there are a lot of things regarding dandadan i could heavily criticize, primarily all the conspiracy shit throughout the series (ex. pyramids created by aliens) and how attempted sexual assault is handled throughout, but i do really really like how characters are written and how they are shown to interact with each other

i really hate the argument that something, be it a movie or a game, can be as shitty as it wants when its primarily aimed at kids (or people THINK it is aimed mostly at kids) bc its 'just for kids'

like children are lesser an stupid? like they arent incredibly impressionable and deserve good movies? im not saying they should only watch critical acclaimed drama movies, but you can make a movie 'for kids' AND make it good, its been done before, sure there will always be shit movies, and thats fine, but dismissing any kind of criticism towards them bc "its just for kids" feels so unecessarily mean spirited towards children, like they are little people in wildly different stages of development!! they can think too!!

'kids' itself is such a wide range that i feel its not very useful as a category anyway, a 5 year old isnt the same as an 11 year old, both of them should get good things, and both can watch or play things they may not completely understand yet! i grew up with shrek, and while a big parody and haha fart humor movie, they (1+2) have an incredibly strong core, i didnt udnerstand them fully when i was little, so what? i still enjoyed them, i felt more connected to them than any disney movie (bc hey .. the monster is the main guy and no they dont all turn into conventionally pretty humans as the ultimate reward- i felt othered throughout my life too) and i still do, theres jokes and themes and meaning i understood fully only when i was rewatching them as an adult, i still enjoy them even at 27

and like, shouldnt it ESPECIALLY matter what children watch? (not in the puritan brain worm way) bc they are ... people in development?? do you think if they just sit down and watch shitty movies and play games that dont challenge them at all, be it thinking critically or emotionally, all day it wont have an affect on them??

Dude, you're perfectly fine. I'm gonna keep it to like five points bc some things that I have problems with are mainly nitpicks. None of this, imo, is a dealbreaker for me. However, if it is for you, fair.

This is one that everyone has talked about and I fully agree with. The pacing is whiplash-inducing. I still do believe it's better than HB S1, but there is just so much information being thrown around that it's mind-boggling. The songs definitely help to slow things down a bit and introduce more info in an engaging, catchy way. However, I feel like there were some eps that either needed to come sooner or later in the series. I get they were fighting the clock, but still.

Lucifer and Charlie's relationship needed better explaining. Without going into spoilers, from what it felt like in the Pilot, it seemed like they were building up to something a bit more confrontational. I always figured Charlie possibly embellished Lucifer's words, but now it makes it feel like Charlie was talking to a completely different man. Someone that isn't even her father. Lu acts so much like Charlie, or vice versa, that it seems almost impossible to misinterpret his words.

NO FILLERS! The closest episode to a filler is the 3 ep, but even that brings up information and moves the plot along with key points. Now, that's not a bad thing entirely. It keeps you engaged. But this show very much lacks any breathing room. There's so much being thrown your way. Either things get overly talked about or not talked about enough. Which brings me to my next point-

The world-building is both fulfilling and empty. You do get a good sense of Heaven and Hell in this universe, especially Hell. You get an idea of the hierarchy and even some hypocrisy. However, we also don't really know how Heaven nor Hell operates. Like Lucifer appeared to be a shut-in. Yes, Lilith was the one inspiring demonkind, but what about when she disappeared? Is that why everything is garbage now? How much does Lucifer influence Hell? Where are the archangels? Was this conflict not important? Is there a "God" even in this show? What is Heaven's hierarchal system? There's so much being said, while also nothing being explained.

This one is the lowest for me bc I'm a bit torn on it. I've seen a few people complain about how the main characters are introduced as if you're supposed to know them. I didn't get this feeling, but I'm also a fan of Hazbin. I try to go in with a fairly "empty mind" so that I can view the material without rose-tinted glasses. However, it felt like some of the characters were given decent introductions at times. Idk. I'd like to know other's opinions on that.

Another one that I want to add is probably more diversity in the body sizes in the show. I'm not too worried about it bc Helluva Boss does a great job with body diversity, but Hazbin seems to be fairly stick and slender. But, again, I'm not too worried about it.

All in all, those are my biggest issues with the show. Like I said, none of these are dealbreakers, especially since we'll be getting a S2. Vivzie seems to listen to criticism, judging by the differences with HB S1 vs S2. So, I'm really hoping that we finally get to relax and actually get to know the characters more. Like, Adam shows the 7 Deadly Sins, while Charlie shows the 7 Virtues. I hope Adam isn't permanently dead bc I feel like this would be a good wake-up for him. He'll become the being that they were exterminating. But only time will tell.

