okay yeah speaking of the last reblog, i'm really upset that the fandom watered midorikawa (among many other characters) down to a "cute softie uwu child" who "needed protection" or something along the lines of that, but honestly, given the time period the games/animes were released (og and go games + animes 2008-2013, areori 2018), i'm not sure what else i expected from the fandom
#i'm pretty sure 2018 was like. the peak of bl#and fujoshis#or something#maybe a little later than that#i know every fandom has its toxic or bad side#but either way i'm still disappointed with how all that turned out#inazuma eleven#allister's freezer

What would you say are your more controversial opinions about the hp characters?
ohhhh okayyy. i feel like my opinions on a lot of the characters aren’t controversial because i dont feel super strongly towards anyone in any negative light but here are some i could think of at the top of my head:
i’m glad the malfoys faced more extreme backlash after the second wizarding war. a lot of people in the fandom seem to be very sympathetic towards draco and scorpius for getting dogpiled with the brunt of it (which yeah, it sucks, especially for scorpius) but the prejudice makes complete make sense to me. if i was someone who didn’t know scorpius’ character, and had someone from my family get killed in the second war due to death eaters or something— seeing the malfoys still be wealthy and walk around freely without any jailtime, i would be bitter too. they’re hated on but they’re still one of the richest families ever, so they’ll live LOL
another anon has asked about this and i haven’t responded to them yet but when i do i will link it here for my reasons. basically: the best character in the cursed child is harry potter. i think the way they wrote his character and ptsd carried the play. it was def his story, not albus’.
i do think dumbledore has some aspects of him that may be considered morally gray, but mostly i dont think he is. he does everything for the good of the world, and his complete selflessness leads him to sacrifice anything for it— even himself and the people he loves, when necessary. i completely understand why people wouldn’t agree with his methods though.
james potter isn’t a sunshine character he’s a dickhead. fans of him made him a golden retriever character to be more palatable for modern times. i like him the way he is: an asshole and then less of an asshole 👍 this is what true stanning looks like
pansy parkinson is racist and out of all the female side characters, developing HER is so questionable from fandom
harry had questionable descriptions about a lot of male characters to make people think he could be a little 🏳️🌈 there was bill, there was sirius, there was cedric. but draco is not a part of that list. harry was not feeling draco whatsoever throughout the series but drarry shippers cling to that one ‘obsessed’ line
furthermore, harry rejecting draco’s offer of friendship wasn’t a sad or a ‘what if’ scene. draco was being a classist piece of shit and harry didnt want to fuck with that, there isnt any way in any timeline he wouldve accepted draco’s friendship.
slytherin sucks just generally lol. people want so bad to pluck anti-heroes out of a series that was written specifically with the mind to make all the characters suck.
hermione and ron’s drama isn’t as toxic as people make it out to be. yes, this includes the time hermione sent birds after him. people act like its the end of the world but she was tackling puberty and the end of society soooo i give her a pass to tweak out.
mostly every harry potter character has horrific names. like literally mostly everyone. even the name harry potter 🙁
movie romione wasn’t that bad LOL
severus snape’s ‘redemption’ or whatever was so ass. he bullies kids for five years and then everything is chill because… true love? on harry’s mum? are you kidding me 💀
weasley family angst goes hard but people (especially percy stans and some ron&ginny stans) acting like they’re the most toxic family to walk the earth make me want to rip my hair out and eat it. molly loves her kids guys shes not evil. jesus.
genuinely trying to think of more but i can’t right now…. maybe i will reblog and add to it. i feel like most of my opinions aren’t that controversial though 😭
#i feel neutrally about a lot of the characters so its not like i have huge things to say but…#the james one…. he can be a sunshine character post redemption arc after hogwarts but most of the fandom ignores his need to redeem himself#-in the first place#romione#harry potter#hp#hpcc#cursed child#scorpius malfoy#albus severus potter#marauders#james potter#molly weasley#anti drarry#draco malfoy#pansy parkinson#severus snape#albus dumbledore#percy weasley#hp golden era#bill weasley#sirius black#hermione granger#ron weasley#ginny weasley#cedric diggory#rewriting#ask#anon

