(Idk if someone asked this already) since we’re on the topic of gender
sci what is gender to you and how do you see it in you and how you express it in your art?? (Just a young queer artist who wants some light shined upon them 🥺)
i 'unno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#gender is soup#sci speaks#i'm so sorry i know you might hope for something profound but... i think when i'm put on the spot like this i can't say anything really#i think whatever i am is definitely pervasive in everything i write#but like.. gender means something different to wade than it does for peter.#just like it'll be different for everybody. we make different associations based on our experiences and our trauma.#like.. wade associates femininity with love. because of his mother. associates masculinity with violence. because of his father.#peter associates masculinity with responsibility. because of uncle ben. associates femininity with confidence. because of aunt may.#i think there's all kinds of reasons why we choose to present the way we do. and what gender means to us.#just like we'll associate a colour with something. or a smell with a memory. it's complicated.#i don't think i'm some kind of expert on gender things but... i just find it interesting to explore. the psychology of it.#i don't think it's supernatural. it doesn't come from nowhere. but it should be a playground.#i don't think anyone in this world should be restricted to a certain role to play. i want to try all the roles and see how it fits.#see how well i can play them.#maybe because i haven't found one that quite fits. so i want the opportunity to try whatever i can. see what feels right.#i think it would be fun to be a wife. i think it would be fun to be a husband. i think it would be fun to be a firefighter. i think it wo#shrugs. different outfits for every day. different roles to play.#today i'd like to try...#i think it's like kids learning how to be adults by playing pretend. by playing roles.#i'm learning more about myself and other people and fitting into the world by trying on different roles.#kids playing house. you be the mom. i'll be the dad. yadda yadda.#i still feel like a bit of a kid who hasn't figured out how to be an adult yet. so i'm still trying out roles to see what fits.

Request 4 you :-D alright I was wondering if you could do a drabble with a reader with a men ability that makes her similar to a banshe pls😣 (chrollo, illumi, kurapikachu, layoreo, and 🌹feitan🌹)
HXH W/ a Banshee!Reader
Tumblr media
Characters: Kurapika Kurta, Leorio Paladaknight, Illumi Zoldyck, Chrollo Lucilfer, Feitan Portor Type: Headcanons, Gn!Reader
alright i did some reading on banshees for this and obviously they have their scream right? but they also have clairaudience, precognition and supernatural detection! p cool if you ask me :D
Warnings: none??
Tumblr media
Kurapika Kurta
every time you predict the death of a phantom troupe member he's like fuck yeah
if you work with him you mostly end up gathering info
like you can literally fly super fast, see vaguely into the future and have super cray hearing
i couldn't think of anything for this guy im so sorry...
Leorio Paladaknight
the first time he saw you hovering about he damn near shit his pants because he thought you were genuinely some type of ghost
knowing its just your nen doesn't make him any less scared since you can sense supernatural and paranormal activity...
sometimes you tell him you feel ghosts and whatnot around to fuck with him
he cries
he can't even rant about you to anyone because you WILL hear it
every time he mentions you he has to look around and make sure you're nowhere near him even if he knows you're cities away
sometimes you use your clairaudience to snitch on him LOLLL
he will mutter something under his breath and you'd be like "Leorio just said ____"
you probably told him Gon would die (he didn't actually but almost did) and he didn't believe you at first
bro was like do NOT joke about that and you're like I'm not joking and he's like FUCK
maybe you should stop playing pranks on him because now he finds everything you say hard to believe...
Illumi Zoldyck
you help him catch runners on missions LMAO
if he happens to keep you around you know all of the Zoldyck estate gossip because your clairaudience lets you hear everything that goes on in the mansion
every time you hear something new you and Illumi whisk away to some corner and chat quietly
no matter what you tell him he's surprisingly interested, he can and will gossip like a teenage girl
sometimes when he feels like a job is too much of a hassle he lets you handle it with your death scream thingy
he's not a lazy person but everyone has their moments
you are his personal little ghostlike assistant
Chrollo Lucilfer
yeah he's making you one of the supportive members of the troupe
he uses you to gather information with your heightened hearing and ability to predict the death of others
probably asks you if you can contact the dead
if you can then awesome, now you can answer a lot of his questions but if not then oh well
since you can fly pretty fast sometimes he has you snatch up people for questioning
he avoids using you for offensive purposes because your screams reach very far and could possibly accidentally kill him or the other troupe members
so when he does you're usually alone
you were able to sense that Uvo was going to die and also the exact moment he did
knowing his friend would die didn't make it any less painful for Chrollo tho :(
Feitan Portor
he thinks you're a valuable asset to the troupe
most of the time when it comes to catching people for torture and interrogation Chrollo sends you two
you guys are the perfect team for the job honestly, you can catch enemies quickly and also attack them from long distances while Feitan handles all the gross torture stuff
he probably carries ear plugs for this so yk..you don't accidentally kill him when you scream at the enemy
when you predicted Uvo would die after the first run in with the shadow beasts Feitan is like no way
then all of that shit happens yada yada yada then he goes to fight Kurapika and he actually dies
and Feitan was like fuck you were right
now he knows not to doubt your morbid intuition..

I feel like Teru is this angry because he made it personal. There are two reasons for this.
The first is as you mentioned Anon: He trusts Akane, we can see him turn his back on him, letting Akane cover him many times, all of which Akane never disappoints.
Tumblr media
I guarantee Teru wouldn't go "This will be the first and last time I'll ally with a supernatural" if Akane wasn't a part of the clockkeeper.
Teru is confident Akane would pick him over the clock keepers, that if the other keepers got aggressive for any reason, Akane would have his back.
Tumblr media
But instead Akane hit him in the back.
This is the second time he assumed he was a loved one's priority, and was proven wrong.
Tumblr media
Akane is not the first blow he got, Kou's opposition, this betrayal to the idea "family will always be on my side" happened recently, so he takes it very personally, he is not acting rationally at all, he doesn't even let Akane explain.
The second reason I believe he is so fucking angry, is cause Akane switched sides so fast. Kou had shown a lot of signs he is overly attached to supernaturals but Akane always, consistently complains about them. It comes out of nowhere for teru, like he switches from "yeah yeah, lets be allies" to "Sorry situation changed" in a span of a few pages (so a few minutes? at most)
Tumblr media
Being literally hit in the back doesn't help either. Teru is a fighter, I am sure that survival instincts activate when someone hit you in the back without you noticing. Which is not a good instinct to act on when you're feeling betrayed.
As for Teru holding this against Akane... I don't think so.
I do think Teru will be salty but it won't destroy their trust or anything.
Akane accepted his role in this chapter, he is not acting as Akane but as the keeper of the present, he has said that many times throughout this chapter. Even how he refers to Teru changes.
Tumblr media
But Teru ironically cannot see it, he can only see his friend, his student council colleague, and human: Aoi.
Tumblr media
When he does talk to Teru about his personal feelings, he is sorry, is nothing against Teru as a person. But Teru won't hear it.
Tumblr media
He is just doing his duty, which I believe is to judge.
Cause Mirai cannot pass proper judgment without Akane.
Tumblr media
It is also heavily implied that Kako does not need to be present for judgment to be passed on others, since Akane decided the court have started.
Tumblr media
EDIT: KAKO IS THERE!!! I only noticed on re read.
That makes a lot more sense. You need the three clock keepers to start the judgment. Akane can't be absent, just as Kako can't be absent
Tumblr media
Akane claims the clock keepers are the most dangerous ones to the school at the moment, but since he included himself as part of the danger, I don't think he means the clock keepers want to destroy the school or anything of sorts, he would never side with them if that was the case.
My theory is that he is being forced to judge everyone that may have broken the clock, and passing judgment to others can yield very dangerous results.
Perhaps they lose their lives.
Tumblr media
Considering how warped he sees Mirai and Kako, I am confident he doesn't trust them to make a fair judgment.
Tumblr media
I believe Akane will protect Teru in court, I truly do, but he needs to be a non-biased arbiter, so he will fight tooth and nails not to doom him, but I can't see him coddling Teru either.
Once Teru stops taking things so personally and realizes he is being forced into his role, he is not betraying Teru because of personal feelings or preferences, he should be able to understand and calm down.
Tumblr media
Why Akane feels forced to obey them is a different story.
It could be something related to their contract that we aren't aware of, or even related to Aoi, because it is strange we don't get any panel of her reacting to the flower petal monsters Sakura made as a distraction, and we could not find her in the auditorium with the rest of Nene's class when time stopped. We don't know where she is, we don't even have hints of her whereabouts. which is suspicious.
But it is honestly, hard to say.
I personally would like if they didn't get the clock keepers yorishiro, failure is good for the MCs sometimes, but since I am pretty sure the yorishiro will be destroyed by the end of the arc anyways, I at least hope it is not by Hanako or Tsukasa's hand, who don't even know what/where the yorishiro is.
Maybe the judgment will go wrong and Akane will take off the Yorishiro seal himself (Cause the mysteries are capable of destroying their own yorishiro, that was an important thing to learn with Sumire)
Tumblr media
Cause unless the yorishiro becomes Aoi when he tries to destroy it (which I have my doubts, I don't think a living person (even one that was 'dead' for a while before coming back to life) can be a yorishiro.) I can't see Akane not putting an end to the court if it goes too far.
But... As dark as it is I would be, I am down for exploring how Akane, mister "murder is unforgivable" would react to losing control of a situation and accidentally being an accomplice/having a hand at killing someone.

I have a theory but I don't think anyone believes me or will believe me. I still have to watch Double Exposure be played. Like every pricefielder I've been way to sad to play it after finding out about the break up, which to me would never happen, the girls would never break their promise of always and forever. I still need to watch the game played to gather more evidence but I think we're in an alternate universe this game.
I think Max and Chloe's relationship was altered. Max not remembering the fight they had after the photo at Away rang alarm bells. Why couldn't she remember? What I have seen feels very strange. Chloe isn't like herself at all. Her letter doesn't feel right. A lot doesn't make sense. Chloe would never abandon Max because she's still struggling, and I saw a lot of texts are confusing, like Max wanting to settle down but Chloe didn't want too, but then Chloe in a social post is sad she has nowhere to call home. Safi can shape shift. She messes around with people's lives in the game. She leaves a part of herself inside them, that influences them. if she turns into Max... What if she met Max and Chloe? The girls were happy and together and Safi met them. Realized Max had powers. Saw Chloe as a threat. All she would have to do is use her powers. Become Max. Jump into a photo. And as Max and Chloe, break the girls. Start nasty fights, have Max use her powers (which is why Chloe felt distrustful of Max), have insecurities made real (like as Chloe, telling Max she she can't look at her the same after Joyce) it would be so easy for Safi to ruin them.
And doing so would create an alternate universe where she could have Max to herself and Max and Chloe's relationship broke down. Even if she loses memory in the alt world, Safi would be confident she'd meet Max again and this time she'd be alone. The nightmare... Max hears 'herself' break up with Chloe because Safi is cooler and has powers... I really want to hear from people who've played/watched the whole game. I don't want anyone commenting just throwing the theory aside, I want us to look at the game and see what clues we find. There's rumored to be another game already being worked on, and fans have noted Rihanna has a lead role coming... So does anyone else know what I mean? The game also feels like we're in an alternate reality where Max herself is both so familiar but so different, from Safi's influence and the alt world itself. Like Vinh is not someone she'd ever be into. I see Max as a lesbian but even if she was bisexual, Vinh doesn't make sense as someone she'd be into.. I feel like this is all intentional. The game doesn't have Max realize this, so a lot of players maybe haven't. However messy the ending, I feel like there are clues something happened to Max and Chloe. I don't think the break up was their choice. I think someone did it to the girls. I really hope so anyway... all my hopeful theories for Max and Chloe didn't come true for this game and now this is all I have. I don't like how wrong their relationship feels and how out of character it feels, so I need a supernatural explanation to save them and I just really hope the next game reveals this, because I don't want their relationship in the game universe treated so wrongly. But once I realized this it's been distressing because nobody else seems to notice. I think because the shock of the break up, the hurt of them doing it, how out of character Chloe was, how weird Max could be (while also familiar) like it prevented people from realizing this is an alt world and Max and Chloe were supernaturally messed with. I feel alone. Anyone I share this with is to upset and dismisses it. The game didn't have Max herself connect any dots which is frustrating and they should have, but the clues are there. Hopefully more people will see the clues and talk about it. Though I know it doesn't change the fact Max and Chloe should have been together in this game but weren't. It hurts.

