I call them by their name majority of the time, but I also picked up a habit (from gods know where) where I call all my immediate family by the familial title. I will start phone calls with my sister by yelling “sister!!!!” And she’ll respond the same. When I help my bro with my niblings and I also call say “no problem brother!”

This also extends to my mom and dad who I usually call by the shorted versions but it’s very common for me to greet my dad by shouting “father!!!” And he’ll respond “daughter!” My mom is the only one I see regularly who does not get this treatment regularly from me.

Even if you don't call them that all the time. I never do but I feel like I see it in fiction a lot?

I saw somebody say that watching the Percy Jackson show made them realize that in the first books Percy doesn't even say half the stuff he thinks and he's just a quiet kid silently judging everyone, like they're so right.

Think about it from Grover's perspective. You know Percy as a quiet boy who certainly has his judgy thoughts but (aside from telling them to you) keeps them to himself. He's just trying to make it through school, for his mom.
