no no, you don't understand: female terfs need to antagonize men because they cannot dissociate their womanhood from misogyny. without the "kill all men" rhetoric they wouldn't know what gender to identify themselves with.

this ideology bleeds out of containment and affects people other than cis men. you're a trans woman? they'll say that you don't understand real misogyny because you grew up differently, and since experiencing misogyny is a requirement for being female, you're appropriating the female gender and posing a direct threat to cis womanhood. nevermind the fact that every trans woman was once a little girl in a world that hated little girls, that expected them to hate themselves for every girlish thing about them, that demonstrated its hatred for trans girls in a way that cis women never get to see, because misogyny happens in the boys locker room too.

i wouldn't put too much stake in any interaction with that person you were arguing with earlier, i recognized her right away and i don't know if she's stirred anything up lately but she's one of the people who made a bunch of enormous callout posts spreading lies about saint when he coined transandrophobia originally and has also started shit with other black users accusing them of racefaking because they don't Act Black enough for her or something, she's an enormous troll.

I understand where you're coming from, but respectfully (/gen) I think dismissing her as "a troll" underplays the damage she does because it's not like she's just looking to agitate people and what she says can be ignored as shock value. Whether she believes her own lies, is maliciously seeking clout, or is just a TERF psyop, she's a really disgusting engine for the whole deal.

Having said that, I don't usually like, track specific people and will usually just see things floating around, and if it's someone I interacted with before but hasn't blocked me (as the people I've had more memorable interactions usually do) I've usually completely forgotten their URL and would never be able to place them. For someone who claims to have original stories, you post a lot of Fanfiction art. Ahh, well, yeah. I tend to go through phases of my stories, and my current phase is an unhealthy obsession with my Don’t Starve work.

What do you tend to write into your stories? My original stories are fantasy based with heavy emphasis on creatures like dragons and magic. I tend to write with darker topics and love to go into subjects like neurodivergence and mental disorders. It is always my intent to portray these disorders accurately and respectfully. With Fanfiction, it often depends on the story and what inspired me to write it. Generally, I write a lot of angst and hurt/comfort, which I don’t believe is too surprising. You can often see this portrayed in my art

Very quick question, simblr will post things like please tell me if I’m following someone sketchy, so someone goes around to give “heads up” or a “warning” but it seems like it’s okay to do so in some cases but not others. I was wondering when you think is the right time to do that, or if it should stop altogether. I know that’s it’s possible to have different opinions on someone or something (but I feel like simblr can’t fathom that.) Do we let people follow whoever or do we speak up? I guess as someone who’s new here I’ve seen this trend and it can be overwhelming when it comes to who I’m supposed to follow or not. Sorry if this is gibberish, and you don’t need to answer at all. Hey nonny, this is a complicated question that I'm not entirely sure of the answer.

I think, ultimately, it depends on your personal lines. Because we as people can't take on every issue and try to save the world. Not only is it exhausting, especially if you're part of a marginalized group that deals with this shit IRL to start with, but it's functionally impossible. And we can all only take so much. I have to say that again. We can only take so much. Ultimately, if fighting the so-called good fight on the internet is too overwhelming, you can just stop. In fact, you should. Dealing with shit on here combined with IRL took me to one of my lowest points in my life, and depressingly, it did functionally nothing in the grand scheme of things. Whether that grand scheme of things was in terms of the simblr community or the world a whole, it's the same; I accomplished nothing and nothing changed. Except I feel worse when trying to participate in the community and I certainly have a far bigger target on my back from bigots and anyone else that just found me annoying. It gave me a bad reputation for being involved with "drama" and I've endured so much vile shit being said about me on here that occasionally it makes me nauseous to think about. So was it worth the time and effort spent? Well, no. So from my experience, I would advise not to get too wrapped up in who did what and who you should block and the entire history of who did that stupid ass thing that one time. It's useless.

