This is as much as I’m going to say on the debacle at the moment.

Veilguard as a text worries the audience is at least a bit racist on the whole. It wants to somehow prevent this from playing out in gameplay this time and also avoid the whole issue altogether maybe thankyouverymuch. This is in no way an actual ethical shift from previous BioWare games. They’ve just finally said ‘oppression bad’ in the text instead of hoping you’d know that and added some extra weight and consequence just in case you really wanted to kill the black dude or side with the fascists for noreasonatall.

To contrast. Disco Elysium knows most people are quite racist. It has zero interest in the audience’s response to its approach. And its approach is to call racists clowns right out the gate.

I know which approach I prefer, and I know I prefer it because it’s ethically stronger and not built on a codependent relationship with the audience. I also know why Veilguard did things the way it did. If you’re mad about it, maybe just check in the mirror for greasepaint first. And at least consider acknowledging that BioWare’s audience holds stock in the clown shoe factory.

I feel a bit bad about saying this but a lot of the hate Lando is getting at the moment is because of Lando fans.

It’s because you give them attention they so desparately crave.

It’s so easy to tell that so much of the hate he is getting at the moment is just to get interactions and fans jumping to his defence straight away are playing right into their hands.

I understand it is difficult to not say anything back when you see your fave getting abuse over nothing, I myself have done it as well, but honestly, block and ignore and eventually if they have no one to argue with they’ll find something else to occupy their minds while they sit and rot on their couches at home.

It’ll not only be better for your fave but also better for you.

Lando is always talking about mental health, please take care of yours as well. Arguing with attention seeking people online will not do any good for you. And I truly think Lando doesn’t care that much what a random Sally or Jack thinks online. He has his core people around him and during race weekends you can see & hear how loved and adored he actually is by real fans and peers alike.

bakugou is bad at social media. not exactly terrible, yet not so great either.

he really doesn’t care too much for it nor does he use it that often but he’s not that unfamiliar with it. he finds himself being on tiktok from time to time though he never really bothered to make it known that he had an account in the first place, just enjoying whatever he comes across and liberally blocks accounts that come up on his fyp that pissed him off. he never posts anything either so it didn’t matter. it’s a typical account with a generated username and a blank profile, 57 following, 0 followers.

recently he found a video that he wanted to share (an edit made by a fan) and posts the link on twitter, alongside saying how ‘it’s real sick’ of them to make that for him. he didn’t even know videos like that were famous. the effort and skill it took made him think it were cool.

what he also didn’t know, was that his profile would be revealed when you press on the link.

he got so confused when his account suddenly gained so many followers in just two days since he ‘never mentioned it.’ that was until he sees the replies on his tweet that the linked he used to share got him exposed.

he checks it out for himself which proved that he did actually share his account without knowing, but it’s ‘whatever.’ even after everyone found out he just used it like normal. it’s only a pain when they kept asking him to post something.

he truly is without care, yet he underestimates the fans who immediately stalk his ‘almost’ empty profile. you see, he doesn’t know that his reposts are public because he doesn’t actually look at his own profile. it’s usually a like, like, repost, favorite, like, then close app routine that he does before he goes to bed.

there's a few funny videos here and there, cooking videos and recipes too, things he'd like to try out soon for himself, or techniques that were really helpful for him. some are also videos of fan edits that he recently discovered, where the same video he shared was at the top of the page.

yet, there was one reoccurring face that kept popping up. a pretty girl who likes to lip sync some songs or show off their trinket hauls. sometimes mini vlogs from their day to day or makeup vids. and the topic trends everywhere: DYNAMIGHT TIKTOK CRUSH

when you saw it you really couldn’t believe it yourself that the one anonymous commenter on your videos was a pro-hero, your favorite nonetheless. though, it makes you a little nervous since your face is plastered all over different social platforms because you’re only active on that app. you don’t know where to go from there except squeal into your pillows. definitely flattered when you recall the many times he called you pretty on your vlogs.

as the rest dive deeper into his little ‘crush’ they even saw him comment on a few of your videos with compliments that sounded extra flirty. they teased him so hard saying how he looks like a creep especially with that profile. he’s never gonna hear the end of it. soon a new topic blows up that reads: GO FOR IT DYNAMIGHT

in his defense, if he were to give anyone an explanation, he thinks you have a really nice smile and a really soothing voice. also that you’re real cute and charming, that’s why he could watch and even rewatch all your content in one sitting. he couldn’t get enough of you, absolutely smitten. even had to ask kirishima how to turn on notifications for an account in the guise of turning it on for his agency's tiktok.

you’re also the only account he’s following that’s not a cooking channel or a pro-hero. and yeah it’s basically all that, a crush. not that he expects you to actually give him a chance, he’s happy just seeing your content.

however, the poor (not really) bakugou is actually unaware of the whole situation of his ‘tiktok crush’ trending since he was finishing a mission. only finding out when he got a call from kirishima asking if he found a girlfriend already. “what the fuck are you on about?”

