Introduction: Cain Flametongue
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cain Flametongue, formerly known as Brutus Quietflame, is the cub of Gaius Horncleaver and an unremarkable dam who did little for her cub aside from provide him with a younger brother named Jullus nine months after he joined an Iron Legion fahrar.
The cub grew up in a difficult time for Iron cubs with shamanist tendencies, and unlike Augustus, he wouldn't have Gaius' proximity to the fahrar to protect him physically nor through reputation.
He didn't so much take the name 'Quiet' so much as have it foisted upon him by his bandmates to emphasize his nature. He spoke little and stayed to himself. Being a larger sort, and steadily reliable even with his pyromancy, he was a strong lieutenant. This wouldn't last, though, as he was eventually scouted by Flame looking to sow seeds of discord--rumors of Baelfire's aspirations for godhood were known years before the actual ritual, after all, and the Legions needed to be distracted while the shamans worked and studied and prepared.
Brutus took the first opportunity to accept recruitment, leaking details of raids and plans, small things to help Flame with infiltration or avoiding patrols. When he was asked to assist in a strike against Blood and Iron, wiping out several warbands at once, he again eagerly accepted, and personally wiped out his own warband, including his own brother who had been assigned as his guard.
Though Flame appreciated him, and seemed to offer opportunities for his growth and development, once again, this wouldn't last, as eventually, the Citadel of Flame would take place and Gaheron would be slain by the commander and his comrades. Knowing Brutus' ties to Horncleaver--and having conveniently not been present at the slaughter of shamans--it was assumed that he had been playing the long con. Brutus was tortured: his tongue was burned out when it became evident that he wouldn't talk, and eventually it became clear he would be killed.
So he killed them all first, flaming arrows finding their marks and white-hot illusions luring his captors to their deaths. Finally free, Brutus cast off his name and ties, and swore vengeance on the name that's plagued him all his life, Gaius Horncleaver.

Hi! I’ve been trying to make an introductory post for my WoL, but when I tried doing so freeform it ended up overly long and full of rambling. I’ve searched for templates all over the internet, but the only ones I can find are in the general style of D&D character sheets that include irrelevant information about stats while not properly dedicating space to the actual character traits. I saw the format you used for your OCs, and it seems to be about what I’m looking for. Is there any chance you could provide a blank template along those lines for me and others who might have the same problem?
Funnily, while I keep them all similar, I didn't have a template before now. Also reminds me I need to do some updating and revision on my own OCs, it's been awhile and they can use a refresh for character and plot updates.
I recommend making static pages over posts; easier to track and edit. I am a stickler for organization, so keep my pinned post to the bare basics with links to the profiles and other pages, to keep from stretching the post to a mile long, in part, and to keep the info where it's easily read and relevant. Also because mobile app view won't show one's theme and links, and the pinned post is more likely to be seen and accessible than a sidebar or menu.
I have tutorials on how to set a custom theme (and access full blog features) as well as how to create those static blog pages. Tumblr may have made some updates since, but the gist is the same, and the Help pages have newer details if necessary.
I do urge keeping colors and format simple, accessible, and reader friendly, including screen reader friendly. A row of asterisks or tildes as a separator line are usually individually read out by screen readers, as is the code used to make those fancy hard-to-read gothic letters folks use for "aesthetics." In a lot of my profiles, I split sections with images of the character (which should also use alt text if we're trying to be kind and inclusive, and it's to the point of a profile page anyway).
I think I will put the intro and template here in the post under a cut, and then in a Reply Comment add a link to the Google Doc version, cuz of how Tumblr is about external links. An actual blank copy-pasta is on the GDoc, what's below has some thought processes for each section for guidance.
This a pretty modular template, that can be added to or subtracted from as needed. Move descriptive blocks around as they seem more or less relevant for your OC, substitute things that make sense over things that don’t; this is just a starting point!
I see these as broad strokes; a quick introduction and general overview of your character, meant to give an at-a-glance idea of who they are. It’s handy for other writers and artists, and even oneself for keeping track of some details. I recommend practicing succinct writing here; these blocks should each stay between 100-300 words or thereabouts. Use links to other pages and tags to point toward longer details and stories (and keep them handy for yourself!). It also makes it much easier when you want to revise things when characterization marches forward, or if you want to retcon something entirely.
But these are all just my opinions and ideas on how I approach OC profiles after making them in some form or another for about a quarter century. Make it as long or short as it needs to be, change it up, go nuts, I ain’t your mom, and so on 😉
-
Statistics: The basics; barebones, at-a-glance stat blocks, handy for quick reference. Can be added to or shortened as needed. If a stat starts to word wrap on a standard screen, trim it and move that extra detail to the “Description” paragraph below the list.
Race: (for FF14 fantasy possibilities) Nationality: (or Ethnicity, whatever works. Where are they from, as that helps shape them?) Height: (both feet/inches and centimeters are handy here) Eyes: Build: (I prefer this to weight, as that’s ridiculously variable depending on one’s build, which is more important visually anyway; are they broad, stocky, skinny, muscular, stringy, etc) Hair: (color, type, texture, preferred lengths and styling) Skin: (sometimes I fold scars into here, if there’s nothing too outstanding) Scars: Voice: (how do they sound?) Nameday: Age: (depends on your personal timeline for your OCs, but I recommend an age range over specifics; mid-20s, 25-35, late teens, a little over a century, etc. Less updating and fits with the handwaved time bubble anyway) Disciplines: (what are their main job[s]? The adventuring or professional skills they’ve learned?) Hobbies: Birthplace: Current Home: Occupation: (Their actual day job, different from or part of their disciplines?) Signature Items: (A particular weapon? A piece of jewelry? Always wear a specific coat?)
Description: A very short "immediate impressions" type description; what would someone "on the street" see when meeting/looking at your character on a typical day? Taking some of the info from the stats but then how you want those barebone facts to be seen; is the OC elegant, or rough? Expensive clothes or simple attire? Any particular smells, or sounds? I recommend around 100 words.
Biography: Very brief, general overview of the backstory that led them to the point where they become a story protagonist (adventurer, the WoL, or other roleplay archetype). Don't have to go into great detail, keep it short and simple; it's a blurb that sets up how they got here in broad strokes. I think my longest bio is around 300 words, and it probably shouldn’t go over that here.
To get more details, one can always link to specific stories, or to a tag. I have multiple OCs, so I might make my tags something like "Aeryn Backstory" or "Iyna Lore" or "Punchy History" or some combo thereof (I usually try to keep them consistent though for ease).
Persona: What face do they present to the world? How are they perceived by the public, acquaintances, coworkers, family, actual friends? Some of these answers will be the same, some may change depending on if and how they code switch in various social situations.
From there, what lies underneath the surface? What are some general internal attitudes, traits, feelings?
A hundred words for outward demeanor and another one hundred for innermost self ought to cover the general broad strokes.
Romance: If so inclined, details about the OC's relationship details; sexual and romantic orientations, relationship history, current situations, how they view and approach intimacy (or not!).
Links to relationship tags or stories or art can work well here, too.
Echo: Does the OC have an Echo at all? Is it a "typical" Echo, or do they have some special abilities, some things they're better at than others? How does it affect them, how do they feel about it?
This is another section that may be a free space section to remove or swap to something else relevant to the character.
Hobbies: The stuff outside of work and heroics. Ways they relax, special interests, side jobs, things they enjoy, and so on. This can be an expansion of the listing in the stat block, or you can cut out one or the other to avoid redundancy.
Companions: What’s their chocobo like, or do they have another favored mount? What pet(s) do they have? Are they practically a Disney Princess? Have a familiar? Do they prefer arcane entities? Technological constructs? Or do they eschew companions entirely?
How to find the OC in game: This is where I list things like realm and data center, and addresses for the FC house and personal house or apartment. Not necessary if you don't want folks to go looking.
Links: The links can be scattered through the post in relevant sections, or gathered together here. I tend to put my basic tag for the character, if I have an aesthetic tag for them, their story tags, any links to art references or other miscellaneous items I want easily found for myself and others. I often put this close to the top if a profile is longer and I want those links to be quick referenced.
OOC: Any particular notes one wants to make about the character from a meta perspective. Can also be combined with the Links.