Instead, measure by your own lines, your own morals and triggers. I personally block transphobes, terfs, racists, etc, that have documented proof in their own words of bigotry, that have not apologized/changed. I don't go into others inboxes to inform them about these people, but I will reblog/boost informative posts with appropriate proof and tag them accordingly, so that my followers can be aware. I certainly do not take random anons as proof and do not share rumors or vague accusations. If you ever feel the need to inform someone about someone else, be sure to investigate fully and know exactly what you're talking about before you do so and provide links/screenshots. Simblr has the collective memory of a goldfish and mixes things up all the time, together with remembering rumors as fact or even completely switching around events. I have over 500 asks in my inbox, and have received "reports" about many, many people here. A good amount of them are inaccurate & misremembered, accidentally about someone else entirely than who they named, have two different stories mixed up, are sourced from bad faith actors (such as bigots), or are completely made up with no source. I've always emphasized reading comprehension, proper research, and taking where you're getting your information from into account, and now I want to stress that even more.

I also do want to emphasize that random people on simblr are not the beacon of morality, nor should they be the judge of who is good and who is bad. We all have bias, misconceptions, and different backgrounds and life experiences. We all have different follower counts and influence in this sphere. And in my experience, simblr's perverted sense of justice more so depends on how well you are liked, who you are friends with, and what you can give the community than the weight of your actual crime. There is a reason why simopeia (just one example, there are many) gets called out every other week and still gets hundreds of notes on posts. There is a reason why certain cc creators regularly rip off the community but are continously overlooked. There's a reason why popular simblrs can act like complete assholes and engage in bigotry and go on unchecked, but others get railed for minor infractions. And there's a reason why minority simmers are criticized far more harshly for their mistakes than their peers, especially the few that have taken up the white savior role.

Simblr is not a court of law. It's social media. And it's a social game more than anything else. Many people have been here for years and have personal history with one another. Some hate each other for being friends with or following someone they dislike. They will hold onto shit endlessly, bring old events up over and over out of context, even consider themselves some sort of online royalty with the power to exile those they dislike to Instagram or Twitter. Whether they find legitimate problematic behavior or just decide to make it up one day, they use and abuse their follower count on a whim without any regard for the effects they might have. It's an ego-fueled game with a fresh & shiny veneer of performative morality. And those that are good intentioned get swept up in it thinking that it is legitimate until they meet the harsh reality that it's nothing more than a fool's errand. It's bitter and sad, and in my experience, the people that endlessly talk about this either lack control in their life IRL & think they can change things in this smaller space (like I did) or simply have made being angry online their personality and can't find a way to break out of it. You do not want to become one of these people, trust me.

These are a lot of words for me to say, basically- judge for yourself, block who you need to, but don't get too wrapped up in it all. I wouldn't go out of my way to tell anyone anything, but if you feel you should (and they've expressed wanting to be told), be sure to do so clearly and appropriately with proof. Above all, protect your own peace. No one else will. If you don't want to engage with it or don't feel you have the mental space, then just don't. I certainly can't blame you for that.

I have a seizure disorder and I ACTUALLY know the seriousness of it. I’m not shaming myself or my community for being pissed at someone who gives “tips” on how to induce one (which isn’t even how epilepsy WORKS, some people like myself don’t know our triggers aside from MAYBE going off medication). You can be an advocate for the disability community, you can be an ally, AND you can recognize that something is harmful.

You want to have a seizure disorder? Then get into a fight and have your head slammed down, or get into a car accident and hope you get a traumatic brain injury. There’s not even a way to just GIVE yourself some disabilities because you’re born with them. I was born with Neurofibromatosis - you can’t just give that to yourself. I was born autistic - you can’t just become autistic. (Which…I’m okay with my autism far more than my epilepsy because it’s given me far more positives than epilepsy, but it’s not just stimming and sensory items. It’s also bullying and frustration and getting into an argument with your therapist and sister about ABA therapy. It’s a lot of frustrations.)

