I NEED MORE FISH TO CATCH! NOW!#edgeworth game was lovely. i actually was thinking of narumitsu as much as orufrey for a while. I need to be weirder about the scavengers and cannibalism...

#its been a long day... but im feeling better now. (thanks for the well wishes and such btw <3-)#(-sending my well wishes in return by tenfold bcs. damn. it seems stuff is really going around rn)#but yeah... just. augh. theres just smth about how the scavs sorta translate into more like. thriller-esque genres pretty well?#like. i feel somehow those themes compliment their characteristics? or could compliment their characteristics in a more rounded out way #sure. theyre generally a light hearted romp of absurdity with occasional themes of a not good not bad handling of 'mental health matters'#but they just really shine a bit in horrific circumstances. esp with the sort of absurdity they bring to the table #theyre odd people. even in the context of their generally weird and alien universe. and that right there feels like a trove of potential #its like. ok. the lost light crew? also odd. but thats a huge ship. full of people and variety and a sense of purpose and normalcy post-war #(normalcy being. whatever all those background folks were getting up too while plot happened around them. cruise ship stuff ig)#but in contrast. with the w.a.p crew. its an ark class ship with like. a handful of people. and a whole lot of junk and free time #both just cruising through space endlessly for years. one with hundreds of people. and one with like 6 people.#so both are technically isolated when theyre not making pit-stops planet or station side. but again. 100s vs 6 dudes.#think. top of the line cruise ship from hell with a small town sized populace vs a big shitty boat and 6 starving guys #both have the capacity to become case studies in madness. both could do really well thriller wise. but the scavs being a smaller group?#it only being the 6 of them emphasis the isolation perhaps. less variety. less change. same 6 people for 5(?) years #things could get weird fast. codependent mentalities. us vs them mindsets. an otherness about everyone else outside of their group #and then! then you add to the mix the fact that theyre eating/drinking from corpses?! *chefs kiss* awesome. love it.#non-stationary isolation + cannibalism. ough. perfect mix. a classic of maritime horror but in space! :D!#a big ship. small crew. living while knowing that as soon as you kick the bucket. your body is the meal. your body is the fuel.#no decorum about it. no faith. no belief. just perverse survival. bcs they might enjoy it. a bloody gluttony. with a bite. a sample. a taste #it takes seeing your buddy as a walking talking burger to another level. bcs every corpse you come across is also a burger. and a gas can #also fulcrum making candy out of corpses is so. particularly perfect when it comes to the horrifically absurd. just. smth about it. idk #but also also. the line. where was the line drawn for each of them? and when did they each cross it?#most of them dont seem like the type to jump head first into that. so how did they justify it to themselves? had they done it before?#and then. when did it become normal? a habit? smth enjoyable?#i might be running out of tags. but yeah. them being weirder. esp about each other and others.#nothing brings a group of people together like the overhanging knowledge that you sort of kinda wanna eat each other #(rlly wishing i could stomach realistic thrillers rn. but i just cant. gotta stick to written or artistic styles or risk panic attacks :/)#(ive tried a couple movies and shows now. and cant get through most of them. praise be synopses and peoples long rambles about them tho :D)#(nothing like reading someones passionate ramble about the meaning/symbolism of some gory nightmare without having to actually see it lol)

Referencing this post- long reply but I give a few pointers in these fics' direction at the end!

I'm gonna be so honest anon, I'm not sure I want to actively rec some of them 😭 A lot of them are very of-their-time (usually 2007-2013) and, while HILARIOUS, often contain things that I really don't want to 'recommend' (homophobia, sexism, a lot of slutshaming, some REALLY out of pocket stuff that is not properly warned for, etc). OBVIOUSLY I am not reccing the yikes of things so much as the rest of it (the hilarious unhinged side), but the current fandomscape leans bad-faith and assumey and I'm just not keen to fuck around and find out tbh. Ye olde fic reccing takes a level of understanding of other time periods and attitudes and customs in fandom and on FFN that I'm... not sure that all of tumblr is always very good at tbh lol. If you guys really want me to and if we can all understand that it was a different time and that enjoyment of batshit insane fics does not equal agreement with everything said or depicted in them, then come back and I'll consider it again. But for now, I'm MORE than happy to tell you guys the best ways to find them on your own lmao. It's not hard once you get it down, and anything I'd rec, I've found through this method.