Vi Analysis Pt 2 S2 Act 1
Alright, let's continue this Vi analysis. Here's the link to the first one if you're interested in reading it.
https://www.tumblr.com/blueraith/770117290888986624/its-wild-to-me-just-how-badly-vis-arc-is?source=share
I'm sure this will end up very long, so here's the obligatory cut:
One of the things I very rarely see anyone mention in any post or analysis about anyone in this show, not just Vi, is that Viktor's whole speech about there being two sides to the coin of humanity is that that entire theme encompasses the show from the very start.
S1 shows every character at their arguable best. Despite all the tragedy present even in S1, this is. You see this most starkly with Caitlyn, she starts out naive, sweet, and determined to uphold real justice, only for her to lose those aspects about herself once her grief, rage, and drive for vengeance replaces those traits until Act 3.
Well, Vi's very similar in that regard. We see her in S1 as someone who is strong, tenacious, and fierce. But in S2, she really starts to lose those parts of herself.
Act 1 is where it starts. Post rocket attack, Vi is a little lost. She's wandering about Piltover, only really staying in one place long enough to be there for Caitlyn. She doesn't know what to do with herself beyond that. I think this is where we really start to see the results of Vi's incarceration. She has nowhere to go besides the Kiramman mansion. No home. No family besides her sister. Only Caitlyn.
And we can debate until we're blue in the face as to whether or not that's a good thing, but I don't know what the alternative really is for her realistically. Every member of her family besides Jinx is dead, and Vi is grappling with the idea that maybe the sister she loved is dead as well and replaced by this monster.
I want to really dig into the notion that Vi was indeed just as traumatized as Caitlyn was by the kidnapping and tea party. Seemingly so few people want to even admit that Caitlyn suffered trauma from that event, but as if this hole in the fandom's grace or awareness or even empathy—I don't know—couldn't get any worse, virtually no one ever talks about Vi's trauma from that night.
Like, she's also kidnapped, she bears her soul out to Jinx about thinking about her every night in Stillwater as she suffered in there, and Jinx—who I am not condemning or at least not in a manner that reader should assume I dislike her character—I enjoy her character and see her trauma too—returns that moment of vulnerability with blame and accusations. That Vi created Jinx, that she put her own sister on this path of madness and violence.
When, of course, in reality their relationship and the tragedy within it is the result of the cycle of violence that Vision-Silco and Jinx finally voice aloud verbatim. Again, this is yet another theme in S2 that can be traced all the way back to S1. The seasons were written one after another, after all, and I just really wish more harsh critics would think about what that actually means for the entire show and every character's entire arc.
Then after that, Jinx further twists the knife by frightening Vi with the idea that she's about to serve the severed head of her not-yet-girlfriend demanding Vi murder Caitlyn herself so they can finally be alone with one another.
I mean, do I really have to spell out just how messed up that is? Evidently I do, because I occasionally see extremely unreasonable Jinx hyperstans insist that Vi is a bad sister, that she causes or caused all the toxicity in their relationship, and that Jinx deserves better.
No, Vi should not have hit Powder and called her a Jinx that night. But some of you are condemning a teenager who just survived something almost indescribably horrific for the rest of her fucking life. It's insane.
But again, I know why Jinx feels abandoned and betrayed, she did suffer—if not more admittedly seeing as she set off the bomb—from losing Vander, Mylo, and Claggor that night.
This is why violence is a cycle. She did not have to chose the way she responded with the tea party. Yes, she's high on Shimmer, but there's some rationality there when she cheekily states "I'm not that crazy" after tormenting Vi with the cupcake.
And I know I'm rehashing more of S1 when this is supposed to be a post about S2, but I'm finally getting there. Jinx perpetuated the cycle of violence herself that night by creating a monster in Caitlyn.
Vi doesn't quite realize this yet, but all that trauma she suffered at the tea party does make her temporarily give up on Jinx. What is she supposed to do with all that, after all? How does she look at her sister the same way after going through all the fear, terror, and pain that Jinx inflicted?
But that blame Jinx put on her sticks in at least some way. Vi feels responsible for creating Jinx, for not doing enough, for placing Jinx in Caitlyn's life, for Jinx killing Caitlyn's mother. These things are not directly stated literally, but I think we can safely assume these are thoughts going through her mind.
The aimless wandering, her expression after Tobias angrily asks what she's still doing at the manor, accepting that badge Caitlyn gives her at all.
And we start to see the beginning of Vi's spiral in Act 1 when she starts drinking and meets Loris for the first time. I don't know how many of you have struggled with alcohol, but the portrayal of Vi's drinking at this point in the season is almost comical. But for those of us with experience in either alcoholism or flirting with that point, there's a bit of a sinister undertone to it. Like, you don't start drinking like that unless you want to take the edge off something. Guilt, grief, trauma, Vi has plenty of that in spades.
She turns to alcohol primarily because Vi does not know how to ask for help. The oh so enduring and traditional fatal flaw of all parentified elder sisters. You take care of everyone. You make sure they're alright. You are supposed to be there for them.
Who is there for you, in the end?
Caitlyn, in Vi's case. I mean, at this point in Act 1, I do think Caitlyn had a lot of her empathy remaining to try and help Vi with her own issues. But Vi, of course, is going to take one look at Caitlyn's own grief, decide she deserves to be comforted more, and buries all of her own suffering.
And that results in Vi losing one of the most important tools she would have had to counter a lot of Caitlyn's own spiraling. One of the reasons their relationship worked so well in S1 is that Vi could challenge Caitlyn's biases and preconceived notions and force her to see issues and people from a perspective she did not previously consider. She's able to push, prod, tease, and taunt Caitlyn so easily out of her comfort zone. And in return, Caitlyn's empathetic nature allows herself to be open for changes to her opinions and an ability to see Vi's pain.
Both of those things disappear from each of them in S2 Act 1. It's basically the kick that snaps the back of their relationship at this time.
Vi feels she can no longer push Caitlyn to think about what she's doing and thus goes along with Caitlyn's plans to use the Gray, to become an Enforcer, to hunt down her sister who she will—in reality—never be able to kill.
And Caitlyn slowly loses her ability to empathize with what Vi's feeling. Their first kiss, I honestly do not watch very often because it has that tragic element to it. Caitlyn is trying very hard to give Vi what she thinks she needs in that moment. Reassurance that she's not changing, that she'll always be there. But she's already changed by Ep3. She's already unable to realize that Vi will never be able to truly harm Jinx. She cannot see that Vi is only in this strike team to soothe her own guilt.
Vi's "I'm done blaming myself for your mistakes" is a lie. Just like her telling Caitlyn to take the shot if she had an opening is a lie. She's not consciously lying, of course, just like Caitlyn wasn't when she promised she wouldn't change, but S2 is aaaaallll about these characters completely losing themselves.
(Although, Jinx is a parallel and exception in that she spends so much of S2 finding herself.)
Then the Jinx/Vi fight happens. They start out fairly brutal, but around the time when Jinx hits one of the pillars and Vi catches her before she can land, the emotion and violence of their fight changes. Like... they're full on sibling squabbling after that, not even realizing it. Vi starts to hesitate in landing a killing blow on Jinx even before Isha steps in.
Once Isha does jump on top of Jinx, it completely snaps Vi out of it all. She and Jinx share that loaded as fuck stare down as they each realize their sister is still there.
But Caitlyn does not see this. She's twisted in her rage and grief. She's an only child. She has Jayce in her life, but the show itself never makes an argument that her and Jayce's relationship hits a level of intimacy that would help her empathize with what Vi's going through right now. (I'm not saying that Caitlyn and Jayce don't care for one another, they very much do, and I'm not trying to argue that their relationship is not valid, but it is very different than what Vi and Jinx have.)
So the breakup happens. Vi realizes she cannot kill Jinx or allow her to be killed—perhaps not fully consciously at that point, but she latches onto the excuse Isha's presence gives her and she does not let go.
We can argue that Caitlyn would not have missed, I find that debatable, she's stumbling about, her breathing is rough when it was previously controlled in every shot she takes before this, and I mean... look at how wild her eyes are. One even gets magnified for us lol.
But I think the greater point and the one that Vi was more concerned about is that Caitlyn of S1 would have never taken the risk of hitting a child. This situation would not have gotten so bad if this was Cait of S1, Vi is looking at Caitlyn and realizing that the one person she trusted to stay the same has completely changed. Right in front of her, and seemingly without her realizing it or perhaps not wanting to admit it.
They get into their fight, Caitlyn snaps completely for a variety of reasons that do not excuse her actions—and I am honestly really annoyed that I have to say this here because I can speak on Jinx all day long and most of you will assume that myself and many others are automatically sympathetic towards the horrible things Jinx has done due to her trauma, and yet very little of that same grace is ever given to Caitlyn.
Whatever.
Anyway. Caitlyn hits Vi, it's a parallel to Vi hitting Powder, one that's so obviously framed visually that we all clocked it the moment it happened. I don't know if Vi realized the parallel herself in character, but we are meant to.
What's it mean?
Well, let's look at them both.
Vi had just watched Vander die right in front of her. She saw Mylo and Claggor's bodies. She's just lost over half of her family and was orphaned. Again. Powder running up and joyfully exclaiming that her bomb finally worked was simply too much. The anger, the fear, the desperation, and the failure hit all at once and she lashes out.
Caitlyn has been blown up twice, kidnapped naked out of her own shower, forcibly dressed in some way, likely tormented to get the Cupcake nickname out of her—
I mean, do y'all wonder how Jinx even learned about 'Cupcake?' Vi does not call Caitlyn Cupcake in any scene in which Jinx is in earshot for throughout all of S1. She got it from somewhere and it was probably Caitlyn. Caitlyn whose pride and tenacity likely loathed submitting to Jinx and suffered quite a bit of humiliation if that is indeed what happened.
Caitlyn also suffered through a mock execution, Jinx holds her gun up to Caitlyn's head for quite some time and looks eager to shoot her. Like, go back and look at the tears and terror in Caitlyn's eyes throughout this entire scene. She probably thought she was going to die. Cherry on top, she fails to take the shot she had at Jinx to prevent her own mother's death.
She also lashes out. Especially after Vi accuses her of acting like Jinx. In her mind this is inconceivable, this is the highest of insults, how dare Vi compare her to that monster, right?
I don't know how as audience we can claim that Caitlyn was acting from a place of police brutality, but whatever.
Domestic violence? Maybe. I don't know. I frankly don't think that was the intention the writers were going for, or if they were they're no more saying it was okay than they were when Vi hit Powder. Both hits had severe consequences for the characters involved all around, nothing about either scene is glorified. It's intentionally depicted as horrifying and uncomfortable. There is nothing in either scene with Vi and Powder and Vi and Caitlyn that suggests that these hits were justified or proper reactions to what happened.
What they are meant to be is shorthand for human suffering and the violence that so often happens when we are pushed to our limits.
Again, the Cycle of Violence and humanity and our emotions being capable of our greatest good and greatest evil as Two Sides of the Same Coin are themes that are littered throughout the entire show. Not just when they're brought up in the moment. We are meant to take these themes in and attempt to spot each way they are used throughout the work.
Okay. Yeah, this post is also turning into a Jinx and Cait analysis, but Vi is to intertwined with them that you really can't properly discuss one without all three. Especially in this season.
Alright. That's Act 1.
Actually, you know what, let's leave it here. It looks like I'm going to be writing a fucking book over Vi and the characters around her. I'll pick up next post with an Act 2 breakdown.

