These frames from the main story always get me bad b/c they reveal just how much MC not remembering him affects Sylus, how deeply painful that fact it is to him. A reality that Sylus tries to conceal (perhaps even to himself) through acting smug/sarcastic, aloof, and even hostile towards MC for much of LAR. But those dark bags underneath his eyes tell their own story of sleepless nights — (or afternoons ig) — and inner torment. They are visible but silent proof of his pain.

Much like how he reverently caresses MC's wrist in an earlier chapter (the iconic scene we all know and love), or how stunned and gutted he is when the shopkeeper tells him that MC is disgusted by him, or how his tone shifts noticeably when he speaks to MC at the auction, the dark circles under his eyes is a way for the main story to let us know that Sylus loves MC deeply. And always has.

The hints were all there from the very start, even before Sylus' second myth made things more clear.

From the POV of Sylus, LAR was never the first chapter of an enemies to lovers story, but something far more tragic.

It looks like Agatha is expecting Rio to put her fingers in her mouth, and opens her mouth on instinct the second her hand comes near her face, and then she seems genuinely startled when she wipes away her tears instead. Eyes dark and wide and solely fixated on Rio, mouth falling open, and then the second she realizes she’s swiping at her tears she puts on that unaffected air — shakes her hair back, huffs out a laugh, smooths out her lips — and tries to blow it off like it’s nothing

in my opinion one of yellowjackets' worst crimes is how often they use the adult storyline as comic relief but like. while actively doing a disservice to the whole thing. i love the jokes! usually they're great jokes. but you have all these fantastic actresses that signed up to this cool drama show about grief and trauma etc etc and actually gave them these super interesting and fascinating characters. and it feels like more and more often or at least so far in s3 they're just there as the butt of the joke or a break from the teen timeline
