because at the end of the day it’s about how love and hate will destroy you equally. it’s about the fact that merlin and morgana both lost themselves because they became so consumed by their love and hate respectively that it made everything else not matter. because merlin loved arthur so much he hollowed himself out for the sake of it and morgana hated uther so much it ate her alive and became all she was

bruce didn't take the cowl off even in steph's final moments. not even then did he trust her with his face. he didn't give leslie any way to contact steph's mother, either -- presumably because the writers forgot she even had one or didn't think anyone would care. but i remember and i care. so in her final moments, steph was with a man in a mask whose lack of trust in her messed with her head and ruined her life, still begging to be acknowledged by him, to be called worthy, to be called real. and she deserved her mother to hold her hand or tim but bruce deserves to sit with that moment the rest of his life.

i love dbda but i also love fashion history so i was very triggered when edwin said emma died in the late 1800s when she very clearly died in the mid 1800s
i would say the 1850s but the latest she could’ve died was in the 1860s
Tumblr media
i used this as the reference because you can’t see her full outfit in the show. it’s not very historically accurate but it is clearly 1850s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just look at how similar they are. you cannot tell me she isn’t from the 1850s which classifies as mid 1800s not late 1800s edwin

"are you asking me or making me?" is soooooo interesting to me because i think armand only asks it when he can't gauge whether he's letting louis down. it's barely even sexual - it's a hail mary. it's a show of trust, indirectly admitting that he wants to do something other than what louis expects of him, but that he's willing to obey louis anyway, for the sake of their relationship. it's sort of heartbreaking watching them at the sacré-cœur, because if louis had said "i'm making you" armand would've done it in a heartbeat. he would've taken it as a show of committment on louis' part, and he wouldn't have betrayed him. but louis takes the question just as an expression of disagreement, and so he doesn't play the game. ironically, he respects armand's independence too much to make him turn madeleine if he doesn't want to. and so armand isn't convinced of louis' commitment to him, and he betrays him.
and by the time we see them in san fransisco, louis knows what the question means now, and answers "no, arun, i'm not asking" without question. and armand accepts it without complaint, even as it pains him. companionship really is the most important thing in the world to armand, just like it is for lestat, and he's willing to do any number of horrible things to louis and himself just to keep him as a companion, just like lestat. louis' biggest mistake is not realising how to use that to his advantage sooner.

Wilson's expression + body language when he is about to ask House, his best friend for over a decade, to risk his life to save Amber's drives me up the fucking wall.

*I dip my toes into the pool* Idk, I think what's happening with Helluva Boss is still a failure on a storytelling level, even if things are going to be addressed later on.
Even *if* Stolas hypocrisy is going to be addressed later, there's a *reason* people are getting So Mad about what he said during Apology Tour, and that's because the narrative has failed to challenge Stolas' perception of himself and the situation.
Blitz, the affected party, doesn't challenge this despite the fact that he can absolutely challenge the idea that Stolas doesn't look down on him, or just ANY other part of that rant.
Tumblr media
He gets this, thoughtful (?) expression. He's thinking about what Stolas is saying. But doesn't push back with ANYTHING. The A.) The fact he felt objectified B.) How exploitive the book deal was (also, Stolas said the deal was wrong, but now gestures with his book on "support you" was the deal wrong or was it him "supporting" Blitz? You'd think he'd know the difference by now).
He doesn't even push back against the "You couldn't be bothered to come help me" with "My DAUGHTER was getting her VERY RARE, HARD TO BOOK SHOTS AND SHE WAS TERRIFIED" Any ONE of these could've been shown, to push back against Stolas' narrative but it's not. In fact, Blitz buys the premise when it comes to Striker, when Stolas says he sounds like him he says "No I dont!"
And that's only using the instances that Blitz himself could've challenged Stolas' narrative. There are opportunities that Verosika could've done the same, but are equally as passed up on. Her interactions only strengthen the idea that he's correct imo.
All of this makes it seem like Stolas' reality is the correct one, and Blitz's fumbling around isn't a reaction to gaslighting but him being made to look Silly about what he thinks Stolas is doing. And people with long-term memory are very rightly going "Wait...no???"
No amount of "Those will be dealt with" from the creator will make up for the fact that the narrative gives No acknowledgment that Stolas is even objectively incorrect, let alone that he had his hand in the way this shook down.
It's not "good story telling" to be able to use Canon evidence to point out how wrong he was, because those should be the supporting evidence that the show gives us, along *with* the *current storyline we're seeing* showing those nuances, even if it chooses to focus on Blitz's faults at the time.

one of my favorite parts of speculating ahead of the Veilguard is the number of people talking themselves around and around in the loop of "Illario is extremely suspicious and the most obvious choice for who betrayed Lucanis → However, Illario seems like he genuinely cares for Lucanis and seemed sincerely distraught in The Wake → I know in my heart it must be Illario: there is no one else with means and motive → If Illario did it, I understand why given how Caterina has treated him and them, and he has arguably earned a bit of a villain era → The situation is ultimately caused by Caterina and Crow politics and, again, Caterina → I don't want it to be Illario because I want he and Lucanis to have a good relationship given all they've suffered together → However, there is already an existing bitterness between them because of the succession question and in Illario generally because he's seen as lesser → Illario is the most obvious choice"
#so many of us are like it's gotta be Illario I don't want it to be Illario it makes sense it's Illario#It's like... it's a tragic situation because no matter what—even if it is Illario—the root cause is Caterina and she's already dead.#Speaking for myself. *I* keep doing this loop bc even if it was Illario it's hard with what we know so far for me to hold it against him?#Yes he had different choices. Obviously he could have done anything else. But like it isn't just ambition and spite.#Assuming it is him [points at the loop] it feels like a situation fostered by the way Caterina raised and hurt them both.#What methods do you feel you have when the only thing you know is knives and murder?#How else to feel when the cousin you love like a brother eventually convinces himself he doesn't hate the grandmother who ruined you both?#She is only “Caterina” in your mouths and you are “cousin” in his but he is choosing her over you and how else is there to feel?#After all: she's sharpened all your emotions into knives. They're only ever knives.#ANYWAY that got away from me there for a second#I think that's why we're doing this loop. It's gotta be Illario but it being Illario resolves little. It's not a complete catharsis.#It's really the facts of their lives. It's really what Caterina did to them. It's really the yawning pit at the center of House Dellamorte.#Illario Dellamorte#Lucanis Dellamorte#Caterina Dellamorte#Dragon Age: The Veilguard#Dragon Age The Veilguard#Dragon Age#DATV things#DATV spoilers#Veilguard spoilers
