there are a lot of evil people in the world and a lot of darkness in the world and so it’s very important for me to stress that now more than ever is the time to spread kindness and compassion. combat the evil by not only not partaking in it, but actively refuting it. destroy the notion that being compassionate or generous or kind to someone is uncool or embarrassing or even scary. be the change you want to see. start a chain reaction. positivity only breeds more positivity. do an act of kindness for someone so that that person who is too afraid to do it themselves can see you, realize that they’re not alone, and perhaps sheepishly follow your example. and then the next person who is too afraid but sees that person can do the same. when bad news comes out about bad people or horrible atrocities in the world it’s such an easy impulse to despair, and obviously it’s important to feel what you need to feel. grieve. be angry. be sorrowful. be empathetic. but dust off your pants and get up and be a part of a chain reaction that, no matter how small the scale, and spread compassion and love and care. all the reasons why you might not—“it’s hard! it’s scary! people will make fun of me! it’s useless because there’s too much evil!” are all grade A arguments as to why you should. you have no idea how many people you could inspire to do the same. even if it doesn’t get you anyway far, you can at least say you have the nobility of trying. please choose love and please choose life. you are worth loving and you are worth inspiring others to love

I think one of the most realistic parts about Baby Reindeer (2024) is how much Donny downplays the abuse he faces
I know everyone wants to hate on him for being “stupid” and blame him for everything that happened because yes from an outsiders perspective he made questionable choices but isn’t that what HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE DO?
I know so many people who’ve “played nice” or tried to downplay abusive behavior. You try and tell yourself “It wasn’t that bad”, or that it was just some crazy experience that should be forgotten. It seems so much easier to stay silent and just try to move on.
You don’t wanna start problems
You don’t wanna be mean
You don’t wanna be the bad guy

[ cw: trauma / mind control / separation anxiety / autophobia / ]
Something that kills me is that there’s no way in hell that Raph’s debilitating separation anxiety isn’t infinitely worse after the movie. The trauma of being Krangified like that, all alone, would probably regress him so hard.
Not to mention his worries of getting “weird” would likely get mixed up with his experience while Krangified - aka, he loses full awareness, and when he’s brought “back” it’s to the understanding that he attacked his own family (of course not to his own fault at all, but how much of that does he believe?)
The fear of being alone would take on another layer and become a fear of himself.

do you ever think about how lucanis keeps losing and losing and losing — his entire life? losing his parents, losing his childhood because of the crow training, losing his freedom, his sleep, and one year of his life due to imprisonment. then the maker smiles upon him, and he's discovering something good (rook, the veilguard team, purpose), acquiring something back (his family, his life, his freedom, his job, his city), finding some peace in mundane things (coffee, cooking, taking care of others). it feels like the scales are finally moving, balancing — only for him to lose again. he loses caterina, he can lose his city to blight, he loses at weisshaupt, he loses grip on himself (thanks to spite), he loses control — he loses himself, piece by piece. rook can help lighten the load on his chest (thanks to spite), he gets caterina back, and breathing feels a little bit easier. but loss is not done with him. he loses illario, and it feels like losing a limb, a large piece of himself violently torn away. he's visibly shaken, but no one truly knows what it takes to string the assorted pieces of himself together and keep functioning. and then loss deals what seems like the final blow: some of his friends are dead or lost, and rook is gone, too. he failed; he only knows death, doesn't he? life only takes, and takes, and takes, giving only to tease and take it back. at that moment, he's falling apart completely — until they find rook, and there's a sliver of hope once again. the scales are moving, the team wins, they eventually go back to their lives — and that's when he realizes that the final blow is the life as the first talon.
#it's written with romanced lucanis in mind but i felt like it's important to mention that he can lose treviso too#also it's easy to water it down to some sort of karmic explanation: he dealt death and that's what he gets in return#but i think it's a completely wrong and even harmful take#his story could have illustrated perfectly the cruel and abusive system that crows are;#how it breaks people; abuses them for profit and (usually) brings out the worst in them (illario)#and they lose eventually — themselves; if not power#and even if you manage to stay human and sympathetic you keep losing as well because you're trapped in this never-ending cycle of violence-#--and power play; and that would tie perfectly with zevran's story they tried to play out offscreen in the previous games#it would have been so much more meaningful and impactful than uhhh whatever they did in the game 🙃#that would give illario so much more depth as well#also i don't believe lucanis wasn't shaken after the whole illario ordeal (i think it wasn't shown in the game at all????)#like. illario is/was the closest person to him. he spent so much time with him. and yet nothing???#idc about that stupid hero of veilguard badge gimme the brothers' agony!!!!#lucanis dellamorte#illario dellamorte#rook#dragon age the veilguard#dav#dav spoilers#**meta#**writing#UH i love them both so much 😭#someone needs to do the crows rewrites.........#not me obv im not capable but i'd love to read someone's version#anyway.... what do you think.... tell me...... talk to me about the miserable brothers......

