Lion Guard Finale Praise + Rant

There is a lot I hate about The Lion Guard's final episode but the one thing that will always hold a special place in my heart is the return montage:

You can't tell in screenshots, but in the background, the LG chorus sings a reprise of the Departure Theme from the premiere episode, with this montage being a book-end to the goodbyes that the Guard said to their friends and families in that episode.

It's really sweet and powerful because it's a beautiful example of "Show, don't tell" (a rule which this show, particularly in Season 3, and the LK sequels in general are not the best at following). We see what the Lion Guard had left behind when they went on their journey to the Tree of Life, how much they had missed their home and how glad they are to be back and how that feeling was reciporicated by their friends and families.

Keep in mind that earlier that morning they were under the belief that Zira invaded the Pride Lands and had possibly killed the royal family and subjugated the Pride Lands' non-lion subjects if not giving them a same gruesome fate (since Kion knows that Zira is a lion supremacist, god-forbid what would happen if she ever got near Mtoto, Thurston, or Ajabu), and on the Pride Landers' end, the Lion Guard had been gone for such a long time with no one having any way of knowing they'd return or if they died. So this reunion was likely also a huge relief for everyone in the Pride Lands, especially Simba, Basi, and Timon and Pumbaa (who no doubt would've been scared shitless at the idea that their kid could be missing forever or dead and have no way to confirm or deny that possibility). It's just all around amazing to see. When watching the episode for the first time when it came out I thought something was wrong with my computer because despite there being 14 minutes left, I wholeheartedly thought the series was going to end there....

...which is why I'm very mad that it didn't and forever disappointed at the route they went with for the actual ending.

In the span of less than a full day since the Lion Guard returned from the Tree of Life, all of them instantly want to head back there on a whim after losing the Lion Guard contest, which would wind up in them completely uprooting their lives and leaving their home and families again for the sake of this one kingdom that we've only seen for seven to eight out of 74 episodes plus a TV movie! The reunion showed us that the Guard was strongly attached to their home and families, but now the ending forces us to ignore that to logistify the Guard willingly going to the Tree of Life without any on-screen goodbyes or send-offs. No scene of doubt, no goodbye songs, no parting ways between characters, nothing, it just jump cuts from "Hey, let's go back to the Tree of Life even though we've only been back here for a day" straight to them at the Tree of Life for Kion and Rani's wedding. Isn't the episode's title supposed to be "Return to the Pride Lands?" Yet the "return" plot stops mattering after the first 11 minutes.

The whole Guard leaving with Kion doesn't even make sense: Bunga has Timon and Pumbaa at Hakuna Matata Falls, Beshte has to co-lead the hippo pod with his father, Ono has his flock and possibly even Ona (you could argue that he would want to return to the Tree of Life because they healed him, but that's not the reason they went with - Also the poor dude lost his Mark of the Guard twice, the first being after he lost his eyesight to protect the Pride Lands from Scar, like, what the fuck?), Fuli had been the most admant about returning to the Pride Lands, and Anga showed no interest in staying at the Tree of Life and seemed perfectly ok in the Pride Lands.

Even back in the days where people were theorizing what would happen to the Lion Guard that caused them to be absent in TLK 2, I never saw reason for the whole Guard to leave if Kion ever left, and even then, I never expected any departure to be permanent because it would go against their whole life-style. It feels like they only had them leave like this for the sake of some "twist" that didn't need to be there. And even if they were going to go with this route, they could've had the Guard separate, with some staying and some going to at least make sense.

Much like Makini, Season 3 ignores crucial story elements of the main characters from the first two seasons to both justify their "plot-twist" by the end and to wrap up any “plot-holes” with the Lion King 2 and forces the audience to suspend an inappropriate amount of their disbelief. So while I like the reunion in the final episode and whilst my love for the show remains un-matched, knowing how it all ends and that (according to some writers) it was planned from the start to end like this makes me feel cheated in a way. One of the most disappointing endings I've seen from a show which I've been willing to follow from start to finish and this is coming from someone who's watched both Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Bunk'd.

Honestly admit I've always believed in the strange and weird so the idea of the Doctor and the Master and all of that to being honestly real, yeah I believe. I mean have you seen the thing about the NASA telescope getting the picture of the question mark up in space. I bet the Doctor did that on purpose.

