Meet LIBERTA
Soooo finally I can talk about my babygirl:
This is Liberta, CrossFrisk's shipchild, she has XFrisk's appearance and Cross's white hair, with the soul fused by both of theirs
I posted a beta des of her before and got a little change
In a alternative universe where Cross Frisk had been together in the first timelines and got break up after (by Frisk alone because Cross didn't even remembered they had been lover)
The story went on until one day Ink suddenly read the notes he wrote when he still played with XGaster and his experiments
After got the OVERWRITE button, the first thing Frisk tried to do was making copies of his and Cross's soul, then tried to fused them together.
But before the process was completed, Frisk stoped that out of nowhere and put it deep down into the OVERWRITE button.
Ink, as a guardian watching everything, he noted that down and forgot about it after that.
The process still be paused, lying inside the button Cross holding, he couldn't use the button to do anything, so that was Ink who went and asked for help from XGaster (since Cross refused to have anything to do with him)
XGaster gave him another button which can help him continue the pausing process of Frisk, nothing more, so XGaster couldn't do anything with the fused soul either.
After a (very) long time considering and talking with others, and thinking about things between him and Frisk, Cross finally had the courage to press the CONTINUE button.
And that's how their daughter was born, since her soul was fused by both of theirs, she had the memories from them, about XGaster and Xtale. But she didn't have any emotions about those, it just like watching a long movie from afar, you can know what happen but hardly get their feeling, not to mention the memories also slowly fazing along with her growing.
About power, her strengths are physical strength and fighting with weapons.
She can summon any weapons she can image of, due to that, she knows quite a bit about weapons and how to use them, and grew a liking, especially about bombs and anything can explode.
Sadly, she can't summon Gaster Blaster.
At her younger days, she couldn't know what her best is, so she tried to learn everything, much as she could, so she knows quite a lot, from combat to daily work, from repairing machinery and components to skillful work, but not so proficiently.
Baking is one of those, in fact, she quite likes it, so she turned it into a change to make some money. She made a small online bake shop and sales her baking (mostly to acquaintances)
But it still is her side hobby, her main goal are traveling everywhere and discovering everything.
She used to go with her Dad to an AU, where the land almost was a vast desert. She sat in a roofless off-road car, ran through the desert. Her hair flied in the wind and the heat burned her face along with the dust and sand. She loves that feeling, and wants to tried more. So beside her schooling, she always follows everyone to other AUs whenever she has chance.
Anddddd that's all for now, hope you enjoy and love her as I do <3

Don't Leave Me This Way
Warnings- angst, marital spats, language, a hint of spice
A/N- After a decade together, Honey and Leon have come undone. But on the anniversary of the day their lives changed, Leon decides to mend that. For @forenschik

Part One:
Honey was, in a word, incensed. That Leon would even think about the two of them going out on a weekday bothered her. Then again, at this point in their busy lives going out on ANY day bothered her. But that, Leon told her, was the problem. It was eat, sleep, work, kids, eat, sleep, work, OCCASIONALLY have sex. Throw in Sunny’s growing powers and the odd alternate universe traveller for good measure. That was the rhythm of married life she responded rather dismissively.
Leon took the club scheduling book out of Honey’s hand and held it high above his head where he knew Honey couldn’t fathom reaching it. “How about fuck off with this rhythm of life.”
“LEON!” Honey both whined and raised her voice at her husband as she scrambled to her feet and attempted to climb him. When that didn’t work, and he simply laughed at her and held the book higher, she stood on the desk chair. “How about you go fuck yourself?”
Leon threw the date book. Honey jumped to go after it, but he blocked her move. He held her tight in his arms so she was made to stand still. “Fuck’s sake, I was asking for a date. Now I’m telling you. You’re gonna go upstairs and get ready and put on that sexy purple dress. I’ve packed up The Littles. We’re taking them to your parents, and then we are going to that Italian restaurant you love on Mulberry Street. Then we’re coming home, and you’re getting a right good seeing to.” Before she could protest Leon clamped his hand over her mouth, “Now.”
Honey shockingly obeyed her husband. Her face crimson with anger as she held her chin in the air, arms crossed in front of her chest before throwing up the double finger. In the shower she realized something. It had been so long, and their lives were so busy, that Honey couldn’t discern being mad from being turned on. A lump formed in her throat because she was ashamed. Or disappointed? When was she ever NOT enamored by Leon? Maybe this date was exactly what they needed.
---
“I don't know, I think we should maybe homeschool Sunny. He's not going to have a handle on anything until he's come to the end of what he can do. Maybe we can communally teach him? Selina is fine, she always will be. She could use other normal kids. I think she and Sun are too dependent on each other. They're only six and seven. Usually that level of codependency comes later in life. Like you and Jonathan. I don't know, what do you think?”
Leon watched as his wife took her first breath since their dinners arrived. She swallowed most of her wine before chasing a tortellini around her plate. Her head in one hand like an insolent child instead of a woman in her thirties. Honey looked at Leon expectedly. He took a breath of his own, but she interjected just as he was about to speak.
“They might resent us if we separate though. Sunny needs to feel as normal as possible. They're in Montessori school, so all those kids are bound to be a little strange too. I guess if they were homeschooled you would have to cut back on your classes, and we would have to scale back on bookings.”
Leon clenched his jaw between sips of his bourbon. He stabbed at his dinner, chewed and swallowed while simmering. He sat back with the expectancy that Honey would continue, uninterrupted the same way she had for the last decade. He could feel the simmer start to boil just below the surface while, sure enough, she kept on.
“Punk is just taking off. I know CBGB is where it's at, but Hilly’s been a mensch sending us Patti, Debbie and The Ramones. I know we're still stuck in folk, but I REALLY think it can turn around into rock. There's this outrageous glam or metal or whatever band from LA. Oh! Did you get to hear that demo from the Irish band? Klaus said they're like, one of the biggest bands in the world. I don't know if that would be in our timeline too, but he's onto something. Get in while we can. But who wears sunglass-”
“αρκετά!!” Leon yelled. ENOUGH!
He banged a fist on the table which drew attention from nearby diners. His nostrils flared with anger and embarrassment. While the outburst mortified Leon, he also wouldn't take it back. It was his only means of getting Honey’s attention. And it did.
She sat back with her arms crossed. One eyebrow arched in challenge. Honey was no shrinking violet. She did tend to her grudges like a little garden. If she had to add Leon to it for a little while, so mote it be.
Leon’s face softened, his shoulders sank while he bit into his lip. Then he sat up straight, an air of defiance about him. Before she knew what was happening, Leon slid Honey around the booth with ease so that they sat side by side. He made a bold move when his wife turned away from him.
Leon snuck a hand inside of Honey’s bare thighs. He knew her. Knew she wouldn't be wearing any panties. It wasn't even meant as a tease. She just couldn't with this particular dress. He took advantage of that.
Letting two of his fingers delve inside of his wife, Leon slid them as painfully slow as possible. Her body reacted. It became instantaneously wet allowing him to slip in with ease. He continued in Italian.
“Tesoro mio, non stai zitto da dieci anni. Hai chiesto la mia opinione e io ne ho una.” His fingers pumped faster. One found her clit for a brief moment before abandoning it “Ora sii una brava moglie e lasciami dire la mia.”
My sweet, you haven't shut the fuck up in ten years. You asked for my opinion, and I have one. Now be a good wife and let me have my say.
Honey swallowed oxygen and choked on it. Her heart pounded in places she forgot carried a beat for the man beside her. Her hips shifted forward while she spread her legs to accommodate Leon.
“I'm.. sorry..” her breath came out choppy. “What.. what do you think?”
Leon removed his fingers and draped his arm along Honey’s shoulders. It curled around her neck but with a gentleness. All of the anger dissipated seeing his wife submit to him so easily. That sexual reminder he had as much agency in this marriage as she did.
“I think,” Leon lifted Honey’s chin so her face drew closer. Instead of her lips he kissed her forehead and caught her gaze, “It's time to send the Littles away without us.”
Honey inhaled ready to release a protest. Leon clamped a hand over her mouth. “For longer than a few days at the lake. Or a weekend down at the shore with your sister's kids. Or overnight at your parents place. It's time Yía Yía takes them to Greece.”
Leon felt his wife’s body start to tense. He knew she was processing what he had to say but was prepared to fight him every step of the way. He kept on, “We can take the kids to London, stay a day or two. Then the two of us are going away together for the first time. Not a weekend here. Or a day there. PROPER vacationing just us.”
“We-”
He cut Honey off with a kiss this time. “We can afford to close the club for a while. I love you, and I bloody love our kids. The three of you are my whole fucking world. Don’t you think we’ve gotten a bit lost? It hasn’t been just us since the 60s. You don’t even know what day it is, do you?”
Honey blanked. Her eyebrows knit together as her brain searched back through time to what she may have missed. Why a random day at the end of August was so important. Leon stared at his wife, willing her to remember. He knew she maybe just took it for granted that this instance had always been there. Neither could remember a time when it wasn’t.
Honey’s body deflated. “Oh, Leon.” Hot tears sprang to her eyes which she angrily wiped away. “When HAVEN’T I loved you? I don’t think I was ever able to boil it down to our last time away together. Has it really been ten years? I always thought the moment I saw you was the moment I fell in love. I held you at bay didn’t I?”
Leon used his thumbs to brush the tears away from her cheeks. One traced along her bottom lip before he pushed her hair off her shoulder to kiss it.
"Gracie, look at me." He lifted her chin again so their eyes met. She sniffled. "I think you know that little bits of me and you could scatter across the cosmos, and we would always find one another. It's why we need to get away, the two of us. C'mon, wanna go for a walk?
He stood, laid more money down than necessary, and reached for Honey's hand. She took it but rebuffed the rest, "Leon, it's midnight. It's the hottest summer on record. And someone is murdering women with dark hair and their lovers."
"So?!" She frowned. "Oh bugger off!" he teased. "Klaus said his name's David Berkowitz, and he never goes outside of Queens. I just want to hold my missus's hand and walk beside her a little while. That's all."
How could Honey resist?

Love your fics!!🥺 I was wondering if you have any good young or kid hashimada fics out there that you'd recommend? I feel like I've read most of them like twice already ahaha. THANKS!
Thank you! I’m glad you like them! 🥺💖
Anon I know that feeling SO WELL, so I’ll do my best to help! This is also where I reveal that I was a hardcore lurker who was too shy to engage before I started posting and during the first months of quarantine last year, I read through the entire hashirama/madara tag twice because this was literally how I coped.
Some of the 2021 ones I haven’t read/can’t review (bc writing has taken over my life) but are on my kid-fic to-read list so I included them here.
Behold the fruits of my labor, hopefully well organized (but under a readline bc my god this got long with 45 fics in total.)
Hashimada (as kids or teens)
An extensive, but not exhaustive, list for AO3 not in any order except my personal starred recs first. Some are a timeline of their relationship (ie going to adulthood) and I included them here if at least half the fic (or close) was dedicated to when they were kids.
People (3+ kid or teenager fics)
Mari_kel (me)
Out of Time (M, multi, time travel, est relationship, found family, incomplete) Birds of a Feather (M, multi, canon au, mythological au, incomplete) Practice Makes Perfect (T, one-shot, kissing, teenagers, BoaF au) Two Hearts, Tied Together (M, one-shot, soulmate au, Tobirama POV)

Rainy season by EldOchFlamma *
(G, long oneshot, teenagers, after the river confrontation, Izuna injured) * fic is set in the odd time after the river confrontation but before they’re adults and it’s rare we get fics centered here that do it well. This one does and ends on a hopeful note.
Climb Those First Steps by Lohrendrell *
(G, first kiss, pre-canon, teenagers) *One of my favs. Short but sweet.
Compromises by dinopire *

(T, first crush, clingy Hashirama)
Subtle by amsy
(G, modern school au, confessing)
One Second by raindrops28
(G, angst, Hashirama taken in by Uchiha)

(T, long oneshot, romeo and juliet-esc au, growing up)
just kids by orphan_account
(T, referenced torture, implied rape (not explicit but fyi), meeting at the riverbank)

(G, focus on Madara as a sensor rather than relationship)
flowering. by greywords
(G, poetic language, all lowercase)
Damn... This is love, huh. by fuckgoose
(G, fishing, art, v short)
the earth is warmer when you laugh by sanguinedawns
(T, growing up, teenagers, cute, animal injury (no death))
Stop Running Away I’m Trying to Confess My Love to You by junistired
(T, teenagers, modern highschool au, confessing, valentine’s day)
Abandoned (or not updated >2 years)
Kids by the River by chronicallyCritical
(T, canon-compliant, wish it was continued)
Crimson Cherry Blossoms by Loeka
(G, fem!Madara, crush at first sight, abandoned but the author did outline a lot more in the comments on the last chapter if you’d like closure)
.
This is as much as I could find, but I know I’m missing some. Hope this helps you find something new anon!

