guys ok since im never gonna finisj my rebellion essay im nust gonna ramble here and pray its coherent. wish me luck
first point im gonna start crying ab the plot im yonn ro it in chronological order if u wanna skip2go rrad my thoiguts oknthe movie and transformati9ns n details n dtuff
so homura after madoka becomes god is like overcome with despair n is talking 2kyubey ab madoka kaname(the law of cycles) and the incubators traps her b4 her soul gem turns and homura in this weird limbo state beyween magical girl and witch makes a labyrinth of ALL OF FUCLING MITAKIHARA CITY and invites all of the holy quintet in unknowingly cuz her memories are reset and tjeyre magical girls and theyre fightinh nightmares and BEBE???? AND BROS LIKE DANXING AROUND EVERYWJERE AND "late nights are the enemy of beauty"I LOVE MAMI AND BEBES DYNAMIC anyways after some quality time (haha "this feels like sometjing ive been wanting for a lonh time") homuras like "haha wait a minute!" and so she goes 2 kyoko whos from tje next town over originally n is like "hey shawtay do u know whats going 9n" n shes like "no lets go out of town and oh my gosh the town i am from is not real shawtay" n then tells homura that shes better actin all tough n then homuras confused and is like "wait so i remember BEBE being a little WITCH BITCH so lets stop time" N THEN THE FUCKING FIGJT ENSUES MAMI FINDS HER N SHOOTS AND HOMURA SHOOTS N TIME IS STOPPED N EVRY BULLET IS AIMED PERFECTLY TO SHOOT AANOTHERAND MAMI IS COMFUSED AB IT ANDTHERES NOWJERE LEFT FOR THEM 2 GO AND HOMURA REPLAYS TIME AND ALL THE BULLETS SHOOT AND THE SOUNDTRACK WHIPS im honna learn it onthe cello N HOMURA SHOOTS HERSELF?????? BUT SHE DOESNT????I NEVER QUITE GOT WHAT JAPPENED BUT SHE STOPS TIME AND TJEN SHOOTS MAMIS LEG N SHE UNRAVELLS AND IS RIBBONS NHOMURAS CAUGJT N MAMI DOESNT UNDERSTAND WHT SHES SAYING AB THIS WORLD BUT MAMI REMEMBERS WHAT WRAITHS ARE AND HOMURAS LIKE "NOOOOOOOOOO" AND SHE RUNS SO SPEEDY (sayaka is carryinh her) CUZ NAGISA MOMOE(BEBE) & SAYAKA MIKI SAVE HER omg sayaka diaolog and homuras likro"omg u remember??????" n nudges homura along 2 think ab it n realizes that 3 people dont belonh here n "would you be okay destroyinh this version of mitakihara city?" n homura monolog cuz shes gay BUT THEN MADOKA JUMPS OFF A FUCKING BRIDGE FOR HOMURA WHOS ON A BOAT n they go back 2 that garden n kyubeys there n did i mention tjat kyubey only says "kyu"for now n homura has this talk w madoka tjat i will takk aboit later bc its such a turning point in the story i swear its at least a mini climsx on the plit mountain & its so gay faggot nstion rise up n syand for the anthem(pmmm ost) n homura leaves madoka worried and kyoko gets a call from homura "this is like some kind of bad joke....for real...."