Majority of this can be blamed on Prime and A24 for only giving them 8 episodes. I feel like either a longer run-time or more eps would've helped the show. Hopefully, they'll have learned from their mistakes in the next season.

Yes his role throughout the series lessened but it stayed consistent. After the stain arc we always see him helping his classmates . We don't see that with ochako tho. It doesn't feel like apart of her character but apart of her relationship with deku. I mean in the rooftop scene shoto was standing outside of ua and couldn't enter she didn't say anything then. She didn't say anything later when he said his presence would've caused problems, she didn't say anything abut ayoma she didn't even think about any of the heroes that got severely injured or died. She's never even had a thought about allmight (isn't it weird how little 1a interacted with AM) Nothing

Well, honestly Uraraka works in this "saving heroes" thing because it more or less coincides with the core of her character which is essentially to make those around her happy, but that doesn't mean that yes, you're right and that Iida could have been part of that plot with Uraraka and Midoriya

Iida is the first Legacy Kid that is presented to us and he already has the concepts of heroism deeply rooted in his education, the main problem is that those concepts are completely aligned with the limits of the rules, that is, for a good part of the manga he is regal and incorruptible before the typical ideals of a hero in society, and on two occasions he deviates from this

-Selfishly: wanting to kill (not imprison or detain) Stain

-In a supportive way: Accompanying his classmates to save Bakugo.

After that Horikoshi could continue evolving Iida, but he doesn't, and we see him in action again in the Vigilant Deku arc and in the final war, where his job is to reach Midoriya, and then help Shoto reach his family.

I could start a rant here about how Horikoshi threw away the development of several characters just to give Gary Stu (Bakugo) of this manga his thousandth moment to shine.

But I can criticize him for other inconsistencies that you have pointed out:

-Shoto was able to enter the UA before and after the speech, people's biggest fear was that Midoriya would enter the academy

-Aoyama's scene and overall plot have no impact because we didn't have any focus prior to it (aside from the arc before the provisional exams). There's only an glimpse of an impact because it's revealed that he was quirkless, and we don't get a focus on class A in those types of plots and class A barely has any evolution outside of comic gags.

-Something to note on the subject of injured or dead heroes, is that the only considerable reaction we get from the class to this, is when Midnight dies, and a couple of chapters later they're in uniforms again, it feels like I missed out on about 90 therapy sessions here, but there's no acknowledgement of the deaths surrounding them or adverse consequences like heroes or students quitting.

-Uraraka and All Might... I seem to remember that there was an interaction between her, Iida, Tsuyu and Mineta between the rounds of the sports festival tournament, but I don't know if it is added to the anime only or also in the manga. There is a huge problem with this and that is that All Might was in skeletal form, the same form with which he begins to teach after his fight against AFO, could a plot arise here of how Uraraka or Iida discover the OFA on their own? If so, Hori did not do it because, surprise! Bakugo.

And as for the ships, I have to say, I much prefer Izuocha even though I'm more of a rarepairs fan.

I could make a post later about both ships, but responding to what you said, Horikoshi moves according to who is at the top of popularity, and this doesn't happen in stories with a gram of narrative stability (for example, One Piece).

Although the lack of confirmation doesn't mean that it hasn't happened, Uraraka wearing the Deku mask and focusing on Midoriya's hands (except the ring finger of his left hand) already gives enough of a clue, although I think Hori will leave those important details for the sequel or when volume 42 comes out in December.

Ough I think I have. Similar feelings on wl. My friend has expressed to me that this is their favorite season because they have autism and adhd and like. Ok fair. I have Feelings about that but a good chunk of it is because I know my friend and you don't so thats irrelevant to you. I would like to see them actually get to Do Things. it felt a little bit like the April fools snapshot video Grian/Lizzie/Joel/Jimmy/gem/imp/Skizz did. I'm a Grian main so my reference points are gonna be mostly that but like. The finale. It couldve been Way more impactful if Grian and Joel had a chance to actually Ally instead of Grian kind of... floating aimlessly after the spanners died. The point of the gimmicks being intrusive I think said it best, they were so immediately present that it was like. Monster of the week to me. And that's not really why I watch the life series, and I genuinely wonder how many people DO watch it for that. Are we the outliers or what.

god this literally. i was talking about this to my friends just today too. so the thing about the gimmicks that (many people don't understand from my original post lol) i still like them. like its very important to know that the gimmicks are fun. i thought shrinking was fun, i thought superpowers were super fun. but the point of the gimmicks is to be in the background— to create a backdrop for the players to develop the series in the direction they want it to go.

people have argued for the existence of predominant gimmicks, saying that the series needs something new, that gimmicks are like jingling keys to the viewers, but i would argue specifically against this fact by looking at what made the series skyrocket to popularity in the first place, and that were fanartists and fanfiction writers who were insane about the players. desert duo, renwoods, crastle team, flower husbands; scottage, team best, magic mountain, southlanders. Those were the things we were obsessed with. those were the things that kept us coming back and back again, not the fact that There Was A Trivia Bot. I dont care if theres a trivia bot. i care if the players know or dont know the answers, i care how the players barter for the answers If they dont know it, i care how some players are willing to help eachother out with the answers.