hi i recently came across your blog and have been reading a lot of your posts about dean - your analysis is incredible. i was wondering... in your opinion, which arc is the worst when it comes to deancrits misunderstanding/critiquing dean unfairly?
so i'm 50/50 on whether this is genuine or bait. if it's not bait, i'm so sorry. you did nothing wrong. it's just that i get a lot of messages that are so very clearly not in good faith. if it is bait, well, joke's on you because i'm about to say a bunch of words and a bunch of people are gonna read them. so.
i think the most obvious answer to your question is the jack situation but i'm not sure it's the correct one. i think by the time we even get to jack (especially to the soulless!jack part of it all) a lot of people have already sort of lost the plot on why dean is ever behaving the way he is. there's this tendency to view his behavior as if he wants to control the people closest to him, not always because he's inherently malicious but often because he wants to keep them safe and keep them close to him to the detriment of himself and everyone around him (see look! it's not deancrit! we know he's not a bad guy. we're just being objective and he's just an abusive asshole who should burn in hell). and i get it. i see how they got there.
but it's frustrating because how they got there is by 1. taking every single thing the characters say at face value despite all evidence to the contrary 2. viewing every single thing dean does or says in a vacuum, removed from any and all context and 3. forgetting that supernatural is a fantasy show, not a family drama or sitcom.
take the demon blood story line for example. what we actually see is:
sam going on a mission for revenge regardless of the costs or consequences (which he's aware exist even if he doesn't know the exact details)
dean trusting his brother until he finds out his brother's been lying to him
sam being told that what he's doing is wrong on multiple occasions by multiple people
dean offering ruby his gratitude for saving sam's life and an apology for the way he's been treating her since he got back from hell
sam continuing to lie and act shady
dean telling sam that he doesn't care about the demon blood/sam's powers, he just cares about sam's behavior
sam draining an entire nurse and killing her
sam almost killing dean on purpose and telling him he's not strong enough, not like sam is
dean still being the one to offer an apology when all is said and done, twice
but all of that gets rewritten into a narrative that dean's just never trusted sam ever and sam was only doing something he thought was right because all he ever wanted to do was save people. how could he have possibly known something bad would happen? and now, even after the fact, even after sam's said he's sorry, dean still won't let it go and holds it against sam forever and ever.
this narrative persists throughout the fandom. why? because sam threw a few tantrums in which he rewrote what was happening and dean didn't protest and the fandom took it at face value. (1)
on top of that, deancrits treat each of dean's actions like they happened in a vacuum. one of the things deancrits fixate on the most regarding the demon blood plot is dean saying, "You walk out that door, don't you ever come back." in 4x21. they treat it as if dean was being controlling and manipulative; abusive, even. they treat it as if, out of nowhere, dean just decided to throw john's words in sam's face because sam simply wouldn't do what dean wanted him to do.
what actually happened, however, was that sam had been lying to dean for twenty-one episodes about what he was doing, despite the continued warnings not to do what he was doing, and now sam had beaten the shit out of dean, left him bruised and bloodied on the floor, to go do something that dean had been told repeatedly, from a source they all thought was the authority on the subject, that sam absolutely should not do. what actually happened was dean made a last-ditch desperate effort to stop his brother from doing something dangerous that would get himself and possibly a lot of other people killed. (2)
the deancrits also tend to magically forget they're watching a genre show, not a family drama, when it comes to analyzing dean. the source of conflict wasn't that dean just didn't like sam's new girlfriend because sam trusted her more than him. it was that sam's new girlfriend was a demon and dean had just gotten back from forty years in hell being tortured... by demons. it was that dean had angels of the lord, before he really knew that the angels couldn't be trusted, telling him he needed to stop sam. it was that the angel that rescued him from an eternity of torture and becoming a demon himself told him that he needed to stop sam. (3)
so the deancrits frame this conflict between sam and dean as if dean just didn't trust sam, for no reason other than sam was hanging out with somebody else, and dean was being irrational about it. after all, sam was only trying to stop lilith, right? dean was being irrational and controlling. and it sounds reasonable when you look at it from their perspective. but their perspective is not anywhere near the reality of what was actually happening.
and that happens over and over and over again. we see it with the idea that dean is the one who is codependent to a toxic degree, despite all evidence to the contrary*. we see it with the idea that dean thinks all monsters should die and sam wants to save/help them. we see it with the conflict in s6 being framed as dean just being angry that cas dared to do something without his permission. we see it with the fractured relationship between the brothers in s8, both regarding dean's return from purgatory and the trials. we see it with the gadreel arc and then the one with cas leading the angels. we see it with the mark of cain and the darkness. we see it with mary's return. and then we see it with jack, and most especially we see it with soulless!jack.
it's all so exhausting. by the time we get to jack, the deancrit has piled up the same way the narrative circumstances weighing on dean have, and so it feels like deancrits are fundamentally misunderstanding the situation more severely than they have anything else but i think in reality it's just the last straw.
so i guess what i'm trying to say is that the misunderstanding isn't necessarily about the individual arcs but about the way a genre story is told in general. they're not just unfairly critiquing an arc. they're mischaracterizing a whole ass dude and fifteen seasons of a show.
*dean dragged sam back into hunting. how do we know that? because sam said it. what did we actually see? dean bringing sam back to stanford for his interview. sam going back to hunting because of the fire that killed jess. dean wanting to take a break from hunting several times while sam kept pushing them to keep going. dean wanting to split up and stay away from each other for awhile after the demon blood thing. sam leaving amelia before he even knew dean was alive/back from purgatory. dean telling sam to go back to amelia. sam choosing, all on his own, not to go back to amelia. sam basically threatening suicide because dean had other friends. sam unleashing the darkness because he didn't want to be alone. etc. etc. etc.
**also i think there is a conversation to be had about dean's coping mechanisms and trauma responses being less palatable though not anymore harmful than both sam's and castiel's but that's a different conversation for a different day

There's a lot that's frustrating to me about Angel the Series but a major thing is the Gunn and Fred relationship.
Because I love 'em both, but they remind me of Riley and Buffy. Two people who worked in a similar field and should have just stayed friends, because they may have been physically attracted to one another but really they had extremely little in common.
And it's not just that the show was setting up a love triangle, and Fred would have to choose who she loved more (which is also bad and I have never EVER seen a love triangle that didn't frustrate me). It's that the show WAS setting up Wes as Fred's love interest from the getgo. Wesley cared for Fred when she was crazy. He held her in Caritas when Gunn's friends were shooting it up. He was giving her dopey smiles and adoring looks first. They researched together and worked like a well-oiled machine, and the only reason he didn't make a move sooner was because of the whole "Billy" episode, where he was bespelled to be abusive towards her, and Gunn was a little bit, too, but Wesley took it so hard he shut himself up in his apartment for several days until Fred herself asked him to come back. As far as we know Gunn had no such guilt over that spell.
And out of nowhere Gunn decides he likes Fred too, but I think they just don't click. As aformentioned, they don't have a lot in common. He teases her for caring, and barely noticed or paid attention to her when she was dealing with the Pylea aftermath crazies.
Wes confided in Cordy that he wanted to ask Fred out, and she could see it, even. Gunn confided in nobody. In this same episode, "Waiting in the Wings," Fred says she wants to ask Cordy something and Cordy says "I think you two are perfect for each other" and then claims she used her demon powers to know what Fred was talking about when, actually, Fred wasn't talking about Wesley at all. Cordy then takes this false information and tells Wes that Fred is interested. How is this not setting up Wes as the underdog, and the one we should be rooting for, even though we love Gunn as a character, too?
When Wes sees Fred and Gunn kissing, it's a blow that comes out of nowhere for him, because he never suspected and Cordy had hinted that Fred was interested in him. Wes is more shy, he's more careful, he wants to be more sure and he's absolutely still thinking about the abuser stuff between them, but the show decided he took too long and gave her to Gunn instead.
And when he sees it... he steps back. He doesn't say a word. He doesn't discourage them, doesn't act hostile to Gunn, even though we can see how earth shattering this is for him. He has to watch Gunn and Fred be all gooey and sappy in front of him, and he bears his secret. If he'd said something to Fred at the time, I imagine she would have been apologetic, but would have said that Gunn asked her first and he's the one she chooses, and that would have been that. But she would have known, at least. Known she was loved by someone else, known that she didn't have to say yes to the first person who asked her. Wes doesn't put that burden on her, and carries it all himself.
He will have to wait two years before she admits feelings for him. Two years in which he will try to carry on fighting the good fight as before, he will try to protect Connor from being killed and kidnapped, he will have his neck sliced open, he will search tirelessly all summer to dig Angel up out of the ocean, he will deal with all the drama and demons and supernatural every single week as always, he will have his memory tampered with-- twice-- and will start a hate relationship with his enemy, who he will force to dress up as Fred because he's taking everything out on Lilah anyway.
He will watch Gunn and Fred fall apart because they were never going to be sustainable, and still he won't say a thing. Everyone at Wolfram and Hart in S5, including Spike but excluding Angel, will know that Wes is into Fred. And yet Wes will again have to watch Knox (I called him Holden at first, whoops) try to get his foot in the door with her, until finally, finally, Fred expresses her interest, and they get to kiss for the very first time.
That's at the end of "Smile Time." And the next episode, "A Hole in the World," is where Fred gets sick. Right at the start of the episode. Right after Gunn says he's glad Wes and Fred get a chance; he had his with her and he recognizes it's time for her to move on.
Wes and Fred didn't get one episode together. They didn't even get ten minutes of screen time together before she started dying.
They got one of the best love declaration speeches in the history of television... but it was about two minutes before she died, and seven episodes before he died and the show ended.
As I said, there's lots that frustrating about AtS, and I know Cangel also was teased and teased and teased before being snatched away in the most brutal and lazy way possible. But at least their final episode was really a good one. Angel and Cordelia had so much time and history together and were pretty much in a relationship anyway without being official about it. It was even brought up to both of them as a possibilty and both dismissed it, so it's not like they didn't have time and chances.
(And I know none of the BtVs relationships ended well or happily either, but we're not talking about this show right now, lol)
Fred and Gunn got a season and a half, almost, of cutesy smiles and breakfast at the same diner every morning and raising Connor when no one else was around, pretty much only because they were in close proximity and not dating anyone else.
Wesley-- who granted is not without his flaws and dark character arcs-- loved Fred deeply from the start and waiting patiently for years only to have her die in his arms pretty much 24 hours after they started dating.
It would have been better if we'd never had even that, or Wes had confessed his feelings and Fred had truly never been into him. The way it was just shows all the time that was wasted and lost between them.
Of all the cruel and frustrating things that show did, in my opinion this was the worst.