First off, FFN's search system is just frustrating imo. Between a less-than-intuitive UI and people not bothering to tag characters and ships and genres properly, using it the same way you'd filter stuff on Ao3 is a fool's errand (unless you're doing it by word count/completed/etc, which is objective and automatically tallied I think). You're better off using key words. I usually ignore the filters. The only thing I filter by is fandom at the start page (all of Pokemon is under 'games' in FFN and I don't bother narrowing it down to animeverse personally due to aforementioned mistagging or an entire lack thereof).

So, what key words do I use? When looking for that specific brand of insane campy 2000s kitschy wild unhinged stuff, I usually default to searches like "PS CS IS" (poke contest ikari, there's a lotta stuff in there, sometimes there's ORS/LGS/OS/ES/AS etc and you won't always know the acronym and it's just a surprise tbh) or trope related searches like "Assassin" or "High school" or "Vampire" other words you might find in a summary. You can also search by character names (in the search bar and not in the actual filters, which are not reliable in my experience). I'd say to go for tropes and AUs as far as keywords go. I'd ALSO say to not filter by completed, because that'll filter out a lot of two-week-passion-projects that someone dropped as soon as it got flamed, and there's some fun ones in there.

That's about it, but if you find one good fic then it's worth checking the rest of what the writer has. A lot of them have a bunch of unfinished fics and there's some hidden gems. Have a good time reading, and the search is half the fun! Come back with any funny lines you find if you want :)

#it's so hard because I truly love these classic era insane fics but you've gotta understand that they're from like 2008 #and I'm just not going to open myself up to any possible bad-faith interpretations.#it's also hard because like while I'm not a big blogger #there's enough of you guys that I am hesitant to do name/title-dropping for this sort of thing specifically.#I don't want someone to see this and think we're doing it to make fun of the fics #and if someone went and did that from a rec of mine then I'd be really fucking sad about it.#I love these insane 2000s fics even though a lot of them are flawed and a little yikes sometimes.#it's not an ironic enjoyment at all. it's genuine. They're nostalgic and fun and unreserved (albeit-again-a lil' yikes).#they're from when a lot of people wrote only for themselves and leaned fully into that level of self indulgence #and it's really sweet in a way to read them so much later and to see how much fun someone had writing it #now that we're all older and more aware of what we make and more nervous about how it's perceived and aware of quality.#you also tended to see a lot of author's notes about school and summer camp and writing between life #and it's just. idk. it's got such a specific feeling to it. like damn I hope [author] had a nice choir rehearsal in 2009.#I hope their swim meet went well and that their dad stopped being annoying or whatever.#none of this is ever to make fun of the fics or to be mean-spirited. i would hope that people know at this point that I LOVE cringe #thank you very much lol.#I am cringe's number one defender. go be cringe and genuine. it's better than being condescending and bored.

#between that and vegeta's 'so much for the 'my dears'' in the namek saga like askldjlaskj he was so obviously freeza's favorite #like freeza's favorite dog to be sure but freeza favorite none the less #i am also constantly thinking about how it seems/seemed to me that toriyama was setting freeza up for a redemption arc by making beerus #do all the things freeza did but with complete moral neutrality #and then showing us more of freeza's personality and insecurities #and even in z reminding us that freeza also did not have a say in what he did with his life he was also isolated and appointed to a mafia #and has no real friends or family just a legion of what Vegeta calls sycophants #and i am so so so curious about what the plan with that was because of db's overarching themes of redemption #and highlighting that vegeta's biggest issue with freeza (in the manga) is that he destroyed his planet -- and then having beerus reveal #to vegeta that he gave freeza the greenlight for it and vegeta still working with beerus afterwards even though he's furious to learn that #and like all of that combined with freeza being like 'hey i know i murdered you but come work with me again' and geets being like #'lol damn that's actually a really good deal but unfortunately i have to beat the brakes off you for personal reasons'#just makes me very Chinhands about where that was going for freeza's character arc #i used to hAte freeza growing up but 1) Again he is much better in the manga and 2) Super really decided to flesh him out more which is fun

Saw this prompt for incorrect OC quotes and couldn't resist with a bunch of my Breach goobers. Some of them would absolutely say these things word for word in canon if I gave them half the chance to, though. XD

They're in order of when they showed up in person - Qīng, Ghost, Red, Marisol, Shio, Cam, Daruk, Tawoos, and Alondra - as well as some important honorable mentions who have only been mentioned or gotten dialogue - Star, Blake, and Creation.