This is also why, even though i have my criticisms towards secret life, i thought the finale was handled pretty well all things considered, because the secret tasks were turned off for the entirety of it, letting the players naturally conclude the series in the way they wanted to do it. This is why wild life finale failed so spectacularly to me— the last 15 minutes being the only time the players got to breathe, and then it was over. The gimmicks dominated the entire series from start to finish and there was very little player input that kept every single other season afloat. Its disappointing. Its frustrating.

I think its also important to note that no matter what the fandom tells you rn, youre allowed to feel this way and have these criticisms and be frustrated with the way the series has evolved. we are the audience and we pay the content creators through ad revenue and continued support. youre allowed to not like the content, no matter if we are the minority in this opinion or not. and both the content creators and the fandom need to accept the criticism towards the series because nothing exists in a vacuum 🤷!

I will say, however, that it's incredibly important to familiarize yourself with the media and to even draw citations when possible directly from the source. Not only will this help deepen your understanding, but allow for your conclusions to be far stronger and allow for us, your audience, to understand your line of thought! That way, if you do disagree with a take, or if you do draw a very strong conclusion, you have the explanation to accompany it! And i think this is especially crucial when dealing with a media like Twisted Wonderland, where it is drawing upon multiple sources in order to create its story. And with that in mind, I DO genuinely hope that you'll continue to engage with the discussion, adjust your argument as new information is presented to you, and that you continue to evolve your thinking. Because honestly, thats where most of the fun comes from, and its so important to continue to learn and practice problem-solving in that way.

That said, I would like to offer you a potential adjustment to your framework and see if it helps you sort out your confusion regarding the Light Trio. This of course comes with the caveat that 1) this is merely a suggestion and you dont have to take it - in fact if you do disagree with it and you have in-game cited reasons for it? Thats awesome!! I'd love to hear it!! I love to see how people interpret things different based on evidence in the media!!! And 2) I encourage you to take this suggestion and research the source materials on your own, while drawing your own conclusions. Maybe you'll find my framework doesn't work, and that in it of itself is a wonderful exercise in critical thinking.

For the sake of time and space, I'm going to drop my suggestion under the cut.

I would like to suggest to you that the characters with Light Magic arent strictly defined by Hero or Villian, but rather Protagonistic or Antagonistic force.

If we take Kalim for example, he is speculated to be twisted from the Sultan- a character who is often manipulated and forced to do things against his will in order to assist the Villain- Jafar. By your framework, we might argue that the Sultan is a villain. But if we actually examine the story as presented in the Disney film? That doesn't quite feel right, does it? And that's because the Sultan actually wants to HELP Jasmine and Aladdin. He strives on his own to help our protagonists. By this logic, he may not be a hero- as he doesn't save the day, but he's not a villain either. He is merely a protagonistic force- a character who benefits the main characters. (We could go on a whole essay about this and diving deeper, but to respect your time and encourage you to do some digging on your own, I will summarize there.)

When we compare the Sultan to Kalim, and how Kalim acts in Book 4, we see an incredibly distinctive similarity in how Kalim acts and is treated. He on his own is certainly not the Villain without the influence of Jamil, but he doesnt exactly save the day either. He wants to help Yuu in every way he can. But he simply... can't. He's no hero either. Instead, we can view Kalim as a protagonistic force, one who wants to see the best outcome for everyone. He is, after all, Light.

We can also examine Silver by this same framework. We don't actually know of he is twisted from solely Aurora, solely Phillip, or a mix both, but let's use the framework to talk about Aurora- because we have strong evidence to support that Aurora is one of his inspirations. Aurora, by our understanding of a "Hero", isn't a hero either. She barely has any screen time in Sleeping Beauty, and she spends most of that time asleep. But we know that she's the princess. She can't possibly be a villain- that's Maleficient's job, right? But if we work from the perspective of antagonist vs protagonist, we fit snuggly into place. She is arguably THE protagonist of Sleeping Beauty.

Silver is a bit complicated, and I won't go into detail about the plot of Book 7 as it still unfolds, but we can largely deduce that he is one of the main protagonistic forces in the entire book.