So I was poking around through my followers list and I noticed that there are a few of you who have no title, no profile picture, no custom site and no bio who do have enough likes to make me think you might be a real person and not a bot. If you are indeed a real person, please read this post.
If I click on you and your blog looks like this:
Tumblr media
you look like a bot, yes even if you have a substantial amount of likes.
It is very easy to make yourself look human, and because I'm feeling helpful and chatty today, I'm going to show you how to do that, with screenshots. I even went on this site in safari where I don't have dashboardunfucker set up to take these screenshots, so you know I'm feeling good today.
Step 1:
In your sidebar go to "account" highlighted in blue below:
Tumblr media
Step 2:
Select your blog in the drop down. (There are a bunch of blogs on mine because I have multiple junk side blogs.) For the purpose of this exercise I made a brand new blank one called imtotallyabot56789.
Tumblr media
Step 3:
Go to "blog settings" in the right hand sidebar. This will take you to a new page.
Tumblr media
Step 4:
On that new page, select "edit appearance".
Tumblr media
Step 5:
Get to editing! I've highlighted for you the 4 most important things you need to change to not be a bot.
Tumblr media
Those things are:
your icon
your header
your title & bio
you banner/bio colors
Some notes:
Your banner can be a .gif, a .png or a .jpg. It is best at a 16:9 ratio. I can't remember how big mine was, but a little bit bigger is better so that it displays decently on desktop and on mobile.
Your icon/profile picture should be a square. I think it displays at 128x128, but I don't know for sure. Use a bigger image than that though. Mine is apparently 886x886 at 72 ppi. Don't pick a photo of yourself unless there's something interesting about it (ie: you're in cosplay or something) because a regularass photo of a person looks like a bot as well. If you don't know what to pick, you can head over to picrew and use an icon generator there to create an icon. There are a lot of fun options. If you want to design your own and don't have photoshop or something like that, check out photopea which is an in browser photoshop clone. Have fun with this -- pick a character you like or a pretty image. Like whatever you want just don't stick with the default one. Use either a jpg or a png.
Your title doesn't have to be that deep. Or descriptive. A lot of people use lines from books, music, poetry, tv or movies for theirs. Mine is related to Elizabeth Warren ("Nevertheless She Persisted"). I've previously used "Death Cannot Stop True Love" and "This could be a little more sonic"
Your bio also doesn't have to be long or, like describe anything super detailed about you. The beauty of tumblr dot hell is that it is one of the more anonymous social media sites out on the internet. You could literally just put something like "Fandom Lurker". Just have something.
The banner/bio colors just change the color of the border around your header image/icon "background" and the accent color.
Step 6:
Some additional basic (optional) things to do:
Enable "Custom Theme". This gives you an actual website rather than the dumb little tumblr dot com/blog/yourblognamehere thing that you get by default. The advantages to having an actual yourblognamehere dot tumblr dot com website are numerous. I made a whole post about that with instructions on how to do that. (note that the screenshots in that post were made before the tumblr layout change that was tumblr staff copying twitter's homework). A big benefit to having your own site is that it is easier to find tagged posts on a site because the default search that tumblr has on the /blog/yourblognamehere thing is hot flaming garbage and pulls posts that don't have that tag whilst also missing ones that do. with a yourblognamehere dot tumblr dot com site you can simply go to yourblognamehere(dot)tumblr(dot)com/tagged/mycooltag and see all the tagged posts. Dooo this. you know you want to doooo this.
Tumblr media
2. Open your ask box and turn off tumblr affiliate links. Asks can be fun. They can also be terrible. You can always turn them off later if you decide that people are being mean to you. Personally I have not had that problem in the 12 years I've been here. Maybe it's just the relative obscurity of this blog? who knows. glad for that though.
Tumblr media
3. Add some featured tags.
Tumblr media
This is a newer setting but I think it's fun. If you make posts (or reblog lots of posts) you can add a few tags that you use very often to this as little shortcuts for people visiting your blog.
Whew! That's all for today folks! Thanks for coming to my tumblr how to for newbies talk. I'll probably post another tumblr for newbies chat at some point.
with love and light,
💚 your local internet crazy lady slash tumblr oldtimer
Be kind to yourself and someone else today!

Looking for RP Partners
So I just remade my blog into this. I used to be bonafidecatlady on all socials but it seems that it's starting to lose it's vibes so...
Please also refer to the 4 dots on my sidebar for my tags and pages.
• My name is Mary. 33 years old. Loved, lost and experienced shit.
• My OTP and wanted for ship (to no one’s surprise) is: my anya x your bill; I’m very open to others. This pinterest board has some of my other favorite face claims.
• Looking for partners 25+ ys old preferably. Very mature content. Smut involved. • My username is bonafidecatlady on discord. Add me away and say hi. Just let me know where you found me and your blog/personal server. • I’m Brazilian, don’t expect perfect English grammar or punctuation. • I 99% of the time will only play double ships {mumus}  (ill play a male and a female), unless ofc you’re a male only player. • plot twists give me life. feel free. • I don’t do long paragraphs. I usually do two tops so it gets the topic flowing and fast to reply. I’m a Vet irl so my time is kind of limited. • My favorite things to write: crime (bike gang, con artists, stuff like that), dystopian situations, fantasy (royalty based/witches), horror (vampires and werewolves) and lore based on tv/movies (pls don’t confuse this as me wanting to reenact them).  • I like me some good old romance but it definitely needs to have some bigger plot to aim for and I’m too anxious to play enemies to lovers for too long (but love it), fair warning lol • I enjoy adding random drama/surprises however big or small on both mine and my partner’s characters (w/ consent) • I enjoy being friends with the people I rp with, knowing just a tiny bit makes me more at ease to write as I like. • I love getting and giving excited messages, pinterests, playlists, quotes, etc and I love doing it too • I don’t mind fading to black but I like writing smut. • I like multiple plots in the same world/reality where the stories can interconnect. I also like creating “disposable/NPC” characters that make appearances just to enrich the plot.

~
General Info
What is UraIchi Week?
It’s a week-long fanworks event to promote the Urahara Kisuke x Kurosaki Ichigo ship. There’s no sign-up, it’s just for fun, and everybody can participate. Completed works and wips are both acceptable, and any type of fanwork (fanfic, fanart, gifsets, etc.) is welcome. NSFW and/or potentially trigger-y content is allowed, although please remember to tag your works properly.
The ship itself can be written romantically or platonically so long as it stars these two characters together in some way. Poly ships are also fine so long as Ichigo and Kisuke are still the focus of the fanwork. And crossovers and fusions are also allowed even if it isn’t one of the given prompts for the event. Basically, anything goes, and the only criteria is that it has to be UraIchi-centric.
Posting:
For those of you with Tumblr, you can tag your stuff with #UraIchi Week 2023 in the first five tags of your post. I’ll be tracking that tag so I’ll see it and reblog it to this blog. (If it’s been a few days since you posted and I still haven’t reblogged it, something probably went wrong, Tumblr’s not always reliable, so just shoot me an ask about it and I’ll reblog it.)
For those of you with AO3, I will create a collection a day or two before the event starts, and you’ll be able to add your work to the collection when you post. (I’ll toss up a notice for everyone once the collection is up.)
And of course we have our Discord server (link is on the sidebar) so if you want to come and talk about what you’re working on or you just want to chat, feel free to join us there!
At this point, the UraIchi Server has definitely gotten a lot bigger than just UraIchi, but we do still have channels dedicated to UraIchi events.
~ Themes
The votes are in and tallied so here are the results that everyone’s been waiting for! It’s your choice whether or not you want to make a fanwork that includes all the themes of that day, or a fanwork for each theme, or a fanwork for just one. You can make something for each day of the week or just one or two days. And if your fanwork doesn’t fit any of the themes, there’s a Creator’s Choice option on the last day so feel free to bring your own ideas to this event. All prompts can be interpreted any way you want as well, it’s entirely up to you, any extra bits I’ve added is just to help get those inspiration bunnies hopping.
An extra note about the sentence prompts: feel free to change the tenses and pronouns as it suits you. If you’re inspired by a sentence prompt, then of course you should include it in your fic (as opposed to the quote prompts which are just inspiration in a general-theme-of-your-work sort of way), but if you need to change the tense from present to past, or if you’re doing a genderbend fic and need to change the pronoun, that’s perfectly fine.
And now here are the prompts:
June 26th, 2023 - Day 1: the passage of time is a game-changer, for better or for worse
Time Travel AU / Dimension Travel AU
"At this point, I've died so many times, once more isn't going to make a difference."
Post-Canon AU
"This isn't your responsibility." / "It isn't yours either."
June 27th, 2023 - Day 2: o if only the dead could speak— you would hear the stories they could tell, of the terrible things we did for love
Loyalty Kink
"Him or the world? That's easy."
Oaths / Vows
"Everything I've ever let go of has claw marks on it." - David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest
June 28th, 2023 - Day 3: is there really so great a difference, between man and martyr and monster?
vs. Gotei 13 AU
"You could at least keep your pet killer on a leash."
Mafia AU
"Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you look when considering violence?" - Terry Pratchett, Going Postal
June 29th, 2023 - Day 4: i was never human to begin with (you made sure of that)
Feral
Eldritch/Horror/Supernatural Elements AU
Binding Contracts
"Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?" - Friedrich Nietzsche
June 30th, 2023 - Day 5: our love was forged across battlefields (we fought for every bit of it, every single day)
Soulmates AU
"I want you to stay. Am I still not being clear enough?"
Arranged Marriage AU
"We accept the love we think we deserve." - Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
July 1st, 2023 - Day 6: redemption or destruction— which one will you be to me?
Touch-Starved Character(s)
"I've forgotten how to be kind."
Mask
"I desire the things that will destroy me in the end." - Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
July 2nd, 2023 - Day 7:

