Im scared
I’m so sorry for the late reply, I’ve been caught up with the college life haha. But don’t worry! Plenty of people have been in the same boat as you and have realized it’s not as scary as you think it might be! Just enjoy yourself and have fun because, before you know it, you’ll be graduating and starting your journey.

High School Senior Advice
Here we go....the year we’ve all been waiting for😆
It’s been a while guys! This will most likely be my last post as a high schooler since I will be graduating on the 21st! Oh boy let me tell you, this year was probably my best year since I got to leave school early everyday! It’s been a fun ride, but let’s get on to the advice!!
Academics:
A lot of small assignments are assigned the first semester (at least at my school) and the big assignments such as your senior paper or portfolio are due the second semester.
ABSOLUTELY make sure you know exactly what you’re talking about in your senior paper and that you don’t put it off until the last minute. I don’t know about your teacher, but my teacher is making us do a formal 5 minute presentation about our paper so make sure you know what you’re talking about.
Beware of senioritis.
If you know you’re going to college, TAKE those DUAL ENROLLMENT classes because it’ll help you get a jump start in college. For example, I took an English dual enrollment course and now I don’t have to take English in college because I earned the credit while in high school.
Speaking of college, APPLY EARLY. The earlier you apply, the sooner you’ll find out about your acceptance and you’ll have more time looking for scholarships.
Figure out what colleges you want to apply to the summer before your senior year, that way you’re a step ahead of everyone else!
It’s okay if you don’t know what you want to major in. Lots of people don’t know what they want to do and they eventually figure it out while they are attending college!
Make sure you have all the credits you need to graduate high school and to go to the college you want to go to before it’s too late.
This year goes by FAST so make sure that you do your work and pass all of your classes before the final grades are put in. FYI colleges do look at your final transcripts so you still need to do well in your classes even if you don’t need that credit to graduate.
PAY YOUR FEES or else you’ll be held back from graduating. DONT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
BUY THE YEARBOOK!!!
Health:
Don’t stress too much about college applications. If a college doesn’t accept your application then it’s not a huge deal. There are always chances to try again in the future.
The second semester can be quite stressful if you’re doing your senior paper so just relax. There’s no need to rush and get it done as long as you start it when the paper is first assigned.
If you guys are anxious, don’t be. Presentations can be the worst things to happen to you but 5 minutes isn’t really that long of a time. Believe me, I have social anxiety too but I’m working on it.
Look nice and well groomed when it’s picture day. It’ll be in your last high school yearbook so make it look good!
Try not to have drama. It’s your last year and you might never see those people again after graduation.
Social Life/Clubs:
Go to every game/school event that’s going on! It’s your last year so those games will be the last games you see as a high schooler!
Spend time with all your friends as much as you can! Like I keep repeating, it’s your last year and you may never see them again!
GO TO PROM. It’ll be the one and only time you’ll be able to go (if you didn’t go your junior year). It doesn’t matter if you have a date! Lots of people go to prom with just their friends and they have a perfectly good time!
This is the year where you turn into a legal adult! Go vote! (Americans)
If you’re going away to college, make sure to hang out with your family a bunch before you move out. You’re going to miss them and they’re going to miss you!
And if you’re not going to college, get a job that helps support your family and eventually yourself so that you can move out and live your own life.
Well that’s it guys, you made it! I hope you have fun and enjoy your senior year, I know I did! Congratulations on being in the class of 20__! I want to give a special shoutout to my class, the Class of 2019!! It was fun doing these posts and I might or might not do a college freshman one but we’ll see. Thanks guys for taking the time and reading these posts, I really appreciate it! Now, it’s my time to graduate so have fun y’all!🤘

Just an update on life
Hey guys! I know it’s been a while since I’ve been active on here and especially since I posted anything. I’ve just been super busy with school and other things. I just wanted to give you guys an update on what I’ve been up to so far this school year. As I’m typing this, I currently have 2 projects in English due on Monday and I have math homework to catch up on😅 The reason why I have so much stuff to do is because I just don’t have very much time to do everything at any time. You see, I’m in marching band and that requires me to stay after school 3-4 hours each time, 2 days a week. Then I have to stay after school one day, on any day, for 1 hour because I have to practice with my section. And then there’s extra things added like football games and competitions so it really is something you have to be committed too and also have good time management.
On another note, I’ve also been applying to colleges and applying for financial aid as well. The good news is, I already got accepted to a couple colleges already and even received a scholarship from one of them. I put the job search on hold until today because I only have two more weeks of marching season left before I’m completely done with marching😭 I’m happy but sad at the same time because I had my time with my second family and I’m also ready to finish this chapter of my life. If you’re asking why I’m not doing band in college, it’s because it takes so much time out of your schedule and it can make you really stress out. I want my college years to be less stressful.
But I made it just in time for spooky season🎃💀🕸👻 Happy Halloween everyone!