And last, but certainly not least, we have Rook. Rook who largely as you said cannot really fall into place as a Hero. But he's not really a villain either- and the same is said of the Huntsman. What we can see from Rook though is his attempts to help the protagonists by stopping the murder attempt on Niege's life. By nature of his behavior in Book 5, Book 6, and Book 7, we see him continuously being a protagonistic force.

"But Seris," I hear you say - rhetorically of course - "this is a villain school. RSA is the hero school! By that logic, shouldn't the hero/villain dichotomy suffice????"

And to that I present to you my supporting counter-point. Che'Nya from RSA. We understand by the logic of Hero vs Villain that Che'Nya, despite going to the Hero School, doesn't fit into either category either. And furthermore, what evidence we do have of his magical capabilities does NOT support the idea that he can use Light Magic despite going to RSA. And my argument to that point is this: He's an antagonistic force. We see Che'Nya in book one REPEATEDLY picking on Riddle, and influencing him to go against his mother's demands. He influences Riddle to break the rules. Because of the values on display and the interactions we see with Ace, Deuce, Riddle, and Trey, we can deduce that Che'nya is an antogonist, even though he's not a villain.

Perhaps you find this helpful. Perhaps you find it contradictory. Regardless, I hope it gets you thinking on a path that helps you make more sense of the story and the mechanics of the game.

Also this is very unorganized bc I dont really remember how it exactly played out and I could go back and watch the VOD but ion wanna hear wilburs voice so im using the wiki for this therefore I wont have intricate details

One thing I really like is the flashback at the beginning. Especially the fade from L'manburg to the destroyed L'manburg I love it sm it reminds me of Analog horror series

Okay now im going to lay out my main criticisms I have with the finale and why I think it was somewhat unsatisfying and we c!wilbur fans were kinda fucked over in the end

I understand c!wilbur was afraid of losing him or whatever but it would've shown SO MUCH GROWTH FROM HIM IF HE OUTLOUD SAID "Im sorry" TO THE PERSON HE HURT MOST. Im pissed that presumably cc!wilbur decided not to have that happen. Even if it was bad JUST DO IT. c!wilbur was going to leave anyways so him being scared of losing c!tommy if he apologized wouldn't matter!

My next point is that c!wilbur leaving wasn't thought out enough I think. I do personally think c!wilbur should've left the place that ruined him to heal. That's step one of learning to heal but with the apology tour being a flop and him never verbally apologizing to c!tommy it felt unsatisfying and almost underserved and I see why so many people afterward were like "he doesn't just get to leave". What would've helped I think would've been more streams or longer streams if possible. There was so much shit that needed to be retconned but it wasn't given enough time I feel and thats why to so many ppl they were unsatifyed/upset

Going more into the utah shit. I hate it. I hate the "Plot twist" of him being secretly american and from utah. Not even getting into how the real world is now apparently canon to the dsmp in one of the last few dsmp lore streams. I honestly would've liked it more if it wasn't specifically named what the place was instead it was just home. I also had this idea of instead of him disappearing in the middle of the ocean I think it would've been cooler if c!wilbur took a train somewhere almost like a callback to limbo.

I don't like how its somewhat implied c!wilbur killed himself again. It feels cheap to kill of a already heavily suicidal character AGAIN when instead it genuinely could've been a story about how you can learn to heal and forgive yourself even if you did bad things. Maybe this is just me not wanting my favorite character to die but I don't like it at all

Ghostbur was also handled terribly. I understand why alivebur hated him but I also think it would've shown growth if he learned to accept ghostbur in the end. Even if it wasn't fully

Also why the fuck did we never get the contents of the book c!wilbur gave c!tommy?? You throw that shit in just to never tell us what's in it almost 2 years later??

Final thoughts

I might go back and edit this later with more things but for my final thoughts I think c!wilburs finale +the apology tour was a big unsatisfying flop and I belive c!wilbur fans were unfairly fucked over in the end.

Not to sing brighton biter praise, but I do believe he was a good writer and the fact that the last few streams were this unsatisfying is disappointing coming from him. I mean im sure he just wanted to get c!wilburs finale out so he could be done with it but that's not an excuse for fucking your fans over. There was also probably issues with other ccs and characters since (Imo) a lot of the characters he interacted with in the end don't have the best writing (not meant to insult the ccs btw, just saying)

