lost numerous lovers, including a woman carrying his child, and including some he was at least partially responsible for the deaths of

arrived too late to save the lives of his brother and sister-in-law

lost too many crewmembers to count, and you know he held himself personally responsible for each and every one of those

probably more that I'm forgetting about

and then Spock dies, and Kirk fucking AGREES.

He says, yes, you're right. I haven't faced death. Not like this.

Not like this.

All of those deaths he's lived through, and blamed himself for? You're telling me that none of them mean as much to him as the death of Spock? And you want me to read this as. what. Normal friend things?? When he calls Spock the more noble half of his soul?? And says that Spock's katra is his responsibility, just as much as if it were his own???

I haven’t fully decided how the moment would go, there’s a lot of directions but I did decide to kind of do a concept doodle of this scenario, sort of. I was gonna send it with this ask but I think it deserves its own post for how long it is XD but know you were the ask that spawned it. But yeah I have lots of ideas on what could possibly happen, the biggest aspect of it that is subject to change is whether or not Clay is there in what would be this aus version of the Branch Floyd reunion from the movie, and then like what goes with that you know?

I’m more along the idea that Clay would be there, as would most of them, due to the circumstances having changed so drastically that they wouldn’t be separated by a fight, but you never know. This is pretty close tho to some of like my first thoughts, also sorry for taking a literal month to answer again the concepts I made were meant to go with this but I was going through so many drafts I legit just exploded.

Every time I talk to a DB fan who doesn't know or doesn't agree that the whole franchise is an adventure comedy first and an action series second I feel insane but then I find an old Toriyama interview,

You made some comedic scenes where you have minor villains Pilaf & co. appear; how did you come up with a balance between laughs and fierce battles? Do you pay attention to the difference between comedy and battle in making a work “entertaining”?

I believe that, when you combine comedy and serious battles, both of them might come alive even more. As for me personally, though, I much prefer drawing dumb jokes to battle scenes.

as a bonus, every time I'm like 'idk I didn't really like most of the DBZ movies prior to Yo Son Goku and Friends Return and BotG,' and get the 'whAAaaT they're so gOOD' (from my brother, tbh askdjs) but they all seemed really Action-Drama and About the Fight Scenes and I'm like 'meh kinda boring tbh' I get to gaze upon,

In the latest movie, Toriyama-san, you participated in the production from the scriptwriting stage for the first time. What is the reason for that? Was there anything you noticed in coming face-to-face with the work after so long?

I was told about a project for Dragon Ball in its first animated film in a long while, and I read the story outline; while the beings “Beerus, God of Destruction” and “Super Saiyan God” (which goes above Super Saiyan) were interesting, the themes were heavy, and I felt that the world was a bit different from Dragon Ball. Rather than telling them about this or that problematic spot, I thought it would be faster if I just wrote it out concretely, and while I had intended just to give them a model―”for example”―my hand wouldn’t stop, and ultimately, I ended up writing almost everything, including the dialogue. I am reflecting on the fact that I did something terribly rude to the scriptwriter.

yknow, ralph breaks the internet has been rightfully criticised to death for years because its one of the worst mainstream animated movies to have ever been released, and honestly is one of the worst sequels ive ever seen or heard of, which is really funny when sequels are famously not very good in most cases

all this to say that i think my biggest issues with it aside from the abysmal writing and the product placement up the ass, is that first off, its not even about video games. the original wreck it ralph is basically a love letter to video games, the references and the care put into those aspects of the movie are so delightful, but the sequel is practically not about video games at all, not really.

also moreso, you literally couldve just replaced any of the characters in ralph breaks the internet with brand new original characters and it wouldve been the same tbh. it just didnt feel like a story unique to those characters and their setting, and they were so out of character that it wasnt even them anyway.

if the sequel had been them discovering the world of online and modern video games, it wouldve been cool. theres so much potential there because of the evolution of video games, and how limited arcade machines are compared to online games, and the things these characters couldve discovered about themselves and eachother couldve been cool (not to mention any new characters introduced and the plots those could have), but instead we got product placement self advertising emoji movie out of character hell

I'm not sure where exactly I am going with this yet but I want to write a janto fic in which, due to the effect of something alien or other, Ianto is banned from having sex for a 1-3 month period lest he die.

And set it in early season 2, when Jack just came back and they have sorted of started to go on proper dates but everything they've done has always ended up with them shagging.

Like take away their primary love language at a point in time where this budding thing between them is so tentative and new and see where they go from there, you know what I mean?