My (personal) thoughts on Jimmy Mouthwashing and how the fandom perceives him: did anyone ask for this, no, but i just wanna talk about him!
Under cut to make things look cleaner
Jimmy is the most hated character in mouthwashing, and for good reason, his actions are morally wrong and what he did to Anya is just absolutely disgusting and horrible. But is Jimmy a bad character? No.
Yes he’s a bad person but thats because he’s well written, and sometimes the fandom seems to skip over all of that. There is a reason why for 80% of the game you play as Jimmy, you are supposed to feel this connection to him, you need to play as him to understand why most of the crew was able to follow him, he’s good at manipulating even the person playing.
Jimmy has so much depth to him, everything we see through his eyes is for a reason, the way we see characters through his perspective is for a reason, and thats what makes him such a great character.
Everyone tries to ignore him most of the time “oh sorry you had to draw Jimbob” or stuff like that and while it’s funny it’s not the only view you should have. Jimmy’s character is not meant to be pushed to the side, if he was you wouldn’t play the game through his eyes.
This man is smart, conniving, manipulative, and jealous of power he’s not able to handle. This is apart of the theme that is taking responsibility but Jimmy is usually mischaracterized as this dumb evil horse lover.
He’s not the only one who seems to mischaracterized, Curly is too. Everyone seems to act like he’s this perfect dude whose great for Anya and would be the hero but he is just as in fault as Jimmy.
Curly was the one who knew Jimmy and always saw the best in him, it is heavily applied that he knew what Jimmy was doing to Anya and did nothing about it when Anya didnt even have to say his name for Curly to know. This is because Curly thought of Jimmy as his friend and his right hand man (which is also kinda mischaracterized)
Curly didn’t just like, hate jimmy all of this time, no they were friends, and Jimmy’s betrayal hit him. Curly also had troubles with taking responsibility, he didn’t take responsibility for how he did almost nothing to stop Jimmy and also he couldn’t take responsibility for being the captain and keeping everyone safe.
You play as both perspectives so you see how similar the two are in some ways and how different they are in others. It’s not a question of if Curly’s better for Anya because thats not the point, the point is to show that they both are at fault and both cant take responsibility which isnt shown that often.
Anya doesn’t need Curly, she needs time to heal, she needs to go to therapy and take care of herself, not date someone who was friends with her abuser. She needs time before she should be in a relationship with anyone because what happened to her is a traumatic experience that no one should go through.
Also Daisuke and his thoughts on Jimmy as well seem to be twisted. Daisuke trusted Jimmy, theres a reason why Jimmy was able to convince him to climb into the vent, its because Daisuke felt almost kinda safe, like he could trust him.
This is because Jimmy is a good manipulator, however a character acts around Jimmy is because Jimmy has shaped them to feel that way, Daisuke wouldn’t have just climbed in there if he didn’t think that Jimmy wouldn’t mean for him to get hurt, even though we might see that he did we have to put our perspective with Daisuke.
Personally I hate Jimmys actions and who he is as a person but I love his character, i like how it’s portrayed in such a new and unique way. Every character in mouthwashing is (I didnt talk about Swansea because I couldn’t think of anything at the moment😔)
I feel as though while no one should forgive Jimmys actions, they should see that he’s a good character and very very well written and is not meant to just be pushed into the background. His toxic masculinity, his manipulative mind, his incapability to take responsibility even in the end when he put Curly in the pod instead of himself, its all written for a reason.
I uh, hope you enjoyed this ramble, it’s something I’m very passionate about because i really really like character analysis and character writing and Jimmy’s character is one of my favorites to just try and figure out the inter workings of.
Without Jimmy, Mouthwashing wouldn’t be the game it is
#mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#diasuke mouthwashing#anya mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#swansea mouthwashing#captain curly#ace rambles#uh character analysis#i think#more like fandom mischaracterization analysis lmao#i might be a little late to the Mouthwashing hype ive been a fan for a while I just now put my thought to words#might be an unpopular opinion#the fandom seems pretty divided

Do you think Inspector Nakamori or Aoko might have enemies for "hating" kaito kid?
I was thinking this after remembering a fanfic I read where people believed that Aoko and Kid were in a romantic relationship and people divided into two sides, first the people who loved the ship and second those who hated the thought that Kid had bride and this made me think that canonically in both detective conan and magic kaito, kid is like a kind of idol because we already see that he has many fans who even go to his robberies, I wouldn't be surprised if there is merchandise. which has kaito kid as the main image.
When I thought about that I couldn't help but think that like every fandom, Kaito Kid's would not be saved from having a toxic side which has its hate forums towards Inspector Nakamori or also towards the other police officers who work in the anti-robbery section that He specializes in arresting the Phantom Thief, although I feel that the person who would receive the most hate would be Ginzo since he has been wanting to arrest Kaito Kid for years.
since he only cares about arresting Kid, would go for someone more vulnerable like teenage daughter of the insector, but I feel like those people The desire to bully her wouldn't last long. Because I think Aoko would not be a girl who would hide, I feel if they attacked her on social media at first she would respond but then she would block them and if those people attack her in person they would know the wrath of Aoko's mop.
Although I feel like kaito couldn't help Aoko much either as a child or as kaito kuroba, I feel like he would protect her anonymously by leaving her nice encouraging messages on a fake social media account and defending her from haters who always look for ways to harass her either because he "accidentally" got a magic trick wrong or because on his fake account he defends her from bad comments I know kaito sometimes makes fun of Aoko and inspector nakamori but even he has limits and the people who harass Aoko passed those limits.

the petty side of me laughs at how poorly all these gwynriel comms and posts are going to age. they repeatedly talk about gwyn and azriel being mates as if it’s canon, despite zero definitive proof and more proof to the contrary, and it’s hard not to feel secondhand embarrassment for them.
at least most elriels will preface their art and posts with “this is what i think will happen because of XYZ” or “this is my favorite theory” or even outright say it’s a crack theory; meanwhile gwynriels are out here with their whole chest saying “they are MATES and i can’t wait for them to find out that they’re MATES and nothing is more important than the fact that they are FOR SURE MATES and this is CANON because SPARK”
they are setting themselves up for failure at this point and it is going to make looking back at their old comms and posts physically painful tbh.
i guess it doesn’t help they don’t have any actual canon to go off of, whereas we do and can create from that. it would make me feel bad for them if they weren’t so toxic and rude about it
anyways, thanks for listening to my rant, happy elriel announcement year!!
Hey anon 🫶
Honestly, I think they’re just going to go on a huge mass delete and erase everything they’ve said about elucien/gwynriel. It depends on how serious they take the shipwars - I know some act as though it’ll affect their actual life whilst others do not care. Idk about comms, there’s beautiful art of both elucien/gwynriel however their theories/opinion posts? Yh. Does will not age well and give second hand embarrassment. I can imagine them rereading all posts wondering where they went wrong lmfao.
The obsession w mates its so…weird? Can’t just be me who feels this way. At this point - its not even about love or true soulmates. It’s a hostage situation especially in Elucien’s case.
I think the funniest thing about antis claiming gwynriels are mates - is that simple logic, Sjms patterns and literally acosf disprove this so easily. Yet they hold onto that spark and over exaggerate it to be something it isn’t. Which in the end will backfire when it’s proven sparks ≠ mates in every case.
Yeah see, when you’re working with 0 canon or very little of it - you don’t have an outline to work with. Anything goes which is why 1) you have so many different versions of elucien/gwynriel and how their stories will go 2) thats now how canon ships work. Authors who hint at a couple a book or two prior to them being canon will always leave an outline (don’t know the technical author word for it) so you know how this couple will turn out to be.
Like - elriel is the same dynamic and have the same theories or direction of the story no matter who the elriel stan is or which platform they’re on and that’s because elriel has an outline within the book. You know how they’ll turn out to be - Elriel is just consistent whereas with the other two - you have different versions of the ships heading into different directions.
At this point, Im just waiting for the announcement and the fandoms reaction after bcs I know the announcement wont end the shipwar but instead antis will change their tune and I want to see how far they’ll go to basically backtrack what they’ve believed and said for years.
Anytime anon 💕
Happy Elriel announcement year ✨🤞

