Okay, I'm back at it with another attempt to help the people who want to find ship fic for a character and don't really mind who that character is shipped with.

Up til this point, I've been focused on trying to find a way to identify all the fics that ship a particular character. This time around, I want to remove all of the fics that don't ship them while keeping the ones that do have them as a main character in the fic.

This is imperfect, but it's netted much better results!

Go to that character's tag. You can do this by tapping on their tag at the top of a fic, for example. I experimented with a few characters for this, but here's the tag for Darcy Lewis MCU

Once you're on that character's tag, open up the Filters menu by tapping on the button labelled Filters. If you're on a computer, the Filters menu is already on the right-hand side of the screen.

In the Exclude section, tap on the word Categories and tap on the X next to Gen. You can also X out any ship configurations you aren't interested in reading today.

Keep scrolling down towards the bottom of the Filters menu and stop when you reach the Search Within Results box. In that box, type summary: Darcy (or whatever name your fave is most often referred to by). If they have more than one name that people call them, use summary: Darcy OR summary: "other name". If the name is more than one word, put the name in quotation marks to keep those words together in the search.

Press the Search & Filter button and enjoy the results!

This method took the tag results down from over 21K fics to just over 7.5K fics. It included ones that seemed romantic/sexual but used the & indicator when they probably should have used /.

It also includes fics that didn't indicate which category they belong to.

You can narrow your results further by excluding other items. For example, if you're in the mood for smut, you can exclude the G and T rated fics and get your list down to about 3.4K (in this example).

You could also do the opposite if you want something shippy that isn't sex by excluding the M and E fics instead. And don't forget that you can exclude fics that use specific Archive Warnings as well.

Dude I'm obsessed with how you draw expressions 🤩🤩🤩 do you have any tips regarding them? 👉🏼👈🏼

What I think about when drawing expressions:

1. Facial features - You can often show a more intense / expressive look by exaggerating certain features. Observe from photos when drawing them. (Not just humans, you can even use animals!)

2. Angles & poses - Beyond facial expressions, show how the character would angle their head. Body language also plays a role in adding emotions.

3. Lighting - Different lighting angles convey different moods. You could also experiment with how harsh the lighting is. I'll be using anger as an example, but these should apply to drawing any emotion :)

Where do you find stuff about horror ngl I have no idea where to find stuff like his life. Sometimes, I know the basic. But true, his character is complex, mind sharing where to find more stuff about him?

Well, if you want to know about canon Horror Sans, the best source you could find is probably the comic. There's a wiki of him on fandom wiki but last I checked it's not as complete as everything you'd learn reading the comic and checking the author's (sour-apple-studios) bonus art. Sometimes canon Horror artists are a good source too.

If you just want to overall learn about Horror in the fandom, or the Horror I particularly like to depict he started loosely based on Fur a Good Time, Call by PotatoChisp on Ao3 and all their headcanons on their blog, highly recommended.

But theirs is just one of many different visions of him in the fandom, so I guess I would recommend reading fics and choosing the your fav flavor of him?

sorry if this is annoying but you’re the only one i follow posting about locked tomb so. what’s it about? are the two main characters i see a lot really in a relationship explicitly?

the locked tomb is a 4-part sci-fi/tragedy trilogy set in a universe where every planet (a "house") in a solar system has a unique culture set around necromancy. their god sent a summons asking for necromancers and their cavaliers to aid him, which results in an amongus-type murder mystery. the series later expands further outwards of its initial setting to provide other intertwining stories with the themes of love and the horrors that come with it. i wrote a larger promotion post on it here!

i cannot answer your question on if theyre in a relationship explicitly. they revolve around each other; they provide context for each other - they love each other but are freshly friends, and i hope they will be in a relationship explicitly but i would have to wait for the fourth book to come out to see.

hi! seeing you during all this ep95 mess has been a breath of fresh air. you seem to have a really firm grasp of canon so I wanted to ask what you think of the recent discord message from Liam where he says Orym didn't know that Laudna was under Delilah's influence when she killed Bor'dor? I watched the clip from 4SD, & it's pretty clear that Liam says Orym understood Laudna was opening the door for Delilah when he encouraged her to kill Bor'dor & even says "we'll need that." But the Discord message seems to walk that back. It's been super frustrating being accused of vilifying Orym or infantilizing Laudna for repeating what Liam himself said. I just don't really know how to reconcile these two statements from Liam & it has me a bit confused on Orym's character.