Star's design is a slight spoiler, I suppose, but it doesn't reveal if they're human or impostor, so it's all good. Creation's "design" also isn't a spoiler at all, because They can look however They want, LOL. As for Shio...some of you who have seen the body horror I've done of them may be wondering why they look so normal here, but I promise there are Reasons. :3c

Coming to the realization that between dai/trespasser and da4, I also had a major traumatic injury to my left arm that required major reconstructive surgery and it has never been the same since 🫡

#like im fine. its okay now #better than it was anyway. bc damn did that hurt and the surgery repaired what it could and left it functional #but it twinges weird and i can feel weather changes in it and any arthritis will be greatly exacerbated now as i age #my grip strength also. rip #anyway i know how my Inquisitor feels lol

Have I told you yet that Au!Grey is moving to Neurology? Because he is! I’ve decided to take my boo completely off the rails and turn him into a full blown oc as the head of Neuro at Akso. He’s keeping his name bc I can’t imagine changing it at this point, and keeping all of the backstory and character development that went with him.

The best feeling in the world is when there’s a piece of media you know you love and you’ve hyped it up as your favorite thing for so long but you haven’t revisited it in a while so you start to worry if it’s really as good as you make it out to be and so you go back and revisit it and it’s like. Oh this is even better than I remembered this shit rules

#text post #im p sure the mutual marker thing was a feature w/them bc i'm missing them on everyone that #as far as I know I was still a mutual with #then again I did drop like. fifteen followers over the last week #but that usually happens whenever I start actually posting my personal thoughts on my personal blog lmao #have also gotten a few messages both politely and not so politely asking me to essentially shut the fuck up re: my personal posts #idk what to tell y'all on that bc like. i have a lot of folks I follow n' enjoy who post just as much /even more than me re: personal stuff #I think im just particularly irritating even when I'm trying really hard not to be and try to edit my posts down/keep them under readmores #but im trying to be better #not trying hard enough tho apparently and this tag essay probably won't help but. idk.#i think we're all allowed to be as irritating/post as much personal stuff as we want on our blogs #but i also think im still operating uselessly on how tumblr was a few years ago. ppl don't like that anymore it seems #and that's okay but I gotta work on catching up to that and do better #anyway. it's possible i did lose most of my mutuals and tbh it's not a big deal it's just a lot of ppl at once like. damn.#makes me wonder what the last straw was just out of curiosity #bc if that's really what happened then im down to like. maybe three or four mutuals left and it hasn't been that low since I first started #on here back in like. tail end of hs beginning of college #I also keep missing the quick reblog feature which was my fave but. someday I will figure out why xkit isn't working for me #and i will fix it. at a time when im not sick and feeling cruddy lol

#jk if u know me u know difficulty doesnt faze me i hope its a rl fuckin challenge #but just realised i prolly shouldnt start my ng+/2+ runs for all ending achievements until after ive played sote..#bc otherwise my first sote run will be on a ramped up difficulty. when the base dlc is supposed to be harder than the main game already..#and i might wanna complete it across multiple new games anyway if there are duplicates of stuff i wanna get hmm.....#well. in my current elden ring save i literally only have 5 more altered armor pieces to farm before starting ng+#so ill finish that. and finish upgrading all weapons to +24/+9. and then take a tolerance break to play a few other games #and THEN ill buy myself sote and play that and do the ng+ stuff after #also one of the main things delaying me getting sote was bc i thought theyd add new achievements for it which would lower my completion%#but they haven't??? so thats fine then #anyway i need to sleep. at least playing er has been helping me cope w how pissed off ive been again. we <3 violence #yaaaawn. sad i couldnt go to the gym tho i hope i feel better in a couple days time #i did go to work in the end which was fine lol. glad i didnt take the day off tbh #but yeah 👍#.diaries #also not being able to get any sote stuff yet is annoying me bc im using a spreadsheet to keep track of all weapons/armour etc #and i have virtually everything except a couple armour alt variants n the remembrances i didnt get first time. but my total percentages #are capped around 75-80% bc the remaining 20-25% of items are sote exclusive.....#thats an insane amt tho damn. sote must be fucking HUGE