But personally, I somewhat accept it simply bc this is the best we got and I personally don't like alot of other fan re writes on his ending and I also don't like his ending just being "lol he killed himself again"

how does mabel’s muse au go abt her relationships?? the angst potential…..with bill enabling her selfishness and chaotic tendencies, i imagine dipper getting more and more aggravated w her as time goes on……which leads to him mentioning mabel as a reason why he wants to be ford’s apprentice and agreeing that, lately, bc yeah she’s been a bit much this summer and he thinks some time part would be good for them. having mabel overhear her twin saying those things + ford saying what he said in ur art ,,, it just pushes her further into the trenches of bill’s manipulation. since u said she met bill early like after the pilot, i think stan would be used to mabel acting the way she does w bill and all, even if there are the occasional red flags. but dipper, having known her since birth, ik u said he thinks bill isn’t real but he has the journal full of warnings of bill and i think he’d be rightfully suspicious of mabel’s supposed muse…..idk i think he’s a curious smart lil guy who would have a gut feeling abt what’s going on w mabel and her muse. i do like the idea of him thinking bill’s just an imaginary friend tho!!! just him thinking it’s another mabel quirk or something is plausible :O! how often does bill possess her body? he doesn’t hurt her like he did w ford, right? since he needs her to trust him and all….. :3

dipper ABSOLUTELY gets irritated with mabel as the series progresses. especially since, at the beginning, he doesnt believe in bill, so the fact that mabel is blaming a lot of her childish actions on something as silly as an imaginary friend bothers him A LOT. he wishes shed just take accountability (which later leads to him trying to take accountability HIMSELF, which backfires, bc he just ends up way too critical and self-loathing. at the end they find a healthy middle of taking accountability and also not beating yourself up). i honestly didnt even think about ford still offering the apprenticeship but in hindsight i can SO see ford using that to try and convince him to come aboard!!

in this au, bill isnt depicted in the journal. ford never mentions him by name/draws him out, other than little hints (dipper does raise an eyebrow at the author also calling a being 'my muse', and starts to theorize, but never gets to come to a concrete conclusion before the truth comes out anyway). i think over the course of the story he DOES come up with a bunch of theories on what the 'imaginary friend' could be, really, but they all fall flat. itd be a fun little b plot to the main story if he were trying to investigate various creatures to see if any could fit only to never be able to figure it out

bill doesnt possess her body very much (if at all) and definitely doesnt hurt her when/if he does!! he really just doesnt NEED to possess her. on the rare occasion that he does, its not as self-serving as it is with ford or dipper in canon. like i can see her letting him use his body so she can stay up later making her sock puppets or stock piling mabel juice or something jhksfhjksdf. since he doesnt have any real reason to want to destroy the journals, he wouldnt have to take over anyones body in sock opera but he might just for funsies.

OKAY FIRST OF, DONT SHOOT ME- I DO NOT SUPPORT THE CREATOR- I just saw the tweet of the person that came out with his story with the creator.

I don't like bullying and especially towards younger people so yeah! This opinion is about just the game! 😭😭😭 (Even tho the creator has done all the bad stuff long ago he might still be doing this in the present? I have no idea but hey, I will not risk it until I see evidence or whatever the fuck. 😃)

I think people are shocked that having a protagonist that isn't a sociopath makes the game less funny. (Because of Jecka's emotional and normal reactions.)

I get it, you wanted comedy, you wanted to laugh but you got something else, cope! I think it's good to see a real side of this universe.

Not only we see how bad Nicole can be, to even Jecka (nuance is important) but we also see the aftermath of Nicole's hostage friendship route!

Let me break it to you, it is supposed to not be funny, it is supposed to be heartbreaking.

Jecka's dad situation has funny moments but ultimately is it really funny at the end of the day?

Also for the people that say "there is too much feet shit," the game has 5 main routes, only 2 of its routes have that as their "main thing" like in the Re-up, with the homeless route.

You can obviously criticize this game obvi, but some people seem to miss the point about multiple aspects about it.

Like- it still has the same ingredients from the past games- what, you just dont like it because Nicole is being Nicole??? Or think that the abuse "feels too real"?

Maybe I am being biased and just like the series so much that I refuse to perceive this third game as a bad one, sure maybe.

But maybe a lot of people are projecting waaay too much onto this game. Like maybe expecting fan service is bad?? And some things are obviously meant for fanfics? (I am talking about people being shocked for not having more "ship moments," like come on that's not realistic.)

Also, the thing of "this is clearly fetishistic bait for the creator" I cannot see it. (I again might be wrong.)

No feet were shown (so the focus was clearly not in the sexual aspect of it.) Jecka and Nicole were clearly uncomfortable the entire time and the boys were mocked by the characters and narrative! Basically like all the pedo jokes in literally the entire saga! But this is better because they at least killed Jeffrey???

And now the pain fetish thing, that I see it even less, again we are playing as Jecka, the non sociopath, she has an abusive father and it will suck! And the game treats it as it should be! It is scary and it is not fun, and still it cracks pretty good jokes from time to time about it.