The problem with Trevor
Throughout my life I’ve been a fan of many different properties. And, as I’m a fan of them, I try my best to reach out and make some connections with people who share that interest. Along the way, I’ve come across many bad takes for many different things. Shameless (US) is one of those fandoms that have an assortment of bad takes in its space. For the most part, I’ve been able to address things and then move on. But, there’s been one take that has plagued me and driven me up the wall.
“People hate Trevor because he’s not toxic.”
This was something that was said to me to justify why some in the Shameless fandom didn’t vibe with Trevor. Not only do I find this an odd stance to take, it’s also just not correct. And I want to break down what is wrong with this statement.
But first, let me address something. Some of the hate towards Trevor is unwarranted. Some of the hate towards Trevor is unfair. And some of it is straight up transphobic. Those reasons are wrong, invalid, and will not be present in this analysis of mine and if I see it happening, I will block you. With that being said, I will go on to explain the valid reasons why I, and many others, do not enjoy Trevor as a character.
At first, I was inclined to like Trevor. He seemed nice enough (if a bit bland), gave representation to queer trans men (of which they have few), and he introduced Ian to the queer world. Why wouldn’t I like that? But, slowly, he started to bother me in many different ways. There was a pretentious element to him, an arrogance and rudeness that he showed in reference to Ian. There was a demand that Ian understand every facet of him but, in the same breath, refused to extend that back.
I tried to ignore these feelings out of guilt. I didn’t want to hate the trans character who was helping Ian to know his community. Then one scene struck me, made me angry. Monica had come back to town and Ian was uncomfortable and upset by her presence. He tried to voice these emotions to Trevor but, as I said, Trevor never tried to understand Ian’s feelings. He brushes Ian’s feelings aside and tells him he needs to get over it. Ian leaves with anger filling his veins. And never once did Trevor apologize for overstepping his bounds. Now, I will admit, the scene was a bit messy and Ian didn’t look very good himself. But that was my first true bitter taste for Trevor forming.
Still, I was determined to like him. That was, until I watched season 8.
Season 8 is a bit of a polarizing topic within the Shameless fandom. Some appreciate the decision to show the character’s less than desirable attributes unashamedly. Others feel it’s a bit too mean spirited. Whatever side of the fence you stand on though, a lot of people seem to agree that this is the season where it was abundantly clear how little Trevor cares about Ian’s wellbeing.
Throughout the season, it was abundantly clear that Ian was going through a manic episode. Ian becomes obsessive, angry, aggressive, downright cruel at some points. He is sinking and we are watching as everyone else turns a blind eye to his increasingly erratic behavior. Including Trevor.
Trevor, who has dedicated his life to those in trouble, offers no help to Ian in what is clearly a mental health crisis. In fact, for the majority of the season, Trevor sits back with a smirk on his face as Ian fights for his cause. He allows Ian to sink into his obsession, anger, aggression because it ultimately benefits him and what he cares for. Ian is walking closer and closer to the edge and those around him are choosing to not step in, not offer help. Instead, they wrinkle their noses in disgust and get angry at Ian for being in the way of their goals. And ultimately that is what happens with Trevor.
Slowly, Trevor begins to realize that Ian’s actions and behaviors are no longer reflecting well on his cause. There is also the ego bruise that Ian is now no longer focused on Trevor anymore which he voices to Fiona. He offers some hollow words about how he hopes that Ian is taking care of himself (ie; taking his medication). But I say hollow because when Ian finally breaks down and seeks out Trevor out of fear and exhaustion, Trevor offers him no help. He just rolls his eyes at Ian and accuses him of loving the growing attention (and hostility associated with that attention). He calls him selfish and then he walks away, leaving Ian feeling even more lost and tired. Ian was calling out for help in that scene and was instead scolded like he was a spoiled child throwing a fit at the supermarket. Shortly after this, Ian sets fire to a van and gets arrested. Trevor is never seen again.
I wanted to like Trevor. I wanted to be on Trevor’s side. I wanted to root for his relationship with him. I felt guilty whenever I cringed away from him. I felt like a hypocrite that his actions were affecting me in such a strong and visceral way when I can forgive other characters for the same. It took me months to finally admit to myself that I didn’t like Trevor. And I was truly heartbroken when I came to that conclusion.
The problem with Trevor is not that he is trans. The problem with Trevor is not that he’s not Mickey. The problem is that he was meant to be the solution. He was meant to be the better choice for Ian as opposed to Mickey. The Shameless writers did everything in their power to convince us that Trevor was kind, thoughtful, mature, and loved Ian. But more often than not he was shown to be petty, bitter, self righteous, and condescending beyond words. In the writers efforts to create a character that is supposed to be the definition of good they instead shone a light on his bad characteristics. For every act of kindness we would see him partake in there was him putting pressure on Ian to get into a relationship. There was the dismissal of Ian’s trauma and abuse. There was the lack of empathy when Ian was going through grief. There was the use of fat men to boost his ego. There was the benefiting from Ian’s declining mental health. And those things became harder to ignore when the writers seemed to be deep in denial about the cruelty they put in him. So, no. People don’t hate Trevor because he’s “not toxic.” People hate him because he’s not a good fit for Ian.

How do you stay positive seeing all the negativity we get for shipping this?
I don't typically talk about discourse, but I know this is something pretty much every RG shipper has faced at some point. So I'll make an exception this once. For anyone that doesn't want to hear about it, I strongly encourage you to keep scrolling.
I'm gonna keep it brief(ish) and vague, but content warning for topics of mental health, abuse, general fandom toxicity and ship discourse.
The short answer is that I've had to completely remove myself from large fandom spaces. I left Twitter last fall, I'm not in any big Discords, and I never check the fandom Reddits. I block bullies, bystanders, and bad faith arguers liberally. I mute words and phrases I don't wish to see, I don't engage with the bad faith takes, and I don't go looking in tags much either.
I surround myself with a small group of friends that I enjoy spending time with and can trust. So I still have outlets to be able to geek out without risk of dealing with the wider community's negativity. This blog was also created as a safe outlet to ramble, join together, or spread positivity about the ship. I know how rough it is for us out there - in the RWBY fandom as a whole, as well as within our own RG shipping spaces. So since I can't be an impartial community leader that helps run events or bigger spaces for us like I used to, this is kind of all I have left to offer.
The slightly longer addition that got way out of hand:
I'm not going to say it's not lonely. That I don't miss being part of a more active, wider group of people that we should have every right to join. But despite how hard some of us tried, there was nothing we could do to change the toxicity that is so deeply rooted at the core of this fandom. The fact that I even tried as hard as I did was 1. a trauma response and 2. just ended up with me - and too many of my friends - getting hurt anyway. I can't regret it because it's how I made the friends that are so dear to me now. But none of us should have had to deal with the cyberbullying, harassment, dog-piling, backstabbing, suibaiting, or any of that other garbage to find the group we have today.
It's extremely fucked up. There's no way to sugar coat it. All of it is abuse and is genuinely traumatizing to many people. I am not using these as buzzwords either. Myself and a handful of my rg shipping friends have literally gone to therapy to help us heal from all the things we've experienced in this fandom. So I have it on the authority of multiple psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers that what I am saying here is true.
Rosegarden and its shippers have become the scapegoat of a toxic community. There are big name fans who've staked their entire platforms on the idea of a rival ship being canon. And so, when they see any of us suggesting a Very Likely alternative to their reality (even if we're minding our own business), they become violent and go out of their way to try and defend it. There are entire servers and friend groups built on bullying this ship and its shippers for similar reasons. Anyone that argues against them, no matter how valid their stance, or how articulately its delivered, is going to become a target. Because we are seen as a threat to a system they directly benefit from. If any of them were to acknowledge how unreasonable or ridiculous all of this is, what would that mean for the circumstances and relationships they've built for themselves? It would all fall apart, wouldn't it?
This is why we also see fellow RG shippers invalidating or blaming us for what we go through. Because some of them have become convinced that if they side with the bullies and paint themselves as "not like those shippers", then they'll be "safe". Which as we all know isn't true. Because the antis attack each other for the smallest offences that don't have anything to do with us anyway.
The RWBY fandom is not alone in struggling with this. Fandoms everywhere are seeing these same patterns play out in different ways. A lot of people without as many stakes in the arguments will often scoff or dismiss it on the basis of it being "so serious, when it's just about fictional characters". And to that, I say: bullshit.
First of all, the people on the other side of the screen dealing with all of this are Real People with Real Feelings and their own lives that are already hard enough as it it. And these sorts of environments, as previously mentioned, can and do cause severe harm. Second, none of this hate has anything to do with fictional characters. That is part of the reason why I am still able to enjoy this ship and this show despite everything I've been through here. Because the fictional characters are simply the means to an end. And while that end is different for everyone, for the bullies - by and large - it offers them power in the face of their insecurities.
The only reason this space is as toxic as it is, is because the loudest voices are often the most emotionally immature. All the reasonable people see the infighting going on and know that engaging with it is a pointless waste of energy. As someone that did try to fight it, I truly don't blame any of them for staying uninvolved. But power comes in numbers; so until a large enough group of the reasonable ones come forward, this fandom will only continue on the course it's headed.
I rambled a lot and I'm not even sure how much of this is relevant to your question. If i were to give a tl;dr to answer you, it is this:
You need to curate your own experience by setting boundaries for yourself that cannot easily be crossed by people or content that is going to upset you.
Recognizing the reason people behave the way they do towards all of this has very little, if anything, to do with the show, the ship itself, or the people shipping it is very liberating.
Don't be like how I was. Don't try and force it when it isn't working. If you are in an environment or a habit that you are getting more harm than joy from: leave. It doesn't always feel like it in the moment, but it is better to be alone than to be surrounded by people who suck. And when you shed the ones that don't treat you well, you open yourself up to more like-minded people that will want to be friends with you anyway.
I say this genuinely with only love and support in my heart, but: touch grass. As often as you can, as often as you need to: get offline. Read a book, engage in other hobbies, connect with people in real life, go for a walk or just get outside if you can. When you start connecting with the reality on your side of the screen more, it puts how pointless and absurd so much of this discourse really is into perspective. Moderation is key.
I'm sorry that all of the negativity has got you down. No one wants to acknowledge how much this sort of thing can affect our well being, but I know first hand how bad it can get. None of it is fair. The feelings you're having are valid and aren't anything to be ashamed about. If you have friends or family you can rely on for support, reach out to them when you need it. If you're in a place where you think the help you need is a bit more specialized, you have my support and encouragement in making the call or doing the research to get started. Therapy isn't accessible and doesn't always work for everyone, but it's not the only option. Before I could afford it, I micro-dosed by reading self-help books and following therapists on Instagram, lol.
I'm not sure what else I can say, and have said more than I meant to anyway. But hang in there, you're not alone, and take care of yourself, okay?💕🫂

Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader: Rite Here, Rite Now Part 1
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ea43c8a8efb98548ab10981f0d30e16e/bec542654a9742dc-16/s540x810/9f51f090d361f692a9c4a51eb1ac5632791f9300.jpg)
This two shot fic is dedicated to that poor soul on TikTok getting shitty comments about a headcanon of Eddie liking Ghost. Fandom has become so damn toxic bro. Who cares about what an imaginary character likes or dislikes?? We are cringe, we are legion. We make out of pocket headcanons sometimes. Like come on, Eddie might “theoretically” dislike Mary On A Cross specifically for various reasons, but I could see him having some favorites. You can’t say he would entirely hate Ghost when fucking Year Zero and Mummy Dust exist. Or the whole of Prequelle as an album. I had to laugh at one person saying he liked Avenged Sevenfold (it didn’t exist in the 80’s and neither did Ghost like we are literally arguing about shit he wouldn’t have known about be so serious rn). But I digress. I’ve even gotten a couple hateful comments on a fun little TikTok I made and I honestly have just been deleting them and blocking. Don’t even want to deal with people’s bullshit anymore. Please enjoy this spite fic and continue writing and having fun babes. Go against the flow and make Eddie proud.
Part 1 (You are Here), Part 2
***
Every member of Corroded Coffin could tell when you arrived to a function. Eddie knew the sound of your car like a cat that knows when its owner is home, and he’d be waiting outside the school to greet you first. That and the car make and model. Someone always called it if not Eddie. He’d been off his game today though, definitely the excited nerves. Jeff called out your 1979 Volkswagen Beetle heading up the driveway by slugging Eddie hard on the bicep, Gareth and Dougie immediately following up with calling “no tag backs” as they rushed to hit each other and Eddie like a bunch of middle schoolers. Eddie almost got nailed by Dougie’s beefy fist until he nimbly dodged out of the way, cradling his prized Warlock like it was a newborn.
“God dammit, easy asshole!” Eddie laughed. “Don’t be hitting my baby! I need her intact if I’m going to impress our songstress.”
“Trust me Ed, she doesn’t need more impressing. You had her in a tizzy when you asked her to write a song for you. I wonder what she came up with.” Gareth said, leaning forward so his hands were settled on both his high and medium toms, he was watching your approach intently with a gleam in his eye. “She didn’t even make it to campaign on Friday. Must have really been in the zone.”
You parked the car against the side of the driveway, emerging looking as though you’d just swallowed a whole mouthful of cry baby sour gum. Your lips were pressed tightly together, clutching your fat Trapper Keeper to your chest as you approached the group.
“Hey sweetheart!” Eddie called, waving you over enthusiastically. “You okay?”
“Eddie… God it’s so bad… It’s worse than I thought.” You said, grimacing.
God you looked delicious. He couldn’t help himself but to stare and smile like a dope. With each step your flowing gray skirt swished enticingly side to side, and with a bit of pride Eddie noticed you were wearing the Twisted Sister shirt he’d distressed for you, looking like an adorable snack of a metalhead with your black clothes, black opaque tights and dirty Chucks.
Eddie’s smile faltered only slightly when he heard your self depreciation.
“Oh come on, can’t be that bad. Not with those grades you’ve got in English. Let me see…”
“Fuck no! No seriously… it’s worse than you think.” You insisted, shaking your head and pulling away from his outstretched hand, “It’s so… God dammit! What the hell was I thinking…?”
Gareth, Jeff and Dougie left their instruments to approach you, Eddie putting both hands on your shoulders to comfort you.
“Hey, hey… come on, don’t be like that.” He said, smile gone and a more serious look on his face. “I get it, I really do. It comes with the territory of writing your own songs. Trust me, I’ve done it for years. You won’t pick it up overnight, and whatever you think is weak we can work on it together. I’m a DM honey, I can have my pen out faster than you can blink and help redraft as many times as it takes.”
“Oh… god dammit… okay, fine…”
You reluctantly handed Eddie the trapper keeper, the velcro making a harsh rip as he pulled it open to the first page where your lyrics neatly sat waiting for him to peruse. Eddie’s eyebrow raised when he saw the title, “Square Hammer”, outlined in red ink.
“ ‘Square Hammer’? … Huh… I like it, that’s good.” Eddie nodded, and continued to read on.
The lyrics were certainly unique to say the least. It was obvious you’d tried to go with a theme based on the prompt he’d given you: something that oozes the brooding dark metal he envisioned Corroded Coffin would croon to thousands of fans. You certainly had an affinity for the macabre, and he knew he could trust you with everything he wanted in his vision. Then again you could have written the cheesiest, poppy trash in the world and he would have loved it. He was extremely biased, far too sweet on you for his own good. But these weren’t bad at all. The lyrics reminded him of old Hollywood vampire movies, echoing the work of Doctor Faustus with the thematic element in the song. The voice of the lyrics seemed to be coming from an otherworldly entity, one summoned to offer power and prestige to the listener.
And Eddie was obsessed with every word the further he read on.
“Woah, woah…”
His eyes widened with every sentence he read.
“Holy shit…”
Powers clandestine, solving a crooked rhyme… Every line, no matter how simple, packed a lot when combined in the collective.
Eddie finally looked up at you, completely bewildered.
“You wrote this by yourself?!” He croaked.
You were embarrassed to hell, curling in on yourself and looking like you wanted to die.
“Ye… yeah… I… When you asked me to write for you, I got really stuck on what I wanted to do. But I remember you mentioned Black Sabbath was one of your first covers, and then I couldn’t get the image of the coffin out of my head because, you know, “Corroded Coffin”… and then we were reading Faustus in Mrs. O’Donnell’s class and I thought since you asked me to do you this favor and Faustus is all about favors…-“
You were rambling. Not even paying attention to Eddie’s continually growing grin. He was bouncing on the balls of his feet the longer you ranted on, until his untamable outburst silenced you.
“THIS IS AMAZING!” Eddie was screaming, scaring the shit out of everyone. “Holy fuck sweetheart! Are you bullshitting me?! This is… fuck! We’ve been stressing for new material for next month’s gig at The Hideout and you just gave it to us on a silver platter?! Jesus H.!”
“Bwha-?!”
“Check this out…!” Eddie turned away to show his friends while you quietly protested, unable to speak as he passed the paper around. The guys crowded around, each one shouting out when they saw a favorite part, “hammering the nails into the sacred coffin” quickly became a favorite, because they immediately began trying to work out how they could fit the lyrics to sound.
“All we gotta do is work out a melody and we’re in business baby!” Eddie said. “This is bitchin’!”
“But it doesn’t even make any sense!” You argued. “Like seriously? The entrance to the shrine part does not fucking fit, I only wrote it because I couldn’t come up with a better rhyme with clandestine!”
“Who cares?” Eddie cried. “It’s badass as hell! The imagery is absolutely savage… ‘Hiding from the night, sacrificing nothing’, and don’t let me forget about the little tongue in cheek line you added about hammering nails into a sacred coffin!”
“It’s fucking great!” Echoed Jeff.
“You should be proud. You managed to take our style and give it a unique spin, that’s not something anyone can do.” Eddie praised. “God dammit… I’d have been a millionaire by now if I could write like this.”
“You… you really liked those parts?” You asked cautiously.
“Of course I did sweetheart! This is real metal shit right here. And the part with the ‘crooked rhyme’? That really captured the creep factor I was looking for. Shit… what’s more metal than summoning a demon for a deal? That’s exactly what Corroded Coffin needs in its material. I love this little brain of yours!”
“Don’t forget Ed!” Dougie cut in. “ ‘Are you ready to swear right here right now before the devil’?!”
“Bitchin’! Keep this up, and I’m gonna wanna make you write all of Corroded Coffin’s songs from now on!” Eddie beamed happily.
“We gotta get the melody worked out!” Jeff said, “Any ideas? I could come up with a few…”
The boys began gabbing together, Eddie unable to help himself as he began to strum his precious 1984 BC Warlock, his black beauty. Without a doubt he could already envision how he could make his baby purr for you, impress you, take you out finally.
And then you changed his world forever.
“… I had an idea for a melody already…” you said quietly.
All eyes turned to you. The guys were thunderstruck.
“Seriously?! Lyrics and a melody?! You’re spoiling the shit out of me sweetheart! Jeff, let her borrow your…-“
“No… no I… I don’t know how to play guitar…” you said, cutting off Eddie sheepishly, “But I… I brought my Casio with me…”
“Where is it?!”
“In the trunk of my bug…”
“Well go get it! Show me whatcha got sweetheart!”
Eddie followed you to the front of the Volkswagen. Everyone always thought the front trunk was the coolest shit ever and he was no exception. The cool car only added to the many things he liked about you. You took out the obnoxiously large keyboard and the stand, fumbling to close the trunk until Eddie stepped in with an “easy… I got it”, slamming the trunk shut and helping you lift the Casio like a gentleman. You were shaking, vibrating with embarrassment so hard that Eddie had to help you plug everything in and adjust the sound, hovering and reaching over you on purpose hoping you’d notice and feel his burn for you.
“Alright sweetheart? Show us what you’ve got.”
You turned on the Casio and fingered the keys gently, warming up with a few chords as you tried to soothe the shaking in your fingers. Fiddling with the settings, you stalled as long as you could while the boys waited patiently. Once you found the setting you wanted, you went for it.
It was like a demon had possessed your body. The melody was quick, but it packed a hell of a punch. It was in the key of D minor, and you had ironically chosen what sounded like a combination of 1960’s psychedelic sticky rhodes and Transylvanian organ to achieve the effect you wanted. The sound overall was eerie, yet enchantingly fun all at the same time. And your singing! You were singing softly under your breath, rocking yourself to the melody on the tips of your worn out sneakers, and you had quite the set of pipes! Despite your shot nerves, you’d clearly come up with something truly special that no one else in the entire world could have conceived of.
It wasn’t the traditional metal Eddie had in mind, more avant-garde, theatrical even. Whereas he had expected a sound more like Black Sabbath, you played something not out of place at a theater performance of Dracula. But this sound… there was something that nagged him about it. It was a sound that Eddie could imagine playing to arenas of screaming, adoring fans.
“Gentlemen… that’s our fucking song!” Eddie cried, “That’s our song, it’s a goddamned masterpiece!”
The Casio halted, and your mouth was hanging open mid play.
“What?! How-…” you began.
“I can already hear the riff, Ed what do you think of following with standard tuning instead of going to D minor?” Jeff picked up his Gibson and began to play, mimicking what he heard on your Casio by ear. “If you move it, the sound is way off from what I’m envisioning. But if you keep it at standard you leave it easier on the fingers with the couple of open notes when you start stretching.”
“Yeah, yeah! If you tune it down it’s going to sound off with her playing when you hit the chords.” Eddie agreed, immediately looking back at you. “Play it one more time sweetheart?”
You cautiously complied, going through the melody one more time as Jeff began to follow with you. Eddie was completely absorbed in your music, listening to both you and Jeff play and following along quietly. The warlock in his hands eventually couldn’t be helped, humming to life when he started playing a chord at a time by ear. As he played, he kept you repeating the melody over and over, both Eddie and Jeff deep in concentration on the sound. It was getting almost exhausting trying to continually repeat the sound until they got it right.
“D minor.” Eddie said, playing a note.
“Then she does B flat there.” Jeff played.
“A minor.” They said in unison.
“C. And that’s what I’m thinking your rhythm guitar can do, meanwhile, I’ll keep the root of the chords for the riff so I can follow her keys.” Eddie said, and he began to perfectly copy your melody. “Okay sweetheart, just one more time… and then let’s bring everything together.”