I mean like the idea of Time Lords and the Doctor and all of that being a real thing isn't too far fetched for me. I mean for the longest time I believe transformers were real and hey they could still be out there we don't know, we can barely make it past our own solar system when it comes to exploring space. Lol

Glad you don't think of me as crazy or having screws loose in my brain then, haha. NO, I haven't seen that but you're welcome to send me a picture here in messages if you want send a picture of that question mark up in space, i haven't seen that yet. I could see the Doctor doing that though, on purpose to pull some silly shenanigans. Love that word, shenanigans.

It isn't too far fetched to me either, not when i have seen and heard so much but especially experienced so much to believe otherwise and i always try and think logically first, if anything logical and realistic could make the strange or weird seeming thing and what else am i supposed to think or believe if the logical doesn't add up to make the weird thing happen? Away from logical, the weird and strange come into question.

I mean who knows if transformers are real, you know? You never know and don't get me wrong, i agree with anyone on how of if this was real or if that was real, we would know because any of this stuff would happen. I get any person's point of view who thinks like that but not everything is always what it seems. That is why strange, weird, unknown, and unexplainable things happen and even exist because it's nothing that can be logically explained away because when you try, it doesn't add up or make sense.

Plus when you consider the fact that not everything on our own planet has even been fully explored and discovered yet, especially OUR OWN DAMN OCEANS that apparently people have had conspiracy theories was stopped being explored and now looking for space 'as if Nasa wants to try and get us off the planet* and obviously most of space has not even been discovered yet, no one can say with absolutely positivity that something is or is not real BECAUSE WE DONT KNOW, it could be or it could not be but because you don't know, you can't assume it's not. Things can be hidden, kept secret, and private with the deliberate intention so that people don't know, lol. So whose to say that Gallifrey is not real? or The Doctor, Master, Rani, Romana, the Corsair, Rassilon, Daleks, Torchwood, UNIT, Jack Harkness, River Song, and etc everything else from Doctor Who, Torchwood, and other shows, movies, supernatural, paranormal, aliens, etc.?

ALSO ALSO? I kept seeing around that according to scientists or researchers, that the Tardis could somehow be possible? Plus, the quote of "We are either alone in this universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying'** is obviously true and i agree with it. You honestly expect me to believe that Earth and it's humans are the only living beings, aside from animals, that exist in all of creation, on the only life habitable planet ever? Bullshit.

This blog is mainly for the believe that anything doctor who and torchwood, etc. can be real but it can also be for if anything is real too: supernatural, paranormal, mythological creatures and beings, etc. the paranormal, ufos, aliens, conspiracies, conspiracy theories, other 'shows' and 'movies' being real.

So when it comes to proof or experiences as far as personal or what's happened for other people through hearing and seeing, whether experiencing themselves or not, proof they can catch that seems like it couldn't be faked through pictures and videos, Don't hesitate to send them my way.

Just because i haven't posted in awhile and even if i don't post in awhile, I am STILL here actively. When i am not busy doing anything in my personal life, i am dedicating myself to these beliefs as far as keeping an ear and eye out, researching, investigating, trying to contact, looking for proof, logging my own experiences, and answering any asks i hopefully get. A while ago I had made up a Zak for each day of the week to match Zak Saturday and Monday for fun, and because I wanted to give Zak some more AU similar to how Ben gets a lot of them. So not only do they all have different last names, but each have their own backstories and colour theming! So I hope you enjoy my little AU concepts.

-Zak Saturday-

Classic original Zak. I decided to draw them all when they're 11, start of the series vibes. So that's why he doesn't look like the ways I normally draw him currently, since those are when he's 14. Nothing different with his design here, beyond still giving him those vivid orange eyes.

-Zak Sunday-

Also known as Zak Argost, having been taken in by the man after he had a certain encounter with Zak's parents, resulting in their deaths. When Argost found the young toddler, seeing the start of Zak's power, he was happy enough to take the child with him and use his powers to his benefit. Due to being taken when he was very young, Zak doesn't remember his parents at all, fully believing in anything Argost tells him, the only family he has. So he happily helps his guardian in keeping cryptids tamed during Weird World shows, or during trips to learn about them, even if Argost puts Zak in more danger than he should. Due to his appearances on Weird World, Zak is a celebrity of sorts, even if he doesn't get to go out often. Argost also gives him a lot of gifts, keeping the child in a positive mood to keep him under his thumb. So Zak truly believes that Argost cares about him.