Next baybee, is Mirta Wingert, in her pink punk barbie Enchantix, glow-ing!
In this AU, she is the Fairy of Emotional Illusions and very, very gay. Let’s hear the rest below! 😁
Krystal | Diaspro | Mirta | Galatea | Nova | Miele
Mirta is the same age as the Winx, but through her mid-year transfer to Alfea that only got finalised after the Trix’s megalomaniac attack had been dealt with, she repeated a year and graduated while the girls were away in Gardenia.
Mirta is from an influential family in Magics that has brought forth many a council member, industrial and landowner. All of them witchcraft users, though. When Mirta manifested with magic it was not a question which stream she would pursue and that she would do it at one of the top schools of the Magic Universe. Mirta’s parents don’t immediately belong to the creme de la creme, but have enough influence to make things like this happen for their daughter.
Being part of the upper class industrialists, but at the same time being removed enough from them to allow independent thought shaped Mirta’s personality greatly and contributed to her explosive rebellious teen stage. She wholeheartedly believes in what the punk anti-capitalist philosophy stands for and has alternately tried either to change her family’s ways from within, or to break away and distance herself. Her generous allowance was always spent on local youth groups, anti-discrimination organisations and personal drives for people in need. Many a times had her parents have to drag her off the streets where she chilled with punk buskers and their dogs before they could set an end to it by sending Mirta off to Cloud Tower.
Could Tower, now that was something else. Despite growing up in a family of witchcraft users, her home was still just basic, good old Adquistes. She has never lived in an exclusively witchcraft using society like the Cloud Tower coven, so a lot of things came as a culture shock to her. The school preserved a lot of things that modern witches in an integrated society don’t observe anymore, just for the sake of teaching history. Not all of it became Mirta, especially not the antagonism towards the fairies. Her heart is huge and as a true punk she stood up to the system and what she believed was not right. This didn’t make her many friends among the hard-core traditionalist witch*ers and combined with her very short statue, got her pushed around a lot.
Her only comfort and friend was Lucy, a childhood friend of hers. They met in an LGBT youth shelter organised event where Lucy had been tentatively seeking help for transitioning. Mirta was there to volunteer and the two girls hit off really well complaining about the world and uplifting each other where they could. After that they stayed online friends and talked on various forums, not having much of a face-to face relationship before becoming dorm mates at Cloud Tower. There it became obvious that some of their attitudes towards life and witchcraft were very different.
Mainly the Trix, they argued about them incessantly before Mirta left. Despite their horrible treatment of her, Lucy saw an opportunity in staying in the good graces of the Trix, as there weren’t many career opportunities open to witches at the time, so she thought it would make more sense to conform to the stereotypes. She was tired of fighting just to be recognised as a girl, why add to that plate? Mirta empathised with that to some extent, but she had unwavering faith in that she could do good, and she would do good regardless of what people thought of her magic stream. She decided to start that by passing on what she knows about the Trix’s doing in and out of school to the Winx. They met at the start of the year at the school’s joint ball that very few witch*ers actually showed up to. Flora immediately swept Mirta under her wing and the five girls frequently invited her to hang out. Mirta knew how the Trix have made Bloom’s life hell and wanted to help out to give the girls an upper hand. Until then she had been under the impression that their antagonism was nothing more than bulling, but the Trix pretty openly discussed ripping stuff from Bloom’s chest, so she felt they needed to know and warn teachers. Not Cloud Tower teachers though, them Mirta didn’t trust. She was discovered sneaking out and the Trix cast an advanced spell on her turning her into a pumpkin.
Flora and Miss Faragonda cared for her while she was in that form at least for a few weeks before Faragonda was able to turn her back using her fairy dust. After reporting what she had intended to, which has by then become outdated, Mirta was hesitant to return to Cloud Tower. For one because of the Trix and the bullying, but also because of how she and Lucy had broken off. By that point Mirta had been nursing a giant crush on her friend and their angry parting words to each other broke her heart. While at Alfea she learned more about fey magic from the Winx basically by osmosis. She even had success with a few basic spells that absolutely amazed her. She was never the best student and she had to work so hard to keep up with witchcraft. This in comparison was a piece of cake. Faragonda then sneakily slid her a transfer slip before sending her home to her family in Adquistes. It took some convincing for them to come around to the idea of Mirta being a fairy, but Mirta was allowed a trial period which she aced with stellar notes, much to her parents’ surprise. She became a full time student the next semester, starting fresh with a new leaf.
She fell out of tune with the Winx a little bit after that, as their curriculum diverged greatly and they had each their own social circles to stay involved in. Tough a bit distrustful of her at first, Mirta’s room and classmates turned out to be good sport and she often hung out with them even after graduation. Mirta patched things up with Lucy eventually, both of them overcoming their shame over what had happened. As Mirta continued her work trying to bring the two schools together, their relationship seemed to grow even closer than it had been before and Mirta flirted with the idea of flirting with Lucy, before inevitably chickening out of it every time too afraid to ruin what they had. The year was over before they knew it and Lucy and Mirta went on their first sort of date at the end of the year ball. It was sweet and sapphic and filled Mirta with hope for the future. Then of course Valtor struck and everything went to shit.
When Valtor and the Trix took over Cloud Tower, Mirta was ready to bang down the Winx’s door just as they were coming to her to do the same. Inspecting the castle they of course stumbled into the monsters left for them and the brain-washed Lucy. Mirta was horrified, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t free her from the trance. Lucy herself seemed to resist the pull though and her eyes clear, momentarily looking at Mirta. Later, when the horror was over and Valtor had been defeated, Lucy shared that hearing Mirta’s voice cut through to her and made her fight against Valtor’s control. She felt like she had to come back to Mirta, to see her, to fight for her. There was only so much a girl’s heart could handle and before she knew it, Mirta was kissing Lucy. Lucy broke an incredibly powerful witcher’s spell on her because she loved Mirta so much, how could she not? How could she not love her back? They laughed it out telling each other about all their insecurities and pining, thinking the other didn’t feel the same and decided to go on a lot of dates to make up for that.
In the S6 AU timeline, she is settled in Magics City with Lucy, who is pursuing further magic education at Cloud Tower as a teacher assistant, ready to get her Master Witch exam and become a potions teacher. Mirta is therefore at the front line when Lucy’s voice message comes in telling her that the Trix have returned to Cloud Tower with a strange new witch and something about them being different. More sharp and dangerous. Mirta spends the rest of that story arc trying to free Lucy, then survive in a hostile witch infested Cloud Tower after she becomes trapped in there. (wink a good ending is in sight for her however)
Magic wise she is definitely competent, though not as battle hardened as the Winx. She gained her Enchantix in a very characteristically her situation. During the time of the reawakening of magic on Earth Magics was also experiencing unrest with a lot of people protesting how Magics planned to handle the situation, leaving Earth magic users to their own devices once again. Counterprotesters crashed the scene and escalated the violence, endangering bystanders and protesters alike. Mirta stood her ground way before peace keepers responded and her initiative saved a lot of people, triggering her Enchantix. With emotional illusions she could pacify people for the time being and allowed for vulnerable people to scurry away. Mirta’s powers don’t change someone’s heart like Believix powers do (though after she hears what Believix can do, she becomes keenly interested in it), however it overlays an overpowering layer of what Mirta wants them to feel in the moment. If her concentration fades, so will the feeling. In that way, her power is actually very similar to Darcy’s psychic illusions. Using witchcraft with this aspect always made Mirta feel predatory, offering power bearing items in order to control someone else’s emotions. With fey magic, it is more like she extends what she feels into the mind of other people. All her spells turn out stronger if she herself is feeling the emotion and has an immediate reference to draw on what it feels like to experience it. Unconsciously she sometimes spreads her stress or dread, which took Lucy a while to figure out after they moved together. Now she isn’t as freaked by it and just tuts when she recognises that the jaw-clenching stress isn’t actually her own. Mirta is working on it, she swears! The two of them then cuddle it out, though they always look for excuses to spend the day on the couch, so that doesn’t say a lot. :)
--
I have a lot of love and plans for Mirta, I think this has been going on for a while. All of this is also poured into my S6 AU, which is a “coming soon” kind of project atm.

Congratulations You’re A Father
TimKon, Future, Time Travel, a kid comes from the future, Fluff, Angst, Getting Together, First Kiss.
Summary: Learning that he has a kid in the future isn't too bad, Tim can get his head around that fact. But learning that the kid is half him and half his best friend is pretty mind boggling, especially when they aren't even together.
Enjoy! :D
“Congratulations Tim, you’re a father.”
“You being serious?”
“DNA matches 50%. He is your kid.”
Tim gapes at his older brother trying to comprehend what he’s just been told. The last couple hours have basically been a blur of peculiar events.
Tim and his brothers had been down in the cave, doing their weekly sparring competition, when suddenly a glowing purple portal appears at the edge of the cave grabbing their attention. Before they could do anything about the mysterious portal, a teenager stumbles through it and into the cave.
The portal disappears like it had never been there and the sudden teenager it left behind looks disoriented as he surveys his surroundings. Tim and his brothers had been frozen in confusion at the event, because how did a portal just appear in the Batcave without a single trace, and didn’t immediately react to the teenager.
This teenager was in normal clothes, had dark hair, he had a lean but yet muscular body however the most noticeable thing was how there was a large red patch growing on his t-shirt on his left side. The stranger, seeming unaware of his apparent injury, finally notices them and his gaze lingers. His expression becomes one of confusion when he looks in Tim’s direction.
“Dad?” He had called out and before any of them could yet react, the teenager abruptly collapses on the floor unconscious.
From there it had been a flurry of movements to get this kid patched up and medically seen to as best as they can and work out what he meant by ‘dad’. Alfred patched him up, claiming that it looked like a stab wound and how it needed stitches but wouldn’t cause any permanent damage, after a week or two of rest he’ll be fine.
Once working out that the kid was going to be alright, they kept him sedated and then moved onto working out what he meant by calling Tim ‘dad’. Jason made plenty of jokes about who Tim could have potentially had knocked up. Damian wasn’t interested, claiming he ‘couldn’t care less about there being another Drake in the world’. Dick had been the most sympathetic, he had joined in with one of Jason’s jokes before actually taking the matter at hand seriously, he had been the one who suggested they do a DNA test.
It came back positive.
“Looking at that kid’s age he’s about 16 or 17, meaning Tim you would have been three when you… convinced him. Which is really all kinds of wrong to think about. My guess is that he’s from the future, or another dimension, or like an alternate reality.”
That's where Tim’s thoughts were headed to as well. They happen to be the only options that make sense and the next question is, what one of those options was it? Tim glanced the teenager again and now could actually spot of his own features on the kid, his nose for one. His eye shape (despite them closed at the moment) and the colour of his hair.
However as Tim looks at him, there was something else that felt familiar about him but Tim couldn’t place what it was. He guesses that it’s the other parent's features coming through as well, but he has no idea who it was. It suddenly became an itch he couldn’t scratch and now Tim wants to know who the other parent was, who his future partner would be.
Then again did he want to know? If this teenager was really from the future, did Tim want to spoil that for himself?
He shakes his head, trying to clear those thoughts, time travel and everything linked to it was complicated.
Tim opens his mouth to ask a question but his phone ringing stops him from doing so. He leans over and grabs it from the computer desk, he answers it without looking at the Caller ID.
“Tim, buddy, you going to let me inside any time today? Last time I came through the window you yelled at me for a good 10 minutes and I don’t want a repeat of that.”
Instantly Tim smacks his forehead with his palm. “Shit, Kon, I am so sorry I completely forgot!” He turns away from the phone to where Alfred was already heading for the stairs. “Alfred could you-”
“I’m ahead of you Master Tim, I’ll let Master Conner in and send him down as I head for the kitchen to make us all some snacks.”
“Kon, Alfred will let you in. We’re down in the cave alright.” Tim tells him, he hangs up on his friend before he could get the chance to reply.
From next to him, Dick looks up, “Kon here?”
Tim pinches the bridge of his nose feeling a slight headache coming on, it’s been a hectic few hours. “Yeah, I’m supposed to be going to the farm with him for the weekend. He’s here to pick me up, I had completely forgotten considering everything that’s just happened. Shit.”
Dick blinks at him before shrugging, “You can still go, it may be better if you weren’t here until we can get this all sorted. It stops anything happening to the timeline.”
He considers it for a moment, “Yeah perhaps but…” Tim looks over at the sleeping figure, there was something inside of him making him reluctant to go. This was his kid, from the future or another dimension, but he was his. Did Tim want to pass this opportunity up? He wonders what he’s called, wonders when his birthday was, what about school or interests and hobbies? How similar is he to Tim?
“Tim.”
He sighs, knowing that Dick has a point. “Yeah I know. It’s just… y’know….”
His brother looks at him knowingly but doesn’t comment further. In that moment Kon finally makes his appearance from the stairs as he descends from them.
“I was stood outside for about twenty minutes dude, not cool. I thought you were playing a prank on me or simply testing my patience.” Kon says getting to the bottom of the stairs and starts to walk over.
As he does, he passes the med-bay and sees the sleeping teenager there. His best friend frowns and looks at them, “So when did the Bat adopt another kid? I didn’t know there was another one of you guys.”
Tim rolls his eyes while Dick snorts, “Just be glad he isn’t around to hear you say that.”
Kon simply grins at them when he stops beside Tim. “Is that why you forgot? What happened?”
“Yeah, sorry about forgetting,” Tim apologises to his best friend again. He looks at Kon before glancing at the teenager again, “a couple hours ago-”
He abruptly stops talking as it sinks in who the other parent could be. He flicks his gaze between his so-called kid and his best friend.
It was Kon.
The other parent was Kon.
He could see it now he’s made the connection. The kid’s got Kon’s jaw line from when he was younger, the same lips, cheek bones and his body type seemed to be similar to Kon’s when he first appeared as Superboy from Cadmus. It had to be Kon, surely. Was that why he felt familiar to Tim?
“Tim? You okay?”
Tim ignores Kon and looks at Dick who was watching him with concern, “Can you run the DNA test again but against Kon’s this time?”
Dick blinks at him, his gaze shifts to his friend before turning back to the computer, thankfully not asking questions. His best friend on the other hand didn’t hold back.
“My DNA? Tim what do you mean? Who you running my DNA against and why? What’s going on?”
Tim continues to ignore him as he watches Dick work. Minutes later his brother turns around to them, he looks up at Kon with a serious expression just as he had done to Tim earlier. “Well, congratulations Kon, you’re a father.”
Kon’s jaw drops in shock as he stares at the older man. “What? What do you mean?” He turns to Tim, his expression hardening as he lets out a fake laugh, “Yeah ha-ha, funny joke. Is this is what you’ve been planning? Because it sucks.”
“It’s not a joke Kon,” Tim tells him. “That teenager in the med-bay is potentially from the future or another dimension and he’s – he’s our kid."
Tim couldn’t believe it. Sure it’s fine that he has a kid, he’s thrilled even, because that means he starts his own family, but with Kon of all people? He couldn’t get over that. He’s been harbouring feelings for his best friend for a couple years now but he hasn’t done anything about it in fear of ruining the friendship between them because Kon couldn’t possibly return the feelings back.
But could he be wrong?
Kon stands silent between them, his face currently kaleidoscope of emotions as he digests the information suddenly thrusted at him.
Still sat on the chair Dick looks between them, “You guys obviously have a lot to talk about, this is certainly unexpected but perhaps it would be best if both of you weren’t here. We don’t want to risk any time line mishaps, or paradoxes happening when we can try and prevent them just for safety measures.”
Tim appreciates what Dick was trying to do, but there was a part of him that was still reluctant to go. It seems that Kon was now having the same issue. “But why? If this is our kid then surely we should get the opportunity to get to know him?”
Dick sighs and looks at them both with understanding and with his ever famous patience he tells them, “I understand why you both don’t want to go but think about it this way, you’ll have plenty of time in the future to be with him. It’ll be even better because you’ll get to see him grow. We’ll handle things here okay, you guys go and enjoy the farm. Tell Ma Kent I say hi!”
Tim and Kon both go quiet, they glance at one another before looking away again. In the end, Tim sighs defeated and starts to walk away, “Okay just at least let us know when he goes back, make sure he gets there safely. Come on Kon, there’s not a lot we can do here anyway, he’s sedated for the time being.”
After some hesitation his best friend follows him, but not without looking in the direction of the teenager first. Tim leads them up the stairs and to his room where a bag was already packed and ready to go. His original plan was to finish sparring with his brothers early so he could get ready for when Kon arrived, obviously that had gone out the window with the turn of unexpected events.
Tim changes out of his gym clothes and into his normal clothes. Once he was ready they head out to the back of the Manor where Kon proceeds to pick him up and together they head over to the farm.
The flight to the farm was awkward and tense as neither of them speak. Both of them lost in their own thoughts about occurred in the cave.
When they finally get to the farm they were greeted with a warm, freshly baked apple pie from Ma Kent. They both accepted the treat with a small gratitude but other than that kept quiet. Ma instantly picked up on the tension between them but thankfully didn’t comment, all she said was that the guest room was all prepared for Tim when he was ready to settle.
They eat in silence and once they were done Kon disappears, claiming he needed to do some chores he happened to forget before coming to pick Tim up. Tim knew the truth though, his friend was going for a long flight in hopes to clear his head, he didn’t blame him. While Conner was gone Tim sets himself up in the guest room, he settles in and gets some work done on his laptop he had brought with him.
When evening came around Kon still hadn’t returned. Tim ate dinner with the Kent’s, making small conversation between them before retreating for the night.
Later on Tim makes his way onto the top of the barn, he was watching the stars in the clear night sky as they dazzled brightly. The sky was always such a contrast in Kanas to Gotham, it was so clear and the air was always so fresh.
It’s about 15 minutes later when Kon appears again. He flies over to Tim on the barn and sits down beside him. They sit in silence for a good while, seeming to be unable to start up a conversation between them.
Kon’s the one to eventually start it, “So… we have a kid in the future.”
“Yeah.”
“That’s cool. Great even…”
Tim sighs and runs a hand through his hair, “Look Kon, I get that it’s weird, it’s completely unexpected, but…”
But what? How was Tim supposed to continue this incredibly awkward and forced conversation between them?
“I like you.” Kon blurts out from nowhere. Tim snaps his gaze to his best friend, both unsure and hopeful at the same time. “I like you Tim, in a way that means more than a friend. Finding out that we have a kid was great. Obviously shocking but its great. I’ve always wanted a family, yeah I found brothers between you and Bart back in Young Justice and then of course the girls joined and we all became a family. But it means a lot more in a way I can’t describe.”
“I like you too.” Tim says without thinking. “I have done for a long time, but I was so scared of ever saying anything because I didn’t think the feelings would be returned. I didn’t want to risk our friendship.”
Kon huffs out a laugh, “We’re a pair of idiots aren’t we?”
Unable to stop himself, Tim grins, “Yeah…”
They go silent for a beat or two, still not moving or doing anything with one another. The tension and awkwardness was still there but not as prominent as before.
“I wonder how we got him.” Tim comments looking up at the sky. “Did we use a surrogate? Maybe cloned him? He’s got our DNA so we didn’t adopt. “
Then for a horrific moment Tim thinks back to the time he had countlessly tried to clone Kon when he died. His heart drops at the thought, was he successful in the end? What if that kid in the med-bay was a clone Tim created out of desperation for his best friend?
A hand cupping his face and turning back to face Kon startles him from his thoughts. Seeing the way Kon’s piercing blue eyes gleam in the night make him forget about that awful time that happened so many years ago.
“Does it matter? We have a kid Tim. One of which is half you and half me. Which brings up the question how did he get injured in the first place if he has Kryptonian genes but that's a worry we’ll have in the future. But for now think we need to actually get together before we start anything kid related at all don’t you think?”
He was grinning at Tim and Tim smiles back, placing his hand above Kon’s holding his face. He licks his lips, “That may be a good start.”
No more words were spoken as they both lean in close, pressing their lips together for the first time. As they kiss Tim feels all of the tension that had built up drain out of him, he wraps his arms around Kon in a loose embrace and smiles against the Kryptonian’s lips as he feels arms wrap around his waist, bringing them closer together.
Then like that all of the awkwardness and tension bleeds out from the air around them, leaving them comfortably in peace and for the seeable future. They’ll tackle everything together as they always have done in the past, in the current present and now in the future.