Wayfarer Dev Log 2022.07.02.
Hi friends,
Happy July! Episode 2 is now out publicly, I hope you all have been enjoying your playthroughs. A lot of things happened in June, but before we get to the recap, I have a few announcements to make:
✦ HIATUS
By the time this post goes up, I am officially on hiatus. This means I will not be working on Wayfarer or any of its supporting materials for an entire month. I have limited internet access, so I will not be regularly checking my inbox and answering asks, or maintaining my social media.
My inbox remains open, but it will take me a while to answer. The ask guidelines have been updated; please take a look at them before sending in an ask. In brief:
I am not currently accepting asks asking for help with writing, Twine, coding, or interactive fiction design. Any asks requesting help sent during my hiatus will be deleted.
I am not giving public gameplay guides or walkthroughs. If you need help triggering a specific scene or outcome, ask your fellow players!
✦ ITCH.IO COMMUNITY
Wayfarer now has a community forum on itch.io! This is located at the bottom of the page (where comments used to be). The forum is moderated and you are welcome to use it to discuss the game.
✦ PATREON
This month there will be a lore extravaganza on my Patreon! Every week I will be publishing two lore posts on Episode 2 characters, alongside with previews of Episode 3. There is also a character sheet template for Wayfarer MCs.
These resources are exclusive to Patreon and are available to patrons of all tiers.
✦ 100,000 Browser Plays
Earlier in June, Wayfarer reached 100k browser plays! This is incredible and I cannot express how touched and thrilled I am that the game has reached this many people. Thank you so much to everyone who has played the game. 💕
Tumblr media
✦ THE PUBLIC BUILD [VERSION 1.1.2. Patch 2.0]
Episode 2 was released on July 1st. You can read about the episode release here. A few important points:
The whole game (Prologue, Episode 1, and Episode 2) is 927k of total cumulative content. An average playthrough is approximately 156k, or around 8.5. hours of gameplay.
If your save file is from September 2021, you MUST start a new file.
Launch the game from a fresh tab or window (if you keep the game running in a tab over multiple days, you will not be playing on the newest file)
Do not launch the game in incognito mode
If you encounter errors at launch or issues with saves, please read Troubleshooting Game Launch & Save Errors
Use Save to Disk to save to your device rather than your browser. This will prevent save data loss if your browser clears its history and you lose your browser saves.
Bugs can be reported through the form here. They will not be addressed until August. Please do not submit bugs through my tumblr askbox.
If you missed it, Patch 1.7. added the ability to change your pronouns during the game. See this post for more info.
✦ THE ALPHA BUILD [VERSION 1.1.2. Patch 2.0.]
The alpha build currently contains the same material as the public build. There will be no new content added to the alpha until August.
Episode 3 is in development and is currently around 66,000 words. There is no Episode 3 content in the alpha build yet.
Tumblr media
✦ ON THIS BLOG
I did an interview with @interact-if for Pride month. You can read it here!
A quick tutorial on how to change the size of the default SugarCube sidebar
✦ ON PATREON
In-depth progress reports on Episode 3’s development [all tiers]
Weekly Episode 3 sneak peeks [all tiers]
June Creator Q&A where I answered patron questions about writing, development, and Episode 2 [all tiers]
Article on handling constructive criticism [Apprentice tier and above]
Tumblr media
If you’ve enjoyed Wayfarer, used my tutorials, or would like to support my work, please consider supporting me on Patreon. Patrons receive access to the alpha build, private channels in the Discord server, exclusive previews, bonus content, and other benefits.
Wayfarer is a passion project and creating it is a full-time commitment. Any little bit goes a long way to help me bring it to fruition.
If you aren’t in a position to support financially, reblogs, shares, ratings and comments, and spreading the word about the game are much appreciated and do a lot to help me out! 💕

hello everyone! i’m now available for commissions. to make it short, i previously called these “donation requests,” but i’ll call them for what they really are. i’m in medical debt, and i’m trying to survive as a college student, so this reflects the current prices. these will take priority over my other projects when they arise. below the cut, you can see the details!
update: i’m like $6k in medical debt and it’s growing because more medical stuff keeps coming up. i have bills due for school on top of stuff for food and medication. so far some of this stuff has been on a credit card (which has like $1k on it rn), and we all know that isn’t fun. summer is in a few weeks, so please know that my availability will increase!
clicking the source link will take you to my discord server, where you can get the latest news in my resource making adventures!
COMMISSION STATUS: OPEN - 1/5 REQUEST STATUS: OPEN - 2/5 SUGGESTION STATUS: OPEN - 5/?
HOW TO REQUEST COMMISSIONS
IM me on here or through my discord (join my rph server to do so!)
within that message, tell me the FC, SOURCE MATERIAL, WHAT RESOURCES YOU WANT ME TO MAKE, PUBLIC/SEMI-PRIVATE/PRIVATE COMMISSION. i will message you back with the price and if i can even do it!
once we agree, send in the payment. it will be through ko-fi unless you can’t use it. please include a small description so that i can know it was you (like an fc name, just “commission”, or an emoji!)
wait for me to confirm that i have received payment (shouldn’t take long)
send in my form (/form on my blog) so that i will have all the details that i will need to create these resources. please send both of my forms if it’s a commission.
i’ll get back to you as soon as i can!
please let me know if you would like me to keep you updated, or if you would rather be surprised when you open the page i give you with your resources on it.
PRICING AND PAYMENT INFO
generally, it is $2/hour of source material + up to 1/2 the price added if they’re a main character
for example: a 2 hour movie with a #1 lead fc would be 2(2)+2 = $6 ; a 10 episode season with 45 minute episodes with a background fc in every single episode would be 2(.75x10) = $15
for payment, i would prefer a donation to my ko-fi, as linked in my sidebar. if that is not possible for you, please let me know and we can use an alternative!
IMPORTANT INFO & QUESTIONS
HOW MANY GIFS/ICONS WILL YOU MAKE?: i will make as many as i can from this source material. if you feel that it is insufficient for the amount you have paid, please let me know and i will work with you
CAN I MAKE MY COMMISSION (SEMI-)PRIVATE?: you can, but please know it will be extra. the exact amount will depend on the commissioned project as these would not be publicly posted on my account. please let me know as soon as possible if you would like them to be private so that i can add it to your price estimate. you may make it semi-private as well, which will be cheaper than full-private, and allow others to pay a small fee to get it. // the difference between the type of commissions is that with SEMI-PRIVATE, people will have access to it with a fee, with PRIVATE, only you will have access to it, and with PUBLIC, everyone will have access to it after you receive access to it
DO I HAVE TO COMMISSION YOU TO GET RESOURCES?: absolutely not! tips are always appreciated, but you can send in a request or suggestion straight to me anonymously or not! they may take longer depending on how many commissions i have open and my other projects
HOW LONG DO YOU USUALLY TAKE?: it all depends on the time of year! during school, it may take 2-3 weeks, but during the summer/winter, it may only take 1 week
WHAT WON’T YOU MAKE RESOURCES FOR?: anyone on my banned list (/banned), minors (at time of filming), deceased fcs; horror, or things taking place in a high school (unless of non-high school characters)
WHO WILL YOU MAKE RESOURCES FOR?: as long as they’re not problematic or on my banned list - as long as they have a Google sidebar where i can see their age and readily find their ethnicity without conflicting information, i will gladly make resources for them

website update log #7 (April 14th, 2023)
Note: all changes in the site are documented in github now :D
the only reason i havent actually worked on /index is because i cant think of any ideas of what it should actually look like..
my creative juices arent spewing out of my brain and into the site, so i gotta look for inspiration.
and what better site to look for inspiration than... neocities!
Tumblr media
i know that i wont be using this site anymore for site hosting, but i realized that there are so much creative websites in neocities that are just out in the wild so i decided, why not use those sites for my struggling brain to figure out what my website index is supposed to look like
when i was browsing the site for a bit, i came across this site called NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION by sugarforbrains...
Tumblr media
besides the colorful artstyle that i love so much, it made me contemplate some things about this site and mine.
well first, ive seen that same chatbox (the box on the right with the text “WEB SITE DO NOT EAT”) a couple of times now, and im thinking if i should add one as well, but like, there wont be activity for a while since only like 3 people know about this blog and website aghaha
second, im seriously thinking if i should replace the top navbar with a sidebar, as it appears here, since there has been a problem i havent been documenting as much...
...and it was centering the damn top navbar.
Tumblr media
ok now that im actually looking at this it doesnt really look like its a problem since no one is going to use the site at 6400x3200 but it still makes me angry.
but even if i wanted to change the top navbar, thats not what im in neocities in the first place.
i wanted to find inspiration for replacing the “hello” textbox youre seeing now, but now im just getting pissed at something i already finished creating, which was the top navbar!!!
now, back to finding inspiration.
Tumblr media
im not a fan of the grid lookin look, because of how inconsistent it looks, but ill think about it!!
oh btw if you have time, please visit the site!! it looks so visually stimulating its great!!! here
now, onto more exploration!
i found some sites by neoratz and keyzklubhouse (neo's HEAVENWURLD ଘ(ˊ_ˋ) and Key's Klubhouse) that piqued my interest ‘cause of one thing.. can you guess what it is?
Tumblr media
if it wasnt obvious enough, its the characters on the side of the boxes!!! I wanted this thing to be the first thing you see when you enter the site! it felt good that i was actually making progress on this for once, but then i realized that...
i already did this already!!!
on my old site!!!
Tumblr media
its the old me on the old site, on the side of the menu screen! what im planning to do here is that instead of giving one half of the home screen to the image and another half for the text box (which is shown here) im going to make it so that the box is going to be centered, and the character is going to be layered in a way where its still beside the textbox, but its layered!!
this is a visual representation of what i am talking about:
Tumblr media
actually, ill throw another character while im at it:
Tumblr media
probably add one more here just to fill some space:
Tumblr media
ok this should be enough characters:
Tumblr media
now that the overall concept of the first thing you see when you enter the site is finished, i was going to figure out what i wanted to show when yall scroll on the site, but then something just hit me.
i need a way to show the characters. how do i do that.
im actually planning to show one of my characters, slooshi (the icon of the website and my internet persona in general) but how do i present it to you??
this can go two ways. i can either 3d model the character, or draw it. the catch is that they both have to be pixel art as to match the theme of my site...
i could totally go for 3d modelling, with a more low poly 3d look, kinda like the style of pico-cad by Johan Peitz:
Tumblr media
but i want to step outside my comfort zone, which brings me to my second choice, drawing.
Tumblr media
its not like i forgot how to draw people, its just way harder now since i havent drawn actual people in a while. ive been focusing more on 3d modelling, game development, and school that i havent really been practicing on my drawing skills more, which sucks but its what happens...
ill think more about it, but for now i finally figured out what im going to do with the site! (atleast the first part of it...)