David’s head was spinning. The words of Mr. Emerson were echoing in his ears all while the old man smiled back at him.
He knew. How was that even possible? The entire summer he and the others had come and gone as they pleased, and the old man never said a word. Not even a hint that he could tell that they were supernatural creatures.
"Is that right?" David asked. He was on his guard now. Even if it was some old, grandfatherly man, he couldn't take any risks now. Things had become so unpredictable so fast.
"Yes, it is," Mr. Emerson stated. He moved his hand off the banister, freeing the path for David. Even so, there was little the vampire could do. At this point, he wouldn't get to the cave in time. He was a sitting duck.
"So what? You gonna stake me or something? Don't think I'll go easy on you because you're Michael's grandpa," David warned him. His eyes flashed a deep gold, showing off that his word was not to be taken lightly.
But the old man was not fazed by such a display. He only took a sip from the coffee mug in his hand, completely casual and indifferent. David had to admit, it took some real guts to not show any signs of fear when face to face with a vampire. Especially one that was free to do whatever it wanted thanks to the lack of limitations with power.
It seemed like hours and hours passed before the old man finally spoke again.
“Follow me, David. I’ve got something I wanna show you.”
If David wasn’t so skilled at keeping a poker face, it would have been obvious that he was positively baffled by such a request. No human ever looked into the demonic eyes he possessed and reacted with anything other than horror. Yet Mr. Emerson was completely unbothered.
He gestured for David to follow him, casually shuffling over to the other side of the room. He opened a door hidden in the corner and glanced up, silently waiting for the vampire to get a move on.
This has to be a trap, David thought to himself. Though even if it was, there wasn't much he could do in this situation. Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. He would simply have to follow and see where this went.
He was certain Mr. Emerson would have him go down the descending staircase first. Probably preparing to push him down the steps and have him land on a bed of spikes at the bottom.
To his surprise, the elderly man took the first step, casually heading down into the basement. It truly was strange. He was turning his back to a vampire and simply didn't care. Such curious behavior only drew David in more, and he figured he should see how this would go.
He followed Mr. Emerson down the staircase, the aged wood of the steps creaking under his leather boots. It was dark in the lower level of the house, but being in places devoid of light was David's specialty.
"I think you'll like this quite a bit. I've been working hard to do this properly."
Mr. Emerson rounded a corner and flipped a switch on the side of the wall. When David stepped up to his side a truly unbelievable sight greeted his eyes.
Under the warm glow of the ceiling light was a room he hadn't yet seen. But it wasn't just any room. It was a full living space.
Four full-size beds were placed side by side along the wall. They had thick oak bed frames and soft quilts spread over the mattresses. Two couches were set off to the side with a massive, antique bookcase and lamp set nearby for reading. A radio and record player were set up for any musical needs. A round table with wooden chairs was set up on the other side of the room with a mini fridge close by for snacks.
"Wh…What's all this?" David asked, still in awe of everything.
"Oh, this isn't even all of it," Mr. Emerson explained. "Those doors in that one corner lead to a few other rooms. Two bedrooms. One for the little lady and one for that kid ya got. There's also a bathroom. Got a tub if ya ever want a bath."
The more the old man casually explained the setup of the basement, the more perplexed David was. He was so lost by what was going on. It was a miracle he was able to find the right words.
"Is this….for me and the Lost Boys?"
Michael's grandfather had a proud smile on his face. He took another swig of his coffee before pointing up toward the top of the wall. There were thick, black curtains draped over two spaces, no doubt covering up windows on the other side.
"Got some grade-A blackout curtains and some special sheets to cover the glass. Absolutely no sun can get through this. Can't have any of you getting fried like chicken in oil when you're tryin' to sleep."
It was an odd way to answer the question, but that truly did confirm what David was wondering. This entire basement was turned into a living space for the boys, Star and Laddie. Someone actually took the time and energy to give them a home.
"I don't understand," David admitted.
Mr. Emerson nodded before taking a seat on a nearby couch. He let out a grunt and set his coffee down on the table across from him.
"You see, son," he began, "when I was a youngin’ I was a vampire hunter. A damn good one too. I was the best of the best in all of Santa Carla. Probably the best in California."
It was hard for David to picture this old man as a fierce hunter, but looks could be deceiving.
"I cut back on the hunting when I got married and had Lucy. Didn't want my family getting involved. It's an ugly life, and they didn't deserve to see that kind of gruesome stuff. So, I got an office job, put food on the table, and kept the streets safe at night. My wife and daughter were none the wiser."
"What changed?"
"Simple. I lost the love of my life."
Mr. Emerson's carefree smile dropped. There was a sense of pain lingering in his eyes. One that showed how time had not healed such a wound.
"Mary Emerson. She was my soulmate, and she left this world while I was out on a hunt. Had a stroke in her sleep. I didn't even know until the next morning. I was all by myself. Lucy was raising her boys in Phoenix. I had to deal with true loneliness for the first time in my life."
Even for a cold-blooded killer vampire, David had to admit he hated the idea of loneliness. His undead life was so much better with the boys in it. He loved them with all his heart, and he'd do anything to keep them safe.
"I realized what a great mistake I made. My hatred for vampires blinded me to what was most important. I let hate and fear drive my actions and didn't take the time to consider all those creatures were once human too. They had parents, children, brothers, sisters, friends. I wondered how many coven members or loved ones were lonely without them. How many felt like they would die of a broken heart."
He stood up again, his eyes fixated on David.
"So, I'll admit, I became a bit of a hippie. My daughter was once one, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," he said with a soft chuckle. "I quit hunting for good. I wrote letters to Lucy, let her come home when she divorced her bastard husband, and I appreciated life for what it was. It felt good to let go of hate. That’s why I welcomed all of you with open arms."
"That's quite a risky move," David pointed out "You know my boys and I could have easily killed you. Tore you apart like tissue paper."
"And yet, you didn't," Mr. Emerson retorted. "You sat at my dining table like gentlemen, helped my daughter wash dishes, and left my grandson with the biggest smile on his face I've ever seen. You may be vampires, but you boys aren't monsters. Not from what I've seen."
That really struck a chord with David. It was such a major change for him and the others when they were welcomed into the Emerson family. They had no issue with sharing their home and their love with a bunch of no-good punks that were seen as nuisances to the Santa Carla public. They were loud and bold and always eager to sing and dance all night long.
David had such hazy memories of his human life from over a century ago. Even so, he knew that this was his first time truly feeling affection from a family.
"I don't know what to say, sir…"
"You don't have to say anything, son," the old man assured him. "You've done enough in return. It warms my old, tired heart to see young love between you and my grandson. So long as you're good to him, my home will always be welcome to you. Including the times you need to hide away in the morning. I know you prefer the ceiling but you may wanna stick with the beds just so nobody gets a surprise if they ever come by the basement."
David bit back a snicker at that. He appreciated that the Emerson elder had a sense of humor for all of this.
Still, it was all such a shock. David hadn't had the comfort of an actual home in decades. He worked hard to make the cave as livable as possible for his vampire pack members, but it wasn't easy. They didn't have the ability to lock doors or windows or have a hellhound for security like Max did.
Having the Emersons take better care of him than his own Sire was quite bittersweet. Even if it hurt to be shunned by his very creator, at least he had others he could count on.
"Well….thank you, Mr. Emerson," David said, extending his arm out and offering a hand.
He hoped the old man would accept his gesture as a genuine token of appreciation. To his relief, it was accepted with a hearty shake.
"Call me Randy, son," he said. "You're family now."
Family. David could get used to that.
"Well then. I gotta get my day started and you've gotta get some rest for the end of yours. Don't worry, Lucy and the boys won't bother you down here. Just be sure to let your friends know you're okay."
He tapped the side of his forehead, hinting at David to use his telepathy to call out to the others. The vampire gave the old man a nod before watching him trudge back up the stairs.
David slowly slipped off his boots and shrugged off his jackets before tossing them aside on the floor. It was quite strange getting prepared for bed and not just flying up into the cave rafters. Sinking into the bed was a foreign sensation, but certainly not unwelcome. The mattress was plush and the quilt perfectly warm. Even with mere seconds of time spent lying in bed, David was already sensing the pull of slumber on his mind.
"Hey guys," he called out to the boys. "I'm not gonna make it to the cave, but don't worry. I found cover somewhere else."
"Where'd you end up?" Dwayne's voice answered him.
David could feel his lips curling up in a smile as his eyes shut. He managed to get in one last response before letting sleep take over.
"Home."

Sending out a letter to Max was a terribly risky move, but one that was absolutely necessary.
Sam had forged his mother's signature for school notes enough times to recreate her handwriting on her personal stationery. He and the Frog Brothers had slipped the note into Max's mailbox earlier that morning, urging the man to come by the house as soon as possible.
This was the first part of many tests they were going to perform on the businessman. If he didn't show up during daylight hours, that was the first red flag to keep an eye on.
"Pretty fishy that the sun is setting and he's still not here," Edgar pointed out.
"He'll probably use his work at the video store to cover his ass if we ask about it," Sam added.
The three boys were circled up at the table in the Emerson kitchen. They had been strategizing over peanut butter and jelly sandwiches while Lucy was out running errands. If Max truly was a vampire, Sam didn't want to risk his mother getting hurt.
He wondered if this was what Michael was going through. Stepping up as a man to protect the family.
"It's a small part of the plan," Alan assured the two. "We just gotta be prepared for the other parts."
Each boy was armed with plenty of tools for hunting. Makeshift crosses, holy water from the local church, pocket mirrors, and the sharpest stakes they could find. The three of them were buzzing with energy, waiting for their guest with great impatience.
"Just remember this. Nobody invites him in, and don't stop fighting no matter what. We've got to stay strong, men," Edgar said, voice full of confidence.
The other two nodded in agreement. Before anyone could say anything else, a shrill sound interrupted their thoughts.
The doorbell. He was there. No going back and no getting scared.
Edgar, Alan, and Sam all pocketed their weapons in their pants and jackets. They could go in guns a-blazing. Instead, the Frogs followed Sam to the living room of the house, close behind as the Emerson boy went to open the front door.
The guest of honor was standing right outside. Max Lawrence.
"Ah! Sam! Good evening," Max greeted him. "Nice to see you, son."
Sam didn't bother to hide his frown. This man didn't have the right to call him such a thing. It made him positively sick.
"That makes one of us," the young boy retorted.
"Well…I'm just here to see your mother. May I come in and talk to her, please?"
The three rookie hunters eyed one another. Slowly and carefully, they reached for the tools they had stashed away. They were fully ready to take the man down if he truly was the bloodsucking monster they suspected him to be.
But their plan fell through when a voice called out to Sam.
“What in the hell is going on here?”
The three boys swiftly turned to see Michael stepping in from the kitchen. He still wore his work gloves and carried a broom from his time sweeping the back porch. When his gaze landed on Max, his hand clenched tighter around the wooden rod of the broom.
“Sam, you and your friends go upstairs.”
“But Mike, we can’t do th-”
“I said GET.”
Sam shivered at the stern tone his brother used. He knew better than to question the eldest when he started talking like that. Though Edgar and Alan shared worried glances with their friend, it was made abundantly clear that Michael’s order was not to be taken lightly. The three of them glanced back at Max as they rushed up the staircase, making their way to Sam’s room.
“Huh. I wonder what it was they wanted,” Max said, trying to keep a pleasant and casual conversation. Though he smiled at Michael, he quickly realized that the happy expression wasn’t going to be returned.
“Anyway. I just came to speak with Lucy. She sent a letter asking me to stop by.”
Max pulled the piece of light pink stationery from the inner pocket of his blazer. He confidently handed it over to Michael, who was quite bewildered at the idea of his mother sending the bastard an invitation to come over. When he glanced over the writing on the inside, a smirk pulled across his face.
“Aww bless your heart,” he said in a condescending tone. “My mama didn’t send this, Max. Sam was just messin’ with you. Guess ya came all this way for nothing. Why don’t you head on home then, okay?”
Michael was just about ready to slam the door in Max’s face but found the door being stopped by the hand of the older man.
“Now, Michael,” Max scolded him. “I don’t think it’s very polite to shoo company away when they traveled all the way to see someone. Why don’t you just invite me in, and we can talk things out?”
“There ain’t nothin’ to talk about, Max. You’re not welcome and you ain’t ever gonna be welcome. Now I’d appreciate it if you’d leave.”
The more Michael fought back, the shorter Max’s temper got. Being such a powerful authority figure in Santa Carla, he wasn’t used to being denied the things he wanted. He didn’t tolerate defiance with his boys, and he certainly wouldn’t now.
“You know something, son,” Max said, voice dripping in venom. “You’ve got a terrible attitude for a self-claimed ‘southern gentleman’. I should have realized that when you and your trashy family crashed my party, but now seeing you being so disobedient to your elders, I’m starting to think you deserve some manners taught to you.”
Michael’s blood was practically boiling with rage. He loathed this man with all his heart. Not one to tolerate such treatment, he pushed his way outside, slamming the door behind him and holding up his broom like a weapon.
“You listen and you listen good, ya son of a bitch. I don’t take kindly to people like you who look down on others just for bein’ different. My mama is too good for the likes of you and I’d rather walk on hot coals than ever call you my father. You don’t even deserve to be David’s father.”
“Mic-”
“I ain’t done!” the boy snapped. “You’re so stuck up you could drown in a rainstorm. You think you’re so high and mighty, but you ain’t. If I ever see you ‘round these parts again I’m gonna beat some sense into you with this broom. Now get the hell off my property!”
Max was completely stunned into silence. Nobody had ever dared to speak to him in such a way. Even when his boys stepped out of line, he was sure to shut it down. Michael was an absolute spitfire. He could tell such threats were not to be taken lightly.
But that didn’t scare him. Max knew this wasn’t over.
“Fair enough,” the man said. “You win. I’ll be on my way. Have a good night, Michael.”
The Emerson boy didn’t take his eyes off of Max for one second as he carefully watched him walk down the path and get back into his luxury car. He was just happy to watch the man finally pull out of the driveway and get out of sight.
While Michael was feeling better to see him gone, Max was still smiling to himself as he drove back into the city. An eerie smile. One that hid the insidious thoughts he held within his mind.
“You’re going to regret messing with me, human.”