so last week i posted this Really Long Ask about the whole discussion, if you want to take a look. but i intentionally didn't bring up liam's discord message because you're right! it seemed contradictory to something that was stated in the past, which was confusing

honestly i think the most realistic answer is that liam probably didn't mean for what he said on 4SD to be understood as such a strong and maybe even polarizing character choice. i think a lot of us heard it as "orym sees delilah as a useful/necessary asset that outweighs what might happen to laudna afterward." particularly because he framed it as something that made the whole situation "even creepier," and during that same convo, marisha was emphasizing the psychological impact that killing bor'dor had on laudna. it's a strong stance and it reflects what orym is doing to himself (handing his endgame over to the questionably fickle nana morri to increase their chances of success against ludinus)

but i suppose liam's clarification suggests that he meant it in a softer, more practically level-headed way, like "orym knew he couldn't do a whole lot about delilah's return but he also thought it could have benefits," or something along those lines. they're obviously two hugely different interpretations with pretty big implications on how we understand orym's relationship with laudna

i'm not a connoisseur of orym's character by ANY means so i can't confidently tell you what the change might mean from a narrative perspective, but i personally still prefer the former stronger stance. because i think it raises interesting questions about how orym views his own place in this war and whether or not it's valid for him to (intentionally or subconsciously) project that placement onto the other party members. is it okay for orym to expect the same level of personal sacrifice from laudna, or imogen with predathos (a whole separate can of worms), or anyone else? is it safe? etc etc. but maybe liam doesn't want to go in that direction, or maybe he does but just not in the way we expect, i don't know! only time will tell!

also regardless of what he meant, i think it's important to acknowledge that it's really easy and completely understandable to feel like he was walking something back. that episode of 4SD was almost a whole year ago! many of us built that statement into our perception and understanding of orym's character for a long time, so it's totally valid to go "wait what the fuck???" when liam suddenly pops into the discord to say that's not what he meant. those feelings are valid and real! especially when discourse can already make you question your own intelligence and your personal interpretations of a story, having that pillar, as big or small as it might've been in your mind, knocked over can be really jarring. you are very much not alone in that, and it's okay!!

hmmm, I'd say find no shame in using references, no matter how "good" at drawing you are. And if you're drawing anatomy freehand, dont be too hard on yourself and stress over the details! Just have fun with it!

hello I have been driven to googling silly and impossible questions and then recently I thought well you and I have interacted briefly and also you are a poet. so. I am a lawyer and I like my job very much and I'm quite gold at it but when I was a child I used to write and draw and make music and it felt very real and serious to me and even though I like my job very much my life feels devoid of soul. I was wondering if a professional poet had any thoughts on how one brings it back to life.

it's so funny the things we ask of poets, i'm often in demand for weddings and births and funerals as though i'm an expert in all of them, despite having never married or birthed or died. but i'll give it a try

it sounds like you just need something around your job that can provide for you the things that your job won't, like color and delight and soul, as you say. it really is just as simple as picking back up whatever makes you feel—luminous, alive, delighted. i picked up guitar during the pandemic, personally.

moreover, it's about being willing to devote time to those things. both in a daily "if you want to read more you need to sit down and read" type of way, and also in a "you might not find the thing immediately that will make you happy and you need to try stuff out" type of way.

i read a lot of poetry both for professional reasons and because it delights me; i also try to watch old movies whenever i can, and i buy croissants nearly every morning, and i'm building up a record collection. this year i've tried to travel more and i'm planning a birthday picnic for myself, because if i don't, i'll just be sad.

so that's the advice, really. pay attention to what does delight you, be it opera or long walks or italian sodas. and try to work those into the fabric of your days as much as you can. start with what you miss. reach out from there. that's all

this might sound silly but something that has recently helped me a lot to get out of the anxious/perfectionist loop when doing anything is to stop thinking about the "how" and switch to the "why" (and then work with what you've got). for example:

1. you have to write an email and you have writer's panic: think about what information is needed (i.e. what would a summary of your email look like). then adjust the tone in the same way: do you have to be formal, direct, friendly? then use whatever words come to mind that convey that. it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to fulfill some criteria.

2. you don't know how to comfort someone and you're afraid of saying all the wrong things: think of why you're doing this. you probably want to show them that you're listening, that you feel bad for whatever happened to them, and that you want to help/be there for them. you can say it like that.