There was one person who commented on grrm blog about Dany being their most hated character and hoping she would die. Grrm replied 'tsk tsk'. Do you know about that post?
This one?
Tumblr media
The comment, now deleted, is from this post: Dany and the Dragons - Jul. 8th, 2013.
What about it? Is this about targies clinging to that "tsk tsk" for their lives?
I remember that the user belomor555 wrote that comment as an answer to another user mentioning them, as you can see here:
Tumblr media
I like the conversation under grrm's comment, because those users didn't assume that George was saying he won't kill Dany:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also know that when someone said to George that he’s not allowed to kill Dany, he answered that "Parris has proclaimed that Arya cannot die!" [Source]
Tumblr media
Classic George!
But what is that "tsk tsk" compared to all this:
July 21, 2018
In the earlier published Targaryen family tree as found in The World of Ice & Fire, Princess Daenerys did not exist. In her place was Prince Aeryn Targaryen, Jaehaerys and Alysanne’s sixthborn son who died young. Besides Aeryn having been exchanged for Daenerys, several other children of Jaehaerys and Alysanne were shifted in their order of birth.
Regarding these changes, Elio Garcia has stated the following:
… George had some new ideas for some of the names and the stories of the children who died young, and corrected some issues that came out of his original birth order (we actually got the names of all the kids quite late in the production of TWoIaF—literally a month before we had to finalize the book—so there was not much time to interrogate it). However, the stories of those who live to adulthood, as published in TWoIaF, do remain the same (just, of course, much more detailed).
[Source]
November 20, 2018
Jaehaerys loved all three children fiercely, but from the moment Aemon was born, the king began to speak of him as his heir, to Queen Alysanne’s displeasure. “Daenerys is older,” she would remind His Grace. “She is first in line; she should be queen.” The king would never disagree, except to say, “She shall be queen, when she and Aemon marry. They will rule together, just as we have.” But Benifer could see that the king’s words did not entirely please the queen, as he noted in his letters.
(…)
It was the hour of the owl when Queen Alysanne was awoken by her daughter shaking her gently by the arm. “Mother,” Princess Daenerys said, “I’m cold.”
There is no need to dwell on all that followed. Daenerys Targaryen was the darling of the realm, and all that could be done for any man was done for her. There were prayers and poultices, hot soups and scalding baths, blankets and furs and hot stones, nettle tea. The princess was six, and years past being weaned, but a wet nurse was summoned, for there were some who believed that mother’s milk could cure the Shivers. Maesters came and went, septons and septas prayed, the king commanded that a hundred new ratcatchers be hired at once, and offered a silver stag for every dead rat, grey or black. Daenerys wanted her kitten, and her kitten was brought to her, though as her shivering grew more violent it squirmed from her grasp and scratched her hand. Near dawn, Jaehaerys bolted to his feet shouting that a dragon was needed, that his daughter must have a dragon, and ravens took wing for Dragonstone, instructing the Dragonkeepers there to bring a hatchling to the Red Keep at once.
None of it mattered. A day and a half after she had woken her mother from sleep complaining of feeling cold, the little princess was dead. The queen collapsed in the king’s arms, shaking so violently that some feared she had the Shivers too.”
—Fire & Blood - Volume I
May 19, 2019
Standing before the Iron Throne, Dany steps forward and kisses the man she loves. A perfect kiss, an expression of pure love and passion.
We push in on them until we’re tight on their faces – their eyes closed, his hand behind her head, her hand on his cheek.
Dany’s eyes open suddenly as she draws a sharp breath.
Jon’s eyes open as well, already filling with tears. For a moment, neither moves, as if moving will make this real.
In a wider angle, we see Jon with his hand still on the hilt of the dagger he just lodged in Dany’s heart.
Her strength leaves her and she collapses to the marble; he keeps her in his arms as she falls, kneeling down to the floor beside her.
He looks down at what he’s done. Terrible. And necessary. He hopes for one last moment with her.
But her eyes are already glazing over. Winter has come to the Throne Room. Dany lies dead in his arms, Pieta-style, as the snow drifts down.

WELT: Again: We know what will happen to the Mother of Dragons. How do you want to surpass that in a novel – with an alternative literary version?
GRRM: Counter question: How many children did Scarlett O'Hara have? In Margaret Mitchell’s novel “Gone with the Wind” she had three children. But in the cinema version of the novels she only had one child. Which version is the only one valid - the one with one or the other with three children? The answer is: neither. Because Scarlett O'Hara never existed, she is a fictional character, not a real person, who would have had real children. Or take “The Little Mermaid”. We know her from the fairytale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen and from the Disney movie. Which one is the true mermaid? Well, mermaids do not exist. So you can chose the version that you personally like the best. Changes are inevitable in this process. Even if the adaption is as faithful to the literary source material as it was the case with “Game of Thrones”.
—GEORGE R. R. MARTIN “Die Leute kennen ein Ende – nicht das Ende” - WELT 2020 - (Translation)
April 18, 2021
Q: It is my impression that there are parallels between Westeros history and current events in ASOIAF. so in your opinion to what degree is George martin’s history cyclical? Because we have a lot of parallels. For example with the current history and the dance of the dragons.
Elio: You know George even uses that line from talking about the the arms of house Toland, the dragon eating its tail, but it was from the Archmaester Rigney which is a reference to Robert Jordan the writer of the wheel of time, that history is a wheel or time as a circle. I think George certainly deliberately sees, creates parallels. I mean this is a very obvious example, you know if you read The World of Ice and Fire, you saw the family tree of the Targaryens, and the family tree for Jaehaerys and his offspring changes quite a lot when fire and blood comes out. Because George realized that he wanted to create a kind of parallel by introducing another Daenerys. and he said like, i like the symmetry of it, I like the the sort of the way. You could perhaps read it as reflecting on Daenerys’s story, maybe. I wish it was true. I mean I think fans of Daenerys need to be really worried about what’s going to happen to her. Although I guess Game of Thrones maybe has revealed kind of where things may possibly end. Again the journey is going to be very different. I think you know circumstances, things are going to be very different. So there’s a journey that matters. But in any case, so yes I think George uses cycles and things a bit. He likes setting up parallels of events, he likes paralleling characters, he likes paralleling events, and he likes paralleling the past and the present as well.
Linda: I think certainly that when he fleshed out the details of Fire and Blood, even when he first did the sidebars for The World of Ice and Fire, and they just grew. We could see that, okay here he’s looking at foreshadowing or commenting on current events by doing a similar scenario in the past and he definitely likes to play around with those aspects.

Some Notes on Dramione Fan Fic - My First Text Post!
So I just worked on this as one of the permanent pages on my blog (you can find it in the sidebar menu now) and spent entirely too long on it not to post it here too...three cheers for fan fic!
I do have several Dramione fic ideas and (surprisingly long and detailed) drafts of my own floating around in the ole noggin and hard drive, respectively. For the moment, though, I’m having a blast focusing more on drawing and don’t have enough time outside of work to do both drawing and writing well.
If you’re interested in following my currently empty account on fanfiction.net in case anything cool pops up in the future, go for it and thanks in advance! If I publish I’ll post about it here as well.
To hold you over and/or win you over to this ship in the meantime, here are some amazing Dramione fics by some really amazing people.
Have Read / Would Strongly Recommend:
Clean / Marked by @OlivieBlake
OlivieBlake is truly SO talented. This is a two-part series where you need to read the first (Clean) for the second (Marked) to make total sense, and it is 100% worth every one of the 300k+ words. I laughed. I sobbed. I fell in love with Theo as a character for the first time. Lots of amazing character development all around. This is my current all-time favorite Dramione fic. Hermione is such a badass and the writing will punch you in the gut.
The Fallout by Sage / EveryThursday
This one is truly foundational to the whole ship, but somehow I completely missed it until a friend recommended it in fall 2019. Cue my descent into adopting Dramione as an OTP and creating an entire art blog mostly focused on them, oops. Lots of angst, action-driven, a bit impressionistic in its treatment of time and the progression of Hermione and Draco’s relationship, will 10 out of 10 make you cry. It’s a classic for a reason.
Breath Mints / Battle Scars by @Onyx-and-Elm
Enough angst for you, your mom, your cat, your third cousin twice removed, and the entire rest of the world for that matter. I love that both Hermione and Draco are broken and flawed yet still sharp as a tack in this fic. The storyline will keep you on the edge of your seat, or, in my case, just glued to the couch in pajamas all day binge reading. The dialogue is top notch. U will cri everytiem for Theo also.
Isolation by Bex-Chan
Another classic that's constantly recommended for a reason. This one accomplishes the transition from enemies to lovers very believably in my opinion and does a great job branching out from a sole focus on that dynamic to a broader storyline that incorporates a lot of other characters very well. I really loved the inclusion of Andromeda especially.
Nightmares and Nocturnes by @OlivieBlake
I just like….really really love OlivieBlake’s writing, ok? And this one is extra noteworthy for me to have loved because in general I really don’t vibe with a Hermione who’s lost her mojo in fan fiction. A very creative, unique concept, and OlivieBlake always masterfully fleshes out side characters in a way that makes you care about them deeply.
Currently Reading and Loving:
The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy by Speechwriter / @BatmanSymbol
A work in progress but the writer updates regularly and also posts on Tumblr about it! The storyline is fantastic and the progression of events and writing style both feel very true to the original HP books, which perfectly fills a void left in my heart from having boycotted buying any more JKR merchandise due to her transphobic nonsense. Highly recommend! Let’s sit on the edge of our seats together waiting for more updates!
On the To-Read List / Heavily Recommended by Others:
Manacled by @Senlinyu
(I have avoided this one for a while due to being very very sensitive to descriptions of non-con situations. BUT Senlinyu is lovely, everybody I know who has read Manacled loves it, and I do in fact love The Handmaid’s Tale despite how dark it can be. Planning to dive in soon while also keeping up with Disappearances!)
The Right Thing to Do by @Lovesbitca8
Cruel and Beautiful World by @LenaPhoria (fic is no longer on ff.net or AO3 but a file can be found with some creative googling)
Wait and Hope by @MightBeWriting
The Gloriana Set by ThebeMoon
If you’d like to recommend anything else, well…hey, you’re here so you know how to find me :)