*this is not a criticism or call out in any way. I’m not thinking of anyone in particular just something interesting I noticed.
It’s interesting that in some fic especially older ones if there’s another event beyond shanks losing his left arm to explain their 10 year break up it’s usually Mihawk as the wronged party. Like shanks did something to him that he now has to atone for which is an interesting take (I don’t hate it again this isn’t a call out) it’s just interesting because from all we know in canon (which is like 2 sentences) it’s Mihawk. Mihawk is wholly the reason they didn’t see each other anymore. Because like Shanks lost an arm saving a kid and Mihawk made it about himself 😭. And refused to fight him and he can’t fight him they can’t be friends (because Mihawk is insane) and there we are. Like Shanks is very much the wronged party. Imagine almost losing your kid, losing your arm, leaving said kid and then your cherished rival/ close friend/maybe boyfriend breaks up with you in your goddam hour of need for as far as you can understand, losing your swordfighting arm. It’s just so ridiculous I would have gone ballistic 😭. Like I’m sure shanks had little illusions about who Mihawk was but goddam he probably thought he wouldn’t be so easy to leave again (another one for the abandonment issues) I can’t fucking…..god
And I think it was definitely more than the arm for Mihawk there was a myriad of feelings he couldn’t put into any words that weren’t sharp and cutting as he literally blows up what could have possibly been the most important and maybe only relationship in his life. So yeah Mihawk was definitely the wronger because babe…..what the fuck.
But honestly I can see why people give Mihawk this characterization he acts like he was the wronged party like shanks lost his arm just to spite him he’s so dramatic and insane I can’t.
I don’t know it’s why it had to be Mihawk extending out the olive branch because shanks never dropped his and him bringing the bounties and not killing Luffy are practically his own mentally ill way of apologizing.

i don't think i've seen people talk about how tragic the relationships tonny has with sahed and rainah are. not much is known about what happened between tonny and sahed to make sahed hate him so much, but we can infer that they once had a fairly close, maybe even brotherly bond. tonny tells julia that he was the one who taught sahed how to read, so we can also infer that sahed had been with the circus long before a contract was signed. whatever happened to cause such damage to their friendship must have happened after sahed signed the contract, and i'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that he's known all along that the people who ask to leave the circus don't actually leave.
but what really gets me about tonny's relationship with sahed is how sahed seed tonny. more specifically, his belief that tonny doesn't care; that he's hiding something evil and can't be trusted. it's true that tonny is hiding things from the circus members, and i'm willing to bet ryishmar is some kind of evil entity, but i have my doubts about tonny's willingness in the matter. he doesn't like letting people leave the circus because he knows what actually happens when they do. he's torn between his loyalty to ryishmar and the love he has for the troupe, and despite still referring to ryishmar as "prince" he clearly has no real love for them anymore, refusing to let them have power despite the fact that he's still, what i can only guess is, feeding them. sahed is unaware of all of this and very obviously doesn't see what it does to tonny; doesn't notice how miserable he actually is, and doesn't question when tonny says he "can't" give him the seal of life. "can't" and "won't" are two different things, but they might as well be the same thing to sahed when he doesn't care to look between the lines for what tonny can't say.
and then there's rainah. she's the oldest in the troupe after tonny (which indicates that all of those people who were in the castle are now gone, oof) and, like tonny, was very close with the woman eithra. she loved eithra, and immediately tried to take her anger out on tonny when he cut eithra's spirit thread. grief and rage are valid responses to such a traumatic event, i'm not dismissing her, but tonny's side of those events and his feelings about them have yet to be addressed. just like with mr. finnegan, he was upset having to do what he did and it's possible he even felt guilty for letting eithra fall into such a irreparable state. he was just as traumatized by those events and, what makes me so insane, he was left alone with it. he still is alone. rainah admits that she still hates him for it, but is at least glad that he won't hesitate when the day comes she asks to leave.
i have genuinely no idea how this man has not had a nervous breakdown by now. please keep in mind that the points i was trying to make (assuming any of them make sense) aren't meant to invalidate sahed or rainah or their respective traumas or how they've responded to them. they have every right to feel how they feel. we just haven't seen tonny's side of things yet; we don't know what happened between him and sahed, and we don't know what his relationship with ryishmar truly is or how he's been coping with everything he's done and still doing.