I mean I’ve seen people go as far as identifying as “trans cancer”. Maybe those are the troll blogs, I don’t know…but do I really have to waste my time and explain why? Why don’t you go through these tags and read posts by the folks who agree with me and admittedly might explain it better?

The only good parts to my disorder are the memes I found. I would choose to live without it if I could and I’m sure thousands of other people would too. So it causes individual harm - is that not enough? What’s going to happen if you “stay in the closet” and don’t transition? Trans people are at a higher risk of suicide if they stay in the closet…and if they come out they risk their safety. Plus they ARE the gender they say they are - transitioning is not required, nor is it accessible for everyone. A trans woman has always been a woman and knows she’s a woman. Even if the trans person years before they come out, they actively realize and know they’re trans. Someone who is “trans disability” knows they don’t have that disability.

11) I didn’t even make this account to argue with the community. I’ve seen similar posts for the transx community actually, and those didn’t provide education. Why do I have to provide education? Why can’t I just be annoyed and tell those who agree with me to save their energy?

Here is your reminder not to bother engaging with the “transx” community that makes a joke out of the trans and larger LGBT community by spreading misinformation, romanticizing disabilities (notice how nobody identifies with the conditions that are stigmatized in a different way like IBS), perpetuating racism (if you’re white and identify as a person of color, I have some news for you hun), encouraging adults to go in the space of minors, further fueling ped0s who have no shame in acting on their disorder, and overall just causing harm to those of us who live with these actual identities!

It’s not worth it, babes. Exit out of Tumblr for a bit, take a deep breath, eat a snack or hydrate or step outside - give yourself that care. They aren’t going to listen because they’re too far in this echo chamber.

I have mutuals who like all sorts of things I don't - soup, hiking, the brithish royalty, hunting. I still reblog their stuff, and that doesn't mean our opinions on those topics align.

Of course, I'm always grateful for warnings about me accidentally rebbloging content from a terf/nazi/homophobe/pedophile/scammer, etc, etc. because then I can erase said post and report the user who made it to try make Tumblr a safer community. Disagreeing on whether soup is good isn't the same as disagreeing on lgbt rights.

But when it comes to shipping... man, I don't really care, y'know? Because here's the deal: who really cares about how or with whom these characters are being shipped? "The children"? I know your intentions are good, but shipping discourse of adult ships is, in my particular opinion, not that important. I don't even ship clones, nor do I care when I see works in which they are shipped. That's my stance on adult ships of - and I repeat it - fictional characters. I'm unsure what to think about this whole "babygirl" disc horse, bc on one hand i generally always agree that the onus should be on the person bothered by something to block tags e.t.c. but it's true that in this case there are often also edited images used that can't be filtered out this way, it's not that easy. And i guess there can be this terf-y "feminine is always better" vibe with some(!) examples of this trend, so i get why some transmasc might be uncomfy/wary with this.

I honestly have to say that the number of gifsets I've knowingly seen with the phrase babygirl or malewife etc is zero. That doesn't mean I've never seen one, it just means it's made absolutely zero impact on me, as a transmasc person.

1. Context is key. TERFs claim being trans is predatory and can’t be seen by kids. Their anons don’t involve actual examples of pedophilia. My anon is specifically about pedophilia. It “looking similar” doesn’t mean the content or context is the same.

2. If there are actual TERFs out there who are confronting ppl about actual pedophilia then it wouldn’t be a surprise if my anti-pedophilia ask looked similar to theirs. It would simply mean that me and that person happen to agree that actual pedophilia is bad.

And what’s worse and more sinister is that post (and posts like it) always start off as innocent and sweet and innocuous and devolve into rape fantasies or smth of the type. So not only can ppl not avoid seeing shit like that when they want to, but some people might accidentally like or reblog bc they didn’t see the switch up at the end and misinterpreted what they were consuming

Finally, it being fiction isn’t some magic spell that makes it somehow not what it is. I’m anti-censorship in art and fiction so this is not some call to action to ban ppl online, but that does not mean I have to consume, accept, or follow anyone who does. You’re free from censorship, not from my judgment.