Though things start to turn when Argost finally decides it's time to hunt down Kur and take his powers, hiring Van Rook and Doyle on the mission. This leads to Zak and Doyle getting to know each other, with Doyle feeling protective over this random kid for some reason. Eventually this leads to him taking Zak away when this whole Kur business gets out of hand. While Doyle can't seem to convince Zak that Argost doesn't care about him, the pair do at least agree to try and find Kur first, Zak worried that even Argost shouldn't handle such powers. However, only time will tell if the pair discover the truth behind their unknown family history.

-Zak Monday-

The good old twisted gremlin of a child, Zak Monday and his family were a result of the smoke mirror. They come from a world that twists the very nature of people, a poor reflection of their negative aspects. If you're naive, then your mirror self is incredible dumb. If you're a bit of a perfectionist, then your mirror self is a control freak. And Zak Monday represents the twisted doubts of Zak feeling like a monster, so why have any doubts when you can be the monster?

I decided to change Zak Monday a bit to have the green eyes and green shirt with his own logo, cause I liked the idea that after his first appearance, they switch back to what they're suppose to look like. But other than that I kept the concept of him looking just like Zak, minus the inverted hair colour.

-Zak Tuesday-

The young naga is the son of Rani Nagi. Born solely to have Kur's soul enter and be a host, but whoops! Looks like Kur's memories aren't there, but that wasn't going to stop Rani Nagi, who thinks if she keeps at her plans, eventually her son will become the old cryptid king she once knew. Even going as far as to solely call her child Kur, who secretly calls himself Zak due to him often watching humans in the shadow, curious about them and wanting a name for himself. Zak Tuesday has a lot of identity issues, not helped by his mother's teachings towards him, ignoring all his dreams and personal thoughts. Eventually he just got really good at lying rather than convincing Rani Nagi.

However, the young cryptid prince is suddenly kidnapped by Argost one day, as he figured out where Kur's soul was currently living. Zak knew he would have died that day if not for Drew and Doc recusing him, having been chasing Argost over this Kur situation. Though they're a little surprise that upon meeting the new Kur, they find it's just a young naga who really doesn't know who he is. At first Doc and Drew didn't know what to do with him, but Zak begged them to not send him back home, and let him stay at their place until he could figure things out. He wasn't foolish, he knew the nagas were planning a war, and he wasn't keen on being the face of it all. So now the Tuesdays just have a snake living around the house, but they can't exactly complain as he is a well mannered guest at least. And perhaps the house doesn't feel so lonely with him around either.

-Zak Wednesday-

Some of you might recognize this one, but this Zak is from my old Zur AU, where Kur was reborn via the Kur Stone due to it being an egg, and Zak is a dragon that shapes between human form and dragon form. I decided to update him, making him Zak Wednesday now, with a pink theme! I also decided that instead of Kur being reborn, I wanted to shake things up a bit and have it that Zak was directly Kur's son. His mother is unknown, and as Kur saw how the world was at the time, he put Zak's egg into a stasis situation until it was discovered again. After saving it from Argost, the egg hatched among the secret scientist, leading to them chasing the child of Kur. But upon using his shapeshifting abilities to look like a child of Drew and Doc, they just couldn't help but adopt him on the spot, siting there was no sense in blaming Kur's son over what happened years ago.

The growing dragon is very playful with a cheeky personality. He exhibits a lot of draconic behaviors, with a wild and free spirit. He is aware of his family history, but he doesn't like to think about it, unsure in how to view his father based on the stories he's heard. Besides, Doc and Drew are his parents, and that's all that matter to him. Though perhaps this sudden appearance by Argost, claiming he was going to far Zak's father, has been a bit rattling to deal with.

-Zak Thursday-

When Kur knew he was going to die, and also knew his soul wasn't able to live the mortal realm, he made plans to make it so his reborn self would both be born in hopefully a better time, and be without his memories. It was better that way, so that his new self could live a lovely life without the sins from his past. But that didn't exactly pan out properly, as Kur was reborn and sadly remembers everything. It took him a while to understand this growing up, his young human mind not processing it until he was roughly 7-8, and even then he needed time to think about it. And now he's a depressed 11 year old who now has to be stuck with the fact his plan didn't work, unable to run away from the person he once was. Doc and Drew found out the truth when Zak tried running away one day, their son sitting them down and telling them the truth in hopes they'd just leave him, it would be better that way. But to his surprise they disagreed, as he was still their son, Kur or Zak, and it would be too dangerous to leave him alone.