Getting to Know You - Tag Game
I was tagged by the awesome @rinielle!! Thank you for the tag, I had fun doing this. <3
1. Why did you choose your url?
I chose my URL because I’m a fan of Studio Ghibli films. “Susuwatari” refers to the soot sprites that are in Spirited Away, and “kompeito” refers to the colorful star-shaped candy they are fed.
2. Any side-blogs? If you have them, name them and why you have them.
So I started a 2ha sideblog, but I only have one post on it so far and its just a housekeeping one haha. It was in anticipation for the release of HYX/Immortality. However I don’t think I’ll have the capacity to manage two blogs so I decided to just save the URL and have all my mess on my main blog.
3. How long have you been on tumblr?
So I created my blog years and years ago, probably in 2010? But I never used it, and had only a few things posted. In June 2020, I wiped everything and started reblogging The Untamed content.
4. Do you have a queue tag?
I do, but it’s really boring. It’s just “q” because it’s quick and easy to type.
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?
No clue haha. I think it’s because I liked anime and wanted to look at gifs? But again, I never used my blog so I can’t really say for sure.
6. Why did you choose you icon/pfp?
My icon that shows in the dashboard is the manhua version of Jiang Cheng. I chose him because he’s my most favorite MDZS character (since this is a mostly CQL blog) and also my favorite fictional character in general.
I also have an icon on the sidebar of my desktop theme, which is circular gif of HuaLian. I chose that because I love that pairing so much (third-most favorite) and also I wanted TGCF representation on my blog.
7. Why did you choose you header?
I have two headers, one for my dashboard/mobile, and one for my theme.
I recently changed my header (it used to be Jiang Cheng gripping Sandu) to a gif of the Twin Jades from the MDZS donghua. I chose that because I love the character design of them in the donghua. I think they are really ethereal and I love how graceful they are in that scene.
My desktop theme header is a BingQiu gif from the Scumbag System donghua. I chose that as my header because I love that ship so much, I love that scene, and I love SVSSS in general. They are my second-most favorite ship so I wanted to represent them on my blog somewhere.
8. What’s your post with the most notes?
So I just started making my own content like a month ago, so I haven’t had that much time to build up notes (and none of my text posts got particularly big at all). The post with the most notes is this Nie Huaisang birthday edit which has just over 1K notes. Honestly, I was shocked when it reached that number because I didn’t feel that good about the set when I posted it. But the comments in the tags have been super encouraging and I am thankful that people like the set.
10. How many followers do you have?
More than I could imagine! I’m still a growing blog, so I don’t have a whole lot, but I’m thankful for each and every one of my followers.
11. How many people do you follow?
Around 200! I feel like that’s not a lot....but I’m following new blogs pretty consistently.
12. Have you ever made a shitpost?
No, my brain is not big enough for that. Though I have an idea for one...but I don’t think it would be very funny or anything.
13. How often do you use tumblr each day?
Too often. I use it as procrastination.
14. Did you have a fight/argument with a blog once?
Never, because I don’t really get a lot of asks and I only use messaging/askbox/tags for saying positive things. I don’t believe in starting fights, and if someone were to try start one with me...I think I would probably try to diffuse it as quickly as possible.
15. How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this post’?
I don’t feel one way or another, I just simply scroll past. If people choose to reblog it, that’s up to them.
16. Do you like tag games?
Yes! It’s a fun way to get to know others.
17. Do you like ask games?
I’ve never done any because I don’t think I would get any asks...haha. But I do think they are fun, and would consider doing them in the future as I grow my blog.
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
Hmmm....not really sure how to answer this question. A few of my mutuals I think are popular within the fandom, but idk what “famous” means in terms of Tumblr.
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual?
Not in the literal sense! Just “their content is super nice I look to them for inspiration and they seem to have a nice online presence.”
20. Tagging some newer mutuals: (don’t feel pressured to do this!)

tag gamé
tagged by cristen (@kiyomie) thank you so much 🥺 love you!
Why did you choose your url? because of toooshiii, only intellectuals who watched gintama will understand 💅
Any side blogs? only my first ever (& previous, one piece) blog, which is now inactive and i'm thinking of deleting it
How long have you been on tumblr? ooff, like 7 years?? that's a lot, damn.
Do you have a queue tag? used to (#queued) but i got lazy of keep tagging it haha
Why did you start your blog in the first place? i used we heart it back then and saw that most of the gifs & edits came from here so i decided to use it :3 and months later i decided to make gifs/gfx too!
Why did you choose your icon? cuz gintoki eating desserts and being happy & flustered about it >>>>>
Why did you choose your header? i love RJ so much ;A; it's a character created by Jin of BTS, and it's so freaking cute how much he loves them and ofc you start to love them too, so yeah. and the one in my blog (website, which is more a sidebar lol): i'm in love with seokjin, he looks stunning singing his beautiful vocals.
What’s your post with the most notes? beats me lmfao, idk. maybe this gotg gif set? (is the only one i remember lol) made it when i was hooked with those movies
How many followers do you have? 1.7k amazing people uwu (don't know why you following me but tysm~)
How many people do you follow? 251 beautiful people (i need to follow more tho ;A;)
Have you ever made a shitpost? nope, i'm not that funny sfhdgsfahds
How often do you use Tumblr? like twice a week? depemde (mexican meme)
Did you have a fight/argument with a blog once? ooff, one of my worst experiences in here, haha (and my anxiety made it worse :c). it was in my previous blog and i received a lot of anons accusing me of copying certain blog's graphics when ofc i never did, so i went to the blog whom i "copied" and decided to talk about it with them in private (cause i liked them and didn't want to have problems with them ;w;). they told me they also received a lot of anons saying the same. and well, at the end, everything was fine, they undestood it was only lies so didn't take them seriously and answered one of those anons defending me. now that blog and i are friendos <33
How do you feel about “you need to reblog this post”? hmm depends? when it's kind of: "reblog if your blog is a safe place for...", i don't do it, cause i think my blog it's obviously a safe place for everyone since i've never posted any harmful things for any community (and i never will). and, when it comes to share important information about any situation so we can help, i do it :)
Do you like tag games? do you like ask games? yeah, as long as it doesn't invade my privacy, it's fine for me, it's fun~
Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous? definitely ana (@gojosattoru) haha. and well, who wouldn't become famous with those precious colorings, she's amazing. when she started following me, i couldn't believe it lmfao
Do you have a crush on a mutual? yep (but i’ll never say who! let’s end this right now! haha)
tagging: @kurahara @zuura @ladynagant @kishitan-iis @ohreigen don’t feel obliged to! :)