And ppl into these immoral or taboo things know damn well what makes it upsetting or triggering or uncomfortable for a majority of people and it’s 100% on you to tag your shit properly so we can avoid it. Especially when you deliberately make posts that start off innocuous for the first 3 quarters of it before revealing its actual nature.

So to summarize, the only reason I didn’t just block like I usually do and move on is because you were a mutual, you have your likes on, and the overall issue of people who don’t tag their shit which makes it hard to avoid or filter.

Lucifer is a huge transmisogynist who will complain 24/7 about how TERFs hurt the ace community, but the moment @randomclustermissile , a trans girl (who is not an exclusionist at all) tries to point out transmisogyny in inclusionist circles (in the most vague and general way possible, without pointing fingers nor calling anyone names) Lucifer will immediatly jump to block her and so they did with me (another inclusionist) and i have to suppose to everyone else who agreed with that post, even arriving to vagueing about us in private group chats to suggest that we were “sympathizing with exclusionists”. all because we dared point out transmisogyny in inclusionist circles. lucifer is TME but apparently they think they’re the authority on TERFs and their talking points but actual trans women are not, according to them, since this is the stuff that they would go and spew to other people. this is their post that ive already talked about but basically they found a 52 notes post made by a TERF in 2012 and this one person said "i dont know why i dont get to be the princess of the anti-ace-brigade" and apparently they are convinced that this means TERFs started the ace exclusionism movement and that this is one of their goals. which is insane when TERFs in real life only care about making life miserable for transfem people first and foremost.

another example of conflating radfems to things that, while wrong, have little to nothing to do with them because being a radfem, again, is something very specific that has all to do with transfem oppression.

Emotional manipulation

Lucifer has done nothing but block, break boundaries, spread lies and vague about people, some of which were even mutuals with them knowing they would see the posts. when confronted about it Lucifer's only answer was "just say you hate me and block me" but they actually ended up blocking everyone first, making it impossible for anyone to set some boundaries with them or even just to calmly confront them about anything.

[proof: Io(popncourse) and Lucifer had a disagreement in a shared discord server, which prompted Lucifer to vague Io in a vent post. Io confronted them, as being vagued is one of buns triggers, to which Lucifer initially agreed to delete the vent post, but then proceeded to victimize themself and immediatly blocked Io. later on, Jude(malewifedeckard) was confronted by Lucifer, then after Jude told them “I’m worried that you’ll vague me just like you did with Io” they proceeded to block Jude and vagued about him too. when Io made a post (which was not a callout, it was just bun setting buns boundaries) explaining what Lucifer did, Lucifer immediatly jumped to victimize themself, acting like they were being called out and straight-up lying, even going so far as to say that no one tried to hear them out, which is a blatant lie if you consider the aforementioned Io and Jude’s attempts at doing so, with Lucifer immediatly blocking and cutting ties with the both of them. ]

as seen in the proof above Lucifer’s behaviour is not ok because they don’t accept any kind of confrontation and immediatly jump to blocking, and after blocking, they'd immediatly go and vague about the people who confronted them pacificly, spreading more lies and painting themself as the victim and even arriving to say “no one hears me out at all” which is simply not something you can say when you block people who are trying to hear you out in the first place.

this is by no means an invitation to go and harass them, send them hate or anything like that. i absolutely don’t want anything even remotely hateful or negative to be sent their way after this post. 

this post was only made because:

1. as an ace person who fully supports the inclusion of aspec identities in the lgbt+ community i don’t want to support an enviroment that costantly downplays transmisogynistic oppression in order to be taken seriously. there are hundreds of ways to make aspec activism without acting like we(as in TME aspecs)are the victims of a system that seeks for the annihilation of transfemenine people in real life everyday. i especially don’t want to support TME individuals who act transfem-friendly but then block any transfem who tries to speak on transmisogyny without a second thought.