“your fans are talking about how you keep reposting videos of this one girl on tiktok. i mean, it’s kinda obvious if you’re dating.” and it hits him, quick. your username (the one he could only remember, really) flashes in his head, but he laughs it off. “nah nothin’ like that. think i could shoot my shot though?” he asks him and kirishima says, “haha! i think she already beat you to it.”

not knowing what he meant, he swiftly gets home, showers, and lays on his couch whipping his phone out of his pocket to search up your username. and there he was, staring at his phone, unable to stop the smile on his face when he sees the thumbnail of your new video. he opens it immediately and there you were, holding a dynamight figurine (a very limited one too!) close to your cheek that you’ve never shown before until now. you never thought to show it thinking he might see it and think of you as weirdo. it gave the opposite effect actually, even made him more confident because who would've thought your pretty collection had a 'random guy' in there (definitely not random for you at least).

bakugou immediately likes, reposts and adds it to his favorites. even screen recording the whole thing cause you never gave access to download your videos—it was a very special moment for him okay!

he then comments, ‘you can have the real thing too.’

a few minutes later it’s got your icon with a heart beside it. he chuckles, happy that you finally noticed him. beams when he gets a notification that you followed him back.

he’s definitely going to dm you after he calms down. just hopes this time you don't beat him to it again.

BOOK OF BILL SPOILERS

One thing I like the most about Bill is that he’s an unreliable narrator. He’s a liar

His dimension is flat but he can see 3d. In the show he claims that everything was flat. Flat minds, flat dreams and that he “liberated” his world. Which we know now was him destroying it. This paints him as a cold killer but yet in the book it is stated he misses home and can’t return but that he’s happy, but that he’s a lair. (Stated by axolotl, a being older and more powerful than him)in the book, it also states that everyone loved him in his dimension but that may also be a lie. He may have been ostracized and looked down on for his mutation, except we know his mother loved him. Him wanting to show what he saw to his race led to him burning down his dimension. It was an accident I believe, that there was no malicious intent , just him wanting to show others what he saw. He wanted to show them the stars. But he went too far. think he caused a some sort of rift that sort of just decimated his dimension or his powers going haywire and reduced it to atoms. It’s stated he was left covered in blood.

I’m pretty sure he’s blocking memories. I think the trauma of destroying his dimension left him cold and allowed him and his morals become skewed.He only became worse as he traveled realms and into the nightmare realm and became obsessed with chaos. He and his awful being and it’s good that he’s locked away in therapy prison.

I like that’s he’s a crazy irredeemable person with such tragic backstory. I’m curious about his history and what led him to be the way that he is. He’s trillions years old so who knows what else he been through. I doubt he’s always been this all powerful dream demon. I think he’s tries to paint himself as this being who was always evil but I don’t think he was like that. (He literally blacks out when he thinks about it too much, it’s easier to lie and say it was on purpose and that he’s just evil)

Yes he’s Bill Cipher, a dream demon no one should trust but once he was just Billy who liked his sandwiches with no crust.

after sitting with my thoughts about the epilogue for some time, I think the thing that broke the story had started right after Dabi's dance. said thing is LOV' utterly out of character treatment of each other and Shigaraki specifically.

them just standing there and passively observing the scene makes absolutely zero sense, if you use anything from their previously established relationships within the organisation for reference. especially with All for One's creepy comments. Spinner even points out shortly before this chapter that AFO!Shigaraki seems nothing like his normal self and this person is not the one he had chosen to follow.

and yes, Spinner does approach screaming Shigaraki and tries to help him, and his concern later leads him to seeing Shigaraki's mutated form in the cave, and on its own this development for Spinner is in line with his character and all around fine. pretty reminiscent of Toga and Twice, too.

(except Spinner is not allowed to really help Shigaraki in any way, unlike Toga was allowed to help Twice, and this entire thing between Shigaraki and Spinner only ends with Spinner's regrets and survivor's guilt instead of anything good or meaningful that isn't meaningless angst porn)

it isn't Spinner approaching Shigaraki that is the issue, it's the other's complete lack of action or even reaction besides appearing mildly disturbed. this is simply out of character for all of them, just judging by Twice's example who had similar breakdowns and wasn't plainly ignored by the others until his fit stops. this reaction makes even less sense, when you take into account the current state of the League. Twice had just been murdered by Hawks, the double agent who had infiltrated the League via Dabi, and Mister Compress had just sacrificed himself to give the League a chance for escape, and was sent to Tartarus immediately after his condition was no longer life threatening. Kurogiri is also being held captive by the heroes. there are only four of them left, with two dead and two captured. and none of them even mention the dead or the captured outside of the context of Kurogiri and his quirk.

