It's okay if it's hard to be happy all the time. It's okay. Just seven quiet minutes of recognising that you are doing the best with what you have and with what you know is sufficient to get through the day. Do not be in a hurry to reach anywhere. Do not be desperate to run away from somewhere. Be where you are. Cry if you are sad. Laugh if you are happy. You don't have to pretend. It's exhausting. If you need to rest, rest. Get back up and get going again. The world is already very tricky, do not make it ever harder by blaming yourself for being you.

Imagine all your trauma, personified as your dark twin. Then embrace your dark twin, dissolving into you, who is made of pure light.
That really helped me a lot! Repeat as often as necessary. Very powerful.

Healing is awareness
Through my walk in life, i’ve heard everybody chant the importance of healing.
Heal before you become a parent, Heal before you marry, Heal after you graduate , and so on.
However, what does healing, truly look like?
I don’t know it all, but i sure know that the first step to healing is a trigger.
You get into an argument with your friend, and find yourself craving an intense amount of distance. full stop, that’s your trigger.
You were most likely confronted by your friend and that might have made u feel exposed, undesired, stupid even. and so, you decide distancing yourself for days is the best solution to regain your balance.
Your initial trigger could have been, let’s say for this example, feeling unwanted as a result of their confrontation.
A healthy response would’ve been to listen to their worries and to act upon them in the future.
Instead of distancing yourself , you begin your healing journey by understanding why you want to even distance yourself from them in the first place.
The key to heal this triggered reaction starts from being aware of its existence.
The second step would be understanding why this trigger, in particular, even exists.
I’ve seen people have the same argument with others, but each couple or friends reacts entirely differently.
That is because we create certain responses based on our past experiences and/or general and specific fears.
In this scenario , an example of what triggered your desire for distance could have been a parent modeling this exact scene in your childhood. Your parents argued and distanced themselves from eachother for days, and you accepted it as truth. Or, it could have been a habit that you have developed in adulthood, as a means of escape and regaining some sort of composure and sense of self. Or it could be a plethora of other reasons.
Just be more observant of yourself and you’ll get yours down, especially the more you ponder on your life.
After being aware of your trigger and then understanding its root cause, step three would be to forcefully catch yourself while being triggered, and changing your course of action in this merry moment.
step 1 and 2 seem fairly do-able but step 3, goodness. It makes or breaks.
Step 3 is hellish, and it takes a very disciplined individual to keep it up. there will be slip ups, as any human has them, but if you don’t give up after failure, your new course of action turns into your only course of action.
It becomes an action you no longer have to think before you do. You no longer catch yourself being triggered and having to make yourself act in a healthier way. It inevitably just becomes your nature.
Step 4 is self love, and this step doesn’t come after step 1,2,3. Actually, it intertwines and flows through all the steps. it may not be easy to feel the self compassion all the time, but it will always exist because from step 1, you decided to change your toxic mindset. That is proof enough that you love yourself, dearly and with all your heart.

Won't raise my children to suppress their emotions and feelings like a lot of people in my generation's parents made them do 😢. I'm teaching them that it's ok to cry, I don't tell them to suck it up or to stop whining. I'm teaching them how to feel the emotions and how to ground and ways to release them. I'm also helping them find ways to calm down when they're experiencing their big feelings : bubble baths, going to read a book or to color/draw, going for a walk , practice breathing/"blowing out the candles" if it's a situation that's caused distress, or I'll rub their back. Not only that, I'm helping them become familiar with expressing those feelings and asking them: "What can I do to make it better?" So yea, this is the CORRECT, HEALTHY way to handle disappointment/hurt/anger/conflict, etc.

It hurts nevertheless, the thought of the imminent separation from the one you have loved for years, the constant attempts to smile for their sake, the sight of their sufferings and their bodies that began to decay. It hurts like nothing else. The pain of this kind has no definition. It's different for everyone. But, you live anyway.