pro-shipping was the first community i was affected by. i was born in 2003 and the first time i saw the word lesbian was on porn hub in 2010, on my iPhone 3G. before that, i didn’t realize that women could kiss other women let alone fuck them. my first time seeing gay fiction was on wattpad through poorly written scripts or smut (yes, this is my parent’s failure.) & at the time elementary & middle schools had not yet put gay media on their shelves so i learned everything i knew about sex through fan fiction, social media, & google. mental illness & neurodivergency was also a “taboo” topic growing up, and as an undiagnosed autistic (also my parents failure) i found a home in communities on archive of our own that wrote alpha/beta/omega (omegaverse) fiction. i didn’t like ABO for the sexual reason (i was 10), i liked the concept because i liked the idea of pack dynamics (or having a group of friends who are naturally comfortable with physical contact and affection), nesting (or creating a familiar safe space filled with soft things, scents, & toys that no one is allowed to enter until they have my consent), and depending on someone fully capable of supporting me. these 3 things are all vital to my personal happiness as an autist, and i was neglecting that part of my life at the time so i read fiction to cope. while this part of ABO isn’t a “bad thing,” i was still exposed to the sexual & abusive themes of the trope in every fic, like being unable to control raping anyone, as a natural part of biology, or not being treated the same as others because of your birth gender/sex/orientation. so of course i’ve seen pro-fiction from the dead dove: do not eat category, like, “rape/non-con/non-consensual touching/dub-con/dubious consent, somnophilia, necrophilia, sexual violence, yandere/obsessive behavior, erotophonophilia, violence/pain/murder/blood kink, gun play/knife play, cannibalism/self-cannibalism/vore, gang-bang/gang-rape, incest/twincest/selfcest, pedophilia, consensual underage sex, DDLG/CLG/agere/age play, watersports/piss/cum/pregnancy/breeding/inflation/lactation kinks, forced pregnancy/forced loss of pregnancy, slut shaming, public sex/voyeurism, tentacle porn/monster fucking/monster breeding/sex pollen/sex potion, gore/self harm/mutilation/torture, “wound fucking,” suicide, psychological horror, emotional abuse/psychological abuse/manipulation/gaslighting, abusive/manipulative/unhealthy relationships, “whump,” child abuse, forced infantilism, forced feeding, stockholm syndrome, alcohol abuse/drug abuse/underage drink/underage smoking, zoophilia/beastiality…” & i think you get the gist of it by now. some of these terms can be found with “attempted,” “implied/referenced,” or “accidental” in front of them. for example, “attempted rape,” “implied self harm/suicide,” or “accidental voyeurism.” they can also be found with “extremely,” “minor,” & other descriptive terms like, “extremely dubious consent,” “minor non-con themes,” or “slight voyeurism.” if you go to Ao3 and search “dead dove: do not eat,” you’ll find all of this. but basically, this is pro-fiction & all of it is bad. all of it is harmful. fandoms have always been full of people writing abusive fiction & those^ are the terms they use. (it’s foul, isn’t it?) i’ll be honest, i don’t know the origin(s) of ABO (it can’t be anything good) and although people have written properly tagged fics without abusive themes in them there’s still that underlying purpose in every fic of “it’s written to cope with (or the absence of) patriarchal abuse & segregation.” it’s all written by abusers & people who condone & romanticize abuse (also abusers), so you’re often exposed to dead dove: do not eat media wherever you go.