I'm gonna say what everyone wants to say, this game is uncomfortable and its a different experience than the other two!

But I dont think the execution and the game itself is bad *because* of that. Things can be good and make you feel those things and thats completely valid!

If you want some saphic content from this franchise do not worry there are so many amazing writers and artists here that you will be fine no matter what!

What are your thoughts on Re:63 fic by Spriteanon?

(okay also gonna leave a link to spriteanon’s rezero fics here and the re:63 series here if anyone is interested!!! and please feel free to leave some nice comments if you enjoy <3)

hi anon!! :o okay quick disclaimer that i havent touched spriteanons re:63 fic in a Very Long Time but i read a few of their If route/spinoff fics and got to around somewhere in arc 3 of the main re:63 fic yes :o!! (i only havent touched it since because Time and my Uncontrollable Attention Span. i dont tend to read super long fics either—no hard feelings or anything i am just a student with adhd hah.)

also quick explanation for anyone else stumbling across this—re:63 is a long plotty multichapter fic series where subaru and a few other surprise characters are genderbent (i use “genderbend” here in the sense of. biological sex and gender were bent yes). the fic starts from arc 1 and then comes with Major Divergences throughout the entire story. its a very solid read!!

but yeah so from what i do remember, i really enjoyed the fic, yeah. if i did read it again recently + caught up all the way to the current arc of the story (arc 4 i believe) i might have minor criticisms here and there, but again theyd be minor, and big emphasis on might because i do think re:63 is incredible (also i 1. try to adhere to fanfic courtesy of not giving unsolicited criticism directly to the author anyway wkfn and 2. im very light on most fic because. well we are All writing for free). and spriteanon has wrote more than a million words for this, all of which are Very polished with a solid plan for each arc. the fic’s such a labor of love its absolutely one of the best long form multichapter fics in this fandom, in my opinion. the writing style is very precise, i think, while still hitting Hard for every emotional beat and i think they generally get characters right. it’s a perfect balance.

i think what i most enjoyed about spriteanon’s fic though was its take on fem subaru.

the thing with fembaru takes in this fandom (though i see this also happen with fem reinhard takes as well)—im speaking for the english side of the fandom here by the way hah—is that sometimes writers tend to fall into this like. pitfall of being way too different with said now-female-character.

making a genderbend au does kind of show how you think of gender roles and gender and biological sex and all that, you know? not that thats a bad thing thats just an Inevitable fact given how intertwined these things can be irl and how a genderbend au will focus on these things in some way.

but like. genderswapping a character Is gonna change some things but its not usually gonna change Every Single Recognizable Trait in existence. sometimes people fall into pitfall of “this character is girl now” and forget to write her as a Person. they dont let her be as humanly “ugly” as how the character is in canon as a guy. and too many times i look at rezero genderbend fics or requests for genderbend fics in the rezero reddit fanfic ideas thread and fem subaru and reinhard are often genderswapped just to ship them with men (such as fembaru with regular reinhard or vice versa)—it does make me a little uncomfortable sometimes because 1. shipping the now fem character with another character of the same sex (such as fembaru x rem) doesnt really. Happen as much. it doesnt seem to be treated as a possibility that much?? or at least i havent seen it in fic. even though it Could Be, it’d just be less likely for Multiple Reasons (though of course correct me if im wrong if this ever happens in spriteanons fic akdndn) and 2. it feels like making a gay ship (like reinsuba) straight (ie reinsuba but one of them is the opposite sex now). which i have personal feelings on but i wont go too much into that hah.

BUT OKAY i digress i dont mean At All to go after authors who do any of this akndnd and spriteanon does have a few spinoff fics with fembaru x reinhard—all of which i ENJOYED, because 1. what i just said is a Personal Preference and 2. i dont mind it at all if its Well Written regardless (i have enjoyed a few other fembaru x reinhard fics too just bc they were well written yes!!). and spriteanons writing and handling of reinsubas dynamic is very very well written imo and i really liked reading through it. theyve written both fembaru and reinhard + subaru and fem reinhard together with a nuanced understanding of both characters, i think, and it absolutely still feels like Them. if that makes sense hah. like im not thinking “this feels like whole other people”, im thinking “this IS reinhard and subaru” regardless of gender. which is good because the former might take me out of the story a little bit T^T

and also i understand people are gonna have different takes on how genderbend aus would go, and i DO enjoy seeing variety in this yes!! :o (i cant really judge either because my old genderbend au fic is very. its different, lets just say hah.)