this straight out makes no sense if you look back to the Overhaul arc and remember how far Shigaraki and the rest of them were willing to go to avenge Magne's death and Mr Compress' destroyed arm. this was important.

the event had motivated Shigaraki to be a better leader, because he had realized these people depend on him, and he won't let them be hurt under his protection. it had started the seed of self-doubt in Jin which would eventually grow to the desperation that allowed him to overcome the mental block against his quirk in the MVA arc, because he wanted to do everything he possibly could to help the League. it allowed him to make his clones despite the crippling trauma, because he saw Toga's hurt, bleeding body, and he didn't want her to die.

even fucking Giran, a broker whose very profession requires him to care about himself and his own well-being first and foremost, had sacrificed all of his fingers to prevent Redestro from getting his hands on the League. because he wants to protect them, to save them. and then we never actually see his mutilated hands or hear anything from him ever again.

and when Twice actually dies? all we get in response to that are two upset faces from Dabi and Toga's fury. that's it.

i really want to stress how out of character this barely-present reaction is, because Magne's example is right there and when Overhaul had killed her, the League knew each other for no longer than a month. this League has been together for at least half a year, had been through thick and thin together, had spent months on the run, homeless, having no one but each other to rely on, has defeated the Meta Liberation Army, quite literally, with the power of their friendship. they all cared enough about each other and Shigaraki specifically to stay with him during those months they had to fight Gigantomachia with barely any breaks for rest, still homeless, barely scraping by. it was imperative that they all survive through this together, especially for Shigaraki, who had went on this quest of getting stronger at least partly so that he would become a more reliable protector for the League. and when Twice falls victim to the hero who had murdered him in cold blood, because no one except for Dabi was there to save him, Shigaraki doesn't even get to react to Twice's death, and possibly never even learns about the fact.

on topic of Dabi, his reaction being exactly two frames of sad expressions and including the footage of Twice's murder into his broadcast, and ending immediately after that, also makes no sense. Dabi is someone who holds himself accountable and despite his declarations, cares about the League, it's the very reason he was keeping Hawks from the League and sprinted to Twice as soon as he realized Hawks' intentions with him, to protect him. Dabi's unsuccessful attempt to save Twice is another iteration of Overhaul, a combination of Shigaraki and Twice's roles in the tragedy. but unlike Shigaraki, who had steeled himself into taking care of his subordinates and becoming a responsible and strong leader, or Twice who had never forgotten about his role in the incident, Dabi just somehow forgets about the entire thing as soon as the first war is over. Toga is the one whom the narrative allows to actively react to Twice's death and express her grief. it makes sense that her reaction would be the strongest, as she was the closest with Twice, but why are two LOV members no longer allowed to care about the same incident at the same time? why aren't they allowed to protect each other anymore, when Giran, who is not even in the League, had made that sacrifice for them?

These are pretty small things, but it's these instances of Toga and Dabi preventing Machia from being injected with the sedative, protecting the League that are sorely missing in the second war.

and the biggest act of devotion and protection to the League, which was the last time we saw anything like this for them, Mister Compress' last moments with the League.

Mutilating his own body just to buy them five seconds to possibly escape. Because he loved the League, because he wanted all of them to be happy and achieve their dreams, to be free, and to live.

and in return for the favour, not only do they not come back for him like they did for Kurogiri (because his quirk is important for the plot, while Compress' isn't), but none of them mention Compress ever again. same with Twice (with the exception of Toga), same with Magne. from this point onwards, none of them are allowed by the plot to even care about the League of Villains. the interpersonal relationships between two individuals still shine through, occasionally, like Spinner's devotion to Shigaraki (and him alone), Dabi and Toga's pyromaniac trauma lane visit to her house and him giving her Twice's blood, Kurogiri reaching out to Shigaraki in the very end. but what about the League? ahd what about the dead members of the League, or Mister Compress?

somehow, at the point of the final war it boils down to the generalized conflict of heroes vs villains and the morality gymnastics involved in the concept. on its own, this would have been an okay development, if the examples the story was using to prove its point weren't people who had become very close friends and who had lost four people to this war against the heroes.

if the individual conflicts, like Toga's desperation to be acknowledged as human being deserving of affection, Dabi's familial abuse trauma and Shigaraki's lifelong manipulation by All for One not giving him any chance to be saved at all, were the finishing line of the villains' story development, why join them within the League at all? LOV is a separate concept functioning as a collective uniting all these villains, giving them a place to belong and people who give a fuck whether they live or die. except not anymore, because for some reason after the first war this concept is scratched completely.

so why not make them mere acquaintances who sometimes collaborate to bother the heroes together, if the bond between them got in the way of the story and wasn't the point of the story? why prove the depth of their bond with the Overhaul and My Villain Academia arcs? why make Shigaraki develop relationships and a sense of responsibility for these people at all, if in the very end his desire to save these people is denied by the author himself?

the previous arcs have spent a great deal of effort establishing that the villains are human too. they have human feelings, human desires and human relationships. so why is it that in the final arc their ability to experience human emotions towards each other is turned on and off manually by the author? at the very end even the author stops pretending like anything happening to the villains is evaluated on the scale of human experiences (unlike the heroes, whose injuries and deaths are talked about and mourned in great detail) and Kurogiri and Shigaraki are wiped out like plot inconveniences rather than important and well written characters.

honestly? it's ironically meta that the story ended up proving the very point it has spent 400 chapters arguing against.

