If folks haven't watched Animal Kingdom TV series, it's a really good show worth checking out. 5 seasons of dysfunctional family drama with a side of a few romance storylines and lots of felonies for money.

I liked J finally getting with Lark but I can’t say I’m surprised it didn’t last. Someone wisely pointed out on Primetimer that J’s pursuit of Penny makes sense cause she looks similar to his mom plus J likes to “save” women and Lark didn’t need saving. 🫖 📺

Animal Kingdom: Final Season--Thoughts

Okay, so whenever I mention this show to anyone, most people haven’t heard of it. It is really quite good imo! I remember reading a critic review that said if you like The Sopranos or Sons of Anarchy, then you will like Animal Kingdom! I am going to do my best to keep it as spoiler free as possible, but I will stay right now SPOILERS AHEAD, so if you aren’t caught up, don’t read! Overall, my favorite characters have shifted, which doesn’t happen often. Season one and two, I really liked J, but by the beginning of this season, I knew he was a snake waiting to strike. In the later seasons, I really started liking Andrew aka Pope Cody, who is the eldest of the siblings, twin to Julia (J’s mom). Daran, the youngest brother, was a constant favorite though in every season. I like where they have the scenes that go back and forth between past and present since it nicely lays out a trail of bread crumbs as to what is going to happen. Or what you can assume to happen. I don’t know about other people, but I tend to be pretty good at guessing on the endings of shows and movies, so any twists that they were throwing into this I wasn’t too surprised about. How it turned out was really rather bitter. It doesn’t end on a high note for anyone! The final song they chose to play while playing the final scenes of each character was stellar and thought it fit the tone so well! I will have to go and look up the name, but it was a song I don’t recall hearing before. I can’t remember the last TV show that I watched start to finish that actually made me sad at the end. Not “Boo-hoo, I’m crying” sad, but more like “Gee, that was a real downer.” type of sad.
