grian blames himself.

"i didn't put enough water..."

mumbo's death was his fault. and so was skizz's. first he didn't end the session early enough. then he didn't put enough water.

both of his teammates were out. first and second. both died on the same tower. the tower he built to help them get more lives. to help them live. and they died on it.

it's almost as if it's some sort of divine punishment. as if the gods are telling him, "this is why you can't have nice things. you'll break them."

mumbo died on his last attempt. right before grian would have ended the session. right before grian could have saved him.

but the miner didn't want to kill the canary. he wanted the canary to live. and he died for it. because miners aren't meant to go into the coal mines alone.