Alternative timeline (Noah x reader) Netflix Dark
Requested by: anon
Request: Noah where the reader knows about time travel and they keep meeting in different eras, eventually falling in love
Warnings: none really
A/n: I was excited to do this one and it kinda is like doctor who
You grew up knowing about time travel. Your parents would tell you stories about all the different ways to travel, but believing such a thing like time travel already existing or that it was real made other kids dislike you growing up. It wasn’t until you were thirteen when you’re parents finally let you time travel, with them of course. When you turned sixteen however you decided you wanted to do more time travel on your own. Time travel had its advantages like seeing Noah, the two of you always found each other in whatever time you were. You remembered the first time you met.
The year: 1921.
According to the newspaper on the stand as you walked into the town. This was your first time jump on your own and it was strange but cool. You wished you could’ve just showed the kids at school that your weren’t making time travel up, but it didn’t matter you weren’t going back not anytime soon. You walked around the town looking at the buildings all while getting strange looks from the people, more likely because of your clothes. Ignoring the stares you finally found a place to eat, one of the slight side affects your parents had warned you about, hunger. You walked into what appeared to be an inn there was a woman behind a counter and a little girl sweeping. You asked her about getting some food, in which she replied she would get you some. You sat on one of the benches waiting for her to bring some food out. That’s when you saw him, a boy about your age and cute walking towards you. He noticed you but his main focus was telling the woman ‘bye’ and left.
After eating you thanked the woman and tried to pay for your food which she didn’t really except. You left the building and walk around more until you found a church in the process of being built. Thats when you saw the boy again, he was leaving the church with an older guy. You spent the rest of your time exploring.
Year: 1953
You never time traveled back to back so after your visit to 1921 you waited a few days to a month to travel. The next time you came to was 1953, it brought you to the same town but had grown since the last year you visited. It was when you were walking into a store you noticed a somewhat familiar face, the boy from 1921 he was older now, much older than you in fact. This time when he noticed you he froze, realizing you too knew how to time travel and had obviously not changed since he last saw you. Unlike last time he came up to you, “have we met before?” he asked trying make it stemlike he didn’t remember you. “I do’t believe so, I’m (Y/n).” you introduced yourself hoping to finally get the name of this other traveler. “Noah.” he replied shaking you hand. “Nice to meet you.” you stated. During your time in 1953 you saw Noah two more times, once when you went to the church and another when leaving a store in town.
~~
You traveled two more times once to the 80s and to 2003 before taking a break with travel. You parents had warned if you that if you did not stop traveling it would cause problems down the road. You saw Noah in both 1980 and 2003, he was young once more in 1980 and the two of you spent more time together. Realizing that you had things in common and you both kept running into each other. In 2003 you saw older Noah once more and in his free time the two of you met and he told you how he was traveling to keep a time line going.
Year 2021:
Your fifth time travel took you into the future, where you saw what life would become in years to come. It was a dark future that you learned you would not survive along with many others. You once more explored through what was to become of the town you had already seen grow and lived in. That when you saw him once more still your age, your heart raced at the sight of him. No matter how he was when you saw him older or young you were always happy to see him.
You both had grown feelings for one another and though Noah knew his was to keep to his timeline and not suppose to be with you he wanted to forget that. You had no timeline to keep and from what older Noah had told you before, you were an alternative timeline that could ruin the past and future. You knew time travel could be tricky but not so much to cause a alternative future.
“This can’t be the future.” You said to him as the two of you sat in front of what was left of the church.
“It what had to happen this will influence the past and keep the cycle going.” He replied his voice steady.
“It is wrong that you have to play a part like this to be set with one certain person to continue the loop then travel more to add to loop. I mean what if you wanted to do something different or be with someone else?” You asked more so complaining.
“How do we know what is right and what is wrong?” He asked looking at you.
“Well…You kind of just know, like you get this gut feeling telling you which is which.” You tried to explain looking back at him.
“Like how it feels wrong being with someone else when I know I do not love them?” He asked looking at his hands.
“Yea. Its wrong to be with someone when you love some else, if it’s in a romantic way.” You answered in a low voice. You loved him and yet from talking to older him you knew he would grow to have a family with a girl he would have met in 2020.
“Then I will do what is right, I will be with the person I love.” he stated with confidence in his voice. This was new to you, the Noah beside you never had such confidence in his voice.
“That’s good, Noah, you should go tell them.” You replied smiling weakly causing him to place his hand on yours.
“You, (Y/n), I want to be with you. I love you.” The moment the words left his mouth your head popped up in disbelief.
All the times with older Noah, hearing about you time traveling and ruining the past and future you never thought it would be because his feelings toward you. Yet here you were about to say the words that would change the world.
“I want to be with you too Noah.” You smiled feeling for the first time in awhile you were happy. “I love you too.”

Thoughts on Steven Universe Future 3-13-2020
Together Forever: This episode was a lot less about Steven and Connie, and more about just Steven than expected.
Connie has some plans for college, but we don’t quite get to know what her career goals are exactly. She’s planning on getting into politics, but I’m not sure at what level or what branch. Not that that matters to the episode too much or anything. The University of Jayhawk is all the across the country from Delmarva. This is a distance that Steven cannot emotionally handle right now. Upon this realization, he sinks down into his bed, part of his “floating” powers.
It is good to see that he and Connie keep in touch at least over video calls. On a slightly more concerning note, Steven has memorized Connie’s schedule down to the minute.
Garnet says at the end of the episode, that there was no future in which Steven wouldn’t propose to Connie. I’m guessing had he talked to Garnet instead, he would have proposed to her out of spite or in an effort to prove Garnet wrong.
Instead of Garnet, we do get Ruby and Sapphire this episode. Steven doesn’t seem too surprised by their appearance in this episode, so I imagine that they have been teaching these classes for a while. Ruby is doing some kind of nature scout class, did she make those badges herself, or are they part of a nationally recognized scout organization? Either way she’s teaching some gems and Onion about the beauty of nature. Steven tells her about how Connie seems to really have her life together and knows what she is doing.
I can see a parallel here with Ruby and Sapphire, and Steven and Connie. In this particular case, Steven is Ruby. He doesn’t have the foresight that Connie does right now. He, in a way, lacks future vision.
Ruby, either lacking the knowledge of what might be socially acceptable or being too excited about prospect of Steven expressing his love, tells Steven that he should propose to her. Ruby’s logic here is that it worked for her. She ignores the fact that she and Sapphire had been together for over 5000 years and that they are adults.
Steven visits Sapphire as well, she is teaching a class on alternate timelines. I wonder what that entails exactly. I suppose that they do all of those equations that she explained to Steven, but with the understanding that the future still isn’t as predictable as one might think. She also encourages Steven to propose to Connie despite the fact that she is aware of the sociological implications of this, but she’s a hopeless romantic about it anyways.
Steven declare to the gems, that this will be his last day as Steven Cutie-Pie Demayo Diamond Quartz Universe. Interesting that that interaction with Garnet from almost 4 years ago left that impression on him. That is the same day that he learned about future vision, so I suppose that just stuck in his mind. Also, was he planning to take Connie’s last name or add Maheswaran to his plethora of middle names (that he thinks belongs on official documents for some reason).
He makes his plan. He gets jam, glow sticks and cake. On top of the world, he dresses his best and asks her out from outside her window. He says they’ll be back in 15 minutes (this reminds of an episode of How I Met Your Mother, but the season and name escape me).
At the beach, in the same place they first met, Steven has a picnic set up. Had this just be a romantic gesture or a proposal to date, not marriage, things probably would have gone a lot better for him. Connie responds well to all this. She has been shown to have romantic feelings for Steven in the past, she attempted to kiss him in An Indirect Kiss and she successfully kissed him on the cheek in the movie. Steven sings his song with the sentiment of “I want to be me with you”. The lyrics of which, like many love songs in my opinion, have a codependent quality to them. Steven doesn’t know his future, so he wants someone else to be his future, to be someone else.
Connie, very sensibly, says no. They are young, have never discussed this, and I’m pretty sure they aren’t even an item. She also tells him, “It’s a not now” because there is plenty of time. Steven is in his unending quest for stability, and he still hasn’t found it. Throughout this conversation Connie and Steven occupy opposite spaces on screen. They are in different places in their lives right now, sure and unsure, stable and unstable.
I think if Steven were around more teens his age, he might not be feeling this way, so much at least. He would realize how many people don’t have their lives figured out at this age. Many people his age just want to graduate high school. He really needs to talk to Greg about this. Greg wanted to be a musician, but he was also a community college drop out. He didn’t have everything figured out. (I’m pretty sure this will be part of next week’s episodes in some way)
Connie is willing to stick around when her alarm goes off. Steven tells her to go, probably because he doesn’t want to burden her and because he won’t be holding it together for long. As soon as she leaves, he lies back and creates a crater. The shockwaves ruining the picnic. He lies there until dark.
When he gets up, Garnet is there. She explains to him the inevitability of this situation. She tells him that the hole he is trying to fill won’t be filled by Connie or Stevonnie. Connie is not his “missing piece”. In this scene, Garnet is towering and Steven feels almost as small as his younger self. I think this accentuates how young and foolish Steven was this episode. He holds a frustrated look during this conversation. He says he blames Garnet for making this all look so easy. Reminds me of Cry for Help/Friendship. Pearl had felt the same way about Ruby and Sapphire/Garnet. Steven and Pearl craved that perceived perfection.
Steven then eats his feelings.
Growing Pains: I was wrong in my prediction that Steven would either be stuck in pink mode or have a human ailment.
The episode opens with a scene from the newest instalment of dogcopter. In the movie, Dogcopter proposes to a dog named Drew. Steven laments the fact that “everyone else is getting married”. He continues to eat his feelings like at the ending of last episode, and then his body starts getting out of control. He keeps growing sporadically. He mostly ignores it because it doesn’t hurt him physically.
He wants to reach out to someone who isn’t Connie right now. He can’t reach the gems, so he calls Greg, who is on tour with Sadie and Shep right now. Greg is having a great time, and Steven won’t rain on that parade, even when Greg offers to call him back. He almost wants to call Connie, but she calls him instead. His shapeshifting forces him to answer her call.
He can no longer hide what’s going on with him, since it is manifesting physically. Connie suggests that he should see a doctor. He doesn’t want to bother anyone even when he is physically unwell. He even describes it as a waste of time. Connie persuades him.
Steven pays Doctor Maheswaran a visit, Connie escorts him in. As soon as Connie leaves the room for them to conduct tests, she calls Greg.
This episode really explores how both human and gem Steven really is. He has a human body and it is effected like a human body is. But he is also a gem, it makes his body react unusually and if he’s fractured skeleton is any indication, it is keeping him alive.
Dr. Maheswaran finds out about Steven’s physical traumas through his x-ray. She asks him if he had any particularly traumatic experiences. Steven basically recalls the entire show. Dr. Maheswaran goes on to describe the physical aspects of trauma and the way the body reacts in a way I don’t think I’ve ever seen in any piece of fictional media. Steven’s body is trying to protect him from danger that isn’t there anymore. Minor stress to him is now the equivalent to major stress. To make things worse, he feels as though his support system is gone.
When he thinks back to the proposal, things go haywire. As his body continues to grow in size, he takes up more and more of the room. He is almost too big to fit. There is nowhere left for him to hide. He yells “I can’t be around you right now” much in the way he yelled “I just want to fix it” back in Volleyball. His yell shatters the windows.
Greg finally arrives, revealing that Connie had called him. Connie still very much cares about Steven. He explains to Greg that everything feels like the end of the world to him now.
Receiving understanding and support from Greg is what gets Steven to go back to his normal size. At home he continues to explain his fears and worries. All of which, as Greg explains, are normal. Steven now knows what his problem is, or at least one aspect of it, but I don’t think his problems are solved just yet. From the way he “swells up” in response to stress in this episode, I think something big is about to happen in the show. Something so big, that for his body to protect him from it, he will grow into the giant monster from the opening theme song.
Predictions for next week:
Discussion of leaks ahead
Mr. Universe: Still no episode description for this one, but I imagine this is where Steven crashes the van. Steven is still not in a great place right now, and while he seems more willing to talk about things, his body is still reacting in a way that is unsafe for him and others. I believe that this will lead to the van crashing. As others have pointed out, this episode may involve Pearl because she played a big part in the episode Mr. Greg. I still somehow think this episode will be the story of how Rose decided to have Steven, if not it will be about how Greg made the decision to drop out of college and take on the rockstar persona Mr. Universe.
Fragments: This is where that first leak came from, the “leave me alone I need space one”. I’m still not 100% sure what “fragments” is in reference to. Others I have discussed with have suggested memories. I am not entirely sure the direction of this.

memory loss ficlist
sup i have loved memory loss stories since i was a wee child and now that ao3 exists i can just read them all day instead of doing work anyway here’s some of my favorites (list definitely subject to change)
s*pernatural
no place to go (4685 words) by peterspajamas
Summary:
It's Tuesday. Again.
Sam watches his world fall apart, into a pattern that only Castiel can break. But Castiel doesn't remember.
Sam prays for help after his brother is stuck in a time loop after Jack becomes God. There are two important things about the angel that arrives to help them: 1. It's Castiel 2. He doesn't remember a thing
my thots
mostly a tuesday time-loop type fic (sam!), but there is definitely some memory loss going on (cas!)
Gone (51108 words) by reading (reposted from ff.net)
Summary:
Dean thinks Sam is dead. Sam has amnesia.
So, this is set pre-deal, sometime in season 2. Strangers and Angels 'verse.
my notes
this fic is legendary. so good in every way. hurt-comfort, memory loss (sam!), angst both before and after memories are regained...hits all my buttons.
When Memory Fails (3646 words) by palpablenotion
Summary:
He's in a hotel room with fake IDs, fake (or stolen) credit cards, guns and knives, lighter fluid and a lighter that's been in a fire hot enough to scorch metal, and he doesn't know who he is.
my thoughts
actually found this fic when looking for some other fics for this list...turned out really good. dean's memory gets roblox oofed and the situation gets cleaned up in a short, sweet, and funny way.
Yellow highway lines (28292 words) by livinginthequestion
Summary:
Weeks had gone by since Michael reneged on his pledge and took possession of Dean permanently; since he’d begun waging his war against humanity and the earth, killing without remorse or restriction; since Dean had, through sheer strength of will, slammed the door on the archangel in his mind. He was still holding that door shut, but growing ever more desperate, to the point that he seriously considered the Ma’lak Box as the only solution available to him.
What if Cas did some research - and came up with an alternative to the Ma’lak Box, a ritual to eject Michael from Dean’s mind? Spellwork so powerful it ripped the archangel loose with the force of a heavenly cataclysm, destroying him in the process - and leaving behind terrible consequences for Dean?
Follow Cas and Sam's desperate cross-country search for Dean, and Dean's journey to find himself, his memories - and maybe find out what he really wants.
my thoughts
goodness me is this one really good. it kinda parallels Gone in that whole "winchester brother makes new life using his skills without his memory" vibe but this plays out a bit differently. this fic. i just want to bathe in it like a jacuzzi.