(para break 4 the climax) and hmura realizes shes a WITCJ and tests this via her soul gem and why does her pjone fucking glide like a leaf n yeah she knows shes the witch nowni will talk ab this sequence later as well cuz the imagery is beautifully executed n kyubey starts to talk as the labyrinth kinda collapses n homura realizes that the incubators did this to her n kyubey hss tjis whole speech nants homura ti call for madoka and homura realises that kyubey wants 2 control madoka bc b4 now tje law of cycles was a hypothesis n homura keeps squishing kyubey n it doednt understand why shes mad n shes mad bc she wants meguca to be safe n she wants 2 die in the isoñation dield and omg the homura witch brcoming scene and the rest of the quintet come to ssve her in such a cool battle scene and PARMASEAN A REGGIANO and omg the sayaka silhouette reference and sayaka and nagisa are madokas secretaries and kyoko x sayaka omg i love tjem and they save homura to her own dismay and you csn hear in her voice what shes going to do and mami & kyoko witness the law of cycles and madokami/ultimate madoka saves homura but then homura RIPS MADOKA FROM THE HEAVEN. HER SOUL GEM IS TAINTED BY LOVE. MORE PSSSIONSTE TJAN HOPE, MUCH DEEPER THAN DESPAIR - LOVE. OH NY GODDDD SHE BRCOMES THE DEVIL AND USED THE INCUBATORS TO RID THE WORLD OF THE WRAITHS ANF SSYAKAS PISSED AT HER N DOESNT KNOW WJY N I OVE THIS INTERACTION anyways madoka kaname comes to mitakihara as a transfer from the us and homura shows her around campus and madoka starts to remember tjat she isnt human but homura stops her n is like "do you treasure tje world you live in or would u break its rules 2 follow ur heart" n madokas like "ummm dont break rules" n "oh i suppose one day u will be my enemy" n its sad n madoka ribbion n the movie ends
so ny immediate thoughts are always "WHAT THE FUCKKKK"ok so i adore this movie so do mucj tbis is fuclinh genius n evrt im e i watch ot i realize smth new and homuras despair is so felt througj the entire thing and nothing compsres to how fuckinh well written her arc is and i love love love love love love how her love is portrayed n u realize that she doesnt love herself and neither does madoka and i tjink its just fonna be a loop of them circlinh sround eachother until they say it rireftly bc theyre god and devil and catholic stuff homuras catholic bc its weird bc god and devil r kinda working towards the ssme goal in a weird way thats never really broigjt up n this is reflextes in rebellion they both want a happy world but tjat world csnt exist bc 1. their visions clash (a world qherw madoka can be happt vs a world where every1 else except r madoka can be happy) n 2. until they both love tjemselves enough to sustain eitjout the other at least neither will be happy cuz how can u love someone else when theres no love within kr left 4 urself and homura doesnt seem keen on letting madoka go and madoka doesnt seem to want to be here due 2 her belief that she gets in the way and ywaj iys just a giant cycle and i think that homura did do the rigjt tjinh bc otherwise the incubators wouldve probably tried to control madoka and it was tje only way 2 potecy jer & she didnt rlly destroy the law of cycles she only riped away the madoka part n imo its unclear if magical girls still exist i tjink tje wraiths e gonns hsve 2 be extinguidhed by tje incubators themselves AND WHAT EVENNARE WRAITHS BTW. i need2watch magia record anyways i also love every single sayaka interaction bc she cherishes homura obv but also believes tjat madoka should stay the same as tje llaw of cycles and i domt think sayaka wil end up being homuras enemy bc in the same way the end form of magical girls is a witch, a creature of despair, the end form of a human, for all humans do love sometjing even if it is small, the final form is a godly entity of some sort: a creature born of the chaos that is love ykwim? n in the ssme way sayaka sympathizes with witches i think she will cmr to realize where homura is cominh from and her and tje rest of the quintet will act as sort of a middle ground once they realize whats happening amd i think thats where this is going bc this series is a masterpieve and no nasterpiece exists witjout msking u sob over philosophy
ok so i wanna just talk ab the madohomu garden scene bc its literally so important. madokas love is rly portrayed here so well bc its clear that homuras fucking lovesick but like madoka is also so gay. like. howd they name tje last episode of the series "my very best friend". snyways we see madoka exhibit healthy communication behaviors (ifu want u can always talk 2 me im here 4 u i migjt not be able 2 help but its better than dealing witj it alone) n u can see how badly dhe wants to help homura n tjen tjeshot wjere u csn see the wjole garden n both of thrm n the cityscape ⬇️
shows them as equals (foreshadowin?) esp cuz weve almost always seen homura viewinh madoka as infinitely above her esp considerinh the god stuff but rn they can be human and full of flaws n juzt overall equal rn and tjats beautiful fr. anyways hmura had a "dream" (the plot of the series) n madoka hears about how lonelyn sad n scared homura felt n how she felt that she was lying 2 herself for so long and homura runs down the hill and collapses, placing her below madoka kaname once more. madoka places tjem at the same level again, but fails to see how real this "dream" was. madoka as she is now thinks that this is just a dream, just something fabricated by homura - as homura thinks madoka was for so long. and madoka says tjat she could never do that - not to homura, someone whos so strong and capable, she could never make her cry snd could never leave her friends behind. and homura can tell tjisisnt true because to her it was real, to her it happened in real time right before her eyes after 12 years worth of tryinh to save madoka over and over and over. "you know how wimpy i am, and because i could never do something that would make someone as strong as you cry like this." n in the dub madokas like "it would bresk my heart" but in the sub homura says "then for you, thats something that hurts you so much you couldnt bear it?" and madoka agrees and homura fails to see that madoka kaname, without her memories, doesnt grasp the realness of it and solidifies the idea in homuras mind that the real madoka would never willingly leave her behind, regardless of the circumstances.