So now Zak lives with his parents? Are they really his parents? The family keeping this dark secret to themself, even from the other scientists. Doc and Drew still reach out to their son, doing their best to connect with him, but he can't help but push them away. He doesn't deserve this, and they deserve better. However, their secret might come out after Argost stole the Kur Stone and now hunts for Kur, not realizing the truth right in front of him. So now the family tries to get the stones back, wanting to protecting Zak/Kur from others finding out. Doesn't help that he has to go through being a child again with such dark memories lingering in his head, feeling tired and overwhelmed with the world. Hasn't he suffered enough?

-Zak Friday -

In a world where Kur and cryptids successfully wiped out humans, the king ruled the lands for a while after, before one day he mysteriously vanished. Many concluded that he had died somehow, the details unknown, but this lead to a prophecy that one day their king would return, leading to many claiming to be him, or praying that they will be him for the power and wealth. In this universe, Zak and his family are all cryptids, with Zak being a a Chuvash Dragon, Drew and Doyle are Epimeliads, and Doc is a Gargoyle (Other characters are also cryptids in this timeline). Zak is a serpent like dragon that breathes fire, as a very twistable body, and can freely shapeshift. He's heard about the legend of Kur returning, but frankly he thinks they don't need him, even if the cryptid world has been shattered without a king for years now.

But when a yeti named Argost claims that Kur is back, being backed up by the Nagas, everyone starts to gossip and run around trying to figure out who the new Kur is. So maybe it's best that Zak doesn't tell the whole world about his sudden new powers to control and communicate any fellow cryptid is walks by.

TLK: Mothers and Fathers

"You are pregnant?!" Kion exclaimed, scaring a few zebras that were eating nearby.

Kiara left a soft chuckle. "Wow, not even Kovu reacted THAT badly".

"When? How?" Kion still couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Kiara raised an eyebrow. "Do you REALLY want me to answer those questions?"

Since Kion didn't reply back, she continued. "Yes, Rafiki confirmed it to us after the coronation ceremony. We still don't want to tell the Pride yet because Kovu and I are still nervous about this. But I wanted you to know first, since you are my brother."

Said brother was still utterly silent. Kiara started to get worried.

"Kion? Lil' bro? Are you ok?"

Still no answer.

"Kion!" Kiara roared, and that seemed to get the red mane lion out of his stupor.

"W-wha-"

"What's gotten into you? Do you think I'm going to be a bad mother or something?"

"No, Kiara, wait-"

"That I'm not brave, or smart or strong enough to get through this? Because let me tell you, I'm not here for you to doubt my skills as a mother even though I'm super scared and I don't know how to not be like Dad or-"

"When did we get so old?"

That stopped Kiara's rambling.

"Excuse me?"

"When..." Kion licked his muzzle, "when did we stop being cubs. You... you are going to be a mother. You are Queen now, you have a duty and you are fullfiling it!"

"Kion..."

"Meanwhile, Rani and I are still playing around! The Night Pride is getting older and we...I am not doing anything as a King to help with the matter. I'm just patrolling and sleeping and fighting tresspasers because I don't know what else to do!"

"You want to have cubs for duty?"

"YES! NO!" Kion was shaking and he started to rub his scar. "That's what Kings should do, right? That's what I'm supposed to do, right? Continue The Circle of Life, give The Tree a heir... even...even if..."

Tears dropped out of the lion's eyes, the shakes getting harder. Kiara reached and hugged her brother and he nuzzled into her golden fur. 

For a moment, the savannah was filled with a lion's silent cry.

"I don't even know if Rani wants to have cubs with me..."

Kiara sighed and hugged Kion even harder. "Have you talked to her?"

"How do you even start a talk like that?"

She shrugged. "I don't know, you just... try. Or else you are just going to keep walking around the theme and it's not going to be good not for you nor Rani." Kion sucked in a breath. "But this is a conversation you need to have when you are ready and not because your older sister is doing it, ok? My decisions are not your decisions. You are your own lion, Kion. And the path you take is up to you, nor because of a stupid rule about 'filling your duty'. Do you understand?"

He nodded.

"I don't heaaaaaar youuuuuuuuu".

"Fine, fine!" Kion chuckled. "Yes, Queen Kiara!" 

 "Shut up, you rhinohead".

The silence this time was a welcomed one.

"Kiara?"

"Yes?"

"You do know you are very brave and smart, right? You are the best Queen The Pridelands could ever have."

The lioness smiled fondly.

"Thank you.".

"That's what siblings are for, sis."