no amount of “comfort” and “fluff” fics will change that, you’re only adding to the problem, convoluting it & making the internet more unsafe. taking abusive fiction/media off of the internet would be a start in making this world safer to raise children. it needs to happen. & if you’re against “problematic fiction” & recognize the problem you need to stop being a pro-shipper, keep your head down & get the fuck out of everyone’s way. stop telling us that pedos aren’t as big of a deal as they are in your communities & that “you’ve got it handled,” because even you recognize them as a problem. and you don’t have it handled. so stop convoluting your messages with false pretenses of “helping us get pedos off of the internet” because really, you’re just making it easier for them to hide. pro-shipping was created by pro-contact paraphiliacs and they are using the term “pro-shipping” or “com-shipping” to generalize and publicize their abuse & maltreatment. (do you not remember MOGII, & pedos trying to join the lgbtq community?) the public, being ignorant, only sees what pro-paraphiliacs are doing on a surface level or doesn’t see them at all.

i should not have to explain why this media is bad. & why i want people to keep their rape fantasies to themselves is self-explanatory. what apparently isn’t “self-explanatory” is that adults are willingly neglectful and that there is a moral issue with ableism affecting us all. & pro-shipping is part of that issue. so i am not going to censor myself for you (but not in the way you think.) if you are against censoring media that openly shows fictional sex, horror, gore, abuse, incest, rape, etc., to children then we are not on the same page. if you think it is not your job as an individual to help censor media that has a negative impact on children, we are not on the same page. as adults it is your job to protect children from harm. no, this doesn’t mean laying a firm hand on them (physical abuse) or telling them what they can and cannot do (mental abuse.) i mean that you must control yourselves and censor yourselves for (your) children. children do not owe you anything. children are a privilege, not a curse, but too many of you are too sex obsessed to care. (& what i mean by the first sentence is that i am not going to censor my hate for your communities. i really think you are stupid, wrong, and need to stop existing.) children are not able to create their own media because they are children. (this means that their brains and bodies aren’t developed enough to make books, movies, & merchandise for themselves.) so, it is the adults job to create safe media and enrichments for children to enjoy. if you create media for children with any intent to add your adult interests to the content, you are a pedophile & you are pushing your adult interests onto children who cannot protect themselves. their parents do not protect them because they are the same as you: a pedophile who only cares about themselves. there is a difference between mentally scarring children and educating them. letting a child view (abusive) porn early is scientifically proven to be damaging to children. sex education must be better taught in school’s and it is up to the adults to make that happen as children are, as i said, incapable of doing that for themselves. if you think you have “the right” to harm children (minors) because they’ve harmed you in the past we are, again, not on the same page. if you weren’t able to grow up and realize that adults are the reason children hurt other children, you are now part of that reason and continue to perpetuate the existence of kids who bully. if you openly show your hatred for children by telling them that they are the reason for all of your pain because they are children, you are not helping the problem, you are helping to create bullying kids. if you think children can be “entitled” you’re the problem, children grow up to be entitled adults, & children are in no way responsible for how they were raised. you do not understand anything about growing up, children, or society and how it works. you are stupid and pathetic. i won’t use the term ignorant to refer to you adults anymore because you are NOT children and therefore should have learned your lesson. you should have came to the realization that adults are the cause of all of your problems, you were never the problem when you were a kid. but you were not able to, so now you are traumatized, abusive, and terminally online. you’re the problem now & i hope you all receive the help you so desperately need. & i hope you stop perpetuating this cycle of harming children and not caring about harming children. but you won’t, so i’ll just have to sit and wait for your age group to die off. that’s the best i can hope for at this point.

