I love the Gay Dads AU so much pipipi

There's some thoughts and more drawings under the cut (and there's some mpreg wa)

-I'm not sure how the au works, but it gives me the impression that Ballister was Nimona's dad and then there came Ambrosius as a stepdad, or either they both adopted her and Nimona just took better to Ballister. But I'd go with the first option (unless there's a 'canon' option, in which case please if someone knows pipipi tell me)

-I love them so much you have no idea :'''v this is the sorta AU I create 😭 I'm having a lot of fun pipipi

-Also it makes me kinda sad that some of the drawings where Ambrosius is with Nimona he's got a >:c face on, like he doesn't know what he's doing which is very on brand for new parents but pipipi I want them to get along

-Nimona didn't talk much when she was little but one day she started talking full sentences with a big vocabulary, and then never shut up again.

>Not sure if she never talks in the drawings ND Stevenson did of this AU because she's very young or she just doesn't want to.

-Nimona loves Ballister the most and feels the most comfort in his hug, but she has more fun with Ambrosius

-If they had Cyrus (the fankid I made for comic Goldenheart) it'd still be very much an accident and Nimona would be small (under four), and not very happy about it.

-She's definitely jealous and becomes very clingy to Ballister, which he finds adorable when he's not exhausted.

(The idea here was Ambrosius asking whether she'd like a brother or a sister, since she's having a sibling, but I think I phrased it wrong sjdks)

>Ballister and Ambrosius do their best for her to not feel left out, but when Cyrus' born she's not as jealous as they thought, and it seems that she actually likes him (but she doesn't let him touch any of her sea animal toys)

-Also Nimona wasn't told that her little brother was being born that day until later when Meredith was looking after her.

>She was being her toddler self and accidentally giving Ballister a more stressful time

-There's a video of a little kid with his newborn sister (I assume) in his arms and he says 'she doesn't have any arms 😦', so imagine that Nimona thought the same thing and given that Cyrus' hair is black too, she thought that her baby brother looked just like her dad 😭

-Also here's the two babies bc I love them, thinking that they'd be the sort of siblings with a small age gap that fight a lot but also love each other a lot

...it was supposed to be a comic, but a lot went wrong, so..keep this little description:

Sticky, warm blood spread across his chest, trying to hide the terrible wounds left by the cold metal. The eyelids grew heavy, and the boundless darkness crept up to forever take the knight into his silent realm of death. "Ambrosius...I'm...sorry."

Hands gently but tightly wrapped around his body. "Shh, it's okay, it's okay"

Oh, that voice. So dear to him voice now repeated these words with pain like a mantra, as if it could change something. But breathing became harder and harder every moment. “Oh no no no no don’t leave me. Bal, please don't leave me alone!"

Now it was like a prayer. A prayer that heavens will never hear. But the knight in dark armor heed this prayer. And hundreds of thoughts and words that he would like to say ran through his mind. And then everything went quiet. And he plunged into darkness.

I have to say that I am not a writer, so the structure of the text and the words may seem strange. Sorry~

Anyway, I would like to share with you the context of what is going on here and why!

I thought that, as in all existing societies, there will always be those who are against changes. It so happened historically that not all people are ready for changes, because changes are always scary. And, of course, no matter how heartbreaking the scene with Nimona is, you can never get the respect of the entire kingdom. Especially the elite, which can lose control. Since Ambrosius remained the only "main" person of the kingdom, he did the main work of changing people's minds. And that part of the elite that was against it, saw it as a conspiracy. Allegedly, Ambrosius did this not for the benefit of society, but for the benefit of his partner. Therefore, the ranks of the conspirators grew and became stronger. And when they gathered enough strength, the uprisings/resistance to new arrangements and power began.

And it is in one of the clashes with these conspirators that Ballister is mortally wounded...or not?

Yes, yes, you understood correctly, I have two endings. Of course.

Anyway, I find this concept more interesting, as it brings me a little closer to political things, making things darker and therefore more interesting. After all, what is happiness worth if you don’t have to fight for it?

Even though I'm taking a break from my fic, for some reason I'm finding myself wanting to draw my AU versions of the cast SBSBSBS MOSTLY BAL???

I'm working on the first one rn mostly to practice renaissance style painting, so SHHSSH but the last two are wips idk if imma continue just yet LOL yes the 2nd one is gonna be a better version of one of the rushed doodles BC I was so happy with the horse LMFAO

Role swap aus where Ambrosius is the one framed is so funny to me(I love them and want more). Because like I firmly believe he could not make a plan to save his life. That man would have literally walked into the Directors office demanding to know if she was a murderer and gotten murdered with no proof to show for it if he hadn’t been beaten to the punch.

In my version of the au Ambrosius would still have his arm because he was knighted before Ballister so the positions wouldn’t have been right for him to lose it. Nimona wouldn’t want to be his sidekick cause he is still a descendant of Glorith and she wouldn’t want to get burned again but she’d still be helping him out and causing chaos, cause this is the most excitement the kingdoms seen in a long time and man does Ambrosius suck at being a criminal.

Ballister would be very suspicious from the get go, “Ambrosius couldn’t have killed the Queen, there was too much planning.” Ballister wouldn’t have been knighted because the Queen died so he’d be in a weird gray area while the institute conducted the man hunt leaving him to his own devices. Ballister would be doing his own investigation.

Okay, okay here me out:

Vampire AU and this as Ambrosius and Ballister

Like, I don't even know what it might uphold. Maybe Ambrosius is lonely after leaving his screwed up snobbish family to love his one life and works at an animals sanctuary (the opposite of what his family wanted for him), and so one day he meets a little bat he thinks needs help and takes it home to nurse if back to health, and when he lets it go the little guy comes back every night to keep him company and he thinks he's made a friend.

This bat is, of course, Ballister, who, after being treated so kindly by this stranger, can't help but visit him every other night despite his ward (Nimona) warning him otherwise, but he's become friends with this handsome and lonely man, and wants to keep him company.

Also he gets free fruit and is treated like a little king when he's there so he doesn't want to give that up so soon.

I imagine they would bump (literally) into each other one night, Ballister in his human form, and while helping him up Ballister would realise that the man who bumped into him was his man! But Ambrosius doesn't know who he is at all, and yet finds this stranger so alluring that he stays and walks with him in the night.

Ambrosius doesn't see the stranger after that, but has noticed that his little friend Bat has been visiting much more frequently (as Ballister has found himself to be even more infatuated with the man), and leaves his balcony window open for him to get in when he wasn't home yet.

Then Ambrosius mentions to his little friend Bat that he thinks he wants to start dating, which Ballister is very much against because that would mean that some stranger was going to be cutting into his time with Ambrosius (this is when he realizes how much like Nimona he was acting).

decided to draw gus eating a normal human orange the definitely normal human way. @a-jar-of-beetles suggested someone eating an orange, and i found a stock image and gus was the first one to come to mind!!