3. you don't know what to wear: think about the purpose, i.e. do you want to be warm, do you want to show or hide certain parts of your body, do you want to adjust to a specific dress code? then see what you have in your closet.

I’m not quite sure I have a good answer for this? I set my birds out the night before and they’re ready to go in the morning.

Larger birds, like turkeys, may take an entire day to thaw, so I plan accordingly.

I don’t ever skin anything that’s not fully thawed.

If you’re worried about the thinner, already-thawed parts of the bird rotting while the rest of it thaws, don’t be. It’ll be fine while you wait for everything to become room temperature.

If there’s sections that are remaining hard, even after being fully thawed, then that’s freezer burn.

Did you ever have an OC that just got out of hand? Whether they just took over or they were some throwaway thing and now is just huge in your brain?

I’m probably a major outlier here but I’ve never really had an oc. Ghost is the first fandom I’ve ever created for (not counting writing one direction fanfiction at the age of 11) but I never really made an oc which is kinda funny to me because most of my mutuals have them!

Now, in my defense, I kind a just ….. did that with the old ghouls. All the ghouls are ocs in some sense but I kinda took the old ghouls w no headcanons and forced a bunch of ideas onto them until I had characters I enjoyed. Like pebble who I have the most fun writing, and delta who I’ve had the most fun with lore wise. Idk if that counts at all. But it’s my excuse for never coming up with an oc, I just forced my fav tropes onto ghouls with no headcanons yet!

everything i know about the novel spoilers came from @pharawee 's latest post about the novel plot so far. I highly recommend reading those posts for the whole unhinged story!!

in both the show and the novel, there are "special" alphas who have special psychic abilities. these powers can include telekinesis, hypnosis, future visions, scent changing, whatever. charlie and babe are both "special" alphas. babe has super enhanced senses. charlie has the power to steal the abilities of every alpha he fucks, but he doesn't tell anyone this.

babe and charlie both have the same evil rich foster dad, but the dad kept all his kids separated so they don't know who their siblings are. in the novel, the dad's evil plan is to breed all his special super powered children together to get more special super powered children for his weird criminal empire.

when babe found out, he ran away from home and became a racecar driver. he only has sex with other alphas ("gay sex") because he's scared of getting manipulated into making super babies for his dad.

charlie also eventually becomes a prime breeding target, and when he learns about this he fakes his death so that his foster dad won't come after him anymore.

it gets even more wild than that, but I'll let you read about it in the post I linked! the show has done everything but the breeding stuff so far. i have no idea how they're gonna get around it, bc it's basically the core of the whole plot. so... we'll find out! ✌️

Hey. Here's the thing. I have understood everything about nd, and have realised that I am awareness and playing a character. But here's the thing: I love my character. I wouldn't wish to be another person even if I had the option. Now when I think that all the beautiful memories, relationships and the thoughts I adored were all hers and never really mine, I break down. I WANT to be her, even if I am not. If it's a dream, I don't wanna wake up. I do wanna change few things, but nothing without her, I wanna be on this journey WITH her, AS her. I don't wanna leave her, the thought makes me break down. I feel I don't have an identity of I leave her, and her identity is the only one I want. Is there any way I can be on this journey being her? Like I wanna change things like my school, friends and minor day to day lives, but I want to be her while doing these . Is it possible? If it's not, I would go back to living a normal life, I don't wanna leave my character, even if she's not true.

Well.. here's my take on it. I don't think you've truly realized your Self if you still have attachments, simple as that. You want to be this ego and as you say, feel you have no identity without it but our fundamental true nature doesn't have any identity in the first place. But no one's forcing you to do anything. No one's forcing you to give up your character, you chose to experience her in this lifetime, did you not? And you're choosing her now. If you don't feel ready to completely detach from ego, that's okay too, no judgment there - many people are not. You can work on letting go of whatever limitations you can without giving up the ego entirely. Everything has its own time and place. Let things be. It's not something you can force anyway, everyone comes to that decision of their own volition eventually.

Also remember that even fully realized beings can continue their human experience.. things don't disappear. You just stop taking things seriously and realize you're free - suffering stops because you stop taking yourself to be the ego. As you "expand" your consciousness (i.e. drop the limitations), all you discover is more of yourself.