Monday, May 24th, 2021 - Sunday, May 30th, 2021
The ship itself can be written romantically or platonically, basically anything you want so long as it stars these two characters together in some way. Poly is also fine so long as Ichigo and Kisuke are still the focus of the fanwork.
Posting:
For those of you with Tumblr, you can tag your stuff with #UraIchi Week 2021 in the first five tags of your post.
~
Themes
As always, I’ve sorted through all the votes and chosen the top ones as the official prompts, four per day (except the last day) this time, but of course, creating something based off of them is optional. It’s your choice whether or not you want to make a fanwork that includes all the themes of that day, or a fanwork for each theme, or a fanwork for just one. You can make something for each day of the week or just one or two days. And if your fanwork doesn’t fit any of the themes, there’s a Creator’s Choice option on the last day so feel free to come up with your AUs and other ideas. All prompts can be interpreted any way you want as well, it’s entirely up to you. The point of this event is simply for everyone to have fun and contribute even more to this ship :)
May 24th, 2021 - Day 1:
Time Travel/Dimension Travel AU
Crossover/Fusion AU
Reincarnation/Transmigration AU
Canon Divergence AU
First up is as always some fan favourites. You can move Ichigo or Kisuke forward or backward or sideways through space and time, or pick another fandom for them to cross into, or fuse them with another fandom’s setting. You can dump their souls into someone else’s bodies back in the TBTP Era, or have them reborn into another family in another world. Wherever you put them, they’re definitely not in their own time period or even dimension anymore.
May 25th, 2021 - Day 2:
Loyalty Kink
Touch-Starved Character(s)
Codependency
"If you're running away, I'm coming with you."
Here’s a chance to make Ichigo and Kisuke suffer and give them all the reasons to only trust and depend on each other. Let’s see all the possessive/protective feels they’re capable of given only to each other, firmly set in that us vs. the world mindset. They’d kill and die for each other, and they’re unapologetic and feral about it, and everyone else will just have to deal.
May 26th, 2021 - Day 3:
Rebellion/Revolution
vs. Gotei 13
Assassin
"Hypothetically, if I needed to bury a body, where would be a good place to do that? In a hypothetical scenario."
Is there war on the horizon? What idiocy has the Shinigami’s prejudices kicked off this time? Or maybe it’s just a few (dozen) people who desperately need an accident or two in their near future. Whatever the reasons, it’s never a good idea to cross Ichigo’s bottom line, especially when he comes in a two-for-one package.
May 27th, 2021 - Day 4:
Eldritch
"When I said I'd steal your heart if you're not careful, I wasn't speaking figuratively."
Wingfic
Secret Identity/Identity Reveal
One of these things is not like the others. Maybe one of them is a little more than just human (or Shinigami, or Quincy, or Visored). Maybe the way they smile or move is just a little bit off. Maybe what they are under their skin doesn’t even have a name, and most people instinctively know to not look too closely at the extra appendages or sharper teeth or darker shadow. Or on a lighter note, maybe being born such a unique mix of races gives Ichigo something more than just a lot of reiatsu. Or perhaps all dead souls really do have wings.
May 28th, 2021 - Day 5:
Soulmates AU
Idiots in Love
Accidental Relationship
Courtship
Here’s the day for all that romance floof (and maybe some angst too). Are they both oblivious to the other’s feelings and even their own feelings? Does everybody else already know? Or maybe they’re aware of it and one of them sets out to court the other. Or maybe they were always meant for each other, but with all their history it just takes them a while to click together. However they fall in love, they always get there in the end.
May 29th, 2021 - Day 6:
Zanpakutou
Soulscape
"Don't you get it yet? I've always known."
Throne
This day could be interpreted as a little more worldbuilding-centric than the others. Can Zanpakutou be shared if the bond between Shinigami is strong enough? How about their soulscapes? Or you can jump right into canon - what if Ichigo has always known about the various plans Kisuke has in reserve for him, whether that’s fighting Aizen or becoming the next Soul King. What about Kisuke? Benihime has never been a nice Zanpakutou spirit, but maybe she makes an exception for her wielder’s love.
May 30th, 2021 - Day 7:
Creator’s Choice!
Go wild!
I’m looking forward to seeing all kinds of fanworks once again this year!

Using Jisho to Translate Verbs, Adjectives, and Nouns for Names
So, there was definitely a lot going on in my “Creating a Name” guide, and after a couple of asks and private messages on creating names I realized that this part deserves its own more digestible post.
In one of the asks I got, I mentioned that this section of the names guide might have gotten lost in all the background context hubbub (it’s found in the first subsection in the “Types of Names” section; the following quote is edited for brevity):
A common thing I see in people naming OCs after verbs to give them that “name that matches the quirk” quality is that they [...] just use that verb as a name, with the verb ending and all [...]. Most verbs have a hiragana character at the end which changes depending on how the word is conjugated, but for a name it’s easy to just cut that part off and just use the singular kanji. When doing that, make sure to find an alternate reading or a name reading for the kanji by itself [...].
For people who don’t know how to read Japanese, this might be confusing or hard to do. So, the following is a step by step guide on how to use Jisho.org to properly translate an English word into a name worthy of an MHA character. (Unfortunately, this post does not account for punny names, just how to use jisho to make names. See the names guide for more on punny names, though.)
Disclaimer: This is just a guide for how to use jisho in the context of creating a name as referenced on this blog/in the names guide. This is not the recommended use of jisho, nor how you would normally create names for characters in other media/fandoms... though you can if you want to.
Note: I will not be defining words like kana or hiragana in this post. Please see the names guide or google for more info!
1. Translate your word. (And also, understand how Jisho works.)
If you have a lot of ideas, translate many words. Anything related to the character’s quirk or personality, whatever works.
Using the example from the names guide, here’s what jisho looks like when you look up “dragon”:
Tumblr media
The anatomy of the above image is as follows:
Orange: the English word you’re looking up
Blue: the Japanese word relating to the English word you’re looking up (the image only shows one entry, but there will be multiple on the actual jisho site), with “furigana” above the kanji to show you how to read/say it
Keep in mind that this word may not actually mean what you think it means, hence the next bullet point of “green”...
Green: the definition of the Japanese word (blue), which usually has the English word you looked up (orange) somewhere in there, to give you a precise idea of what the word actually means, and may even give you multiple definitions if the word has more than one meaning
Note the small grey word at the top that says “Noun”! This tells you what kind of word the entry (blue) is, and this is going to be especially important when I get to talking about verbs and adjectives...
Red: the kanji which include the word you looked up (orange) in its translation, but keep in mind that kanji themselves have multiple definitions and may not just mean the one thing you were looking for
This section might actually be the most useful to you in making names, since you won’t get caught up in all the multiple definitions of actual words, but sometimes actual words are useful, so using just the kanji list to create a name is another starting point to go from rather than using the definitions/actual words as a starting point
Check the “More Kanji >” link toward the bottom of this list if you’d rather use a kanji as a starting point for your name rather than a word (for future reference, you can also skip directly to this list by looking up your word with the “#kanji” filter: “YourWordHere #kanji”)
Check the “Details >” link in the lower right corner of the box to see more info about the kanji, its readings (kunyomi, onyomi, and nanori/name readings), and some other words that may include this kanji somewhere in its beginning, middle, or end
Now, after you translate your word, there’s a couple ways this can go:
You probably started with a noun so you have your kanji to create a name with. Skip to STEP 3!
You decided to use the kanji list at the sidebar rather than using a word. Skip to STEP 3!
Your word was an adjective or verb, so there might be more work to do. Proceed to STEP 2!
2. Cut off the kana, extract the kanji.
So, say the word you looked up wasn’t as simple as a noun. There’s probably extra kana tacked on, which isn’t really the norm in a name. So you need to cut those off.
For quick reference like in my proverb names post, these are kana!
Tumblr media
For an adjective that’s also a noun like “白 shiro” (white), there’s no extra kana, so you’re good. But some adjectives like “楽しい tanoshii” (fun/enjoyable) and “可愛い kawaii” (cute) have kana at the end, and the same goes for verbs like  “寝る neru” (to sleep), “泳ぐ oyogu” (to swim), and “死ぬ shinu” (to die). The occasional noun will have a kana too, like “眠り nemuri” (sleep), but the same rules apply--cut off the kana!
Extra information, feel free to skip this section:
Japanese usually have two types of adjectives, “i-adjectives” and “na-adjectives”, which you’ll see in the definitions section (green from before) in jisho. The “i-adjectives” are the ones that usually have extra kana.
There’s a sort of third type of adjective, “no-adjectives”, which are basically nouns that can be adjectives too. You don’t have to worry about any extra kana showing up with these, for the most part.
There are three types of verbs, “ru-verbs”, “u-verbs”, and “irregular verbs”, but jisho calls them different things like “Godan verbs”. There are other classifications like “Transitive” or “Intransitive” and other such things listed in jisho, but you don’t have to worry about them (they’re mostly for understanding usage/grammar, which isn’t what we’re focusing on here). In regards to the “ru” and “u” verbs, verbs are categorized by how they’re conjugated. In Japanese, the ending kana changes for tense, negative, potential, etc. which is why the kana is at the end of the kanji rather than part of the kanji itself.
Now once you have just the kanji, we can proceed with creating a name as outlined in the names guide. I’m gonna illustrate what the steps look like so you have a better idea what to do!
3. For a simple name, look up the kanji with the “#names” filter.
After you’ve got your kanji, copy it into the search bar and either type “#names” after it or manually click the filter button (green in the below image) and select the “Names” option (blue in the below image).
Tumblr media
That will give you a whole list of names, with romaji included so you know how to read the kanji. It will also tell you whether it’s a male or female given name, a family name/surname, an unspecified name (usually for unisex given names, but sometimes those kinds of names also work as surnames), or the name of a place or known public figure (the latter-most two options you should ignore--naming a character after a place is unconventional, and you really probably shouldn’t be naming characters after real life people).
To narrow down your search so you don’t have to look through all the categories you don’t need, you can use these advanced search options by typing in these tags after adding the “#names” filter:
“#surname” for surnames
“#given” for given names, unisex or first names of any gender
“#fem” for feminine/female names
“#masc” for masculine/male names
“#unclass” for unclassified names (these can be any of the above)
So if you’re looking for names for a boy with a dragon quirk, for example, you could search “竜 #names #masc” or “竜 #names #given” or “竜 #names #unclass”.
EXTRA OPTION: Homophonous Names
In the “How to Create a Name for your OC” section of the names guide, one of the tips about creating a “name that sounds like another word” name is to take the pronunciation of the name that includes the kanji you want and using a name spelled with different kanji instead. It’s really easy to use the “#names” filter on jisho to do this!
Once you find a name you like, simply take the romaji spelling (green below), put it into the search bar (red below), and add the “#names” filter. This will show you a whole list of names that sound the same but are spelled differently (blue below)! You can pick the spelling you like, but be sure to check what it actually means with STEP 4!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, this step is pretty simple, but for a name that’s more than one kanji long, proceed to STEP 4. Otherwise, see more options in STEP 5.
4. Translate the name back to see the meanings of the other kanji in the name.
So say you found a name with more than one kanji that you like, including the one you were looking up in the first place. Great, now to see what the full name actually means!
Copy the kanji in the brackets of that name (green below--note that you shouldn’t be copying the kana directly to the left of it!) and put it back into the search bar (replace the text in the red below).
Tumblr media
After that, either type “#kanji” directly after the name or manually click the filter button (green below) and select the “Kanji” option (blue below).
Tumblr media
You’ll be taken to a page with lots of large text and technical info on it, but the most important bit is the definition of the kanji (green below). The image only shows the first kanji of the name, but if you scroll down you’ll see the others (one example in red below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If that’s what you want your name to mean, great, you have a name! Otherwise, you can go back to the other steps and start over, until you find a name you like.
Proceed to STEP 5 if you want to manipulate the name some more to give it some uniqueness or possibly make a pun out of it.
5. Make a name out of a combination of kanji of your choice, or find alternate kanji readings.
So you have a kanji you like, but the options in the list of names in the “#names” filter don’t really fit your character: ie. you have a dragon quirk user but you don’t want to name them just “竜一 Ryuuichi” (one/first dragon) or “竜鼻 Tatsuhana” (dragon snout) or something.
One of the things you can do is just put together 2-3 kanji that don’t actually make a “real name” and come up with your own reading for them. For instance, “竜夜 Tatsuya” (dragon night) may be homophonous with a “real name”, but the spelling is unusual and if you look it up on jisho with the “#names” filter, nothing will come up.
It’s possible to make up names like the above example by combining the the different readings of the kanji. For example the 夜 can be read “yo”, “yoru”, or “ya”. To find the readings of a kanji, you can either look in the kanji list when you’re looking up a word, or you can check out the specific kanji details to find the kunyomi, onyomi, and nanori. (All the different areas to find kanji readings are in red in the images below. Nanori is called the “Japanese names” reading in the last image, but be aware that not every kanji will have nanori available.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The names guide outlines this a little too, as well as list other ways to find kunyomi, onyomi, nanori, etc. and their romaji readings, but I will not be getting into that here since I’m only focusing on jisho in this post.)
Of course you have to know how to read a little kana to figure out how to pronounce the kanji and its readings, but you can either reference the kana sheet above, google or wiki, or use google translate. The image below is going to be the only non-jisho image here I promise, but this part is important for people who don’t know how to read kana so I’m including it. (Be careful not to use the actual translation, in red below. The green and blue are the kunyomi and onyomi respectively, just to show you where in the romaji reading they are, as google translate doesn’t use line breaks in it. You can see why it’s not a good idea to use the red area since it tried to translate “rou” as an actual English word “low”--this also illustrates the importance of kanji, since all of those readings technically mean “dragon”!)
Tumblr media
Once you have your kanji readings, you can combine them however you think sounds best. For example, 竜夜 (dragon night) can be any of these given or family names (this is not a complete list, and not all of them are necessarily homophonous with real names):
Tatsuyo
Iseya
Iseyoru
Ryuuya
Ryuuyo
Ryouya
Rouya
Rouyoru
Riuya
Riuyo
Riuyoru
You can also do this to names that aren’t made-up mashed-together kanji. For instance, take the real name “竜ケ江 Tatsugae”. With alternate readings, you can use “Isekemi” as a surname and still spell it the same as the traditional “Tatsugae”. This is useful to make a name look normal but change the pronunciation to be appropriate for a pun (my example is not a pun, however--I was just demonstrating how to do it). An example of this is Mina Ashido’s name, as the surname “芦戸” is normally pronounced “Ashito”.
Alternate readings are usually how puns are made, but I won’t get into that here. Check the names guide for more in-depth stuff on that, but the info from STEP 5 is particularly useful for the “name that matches the quirk” subsection of the “How to Create a Name for your OC” section.
Congrats, you made it to the end!
Welp, that’s all you need to know about using jisho to make a name! Please check out the “Creating a Name for your MHA Character” guide that this post was made to supplement. This post was just “how to use jisho”, the names guide will really get into the meat of how to create a name befitting of an MHA character.
If anything about this post was unclear or confusing, let me know and I’ll try to clarify. Hope this helps you name your character!
Go beyond and PLUS ULTRA!