I just wanted to say I think your art style is awesome! I was wondering if you had any tutorials on how you draw anatomy in your style (hips and legs especially)? Sorry if there's already one posted and I just didn't see it 🥲. Happy New Year :>

thanks for the kind words. i tend to draw people pretty stylized and then some so a good bit of artistic licence gets used. these tips are just what i use so feel free to take them with a grain of salt. with anatomy in particular you can kind of talk in circles because human/animal bodies are that complex so ill just zone in on the points you specified. here's a little image with a bunch of pointers:

the above image condenses a lot of the points I'd make, but basically the key parts are to start with the bare essentials and build up that complexity. using a line of action is a good way to get a quick, rough start. you draw a line out in the general direction of the pose and do your best to adhere to it to give the pose a sense of flow.

you can also draw smaller, thumbnail versions that throw a lot of caution to the wind but capture the basic energy of what you're going for. even having a tiny little stick figure version of your idea can make for a good guideline of where to take it forward.

when it comes to actual limbs, you wanna consider how they integrate and work together, kind of like how chains do. you can see on some of the parts of pear i've drawn out these wireframes to kind of portray how the mass of her legs works in a three dimensional space. for aspects like the waist/hips, i use that X technique i highlight above a lot, particularly for the lower torso. a lot of the times, even when drawing a character totally naked, imagining them wearing things like skintight underwear can help a lot to guide you in the right direction.

its also a good idea to consider things like gravity and weight to a degree. humans are essentially big meat sacks and gravity is always pulling down on that, but theres all kinds of aspects that effect that, such as character build or clothing. pear technically isn't naked in this, but i've tried to imagine her as such and take that into account.

if you are drawing digitally, don't be afraid to take advantage of the convenience you get with that workflow. you can retry and iterate on things a lot faster that pen and paper, and do things that aren't really feasible at all when it comes to editing and modifying your existing work. things like resizing certain bodyparts, instantly flipping the canvas, or using selection tools to completely adjust the positions of parts of your drawing. to give you an example heres a timelapse with all the little edits i made just to this demo drawing:

you don't have to use these techniques linearly, either. sometimes ill have a really solid idea for a piece in my head, and go back to basics with certain elements if they’re not coming out right or i just want to brush them up a bit more. some of the tutorial-y parts i added in i didn't actually use during the drawing but often do use so they're there just for demonstration. not every drawing i do starts as building blocks or a really basic version, often ill just start with a face and build it out from there.

i always encourage liberally using references (this can include yourself) and trying out stuff like life drawing or looking at things like existing photographs of real people/places/things if you can, the more you use learning material the better you'll draw up a mental inventory in your head that you can rely on more and more. some of these tips are things i've learned from other artists over the years (the chin one especially i remember seeing a tutorial about lol), so this is a lot of knowledge i've amassed from other sources over time myself. there are plenty of times ill use all sorts of reference material and its all in service of arriving at the final destination as smoothly as possible. learn by doing, as they say. hope this helps!

For OFMD Tumblr friends who want a S3 and are scared of Twitter

First, no judgment from me. I very much get it. I resisted Twitter for a long time, and even though I'm now a bit more comfortable on it, it's still not my Fandom Home. There are a TON of valid reasons not to be on Twitter, but if you REALLY want to keep OFMD visible right now and help its chances of returning for a third season, Twitter is the best place to do it. Like it or not, Twitter is still the best social media platform for raising awareness and for instant news updates.

Tumblr posts don't make headlines. Topics that have been trending on Twitter do. And if we want this show to come back, we need to make OFMD impossible to ignore.

By now you've probably seen just how close we came to a S3, and if you're like me, you are RAGING and donning your battle jacket. But I get it can be intimidating to get on Twitter for the first time, so I thought I'd address some common anxieties I see. I'll put below a cut because this got a bit long, but I promise it's a quick read.

I don't know what to say! Where do I even start? That's okay! You don't have to create your own tweets (although it's great if you do). Amplifying other people's posts is also important. Go ahead and like/retweet/reply to other people's posts. This may also help you get an idea of what you may like to say in your own tweets.