absolutely loving your kunidazai analysis chart and also your kunikida analyses in general!!! hoping to read more
it still saddens me that skk fans will stop at no one, not even the author who gave them everything, to get what they want..
AAAAAAAAA THANK YOU!!!!
I'm glad you like it, when I start getting into analyses I feel like I become less coherent and just feel like this 90% of the time
I do not plan on stopping being unhinged about Kunikida or Kunidazai any time soon. Analyzing BSD is fun between analyzing the series as it is, and also fun looking at the IRL author's life and work and trying to find potential information that could be relevant to the characters.
Also yea about SKK fans they are ummm... I feel like this might come across as being over dramatic but I genuinely haven't been in a fandom this bad at shipping and mischaracterizations since I was into Hetalia. Not all SKK shippers obviously, but there is an extremely loud portion of SKK shippers who are some of the most immature and toxic shippers I've seen in a long time.
I do not believe SKK shippers who are like this are actually fans of BSD, I think they're just fans of the ship. They don't care about BSD outside of SKK shipping and maybe other popular ships like SSKK or RanPoe.
People intentionally misinterpreting Asagiri-sensei's words to boost their flavorless ship kinda irks me. No he isn't being possessed by a SKK shipper every time he tries to write KNDZ, no he isn't prioritizing SKK because its "the better ship", and no its not like he doesn't know what series he writes and all the SKK bait he's put in it. He quite literally said something along the lines of "I want to write the Kunikida-Dazai duo more, I think I could write them endlessly, and I hope to make Kunikida more active in the story again. Kunikida and his duo with Dazai got pushed to the side because my producer wants me to write Chuuya."
IDK if this is gonna get me crucified but I am starting to believe that SKK is kinda ruining BSD. Not because of the duo itself but rather the push to prioritize them bc of money, it takes away from developing other characters. Maybe I'm just an angry biased Kunikida fan, but getting confirmation that SKK and Chuuya are the reason why he's been shafted stings.
And then shippers threatening Asagiri-sensei over him saying the obvious, that SKK isn't gonna be canon? We need to actively put down behavior like this. Its not only gonna ruin the quality of the manga, but it can cause it to be cancelled entirely if he feels like his life is threatened if he continues.
IDK at the end of the day I hope whatever plans Asagiri has for Kunikida end up being really cool and I hope its not ruined because of immature and insatiable SKK fans.
#I had a lot more to say than I planned I am sorry#I must reiterate I don't hate S/KK as they are in canon#but oh god the fandom makes me loath them#and their recent behavior around the lecture has only made my disdain stronger#why are y'all so hostile to kunikida specifically and his duo with dazai#are you afraid of competition#why does it matter if its canon anyways y'all were clearly not paying attention to canon before#also I don't think I need to say this but I'm not talking about each individual S/KK shipper to exist#I've had pleasant experiences with shippers before#but oh god the bad ones are really bad and ruin it for everyone

