Gotham has so many rogues and most of them don’t actually cause that much trouble in the grand scheme of things, so other than the really big ones, like joker, news about Gotham rogues can get pretty muddled outside the city which leads the JL to believing that Batman and Manbat are the same person and that their colleague sometimes turns into a giant bat monster but they don’t bring it up bc they think it’s a sensitive topic

Which eventually leads to a scenario like this mid combat when they’re getting pretty desperate:

Green Lantern: I know we’re not supposed to talk about it or whatever, but it would be really helpful if you could turn into a giant bat right now, spooky

Batman, having zero context for this comment, pausing mid fight to look at Hal like he just grew a second head: What the fuck are you talking about, Jordan?

Green Lantern, suddenly much less confident: Um…you know how you…turn into a giant bat?

Batman, utterly bewildered, turning to the other members but finding that he is clearly the only one out of the loop: what is happening right now

Watched a playthrough of Mouthwashing. Adding it to my list of "examples why "walking sims" are actually the best at telling complex and character-focused narratives in video games."

I think the game really justified its genre of gameplay and took advantage in really creative and inspiring ways. Like through the use of interactive metaphor: in a sort of dream sequence, you're told to "take responsibility," but every time you turn around to start walking you're reset. So you have to "take responsibility" by walking backwards and refusing to look where you're going.

I hope this game inspires more writers and devs to look into the walking sim genre and its interactive potential to tell their stories.

Continuing a bit from this

Because that was a fluke, right?

Steve Harrington sat at their lunch table, asked a bunch of questions, and took notes as some sort of prank, right? It’s never going to happen again. Right?

But he’s there again today (“Fucking hell”) sitting at their table, waving them over when he spots them like, “I was thinking about that depression filter you told me about. Makes no sense.”

“It’s, uh…” Jeff tries, accepting Steve’s offered applesauce. “It’s a perception filter.”

“Ohhh, that makes more sense.”

Steve opens his notebook, marks something out, and writes over it. He looks up like, “About this guy Griffon.”

And that’s how it goes. Steve asks questions. They provide answers. They realize that Steve must have some hearing loss in his left ear and adjust to that. Steve cracks a joke they don’t understand and adjusts to them, and it’s…fun.

Gareth accidentally elbows Steve in the ribs and Steve winces hard because his ribs are still fucked up from the fight. They all think this is over now and things will go back to normal but Steve…apologizes?? For being weird??? To weirdos?

“Oh, god,” Jeff says after lunch, watching Steve and Grant walk off in the same direction. “We have to keep him.”

Gareth sighs, “Eddie is going to hate this.”

#Eddie did - in fact - hate this #He tries really hard to continue to hate this but then he mentions the Mind Flayer #and Steve is like: Oh yeah. I know that guy. He’s German.#And Eddie doesn’t know what the fuck that means but he’s in love #BTW Jeff folds the quickest. #i feel like too many people reduce this interaction to jason being like ‘lol same’#but idk :/#this chapter is from jason’s pov #and leading up to it he’s like ‘people keep walking on eggshells around me bc of the the michael varus stab wound’#and he hates it so when he goes on deck to help out with the storm #everyone’s like wtf except for percy #and jason states how much he appreciated percy not treating him like a sick kid #and i feel like it’s echoed in this sentiment where jason could say so many things like #‘you should never feel that way’ ‘im here if you need anything’#but he doesn’t make percy feel alone in his desire to just…. end it all #which ik for some people that doesn’t work but you’re not a character in hoo and percy is dealing with so much guilt #and he can’t tell annabeth bc she’s a main aspect of that guilt #and he doesn’t wanna guilt her more and he feels ashamed and when he describes this he feels weird for feeling it #so having jason this tough guy be like ‘yo i understand it bc i felt the same way #that’s gotta mean a lot to percy #also insane how jason who also struggles to display vulnerability #allows it in one of few times in this moment just so percy this guy he’s supposed to be jealous about #feels comforted and not alone in his guilt and shame #and also it’s just insane how jason’s wanting to kay em ess does not get talked about AT ALL #and just seeing his mom and the pressure of new rome getting to him #like this scene is insane and i’ll never shut up about it #also ignore me i’m just finishing my reread of hoo that took all summer #jason grace #percy jackson #pjo #ashla.txt