Hashtags...yes? Yes! Although don't use too many or you may get flagged as a bot. The biggest one that seems to be emerging is #SaveOFMD. Other popular ones are #RenewAsACrew, #RenewOurFlagMeansDeath, and of course, #OFMD and #OurFlagMeansDeath.

Should I just be tagging all the streaming services? Per @renewasacrew, no. It's counterproductive. You'll want to tag one streamer at a time and be specific. Below is an example of a tweet I made the other day -- use specific reasons why that that particular streamer may benefit from picking up OFMD.

I'm scared. People are mean. Yeah, people are mean. But I will say the vibes over at OFMD Twitter are currently the best I've ever seen them. People seem to have united for the greater good and are being overwhelmingly positive and just trying to do whatever we can to save the show. (That said, again, I already had a pretty curated feed, and was very liberal with blocking users/terms I didn't want to see, but I've been able to spend so much more time in the For You tab than I ever have without being jump scared by something.)

But I don't know anyone there! Wouldn't I just be shouting into the void? Not if you use the hashtags! Fans are being really good about following those and engaging with the tweets. Plus, [Stede voice], I'm your friend. I'm xoxoemynn over there as well, I'll follow you back and engage with any of your posts that I see. Plus, what's been REALLY lovely to see is that SO many lurkers have come out of lurkerdom to support the efforts, and they are being welcomed with open arms, so you will not be alone. Again, I am telling you, vibes? Best I've ever seen them.

I can't get sucked into another social media platform, I don't have the time. The beauty here is you don't need to spend a lot of time. I've been on Twitter more in the past week than I have in the entire year I've had an account, and I'm still only on for maybe an hour total the entire day? I open the app, I check a couple accounts, I engage with a handful of posts, and I close the app. It takes all of five minutes. It's an extremely small lift that can have a very big impact.

My bet is on Zaslav expecting us to be upset, and that there may be a day or two of outrage, but then we'd move on. I'm sure right now he's trying to convince everyone that this is a fluke, and that it'll blow over soon. Don't let him win. Keep OFMD in the news. Be loud (but polite) and make Max and other streamers take note of what a passionate, loyal fan base this show has. Make their stocks continue to drop. Make it clear this is NOT just a fluke, it is NOT business as usual. It's a BIG fuck up with lasting consequences.

Twitter, for all its sins, is the best place to do this.

2016 is often considered the point when leftism managed to get itself into the mainstream and became more popular, but I honestly can't help but wonder, given the sheer descent into conspiracy theory and selfish cruelty of the current state, whether in hindsight it was actually leftism's step into decline.

I've been thinking about this a lot, sadly I'm getting the start of a Migraine, so the edges of my thoughts are all fuzzy so idk if I'll be able to do what I think justice, but lets try.

The human mind doesn't really like complexity, it'd a pattern recognition machine built to find food and stuff that thinks you're food in the African brush. So we like to find patterns and lump stuff together, its hardwired in.

so "Leftism" I do understand what you mean, but I think it covers a really wide area.

and I think in politics we like to assign ideological and policy logic to things to political movements, it has to be about a coherent and rational ideology and world view we think. But... I think, often times it's emotional as much as anything. Did people vote for JFK or Reagan so much for policy as they, personally in their person, seemed to be the antidote to what was wrong in the moment? JFK seemed young and energetic when compared to an elderly and ill President Eisenhower, Reagan had the claiming aging leading man energy to make everyone feel like it'd be okay, a movie cowboy to lead us against bad guys we didn't understand while nice guy Jimmy Carter seemed stuck.

So back to 2016, I think there was so real ideology to start. The Left of the Democratic Party felt empowered after 2006, the left of the party had been against the Iraq War from the jump and that turned into the organizing issue that pushed Republicans out of power in 2006. A San Fran liberal, founding member of the House Progressive Cause was the first woman Speaker (and in favor of gay marriage too). In 2008 the Left of the party for largely emotional reasons sided with Obama over Clinton, even though they largely overlapped on policy and where there were (minor) differences she was to his left.

so riding high from two back to back wins, having gotten a lot of progressives elected to the House and Senate (like Bernie Sanders) progressive Dems were pretty let down by the real results, the ACA got bogged down and their dearest wish list item, the public option, which Pelosi fought for so hard, failed to make it into the final bill, and then 2010, a blood bath. And understandably there's been some frustration with Obama for not living up to the hype and also failing to really focus on state level races, Democrats got tarred hard

BUT! there's also an emotional side, Occupy Wall Street. I remember at the time being interested in it, I was young and more radical, but soon I got really frustrated because they had no demands, I watched every night MSNBC which was very sympathetic, but no one could articulate what it is they wanted, past a vague idea of "punish" the guilty.