so i don’t know if you’ll be able to help me w/this but I just started high school and as a not-very social-person it’s really hard for me to jump right in to make friends. honestly, it’s so socially exhausting the first week or so i always end up snapping at someone or making a bad first impression. do you know any tip to make making friends less daunting or more manageable.
Don’t worry, I used to be super anti-social too when I was a freshman, I still am but I’m more outgoing than I was before. I’d say to just take it slow and start with people you sit next to in class. Another thing that really helped me was joining clubs and/or sports. If you’re interested in anything your school has to offer, I suggest you go to them! Getting to know the people in your club/team is a great way to start making close friends in high school.

hey there! I want to start a club at my school (particularly a debate team) but I don’t know how to go about that. Any advice?? (ps thanks for this blog!!)
I feel like the best way to start a club is to get a teacher to host the club. If a teacher wants to be a part of that club then they can take it to administration and make it into an official club. A debate team shouldn’t be too difficult to form either since plenty of schools have debate teams, which the schools support.

Ok so I’m a senior in high school. And I was bullied by one person for 3 years, which is like whatever. But the person who calls herself my “best friend” hangs out with my bully. Would it be wrong of me to cut ties with my friend because it hurts that she hangs out with the person who bullied me?
It’s not wrong to cut ties with your best friend, unless they haven’t done anything to prove that they aren’t really your best friend and are doing things behind your back. I think you should talk to her about it and if the problem still continues and she even starts bullying you too, then I wouldn’t hesitate to cut ties. At the same time however, you can’t always control who your friends are friends with, but if they know that you’ve always had problems with that person, then that’s not cool. I’ve had a situation similar like this that happened recently where “friends” knew what happened, yet they still hung out with the person who did those things. I hope this helped somewhat.

Hey guys! If you have any questions you want to ask me or if you need more advice, or if you simply just want to talk, you can ask me publicly, anonymously or you can just message me. I’ll try to answer any questions to the best of my ability. I’ll also try to answer them as soon as I can, but I probably won’t answer right away unless I have free time. Even if I don’t answer within a day or so, please understand that I’m busy with school and with after school activities, as well as applying for jobs and colleges. But don’t worry, I’ll still answer you! It’ll probably just take some time before I get around to it. Have a good day/night :)

To freshmen starting school soon...
Make sure to ask for a map of your school so you don’t get too lost trying to find your classes. If you need help, ask for help, students and staff will help you find your way around if you just ask.
In my school, freshmen started on Wednesday and everybody else started today. If your school has a day where they just focus on the freshmen, get to know your way around before you have to deal with getting lost in a big crowd of students.
Remember that high school isn’t as scary as you think! You’ll have a blast and 4 years will go by before you know it! Good luck, class of 2022!!🎓

High School Junior Advice
Here I am with the junior advice! I’m not going to talk too much about the first few days of school since you’ve already had 2 years of experience. Well here you guys go! :)
Academics:
Really pay attention in your classes this year. Especially if you’re in honors classes.
If you haven’t taken your freshman and sophomore year seriously, now is the time to start taking things serious.
Classes are going to get difficult and you’re going to get assignments piled up on you. Tip: Finish the assignments that are due sooner, first. That way you have more time to finish other assignments that are due at a later date without having to worry about the ones that are due sooner.
Start thinking about what college you want to go to (if you want to go to college), and what you want to do when you’re older. Everyone is going to ask those types of questions all the time so be prepared for that.
You’re gonna want to keep a schedule of when you do things because school will take over your life if you don’t have good time management.
If you’re in a sport or a club that requires you to meet up very often, then you really need to balance out the time you take when you do homework.
Ask for recommendation letters early if you can. That way, you won’t have to worry about it your senior year.
Talk to your counselors about what you plan to do in the future because they will help you out. Ask them about what classes you should take.
Study for the ACT/SAT as soon as possible because colleges are going to really pay attention to your scores.
Self-Care:
This is going to be one of your most stressful years so remember to relax every once in a while.
Don’t let work get to you, you’ll get through this. Before you even know it, you’ll be a senior :)
If you’re stressed out, do some exercises that will help ease that stress.
Remember to spend time with your friends and family. I know it’ll seem like school is taking over, but don’t let it.
Miscellaneous:
You’re finally an upperclassmen now! You may think that freshman are annoying, but that doesn’t mean you have the right to bully them.
You’ll most likely find your group of friends this year.
Nothing too exciting is going to happen this year. You’re mostly going to be focused on prepping for big tests and getting prepared to look at colleges.
For some schools, juniors get to go to prom! You should go with your friends if you don’t have a date ;)
Junior year goes by fast, even if it doesn’t seem like it sometimes. Make it count!
And finally, don’t try to rush your junior year, you’re going to be a senior in no time :) so cherish it
And there we go, junior advice is complete! I’m not going to make one for seniors because I make these posts from my own personal experiences I’ve had in school. Since I’m going to be a senior, I can’t make realistic advice for you guys :( But that’s okay because I might post one a year from now! Sorry to anyone who is going to be a senior and is looking for advice!