Note
how do you get into roleplaying on a ff server? like how do you do it and how do you know if your character is lore compliant? ;A; pls youre a big inspo to me
*Hugs Nonny* Getting into RP on a FF server can vary; I don’t actually RP much these days, outside of some friends I already have connections to--and that in itself can be difficult just due to Life! It can take time, and patience, and some fits and starts.
And this gets...really really long, so buckle up and go below the cut, please. :)
The cut got broken by an edit. Sigh.
In game there’s always the RP status tag, and just doing RP with folks in public spaces. There may be trolls now and then, but they can be ignored. I personally find Balmung’s Quicksand area too busy and anxiety inducing and not actually all that conducive to actual RP, even “meet at a tavern” walk-up type. But unless you already have a ready-made group of friends/FCmates willing to RP more than some random walk-ups with you, it may take some legwork to find folks you can and want to write with.
Social Media There are a couple of RP community blogs, like @mooglemeet and @ffxiv-crystal-rp  and plenty of server-specific ones. There’s also some Discords for these communities. They host and advertise events and reblog people who are looking for RP contacts. Some of them have running gdoc calendars and in game linkshells and fellowships as well.
Shofie has a good post about Tumblr/social media RP blogging.
@shofie-ffxiv
It’s a fact now that social media outside game is a way to make contacts, or even a medium for RP itself. There are few centralized websites/forums for server RP communities anymore. Making connections over your social media, like Tumblr and Twitter, can help find RP. You can’t just throw your own character info out there or reblog prompts hoping others bite, though; you have to put in some work and show interest in others, too. This can be difficult and even scary. That’s OK.
RP is about collaboration and creating with other people, which means finding folks you can write with, and who see you as someone interesting but also interested in them and their OCs. If you want to keep it a solo endeavor focused on your own OCs, write fanfic (which I’ve actually made friends and gotten RP interests that way too through comment interactions, so hey).
If you reblog a prompt from someone, see others on your dash reblogging prompts, if people reblog that prompt post from you? Send them asks! Alternatively, don’t wait for prompts, just send asks, comments, or chats saying hello and things you notice or like about their blog/character/posts they make. Try to form connections with people you think are genuinely interesting and might be fun to talk with. Social media should be, well, social.
BUT respect boundaries, too. Don’t try sarcasm or jokes with people you don’t actually know, it tends to go over poorly. Unless someone’s specifically posting a naughty meme/prompt, keep stuff you others send clean and polite, especially if it’s unsolicited and you’re not already friends (doubly so if you don’t know how old they are IRL, there are laws you do not want to break). Respect if people aren’t open to random asks or chatting with new followers, or say “no” to RP, and know it’s not personal--it’s just what they have time, energy, and emotional/mental capacity for. Don’t give up on other people, though. This stuff can take time and effort to find those you click with.
Respect and communication with RP partners is pretty key.
Do curate your feeds and don’t be afraid to unfollow/mute/block folks, either. I’m selective in who I follow and remove as needed, too, for my own mental health. I miss so much of the discourse and drama and that’s fine by me. Also it costs nothing to not step in on a lot of the drama when it does pass in sight.
Profiles I have static RP profile pages for my girls here on Tumblr (and a lot of other static links and pages, but I’m weird about organizing like that). This way, if people want to write with me, send me prompts, if I sent them prompts, or they want to otherwise interact with my characters, the information is handily available. For some folks, this makes all the difference in who they choose to interact with: how easily can they find even basic info about your OC?
Some people make Carrds. Some folks have gdoc links, or use Dreamwidth, etc. Just keep the links in the blog’s sidebar menu, and/or in the blog desc so people can see ‘em on mobile. There are templates out there, or you can make your own. Feel free to snag mine if you’d like. A lot of times people also copy their profiles to rebloggable posts when looking for RP contacts. Profiles are a good way to let folks know just the at-a-glance basics about your character(s).
I picked a simple theme with a simple layout that makes it easy to add and show off links. I put them in the blog desc to make them easy to find on mobile, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Images: links from my blog sidebar menu showing how over organized I am]
RP, Stories, Lore Post some stories or RP logs (with permission of others involved) or even just random little blurbs and headcanons, as well as any screenshots, art, aesthetic posts for your OCs. Have something of interest to show for your character, too, so some of those folks your interacting with have something of their own to see and ask about!
If possible, try some light RP with friends and FC Mates who are amenable. Go to events, even if just to lurk at first. When you do get up the nerve to talk to people, don’t try to throw a character’s entire backstory at them, or try to steal the limelight--RP is collaboration, back and forth, and a lot like real conversation. Maybe come up with little light things to talk about if asked; a recent adventuring job, a silly shopping incident, etc. They can break the ice or just give you something to reply with for a few minutes.
Lore Compliance is Variable. Some people really want lore compliance, others are OK bending it here and there, while still others throw it out the window entirely. If you want to be super lore compliant...read. There’s a LOT of information, in game and out, for finding lore; from official publications and website material, to tools like Garland Tools site, to compilation blogs like @mirkemenagerie.
Note what’s important for your concept. Narrow it down. Characters aren’t going to know or be or do everything, so only worry about what’s necessary for the base idea. And be flexible; it’s SE’s sandbox, we just play in it, and they can change things any time. They usually do it in the guise of characters not knowing/having all the correct information, at least, but also some places just don’t exist in game yet so we don’t have info.
I’m unspecific about a lot of elements of Aeryn’s childhood, for instance, other than “traveling merchants near Thavnair.” I don’t have to be super specific. I can keep most details vague, and focus on her family and those relationships.
Dark, as my first character, has a fairly simple backstory that I’ve expanded on and adjusted over time as I learned and came up with new info. I also bet no one remembers I originally said Dark was from the North Shroud. I’ve changed things (now from East Shroud, due to the proximity to Gyr Abania and its Hellsguards) as I learned more about the world and my character. You don’t want to change things willy-nilly, but sometimes being flexible and smoothing down some rough edges and making small changes can be fine, especially as one gets more lore over time.
Iyna has a pretty detailed backstory, that came from a basic idea, and checking dates in the pre-Calamity timeline. I based her being taken and trained the way she was not only on what info we have about Garlemald’s imperial practices with conquered provinces, but borrowed a bit from real life and the re-education schools many Native Americans were forced into (though I haven’t gone into detail on that yet, either). I tied the turning point in Iyna’s life to a major event that wasn’t the Calamity, and have left plenty of space in between for me to fill in as time goes on and I learn more about her and the world.
The world isn’t static, and is bigger and more diverse than what can be shown in the game. There’s space in the margins for plenty of weird stuff and contradictions or unusual cases. So read up on what you can, ask questions, and then find where in those spaces your OC fits. Then, find people who enjoy similar tastes in lore compliance (or non-compliance), and who enjoy playing with you and your OCs, and not worrying about the rest. Can’t please everyone, nor get along with everyone, so don’t try; just find what works for you, and who works with you, and don’t police anyone else’s pretendy fun times, either.
There’s no magic answer on the “right” amount of lore compliance, or how to quickly and easily find RP partners or break into the broader RP community.
I hope this helps at least a little bit! Good luck in finding your niche for RP, and maybe I’ll see you sometime at an event :)