*3rd Person POV*
After crashing into the tree, Molly wakes up and looks around, disoriented. "David? David?" She calls out to her husband then she crawls out of the wreck. "David? David?" She yells but he is nowhere to be seen.
"Da...David?!" She said, shakily, then she staggers through the woods, calling for him. "David?! David?" She shouts. Then she comes upon a cabin, with a candle burning in the window. "Hello? Is anyone here?" She asked as she enters the cabin. "Hello?" She said and she passes a wall covered in tools, then sees the Man, who was the one she tried to avoid before she crashed, was standing with his back to her.
"It's you. You're okay. I'm so sorry." She said, apologetically, as she walks closer to the man. "I didn't see you there. Are you...Are you hurt?" She asked and she reaches out to touch him. "Sir?" She asked. He turns towards her, blood dripping down his face. His mouth opens, spilling more blood, and his face turns dark and rotting. She glances down and sees his stomach, which was cut opened and his guts were spilling out, and she screams.
Molly runs through the woods away from the cabin. She staggers onto the road, where a car is approaching. "Stop!" She shouts as she stands in the middle of the road, hands out, as the car, a Chevy Impala, comes closer.
"Holy-!" Dean said and he stops the Impala just in front of her. "You've got to help me." She said and she goes to the passenger's side and pounds on the window, which Sam rolls down. "Please. Please!" She pleads just as (y/n) leans forward from the backseat.
"All right, all right. Calm down, calm down. Tell us what happened." Sam said to her, calmly.
*(y/n)'s POV*
"I-I swerved, a-And we crashed. And when I came to, the car was wrecked and my husband was missing. I went looking for him, but that's when the man from the road, he...he started chasing me." The woman explains to us after we parked the car on the side of the road, all four of us were standing around.
"Did he look like he lost a fight with a lawn mower?" Dean asked her. "How did you know that?" She asked, shocked, as she looks over at Dean. "Lucky guess." Dean said with a smirk.
"Ma'am, what's your name?" I asked her. "Molly. Molly Mcnamara." She replied and the boys and I exchange a look. "I think maybe you should come with us. We'll take you back into town." Sam said to her. "I can't. I have to find David. He might have gone back to the car." She said.
"We should get you somewhere safe first. Then Dean, Sam and I will come back. We'll look for your husband." I assured her. "No. I'm not leaving here without him. Would you just take me back to my car, please?" She asked us. "Of course. Come on." Sam said and we get back into the Impala.
After pointing out where the crash was, we park by the woods and get out. Molly goes and leads us into the woods. "It's right over there." She said and we come up to this area and she stops and looks around. "I don't understand. I'm sure this is where it was. W-We hit that tree right there. This...this doesn't make any sense." She said and she goes to investigate, while Sma turns to Dean.
"Dean, we got to get out of here. Greeley could show up at any second." Sam said to him. "What are you gonna tell her?" Dean asked him. "The truth?" I said like it was obvious. "She's gonna take off running in the other direction." Dean said to us.
"I know it sounds crazy, but I crashed into that tree. I don't know who could've taken it. It was totaled. Please. You have to believe me." Molly pleads to us. "Molly, listen, we do believe you. But that's why we want to get you out of here." Sam said to her. "What about David? Something must have happened. I have to get to the cops." She said, in a panic.
"Cops...that's a great idea. We'll take you down to the station ourselves. So just come with us. It's the best way we can help you and your husband." Dean said to her. "Okay." She said and she comes back up.
We drive down the road, Molly was sitting next to me in the backseat. "We're supposed to be in lake Tahoe." She said, sadly. "You and David?" I asked her. "It's our five-year anniversary." She said to me. "A hell of an anniversary." Dean said and Molly let's out a small scoff.
"Right before, we were having the dumbest fight." She said then she sighs. "It was the only time we ever really argued...when we were stuck in the car." She said and Sam and I laugh. "Yeah. I know how that goes." Sam said. "Me too." I said as we look over at Dean, who scowls at us.
"You know the last thing I said to him? I called him a jerk. Oh, God. What if that's the last thing I said to him?" She asked, tears in her eyes. "Molly...We're gonna figure out what happened to your husband. I promise." I said to her, assuredly.
"This song..." she said as if recalling something. "What?" I asked her. "It was playing when we crashed." She said then the radio crackles again, and settles on another station. "She's mine. She's mine. She's mine." A very creepy voice, who I assume is Greeley's, said.
Then the radio starts making odd noises and plays 'House of the Rising Sun'. "Did you-- ?" Dean asked Sam. "No." Sam said. "I was afraid you'd say that." Dean grumbles while Molly leans forward, staring at the radio.
"What is that?" She said and we see Greeley had appeared in the middle of the road. Dean floors it straight at him. "Hold on." He said. "What are you doing?" Molly asked as we drive straight into Greeley, who vanishes in a puff of smoke.
"What the...What the hell just happened?" Molly asked, panicked. "Don't worry, Molly. Everything's gonna be all right." Sam assures her when the Impala begins to shudder. "Spoke a little too soon, Sammy." Dean said and the Impala coasts to a stop on the side of the road. Dean tries to start it again but the ignition sputters. "I don't think he's gonna let her leave." I said as all four of us exit the car.
"This can't be happening." She said, scared. "Well...Trust me. It's happening." Dean said as he opens the trunk and starts pulling out weaponry. "Well...Okay. Thanks for helping, but I think I got it covered from here." Molly said, nervously, as we turn and see her backing away from us, obviously terrified.
"Wait. Molly, Molly, wait a minute." Sam tried to say as he goes towards her but she backs up some more. "Just leave me alone." She said, panicked. "No no no. Please. You have to listen to me." Sam said, trying to calm her down. "Just stay away." Molly yells and she turns and starts to leave then I sigh before I take a few steps forward.
"It wasn't a coincidence that we found you, all right?" I said to her, loudly, and she stops and turns back. "What are you talking about?" Molly asked. "We weren't just cruising for chicks, or in (y/n)'s case dudes, when we ran into you, sister. We were already out here. Hunting." Dean said to her.
"Hunting for what?" She asked. "Ghosts." Dean replied and I facepalm at this. "D...d...don't...Sugarcoat it for her." Sam said, exasperated. "You're nuts." Molly said. "Really? About as nuts as a vanishing guy with his guts spilling out. You know what you saw." Dean said as Molly gives him a shocked look.
"We think his name is Jonah Greeley. He was a local farmer that died 15 years ago on this highway." Sam said to her. "Just...stop." Molly pleads to us. "One night a year, on the anniversary of his death, he haunts this road. That's why we're here, Molly. To try and stop him." I said to her.
"Now, I suppose this...ghost made my car disappear, too." She said and Dean shrugs. "Crazier things have happened, huh?" He said. "You know what? I'm all filled up on crazy. I'm gonna get the cops myself." Molly said to us. "I don't mean to be harsh, but I don't think you're gonna get too far." Dean said to her.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked, suspiciously. "Means that plan A was trying to get you out of here. Obviously that didn't go over too well with, uh, Farmer Roadkill." Dean replied. "Molly, we're telling the truth. Greeley's not gonna let you leave this highway." Sam said and Molly looks between us.
"You're s...you're serious about this, aren't you?" She asked us. "Deadly." Dean said, firmly. "Every year, Greeley finds someone to punish for what happened to him. Tonight that person is you." I said to her. "Why me? I didn't do anything." Molly said, confused. "Doesn't matter. Some spirits only see what they want." Sam replied.
"So you're saying this...Greeley, he took my husband? Oh, God." She said, terrified and tearful. "Molly, look, we're gonna help, all right? But first, you gotta help us." I said to her. "Help you? How?" She asked us.
Later, Molly leads back to the cabin where she said she saw Greeley. "This is it. This is where I saw him." She said as she points at this abandoned cabin. "Must have been his hunting cabin." Dean said just as I see vicious tools hanging, and a bloodstained table. "Huh. Seemed like a real sweet guy." I said, sarcastically.
"No markers or headstones outside." Sam said as he looks around. "You're looking for Greeley's grave?" Molly asked him.
"Yeah." Sam replied.
"Why?" She asked. "So we can dig up the corpse and salt and burn it." I replied.
"Oh. Sure, naturally." She said, with sarcasm.
"It's a way to get rid of a spirit." Sam said.
"And that'll save David?" She asked us. "Well, this is what'll help both of you, provided there's a corpse to be found." Sam said.
"So how do we find it?" asked Molly. "I'm not sure. After Greeley died, his wife claimed the body. And that was the last anyone saw of her. So good guess she brought him back here. But they had a thousand acres. He could be buried anywhere on 'em." I said to her.
"So this is really what you guys do? You're like Ghostbusters?" She asked us. "Yeah." Sam and I said. "Minus the jumpsuits." Dean said. "This is a fascinating conversation and all, but this highway is only haunted once a year, and we got till sun-up to wrap this thing up. What do you say we move it along, okay? Great." He said, briskly, and we go outside and continue our search.
"What are we looking for?" She asked us. "Greeley's house. Maybe he's buried there. Look for roads or paths or something. Stay close." Sam tells her. "Yeah. Okay." She said and we continue to look.
At one point, I noticed that she was gone. "Uh, guys...?" I started to say when we hear a scream. We share a look then we head off and see Greeley had grabbed Molly. "Whoops." Dean said as he points and shoots Greeley in the head, making him dissipates.
"Hey! Are you all right?" I asked Molly as I go up to her. "What has that son of a bitch done with my husband?" She asked as Sam comes up to her as well. "Just take it easy, all right? You're gonna see David again. You will." Sam assures her.
"Hey!" Dean yells, indicating something ahead of us. "Follow the creepy brick road." He said and I gesture for Molly to follow Dean. "Go ahead." I said to her and I follow Dean and Molly comes up behind me while Sam takes the rear end of the line.
"That thing shoots rock salt?" She asked, gesturing at the gun. "Yep." Sam and I replied. "And plain salt keeps away spirits?" She asked. "Simple remedies are always the best. In most cultures, salt's a symbol of purity, so it repels impure and unnatural things. Same reason you throw it over your shoulder." Sam explains as we round the corner and see a creepy house.
"You know, just once I'd like to round the corner and see a nice house." Dean said and I snort. "Well, you're in the wrong business, honey." I teased as I pat his shoulder and Sam, Molly and I enter the house, first, then few seconds later Dean comes in.
"Any headstones outside?" Sam asked him. "Yeah, right. Is it ever that easy?" Dean asked, annoyed. "I guess not." Sam said then Dean points at Molly and Sam. "You two check upstairs. See if you can find any notes or records telling us where he's buried. (Y/n) and I'll just check down here." Dean said and Sam and Molly go upstairs.
Dean and I looked around the room but nothing. Dean sighs and starts to head upstairs, I follow close behind. "You know, we have to tell her." I said to Dean, referring to Molly. "We will, just...not now. When we stop Greeley, then we can break the news to her." Dean said to me as we walk down the hallway and hear Sam and Molly talking.
"Yeah. Uh, it could be revenge. Could be love. Or hate. Whatever it is, they just hold on too tight. Can't let go. So they're trapped. Caught in the same loops. Replaying the same tragedies over and over." Sam said, in kind've a sad tone. "You sound almost sorry for them." Molly pointed out as we get closer to the room they were in. "Well, they weren't evil people, you know? A lot of them were good. Just...Something happened to them. Something they couldn't control." Sam said, in a soft tone, just as we get up to the doorway.
"Sammy's always getting a little J. Love Hewitt when it comes to things like this. Me, I don't like 'em. And I sure as hell ain't making apologies for 'em." Dean said as they look up at us, and I see Sam holding an old photo album. "There's nothing downstairs. You find anything?" I asked Sam. "Uh, just about every piece of mail or receipt they ever had. Looked through a couple, but nothing about a grave so far." Sam said as Dean investigates a wall.
"What?" I asked Dean. "There's something behind here." He said and he tosses his flashlight to Sam. "Here." He said and he moves a cabinet aside, revealing a small hidden door. He pokes at it. "It's locked from the inside." Dean said.
Turning around, he throws a back kick at the door, which does nothing. He looks surprised, then braces himself and kicks harder, making the door fall inward. We crawl through and, once we get into the room, we brush away cobwebs to stand up.
"It smells like old lady in here." Dean remarks said just as I find a corpse hanging by the neck from the ceiling. "And that would explain why." I said as I pointed at the body and they stare at it. "Well, now we know why nobody ever saw her again." Dean said.
"She didn't want to live without him." Molly muttered, sadly, while Sam picks up a chair as if to take down the corpse. "Dean, give me a hand." He said. "Really?" Dean asked and Sam nods.
"What are you gonna do?" Molly asked them. "We can't leave her like this." Sam said to Dean. "Why not?" Dean asked, annoyed. "She deserves to be put to rest, Dean." I said to him and he reluctantly agrees.
Sam stands on the chair and begins to cut through the rope as Dean steadies the corpse. "Son of a..." Dean grumbling at the smell, or the horribleness of holding a corpse.
Later, the boys begin to dig a grave for Mrs. Greeley while Molly and I stand by. "So...So, if you manage to put Greeley to rest, too...What happens to them?" She asked us. "Lady, that answer is way beyond our pay grade." Dean said and I sighed, exasperated. "You hunt these things, but you don't know what happens to them?" Molly asked, confused. "Well, they never come back. That's all that matters." Dean said and I look over at Molly, seeing that answer didn't satisfy her.
"After they let go of whatever's keeping them here, they...they just go. I hope someplace better, but we don't know. No one does." I replied to her. "What happens when you burn their bones?" She asked. "Umm...Well, my dad used to say that was like death for ghosts, you know? But...The truth is, we still don't know. Not for sure." Sam said then he looks at Dean. "Guess that's why we all hold on to life so hard. Even the dead. We're all just scared of the unknown." Sam said.
"The only thing I'm scared of is losing David. I have to see him again. I have to." She said and she looks down as I look at the boys, worriedly.
Molly was pacing in one room, looking through the photo album, while the boys and I were waiting in another room nearby. "I think we should tell her about her husband." Sam  said to Dean. "We can't." Dean replied. "Dean, it's cruel, letting her pine for him like this. I don't like keeping her in the dark." I said to him. "Neither do I." Sam said. "It's for her own good." Dean said as he gets up.
"I know you feel guilty, all right? But let's just stick to the plan. Let's get her out of here. Then we'll tell her." Dean said just as Molly approaches us. "Tell me what? What aren't you telling me?" She asked us and the boys and I look at each other.
"It's about David. You know what happened to him." Molly said, firmly. "Molly--" Sam tried to explain but Dean talks over him. "Sam, don't." He said. "Don't what? Don't tell me because I'll mess up your hunt? You don't care about me or my husband." Molly said, getting angry.
"That's not true." I said to her. "Really? Then whatever it is, tell me, please." She pleads and I swallow, wanting to tell her the truth, but then a radio turns on, static, then the song House of the Rising Sun begin to play.
"He's coming." Molly said, panicked, then Dean turns to me and Sam. "Stay with her." He said and he goes cautiously towards the sound. Molly stands by the window, I stand next to her  while Sam steps cautiously forward towards the next room.
Suddenly I hear a crash behind me and I turn to see a figure coming through the window. The figure then knocks me to the side and grabs Molly. She screams as she is dragged outside. I get up just as Dean and Sam comes running back.
"He's got Molly!" I yelled and we leap through the window and chase them through the woods. But we lose sight of them, and return to the house.
"This guy is persistent." Dean growls. "We gotta find Molly." Sam said. "We gotta find Greeley's bones. And, uh, no pressure or anything, but we got less than two hours before sunrise." I said to the boys and Sam looks through the photo album.
"Hey." He said and we go stand next to him. "What do you got?" Dean asked him and Sam points at the caption on a photo. "February 6, 1992." He said. "That was like two weeks before the accident, wasn't it?" Dean asked. "Yeah. I mean, it looks like the hunting cabin, but...I swear there's a tree there right where they're standing." Sam said then we look up.
"I should've thought of it." Sam mutters. "What?" I asked him. "It's an old country custom, guys. Planting a tree as a grave marker." He said. "You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness." Dean teased and Sam glares at him. "Yeah. I know." He said, somewhat bitterly, and we leave.
Moments later, we approach the cabin from the outside, carrying shovels. "Go get Molly." I said to Dean. As he heads inside, Sam and I begin to dig around the tree as we hear Dean firing at Greeley. We digged, feverishly, until I hit something hard. We look down and see it's bones. From inside, Sam and I could hear Dean yell, "Hurry up, guy!"
Sam then empties a box of salt into the open grave. Seconds later, I emptied a container of gasoline into the grave then Sam lights a match and drops it in and the corpse catches fire and burns.
Later, Sam, Dean, Molly and I approach the Impala and Dean pats it lovingly. "Oh, baby, it's been a long night." He said and he drops his bag in the back, then climbs into the driver's seat. Sam opens the back door for Molly as I get in in the back on the other side.
"All right. Let's get you out of here." Sam said to her. "I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what happened to my husband." Molly said, firmly. "Molly..." Sam said, sadly. "All this time...I've been looking for him, and you knew that...You knew that Greeley killed him, didn't you? He's dead." She said, in an angry tone.
"No, Molly. David's alive." I said and Molly leans down to look at me. "What? You're sure?" She asked. "I'm sure." I said and Sam looks at her. "We'll take you to him. Come on." He said ans she gets in, smiling with relief.
We pull up in front of a nice suburban home, the lights were on inside. "He's in that house, right there." Sam said as Molly looks at the house, confused. "I don't understand." She said as she looks over at the boys then at me. "You will." I said and we get out.
She approaches the window, and can see David inside, wearing a bathrobe, and pouring a cup of coffee. "That's...not...It can't be." She said as Sam, Dean and I were watching Molly then we look at each other. David looks up and a woman in a bathrobe comes up to him, kissing him on the lips.
"What's happening?" Molly asked as she turns to face us. "Who is that?" She asked. "That's David's wife." Sam said and Molly turns around to look at the house again, then back to us. "I'm sorry, Molly. 15 years ago, you and your husband hit Jonah Greeley with your car. David survived." I explained, feeling really sorry for her.
"What are you saying?" She asked us. "We're saying there isn't just one spirit haunting Highway 41. There are two. Jonah Greeley and you." Dean replied. "For the past 15 years, one night a year you've been appearing on that highway." Sam said.
"No, that's not possible. It was our anniversary...February 22nd --" Molly stammers before I finished for her. "1992." I said. "Yes." Molly exclaims. "Molly, it's 2007." Dean said and Molly's eyes widen. "Oh, God." She cries.
Flashback #1
"All right. Tell me about Highway 41." Dean said to us. "12 accidents over 15 years. Five of them fatal, all of them happening on the same night." Sam explains. "So what are we looking at...Interstate dead zone? Phantom hitchhiker? What?" I asked him. "Not quite. Year after year, witnesses said the same thing made them crash. A woman appearing in the middle of the road, being chased by a man covered in blood." Sam replied.
"Two spooks?" Dean asked and Sam nods.
Flashback #2
Sometime later, we found old newspaper articles referring to Molly and Jonah's deaths.
Flashback#3
"Now, where is Molly buried?" Dean asked David, as we interviewed him. "She...she wasn't buried anywhere. She was cremated." David explained, sadly.
"So much for burning her bones." Dean said to us as we walk out of his house. "Yeah, but then what's keeping her here?" I asked them.
Present Day
"Some spirits only see what they want." Sam said to her and she looks at us, tears in her eyes.
Flashback #4
Then a woman runs out onto the road, stopping the us. "You have to help me!" She shouts as we stare at her. "Dean, I don't think she knows she's dead." Sam said as the woman, which we figured was Molly, comes up to Sam's side. "Please! Open up! Please!" She pleads as she hangs on Sam's window. "Okay, okay! All right, all right. Just calm down. Tell us what happened." Sam said to her.
Present Day.
"And Greeley?" Molly asked us. "Each year he punishes somebody for his death...ah, chasing them. Torturing them. And each year, that somebody is you." I tell her. "But I don't remember any of it." She said. "Because you couldn't see the truth, Molly." Sam said to her.
"So that's why he won't let me off the highway. Because...I killed him. I killed us both." Molly said, realization, then she sits on the steps for a few moments as she process what we told her.
"Why didn't you tell me when you first saw me? Why wait until now?" She asked us after a few moments of silence. "You wouldn't have believed us." Dean said. "And you needed me for bait." Molly spat, accusingly.
"Well, we needed you." Sam said and she looks down. "David." She whispers, despairingly. "Molly, we brought you here so you could move on." I said to her, kindly.
"I have to tell him --" she said. "Tell him what? That you love him? That you're sorry? Molly, he already knows that. Look, if you want to go in there, we're not gonna stop you." I said to her. "Yeah, but you are gonna freak him right out. For life." Dean said. "David's already said his good byes, Molly. Now it's your turn. This is your unfinished business." Sam said and she looks down again then back at us.
"What am I supposed to do?" She asked. "Just...let go. Of David. Of everything. You do that...we think you'll move on." Sam said and Molly begins to cry. "But you don't know where." She said. "No. But Molly, you don't belong here. Haven't you suffered long enough? It's time. It's time to go." I tell her.
She nods sadly, then steps slowly away from the house. She turns her face upwards as the first light of dawn creeps over the rooftops. Bathed in light, she becomes part of the light and vanishes.
"I guess she wasn't so bad...for a ghost. You think she's really going to a better place?" Dean asked Sam. "I hope so." Sam said and I nod. "Yeah, me too. She's already been throug hell for 15 years." I said. "I guess we'll never know. Not until we take the plunge ourselves, huh?" Dean said to us.
"Doesn't really matter, Dean. Hope's kind of the whole point." Sam said to him. "All right, Haley Joel." Dean said as he smacks Sam in the shoulder. "Let's hit the road." He said and we cross the road and get back in the Impala as the light rain begins to fall.