High School Sophomore Advice
I’m noticing that more and more people are now starting to post and search for advice. School is approaching and I wanted to give out some advice for any sophomores this year.
Academics:
Remember that your grades do matter in your underclassmen years.
Challenge yourself if you feel like you’re prepared for honors/AP classes.
Classes are going to be a little tougher this year, but that’s expected. Just don’t slack off.
Like every year, you should study for big quizzes and tests. And make sure to turn in every assignment you can because it’ll help in the future.
Towards the end of they year, you should start thinking about your future and what colleges you want to attend. Junior year will be filled with questions about your future. It’s better to figure things out sooner.
Keep that GPA up! It’s very important if you’re considering or want to go to college after you graduate.
Talk to your teachers, most of them are more than willing to help you understand a subject. Most teachers will do what they can to help you succeed!
Also, talk to your counselors and get to know them. They can really help you out during your junior and senior year!
Self-Care:
Just like your freshman year, bring deodorant! Hygiene is very important wherever you go.
If you’re a female, make sure to bring extra pads/tampons or anything you use in case an emergency pops up! Bring an extra pair of underwear and/or shorts to wear if anything happens! (You may not think it’ll happen to you, but periods can come unexpectedly sometimes. Believe me, I know).
Take some days off if you’re not feeling too good. Whether it’s from a cold or if you’re not mentally well that day, take that day off and stay home.
Don’t beat yourselves up over small assignments. Especially if you start crying and stressing over it; take a break and come back to it later. Your health is more important than some assignment.
Remember that you’re still a kid, so have fun! Make the most out of your sophomore year because you only go through it once.
Activities:
If you haven’t already, do something you want to do! Try out for a sport or join a club.
It’s okay if you don’t want to do anything, everyone has their own preferences.
Go support your friends if they are in a sport or doing something that’s important to them. They’re going to appreciate that very much.
Going to games, plays, concerts, etc. let’s you meet a bunch of creative people! It also shows that you have a lot of school spirit, which all schools should have.
Go out with friends to a concert or just chill at the mall. We’re all still young so make the most out of your time!
Other:
Don’t let other people pressure you into doing something you’re not comfortable doing. This goes for everyone, not just sophomores.
Just because you’re a sophomore doesn’t mean you should make fun of the freshmen. You were just a freshman a few months ago, so you should understand how it feels to be super nervous.
To add on to my previous point, being a sophomore doesn’t make you “cool”. We’re all just trying to get to our classes and graduate.
You can be just as annoying as some freshman are during the first month of school. Please don’t go around bullying freshmen.
Cherish the time you have left of relaxation because junior year is gonna be a roller coaster.
Avoid starting and getting involved in any and all drama. It doesn’t help anyone and it most certainly won’t help you.
You should know how things work in your school if you haven’t moved. Even if you did move, you should have an idea of what your new school is going to be like.
This is the year where you can start learning how to drive and even get your driver license! Practice driving a lot because you’re going to want to get your license as soon as possible.
You’re going to look at freshmen and ask yourself, “was I really like that?” If you do, it just shows that you’ve grown as a person. But don’t think you’re an adult because you’re far from being one.
And most importantly, stay safe and stay out of trouble. I guarantee you that you will enjoy high school more if you stay away from bad influences.
Well that’s all the advice I have for any sophomores going into high school this year. Feel free to include anything that you think would be helpful in the comments! I will do an advice post for upcoming juniors very soon, maybe right after I post this advice lol. Thanks for reading! :)