and the moonlight shines over tjem like a spotlight and homuras reality has been shattered. madoka doesnt realize tje weight of her statement and homura in this moment knows that she is the witch. and shes put the only person shes ever cared about in jeapordy. and it cuts to different scenes of them talking, before homura eventually has the information settled in- like this was the last piece needed to set in place tje rest of the story yk? and dsrkness spreads over the flowers, and she begins to blame herself - how could she let the most amazing person leave? how could she fuck up that badly by letting her escape? and homura tells her that, no matter what, madoka kaname is capable of making "yhat hard decision" andthe flower petals fall and the core-thingies glow and rise dandelion style and leave the field empty, showing that nothing else matters to homura and madoka is confused af! cuz she doesnt remember and homura knows deep down that shes holding the real madoka and you van hear the bliss in her voice and her expressions and its so goddamn powerful. but she has to go now, has to confirm her suspicions. and i honestky think that this scene is felt throighout the rest of the movie and this scene is where homura realizes that if she is the witch she has to die here so that she doesnt do yk what she does do to ultimate madoka bc clearly she understands that its wrong logically but also after knowing that the incubators want to control madoka that seems like its the best thing she could do to protect her yk? anyways i love this scene this is my favorite scene in the whole franchise fight me.
n now last thing i PROMISE i wanna talk ab homuras witch transformation starting at thetrain I LOVE THE OWL IMAGERY SO SO MUCH ABOVE THE CLOVKS N SHIT cuz owls symbolize like transformation which is literalky what we r watching happen from magical girl in2 witch n the bus lights on fire n the chanting begins and th world destroys itself becoming a fiekd of chaos and hands taint her soul gem and she shoots it and shes in shock and um cut to her labyrinth cuz HOLY FUCKKKKK the littke guards to show shes like protecting madoka n i LOVE the color scheme of the weird curse things n the broken gkass n the gears n oj my god does it take place in a COLOSSEUM??? and HELLO THE DRIPPY BLOOD THING ABOLISHING THE FUCKING PRAISING ARM HOMURAS and the skull tjinhg af oh my god i love 5his so much n the blood pool stuff i couod keep goijg 4ever i lobe the homulily nutcracker labyrinth n the nutcracker part is brilliat cuz shes "protecting" from the incubators n idk thats my thoighrs 4more organized stuff go here https://madoka.fandom.com/wiki/Homulilly .
i give up for now but i might edit this in yhe future or smth. send asks if y wanna know my 5hoifhrs on other stuff ilyasm

Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie hears him. He keeps his eyes closed and just listens- to Steve grumbling to himself when his hair doesn’t sit quite right, who starts to hum and whisper some catchy song. Eddie turns his sleepy gaze onto Steve as he shuffles around their room- watching quietly as he slips on his clothes, his shoes, a simple chain with Eddie’s ring around his neck. A warm, affectionate smile breaks across his face. Before he leaves, Steve glances at what he expects to be a sleeping Eddie, but instead, he’s met with a rasped, ‘Hey.’ Eddie sits himself up, stretches his arm across Steve’s side of the bed, and reaches, fingers wiggling. Steve crosses the room to cradle his face.