6 and 91 for Lottie/Van? Can be platonic
6 -Sharing Secrets; 91 - Piggyback
Sometimes, having a friend who's about seventeen feet tall comes in handy, thinks Van. Particularly when your skateboard betrays you out of absolutely nowhere.
Her arms are looped around Lottie Matthews' neck, her knees hiked either side of Lottie's hips. They've been puffing along for a few minutes now, Van playing the role of Yoda to Lottie's Luke Skywalker, both of them sweaty and more than a little exhausted. It's silly, Van thinks; she could have just limped her way home, busted ankle or no. But Lottie had looked at her with grim determination, bent down, and said, "Hop on", so--what else was there to do?
"Anyone ever tell you you're supernaturally strong?" she asks now, conversational. She's trying not to focus on the throb of her ankle, which has swelled purple and aches with every jostling step Lottie takes.
Lottie makes a soft noise of amusement. "Not really."
Her hands are careful, gripping Van's legs. Even so, it hurts like a motherfucker. Van grits her teeth.
"Can I tell you a secret?"
"Uh huh," Lottie says, breathing unsteadily. Neither of them have ever processed just how many hills are in this stupid town, and how most of them seem only to slope upward at something like 90 degrees. Lottie's holding her own, but with each step she takes, Van is struck with increasingly vivid images of toppling backwards and breaking her skull open.
To distract from this potential travesty, she says, "This is my first piggyback ride."
"What?" Lottie puffs. "Ever?"
"Ever," Van confirms.
"Your dad didn't...?" Lottie trails off. Shakes her head. "Even my dad used to, when I was little. Stopped when I turned six, but it was something."
"I don't have a dad," Van says mildly, realizing a beat too late this might qualify as a more important secret than the piggyback thing. She doesn't tell her friends about family stuff, about her cage of a ramshackle house, or the complicated routine of keeping Vicky on track. Twelve is too young for all of that, but it's all she's ever known, so what point is there in complaining?
Lottie considers this last sentence for a long stretch. Her body tilts forward, her chin set against her chest as she drives bullheadedly on up the hill. On the other side, the rich side of town waits. On the other side, Van will find ace bandages and ice packs, and maybe a glass of shock-cold lemonade so fresh, it'll set her teeth to aching.
First, they have to get there, and she has to deal with what Lottie says next. She braces herself, sweaty cheek nestled against dark hair, her arms tightening around Lottie's neck for balance.
"Huh," Lottie says. "I guess that would do it."
Her hands shift up Van's thighs, hoisting her a little higher. The knob of her spine is sharp against Van's chest; Lottie's in that squirrelly stage of adolescence, an awkward giraffe of a girl who nonetheless strikes Van as strangely grown-up. Only a grown-up, after all, would let what Van's just said go with nothing more than a huh.
Van draws a deep breath, a low whine leaving her throat when her ankle gives a particularly awful pulse. Lottie glances back, brow furrowed.
"Sorry. Almost there."
She says it like it's her fault, somehow. Like Van's skateboard mishap--which ended in her board skidding off into the street and being mowed down by a pick-up--was something she should have seen coming, should have been able to deflect. It's weird, that she'd take an accident so personally, and weirder still, that she's carrying Van all the way across town to safety.
"You're a good friend," Van tells the side of her head. "And, seriously, ridiculously strong. You should go out for the wrestling team."
Lottie laughs breathlessly. "I was thinking I'd try soccer, actually."
Soccer. Van hums, considering. Yeah, that's a better fit. She imagines herself on the field, dribbling a ball, passing to Lottie at the eleventh hour. It sounds good.
"Cool. Maybe I will, too."

