i think if paramount wants to keep doing beloved character spinoffs of star trek instead of creating new crews and ships and stories they should make a show where will riker and tom paris are stay at home dads who meet at their kids' daycare or a playdate or something and discover a mutual love for holonovels and vintage stuff and become best friends and start a blog or a podcast or something together, and the main problem of the show is that starfleet and their respective former commanding officers keep dragging them out of retirement even though they just want to make pizza and talk about the new story they're writing together.

I love the scene in feet of clay where the mob is trying to kill the golem and carrot comes in and is like you can't kill the golem and they're like well it's not alive it's property, and he's like ok then I could charge you with destruction of property if you try to smash it, and they're like well I heard a golem killed an old man and he's like well if it's property and not a person then it can't kill anyone, see my sword? Couldn't blame my sword if I stabbed you. Either it's a person and destroying it would be murder or its a thing and it can't have committed murder. And then he walks the golem back to where it works, and the boss tries to turn it out onto the street because he heard that a golem had killed someone, and carrot is like if you do that then I'll charge you with littering. It would be malicious compliance if carrot could be malicious

I just made this eggnog

it's so fucking good

the original recipe doesn't have alcohol but I added in some fireball (which means I didn't need the cloves or cinnamon)

I actually couldn't find the recipe online anywhere so I had to just take notes from the tiktok, I did have to guess a couple things tho because he doesn't always specify exact measurements

I'll put the recipe as I did it under a cut, in case anyone wants to use it

EDIT: I have made some improvements to this recipe based on my family's feedback over the past couple years

5 egg yolks (save the whites)

slowly whisk in 3/4 cup sugar

2 cups milk 1 cup heavy cream to a pot

scald milk/cream mix

add half the cream mix to the egg/sugar mix

add combined mix back to pot

low heat until thick

1/2 cup fireball

two caps of vanilla

beat egg whites

1/2 tbsp sugar

beat again

fold egg whites into the rest of the mix

stir

leave in fridge to chill

serve with a teeny tiny sprinkle of nutmeg and cinnamon on top

Antis, I think y'all need to understand some things:

Emotions = / = legality or morality

A crime is not a crime because it's "icky".

A crime is a crime because someone in some way got hurt. This is why something like thievery is illegal. This is why murder is illegal. This is the real reason why rape is illegal.

These crimes caused real people real emotional and physical distress.

A drawing/cartoon/written work can make someone sad or angry or squicked out, but that is NOT the same thing as being traumatized. Reading a bad book is not something that will affect your psyche for years to come and will possibly need therapy for. A real person is not being harmed, especially not the viewer/reader. You're not a victim, you're not standing up for victims, stop acting like it.

Also, sometimes: legality = / = morality and vice versa

It used to be legal to own slaves. It used to legal to treat black people like they weren't human. It used to be illegal for women to vote. It used to be illegal to be gay, and it still is in some places. It used to be legal to force people with disorders like anxiety and ADHD to go to horrible mental asylums where they were treated like animals. Today, in some places in America, abortion is illegal.

One more thing.

The way they got support for these things? The way they got the power and permission to do these things? The way they got people like you to let them do these things?

They claimed the people they wanted to attack weren't normal. That they weren't like you or me or the one saying this who is totally on your side, they definitely won't go after you the moment you do something they don't like or think you're a threat to them or you certainly weren't their next target anyway.

So when you say people aren't normal, that you only like normal things and those other things you don't like aren't normal so of course you're against them... You are repeating the parts of history that it's warning against.
