we truly regressed when people started buying into the genderbending is inherently transphobic thing. yeah that twelve year old being inquisitive and having fun on deviantart was your enemy all along.

#how did that even have a leg to stand on. when so many emerging trans folk literally began exploring gender because of it #ill never forget seeing a lone korean comment on fc2 under genderbend art talking about how they visit that picture every day after work #because it makes them feel understood #to even think of being beyond what you were born. in korea. my god i feel it in my spine just how lonely that ought to be #every time i see that rhetoric make rounds im reminded and equal amounts astounded #by how determined people are at making trans folk a monolith #and how there must be a Correct way to explore gender #if the discussion had stuck to the concept’s Capacity to be transphobic and not about inherently being so we’d have been better off.#& at the end of the day art shouldn’t always have to need such a disclaimer on selfhood to be worthy #in the same vein actors should not need to relinquish themselves to the public to act as a gay or trans character #I don’t know !#saw hatsune mikuo art in the year 2024 and the soul near jumped it’s been so long king 🙀#putting this in here because it’s sooort of art related no?#and people know where I stand on this so perhaps if anybody finds it uncomfortable they can gracefully disengage with me

absolutely loving the permitmaster episode, especially the melon task because of how everyone did it

joel got more and more panicked with each slice he ate and eventually started punching grian and cub to get them to want to punch him even though they were already punching him on request

cleo broke it and then it didn't drop as slices so they were being clever and assuming cub and grian had done something tricky while simultaneously being silly cause. silk touch axe. also "you can't see it therefore it doesn't exist. object permanence is a lie"

beef going all "ce n'est pas une pipe" and saying 'the melon's demolished its now melon slices?' and his very convenient lava

the sound effect in grian's pov for false loading after reading the task and then her deciding damaging herself to eat melon is more fun and therefore better than just throwing it away

joe shooting a rocket and saying "oh no it exploded" and committing to pretending the melon was gone

they're all crazy and i love them

They *all* get a chance to be featured.#Cooperation was the real end goal! However I do think these two have the best frontman energy of the group.#Or at least 'crowd favourite' energy. I also really loved hearing what people thought their vocal styles would be like!#This was probably one of my favourite polls to do and I love drawing these characters a lot B*)#I'd love to spend a bit more time in this AU so count on me bringing it back.#One thing I keep feeling like I need to redeem myself on is Madam Lan's Translucent skirt. I have *not* done the concept justice yet.#It is such a crack-platonic ship but I want to think Madam Lan and A-Qing would enjoy each other's company.#Possibly also with JYL as well. They can be like mutually beneficial therapy dogs to each other.#Madam Lan never got to see her kids grow up into teenagers after all. She only had sons. Never daughters.#Even if she saw her kids once a month we do know she treated them with so much love and kindness.#She would bite the shit out of YZY for yelling at JYL. What a sight to see. A-Qing would also start biting (for fun).

i think one of the reasons 13s era can be misinterpreted/overlooked is bc it followed 12 - and twelve is one of the speechiest doctors, which 13. isn't. 12 will talk you to death, 13 will just kill you - her threats are very simple. "stop, or ill stop you". and it's easy to tell someone's motivations when they're prone to going into speeches about them - harder when they're keeping things to themselves.

in general, 13s era deals a lot with things Unsaid - the meat of things is in what's not said, like with 13/yaz. and i think that's why people accuse 13 of not caring for her companions. she never gets a "a duty of care" line or a "in among 7 billion there's someone like you" (and I hate that line but it does illustrate the point) - that's not how 13 shows affection.

but (and here's the thing that kicked this thought process off) she does still show it. it's still present. and it's present in the tardis.

sort of.

13 never gives her companions a key. other companions got one - but not the fam. bc the key is entry but it's also vulnerability. it represents a step in the doctor-companion relationship- one that she isn't willing to take. but, what she does, is code them biologically to the lock. they don't need a key - which can be lost, be destroyed - they will always be able to get into the tardis.

it's an extension of something 12 said to Bill- "You're safe in here, and you always will be" - "and you will always be welcome here". it's understated, no big gesture made of it - but it's true.

and that's a lot of 13s era.