Hi! I really hope that this doesn't come across wrong, because you're my favorite author of all time, but I am curious about how and why you write pairings with Billy? I mean, he's a violent and awful racist who tried to kill a kid. I'm just curious about Billy shippers, and I wanted to know what you think about all that! You really are my #1 author, and I really, really hope this doesn't come across as mean!
I debated answering this at all because I really don't involve myself in anything remotely related to fandom unpleasantness or the kind of immaturity that leads to "ship wars" and outright bullying, but I can tell your question was asked in good faith so this will probably be the one time I answer anything like this.
I write for myself. I write characters that interest me. I'm interested in complex characters. They have the most wiggle room for expression and interpretation of angst and growth and suffering within my kind of creative narrative. I fully appreciate that the Stranger Things fandom is where I gained traction, but I've been in fandom for a decade and I've written for Hannibal, Supernatural, Vampire Chronicles, Dragon Age among many others that I usually orphan because writing for myself is essential. I don't write to appease or instruct or create a moral guideline for how to be or how to love.
I won't reel off a list of reasons "why" i write pairings with Billy because I don't need to justify anything to anyone. I don't endorse what I write. I explore complicated characters and I feel things through them and I write and follow my creative instincts where a story might lead. I don't write to be popular, I never have, and I never will and if I thought for a second that the only reason my fics gained traction in this fandom was because anyone saw me as some kind of Anti-Billy Flag-waver, I'd delete every single thing I wrote including my AO3 username. Luckily, I know that's not the case and those who like my writing and stories enjoy them because they're smart enough to select what they like and leave what they don't.
I think there's a stunning level of dissonance between people who are insecure and fandom and those who are secure. It's fanfiction. It's literally transformative works. I can transform whatever I like and I write what I'm drawn to and I am drawn, always, to complicated characters with the potential for growth and evolution from low places. I've written so much for so many fandoms and some of what I've written has been pure, ice cold horror, straight up. The idea that I'm supposed to be someone who only ever writes Fandom Stamp-Approved Characters is hilarious to me. I write about murderers, people who kill, soldiers, assassins and even serial killers. I could spend time and energy explaining why I'm drawn to writing darker elements and giving them a bright, hopeful growth arc but I shouldn't have to explain ANYTHING and I don't, so I won't and please, anyone else reading, do not ever feel like you have to explain or justify what you write. That path leads nowhere good. No one should regulate what people write. NO ONE has the right to bully someone out of a fandom because they disagree with what they're writing about. No one.
I have always tried to be very open and supportive about encouraging people to feel safe exploring their interests, be it kink, trauma, whatever. I'll fight fiercely to defend people's right to enjoy literally whatever the fuck they want because life is hard, time is short, real life is disappointing and AO3 at the end of a long day can be comforting as fuck. The idea that some people are handwringing because people write about a "violent awful racist who tried to kill a kid" is so ridiculous to me it makes me laugh every single time. It's not real. It's a story. It's a TV show. I can explore whatever I want and so can everyone else.
Here's the very closest you'll come to hearing me give reasons why and I'm only doing it because I want other people who feel belittled and bullied and shamed for exploring what they're drawn to, to see this. The person I was at 17 years old is nothing like the person I am now and I cannot emphasise that strongly enough. I come from an abusive home. The girl I was at 17, 18, 19 and even 20... if I met her now, I wouldn't know her and she absolutely wouldn't know me. I lost who I was as a child because I was abused and it's only in the last ten years I had enough experience, distance and self-exploration to rediscover myself and really grow. Nothing excuses racism or violence. Me writing these characters is not excusing it. Writing domestic violence is not endorsing domestic violence. People need to understand this because it's a massive problem in the queer publishing community; this idea that all queer media needs to be morally squeaky clean, to be flawless and sexless and adhere to the perfect cis-heteronormative outline in order to be "acceptable" and not cast a pall on queers overall. I believe people can change. I believe people can see themselves in a piece of media and WANT to be better. I know because it happened to me. People can change. I like to think there are circumstances in which Billy could change. In which there was an intervention point, the possibility for redemption.
Fanfiction isn't real life. I would be so happy if people could understand this. Fiction is FICTION. It's exploration, it's themes, it's freedom of expression, it's art, it's for fun. It's not for everyone. No single thing is for everyone and it never, ever should be. My writing isn't for everyone. That makes me really happy because it means those who might resonate with what I write, will find it and have their own space to enjoy it. I'm a person with finite energy and time who dedicates a lot of that energy and time to this corner of fandom where I reasonably expect to be able to write whatever the hell I like however I like and if anyone has a different opinion of that, they'll be sorely disappointed. Complex, flawed characters whose experiences mirror my own will always be compelling to me and I will always be drawn to exploring redemptive narratives for them. If people don't like it, they don't have to read. If they get upset that I'm writing something they disagree with, that's on them and if they feel the need to draw attention to their discomfort, that's far less to do with the person they're complaining about and more an indication they need to do some serious shadow work.
Thank you for your question, no harm was inferred and I wish you all the best. Az. 💜💜💜