How Could I Forget You? (3013 words) by inkinmyheartandonthepage
Summary:
Tony knows that this kid is important somehow, knows deep in his heart that the kid is special. He just can’t remember who he is.
my thoughts
tony loses his memory from some good ol' head trauma. irondad and spiderson angst ensues. memory is not restored by the end (but it is implied that tony's memory will return a few days after the fic is set.)
Take Control (13966 words) by theunremarkable
Summary:
You are No One
I am Bucky. I know this You are Bucky He knows this
~
But Bucky does not know, that it has been a year. He does not know that it has been a year of the same conversation. He does not know that it has been a year of the same tears from Peggy. He does not know that when he sleeps, he forgets. Bucky does not know that when he wakes, he will again be No One.
my thoughts
one of those great fics that toes the line between poetry and prose. also a songfic ("take control" by kodaline), and the song is really darn good. keep in mind this is part 2 of a series that canon diverges so the timeline is a bit wonky.
Act of Sage (64315 words) by hotelmichelle
Summary:
After the Battle of New York, Steve finds a strange note in his apartment. It’s his handwriting, but he sure as hell would’ve remembered writing this.
my thoughts
this post-endgame-2012-timeline stucky fix-it is a textbook example of what happens when a fic starts out not as strong, but finds its voice and approaches its issues uniquely. the beginning isn't really my taste buuuuut at a certain point the fic definitely takes its own unique spin on things. and it's. so good. there's an oc who's a trauma therapist who works with an amnesiac/traumatized bucky barnes. she's just. the greatest, most intelligent, awesomest, most badass human being. also there's a lot of law terminology for bucky's legal trial. (i think the author was in law school while writing this?)
trials and tribulations of the universes saviour (34287 words) by imeanthatsprettysnazzy
Summary:
The thoughts kept racing through his head, them helping block out the continued, strangled begging coming from Mister Stark, along with the pain, as he stared Thanos right in the eyes.
“And I..” He spoke loudly, though he could still barely hear himself. “Don’t... Care...”
Peter brought his fingers together, and snapped.
OR
An alternate version of Endgame where Peter snaps (but survives).
This is a continuation of The Brother She Wished That She Knew, but it can be read alone if you want :)
(Used to be called When Fate Turns In A Different Direction but that was even cornier than this so I changed it)
my thoughts
the memory loss is like 1 chapter of this but it's really well-executed (and also i'm trying to list as many mcu fics as spn fics and it's surprisingly hard. MUST I REITERATE I HAVENT WATCHED 1 EP OF SPN jaklsdfjflk). what it says on the tin, also part of a series featuring a lot of peter's mom may parker. humor, angst, whump, a badass prosthesis and an awesome found family — this fic has everything you could ever want and more.
Bonus non-MCU marvel fic: If It Comes Back (10823 words) by flightinflame
Summary:
Logan turns his back on the school, setting out as a lone wolf. Until he meets a young man in need of help - a young man who looks painfully familiar.
my thoughts
if you want to leave the "mystery person" a surprise you should probably skip the tags (and the rest of this summary.) basically it's post x3, logan is sad, and picks up a mystery hitchhiker. it's the first (and as of now, only) scogan fic i've ever read and definitely a great introduction to the ship. also Person X and logan both get a liberal dollop of angst (hooray!)

Hello! Can i request for a Dipper pines x Male reader x reverse Dipper? Maybe like how The reader is Friends with both of them and knows about their yandere tendencies but really just waits until they make their move. Maybe some cute plan making on how to win his heart? Maybe the reader likes to tease them endlessly until they just pass out from blushing? Please and thank you!
oo sure!! Hopefully this is somewhat what you had in mind isdnkj
(to make things a little easier to read, I’m going to call R!Dipper “Mason” in this)
(also after writing this, I kinda want to make it a permanent AU...)
Yandere!Dipper Pines x Male Reader X Yandere!R!Dipper
[preface] When Bill tries to destroy Gravity Falls the first time, he opens an Alternate Timeline. Fortunately, Gravity Falls was the only thing affected. Now in the aftermath, this little town has to come to terms with how their roles have shifted...
You smirked at the two boys across the yard, chest fluttering with anticipation. While, sure, you didn’t mean for this to happen. Or maybe you did. Though, really at this point, it didn’t matter who done it. The pieces had fallen and landed with you smack dead in the middle. All you knew was that you’d enjoy this. ‘A lot more than I probably should’, you thought. Stifling a laugh, you walk slower and discreetly stare at Dipper and Mason’s growing aggression towards each other.
They, in all honesty, looked like they were about to kill each other. At least, that’s what you wanted to see along with how it looked from where you were.
Dipper had met, ‘the other dipper’ or ‘Gideon Dipper’ not long after coming back from his school year.
though they ended up giving the other set of twins the oh so adoring nickname of the “magic twins” after Mabel refused to insult the new Gideon and Pacifica by calling the twins Gideon Dipper and Pacifica Mabel.
The new Magic Twins becoming Mason and Bell, though she gets called ‘other Mabel’ and ‘Mabel #2′ enough to mention it here.
Right off the back Dipper and Mason hated each other
At least, that’s what you’d heard from Wendy, among all the other news she had to tell the moment you stepped back on Gravity Falls soil.
You stayed inside long enough to not meet either new set of twins for a year or so, not having your own counterpart helped with that
You finally met “Mason” after getting lost from your twins at some carnival,
and god was it was way too hot to be chasing down your friend’s shadows. You couldn’t say you were surprised, Mabel was still the energetic puppy she had been the first time you met her. It wouldn’t be long until someone (’probably dipper’, you thought) realized you were missing. So you took your time looking for shade and maybe something cold to eat or drink.
It was super hot, and you were starting to get super tired. All of that being said, you still weren’t sure how you mistook Mason (in his “magic show” uniform even) for Dipper.
Needless to say, “Mason” didn’t look thrilled when you said something along the lines of “Oh ew” and walked away the moment you realized he wasn’t who you thought he was.
On top of being a new face, there hadn’t been too many people with your reaction to meeting him (coughcough especially to his face coughcough)
That was the reason he was interested!
NOno... no. no other... reason... haha... ha.
He was a little more than angry and jealous after finding out your friendship circle included the OTHER twins
Mabel#2 wasn’t much help, constantly jabbing at him for his “crush” on some nobody guy
So he does what anyone would do in that kind of situation!
He goes out of his way to bully you and then expects you to be into him!
Perfect Plan!
Truly “Mason” really is the local heartbreaker, hide your husbands and boyfriends!
Dipper is very pissed, but somewhat thankful since “Mason”’s unnecessary cruelty towards you helped him realize his own feelings towards you
Dipper’s still pissed about it though
And BOOM rivalry
Now of course, even if you were pretty oblivious to emotions
It wouldn’t be hard to understand Mabel telling you about Dipper’s crush as soon as she heard about it, or trying to get the two of you together
Mabel#2 would endlessly torment both you and him for it
A fun game to play would to see how long you can flirt with one before the other either jumps in or attempts to drag either you or his rival away
Who’s to have the edge in the fight is anyone’s guess
“Mason”, with his control of magic as well as the same intelligence as Dipper, would be a force to be reckoned with
However, Dipper would most likely have the higher ground, with his journal and any journal his new friends (Pacifica and Gideon) happen to have.
Dipper has more people to fall back on, whereas the one person I can really see “Mason” falling back to would be his sister and perhaps his Uncle
Though, who’s to say he can count on them in the same no payback needed way Dipper has with his support group
The deciding factor I see would be if “Mason” plays the “this is who I really am feel bad for me” card
While, yes, you’re more likely to feel more at home with Dipper and everyone on his side, “Mason” has the misunderstood kid with a tragic backstory gig going for him
If he pretends, or really does, decide to open up and show his “true” colors, that’ll bring in the need to defend him, since, no one else really understands him other than you
and since other people don’t really know him, how can they really say anything bad about him?
You’ll doubt the bad things people tell you he’s done, or wave it off as him continuing to hide behind some mask he’s put up
If “Mason” can get you away from everyone, without anyone knowing anything, then he’ll probably get away with it
Afterall, Dipper and gang may be determined, but they aren’t cops
They can’t prove anything against “Mason” without looking suspicious themselves, and depending on “Mason” they could very well be no way of finding you

What's the CoN timeline??
I’m going to try to clear this up and work out the kinks so bear with me.
The Clash of Noir timeline is as follows:
This AU starts out in the plot of the 2D Miraculous Ladybug where Felix Agreste is the Black Cat. For Felix, the ring is cursed and he can’t remove it. So he’s stuck with bad luck and forced to become Chat Noir, but he hates it and needs a kiss from Ladybug in order to break this curse. He only works with Ladybug and attempts to woo her in order to get her to kiss him.
Ladybug eventually finds out this little secret of Chat Noir’s and is heartbroken because she at least thought they were partners. Figuring it would hurt less if she just let him go, she kisses him and breaks his curse, revealing him to be Felix (AKA, the boy she was crazy in love with). Felix immediately abandons his position of Chat Noir and Ladybug is forced to fight alone from then on.
Eventually, the akumas get to be too much for her to handle alone and in an assault on the school, Ladybug is killed in an attempt to protect Felix, revealing herself as Marinette and dying in Felix’s arms. Horrified, Felix attempts to use the Black Cat and Ladybug Miraculous to fix things.
A new timeline is created.
Felix wakes up in the past before he ever got his ring, but discovers he doesn’t exist and that instead there’s another boy named Adrien Agreste living his life. Felix takes this as a second chance and is intent on protecting Marinette and preventing that bad future from happening again.
Felix doesn’t trust any version of himself and is worried Adrien will take his place and repeat the events from the bad future. He still has some form of his “bad luck” powers and decides to determine his own successor to the Ring.
He realizes Hawk Moth is bound to attack soon and attempts to regain the Ring and keep Marinette away from Adrien. He fails in both.
Cue events from Stoneheart’s attack. Adrien gets the Ring and becomes Chat. And Marinette still ends up falling in love with Adrien.
Felix continues to attempt to push Marinette away from Adrien. This doesn’t work as he intends. Marinette continues to harbor feelings for Adrien, but Felix at least ends up causing her to temper them so they’re not as debilitating as what we see in the 3D canon.
Felix also keeps an eye on Adrien to judge whether he should be allowed to continue as Chat Noir. His juvenile antics and tendency to needlessly take hits and get himself in trouble are of great concern. In the meantime, Felix has left an impression on Adrien. And over time, hearing some of Felix’s opinions about Chat Noir’s behavior causes Adrien to temper himself and take fighting more seriously.
While watching Adrien, Felix is also searching for an appropriate replacement to be the new Chat Noir. Nathaniel? No, he doesn’t quite fit. Alya? Too much trouble. Luka? Certainly an option. Kagami? She has the fighting spirit for it.
Felix fails to realize that he’s having an impact on people or akuma fights. He continues to intervene behind the scenes in several akuma battles in an attempt to protect Ladybug, but is having trouble due to being a normal civilian.
Fu notices this intruder and his strange dark aura. He realizes that Felix does not “belong” and chooses to keep an eye on him.
Princess Fragrance — Felix steps in to assist in aiding Prince Ali while Marinette is trying to get Tikki healed. Because of Felix’s interference, Prince Ali is able to avoid being caught. Chat Noir still gets hit with the perfume and becomes Princess Fragrance’s servant. He attempts to capture the two, but Felix manages to take him down and knock him out. Felix takes the Ring and traps Adrien in a closet. This allows a short reunion between Felix and Plagg—who reveals he remembers everything about the previous timeline. Felix transforms to become Chat again (temporarily) in order to help keep Princess Fragrance at bay. When Ladybug arrives, she KNOWS this isn’t her Chat Noir, but he’s all the help she has at this point so she is forced to work with him. She is surprised that his powers are very different—bad luck instead of pure destruction. They still manage to take out Princess Fragrance and end the battle. Felix does not reveal himself. He doesn’t have the time or inclination to explain things to Ladybug at this point and assures her that the previous Chat Noir will remain the Black Cat (for now). He goes back to where he left Adrien and returns the Ring, but warns Adrien that he will be watching him.
OPTIONAL (This was thought up before the reveal about the Peacock Miraculous being damaged): Felix eventually realizes he cannot continue as he is. At some point, possibly during Bubbler or Simon Says, Volpina (after Adrien sneaks in and takes the book), or alternatively on a completely different occasion altogether, he manages to sneak into the office and get the Peacock Miraculous from the safe. He replaces it with a fake.
OPTIONAL: Volpina happens differently. Tikki still notices and stresses about the book. Marinette is angry over Lila’s lies. It’s not even because she’s jealous over Adrien—she is just outright FURIOUS that Lila is lying about her and trying to manipulate Adrien based on that. She goes to confront her during her little “date” with Adrien in the park. Felix interferes and stops her. Something is wrong. Marinette wasn’t like this before. In the previous timeline when it came to Volpina, she had privately confronted Lila kindly but sternly about her lies to warn her of the danger she was putting herself in, NOT just go up to Lila and try to out her in public. That’s…not how Marinette is. But when Ladybug expresses being upset due to Lila lying, Felix is horrified. Marinette was never this reactive about lies before—it’s an echo of the previous timeline and a remainder of the impact HE had on her because of his betrayal. Because he LIED to her before. He’s horrified because even removing himself from existence couldn’t erase the harm he caused her. He encourages her to focus on getting the book and swears to deal with Lila himself. Ladybug is uncertain, but is calmer now (albeit mostly out of confusion) and agrees. Felix is the one to confront Lila in front of Adrien and call her out. Ladybug takes this opportunity to search the trashcan and take the book. She may or may not be seen, but regardless Felix is able to disprove Lila’s claim. Lila storms off, gets akumatized, and naturally targets Felix.
Felix uses the opportunity that Lila and her lies present to try to convince Marinette that Adrien really isn’t that wonderful or amazing as she thinks if he’s stupid enough to blindly trust Lila’s words. Marinette is left questioning. She retains her crush on Adrien, but there are doubts there.
After Volpina, Felix calls out Chat Noir on not trusting his partner. Instead of accusing her of being jealous, he should have taken her suspicions into account. He makes a point to highlight how unlikely it was that a meteor would just appear out of nowhere to nearly destroy the city when none of the space-monitoring agencies were aware. Of how convenient this happened JUST IN TIME for a new hero to appear. How this new hero’s first words—the VERY FIRST thing she said was that she was the ONLY HERO Paris needs. Of why on Earth the super villain who had been hiding in the shadows and turning people into monsters would suddenly make an appearance with no reason. Of how Chat COULDN’T put two and two together that the angry girl who had just been outed as a fake in front of him was very likely turned into an akuma because of it so she could parade as a hero to make her lies true. Come ON!
Chat/Adrien is defensive about this, but can’t deny the point made. He makes more of an effort to be more supportive of Ladybug. While he still questions her at points, he doesn’t dismiss her out of hand like that again.
Collector — Felix is the one to return the book to Gabriel. There is…a tension there. Gabriel doesn’t know what to think of it and doesn’t understand why he seems to recognize this boy when he has never met him. Felix merely returns the book and leaves. He doesn’t know Gabriel is Hawk Moth, but his father was never much of a father to him. And his having the book and Peacock Miraculous is still suspicious.
Fu decides to have a chat with this stranger. Either he approaches Felix or Felix has finally tracked him down—if it’s the latter, it will be because Fu LET Felix find him…
Felix is encouraged to reveal the truth about the original timeline and what happened. He explains his history—that he was Chat Noir, that he was cursed when he found Plagg, and how he only agreed to help the city in order to find a way to save himself. He reveals how Ladybug discovered his secret and kissed him just to put an end to the charade. And he goes on to tell the tragedy of how it killed her in the end.
He gritted his teeth at the memory.
“Ladybug fell. And the world followed.”
The man hummed to himself, processing that information with what Felix felt was nowhere near the appropriate level of concern. “And what of Chat Noir?”
He tensed. Because wasn’t that just what it all came back to?
“He…”
He thought back to her final broken smile, his own selfishness, and a kiss that both fixed and destroyed everything.
“He wasn’t there.“
“Pathetic, isn’t it?”
“I wasn’t there.”
Fu is…not happy to hear about what happened in the original timeline.
Fu ends up acting as a sort of mentor and advisor to Felix. He understands Felix’s concern, but doesn’t believe Felix understands why he made the choice he did when picking Adrien. He asks Felix to let him judge whether Adrien remains a suitable choice of being Chat Noir before taking away the Ring.
Felix is hesitant, but agrees.
Ultimately, the end result of this AU isn’t that Adrien loses the right to be Chat (though that’s not to say there aren’t branches where he could if he messes up badly enough), but that he grows into a better Chat Noir precisely BECAUSE Felix was there.
Think of the second Lego Movie and what Rex says at the end:
“It’s okay. I’m proud of you. You’re going to grow up to be better than me. But…kind of thanks to me, so I’m also great.”