Even though I've only rewatched the first three eps, I'm thinking about the ending of Good Omens and the whole "Crowley being reinstated as an angel" thing because the miscommunication situation is heartbreaking.
When Crowley sees Aziraphale being so enthusiastic about him regaining his position as an angel, he sees it as Zira being desperate to change part of him, that everything will be okay so long as the traits that Crowley holds as a demon are gone. But Crowley doesn't want that. He just wants to be accepted for who he is and it's incredibly painful for him to see the one that he loves so enthusiastic to have an integral part of Crowley changed.
But the thing is, that isn't want Aziraphale wants. He doesn't want Crowley to become an angel because he's trying to "fix" him. Zira remembers how happy Crowley was when he was an angel, and wants to see that pure, unfiltered happiness that he lost post-fall back again. However, Aziraphale doesn't seem to realise that just because Crowley was happy then, it doesn't mean that he would be happy going back there.
And the whole situation is so painful to watch because it's two people (well not people but you know what I mean) who love each other so deeply that all they want is acceptance and happiness but because they don't just sit down and talk about things they're totally misconstruing each others intentions and wants.
Crowley wants to be loved just as he is, but he thinks that Aziraphale will only love him once he's changed. And Aziraphale does love Crowley for who he is, and he wants so desperately to bring him the happiness he once had, but he doesn't realise that going back to how things used to be isn't going to make that happen.

How I sleep knowing I'll never trust anyone that hates Sydney but worships Richie:
Tumblr media
#the bear#the bear fx#sydney adamu#carmen berzatto#richie jerimovich#jk kind of#well on days I don't see or think about Sydney haters#under every damn comment section in this fandom is someone saying Sydney didn't take accountability#like I know we all have our biases but yall are really shameless about it#Sydney scored A LOT of Ws for The Beef AND The Bear#but one time she makes a mistake and justifiably walks away from a toxic work environment she's the devil#Richie worked at The Beef for years and Sydney did more for it in what less than four months than he did#on top of being a prick to Sydney in particular because she was changing things he wanted to keep the same#to the detriment of the restaurant but also everyone#and overall being unpleasant to Carmy#Nat and anyone that didn't find him funny or interesting or like his bs#pre-Forks Richie reminds me of those types of people that only listen to people that like them#and I love that because it's realistic to some ppl#I do like Richie#it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth knowing there are people that hate Sydney#ignore her accomplishments only to raise up Richie#in the same breath when the actual show is showing you what's up#like you'd think there were different versions of the show with how these two are perceived#I get this weird need to defend Sydney when people shit on her because I wonder how often said people treat the Sydneys of the world#but that aside#In Fishes Richie mentions something about wasting potential at the beef#In Ceres it's implied he called the popo on the dealers after Sydney deescalated a situation Richie previously dealt with#in an unorthodox manner#he recognised he needed to change but still was an arsehole to the one person who was facilitating that change effectively Sydney#this show is great but people denying what they're seeing on their own screens is crazy