High School Freshman Advice
I’m starting my senior year of high school and just wanted to give some advice to students coming into high school. I’m going off of what I’ve experienced from my last 3 years :)
Academics:
Don’t start slacking off just because it’s your first year in high school, GRADES MATTER. Colleges will pay attention to that.
Don’t stress out. Freshman year is the easiest year, education wise, so just do the work and turn it in.
Ask your teachers for help or advice. Most of your teachers are willing to help out their students if you just ask them for some help. Go to tutoring if you really need to because it’ll help on those tests.
If you can, check your grades at least every week or so, so you can talk to your teachers about what you need to fix early on.
If you’re absent, have a friend send you the notes and homework for. each class you missed so you can stay caught up with the class. Trust me when I say, THIS HELPS A LOT.
Study what you can and need for big tests. Like I said before, don’t start slacking off because you think grades don’t matter this year.
FINALS WILL KILL YOU IF YOU DONT PASS, so please, study hard for those finals. Just don’t stay up the night before, studying, because you won’t be focused and could end up getting a bad grade.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask anybody for help when finding your classes. Especially if it’s a fellow freshman that you’re asking and they have a map. That’s what I did my first day as a freshman and I’m still alive.
Self-Care:
As mentioned before, don’t stay up all night studying for a test. Get a good, full night of sleep and eat breakfast before you take that test.
Bring your own lunch if you can, school food is disgusting. If you can’t bring your own lunch, make sure to at least bring some money for the vending machines.
HYGIENE IS SUPER IMPORTANT. Please shower every day and wear some deodorant and perfume/cologne. No one wants to smell your body odor. Also, please brush your teeth, that’s also very important!
Bring a bottle of water or some coffee in the morning to start your day awake and refreshed.
Make sure to wear a jacket when it starts getting cold out! Also, if you want too, bring a light jacket/sweater to wear during class because some classrooms get really cold.
If you feel like your outfit, hair, or makeup are not on point that day, don’t worry about it! Each and every one of you are beautiful, and don’t forget that!!
Ignore any negative comments that are thrown at you. Those people are jealous and just want attention, so don’t give them the satisfaction of getting upset.
Think positively! High school can be rough, especially when most kids can be really mean. If you think positively about things, you’re going to have a good year :)
Activities/Social Life:
Don’t be afraid to try out for sports or join clubs! That’s where you’ll meet a bunch of wonderful people, who might even become your closest friends!
Even if you didn’t get a spot on the team, it’s not the end of the world. You’ll still have 3 more years to try out for the same sport.
Don’t expect to graduate with the same friends you came in with. You’re going to lose some friends and you’re going to get new ones.
Avoid any and all drama you can. It doesn’t help anybody and it won’t matter in a few months anyways.
UPPERCLASSMEN DON’T LOVE YOU. They’re only saying that so they can get in your pants and move on the their next victim.
No, we don’t throw pennies at you. Whoever made that up was just trying to scare you into thinking that everybody bullies the freshmen.
Even if you’re not joining a club or sport, have some school spirit! Get involved and go to games to support your school!
Pep rallies/assemblies are lit. It’s just not the same as the ones you had in middle school.
For the love of god, DO NOT STOP IN FRONT OF PEOPLE WHEN THEY’RE TRYING TO GET TO CLASS! It doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman or a senior, just don’t, it’s annoying.
Also, please don’t yell to your friends across the damn school, especially at lunch time. That just shows everyone how annoying and immature you are.
You only have 5-6 minutes to get to your class. I suggest going to your classes the first week before trying to meet up and talk to your friends before they start.
Don’t try to act all high and mighty to act cool, because you’re not. Most people think freshmen are annoying, don’t give them a reason to believe that you are.
We don’t actually hate you, we just tell you we do to scare you a little bit.
Be who you normally are and don’t act fake. Rumors spread like wildfire so don’t bother being one, because everyone’s going to find out, one way or another.
Supplies:
Bring your phone and charger. Teachers will let you charge your phones in class as long as you aren’t using them as a distraction. Bring a portable charger if you can.
To add on, bring a pair of earbuds to listen to music in between classes or even during classes. Some teachers will let you listen to music while you’re working.
Bring a pack of gum or mints. It’ll help freshen your breath after lunch and it’ll also help you focus.
You don’t need everything the teacher tells you to bring to their class. Give it a week and then get anything you know you’ll need.
ALWAYS BRING A PENCIL AND A PEN. Some teachers might make you write in both pencil and pen so be prepared for that. Make sure to bring a spare just in case you lose them.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, let ANYONE BORROW A PENCIL. The chances of them giving it back are about 0.
Get a notebook or at least some college ruled paper to write your notes in. Don’t be that person who always asks for stuff.
If your school doesn’t have lockers (like mine), bring a backpack to wear at school. Don’t try to carry all of your stuff with your arm all day because you’ll most likely regret it. People are just going to think you’re weird for not bringing a backpack like everybody else.
Well that’s it for my advice to freshman. I’ll do a sophomore and junior one another time just to let people know what to expect in those years. Thanks for taking the time and reading this! :)