Mun’s Asks: RP Edition
Tumblr media
I’m going to answer 22 first as it’ll be the longest. Also, a disclaimer:
The question asks for five blogs I recommend to my followers. While I tried to choose five muns based on a variety of criteria, I want it to be clear that if I’m writing with you and you are not listed here, it doesn’t mean I don’t recommend you. Honestly, I could probably answer this question plenty more times with new blogs each time. The better answer to this question is to comb through my blog and see who I’m writing with, as I recommend them if we’re writing or have written threads together.
However, I tried to choose blogs/muns that really do inspire me, contribute great work and/or rph to the community, and aren’t only Danganronpa blogs. Additionally, I tried to choose blogs who have posted IC content in the past two weeks.
22. If you could recommend at least five blogs to your followers, who would they be?
Okay, here we go! Five blogs and/or muns that you should be following:
@the-taboo-king - Literally no surprise if you’ve been following me for awhile. I will always be a fan of blogs that put so much thought, time, and effort into taking a canon character and truly developing that character into their own. There’s an excellent balance between main/canon verses, AUs, aesthetics, and crack over here and if you need some writing inspiration? Just read any of their threads. Literally, any of them. Each one of my Sonia and Gundham threads pushes me to be a better writer, to develop my Sonia further from ‘safe’ canon tropes and I’m always grateful for that. These threads are just a joy to write and I’d say that if you have a Danganronpa character or verse and you’re not writing with this Gundham, you’re severely missing out.
I liked Sondam before I joined the DR RPC. Now? It’s probably my favorite DR ship for Sonia.
@gungambled / @thawedfrost / @spiritusvendid - Because these are all the same mun, they’re all listed here. All of Kitty’s blogs deserve to be in the spotlight! Admittedly, I’m currently only writing with her Celestia at this time (Sonia and Celestia - future BFFs in the making!), but she gives each one of her muses such a unique voice and insight. Her dialogue is excellent and you really get the sense of who each one of her muses is, whether you’re familiar with the source material or not. Kitty’s also so fun to talk to OOC (possibly because we have some of the same hobbies and enjoy making crack plots about our muses)! It’s a treat when she shares mun photos, as she’s a fantastic makeup artist and cosplayer (And I always support fellow cosplayers and roleplayers, two big time-consuming hobbies!).
@spurnedadulthood - I talk about Livi a lot over here. There’s good reason for that: Livi’s Kensuke Hibiki comes from a game and anime that aren’t too popular over here on tumblr, but with a ton of verses available, Kensuke can come pester your muse almost anywhere. And while his personality takes some getting used to (he’s. a. GREMLIN.), Livi writes him with such sincerity and devotion to his source material that, for the most part, you just have to laugh and shake your head with every response. Also? I’d never heard of the Caligula franchise before writing with Livi. It took about three RP turns for me to fire up Crunchyroll and watch the entire anime to better understand Kensuke and the Caligula verse (I’m not the greatest at those types of games, so the anime was much easier for me to digest!). It’s very rare that I’m inspired to seek out a muse’s source material if I’m unfamiliar with them, but I can attribute that to Livi’s characterizations and writing skills. I’m pretty sure Livi has more than one blog, too? An OC, I think? Anyway, if Livi’s writing a muse, follow that blog.
@trinitytalents - I admit, I am a bit picky when it comes to OC blogs. However, I really like what 7th has done with the variety of Danganronpa OCs that make up the killing game Project Trinity. With a variety of muses to choose from, 7th has made sure each one has a distinct personality, history, talent, and more, and all of them will fit right in with your Danganronpa muse or verse! I’m a bit partial to Satomi and Atsuko myself, but there’s an Ultimate Stylist Sonia needs to meet. In short, 7th brings their original creations to life so well with respect to the franchise that has inspired them and is just a fantastic example of a multi-muse OC blog. I just wish there was more art of all of the Project Trinity students!
@sadisticbloodlxst - For those who are familiar with the Diabolik Lovers franchise, you’ll know that a lot of the subjects in the games and shows are not for the faint of heart. However, this blog handles all of them with such eloquence while writing for every member of the Sakamaki and Mukami families! That’s a lot of muses with a lot of different personalities, histories, and perhaps most importantly in DL, reasons why they’re just not very nice vampires. Each character is so distinct, with writing full of emotion even when the muse themselves is determined to stay stone-faced. They’re taking a small break right now, but when they return, it’s a blog you should be reaching out to if you’re a fan of Diabolik Lovers (or dark plots, angst, nsfw, etc) at all, even just to read the various threads going on with plenty of other muses. Yes, I’m nosy and enjoy reading what all of their muses are up to! I can’t wait to keep developing Sonia’s storyline with Ruki and eventually, maybe, having her meet more of the cast.
6. What are your thoughts on the current roleplay trends on here right now?
I’m not sure what counts as a current roleplay trend, so to speak, but I’ll give this a shot:
- Google doc rules are a good thing, especially to access on mobile. I should do one myself. A lot of times I’ll get followed and I’ve only got my phone or tablet to check out a blog, and a google docs linked in mobile helps me decide much more quickly if I want to follow someone.
- Blogs and promos that focus so much on aesthetics that you cannot read the posts on their blog or you cannot find the rules/muses/info easily on the theme irk me. I’m much less likely to have the patience to move my cursor around your blog trying to find the smallest possible icon to hover over for ‘rules’ than if you have a sidebar icon that just says, plainly, ‘rules.’  My reasoning of following a blog always comes down to: do our rules/values/interests match and can I work with this mun’s writing? No matter how pretty the blog is, if I can’t work with your IC content, I’m probably not going to follow.
- Patience with replies needs to be understood more by the RPC in general. Just because memes and threads are posted doesn’t mean every mun can get to them quickly. It’s fine to ask someone after a week or so (Vacation and other hiatus reasons aside), but before that? Patience. Interact with more muns, post promos, drabble, create moodboards or song lists, or even find more muses to write. Don’t worry, people will eventually respond.
- I wish group blog promos and indie blog promos had different tags. Even in the fandom-specific promo tags. It’s irritating to try and get a promo in the appropriate tags only to have it buried by group blog promos, often mass-spammed with content that isn’t even promo content.
7. What is the one trend you miss the most that’s no longer popular or seen as much as it was before?
I’m not sure if it was just not a trend or just not as further developed, but I miss the RP days of Livejournal and Greatestjournal. A lot less weird formatting and focus on coordinating blog icons in every post. I think for OCs, icons definitely help. But for canon characters that, presumably, the person you’re writing with is familiar with, it’s tiresome to add. Especially if you’re on the tumblr app.
In general, I just miss more of the focus being on writing: developing skills, brainstorming, etc, instead of aesthetics. Whether it’s the blog style or mass-sharing aesthetic posts, I just wish it was more evenly distributed with written IC content in some places.