Their foreheads press, noses bump, and Steve brushes his fingers across scars and dimples.
He breathes a quiet,
‘Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.’
Eddie huffs a tired laugh,
‘You know I never mind.’
Because, yeah.
Every morning Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie always hears him.

Has Ben's habit of casual flirting caused any problems for him or the team?
Probably not as much as his casual flexing with Omnitrix tbh xD Which is basically flirting for this guy!
Though admittingly HoM Ben is not as flirty as it might seem at first. As he grew up, it became, as you said, a habit - more of a part of his heroic/public persona that he developed after becoming a hero celebrity across the (alien part of) universe.
It tends to make people (especially those who know him by his reputation first) feel easier around him and/or underestimate him if he is just some silly guy who flirts. (I mean he is silly guy who casually flirts, but he is also just a dude and so much more, as we all know.)
There were a few instances when it brought trouble, but also sometimes it helped them out too. But, let's just say that HoMies tend to look out for Ben not to say something unfortunate whenever he tends to be too friendly.
Actually there is another casual flirter in their friend group that brings almost as much trouble as Ben - it's Jake! Some of his casually flirty/overly friendly behaviour can be attributed to him becoming an American Dragon in his early teens (he really enjoyed his newfound cool dragon powers and popularity amongst magical folk), and some of it is just his personality (his behaviour was incredibly cringy at times when he was younger, but as he matured, it changed into something a little bit more charming).
When those two are on a mission together, others have to work overtime to keep an eye on them.
Which is ironic, because I 100% headcanon almost all of the HoMies masters of accidental rizz: they make people like them just by being themselves lol.

I love to imagine the magic mountain bases all actually existing completely separately from each other in completely different time periods (almost), despite being physically in the same location.
In the ancient world, pyramids are constructed at the base of a huge volcano to honor the dead and worship old gods. A wide path leads to an entrance into the volcano, far enough in that the heat gets dangerous. Inside, sacrifices are made to the gods, to their king, offerings given up for the benefit of them all. The king is kind and forgiving, loyal to his people, asking for little and giving as much as he can. The gods however, are cruel, and all civilisations must fall eventually. For this one it's after a great eruption, one that shakes the earth with all the fury of the gods, that the pyramids become abandoned, left alone for centuries to erode. Over time new life grows, and thick jungles begin to hide the pyramids from view, until eventually, they’ve become a part of the natural landscape. Venture far enough in, however, and you might find remnants of the ancient civilisation: old writing in a language no one knows anymore, praises given to their old king; the remnants of ancient weapons and armour; the shapes of people who once lived forever preserved in ash and pumice.

It's the start of the industrial revolution, and rumours start spreading of an eclectic man and his steamrail full of exotic animals from across the globe. He’s a travelling zoo, of sorts, appearing in the strangest of places (as long as there's a railway line, he'll be there), areas it logically shouldn't be able to reach. He’s got all sorts of animals, from dolphins and turtles to strange, mysterious beasts. Where does he keep them all when they're not on the train? Some say he doesn't exist. others insist he does, that he lives underneath a mountain no one dares to visit. It's an active volcano, they say, dangerous to go near. If anyone dared to explore they might stumble upon the largest, most diverse collection of animals they've ever seen, and, most bizarrely, a large steam locomotive that runs on its own railway track, seemingly on a loop through the volcano itself. The tunnel is so dark the train disappears into it entirely. a young exploration group decide to find out for themselves, years later, and at first they think there's nothing there, until one of them stumbles upon the obvious remnants of a railway line, no longer in use but not so old that it's started to break down. Maybe he did exist after all...

In the late 1800s, a small fishing community establishes itself by the mountain. Electricity is new, and with the new machines and motors available to them the community quickly grows into a small village. Something is wrong, though. The rocks embedded in the mountain appear to resemble a skull more and more by the day, water streaming from one eye socket as though it’s crying. Underground passages and tunnels are found by the new residents, all leading to strange chambers. There's something in the water. A young man, one of the first in the village, disappears for a month, and when he returns, he's changed. He insists the ocean speaks to him, to everyone through him. He fishes for hours, days, weeks on end. When his madness begins infecting others, most gain the sense to stay away from him, but not everyone does. There's something in the water.