15 Books I Want To Read That are Releasing in the Next 6 Monthes
Every six monthes, I am excited to see the new LGBTQA+ YA books of the next monthes and while thos December, I was a little weirded out to not find them on B&N Teen previews, I was happy to see that Dahlia Adler posted her lists and opinions at lgbtqreads.com. So, of course I went through and narrowed the list from 72 to 34 to 15, only choosing books that I felt I really wanted to read and not just fall for all the amazing synopses and covers, which let's be honest, are all truly masterpieces.
But enough introduction. Let's get into my to be bought (and read) list of the first six monthes of 2020:

We Used to Be Friends by Amy Spalding - JANUARY 7TH
Goodreads Synopsis: Told in dual timelines—half of the chapters moving forward in time and half moving backward—We Used to Be Friends explores the most traumatic breakup of all: that of childhood besties. At the start of their senior year in high school, James (a girl with a boy’s name) and Kat are inseparable, but by graduation, they’re no longer friends. James prepares to head off to college as she reflects on the dissolution of her friendship with Kat while, in alternating chapters, Kat thinks about being newly in love with her first girlfriend and having a future that feels wide open. Over the course of senior year, Kat wants nothing more than James to continue to be her steady rock, as James worries that everything she believes about love and her future is a lie when her high-school sweetheart parents announce they’re getting a divorce. Funny, honest, and full of heart, We Used to Be Friends tells of the pains of growing up and growing apart.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Relationship breakups may be heavily covered in YA, but friendship breakup stories are still few and far between. Enter the story of James and Kat, two girls who were once beyond close and now watch their friendship unravel as college nears. Things are complicated for both girls: James’s mother has left her and her father for another guy, and she doesn’t know how to talk about it, not even to Kat or her still-too-present ex, Logan. Kat’s discovering that her feelings for her new friend Quinn aren’t strictly “friendly,” and in fact, she’s realizing she’s bisexual and falling head over heels for a girl. It’s a bittersweet story to be sure, and while it definitely has its fun scenes, close moments, painful familial interactions, and tingly romance (what Spalding book doesn’t??), you’ll spend much of the book wishing you could push the characters together and say “Just talk already”…but isn’t that exactly how life goes?
My Opinion: As someone who has been through too many friendship breakups to count, this read is going to be devastating. But I put this book on my list for one reason: the synopsis made it feel so much like life that I couldn't help but feel that the story would pull me into James and Kat's universe and tear my heart into pieces. I absolutely cannot wait to have my heartbroken.

The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper - FEBRUARY 4TH
Goodreads Synopsis: As a successful social media journalist with half a million followers, seventeen-year-old Cal is used to sharing his life online. But when his pilot father is selected for a highly publicized NASA mission to Mars, Cal and his family relocate from Brooklyn to Houston and are thrust into a media circus.
Amidst the chaos, Cal meets sensitive and mysterious Leon, another “Astrokid,” and finds himself falling head over heels—fast. As the frenzy around the mission grows, so does their connection. But when secrets about the program are uncovered, Cal must find a way to reveal the truth without hurting the people who have become most important to him.
Expertly capturing the thrill of first love and the self-doubt all teens feel, debut author Phil Stamper is a new talent to watch.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: This is a lovely and bighearted debut chock full of space nerdery, big dreams, new beginnings, and social media scandal. Cal’s life is completely uprooted when his dad shocks them all by being chosen for a space mission, something his family had never taken seriously as a lifelong dream. Worst of all, he’s forbidden from documenting life in the new compound, forcing him to leave his massive social media following behind. On the bright side, there’s Leon, son of another astronaut on the program and immediate thief of Cal’s heart. But when things go awry in the program and secrets are revealed, Cal will have to decide exactly what he’s willing to do to get the truth out there, and who he’s willing to lose.
My Opinion: Social Media? Media circus? Texas? NASA? First loves? And a choice that could implode Cal's life from the inside? The name Cal? Other than Texas, a state which I hate, all of this adds up to something good, hopefully so good that I can forget that Texas is involved at all. So, basically, it has to reach Red, White, and Royal Blue levels, which is the only book so far that has made me like Texas at all. But I trust that it will do well. Plus it was reviewed by 4 of authors on my queer bookshelf - Becky Albertalli, Adam Silvera, Shaun David Hutchinson, and Caleb Roehrig. Bonus points for not being a graphic novel like I feared it was.

Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales -MARCH 3RD
Goodreads Synopsis: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda meets Clueless, inspired by Grease.
When Ollie meets his dream guy, Will, over summer break, he thinks he’s found his Happily Ever After. But once summer’s ended, Will stops texting him back, and Ollie finds himself one prince short of a fairytale ending. To complicate the fairytale further, a family emergency sees Ollie uprooted and enrolled at a new school across the country—Will’s school—where Ollie finds that the sweet, affectionate and comfortably queer guy he knew from summer isn’t the same one attending Collinswood High. This Will is a class clown, closeted—and, to be honest, a bit of a jerk.
Ollie has no intention of pining after a guy who clearly isn’t ready for a relationship. But as Will starts ‘coincidentally’ popping up in every area of Ollie’s life, from music class to the lunch table, Ollie finds his resolve weakening. The last time he gave Will his heart, Will handed it back to him trampled and battered. Ollie would have to be an idiot to trust him with it again.
Right? Right.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Grease goes gay YA in this rom-com about two boys whose dreamy summer fling comes crashing into a harsh reality when our lead, Oliver, transfers to Will’s school thanks to a family crisis-driven move, only to find out Will isn’t Out and isn’t about to be. As Ollie finds his own ways to settle in, he can’t seem to shake Will’s presence. But whether there’s a future for them remains to be seen. This sophomore novel is warmly delightful and delightfully warm, with some tears on the side for the aforementioned family crisis, and some hard-earned queer solidarity is the icing on the cake.
My Opinion: The last musical-ly queer book I read was What If It's Us? so Ollie and Will have a lot to live up to, but it gets points for getting an Instagram shoutout from Becky Albertalli herself. From the synopses, it sounds like a case of strangers to lovers to strangers to maybe friends to maybe something more and hopefully a happy ending, but what I look forward to the most is rewriting Summer Nights as I read this book.

Super Adjacent by Crystal Cestari - MARCH 17TH
Goodreads Synopsis: Claire has always wanted to work with superheroes, from collecting Warrior Nation cards as a kid to drafting "What to Say to a Hero" speeches in her diary. Now that she's landed a coveted internship with the Chicago branch of Warrior Nation, Claire is ready to prove she belongs, super or not. But complicating plans is the newest WarNat hero, Girl Power (aka Joy), who happens to be egotistical and self-important ... and pretty adorable.
Bridgette, meanwhile, wants out of WarNat. After years of dating the famous Vaporizer (aka Matt), she's sick of playing second, or third, or five-hundredth fiddle to all the people-in-peril in the city of Chicago. Of course, once Bridgette meets Claire-who's clearly in need of a mentor and wingman-giving up WarNat becomes slightly more complicated. It becomes a lot more complicated when Joy, Matt, and the rest of the heroes go missing, leaving only Claire and Bridgette to save the day.
In this fresh and funny take on the world of supers, author Crystal Cestari spotlights what it's like to be the seemingly non-super half of a dynamic duo with banter-filled romance and bold rescues perfect for readers seeking a great escape.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Claire is a superhero fangirl, a card-carrying member of Warrior Nation. And when she finds an unexpected way (with some unexpected help) into winning an internship with the Chicago WarNat branch, it should be everything she’s ever dreamed of. But that unexpected help is proving very difficult to work with; it’s in the form of Girl Power (aka Joy), the newest hero and a pain in Claire’s butt. A very, very cute pain in Claire’s butt. But distraction or no distraction, Claire’s determined to prove herself, especially when she and Bridgette, a WarNat, who’s tired of being “the girlfriend” to an even more famous hero, decides to mentor her and they end up having to be exactly the heroes Chicago needs.
My Opinion: Two words. Super. Heroes.

Music From Another World by Robin Talley - MARCH 31ST
Goodreads Synopsis: It’s summer 1977 and closeted lesbian Tammy Larson can’t be herself anywhere. Not at her strict Christian high school, not at her conservative Orange County church and certainly not at home, where her ultrareligious aunt relentlessly organizes antigay political campaigns. Tammy’s only outlet is writing secret letters in her diary to gay civil rights activist Harvey Milk…until she’s matched with a real-life pen pal who changes everything.
Sharon Hawkins bonds with Tammy over punk music and carefully shared secrets, and soon their letters become the one place she can be honest. The rest of her life in San Francisco is full of lies. The kind she tells for others—like helping her gay brother hide the truth from their mom—and the kind she tells herself. But as antigay fervor in America reaches a frightening new pitch, Sharon and Tammy must rely on their long-distance friendship to discover their deeply personal truths, what they’ll stand for…and who they’ll rise against.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Talley is one of queer YA’s most prolific genre jumpers, but she seems to be making herself beautifully at home in historical with this follow-up to 2018’s Pulp, again set amid a context of vital queer American history. This time around, it’s 1977, and Tammy Larson would love more than anything to come out of the closet as a lesbian, but that’s a major no-go where she lives. Her only outlet is to write “letters” to the activist Harvey Milk, at least until she’s matched with a pen pal to whom she can write letters for real. Sharon makes for a much better companion than Tammy’s diary, and she can sympathize, given her brother is gay and feeling all the same misery in the wake of Anita Bryant’s leading to a successful repeal of their protections. Together they’ll find their own brand of activism and learn to fight back against a world of hate.
My Opinion: Ever since reading Annie On My Mind by Nancy Garden, I have been craving more historical sapphic girls. With Pulp in my Kindle library and this in my future shopping cart + Casey McQuiston's time traveling book in 2021, I am bound to get a fix for that craving soon. Hopefully, it will also cure heartbreak.

Loveless by Alice Oseman - APRIL 2ND
Goodreads Synopsis: The fourth novel from the phenomenally talented Alice Oseman – one of the most authentic and talked-about voices in contemporary YA.
Georgia feels loveless – in the romantic sense, anyway. She’s eighteen, never been in a relationship, or even had a crush on a single person in her whole life. She thinks she's an anomaly, people call her weird, and she feels a little broken. But she still adores romance – weddings, fan fiction, and happily ever afters. She knows she’ll find her person one day … right?
After a disastrous summer, Georgia is now at university, hundreds of miles from home. She is more determined than ever to find love – and her annoying roommate, Rooney, is a bit of a love expert, so perhaps she can help.
But maybe Georgia just doesn’t feel that way about guys. Or girls. Or anyone at all. Maybe that's okay. Maybe she can find happiness without falling in love. And maybe Rooney is a little more loveless than she first appears.
LOVELESS is a journey of identity, self-acceptance, and finding out how many different types of love there really are. And that no one is really loveless after all.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Oseman’s crossed the pond before with Radio Silence, so this American’s fingers are crossed she’ll do it again with her newest, about a girl named Georgia who’s struggling with the fact that she’s eighteen and has never had so much as a crush. She’s sick of people thinking she’s broken or weird, and it isn’t like she isn’t into romance; she’s just not into it for herself. When she gets to university, she thinks maybe she can “fix” things with her roommate’s help. But what if it turns out there’s nothing to fix, and Georgia’s great and perfectly capable of happiness just as she is?
My Opinion: Alice Oseman has written a-spec characters before, but it's possible that this seemingly aromantic character will be the one that I'll read first. Not to say Radio Silence wasn't amazing, I just wouldn't know. But I can't wait to find out when I read it after I read this one. And then maybe her other books too.

Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan - APRIL 21ST
Goodreads Synopsis: Jubilee has it all together. She’s an elite cellist, and when she’s not working in her stepmom’s indie comic shop, she’s prepping for the biggest audition of her life. Ridley is barely holding it together. His parents own the biggest comic-store chain in the country, and Ridley can’t stop disappointing them–that is, when they’re even paying attention. They meet one fateful night at a comic convention prom, and the two can’t help falling for each other. Too bad their parents are at each other’s throats every chance they get, making a relationship between them nearly impossible . . . unless they manage to keep it a secret. Then again, the feud between their families may be the least of their problems. As Ridley’s anxiety spirals, Jubilee tries to help but finds her focus torn between her fast-approaching audition and their intensifying relationship. What if love can’t conquer all? What if each of them needs more than the other can give?
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Dugan debuted with one of my absolute favorite queer YA rom-coms (seriously, if you haven’t yet read Hot Dog Girl, do yourself a favor), so I’m thrilled to see her returning with another one, this one an m/f pairing where both halves of the couple are bi (or, more accurately, one is bi and one is still figuring it out). [Jubilee] is an elite cellist with a major audition coming up and a side job working at her stepmom’s indie comic shop. Ridley works at his parents’ comic shop too, only theirs is a big chain, and no friend to the little guy. Which makes it a little difficult when the two meet at a comic-con prom and immediately hit it off, despite their family feud. I’ll take Romeo & Juliet with a much happier ending and heaps of bisexuality any day, wouldn’t you?
My Opinion: Romeo and Juliet retelling + comic convention prom + bisexuality + indie comic shops = a recipe for me to like a book.

When You Get the Chance by Tom Ryan and Robin Stevenson-MAY 5TH
Goodreads Synopsis: [Edited] Cousins Mark [from the East coast of Canada] and Talia [from the West coast of Canada] go on a road trip to Pride in Toronto as they search for love and adventure and uncover family secrets along the way.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: One of the things I’m often asked to recommend is books that feature mlm and wlw solidarity, and I especially love giving answers that show it not just in characters but in authorship. Here, two Canadian rock stars of queer YA come together with a story about cousins named Mark and Talia who are reunited from their respective Canadian coasts after a death in the family and decide to take a road trip together to Toronto so Talia can see her non-binary partner and Mark can get to Pride. The two don’t have much in common, and they’ll have to let Mark’s little sister tag along, but they both know some kind of magic awaits them in TO, and they can’t wait to get there.
My Opinion: There is too much to love about this book. Canada! WLW or WLNB/MLM solidarity! Canadian road trip! Road trips in general! Canadian Pride! PRIDE IN GENERAL! A nonbinary s/o! TORONTO, CANADA! And family secrets! Plus it gives off You Know Me Well vibes, and that's one of my favorites.

The Extraordinaries by T.J. Klune - MAY 5TH
Goodreads Synopsis:
Some people are extraordinary. Some are just extra.
Nick Bell? Not extraordinary. But being the most popular fanfiction writer in the Extraordinaries fandom is a superpower, right?
After a chance encounter with Shadow Star, Nova City’s mightiest hero (and Nick’s biggest crush), Nick sets out to make himself extraordinary. And he’ll do it with or without the reluctant help of Seth Gray, Nick’s best friend (and maybe the love of his life).
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Klune’s doing double duty this year (or maybe even more? Damn, it’s hard to keep up), following up an adult contemporary fantasy with his first entry into YA, about a boy named Nick who happens to be the Extraordinaries fandom’s most popular fanfic writer, and who aims to be even more extraordinary when he meets the hero he’s been crushing on. (But maybe he’s in love with his best friend, Seth? It’s complicated. It’s always complicated.)
My Opinion: What can I say? I'm a sucker for books about fanfic writers. And for best friends to lovers stories, so hopefully this is one, and not a fan-dates-hero story.

The Summer of Impossibilities by Rachel Allen - MAY 12TH
Goodreads Synopsis: Skyler, Ellie, Scarlett and Amelia Grace are forced to spend the summer at the lake house where their moms became best friends.
One can’t wait. One would rather gnaw off her own arm than hang out with a bunch of strangers just so their moms can drink too much wine and sing Journey two o’clock in the morning. Two are sisters. Three are currently feuding with their mothers.
One almost sets her crush on fire with a flaming marshmallow. Two steal the boat for a midnight joyride that goes horribly, awkwardly wrong. All of them are hiding something.
One falls in love with a boy she thought she despised. Two fall in love with each other. None of them are the same at the end of the summer.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Allen’s been a personal favorite of mine since her subversive feminist debut, 17 First Kisses, and I’m thrilled to see her releasing her first queer YA, which basically looks like a gay Traveling Pants except not all the girls actually wanna be spending the summer together at the lake house where their moms became besties. Most of them can’t even stand their moms right now. All of them have secrets. And two of them…well, two of them are in love with each other, so one way or another it’s gonna be a hell of a summer.
My Opinion: Look, I'm going to be honest, I saw that it was co.pared to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and I immediately added it to my list. Plus, strangers to friends to lovers? I love.