Full Episode Commentary
2x8: Rose
Tumblr media
When Elena's abductor delivers her, Trevor feeds on him. He doesn't even bother to cover up his kill, he just leaves him there. I really love vampires lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Damon: Wait, did you see Tyler's eyes turn yellow? Caroline: They were more gold with amber highlights.
I'm pointing out these random little conversations Caroline has with Damon because her hate doesn't come out until Elena falls for him, and it gets worse when she finds herself attracted to Klaus. So yes, she's perfectly fine with Damon here. "A bite from a werewolf can kill a vampire, so don't be his friend! Do you understand me?" Damon is extremely protective of her, and I feel this is rooted in his friendship with Liz. I'll show what I see in the cut when I get to 2x13. "If you want to drop the hint to your mom, that Aimee's body is at the bottom of a ravine with a cracked spine. Might save your mom some time." lol… well at least this was one of Katherine's kills.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tyler is at school, carrying guilt for killing Sarah while looking at missing photos of Aimee. He has no idea that vampires exist, he's gonna assume Caroline is a werewolf. I think it's fantastic what the writers did with Tyler and Caroline. Similar to Stefan when he was in transition and Caroline breaking bottles at the carnival, Tyler is unaware of his own strength. He breaks the lock off his locker without even trying. Jeremy and Stefan realize that Elena is missing. Not just missing, but missing since the masquerade ball because her car is still parked at the Lockwood estate.
Tumblr media
I love the lighting in this house where Trevor and Rose are staying. Lit this way because they don't have daylight jewelry. This is a great set to film. The boarding house is a great set, but I love it for Damon's bathroom because I'm a sucker for nice bathrooms. Black clothes, black shades, black gloves, black hat. Trevor look like a badass in his lack of daylight jewelry. Like the brothers, he imagines what Elena tastes like because she looks like Katherine. Rose stops him from sinking his teeth in. Yeah, probably best you don't feed on your ticket to freedom. "Buzzkill." lol… he already sounds like Damon. Rose takes a Damon-like approach. She doesn't want to captor bond with Elena because if she starts to care, she'll give up her freedom to save her. Woman wants her freedom, so she slaps Elena hard enough to put her out.
Tumblr media
Stefan can't make up his mind. It's as if he's trying to put Elena's disappearance completely on Damon. He does that a lot... assumes the worst of Damon. He tries to blame him for not putting Katherine in the tomb, to which Damon ensures he put her in the tomb. Stefan then tries to blame him for not taking Katherine's threat seriously, to which Damon explains he doesn't know when to believe her or not because she lies. When Stefan finally accepts the reality that Elena's disappearance isn't on Damon, he believes he can get information from Katherine to rescue her. Obvious that Stefan isn't thinking clearly. Hand Damon a plan that makes sense, and he'll be all for it. He's not gonna turn to Katherine for help because he knows it's pointless.
Caroline starts acting shady with Tyler, pretending like she has no idea he's a werewolf. I feel it's the worst time to play with Tyler, honestly. He finds out that he's supernatural after spending episodes dragging it out of Mason. Now that he's triggered his curse, Mason is gone and he has no one. That's not something he should go through alone, and he's getting upset that Caroline is forcing him to go it alone.
Tumblr media
Elena: Who's Elijah? Rose: He's your worst nightmare.
Elena tries to sneak out of the house to escape just like she did with Ben and Anna. Trevor and Rose are an older, stronger duo. Rose warns her that there isn't anything around for miles, so she has nowhere to run. Elena is naive to the fact that neither vampire has daylight jewelry, so she has no idea that they can't leave the house without sheilding themselves as Trevor did. Like Damon, I fell in love with Elijah from the moment he appeared on screen. He's everything I imagine a vampire would be. "Yeah, but Damon's right. She's not gonna tell you anything, not without something in return." Damon is almost always right. Sometimes he's right even when he's wrong, that's how often he's right. Stefan is asking Bonnie to remove the spell on the tomb when that's the entire reason her grams died. Like what? Just as idiotic is the fact that Stefan can think of doing a locator spell when Elena is with Damon in 1x11, but he can't think to do a locator spell in 2x8? Bonnie is the one that has to come up with the idea. Like seriously? I'm glad they didn't write Damon to be this stupid. Bonnie uses Jeremy's blood to do a locator spell on Elena. They're biological cousins, so his blood works. Stefan is bothered just by the sight of Jeremy's blood. He's such a blood junkie. Bonnie's nose starts bleeding because she's using too much power.
Tumblr media
"It's Elena." Damon has no problem with good plans. But no, he doesn't want Katherine out of the tomb lol. Tyler is playing basketball when he catches sight of Caroline. omg these confrontations are insane. When he grabs her, she physically assaults him. He's like… you're stronger than me? lol uh, yeah. Tyler is getting pissed because no one will be honest with him, and he's alone in it.
Tumblr media
It takes Elena getting abducted for these brothers to take a road trip together even though Damon asked for one back in 1994. So yeah, you can already see how she's bringing them together. Again, Stefan assumes the worst of Damon. "Oh, come on Damon. We both know that you being in this car has absolutely nothing to do with me anyway." I consider him an ass that way most of the time. Why can't Damon be taking that trip for both reasons. Surely Stefan doesn't think he'll rescue Elena by himself.
Stefan also acts an ass about the pros of Damon being in love with Elena. He's basically admitting that he benefits from Damon being in love with her because that means Damon will be helping him protect his girlfriend. But so you know, it's also the beauty of Stefan losing Elena. The problem with Stefan is that he wants to benefit in all ways. He knows that by respecting Elena's choice, she's gonna die by drowning in 3x22. And it's because of Damon's blood that she's gonna survive the drowning. He actually believes he should benefit from that, but he won't. If you let your girlfriend die, then you let your girlfriend die. Damon would rather Elena be alive than have her respect, put it that way.
In this episode, Stefan is literally benefitting from Damon being there because Elijah would've killed him, and Elena would still be handed over to Klaus. Damon being in love with Elena pisses Stefan off, so I have no idea why Stefan would push Damon to get emotional with him about it. The elephant in the room will become an issue later... in a scene where Stefan doesn't stand to benefit from Damon being in love with Elena. He's only happy with it on their road trip because he needs the help to save her.
Tumblr media
What I like about Defan's road trip is their "beauty of" parallel. Damon can't walk away from Elena in 2x8 the way Stefan walked away from Damon in 1x5. It's the road trip vs the car wash. You'd have to look back through their scenes to find these parallels, but I will say that Delena is perfectly written in their Beauty of the Dark soundtrack.
Tumblr media
Bonnie is so sweet. Jeremy is worrying about Elena, so she has him helping her do a spell to send Elena a message. It's a nice distraction for him. Her nose starts bleeding again, and she passes out when she finishes the spell. Jeremy tries to wake her. "Again with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" The Salvatores don't know about the Originals because Klaus compelled Stefan to forget.
Tumblr media
"A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys, though, but I digress."
lol... Elena basically gets the same thing from Rose that she got from Isobel. Why Stefan, why didn't you go for Damon. Every time they use "suck" in their dialogues, I always consider the alternate meaning because vampires are bloodsuckers. So when Rose tells Elena she's more of a sucker for the bad boys... the same can be said for Elena.
Tumblr media
"You're the key to breaking the curse." How insane it must be to find out you're the key to breaking a 1000+ year old curse, and breaking it requires you die. Tyler confronts Caroline in her house, slams her against the wall until she reveals her vampire self. That boy is terrified when he sees her fangs lol. They make their female vampires strong as hell, and I love it. "Doppelicious" is a good nickname for Elena, I actually like it. I feel sorry for Trevor and Rose, running for 500 years because of Katherine. With as many people as Katherine pissed off, I'm surprised she didn't have a team of vampires hunting her down. Bonnie is sweet. If Damon knew about Bonnie's weakness, he would protect her more than anything. Not to be rude, but he likes having a witch in his corner. In some ways, I view Bamon's friendship as I view Delena. Just as Damon makes Elena feel like anything is possible, I think Bonnie makes Damon feel like anything is possible. It's the difference in their powers, really. Damon is limited to vampire powers, Bonnie isn't.
Tumblr media
Stefan has no idea that Damon is the reason Elena has been feeding him her blood. But Damon does now that Stefan told him. You have to compare this scene to the scene in 2x5 to see it. "I wonder if Elena would be so quick to open her veins to that guy." Ripper Stefan is written alongside 1864 Damon. Just in knowing this, fans should know what Damon does to Elena in season 3. "Yes, Stefan, exactly. Back when you put blood into me so I could be a big bad vampire." This is why Stefan apologizes to Damon at the end of the episode… though not the only reason. I'll explain at the end of the episode. "I guess he found something else to live for." Stefan had 145 years to find something else to live for. His character is beyond ridiculous to me.
Tumblr media
Rose: Hey! What are we? Trevor: We're family, forever.
Trevor and Rose are so beautiful. Elena realizes they're scared. When you have 500+ year old vampires scared of a vampire… you have to know something's up. It's because they're scared of Elijah that Elena is scared of Elijah. Elijah was my reason to watch The Originals. I love him almost as much as I love Damon.
Rose: I have her doppelgänger. Elijah: That's impossible, her family line ended with her. I know that for fact.
I always refer to this scene because if not for the tomb being opened, no one would've known about Elena. Technically, Stefan is the reason they found out Katherine survived because he's the reason all the vampires got out. Once those vampires got out, word spread of her suvival. So yes, if not for Stefan going into the tomb, Sheila wouldn't have dropped the seal. Poor Rose doesn't consider Elijah's words because he is a man of his word. He said he would pardon her. He didn't say he would pardon Trevor. This is something Elena picks up on pretty early. "Human. It's impossible."
Tumblr media
Damon: Wait, I got a lot more experience than you do with those sorts of things. Stefan: What is your point?
Damon is reasonably terrified of going in to face a vampire that's older than Katherine, more in knowing that they just barely survived her. But that's not Damon's initial point. He flat-out told Stefan that he has more experience with this sort of thing. Stefan plans to storm the place without a plan and without care to his own life. Great to save Elena, but that doesn't require dying. "I can't think of a better reason to die, but if you want to stay here, I'll totally understand." So Stefan again assumes the worst of Damon. In truth, it's not about Damon dying, it's about Damon dying when surviving is just as easy with a plan. Stefan is going in half-cocked like he can't spend five minutes talking strategy... which was the entire reason Bonnie's grams ended up dying ffs. All it took was Elena screaming, and he went in half-cocked like he needed to. It's for this reason, Stefan is likely to die. Just as Damon is emotionally impulsive, Stefan is heroically impulsive. He doesn't think, he doesn't plan, he just does. That's why he was the one that suggested they get help from Katherine to find Elena, and pushed it with Bonnie even though Damon was right. In going after a vampire that even Katherine is terrified of, probably best to have a plan. Otherwise they'll die and lose Elena anyway because they're dead, but Stefan doesn't think that far ahead.
Tumblr media
"Please, don't let him take me." This is why Rose wanted Elena to be quiet. She started to care, now she's having a hard time.
Tumblr media
They're lucky she dies from a werewolf bite. She would've changed the game, and that's me being honest. Their ages go like this... Rose is older than Pearl, Pearl is older than Katherine.
Tumblr media
Elena tries to leverage the moonstone for her freedom. "What is this vervain doing around your neck?" lol… so much for your protection, Stefan. I always refer to this scene whenever I talk about Damon. If he wanted to compel Elena, he could have at any time.
Tumblr media
"Excuse me. To whom it may concern. You're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that? I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girl. On the count of three, or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"
OMG he's fantastic. I can't help but love him. Damon is busy keeping Rose busy... the sucker for bad boys and the bad boy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love Damon's eyes here.
Tumblr media
Stefan pulls a football ram on Elijah. When Elijah goes in for the kill, Damon steps in and stakes him with the wooden rack Elijah planned to use on them. Yeah... Damon saves Stefan. You then get a stairwell scene to coincide with Damon's signature moment, the Miss Mystic pageant. And of course, this pretty part...
Tumblr media
Jeremy and Bonnie are laying in bed, waiting for Elena to come home. tbh, I'm not a fan of the Jeremy/Bonnie ship. I actually hate them together. But I love the Gilbert sibling hugs.
"You know what? I've never said it out loud." This Defan scene with Stefan's apology pushes Damon's scene with Elena. If he compels it from her memory, then it's as if he never said it out loud. This is where I point out what I was talking about earlier. Stefan is never about Damon. He's about Damon when it's convenient for him. When he apologizes to Damon in 1x14, it's all about finding Elena. When he apologizes to him in this scene, it's all about protecting Elena. Even when he gets the cure for Damon, he leaves town to protect Elena. They even tarnish the hell out of his sacrifice in the series finale. It's not about Damon, it's about Bonnie and Enzo. Stefan never does for Damon simply to do something for his brother. It's always a dual thing for him. So anyway... Damon is gonna take his selfish moment with Elena just as Stefan took his selfish moment with Damon in 1864.
It's a shame that Caroline has to lie to Tyler to protect Damon and Stefan. She's really trying to help him, yet she's not actually helping him. It's such a difficult position to be in, you know?
Tumblr media
"Lexi once told me that you're one of the good ones." Rose reveals that it was Lexi who tried to hook her up with Stefan. That's your open and close of the episode. "A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys, though, but I digress." Rose talks to Stefan because, well... Damon is at Elena's house. But also because he's the bad brother, so she's not sure what to make of him yet. Better she talk to the good brother. Once Damon staked Elijah, Elena had to stop him from going after Rose. But yeah, Rose admitted she knows of them, but she doesn't know them. You can see the obvious differences in Damon. He cares more about Rose abducting Elena than he did with Anna abducting Elena. He hadn't fallen in love with her yet. That's why he's willing to kill Rose simply for abducting Elena lol. So Rose is there to tell Stefan it's not over. It's just getting started.
"I don't need your help, but I think you need mine. Elijah may be dead, but this isn't over. It isn't over. The originals, they'll come for her. They have to. They're doing it for him. Klaus."
Rose is so damn fantastic. She's there to help protect Elena, period.
Tumblr media
Damon's not gonna let what happened with Katherine happen with Elena, so he can't be selfish with her. It's because he can't be selfish with Elena that he compels her to forget. The compulsion itself, a selfless act. He leaves her with only one thing... the necklace that represents hope for her and Stefan. If you don't know why I'm saying all this, I'll make it real simple... Elena basically relives her birthday on her deathday by remembering this compulsion. That's why he cries when he compels her. "I knew how much it hurt him. But he did it."
Tumblr media
I feel the soundtrack and the kiss on the forehead is all about 2x1. And they switch it up. In this scene, it's Damon's soundtrack. When she remembers it in 4x1, it's Elena's soundtrack. Damon's selflessness is specific. He's not gonna let Elena come between him and his brother the way Katherine did... which is the point. It isn't Damon who lets Elena come between them, it's Stefan. That's why you get this...
Stefan: We let Katherine come between us. If we let that happen with Elena, we're not gonna be able to protect her. Klaus: You know, Stefan blames me for trying to tear him from his brother. But I think we both know who really came between them. You.
Tumblr media
Damon will be able to protect her BECAUSE he didn't let her come between them. That's what Dr. Fell is for. What you eventually get is two fake deaths... Katherine's, then Elena's. Just as Klaus gets his hands on Katherine in season 2, he gets his hands on Elena in season 3.
Tumblr media
Yeah, that kill was too easy lol... get ready for the Originals.

What were your thoughts on how the Saitns were revealed to be real in the Nikolai series? Considering that, before then, the powers of grisha were called "small science", the supernatural seemed odd to me.
Hi, thanks for you question!
This is definitely an interesting one, I'm afraid I don't have the King of Scars duology on audiobook so it's a while since I read them (I usually do my rereads with audio rather than physical) however I do remember thinking about this at the time. I think that a big aspect of this is that Grisha found the need to rationalise and try to explain their power to otkazats'ya people to reduce persecution; look at the difference between Fjerda, where Grisha power is seen as demonic magic, and Ravka, where it's seen as a form progression. Our easy go-to inbetween is Kerch, a country caught between a strong cultural superstition and a very desperate desire to remain at the forefront of global development and cement its position in the global economy (I have lots of worldbuilding thoughts here but that's probably for another time); here, grisha power is not seen as magic or as evil, and they look on Fjerda as backwards for this view, but it isn't seen as something progressive either - it's seen as an exploitable resource, at the price of those how carry it. If this is the situation of the three most powerful countries in the world when Grisha power has been rationalised and presented in terms that otkazats'ya should be able to comprehend and accept, then Grisha would be even worse off in a world where there was no understanding whatsoever of their ability as anything other than magic.
I hope I'm making sense. I'm trying to say that ideally Grisha power would never have been labelled as 'small science', but embraced instead as what it was in ancient times. This concept didn't come from nowhere; early Grisha are rarely specified in orders and are described with many different capabilities (such as the Saints when Nina says some people in Ravka have stopped thinking of them as miracle workers and started thinking of them as acts of Grisha), and some characters (such as Jesper's mother Aditi) never have their order revealed to us. Although in Aditi's case we can assume she was an Alkemi from the descriptions of her power, she also makes "bread rise just by looking at it" which doesn't necessarily fit any order's typical description and only ever called herself "zowa". If it weren't for the need to define power as something scientific and palpable instead of an almost ineffable force is the only reason that Grisha power was ever called "the small science" instead of magic. If it were magic and Grisha weren't capable of channelling the kind of power that the Saints had or that Zoya learns, then they would be even weaker than they already are; because of the state of their world, it's only safe to have 'magic' when you can use it to protect yourself.
I hope this made sense, thanks for your question and sorry it took so long to answer it. A note for everyone else with asks in my inbox right now, I promise I am slowly working through them and please don't hesitate to end me more I love getting them

