Your body isn’t a thing. It’s a process. A cycle of matter briefly taking a human shape before returning to the ground.
You add matter to it through what you ingest, you lose matter from it when your cells die. Matter that was once part of your flesh is now part of another living organism.
You aren’t an individual, you’re a collective. The same way a lichen is composed of different fungus, algae, yeast, bacterias and other micro organisms.
You are more other than human. There are more micro organisms in your body than human cells. About 8% of the dna in your own cells come from other organisms. There’s cells from your birther and their own birther living inside you.
Your microbiome influences not only what you can digest, your cravings and your hunger but your emotions, thoughts and behaviors as well. They produce 90% of all of your serotonin.
You’ve never been a fixed thing. You’re constantly growing and changing. You’re a constant process, a community, dirt rising and taking a shape before settling down again. You are the world having a human experience. You are nature.

irl me (aka tired med school student) works in clinical neurology and i began working with an ALS case today which COULD be an “the galaxy is endless (i thought we were too)” reference but really it’s just the ever present reminder of the fragility of human existence

"Shared Illusion" by Nestor
This striking pencil drawing portrays humanoids intricately connected with numerous cables and machines, illustrating a shared illusion of reality. Ships sink into a swirling vortex, while a landscape featuring pyramids and crystals looms in the background. The artwork serves as a critique of technological dependence and invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of human existence and perception.

More human, more being
"It may conjectured that a soul in which the type of "free spirit" can attain maturity and completeness had its decisive and deciding event in the form of a great emancipation or unbinding, and that prior to that event it seemed only the more firmly and forever chained to its place and pillar." Friedrich Nietzsche - Human, All Too Human
If you've never experienced a psychotic break firsthand, you don't know what you're missing. Having an existential crisis or total loss of identity is both terrifying and unequivocally liberating.
Just picture this: you ask yourself who you are and answer yourself: "my name is" "I am from such and such a place" "I'm the child of so and so" "I do such and things for a living" "I am such and so many years old"
You ask yourself who you are. Who is asking? Who is answering? Who is observing the thoughts you're thinking? Who is asking "why did I say that? why did I do that?" Surely you know.
Who are you besides the name given you at birth? Who are you without identifying yourself by a place you live? Who are you without referring to yourself in relation to other characters? Who are you without distinguishing yourself by your occupation? Who are you? What are you? Are you a list of ists and isms? Are you a programmed set of responses to environmental stimuli? Are you a human just being?

You know what’s wild to consider?
That I as a modern person, who has an understanding of electricity and electron exchange, probably experience static shock in the exact same way people of the past did. Cause what the fuck am I gonna do about it?
Some medieval seamstress probably got static shock from her wool thread, didn’t know why it happened, but it didn’t really matter, cause what the devil was she gonna do about her string biting her?
That’s just kinda beautiful in a stupid way

1+ MIN READ
On Creativity.
Imagination, Doubt, Purpose.
Not everyone is going to resonate with what you have to create but it doesn’t matter. What you’re creating isn’t for the ones who aren’t attracted to it - it’s for the ones who are. You have no business comparing yourself to other people and what anyone else thinks of you is also none of your business. Your business is about being yourself as fully as you can - that’s your purpose in life. If you’re not willing to be yourself, all the people that would be attracted to and inspired by what you have to give are being deprived of your gift. Why hold yourself back from people that are looking for you and your creations? You might be keeping your gift away from people who might need to see it. Relax into what you are inspired to create with no insistence on the outcome. You would not be where you are, you would not have the gift you have, if there wasn’t someone who needed to receive it.
The fact that you have something to give defines the reality that there must, by definition, be someone in reality who needs to receive it or you wouldn’t be excited by it, you would be excited by something else. Don’t hold back the gift that you are. Someone is waiting to receive it. Don’t make them wait. When you don’t make them wait, you won’t be waiting to be yourself. Channel more of yourself. Stop arguing with creation about your value. If you weren’t valuable, you wouldn’t even exist.

The Sacred Act of Creation
Beyond EnlightenmentIn the realm of spiritual exploration, we often revere the state of enlightenment as the ultimate achievement. However, there lies a profound gift that transcends even this pinnacle of spiritual awakening: the act of giving birth. The capacity to bring forth life is a divine endowment bestowed upon women. This sacred act is not merely a biological function but a profound…

Ok, for 2024 I'll try to post something every third day, just to get things moving ín this Central European post (sorry, posh) called Hungary. Today it is also a little look back, as I had the pleasure of attending an exhibition organized by the capital (Budapest) - Bienale 2023 - 'Queering Democracy' - an immersive digital art review exhibition during the Budapest Spring Fesztival.