Hey I just want to make this post really quickly to say:
All of you out there that are passionate about a piece of media, even just a little, just know that you are the foundation of what makes fandom spaces fun, creative, kind and enjoyable. NEVER forget that.
People try to bring other fandom spaces down all the time. Every fandom has its toxicity, and some bad sides are definitely more substantial and visible than others. It’s just what happens when you put a bunch of people together in one community, and shit’s bound to crop up at some point. But no matter what people’s general opinions on YOUR passions are, never, EVER let them get you down. Because your passion overrides any “toxicity” your space has.
Those that are creative, those that are analytical, those that have that very clear and very beautiful passion and love in their hearts for the media they talk about is what makes fandom spaces so beautiful and fantastic to me. Seeing others like me talk about and express through their own mediums just how much something I love means to them makes me feel a warmth in my heart you can’t get anywhere else.
So, I just wanted to say: I love you all. Please never let anyone get you down. You are all amazing, passionate people, and you are what makes fandom so special, to me and so many others. Keep doing what you’re doing.
#I will ALWAYS be known in my social circles as the person who’s spent WAY too much money on their omori collection#and I love every goddamn second of it. I love looking around my room and seeing MY pure love and passion for something.#I love logging onto tumblr and seeing so many others#whether they’re in a fandom I’m personally passionate about it not#express that love in their own ways. it makes me feel so happy#I myself can be VERY sensitive to hatred towards my passions or the fandoms for them at times#because I love them so much#but sitting down for a moment#looking around and realising how much you love this thing#that feeling is ALWAYS worth more than the hatred you see. please remember that#I see fandom members and spaces get attacked and ridiculed all the time simply because people don’t like the media#and to those people I say fuck off. and I urge you to enjoy what you love anyway#because YOU love it. YOU care about it. and god that’s all that matters#it is special to you and you deserve to enjoy it and love it in peace.#i love you all <3#fandom

people are starting to become really racist about chinese people in light of… the recent developments in the game. which… idk it’s so weird because how are you consuming someone’s art but also calling them horrid things because you don’t understand the difference in how their society is structured compared to yours. it’s starting to feel very uncomfortable. was the fandom always this horrible? (i’m new but man all i’ve seen is toxicity on every platform, and also at times a blatant erasure of the fact that these characters are chinese).
No, this is nothing new. And this fandom is especially terrible because of how big it's gotten. I think this is basically sums it up
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/34e8a0ad01d7396f9957ae9e09abcd25/7ba88d324be9e1cb-b0/s540x810/3e2876d49327de8a4176d4517d0ec9074f76f3d0.jpg)
This fandom has no fandom etiquette because there are so many non-fandom people here
The game attracts all sorts of people who have no business being in fandom and will actively hate on it despite not being it's target audience (see: the dudebros who believe women shouldn't have sexual needs)
This is why the lads side of twitter/tiktok/every big platform is just fucking horrible. It's a mix of the platform already being a cesspool and every normie who has no concept of respect for art, different cultures, and people who enjoy the game
There will always be horrible people in the world, but twitter/tiktok just puts a spotlight on them, creates an echo chamber of bad takes, and encourages them to hate and disrespect the game and its real fans even more
I've given up on twitter for this reason, and I'm staying on tumblr because... If people are on tumblr, they're here because they know how to act in fandom. And if they don't, it's much easier to block a few handfuls of haters than to try to ignore a whole percentage of normies on other social media platforms

I agree being a Sukuna fan is pretty hard since a lot of G fans are too toxic. I also feel bad for Gege since G fandom always downplay other characters and arcs Gege made for other characters
Reminds me of Homer with Poochie who wanted EVERYTHING to be about Poochie lol
Being a fan of any character in this fandom that isn't a popular one is an experience, anon, I'll tell you that. Finding people who are more open-minded towards discussing those less-talked about characters or that share your opinions is even harder, lol.
Still, this is the first fandom I've been in where I have a hard time connecting with it at all because man, this fandom really struggles with objectivity and being at peace with where the story currently is. I had to walk away from the bird app because of the way I was tired (and frustrated) about people continually making theories about a dead character's comeback with 0 evidence and being dismissive of the current plot. Like outside of Yuuji and Sukuna, Higuruma is also one of my favorite characters, and even though I don't talk about him much, I'm at peace when it comes to his death. I don't consider it a waste nor do I consider that he could've been more developed. I accept canon and the role he played in the story, because I realize he is just a side character and this is not a story about him. If I want to see a story about him, I could just write one.
I genuinely have no problem with people loving characters nor being insane over their faves (I do that too) but it becomes tiring when you're met with 487283737 posts of the same thing over and over and over again while looking for analyses related to the current going-ons in the plot. Like Gojo had been dead for some time to the narrative yet the fandom still refuses to let him rest even though he found peace in death and I find that ironic because they won't accept his actual characterization, paint the author as a hater (even tho he created him so that argument makes no sense) and believe they know him best, even better than the author. Do they? Are they truly his fans if they can't accept what canon is telling them or fans of a version of him which never existed in the first place? Like real fans accept the fact that he's dead and are not arguing everything in the story is about him. I know that because one of my friends loves him a lot (he's his #1) yet he doesn't belittle anyone, nor does he hate Sukuna and is still keeping up with the story. Normal fans do still exist, even though they are a rarity in this fandom.
I also feel bad for Gege because people are still hating on him simply because he doesn't do what is common in shonen works. If those people are dissatisfied with his writing, then why not just read a work which will satisfy their cravings or write a story they wish to read? Why not read Naruto, a classic shonen where nobody ever dies, everybody gets to shine and has about half a story dedicated to the side-characters and gives them development? It's everything they've been looking for in jjk, and yet they're still reading jjk, expecting it to deliver these tropes which exist in other shonen and then get disappointed when it doesn't. Just because it is marketed at such, it doesn't mean it'll be a copy or a ripoff, or for that matter, that it will follow certain rules or tropes applied to shonen. Every story has its own rules and deserves to be treated as such.
As somebody who had started reading jjk with 0 expectations, I am actually quite enjoying the wild ride that is jjk.

The Isles is Particularly Awful for Sequel/Next Gen Stories
With Belos gone, the Isles loses literally the only thing that makes it unique from any generic fantasy setting out there: The Coven System. Worse yet is how much the show tries to blame every bad thing on the Isles on Belos and his collaborators, portraying pre-Belos as utopian, so now that he's gone, you have to retcon that part of the show to have ANY real threats.
That's really the main thrust of this. I could expand but the basic point is that there's just nothing to do with the Isles that's better than doing it during Belos' reign. You could explore the Isles but now you're just messing with monsters in their ecosystem who were never a real threat in the show. You could try to depict the reconstruction but there's no tension between people of the Isles, just a need to rebuild. Besides, how do you even portray that when the Isles has zero culture so there's nothing to explore in how they are besides how they feel about Belos falling which is seen as a positive by EVERYONE if the group shot at the end, where even old enemies are now on Luz's side, is any indication.
Really, the only thing about the Isles that is still intact in a way that makes for interesting storytelling AT ALL is Hexside and pretty much just because it's a generic fantasy school that you can do whatever you want with. Which... Yeah, that's pretty much all I've seen. Despite the fact that the fandom immediately went for fankids after the finale, no one seems to have anything to do with them besides throwing out concepts and shipping. Or, you know, recycling old plot lines but with the new cast, committing the cardinal sin of next gen stories of just having an excuse to reset and retell. *glares at Boruto*
But what else are you supposed to do? Unless you want to say Eda and Raine failed in reforming the Isles, you have no conflict there. You either have to bring back old villains, bring in an invading force, both... Or change things so drastically that I question why you're not just doing an original story since you're having to put in that much work anyways.
I guess MAYBE you could do the Isles integrating with humans but like... The show made it clear that that's not a hard process either direction. And why should it be? The Isles is so generic as to barely feel like the other world that it is instead of just our world but with elves.
Even Amphibia, which ends similarly happy, still gives people more to do simply by the fact that it explored its setting. There's still so much out there. The three races still have to figure out how to coexist. Andrias wasn't a toxic power structure, he was THE power structure and the entire world has to recover from an incredible ecological disaster instead of just a glitter bomb.
So yeah, good on those who are having fun with their fan kids but I'll just continue to hope they don't try to continue TOH, not when they left themselves nowhere to go.