Fictober Day 8
prompt: "Are we happy"
Fandom: Supernatural
Character: Dean Winchester, Endverse Dean Winchester
Warnings: Internalized homophobia, the F-slur
Summary:
Dean's POV: Dean has a conversation with Endverse!Dean where they commiserate about the future of his relationship with Cas and how it reflects on his own sexuality.
Dean had a lot to think about after his conversation with himself from five years in the future. He was right about one thing, saying yes to Micheal was completely out of the question.
He continued to watch as his alternative self packed for the upcoming mission they were gonna take. It was weird watching himself in the third person. After a few minutes, he finally decided to break the silence left by their previous conversation. “Have we always looked like that when we walk?”
“Would you be quiet? I only have like an hour to prepare to kill the devil… my brother– our brother.” Future Dean pivoted so he wasn't looking at his past self anymore. It was just as weird for him as it was for his younger counterpart. “Just because this isn’t your timeline doesn't mean the situation is any less severe.”
“Come on, I have so many questions.”
“Are they about the mission?”
“...No”
“Then I don't wanna hear them.”
“Don’t be like that. When are you gonna get another chance like this? To talk to yourself face to face.”
“I can just look in a mirror.”
“Yeah well, I got questions about our future.”
Future Dean sighs. He hands his past self a pile of shotguns. “You get three questions, I’ll answer whatever you wanna know… but you clean these while we talk.”
Past Dean hesitates before asking his first question “...Any other regrets? Other than the whole ‘not saying yes when you had the chance’ thing.”
“...Cutting Sam off. I’m pretty sure that’s why he decided to say yes… and I never got to truly forgive him.”
“That’s all?”
“...yeah.”
“Bullshit. I know my own lying tells.”
“...I guess sometimes I regret what I said to Cas… but only sometimes.”
“What did you say to him?”
“Does that count as your second question?”
“Uh– no.”
“Then I've already said too much about it.”
Past Dean things for a minute. “Oh I know… my question is what's up with Cas?”
“Very clever,” future Dean says sarcastically. “Fine but it's a long story so buckle up.”
“Buckled.”
“Basically… Cas never left my side when the world first went to shit. You know– I don't know exactly when in 2009 you're from but that's when it started. He turned to me after his search for God went nowhere but I barely ever gave him the time of day. And it's not like I couldn't relate I mean… I know a thing or two about being abandoned by your father when you need him most…”
“You shouldn't say that kind of stuff about Dad.”
“No, I know… but it's not like neither of us have ever thought it before,” he said. “Anyway, back to Cas. He was just always so anal-retentive and uptight that I never appreciated what he brought to the table.”
“What table?”
“...After some time I started to suspect that Cas… well I thought he might have had a crush on me.”
“Oh,” past Dean says genuinely surprised.
“You didn’t know?”
“Well, I mean… I thought that he was just like that with everyone I didn’t think it was…”
“But regardless of his feelings, I didn’t think I could, ya know… reciprocate them.”
“Well yeah… were not…” Dean cut himself off. “We're not… are we?”
Future Dean looks down. “Living in an apocalypse camp will do that to you… make you think about things you never had to think about before… things you repressed for years…”
“We can’t be…”
“No yeah, I'm with you. That's why I slept with every woman I could… to prove it.”
“Prove it to who.”
“To me… to you… to every version of myself in every period of my life.”
“And what about Cas… what did you say to him?”
Future Dean sighs. “I said… that he should think about finding a girl… or else people will start to think he's a faggot.”
“Why would you say that.”
“Because it's true.”
“True for him or for yourself?”
“Ourself” future Dean corrects him.
“No way I’d never–”
“But you did… because I did.”
“But you said you only sometimes feel regret about that…”
“Yeah… anyways we have to leave soon come up with your last question."
“...Are we happy with ourselves?”
“Happy?” future Dean said with a scoff.
“Well not happy– happy but… it's just you’re throwing a lot of things at me and between what you said to Cas and the way you treat the women around here… there's no way you don’t regret how it went down more than you're letting on.”
“... You're right. If I could go back in time I’d tell Cas to never change anything about himself.”
“And what about you– what about us?”
“It's too late for us.”

Idk about you, but I believe in the “Problem Sleuth, The Felt, and The Midnight Crew co-Exist in the same universe” supremacy even though it may not be true. It’s real in my heart 😞💖
I believe this with all my heart too!!! It would be wasted potential otherwise 😩
Personally I like when the Felt are included in the mix! Its either MC and Team Sleuth, or MC and Felt, but rarely all three. Like the idea of the Crew and Team Sleuth potentially working together against a common enemy is too good. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't, right?
This is where I start rambling and its really long, you don't have to read it! I just felt inspired (I even talk about this post)
I also like to imagine the historical innacuracies in the Problem Sleuth universe are due to the Felt messing with the timelines. Tho it's not like their universe was entirely accurate and realistic in the first place (it doesn't have to be), as stuff like innocuous doubles and the imagination realm are a thing that exist and make sense to them.
I should clarify two things:
As a noir artist (aesthetic, NOT values) who's really keen on history I've done plenty of research on the time period that PS is based on for my own stories, and I'm in no way saying that it should be accurate! I just think it's funny to imagine a gang who messes with time and space were the reason why a noir detective knows the existence of Snoop Dog.
I should also say that I apologize if my ideas have already been said or done before. I got no way of knowing what people in the 2010s came up with already (I was 8 when Homestuck was peak in popularity, have mercy). Tho I do have to thank a specific fanfic that triggered my monkey brain into developing a similar concept to what the author did with the Crew (Y'all have made me start reading fanfics again, I hope you're happy). it's Mr Suit and Tie btw.
All being said, I proceed to talk about my silly little universe half inspired by TWAU game.
Before the events of Problem Sleuth it was just Team Sleuth, the gals and Kingpin as n°1 public enemy. All living in a film noir world forever stuck in the prohibition era, and althought the years go by they essentially stay the same. Not until one day stuff not yet invented started to appear out of nowhere, time anomalies that affected sometimes even structures began to happen (Spiderman into the spider-verse type of anomalies), same time as two new criminal organizations began causing trouble.
Again, this was all before the events of Problem Sleuth. So they had time to accept these new changes over the years and grew accustomed to the new stuff around them, using them to their advantage even.
Also similar to GPI creating the universe thanks to time shenanigans, Slick created the city even if he "didn't exist yet" in this universe
As I explained in a previous post, Team Sleuth and other characters from the webcomic are all human in my interpretation (with a few exceptions). While the Midnight Crew and The Felt are just disguised as such. I don't have an explanation why or where they come from, nor do I want an explanation. As @/problemsleuth said "a little bit of supernatural & eldritchness goes a long way in making noir very very fun." and it's SO very true.
But why I find this particularly interesting is because I think it gives a great excuse why Team Sleuth is after the MC and the Felt. We're talking about a new set of characters who all weirdly possess strange abilities that could endanger the public (the MC with their shadow based magic and the Felt with their time shenanigans), and not just common mobsters. I don't think it's unfair for Team Sleuth as they got equally powerful friends and are not entirely incompetent at times. If they could beat DMK, they can beat anything tbh.
I got a lot more to say about the whole "human disguises" stuff, but this post is already too long and it's off topic (my whole rambling is off topic) so I'll leave it up to here.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, if you've read this far.

Random Stuff
So... giving this manga a really fast look... I want to read it thoughtfully again someday These little things stood out to me...
Tumblr media
Hanako and keys....... please stop.. I can't take it. This little pose of his mocks me a bit. you want to know about my key so baaad?~ realllllly?~ just haaaang there.~ there seems to be a lock in there too? if that won't make me go even more crazy her brooch is also there. for some reason.
Tumblr media
Everything as in... 'everything'? then how come you didn't know his future will change? or that it's different from what's in his book, even? his inference with supernatural stuff (the clock) while you call him 'normal' While this 'everything' is not so reliable for me at this point, I'm still interested to see you back at some point to tell us more about this 'everything'.
Tumblr media
Never gets old. ~
Tumblr media
I wonder how come Kou didn't tell Teru Hanako-san put a seal on his staff or how Teru supposedly didn't notice the seal on it with it right there in front of his own eyes many times until now. Did he see it's best if it stays sealed like that for Kou's sake, despite it being like a 'family treasure' to the Minamotos?
Talking about Teru looking after Kou...
Tumblr media
He keeps a close eye on Kou, to the point when Kou skipped class, he was there to see about it...
Tumblr media
but when Kou stayed after school to hang out with an 'evil spirit' as Teru calls it, got beaten by Tsukasa... he was nowhere to be found.... how come? it would be funny if he didn't ask about Kou's injury after he got home or if Kou was like: yeah.. I fell down. haha.
Tumblr media
Hmm... Tsukasa is selfish? How come? Please... I'm crying in here and want him to think about HIMSELF more. Not too 'wise' of you miss, you should know better. Not to say... she is talking as if she doesn't put herself that category. The deepest part of that category. How funny.
Tumblr media
I wonder juuuust a little why she would show some nice gestures from time to time with others...
Tumblr media
like the mokke or even Mitsuba 2.0, while she goes around stating she doesn't care if all case to exist at the end.
Nene is not an exception. She even talked about her in person. In front of her- let's be friends/I don't want to harm you. Behind her back- I don't care for her, even if she doesn't want to keep going in destroying the Yorishiros, I won't give her a choice, then I don't care if she died out of it. .....................
Another thing... she seems to take Nene's hands in hers quite often... which kind of makes me wonder...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nene didn't ever question her hands heat, or said they are cold or whatever. She appears in photos normally, even ... hmm... something about her is different from usual 'ghosts'. she is not a living, yet not a ghost... fine. who cares.
Ok, to cool off!
Tumblr media
Ehhhh.... perfection.......
Let's keep going!
Tumblr media
Hmm... doesn't this apply to ch 86? or... does a cheek kiss count? ...... or were they supposed to have it back then? after all... Hanako-kun really seemed to be about to do that, but was holding back I guess?
Tumblr media
Hmm... really deep words. kinda reminds me of this...
Tumblr media
Anyway... these...
Tumblr media
Huh? You queen of luck. Won't say more.
Tumblr media
forgetting about the whole -boy/girl- thing because I just feel it's misleading at this point... what do you mean sir?! ............. I'm just laughing, if anything, looking forward to see the lovers' suicide ............ this thing... when you don't want to see things in 'some way' but you're forced to, anyway. it's mocking.
Ok, now... p.p arc related little stuff
Tumblr media
Defensive lovely Nene-chan!
Tumblr media
This boy and keys... again... STOP!!!
Tumblr media
T-T
Tumblr media
Can perfectly see Tsukasa & Nene in here.~ But oh, we got a similar thing with them, hehe...
Tumblr media
uhh... how lovely...
Tumblr media
what a nice feeling...
Tumblr media
Then do a thing about him, instead of just threatening little him then crying later because of how 'helpless' you are. Prove your attitude to me, Kou-kun. Not with words, tho. I'm already sick of that.
Tumblr media
Still feeling bad Tsu was left out from all this fun!!! Ahhh!!! He would love to be a part of this!! WON'T HE?! That wasn't fair!!! WHY wasn't Tsukasa asked to come join in this, huh?! At some point Amane-kun can say "I had these tickets to go watch a movie with my lil bro but he doesn't like theaters, so would you come with me, Yashiro-san?" then "we need students to volunteer to clean the pool, I asked Minamoto 'Yashiro-san' even Mitsuba 2.0 is there! and we still need more participators" THEN GO TO YOUR SUPPOSED -THE CLASS NEXT DOOR- TWIN"!!!!!! UHHHGGG!!! This thing makes me angry!! I get maybe we weren't supposed to see Tsukasa with others too much back then, or even the twins together too much.. but like... that's not fair....... let the boy have some fun!!!
................... ok... enough of that........... didn't expect I will talk this much about it.......
Tumblr media
Oh... some deep words, again....
At times I really wonder... If Tsukasa had some other goals out of letting our guys in this perfect pic world, beside that obvious 'grant M 2.0 wish' one destroy No.4's yorishiro... maybe he wanted them to get what kind of reality they actually live in, see how they would react.. will they still want it? reject it? try to change it? Hanako-kun is a special case, isn't he? I think maybeee... to Tsu... this was also a push for Hanako-kun into the right direction! get him to open his eyes to some of his hidden desired and actually.. at some point.. voice some of them out!
Tumblr media
In addition to everything, maybe he said that influenced by their p.p arc experience. Tsu even got Nene-chan to lean some cool lessons in the little experience/the wish of No.4 thingy. How cool of him.
I don't know how to put this thing... but all I will just say is that Tsukasa maybe was after hitting too many birds with one stone out of the p.p thing. He must be proud of his work at this point. Lots was achieved in that arc, especially on the HanaNene side and MK, which also seem to Tsu's interest kind of. This boy... a true mastermind, have to say. looking at 12 y.o Tsu... am I surprised? not at all.
Tumblr media
That being said, let's welcome our cute little mastermind kitty-boy!~ no matter how much time passes, I'm so in love with this whole scene.
Tumblr media
So, yeah... I really do sympathize with Amane-kun in here. I mean... his little brother is soooo irresistible~ let's admire him together, Amane-kun!!!
Tumblr media
yessss, just like this! . . .
Due to pic limits, some more stuff will be added in a 'reblog'.