I think there's a lot of restless frustration, some of it grounded and based in reality some of it not, in this country and its only grown over time as well as a contempt for and a break down of any kind of respect for experts and norms any anything established.

SO! I think that emotion latched onto Bernie and the left of the Democratic Party. As someone who worked that election I can tell you, at first knocking doors in New Hampshire, I got the taste of the very start of the campaign. And people would say "oh I'm voting for Bernie now, but I'll vote for Hillary in the general" but soon it went from friendly, from "we're pushing her to the left" to something bitter and angry. I had Bernie supporters tell me 1990s Fox News conspiracy theories around the Clintons, I had a Bernie supporter (in the general election) follow two college girl volunteers for blocks back to our office to SCREAM at us all.

Bernie won the New Hampshire Primary pretty commandingly that year, and partly because he had a strong volunteer network. But in the general despite many efforts we could barely get any of his regular volunteers to come work with us against Trump. I remember one lady who showed up just once and looked RIP SHIT! to be there, I think she said that all the positive stuff we said about Clinton, at a canvass launch for Clinton, made her "sick" and "don't expect me to say anything nice about her!" and she was one of only a tiny number of Bernie people who showed up in the general so she was better than some.

I remember the only Bernie Volunteer we got to become a regular. He'd knocked doors for months in New Hampshire for Bernie, organized his own phone bank into Nevada for their primary, drove down to South Carolina and spent the week before their primary knocking. Clearly a true believer, and when he decided to volunteer with us they kicked him out of the Facebook group he started and stopped speaking to him. I'll always remember what he said, that around the Bernie office they used to say that "a Trump voter was just a Bernie voter who hasn't been educated yet"

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, there were real motivations of the progressives and the left of the party, real policy based frustrations, particularly around how health care worked out, and I think Bernie Sanders himself was running because of that and to express that. But it tapped into something else, something not really political and much more emotional, rage and bitterness and a need to punish, the same energizes Trump taps into. It made a permission to be nasty to people you don't like, particularly women, I won't repeat the things people said on the phones, horrible.

now in 2024, almost 10 years later, there's a lot more depression mixed in, Trump talks about America as a 3rd world country all the time, there's just a vibe of having given up, hopelessness. There's a genocide and everything is horrible and hopeless and give up and die.

I don't believe in giving up, I don't believe in bitterness, I'm not a sunny person in real life, but I believe the point of politics, the politics I'm a part of, is lifting people up. It might be corny and uncool, but I believe in America, not that we're prefect, no, we're not, but together we've done great things, we fought a world war and went to the moon, and we can do great things together still always if we believe in each other, build each other up, stop being so afraid and weak and sad. I want to be beat fascism again, I want to go to the moon again, I want to beat climate change, and finally finally make the promise that all men are created equal REAL, and I don't believe in hiding behind walls, and crying that we can't do it any more, fuck that shit.

i'm gonna say something that might upset some people but i also feel like i'm in a unique position to say it so..

i was raised in a pretty conservative christian household in rural america. and when it came time for me to register to vote in 2015, i did so as a republican. i voted in the primaries in 2016 very much in the hopes that trump would not become the republican candidate. but then he did. and when november came, i was torn. i didn't feel like my candidate represented the republican party as i had come to understand it growing up, but for the financial policies i had been taught to value and for the sake of pushing the government red after eight years of obama, i voted for trump.

and i regretted it almost immediately. (and i have never once voted red since)

the regret was a gut feeling. but it was also a result of how much i saw and learned in the aftermath of that election that i was blind to beforehand. stuff that i didn't even know i didn't know kind of thing. i was at a college in the south and involved in a church there and had a decent mix of voices around me, but where i learned the most? was here. on tumblr.

here's the thing. if i hadn't had access to the voices on here revealing aspects of life and politics i was previously unaware of? if i hadn't been presented with articles and statistics that my right-leaning family wouldn't have entertained? idk if i would have come to my senses as early as i did. and if, in fact, people knew what my vote had been and blocked me for it? if there had been posts going around telling me to go fuck myself and unfollow them.. it probably would have built back up the walls against liberal policies that i had been slowly tearing down since becoming more cognizant of the social and political sphere.

now i'm not saying anyone has a responsibility to teach anyone anything, or even to entertain interactions. i know that we're angry and hurt and we need to prioritize our safety and sanity. but. i do think, especially with how echochamber-y certain online spaces have become, that even just allowing the space for bridges to be built could prove invaluable moving forward.

again, i'm not saying that you need to remain friends or even keep up any relationship with people who voted for trump. and i'm not saying you don't have every right to block maga fanatics. what i'm saying is that there could very well be people (young people esp who may not fully understand the implications of their choice or why the left may hold more merit than they were brought up to believe) who are willing to listen and learn if given the opportunity. and leaving them to rot with the worst of them won't do anything but bolster the right and continue eroding the ever-widening canyon between us. a bleak prospect when you consider that we will have another election in four years and that the right will only become more extreme in that time.

ftr.. please feel free to ignore me if you need to. like i said, your safety and sanity takes precedent. it's just been such a common trend i've seen on both instagram and here and i can't help but think about how closing the door could mean trapping the people who have the potential to grow from the choice they made on election day with that vote and the people who have the potential to drag them further down.