From one gwynriel stan to another, I gotta rant. I’ve seen a lot of anti-Azriel commentary by Eluciens the past few days and it drives me nuts. I agree that Azriel isn’t well-suited for Elain, and he has a lot of growth and development. But Eluciens seem to take this as a nod to start picking out every flaw of Az and ragging on him in order to elevate Lucien. I adore Lucien, but Eluciens should fight a way to bolster their ship without acting like Az is Satan’s spawn. Idk if they’ve been acting up as a recently bc it’s more certain that Azriel/Gwynriel’s book is next, and they have to wait longer for an Elucien book.
Hello Anon,
All of what you said!!!! It is frustrating and it just builds so much bad blood 😤
Its not just that Az isn't suited for Elain we agree Elain is also not suited for Az as well , we don't want her anywhere around him. He needs someone who won't judge him and we all know how Elain was with Nesta. Az has a lot of work to do and Elain is only bad news.
A lot of new Eluciens and some of the older ones are basically Elriel like ( the aggressive ones) in nature.... They are aggressive, often Supremely stupid and try to cover all of their idiotic behaviour behind politically sensitive words such as feminism, misogyny etc.
Not all Eluciens are like that and I know that for a fact , some of my friends are Eluciens and they are great human beings and know how to celebrate Lucien without pulling Azriel into the equation. If you can't elevate a character without taking Azriel's name that in itself tells you the story.
They are obviously bothered by how popular Az is and he clearly lives rent free in their head !!!! ... And you are right they are acting out because SJM basically slapped them all in the face by giving us a glimpse of a different side to Az is in HOFAS and clearly people are thrilled and excited for his story .... it would rub antis in the wrong way and I am literally laughing everytime I see a sad attempt at ... Lucien also did this I give him a 10 ...please people pick him.... reeks of desperation!!!!
Lucien is a great character and he has so much potential its a shame that people don't know how to celebrate him in a positive fun way.
Gwynriels should just ignore the noise , just know that this fandom LOVES Az .... the number of stans to antis with Az is 500:1 so we are in a good position and we should be smug about it. If you continue seeing anti Az posts , stop sharing or interacting with all Elucien related content on all platforms and block the toxic ones !!! When Gwynriels can call out bad behaviour from our side I don't see why Eluciens can't do the same!!!

So we can all agree that the Sun and Moon fandom is dying right?
There is a quiz at the end of the post.
Me myself and many others have left. Whether it is due to the rising toxicity of the show or the fans. At this point it is simply a creative backdrop. Something you take ideas off of instead of something that you enjoy and turn into a AU. And at this point if you have it as an AU. You feel as if you need to somehow say it's separated or is only based off of the good old days.
The fact that there is a difference between the good old days and what has happened is sad. I will admit I haven't been here forever. I wasn't here since the beginning. I wasn't watching the episodes upload as I watched. But I did do my best to watch every single lore post I can find. Anything that wasn't a standard gaming episode. So I can at least say that I tried to follow the story.
And to put it slightly the story has gone sour. Characters have stopped feeling right in their actions. Underlying messages have started to get toxic. Many bad guys have gotten so characterized that them being bad guys doesn't feel right. Are good characters no matter how developed they get either regress due to plot convenience. Or have died and basically reset the storyline.
The story seems stuck. There's some gems here and there but it seems like they can't figure out the next story action. And even if they do, it gets so much hate from the fandom that it struggles to continue. It feels like they continuously reset and reset to try and find a story that the fans will enjoy. It's not working unfortunately. There have been many retcons due to this. And there has also been many splits.
And this is not even mentioning the toxicity of the fandom itself at this point. That's basically split itself in two and the other will hate the other. This happened most obviously with the Moon X Solar argument. Where you either enjoy it or you don't enjoy it. It has caused a multiple splits because of differences in morals. It's just created a hostile environment between fans.
And I'm not making this post a point fingers at the whole argument. I've researched it and I know why some people believe it's okay. Whether it's because they believe solar never really wanted to be a part of the family. Or the simple understanding that by most laws, incest between adopted family members is okay. I understand that people have reasons to like it. It doesn't mean that these reasons are shared though. It doesn't mean that the moral implications of that relationship don't affect some people. And neither side is willing to come to a mutual agreement.
This is also not bringing up the fact that the whole villain versus hero argument is starting to become even more split. Sun, Moon, Lunar, Earth, Solar are both currently on the good side. While Eclipse, Blood Moon, and a couple others are still obviously on the bad guy side. But Eclipse and Blood moon have started to become more and more relatable. People can no longer look at those characters and just imagine the villainy part. Especially when the heroes decide to mock the suffering that they did to the villains in the first place.
That is my personal scare between the fandom right now. I can't look at eclipse and not deny that Moon's actions were the reason of it. I can't look at moon and justify years of abuse. Whether it was old moon or new moon at this point. I can't stand and justify treating blood moon as a villain has tested its limit. I can't deny that blood moons actions are more so based on need than actual want. And the creators forcing that idea backfired enough that they barely have him as a character anymore.
There is a split between people who want to support moon and sun with all their actions. There is a split between people who think solar should be considered a part of the family or not. There is a lack of storylines that don't have half of the community hating upon it. There is a lack of feeling an actual tug of conflict in the stories due to the villains being so understandable. There is a hostility between the fan base because of all of these.
I put out a poll a long time ago. Asking people why they basically watched the show anymore. The general consensus was they were just watching the show because they needed to. Because they felt obligated to follow the plot wherever it went. I feel like the fan base that is following the show for their own enjoyment is slowly disappearing. And this is not talking about the amount of people that have straight out left due to all the reasons above.
Whether it is the show's fault for not being able to supply the engaging store anymore that people can enjoy. Or it is the fandom for it's toxic split between the morals of adoption incest, or the feeling that the villain shouldn't be getting as much hate as they do. The show was currently dying on both sides honestly. And the only reason many are continuing to watch the show, is the hope that it will get better, and the need to supply their AUs off of it.
How many of your friends have left because of these reasons? How many of them have had the conundrum of feeling like they need to stay because leaving feels like a betrayal to others or themselves.
How many of us are only holding because of nostalgia?
It feels like nowadays people either choose to blindly follow due to an overall support or question constantly if they should. It feels as if artists that give the show their thumbnails now, are the only people that do stuff happily with it. A conspiracy part of my brain wants to say that's only because not supporting it would mean they wouldn't have there art publicly endorsed. But that's only conspiracy and no fact.
The show has lost its splendor. As of now it's really only a character backdrop to some. A list of events and ideas that you could pull and twist to fit something kinder or better. It's like as if we're using the Sun and Moon like Robin Hood. Stripping it down to the basics just so we can share our twist of the same tale. I have heard many times from people that AUs are more enjoyable right now than actual Canon. I myself have said for multiple stories that they do not follow past backup eclipses death. Which in my opinion is when the show really started to go downhill.
I'm going to ask this question again. Because I feel as if it is important for people who read this post to see it under a newer light.
I will note. If you reblog this post just to argue that it's not dying, That solar X moon isn't incest, that characters like eclipse and blood moon should be treated as the absolute villains they are, and seeking Sun and Moon are evil is dumb. I will not respond. To be honest I will not respond to many reblogs of this. I'm simply putting this information out earnestly as my opinion. I am not here to hate on the artists. I am not here to hate on your difference in opinion. I am not here to say that the show writers are dumb or money monsters. This is my opinion. And if you wish to fight it, then you are not willing to accept differencing opinion.