also spriteanon is Very good at showcasing subarus positive and negative qualities, i think. and spriteanon doesnt forget to show subarus npc/game/genre awareness-related mentality (in another way this time, given the slight differences in female lead isekai stories) either!! it was very interesting to read for Sure, and i appreciated how well they showed the trauma and horror in the story and showed how subaru understandably responds to it. fembaru feels Human here and like this is still subaru, which i think should be the goal yes. character is Very Important. and subaru can be very hard to get even close to right in fics so i gotta commend spriteanon in general for all the hard work on this fic hah.

and also i enjoyed the exploration of another subaru hobby (music!!) (which iirc is probably also a canon detail anyway?? but its expanded on in re:63??) very interesting. not much to say on that bc i dont Entirely remember every detail of this i just thought it was a fun take yes.

also i did love seeing the other characters that were genderbent. that was very fun. i kinda wish there were More just because i enjoyed it a lot. i liked seeing what changed and what didnt. though iirc spriteanon has some sort of interactive quality with some parts of the fic where they put up polls to vote on some aspects of the story?? so maybe some reoccurring readers voted on some of who gets to be genderbent and who doesnt hah.

and also the canon divergences in the story are Interesting. i was really kept on my toes a bit fr. i think out of what i read arc 2 was ABSOLUTELY my favorite for sure. it was such an amazing read and in a few aspects i enjoyed it More than canon arc 2!! not that canon arc 2 is bad (i enjoyed canon arc 2 A Lot) but re:63’s arc 2 has such Fascinating things in it…. hah i wont go into too much detail though its Spoilery.

but either way. re:63 is a very strong and solid fic imo. i really enjoyed it overall!! i might return to the fic someday to read through it from start to finish—not sure if i ever will but id have a fun time i think hah. its an absolute gem and you can see all the work spriteanon puts into it!!

Rwby has consistency? Yeah its consistently disappointing and dogshit. Trust me I know all about DC's retcons, bad stories, nonsensical decisions that the writers make that make the characters worse. Wanna know the difference between RWBY and DC? Rwby has had only a few interpretations, the main canon, the crossover, ice queendom, the books, the antholgy manga, a few comics (some being dc crossovers again), and rwby chibi. And half of those can even be considered pseudo canon. With DC? They have had DECADES of comics, movies, cartoons, TV shows, and all sorts of different adoptions. Because DC is bigger they can have alot of bad, but SOOOO MUCH more good.

Next up, dont bring Monty into this. I wont discredit his work and im not gonna say "this wasnt how he wanted rwby" or anything like this. Let the guy be. This is specifically going towards Miles and Kerry, I wanna have faith they're good people, twitter says otherwise for Miles. I know they can make some decent writing, early rwby, camp camp, they even wrote some of RVB. They haven't made anything good nowadays which is why im mad, I know they can write but keep fucking up!

I'd like to participate in your 1.2k celebration! I'd like to go with the Harry Potter fandom (marauders era) and would be preferred to be romantically matched up with a guy.

I'm a quiet girl who's been working a lot on confidence and finding myself. And it's been working, I'm going to the gym because it's fun and not because of unhealthy reasons, I'm taking my time thinking and observing life instead of being too busy to enjoy life, I'm communicating well with family and friends. I truly see the world in a positive manner, and I always want to spread kindness! But I also have a darkish humor, I love joking around saying 'thats what she said jokes' and teasing and just overall being rough and fun!

I always have off days though that get me sad and moody and bitchy. Which is why my main love language to calm me down would be physical touch. I love the way arms wrap around me and kisses i can give and nuzzles. It makes me feel so loved, especially when I'm extremely critical about myself. I'm a perfectionists and it really affects me when something doesn't really meet my standards. But I'm getting better at accepting that nothing is perfect and that I just gotta roll with it. Lots of kind self talk and yoga keep me grounded.

Music is a big part of my life, I love listening to it and playing it with my violin! Currently my favorite songs are Locked and Loaded by LAEL, Toki Doki by Takenobu, Oblivion by Halfy and Winks, Remembrance by Balmorhea and Bloom by Throttle (I would love you to death if you listened to them! Hehe)

I love to read but have a hard time prioritizing time to sit down and actually read. I'm currently reading the Throne of Glass series and it's so good!