What is this?:

This is a personal blog dedicated to unpalatable facets of myself--specifically my experience as a paraphile.

he’s a dominant by nature and taking charge in the bedroom, to torment or ravish you, is something that comes pretty naturally to him — though if you plead your case well enough and put up a good enough fight then he can be convinced to try out reversing your roles every once in a while… for science, of course

it’s that same willingness to switch things up every now and then that makes him more comfortable bottoming for you when you ask him to do so — most of the time he’s topping, and that’s what he prefers, but he doesn’t mind making the occasional exception for you

when it comes to sensation play his favourites are things like experimenting with temperatures (hot or cold water, heating and cooling specific toys before using them on you, etc.), and with textures (wrapping a material that’s new but that he knows you won’t expressly disapprove of around his hand before using it to pleasure you, tracing a feather along your thighs when he goes down on you, etc.) in order to observe your reactions and figure out exactly what you enjoy and why you enjoy it — partially for the sake of science itself, partially because he wants to be a good partner, but 100% done with you and you alone in mind

Beyond that lab in Wuhan, long before the COVID 19 virus crested the shores of the United States a pandemic had begun to infect the American populous.

In 1999 I was a sophomore in high school. I would skateboard to school, listening to NIN pretty hate machine or Ministry’s Filth Pig album on my Walkman, whatever rock, or metal album I had recorded to cassette. I Wore Jnco pipes halfway down my ass, and usually some mildly offensive tshirt. One could say I was a dirty stoner f*ck.

So holding true to my pothead principles, when 4/20 comes around, you’re ditching school and getting high.

As a Colorado native (although well before weed was legalized there) we take our cannabis holidays seriously. So following tradition, on April 20th, 1999 myself and a few of my dirtbag friends went over to a buddy’s house to blaze.

As blunts and joints, bongs and pipes were shared between friends, jokes and laughter drowned out the volume of the tv, rendering it basically background noise. I remember being perplexed to see the banner on tv stating that a shooting was taking place in a school in Littleton Colorado. Littleton was no more than 5 miles from the school district I attended.

Apparently Columbine High School was under attack. I didn’t have any friends there, but I did play against them in football (they beat us handedly). Despite the copious amounts of cannabis smoked, it was a sobering moment. To think, just a stones throw away, a couple kids, my age, had taken a school hostage and there were suspected victims.

Harris and Klebold would kill 15 people in that shooting, injuring many others. The contusions went beyond students and staff present that day. The entire state of Colorado, the United States, perhaps the civilized world hadn’t seen anything quite like it. Unbeknownst to all, this would only be the beginning.

Youth goes by so fast. One day your skateboarding to class, listening to your Walkman, the next you’re in your work truck barreling to a jobsite, taking in a favorite podcast.

The Columbine shooting was one that stuck in my memory, I can also recall one in Boulder Colorado at a grocery store. There’s the Parkland shooting that comes to mind and the horrific scene at Sandy Hook elementary. Otherwise there’s been so many it’s hard to keep track.

Unlike a large proportion of liberals such as myself, I have a predication for firearms. I don’t jerk off to them like maga. Nor am I delusional enough to think that I could make my stand against the United States military. It’s just that, if redneck Bob has an AR15, I want one too. If he has a bazooka, I want one too. Heck! If he had a tank, I want one too! You don’t bring a knife to a gunfight and you don’t exchange 556 rounds with a .22 or even 9mm.

Again, unlike like much of the left, I don’t think the source of these massacres are due to the gun soaked culture America condones. Although access may make it easier, the cause is not the gun, it’s the person holding it.

I have a significant amount of firearms and not once have I thought to myself, ‘Hey! Why not go slaughter a bunch of unsuspecting innocent people?”. There are numerous reasons for this, and even not being the stablest of stable individuals, I don’t suffer from homicidal ideation. That, and I’m not a psychopath.

There has never been a moment of rage, a despair so low, a lapse of reason to where murdering civilians in mass was given space as an option. Alas, to far too many it has.

I often can put myself in someone’s position. Not empathetic, but see a situation through the eyes of someone. Feel the fear or anger, the desperation or righteousness, can see the frustration and feeling of abandonment.

To get to a point where a mass shooting is appealing, appropriate, or justified, is a mental arrangement based on confusion, revenge, spite, or indignation, extreme sadness.