Date Me, Bryson Keller! by Kevin van Whye - MAY 19TH
Goodreads Synopsis: What If It's Us meets To All the Boys I've Loved Before in this upbeat and heartfelt boy-meets-boy romance that feels like a modern twist on a '90s rom-com!
Everyone knows about the dare: Each week, Bryson Keller must date someone new--the first person to ask him out on Monday morning. Few think Bryson can do it. He may be the king of Fairvale Academy, but he's never really dated before.
Until a boy asks him out, and everything changes.
Kai Sheridan didn't expect Bryson to say yes. So when Bryson agrees to secretly go out with him, Kai is thrown for a loop. But as the days go by, he discovers there's more to Bryson beneath the surface, and dating him begins to feel less like an act and more like the real thing. Kai knows how the story of a gay boy liking someone straight ends. With his heart on the line, he's awkwardly trying to navigate senior year at school, at home, and in the closet, all while grappling with the fact that this "relationship" will last only five days. After all, Bryson Keller is popular, good-looking, and straight . . . right?
Kevin van Whye delivers an uplifting and poignant coming-out love story that will have readers rooting for these two teens to share their hearts with the world--and with each other.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: If this book looks like the cutest, fluffiest, most make-you-melt kind of romance, it’s because it is…at least in the little romantic bubble that ensued when when Kai took advantage of a dare that requires Bryson Keller to agree to date the first person to ask him out every Monday morning for that week. But outside the bubble, the world is still wondering who Bryson Keller’s mystery girlfriend is, the one person not to shout from the rooftops that she’s got the guy. And Kai isn’t gonna be the one to tell them it isn’t a girl at all; his spontaneous request made Bryson the first and only person he’s ever come out to. But when both the answer and Kai himself are forcibly outed, he and the boy he’s come to fall for, the boy who’s only just realized he himself is gay, will have to band together and put their relationship through the ultimate test.
My Opinion: A lot of these books are comparing themselves to Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and this one's even comparing itself to To All the Boys I've Loved Before, so it's basically setting me up for disappointment, but I will admit, I am judging this book by it's cover, and that smile is too cute to resist.

I Kissed Alice by Anna Birch - MAY 26TH
Goodreads Synopsis: For fans of Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and Fangirl, I Kissed Alice is a romantic comedy about enemies, lovers, and everything in between.
Rhodes and Iliana couldn't be more different, but that's not why they hate each other. Hyper-gifted artist Rhodes has always excelled at Alabama's Conservatory of the Arts despite a secret bout of creator's block, while transfer student Iliana tries to outshine everyone with her intense, competitive work ethic. Since only one of them can get the coveted Capstone scholarship, the competition between them is fierce.
They both escape the pressure on a fanfic site where they are unknowingly collaborating on a graphic novel. And despite being worst enemies in real life, their anonymous online identities I-Kissed-Alice and Curious-in-Cheshire are starting to like each other...a lot. When the truth comes out, will they destroy each other's future?
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Sign me the hell up for literally every enemies-to-lovers f/f rom-com, but especially this one, where the girls who hate each other at Alabama’s Conservatory for the Arts have no idea they’re falling for each other online as they collaborate on a graphic novel for a fanfic site under their online identities. That’s…everything I love in book? Yep, pretty much!
My Opinion: This one is on my list because Alice is basically my favorite sapphic girl name ever after my rewrite of the song, All the Girls Love Alice. Unfortunately, neither girl is named Alice, but it does seem to involve something about Alice in Wonderland. Maybe the graphic novel they're creating is a queer retelling of the classic story? Can't wait to find out.

Six Angry Girls by Adrienne Kisner - JUNE 2ND
Goodreads Synopsis: A story of mock trial, feminism, and the inherent power found in a pair of knitting needles.
Raina Petree is crushing her senior year, until her boyfriend dumps her, the drama club (basically) dumps her, the college of her dreams slips away, and her arch-nemesis triumphs.
Things aren’t much better for Millie Goodwin. Her father treats her like a servant, and the all-boy Mock Trial team votes her out, even after she spent the last three years helping to build its success.
But then, an advice columnist unexpectedly helps Raina find new purpose in a pair of knitting needles and a politically active local yarn store. This leads to an unlikely meeting in the girls’ bathroom, where Raina inspires Millie to start a rival team. The two join together and recruit four other angry girls to not only take on Mock Trial, but to smash the patriarchy in the process.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Kisner is three for three in putting gloriously queer YA on shelves, and I am in love with the idea of this newest, which takes the famous “Twelve Angry Men” and situates it in Mock Trial with an ace lead. Raina’s killing it at life, until suddenly she isn’t. Millie’s in a similar spot, having just been ousted from the all-male Mock Trial team. When the two pair up to start a rival girls’ team, it isn’t just their opponents they’re gunning for—it’s the whole motherfluffin’ patriarchy.
My Opinion:

The State of Us by Shaun David Hutchinson - JUNE 2ND
Goodreads Synopsis: The State of Us is the story of Dean and Dre—the 16-year-old sons of the Republican and Democratic candidates for President of the United States—who fall in love on the sidelines of their parents' presidential campaigns.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis: Tis the year for political YAs, for obvious reasons, and this contemporary romance also does double duty of being a touching demisexual coming out story that happens to take place across the aisle. (The political aisle, that is.) When Dean, the son the of the Republican candidate, and Dre, son of the Democratic candidate, find themselves locked in close quarters, they’re surprised to find that they quite enjoy the company of someone else who knows what it’s like to be in the junior spotlight. Soon, romance sparks, which is a bit of problem considering the whole “opponents” thing, not to mention Dean still trying to figure out how to deal with and discuss the fact that he’s demisexual. But someone out there seems determined to make their problem much, much bigger, and they’ll have to figure out who wants their relationship outed, how they can make it work, and how they can reconcile a future.
My Opinion: While unfortunately this love story has no Prince from England or Wales, this book is definitely in the same genre as Red, White, and Royal Blue, though of course Dean and Dre will be more YA than our favorite international political couple. No matter what, I can tell I'm going to love the angst in this one.

The Falling in Love Montage by Clara Smyth - JUNE 9TH
Goodreads Synopsis:
Saoirse doesn’t believe in love at first sight or happy endings. If they were real, her mother would still be able to remember her name and not in a care home with early onset dementia. A condition that Saoirse may one day turn out to have inherited. So she’s not looking for a relationship. She doesn’t see the point in igniting any romantic sparks if she’s bound to burn out.
But after a chance encounter at a house party, Saoirse is about to break her own rules. For a girl with one blue freckle, an irresistible sense of mischief, and a passion for rom-coms.
Unbothered by Saoirse’s rulebook, Ruby proposes a loophole: They don’t need true love to have one summer of fun, complete with every cliché, rom-com montage-worthy date they can dream up—and a binding agreement to end their romance come fall. It would be the perfect plan, if they weren’t forgetting one thing about the Falling in Love Montage: when it’s over, the characters actually fall in love… for real.
Dahlia Adler's Synopsis:
Love books that make you laugh, swoon, and cry? Then you are going to fall head over heels for Smyth’s debut, an Ireland-set romantic contemporary about a girl named Saiorse who’s losing her mother to early-onset dementia and is determined never to get involved with anyone as a result…until she meets Ruby, and all bets are off. The girls agree to a no-strings-attached summer of just the good parts of romance, the movie montage where the couple does all sorts of fun things as they fall in love. But when the end of the summer comes, will they be able to let go?
My Opinion: The falling in love montage is my favorite part of love stories and I can't wait to read one set in Ireland! No strings attached? I don't think so Saiorse and Ruby. If they aren't together by the end of the book, I'll be tying the strings myself and writing fanfiction for days. I've only had one relationship that would qualify for a falling in love montage, most likely because I've only been in love once, and that's... ended, so I need something to fill my heart and this book just might be it.

*******************************************************************************************
Avengers HQ 2025 (Current Time) When the Avengers heard the story of James Rogers they didn`t believe what they heard.
Rodney asked how did they come here. James explains that they have Cosmic Strings technology that allows them to travel elsewhere. They have seen that one of the universes has eliminated the entire timeline. And that timeline is where young avengers live. Now, something has happened in another timeline that disturbed their timeline that it become the reason people vanished.
They come to fix the original timeline and bring back their friends and many others. But they are not sure how and why it happened. They need to know what is happening in this universe. They let the current Avengers tell what happened in this universe.
They find that many other things different from their world. In their world, Tony still alive raises his children and his family with Pepper. Thor was married to a woman and also his friend named Sif who had a daughter named Thorun. Clint was recovering from the loss of his entire family and he also met another woman named Bobbi and married and had a Francis as their child. Dr. Hulk lives alone to study and open his own hospital. And Natasha and Steve are married and James is their child. And most The Avengers they found here should have died after Thanos in 2018.
"Here Steve and Natasha are just friends and partners, they are no more than friends," Bucky explains though in the heart he is also uncertain if they are just friends. They spent a lot of time together maybe they are maybe they not.
"Wait a minute, Captain America and Black Widow, anyone? This news should be the hottest story in the tabloids." Scott was also surprised by James's story. But he also did not know them both very closely.
"But Steve and Natasha never married in this universe then how James still alive? He never exists in this universe." Hope finally breaking the biggest question.
"You are right. We still don`t know how that happens. We probably will find an answer soon." Morgan agrees with Hope. She felt weird as well.
"They are my parents, they love each other, not because I am their child, I know how close their relationship is, they are very happy together." James was upset with them. He knows his parents very well.
"So we all live in a very different world all this time, Everything stand on their own " Carol speaks
"My parents told them they had failed to reverse the snap after Thanos did in 2018. In this universe, they succeeded, but the problem is it affected our world. Many of you should not be here.” James said
"If we save our parents, it means we will be safe our lives and everything will come back like before. Save my dad from the dead, then unite James's parents" Morgan gave the idea
"But your father was dead two years ago and Natasha died in Vormir, and Steve chose to live in the 40s," Sam told the truth.
"But we can go back to the past, and I can save my dad. James can go to that place before his mother makes that sacrifice." Morgan said
"I don`t think you understand, Natasha was dead and cannot be reversed, it's not an exchangeable process, that's what I heard from Clint Barton," Wanda recalled the conversation with Clint
"Are you sure? Who can confirm it, you just believe in his words?" James still doesn`t believe it
"Well I don`t know, why don`t you go there and ask the guard for the stone itself? Besides Steve also said that he managed to return all the stones in his original place so that the original timeline would not be interrupted, otherwise he would take Natasha home." Sam a little bit annoys.
"My dad will not do that; he'll definitely find a way to save my mother." James insisted. He knows his stubborn attitude and never gives up.
"Maybe your father loves your mom, but this is the other Steve, this Steve is different, He who has never forgotten his first love, and he will definitely take the opportunity if he can go back in time to live with his first lover,” said Bucky
"If you go back to the past, the reality in the world will change, it will benefit your universe, but not in our reality. I am sorry what happens to your parents, but you should not interfere with the time." Dr. Strange said
"We all live in our own universe, without interruption, why are we suddenly colliding with each other? Why is this happening after a while? There's something going on, why now?" Cassie speaks \
They all being silent.
"How do you know the disruption comes from our universe?" T`Challa asked
"The cause of cosmic accidents has been detected in this universe," Morgan explained
"What do you mean?" Carol asked again
"We ask a few people who know about these things, but we don`t know how and who does it, that's why we came here" James answered
"Who is the best person to ask about time travel?” Morgan asking because everything seems confusing
"Maybe you can ask Dr. Banner” Scott remember he was the one who builds the quantum tunnel two years ago