I also loove food, I try new dishes and gobble anything down when I'm hungry. And I get them gains going to the gym, playing sports and running.

i don’t think james would have a problem with you being quieter. he’s a generally loud person, he can make up for anything you don’t put out. i think he’s a very intuitive person. he’d be able to tell when you were uncomfortable, and he could tell when you were beginning to settle in. he’d see all the work you’re putting in to trying to better yourself and gain confidence, and he’d be so proud of you. he’d try his best to help, working you into any social situations he’s in so you know he’s there with you. hed definitely be a good gym boyfriend to have. he’d make sure you were doing all that you could to stay healthy and not strain yourself, and he’d be such a hype man to give you motivation. he’s such a positive person, it would kinda bleed into you.

i do think there’s a darker side to him, not that that’s a bad thing. he’d find your sense of humor intriguing. he would love playful banter with you, you’d challenge him to keep up with you and always be on his toes. although he’s a positive person, i think he has days where he finds it really hard to be positive. he’s always such a light for everyone else, and so people forget that they need to check on him too. but you wouldn’t forget, and you’d always make sure he was feeling alright. and when you started growing into yourself and becoming more positive, it would start to effect him. he’s such a perfectionist. i know he doesn’t seem like one, since things look like they come so easily to him. but he constantly feels pressure on his shoulders, the weight of so much that he gets overwhelmed and doesn’t know how to manage it all. he could be having such a bad day, but seeing you and seeing how much progress you’ve made would just make his day so much better. i think he’s a very touchy person, ids definitely one of his main love languages, and he’d be a firm believer that there’s nothing a really good huh can’t fix.

james is definitely a foodie. he’s always so active, he gets hungry quite easily. i think good food would remind him of his moms cooking, and he’d always be down to go somewhere and eat. quality time is another one of his love languages, and any excuse to hang out with you is fine by him. expect many trips to hogsmeade to eat and get some sweets while you shop.

i don’t think james is a big reader. he’s always so busy, he’s got other ways to fill his time. but he’d definitely understand wanting to do something and not knowing how to properly manage his time. i think he’s got some undiagnosed adhd going on, and he’s just a little forgetful. but he’d know you’ve been meaning to get around to reading your book, and so he’d decide that spending quality time with you was just an opportunity to basically force you to read.

he’d be very content to lay down with you while you made, and maybe even ask you to read out loud to him so he could listen. i can see him getting really excited about a plot, especially if it’s fantasy.

“why didn’t you tell me this book had dragons in it? that’s so cool!”

you’d laugh, slipping a bookmark into the page. “if i had known all i had to do to get you to pick up a book for once was tell you there was dragons in it, i would have done it a lot sooner.”

“hey!” he’d scold, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and pulling you down next to him. “be nice to me! when do i ever tease you?”

“just about every day,” you’d muse, raising a brow.

he’d grin, wrapping his other arm around you as he pulled you closer. “maybe…but it’s funny when i do it. you’re just mean.”

“i think you can take it, love,” you’d chuckle, but you’d wrap your arms around him and cuddle close to him. “i’m kidding, if that wasn’t obvious. you know that right?”

you may tease each other all the time, but you’d never want him to feel like you actually meant anything you were saying. he’d laugh it off, and try his best to make sure you didn’t see that it hurt him, like he does with other people.

but he’d know you were kidding this time. he’d smile down at you, feeling his heart warm at you checking in on him like that.

“i know, darling,” he’d say, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “now keep reading. you’ve got me hooked.”

Hey, love your FT redesigns they're very cool and creative, and I also love swing people's criticism of the series 👀, so which female character (that isn't juvia cause that's too easy) would you say is portrayed in the worst way?

like i dont think shes the WORST, the female zodiac spirits but idk

and ok stay with me cuz i promise I don't say this cuz shes "useless" or emotional or whatever goku stans say idk

lucy is potrayed the worst bc dispite the seirse, kinda revolving around her journey, the series never really gives her moments to grow in the traditional action shonen sense?

like ok ok first, shes a novice wizard at the start of the show with like, 3 or 4 zodiac keys,, now if I lived in a world where there were 12 zodiac keys TOTAL and some blonde rich girl inherited 4 of them??? id??? aks questions???? or would at least assume shes much more powerful and important, and that could have been a fun plot thing considering she has her moments of arrogance that show her inexperience,,, bUT these moments just,,, KEEP HAPPENING like??? even after lucy gets her star dresses we r suppose to laugh like haha lucy really thought she could help like??????? what???? so natsu can solo like,,, all the villains but lucy cant like,, win a fight on her own without being the but of the joke??? i think she does do stuff later but it bothers me?? that shes arguably the female lead and her arc and emotional journey revolves around natsu specifically?? like yea she grows with fairy tail and stuff but it feels like the narrative is constantly punishing lucy for even TRYING to do cool shit???

idk give me lucy with deep rooted imposter syndrome bc she doesn't think shes worthy of following in her mothers footsteps bc she doesn't think shes strong enough so she tries to compensate in the rich girl fake it till you make it mentality but when she really starts to care about fairy tail she just sees how unapologetically GENUINE they are like UGH shes been surrounded by people who are fake or r obligated to be around her and these r the first people to like,, WANT to be around her just CUZ