A healthy individual would process these emotions, internalize and rationalize them, coming to the conclusion that this act is wrong. Find and isolate the trauma or root cause that would raise such hostilities from themselves. A healthy individual would certainly not act upon such inclinations. A healthy person would reach out for help to resolve the growing conflict festering in their minds from friends, or either a mental health professional.

Regardless what part of this country you reside in, rural, urban, upscale or skid row, we have all seen some fellow citizens struggling with mental health. This could be as obvious as someone with schizophrenia screaming to a void of humanity. This could take shape in the loneliness epidemic that is affecting our aging male (and female) population. This can manifest through aggression and crime.

America psyche is not well. Addiction, loneliness, depression, anger, racism, despair and delusions of grandeur run rampant across it. From my perspective as a male citizen, we are taught to ignore these issues. To see it as sissy or lacking masculinity. To hide our pain that we carry with us from the world around us.

Women carry their own burdens, their own set of obligations and fears, body dismorphia and stress. Although it is more socially accepted to seek help and/or share troubles, it is not always apparent, nor does it hold any less relevance or suffering than the male experience.

Mental health is as important, if not more important to a persons overall health than physical health. Yet there seems to be a stigma around mental health. The notion that it serves either as a luxury for over privileged snowflakes with first world problems, or that therapy shows a lack of personal strength, or as if seeking it is to confess your insanity.

None of these cases resemble factuality.

As individual beings we all have a story, we’ve all lived a life. What one considers commonplace, the other may see as absurd, what hurts one may have no affect to another.

Trauma is real. Trauma is not only that which may have happened to you, but also that which did not. As children we are vulnerable and dependent, malleable yet fragile, able to adapt and protect ourselves without our knowledge.

In this we build traits we may not even be aware of, coping mechanisms installed long ago as a way of dealing with the uncertainty and emotions we but just began to cultivate. Our child mind will forever impact our adult self, forging and shaping who we are today, and unbeknownst to ourselves we harbor defense mechanisms and coping skills we were unaware existed.

Recent studies suggest that biologically our minds can’t keep pace with the technological and social advances in the present. In terms of biological and human existence, the last 200 years have transformed the way in which we survive, life itself.

It wasn’t that long ago where the only means of mass transportation was ships. It wasn’t that long ago where the only means for long distance communication was parchment carried by a messenger on foot or horseback. It wasn’t long ago the only means for food was hunting with spear or bows. It wasn’t long ago humanity wasn’t much more than nomadic tribes bartering goods. Heck! It was less than 250 ago colonists with black powder muskets fought off the Red Coats to enshrine this nation with liberty.

Needless to say, in an evolutionary standpoint the human mind was not developed to process the information and societal systems that our world has become.

Anxiety is a survival skill, pumping adrenaline and heightening senses in the cause of self preservation. All mammals, as well as other species, have this instinctual protective feature in which to stay alive, to avoid becoming a predators next meal.

As humans our rise to the pinnacle of apex predator has outpaced our instincts for survival. To the point where now we don’t worry about becoming a snack for a beast of equivalent predatory capabilities, but that instinct to survive, that internal fear of avoiding one’s demise, is very much embedded into our subconscious.

This has led to increased hyper vigilance and stress conducting itself in ways that don’t suit our status on the food chain. Rather than worrying about becoming food, we worry about obtaining food. Rather than worrying about fighting off a larger species, we worry about competing with our social standing within our species. Our basic instincts are very much apart of our human brain, yet aren’t up to date with the rate in which our advances have emanated through our experience

Now this once imperative and essential survival skill is no longer relevant in the way in which we live, yet very much ingrained in our thoughts. Stress and anxiety is just our minds trying to keep us safe in a world where it is unnecessary for it to do so.

I am not a mental health expert, nor am I a scientist, I’m just some idiot with a phone and apparently expendable time in hopes to communicate my thoughts with others.

What I’m trying to pass along is your mental health is important to your overall wellbeing. That these feelings of anxiety, stress and depression are natural and just basic survival mechanisms adapting to the vastly different environment we live in today than what we did less than a millennium ago. That you are not alone in your experiences and difficulties navigating this life.

It does not show weakness to ask for help, to open up to a friend or confidant about how and what you’re feeling, your struggles, your thoughts. Don’t allow these things to consume you, to overrule your better judgment.

The actions that these mass shooters have engaged in, even actions such as suicide, are permanent solutions to temporary problems. If you’re experiencing difficulties realize you’re not alone, that this too shall pass, that it won’t always be dark. Life isn’t easy, and if someone told you it would be they were pulling your chain. That doesn’t ease the burden of being human but hopefully can console you in the idea that we all go through this, that pain is natural, that there are no problems where there isn’t a solution.

Take care of yourself. Reach out if needed. Understand your wellbeing overall is greatly impacted by taking care of the mind as much as the body. That we are all in this together and we all are doing the best we can.