a time travel mishap
based off this gifset because I couldn’t help myself. I also blame @sgtbuckyybarnes.
This was supposed to be simple: return the stones back to their proper timelines and keep time from creating a bunch of nasty alternate universes. Simple, right? Wrong.
The first few stones were simple; first Steve stopped in the seventies to return the Tesseract and pick up a few more Pym Particles for his other journeys and the return one, then he had been able to get the Time Stone and Reality Stone back in their proper places in New York, but before he could travel to Asgard, his suit started beeping and hissing. Something it had never done before.
Being yanked through time was not an ideal experience. It felt like he was going on the Cyclone at Coney Island, but backwards and upside down. His body was being twisted and pulled in every direction. Sometimes he landed, sometimes he didn’t. He saw galaxies pass him by, heard voices of the past and felt things he had never felt before. If he wasn’t in a complete panic the whole time, he’d think it was kind of cool.
But then he landed. Thank God he landed. Of course, he immediately threw up, but he was on solid ground again. Then he heard the unmistakable sound of something powering down. A quick look/smack to the suit proved that it was in fact, the suit itself. Which was ….great.
The only actual good thing was that it looked like he had landed in New York. He just wasn’t sure which New York. There had been two different ones he had been to before time travel became a thing: the one he was born in and the one he woke up in. But this one wasn’t one he had been to before.
A sense of deja vu settled over him as he started to explore the city and get his bearings. He was out of place, just like when he had woken up from the ice all over again. Luckily, this time he wasn’t so overwhelmed by the noises and the general change of the city. The New York he had landed in was similar to the one he was used to, but there were minor detail changes. And a quick look at a newspaper told him it was...2004. Great. At least it wasn’t too far in the past or future. He could still semi-fit in.
Not wanting to draw attention to himself, Steve hurried up the steps and into the first building he came across. He needed to get out of the suit and find some actual clothes and someone to fix the suit. Maybe he could find Tony...where was he in 2004 again?
A loud laugh interrupted his planning thought process, getting him to look down the hallway he had turned into.
Three things flipped through his brain as he did in the following order: he had walked into a high school, said high school halls were filled with teenagers chatting at various lockers, and one of those teenagers was…
“Holy shit.” he breathed out as he took in the sight of a teenage version of Q playing with a lei that was around another student’s neck. It was her. He knew it was, having seen plenty of pictures of her in her high school days.
The messy bun on her head with the defining purple streak highlighting its way into the bun. Those large hoop earrings paired with the choker that matched her crop top. Plus the very short shorts giving him perfect view of her intricate thigh tattoo that she had gotten when she was thirteen. It was her.
While he couldn’t quite hear what she was saying over the general loudness of the hallway, he watched her bite her bottom lip and give the kid she was obviously flirting with the most sultry bedroom eyes he had ever seen on her. He was only ever used to being on the receiving side of that look, never having seen it used on another person. And he had to admit, it made him a little bit….jealous? Why in holy hell was he jealous? It’s not like she was his wife yet. She was a teenager for Christ’s sake! He shouldn’t be jealous of that….
The loud ringing of a bell tore his attention away from where his wife was flirting with some random kid and sent him into slight panic mode; she couldn’t see him. Well, none of them could. At least not with him decked out in his futuristic time travel suit. That would cause a lot of questions he wasn’t sure he could answer without warranting more questions.
Changing out of, then stashing the suit in a random locker, Steve walked back out into the hall in search for Q. Not to do anything, but to just make sure he actually did see her. It’s not every day you see your wife as a teenager.
As he wandered the hallways, he started to think more about where he was. 2004. At least a months, or even a few weeks, before she was sent to jail. He could warn her. Make sure she dumped Spencer and never ended up in the situation she ended up in. He would save her so much trouble and heartbreak.
Then he started to debate with himself; if he told her about everything, she would never meet him. Not like it mattered though since if he told her, he’d just create a new timeline. He could still go back to his original timeline and things would be fine. Telling her would just create an alternate universe. All it would do was let her have the future she wanted, not one she was forced into. That wouldn’t be one of those nasty alternate universes like Bruce said, right?
“Excuse me!” someone called out, making him turn to look over his shoulder. A bearded man in a suit and tie was coming toward him, hand gesturing for him to follow, “You’re the sub, right? For history?” Steve almost laughed out loud, but before he could disagree, the man answered for him, “Sorry, this building’s like a maze. C’mon, class has already started.” he waved for Steve to follow. Taking in a breath, he decided to follow after him, knowing that he couldn’t just ignore him and leave. He could teach history -- even though he had slept through most of it.
The man in the suit, the principal Steve found out, left him in the classroom with a rather large group of teenagers. Most of them seeming like they wanted to be anywhere else. He felt the same. He didn’t have time to stick around and teach history to a bunch of kids. He needed to find someone who could fix the suit so he could get back to his mission. And get home to his Q. The fully matured, adult Q.
Luckily, none of the teenagers expected anything from him. There were already packets on the desk for the kids to do. He was basically just there to babysit until the bell rang again. There had been no sign of Q in the class he subbed for and he wasn’t about to sit through another class he didn’t need to be in. There were more important things to deal with.
Ditching his supposed role as a substitute teacher, Steve once again found himself wandering the empty halls. He made his way to the computer lab figuring he should at least look up Tony. He was running Stark Industries by then, right? Or at least a part of the company?
Even though he was well versed in technology by this point, the computers seemed to have regressed from the ones he was used to in the future. Chunky and rather slow, he was growing frustrated with the tools he was forced to use. A phonebook would be easier at this point, but apparently 2004 was still an awkward transitional phase between technological advancements.
Letting out an annoyed, frustrated noise, he sat back in his chair only to see someone’s head pop up from across the other row of computers. A familiar set of eyes went wide at the sight of him and she quickly ducked back down behind her computer. Brow furrowing, Steve leaned forward in his seat, raising himself up slightly to peer over the row of computers.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in class?” he asked Q, unsurprised by the fact that he found her skipping.
“Aren’t you?” she volleyed back with a raise of her eyebrows. He matched her expression waiting for her to break first, but she held his gaze with the same intensity as her older-self. Good to know that was always a talent of hers, “You’re the new history sub right?” she asked after a moment of silence, “There’s a history class right now.”
“I’m assuming you know this because you’re supposed to be in it?” he asked. She made a face and shrugged, not answering his question and returning to her screen, “What’re you doin’ over there?” he tilted his chin in the direction of her computer, but she didn’t look at him. Only shrugged again and continued to click around on the screen. Taking it upon himself to find out on his own, he moved away from his computer and over to hers to look over her shoulder.
“Online poker, huh?” he crossed his arms over his chest. She didn’t even try to hide it, unintimidated by him. “Is this legal?”
“Nope.” she popped the p in the word, eyes never leaving the screen, “But I’m about to win this hand anyway so I’ll be done in a second.”
“Sure about that?” he knew she loved poker because she was good at reading people’s tells, but this was online. How could she be so confident? Yet a moment later, confetti exploded on the screen; she had won. The screen reflected her proud smirk, one that he had seen countless times whenever she was proud of herself but didn’t want anyone to know about it. “Good job.” he congratulated her, “But now I’m gonna have to take you to the principal.” he tilted his head to the side and clenched his teeth together. Still unfazed by his empty threat, she clicked a few times on the screen to transfer her winnings somewhere and then got to her feet.
“No, you won’t. Cause then you’ll be just as fucked as me.” she smirked at him, “I’ll be telling him how you skipped out on class to research Tony Stark.” she said his name with such disgust that Steve barely contained his flinch. Despite the amount of times Tony and Q had butted heads over the years, he knew they had found some common ground with Molly and had respected and tolerated each other. It was hard to hear her talk about Tony like that. Especially considering everything that had happened in his timeline.
“How do you know what I was doing?” he asked, hands slipping into his pants pockets. She gave him a sly grin then tilted her head to the windows he was sitting in front of. The reflection.
“‘Bye, teach.” she chirped before walking past him and leaving him in the computer lab. Damn teenagers.
According to the internet, Tony still lived in Miami full time, but would be in the city for some event in a few weeks. Which meant Steve was stuck in 2004 for several more days, and still the history sub. Apparently the real history sub never showed up. At least he had Q to keep him company -- that was whenever she decided to show up to class.
“Late again, Ms. Proctor.” he called her out as she flounced into the room with five minutes left in the period. He had to refrain from calling by the last name Rogers like he was used to doing. He was still adjusting to this time period. She gave him a smirk, but didn’t respond, “C’mon Q, you know what that means.” he pointed to the jar that sat on his desk. Something he had implemented during his time as the history sub, “Two dollars in the jar.”
“Oh, I would, Mr. Dawson,” she turned to show off her ass, “but these shorts don’t have any pockets.” she slid her hand down her ass and Steve had to duck his head down to stop himself from staring. Even though she was eighteen, it still wasn’t right to be leering at her ass that she was so proudly displaying to him (typical Q). After all, in this timeline, he was her teacher. This time the professional boundary was his, not hers.
Still, with each passing day, the urge to tell her everything grew stronger and stronger. Really he just wanted to talk to her. After all, she was the one person he could always talk to. About everything and anything. Couldn’t that also be the case in this timeline too? Maybe she could help him get back to his own time. Or at least help him come up with a plan. She was good with making plans in his time, surely she had that talent in high school too.
Though before he could come up with a plan of his own to tell her, he slipped up.
“How do you know that?” she asked suddenly, making him come to a full stop. He looked up at her from where he was grading packets at his desk. Seeing her confused expression made the blood drain from his face. She stared at him, long and hard, searching for answer that she wasn’t going to find unless he told her.
“You...mentioned it the other day.” he responded lamely, gesturing to the empty classroom, “I overheard you talking to Cole about it.” he leaned back in his chair, arms crossing over his chest. Her eyes narrowed and he knew he fucked up even more; she didn’t believe him.
“Why would I tell Cole about my grandmother’s birthday?” she asked, voice becoming steely in a tone he was used to; she always used it whenever he was in trouble. Which he very much was right then.
“I don’t know, aren’t you two friends?” he tried to dig himself out of the hole he was in. She scoffed, looking over his head as she shook her own.
“Ridiculous, no. What are you doing? Stalking me?” she was getting angry with him, which was fair. He didn’t have to say a goddamn word about how she was going to be out of school for her grandmother’s birthday trip, since all she said was that she was going to be missing class. But of course, he had to fill in the blanks with the details he knew because of his Q. And he had done so out loud.
“No, of course not.” he finally looked up at her to see her glaring at him. He swallowed the lump in his throat and then got to his feet. Better to tell her the truth than have her think something else.
Shutting the classroom door, he turned back to her. She was waiting expectantly for an answer, arms crossing over her chest. As he walked back toward her, he slipped his hands into his pockets so she wouldn’t see him clenching his fists nervously.
“There’s something I have to tell you.” he started. Her blank expression didn’t change, indicating he should continue, “My name isn’t Steven Dawson. It’s Steve. Steve Rogers.” he waited for her reaction, thinking it would be more than the scoff he got followed by an unconvinced,
“Like Captain America?”
“Not like. Am.” he corrected her. Her arms dropped to her sides and she rolled her eyes.
“No way, that guy’s been dead since World War Two.” he winced at the casual mention of his death, reminded that in 2004, everyone still thought he was dead. Not a human popsicle.
“I’m not. I’m frozen in a block of ice in the Arctic.” he corrected her, “But that’s not the point.” he moved on, “The point is that I’m not just Captain America, I’m also from the future.” he finished seriously. The corners of her mouth twitched for a moment before she let out a laugh.
“Oh my God! You’re not serious are you?” she laughed, placing her hands on her hips, “I mean just say you’re some weird teacher creep! It’s better than pretending you’re a time traveler.” she laughed again.
“I’m completely serious, Q.” he took in a breath, “And in my present -- your future, we know each other.” he kept it simple, not wanting to overwhelm her with the whole marriage thing. Again, she laughed and then shook her head,
“Right okay, then what year are you from?”
“2023.” he told her, “Nineteen years from now. You’re almost forty.” her eyes went wide at the mention of such an old age and he had to stifle a laugh.
“No, no that’s not a real year.” she laughed, shaking her head a bit, “Jesus Christ, they really need to start doing background checks on these subs cause you’re nuts.” she leaned forward a bit and he shook his head, hands moving from his pockets to his hips.
“I’m not.” he gave her a half smile, “Trust me, I know it’s a little hard to wrap your head around --” she let out a bark of a laugh but he continued, “but I’m really from the future.” she eyed him, squinting a bit more as she studied him.
“Prove it.” she challenged him, “Prove you’re from the future.” he took in a breath before meeting her eyes.
“What do you want to know?” he asked, knowing it would be best to have her be in control of the situation. She thought to herself for a moment, staring off into the distance then letting her eyes return to his.
“Tell me something about me. We’re friends in the future, right?” she asked, stressing the word friends, almost like she knew something he didn’t -- or maybe did. Still, he nodded, “Then tell me something that only I and a friend would know.” she prompted him. He took in a breath and tried to think of something she had told him from her teenage years. There wasn’t much to go off of since she never really talked about this time to begin with but…
“I know you once beat someone up in the alleyway of Grattan Street because two older boys were messing with your younger brother, Frankie.” he settled on, remembering their conversation during their first trip to Brooklyn all those years ago. She stared at him for a long moment before shaking her head,
“No, not good enough. You could’ve walked by when it happened.” she debated his answer and gave a shrug. He sighed and offered up another Q factoid:
“Sometimes, you skip school to go to Mets games and sit up in the nosebleeds with a Coke and popcorn and have a stat book full of the players averages and whatnot.” she shook her head again,
“You could’ve followed me there.” she shifted from foot to foot, “Try something else.” He glanced at the clock, knowing he was running out of time before the next bell rang.
“I’m doing the best I can, Queenie.” he pinched the bridge of his nose as he tried to think of something else, “I know your favorite color is a soft yellow, you have to use sensitive skin detergent or else your skin gets all red and bumpy, you got that tattoo when you were thirteen and had to hire someone on Craigslist to pretend to be your parent, you --”
“Okay, stop! Stop!” she cut him off with a wave of her hands, “No, this was...this was a bad idea. You’re not from the future, you’re just some creep.” she started toward him to leave the room, but he blocked her; at this point desperate for her to believe him. Her eyes flicked over his stance and he relaxed a bit so she would know he wasn’t going to try anything, “If you’re from the future, why don’t you just go back to it?”
“I can’t.” it came out softer, more broken than he meant for it to, “I’m stuck here. My suit malfunctioned and the only person who can help is Tony and he...I just...I was hoping you could help me too.” he met her eyes, seeing how they widened slightly. She didn’t respond, but he continued anyway, “Q, I know you’re a little bit curious about all this.” he called her out, seeing it in her eyes. She hesitated for a moment before scoffing,
“And how do you know that? Cause you’re from the future?” she made a face and said the last word a bit weirdly. He took in a breath, wanting to say something else, but then the bell rang. He deflated a bit, knowing he had missed his chance and might have fucked everything up even more than before, “Just stay the fuck away from me.” she told him lowly and there was an underlying threat to it that gave him a glimpse into the Q that Dawson described to him way back when. The feral, dangerous one that wouldn’t hesitate to ruin someone’s life without lifting a single finger.
So he let her go. He had to let her go.
And he didn’t see her for days. Yes, she was supposed to be out of school, but even after that she didn’t reappear. A part of him thought that the night she ended up in jail had already passed, but the news hadn’t reported anything yet.
He re-focused on getting back to the correct timeline. Now more than ever he longed for his Q. The one who loved him unconditionally. Who’d believe him no matter what and who’d always be by his side. He wanted to go home.
The only person who could help him was currently in town for some sort of conference. He hadn’t read the details but knew where it was; some fancy hotel in Manhattan. Steve had planned to take the train there, walking to the station with the suit and the other stones in a duffel bag. All he needed was a few minutes with Tony. If he could just get him alone and tell him about the suit, he knew it would be enough to pique Tony’s interest. The mere mention of time travel was enough to get Tony involved the first time around.
As he walked, a car pulled up beside him, slowing to keep pace with him. He glanced into the car to see Q in the driver’s seat. His surprise clearly showed on his face because she gave him a slight smile.
“What? This didn’t happen in the future?” she asked. He let out a slight laugh and paired it with a shake of his head,
“This is still the past.” he reminded her. She made a face and let out a noise of annoyance.
“Whatever. Do you want a ride to the hotel or not?” he stopped walking, turning to face her fully.
“How do you know where I’m going?” his brow furrowed and she gave him another one of her trademark smiles.
“You may be from the future, but I can see into the future.” she joked, making him roll his eyes, “You said you needed to get your suit fixed and then mentioned Tony...aka Stark who’s at a hotel in Manhattan right now.” she rattled off, voice taking on the familiar medical tone it always did whenever she explained anything. He didn’t hide his proud smile as she stopped the car fully so he could get in.
The drive was quiet for a few minutes, but he could tell she was itching to say something. He glanced over at her, having another weird sense of deja vu; she always drove him everywhere when they lived in DC and here she was...doing it again.
“Say what’s in your head.” he prompted with the familiar phrase. She glanced over to him with a small smile,
“Sorry, sorry, I’m just...thinking about the stuff you said in the classroom the other day.” she admitted. He ducked his head down to look at his lap.
“Right, yeah, I’m sorry...I probably went a little overboard.”
“No! No you didn’t.” she shook her head, “It’s just...we aren’t just friends, are we?” she asked with a pointed glance to his left hand where he wore his wedding ring. A slightly embarrassed laugh escaped from him and he felt his cheeks burn.
“No...we’re...we were co-workers for a bit at SHIELD, you were assigned to me to help me ease back into the modern world, but then we became friends. We started dating after SHIELD collapsed…” he paused as he came up on their period of separation, deciding that if he was telling her the story, he was going to tell her everything, “Ended splitting up for a bit, but we found our way back to each other then...we got married.” he told her with a raise of his eyebrows. He watched her face scrunch up in what could be considered disgust,
“I end up marrying you?” her tone was a mix of disbelief and something else, “but you’re like a hundred.” he had to laugh at her reasoning.
“Out of everything I told you, that’s what you’re focusing on?” he asked as she talked over him,
“I mean I’ve always had a thing for older guys, but I mean that’s just...” she trailed off as he lifted his hand up,
“Alright, okay.” he stopped her with a chuckle, “That’s enough, thank you.” she glanced over to him with a small smile,
“Sorry,” she apologized again, “I just...never thought I’d end up with someone like you.” she blushed a bit, thoughts obviously turning to her current relationship.
“You think you’re gonna end up with Spencer?” he asked plainly, making her mouth drop into a small o. Before she could retort, he continued, “I think you should get rid of that guy.” she let out a bemused laugh,
“Of course you do!” she laughed again, “Obviously my future husband is not gonna want me to be with my current boyfriend.” he shook his head, pushing his jealousy aside for a moment.
“No, that’s not it.” he almost sarcastically said, “There’s more to it than that.” she glanced at him, noticing the tone of voice his statement took on. Taking in a breath, he dove in, “I know what happens at the facility.”
“What facility?” she asked and for a moment, he thought he was too early or had messed up the details, or was even planting the idea to do what she did in his head, but he pushed on,
“The facility SHIELD uses to house their drugs.” he simply put it, noticing how her grip on the wheel tightened, “You’re already planning it, aren’t you?” he asked with a flick of his eyes to her face. She didn’t respond so he continued, “Listen, I just...something’s gonna go wrong. The cops’ll show up early and he’ll leave you there. And you’ll be put in prison.” his stomach knotted up at the memory of her recounting the story of that fateful night to him.
“No, no, that’s not true.” Q shook her head, eyes blinking rapidly as if to stop tears from falling, “No, I planned everything out. There’s not gonna be any mishaps or cops or -- he’s not gonna leave me, okay!?” Steve put his hands up to defend himself from her words but she was on a roll, “No, we’re partners. If I go down, he does too and vice a versa. He wouldn’t leave me and make me take the blame! I mean, he can be a dick, yeah, but he -- he loves me. He loves me, right?” she looked at him as if he would have the answers. Steve stayed quiet. She turned her attention back to the road, licking her lips before swallowing,
“Why are you even telling me this?” she asked suddenly, “Doesn’t this fuck up the future? Butterfly effect or whatever?”
“No, no that’s not how time works.” he didn’t want to get into the details of it and quickly tried to smooth things over, “You don’t have to do anything with the information I just gave you. I just know...I know it really hurt you and I’m just trying to save you a little pain and hopefully help you have a chance at a better future.” he finished softly, knowing more than she ever would: SHIELD, Bucky, the snap... She glanced at him again, pulling her bottom lip into her mouth and nodding,
“Okay, yeah…” she trailed off as she looked back at the road.
At the hotel, he left her in the lobby while he went in search of Tony. She paced the length of the lobby while she waited, thinking about the conversation she had with Steve in the car. Everything he had said was a lot to process. The biggest thing being married to him...Captain fucking America. They’d lock her in a mental institution if she started telling people that. But beside that major thing, there were other things that made her reconsider everything.
Sure, the stuff about the facility plan seemed both vague and specific at the same time. And there was an emotion behind it that she couldn’t quite place, but it was one that was genuine and made her believe he was telling her the truth.
Hours had passed by the time Steve finally exited into the lobby again. The event was long over and Q was the only one in the lobby, curled up on the couch, not asleep, just waiting for him. She sat up at the sight of him, noticing the weird white and red suit he was wearing.
“Is that your time travel suit?” she asked, getting a nod from him, “So it works again?”
“Sure does.” she tried to give him a smile but it fell a bit flat. Almost like she didn’t want him to go, “What’s wrong?” he asked, shifting his stance a bit. She shook her head, arms crossing over her chest,
“Nothing, no, I’m just...if what you said is true and I don’t do the facility plan or whatever...what’ll happen to me?” her voice was quiet, almost like she was scared of the answer. She cleared her throat and raised her shoulders up, “Like will I just graduate high school? Go to college or whatever? Will I still meet you? You said we got married and now I...well, I don’t know if I wanna get married but...how do I know I did the right thing this time? Chose the right ending?” she finished, finally meeting his eyes.
“Hey, it’ll be okay.” he assured her, reaching out to place his hands on her shoulders, “The right ending, is the one that you choose.” he told her, keeping his eyes locked on hers, “And this isn’t goodbye, Queenie.”
“How do you know?” she asked back in a small voice. He gave her a half smile,
“Cause I’m from the future, remember?” he pointed out. She rolled her eyes at that, making him grin fully. Before he could stop himself, he pulled her in for a quick, tight hug -- surprised she hugged him back. Then he stepped away from her. It was time for him to go back to his Q.
Q watched as he pressed a few buttons on the wrist device he had attached to the suit. The machine whirred to life and a relieved smile came over his face. He gave her one last look before pressing a button. There was a loud whoosh and a gust of wind blew through the space before everything settled into silence. Steve had disappeared into thin air.
“Fucking time travel.” she breathed out to herself with a slight grin.
The same whoosh that accompanied him when he was pulled back into the time tunnel, filled his ears as he arrived back on the platform in the forest outside the Avengers compound. Blinking a moment, he took in the scene before him. Bruce was at the control table, Sam a few feet away from it and Bucky standing next to him. And then there was Q. Right where he left her -- and the appropriate age again. Thank God.
“That was the longest five seconds of my life.” Q dramatically sighed out as Steve stepped off the platform to greet her. She immediately wrapped her arms around him and pulled him in close. Inhaling, she paused for a moment. He smelled differently. She moved her face so she could nuzzle her nose a bit more into his neck as her brow furrowed.
“Is that…” she pulled away to look at him for a moment before leaning in again to take another whiff, “Is that Rush by Gucci I smell?” she asked. The name meant nothing to Steve, which she knew and continued to explain, “I doused myself in the stuff every day in high school to hide the smell of my cigarettes. I ended up just smelling like a nightclub, but it’s a very distinctive smell, Steven.” she gave him a knowing look, “Did you take a detour?” she asked a follow-up question, already getting an inkling of the answer. He adapted a look of innocence, pulling down the corners of his mouth,
“Accidentally.” he responded with a slight movement of his head, “I didn’t mean to end up in Brooklyn in 2004.” her eyes widened at the vague explanation; it was enough for her to know what he was talking about. A big, amused smile broke out across her face,
“Oh fuck.” she breathed out, stepping back to lightly slap him on the chest, “You hung out with eighteen year old me!” she laughed a little, arms crossing over her chest, “So? Impressions? Thoughts?” he looked over her head with a slight smile before looking back at her,
“All I’ll say is that I’m glad I know you now.” he amended, making her roll her eyes at the cop-out answer, “You can be a little...mean.” he supported, but she wasn’t offended in the slightest.
“Yeah, well, what did you expect?” she shrugged and made a face, “You know I didn’t have the best track record.” he gave her an understanding smile, reaching out for her only for him to stop her with a raise of her hand, “You didn’t like… fuck me though right?” she eyed him, squinting a bit as if she could see right through him.
“I did not!” he shot her down, face reddening as he looked over to the others still standing around them. Bucky let out a cough to hide his laugh and ducked his head down as Sam tried to fight a grin, “No, no I just...asked for your help.” Q bit her lip and nodded a bit, still studying him and choosing whether or not to believe him,
“Sure yea, okay…” she trailed off, “I know how I was at eighteen, Steven.” she raised a finger up at him, shaking it a bit, “Veeerrrry into older men.” she echoed her younger self’s comment. He raised his eyebrows up,
“Still are.” he pointed out with a slight smirk of his own and earning groans from the other two men standing around.
“Alright, enough!” Sam called out, annoyance-slash-distaste filtering through. But Q only giggled, stepping into his arms and giving him a searing kiss -- both ignoring Bucky and Sam’s sounds of disgust.
And maybe, when it was all said and done, Steve went back to that alternate timeline. Several years later, of course. Just to see if Q had done anything differently in the years since he left her and if his visit had affected anything at all.
He figured it had, since he found that she was presenting some new way to predict consumers’ buying patterns at some giant marketing conference in New York. While a part of him was a little sad that she never found her way to SHIELD -- to him, he was still happy she was able to get her happy ending. And was still wearing pant suits.
Though after the conference, he did tail her for a bit. Just to see if there was anything else he should know about. And he followed her into a bar, watching as she slid into a booth across from another person who had a very familiar look to him.
Almost like she could sense someone staring at her, her eyes flicked over to where Steve was standing by the end of the bar. Eyes meeting, he froze, unsure what to do. But he stayed where he was, watching her eyes shift to the person she was sitting across from. She said something to her tablemate before getting up from the table and crossing over to the bar.
“Hello again.” she greeted him with a knowing smile, “You look exactly the same.” she teased and he couldn’t help but give her a smile.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have…” he ducked his head down, “I was just curious to see what happened.” he sighed, meeting her eyes again. She gave him a grin, settling her elbows on the bar,
“Well, I didn’t go to jail.” she stated the obvious, “I was on Forbes 30 under 30 and just presented a new tactic that will revolutionize consumer analytics.” she ticked off her list of achievements with a proud smile. He grinned back at her, just as proud of her as she was of herself.
“That’s really great, Q.” he congratulated her, “I’m happy for you.”
“Oh, and --” she held up her left hand and wagged her ring finger so he could see the ring on her finger. It was eerily similar to the engagement ring that his Q wore on her finger back in his time. He raised his eyebrows and glanced to the person in the booth, brows furrowing cause was that really how the back of his head looked?
“That’s not you.” she answered the question in his head per usual, “That’s my friend, Dawson.” Steve’s heart jumped to his throat at the mention of his former friend and he didn’t see the knowing look she was giving him, “Assuming a friend of yours too?” she referred back to the fake last name he had used during her high school days.
“Was one of my best.” he answered, voice but a breath. He didn’t realize how much he missed his friend until he was mere feet away from him. All he wanted to do was say hi, hear his voice one last time. Maybe even get a chance to say goodbye. But no, no, he couldn’t fuck up this timeline more than he already had -- was.
“Well, we met during the Battle of New York. How I met you too, actually.” she got his attention again, “You saved my life from a very terrifying alien from outer space.” While her tone was light, she was looking at him seriously. Weird; in his timeline, she had saved his, “Took me a second to realize it wasn’t the you I knew in high school, but…”
“And you still…” he trailed off, hoping he hadn’t forced her to go after an ending she didn’t really want.
“Of course.” she gave him a slightly sardonic smile, “You can’t just tell someone you’re gonna marry them and then think they’re gonna forget about it.” she teased a bit, making him laugh a little.
“I’m sorry, I feel like I fucked everything up. Forced you into a future you might not have wanted.” he spoke his concerns aloud and she shook her head.
“You didn’t. Like you said, I had the option to do the thing with Spencer or not and I didn’t. I chose my future. Not you.” she paused, “The right ending is the one you choose.” she reminded him before taking in a breath, “And besides, I would’ve ended up with you anyway, right?” he nodded, assuming if she took the same path she did, it would end the way he knew. She’d find her way to him sooner or later. She raised her shoulders up at his nod, “Then I guess it was meant to be. In whatever timeline or universe or whatever.” she said matter of factly. He nodded to himself, smiling a bit at the thought.
Throughout all the alternate universes and timelines that existed, they always found each other.