By the mid 1920s, the small fishing village is still standing, although most of the residents from four decades ago have since left. A young woman, traveling alone in her tiny fishing boat, docks at the village in need of repairs. What was meant to be a one night stay turns into days, then weeks, then months, as she begins to notice strange happenings in the village. A local artist has locked himself in his house, gone mad from something he found in the ocean. A scientist is experimenting with strange materials, and sometimes at night strange noises come from her house. There's something in the water. An older man speaks in tongues, driven mad by the sea. There's something in the water. The young fisher sees him occasionally, staring through her, unseeing. She's begun dreaming of ancient monsters in the depths of the water below her, reaching their long arms out and crushing her and everyone else. When she looks into the sea she can't see anything. It’s just inky blackness.
(No one knows how the village gets destroyed. One day it's here, and the next it's turned to rubble, razed to the ground by forces beyond human perception. It appears no one survived, but strangely, there's no trace of the small fishing boat the young woman had arrived in, nor of her body, and if anyone stopped for long enough in the wrecked city they might hear mumbling at night from underground, the mad ramblings of a man who has seen too much.)

Magic mountain row thrives in the early 2000s. They’ve beaten the Y2K bug (it really wasn't that much of a problem, anyway), business is booming at all the independent stores, and the local economy is better than ever. It doesn’t matter that not many people want to live here because new tech keeps Big Ron busy, and Willie Jr is old enough to start working at his father's shop, preparing himself to take over the business. The safe storage containers are always a little open, but nothing ever really goes missing, because no new people means everyone knows everyone. A young boy visits his neighbours for the last time before he leaves with his family; his dad's got a better job somewhere far away and they have to leave now, and besides it’s safer not to live by a barely-dormant volcano (it’s not as cool, though). His new neighbourhood has a lot more kids his age, but he can't help but miss the eccentric nature of his old neighbours. He returns to his childhood home twenty years later to find it empty. Most of magic mountain row is empty now, actually. There are a few places still open: Big Ron refuses to close up shop because Willie Jr, who has taken over the business now that his father's passed, still needs his help from time to time. Anyone still living here is merely clinging to a past they remember so fondly they can't adapt for the future. They're happy, though. They’re happy to remain here until it's their time to go.
~
In the not-so-distant future, a dense city is formed on the mountain. It started out as a smaller town, with traditional architecture and shrines dotted around the place, but as technology advanced and society progressed it grew and evolved into towering skyscrapers, holographic billboards, a rail system that winds through buildings and above streets. Elements of the past still remain - lush gardens lined with cherry blossom trees, the old shrines and temples still standing, a mark of the city's history and longevity. The city stands the longest, weathers the strongest storms, grows and evolves and changes, but all must come to an end, eventually. A rumbling in the earth, a once-dormant volcano waking from its slumber. They have the tech to know it's coming, now, so they all flee before it can hit. Only one man stays behind. This is his city. This is his home. He built this entire place from the ground up, and he’s not going to leave it behind. He makes his way to one of the shrines. Praying to his goddess, he leaves her one final offering, and when the ash settles all trace of him is gone.
~
The apocalypse happens in a future beyond our reckoning. A city lies, abandoned by most, on top of the ruins of civilisations that came before. Once a lively hub of activity and tech and innovation, the city has become a ghost town, occupied only by the artificial intelligences that had driven humanity out. They wander aimlessly, mimicking the behaviours of the humans they used to watch and help, protecting the inner core of their city that keeps everything, including themselves, alive. The humans reside elsewhere, in a bunker resembling the old world, with more vegetation and life than the city had despite being hidden underground. The city’s architects reassure everyone that they’ll be able to return someday soon. The one who designed the robots, a man more cyber than human by this point, just needs to fix a few issues with their programming. He doesn’t want to destroy them but he might have to. His partner, who designed most of the city, will need to commence repairs before anyone can live in the city again. So they leave, vowing to fix the city so that everyone can return to society. No one knows they will never return.