Promises - Part One
Disclaimer: I do not own or claim to own any canon characters in this fanfiction, I do claim ownership of the original characters featured and mentioned in this work. This is an au / alternate timeline fanfiction for the TNT drama Animal Kingdom and will feature characters and events from that show. ( This is a rewrite of promises part one, which i posted a few months ago. I went back and reread it, and absolutely hated it, so here we go, hopefully this is better ). (gifs and photos are not mine unless stated otherwise. this gif belongs to the lovely @demctozdemir and can be found here ).
Summary: Marley Dossier is lost. Her mother has just been arrested, her dead beat father won't pick up the phone, and her grandmother wants nothing to do with her. Unsure of what else to do, she tracks down her childhood friend, J Cody. Little does she know, she's going right back into the world her mother fought so hard to keep her from, and the world that destroyed her family before it even started. | This fanfiction takes place six months after the death of nineteen year old J Cody's mother Julia. J and his best friend Marley have been reunited, though their reunion might bring more heartache than either can handle.
Content Warning: Mentions of Absentee parents, drug abuse, jail/prison, homelessness. | My main character Marley is in a wheelchair, please keep that in mind.
Word Count: 1.5k
The hot California sun beat down on me and my muscles throbbed in protest. He better fucking live here. The house was nice, which made me think I had the wrong place. Those suspicions were confirmed as I approached the front door. An older woman, probably in her sixties, came out the front door before I even had a chance to knock. Dressed in those obnoxious printed yoga pants with short blonde hair and oversized sunglasses she reminded me of one of those "cool" grandma's you saw on tv.
"Can I help you?" She looked me over. Starting at my slightly worn sneakers to my braided hair. She barely stopped to take in the wheelchair, which honestly surprised me.
"I'm sorry, I think I have the wrong place." Turning away, I didn't get far before a familiar voice brought my attention back.
"Marley?" I turned to see him, a smile erupted over my face. It was so good to see him, especially since I hadn't seen a familiar (nevermind friendly) face in over a week.
"Hey J..." He didn't look half as happy to see me as I was to see him.
"What are you doing here?" His question confirmed it. He didn't want me here, and I couldn't help the confusion and hurt that worked its way into my chest.
"Well, you stopped visiting, so I thought I'd come out here, see if you were still alive." I didn't want to tell him the real reason, not yet.
"Uh, Smurf...This is Marley, she and I grew up together." He introduced me to the older woman, who'd taken a step closer to me. She reached out her hand, and I offered mine. She didn't shake it, instead, she just gave it a gentle squeeze and gave me a smile.
"He's being modest. Our moms actually used to do smack together."
"Marley, this is my grandmother. Smurf." Shit, I just insulted this woman's dead daughter. Instead of appearing insulted, she just nodded, her smile growing slightly before letting go of my hand.
"You kids hungry? I'll go and make you two something to eat." Before either of us could answer, she disappeared into the house.
"So did you really come all this way just to check on me?" He questioned once she was gone. I contemplated lying to him but realized there wasn't any use, he'd have seen right through it.
"It's a long story, so I hope you've got time."
"Credit card fraud? How did that even happen?" I'd just got done telling him all the gory details of my mom getting arrested and charged with credit card fraud. We were sitting in the backyard, his feet dangling in the pool. "And this all happened two months ago? Why didn't you call me?"
"I tried. Your number was disconnected or something." I leaned back in my chair, looking him over for a moment. "She was dating this guy Jimmy, you know, the manager at the restaurant. He's a real piece of shit. He was running some fraud scheme and she got caught up in it." I wasn't defending my mom. She'd been stupid, but if Jimmy hadn't dragged her into his shit she'd have never been arrested. "Her lawyer's advising she take a plea deal."
"And how much time is she looking at?" His question had an answer I didn't want to think about.
"Five years. Minimum." I sighed, leaning forward. "I can't believe this shit. The relapse, now this."
"Relapse?"
"Oh. I didn't tell you about that." I took a deep breath, staring down at my hands. "Yeah, about five months back, less than a month after your mom died...I got a call from the hospital. She relapsed. Clean eight years and then that shit."
"Why didn't you call me?"
"Cause your mom just ODed and died. You had enough stuff to deal with." I finally glanced up at him. "Besides, we weren't really talking."
"Where are you staying?" He asked, changing the subject, which I was grateful for.
"I was staying with Claudia. But she kicked me out after realizing I wasn't going to be able to pay rent." Claudia, my grandmother (if one can even call her that) hadn't wanted me there in the first place. "Rita let me stay at her place, but her grandkids needed the room cause her daughter got evicted. I tried contacting Charlie-" My dead beat dad. "But he didn't even bother picking up the phone. So, this past week I've been at that shelter over on Granger."
"Shelter?" He stared at me for a moment. I could almost see the gears in his brain working to solve my problems, something he'd done since we were kids. "What about your uncle Eddie?"
"Eddie's in New Mexico or something. I haven't heard from him in weeks. But don't worry, I'll figure it out." I take his hand in mine, glancing down at his knuckles. Bruised, which wasn't anything new. "You can't fix all my problems J, and I not here because I need you to. I'm here because I've missed you, and I needed a familiar face."
He didn't get a chance to answer before Smurf popped her head out the sliding glass door beside us. "You kids come inside, I've got lunch on the table."
The house was nice. Way nicer than anywhere I've ever lived. Nicer than anywhere J's ever lived too. For as long as I could remember, J's lived in the shitty apartment above the one me and my mom lived in.
"Thanks for the food, Mrs. Cody." I leaned back in my chair, popping the last potato chip on my plate into my mouth. I couldn't help but stare at the place. The kitchen and living room itself was almost as big as my apartment.
"Call me Smurf." She sat down at the table beside me, and I gave her a smile. "And you're welcome." I glanced over at J, who seemed to be watching us closely. I furrowed my brow, and he just shook his head.
"So, how long have you two know each other."
"Almost twelve years." It was so weird to say out loud. "Me and my mom lived in the apartment below him and Julia."
"And how long have you two been dating?"
"We're not." J and I spoke in unison. He looked to each other, a small smile forming on both of our faces.
"We're friends. Best friends." Thankfully, someone opened the sliding door, breaking the awkwardness.
"You fucking asshole." I glanced behind me. Holy shit. The person I should have been thanking for breaking the awkward silence was...hot...And covered in bright orange and blue paint splatters. Dark hair, tattoos, facial hair. I probably should have checked to make sure I wasn't drooling.
"Oh Craig, did your brother shoot you with the paintball gun again?" I didn't have to know Smurf well to detect the mock concern in her voice.
The door opened again, and another guy, blonde, definitely shorter than the other one, and also covered in paint came inside. "Don't even think about crying to Smurf. You shot me first."
"Twice. You literally emptied yours into my back." He turned around, revealing large red welts on his back.
"Don't start shit you can't finish." At that comment, the taller one, Craig, grabbed the blonde around the neck, putting him into a chokehold.
"Boys, enough. Can't you see we have a guest." They stopped, both looking down at me. The blonde just stared a moment, but the brunette managed to muster a small smile.
"Who's this?" He asked, staring at me long enough that I could feel my face heating. Jesus, stop acting like you've never seen an attractive guy before.
"I'm Marley, J's friend." I offered a small smile to both him and the blonde, but neither of them smiled back. Instead, the blonde when to the fridge, and the brunette continued to stare at me.
"Jesus Craig, you look like you've never seen anyone in a wheelchair before," J commented. He's done in it the past, especially when we were in high school. Anyone who looked my way wrong heard it.
The blonde snickered, and the brunette turned away from me, also heading towards the fridge. "What're you making for dinner?" He grabbed a beer, tossing the cap into the sink.
"We're having salmon. Marley, are you staying for dinner?"
"Actually I have to get back." I looked at J, "Do you think you could give me a ride? I'm pretty sure my arms are going to be spaghetti tomorrow from the way over here."
"Do you still live in J's old building?" Smurf asked.
"Actually no." I wondered exactly how much more I wanted to say in front of a bunch of strangers. "I'm actually in-between places right now. There's this...Home, I'm staying at that has a curfew."
"Like a shelter?" She questioned, and before I could answer, "Why don't you stay here until your new place is ready?"
"That's probably not a good idea," J answered before I could.
"Of course it is. You don't want your friend staying in a shelter, do you?"
"I don't want to be a bother."
"Of course not. You're staying, end of discussion. I'll get the couch set up for you. Do you have anything you need to go get?"
"No. All of my stuff is with one of my mom's friends." She got up, leaving the kitchen.
"What just happened?" I asked, watching after her.
"Smurf." J didn't seem happy, "Smurf happened."