the issue with pro-shipping and pro-fiction is that it enables (child) neglect and abuse. & it doesn’t help that the abused were taught it’s okay to keep perpetuating that abuse as a coping mechanism. & it doesn’t help that technology has advanced so far as to give everyone a space to learn about and talk to each other. because ignorant neglectful people created that technology & have access to that technology, and those neglectful people had kids who have access to that technology & more knowledge, who have kids who have access to that technology & even more knowledge. older generations did not have as much access to knowledge as we do now. they did not know much about safety and did not care. they were racist, xenophobic, queerphobic child abusers. they lived through wars & never got over living through wars. they are stuck in conservative, minimalistic ways because that is how they forced themselves to live their whole lives. not only that, the first legal rape case was in the 1970s. people didn’t “know” about rape and if they did they kept quiet about it. people still choose to keep quiet about rape, both the assaulted & the enablers. (i didn’t know that COCSA (child on child sexual assault) was a real thing until i saw it in someone’s traumacore blog bio less than a year ago, and i am a COCSA victim.) the things that people refuse to act on in real life are the things that they refuse act on online. sure, they may notice the problem, but ultimately adults refuse to create safe, non-adult, spaces for kids. they state the problem and expect “god know’s what” to do something about it. nothing is ever done about the neglect & safety issue. & among those neglectful adults are the real pedophiles, rapists, zoophiles, etc., & they’ve all found a home online and will never be able to create safe spaces for children because they are pedophiles. (do you see the problem? people are expecting the abusers to do the work for them, enabling further abuse. it’s all ableism.) these adults are neglectful because they do not care about other lives, how their actions affect life, and will not agree that their actions affect those lives. i’ll break it down for you, it’s as simple as this: writing is an action, thinking is an action, typing words is an action, & consuming media is an action. that is reality. what you are doing is real and cemented in what is real. you can’t be cemented in anything but reality because that’s all there is. if you think anything otherwise, it’s a delusion. fiction affects reality because fiction subconsciously influences who we are & always has. we have no control over that, our brains are very complex and we’re able to learn more than we’ll probably ever be aware of. you are not as in control as you think you are. have you forgotten about book burning or the holocaust or anything regarding the destruction of literature? if you’re anti-censorship you should remember. fiction has always affected reality.

there are mainly three groups of people who exist in pro-shipping & radically inclusive spaces. the first is people who believe the past definition of words or are the past definition of words. this first group includes psychiatrists and old psychiatric definitions of terms and paraphiles, pedophiles, zoophiles, necrophiles, rapists, etc. the second is people who believe the past definition of terms but know that technology and intelligence are advancing, so they’re more open to those definitions changing but not if it’s not on their terms & beliefs, so they create their own definitions under the pretense of advancing technology & societal inclusion. this second group includes radical inclusionists, transableists, chronophiles, pro-shippers, endogenic systems, alter-humans, yanderes & everyone who supports them. the third group is “impressionable young minds,” minors who want to be included so much that they are willing to make-believe anything. adults refuse to create spaces for them, invade their spaces, and then complain about doing it, so these kids are coping as best as they know how, and they’re coping badly. the second and third group always have one thing in common: they are traumatized, abused, & neglected and they use their identity as a coping mechanism, using that reason to negatively cope in online spaces. the first group is often those who abuse, neglect, and traumatize, so even the first two groups stay away from them. there are subsets and offsets of the main 3 groups, & i’m now a subset of the 3rd group, an “ex-pro-shipper” who was abused by pro-fiction adults as a minor & finds pro-shipping so disgusting, they wrote a whole essay about it. call me an anti, fanpol, fancop… idc. i am all of those things. (although i don’t really like being associated with cops. one of my abusers was a cop. i feel like the use of “police” is insensitive.) say whatever you want, i’ve heard it all before. yes i sound whiney and childish but i’m an 18 year-old victim of fandom culture who’s a little pissy after learning that kids are still being openly abused online! so as your “fandom mom’s” say, read & make sure the issue hasn’t already been addressed by the op before you confront them for it, because anti’s have been doing this for years (& have been abused by pro-shippers for years) and we still aren’t going to listen to you because you. are. wrong. & you won’t listen to us because you are brainwashed, traumatized, abusers. pro-shipping will never be an inclusive movement, it preys on those most vulnerable. so much for your “inclusion.” you all need help and therapy! NOT an online space to condone abusive and unhealthy lifestyles.

That is not quite what you've said in your original post though. That sounds more like what "terfs" or radfems actually talk about, which is sharing their experiences of sexual assault, or the precautions they've taken in life to avoid risking being sexually assaulted. These women bring up JKR's experience because they can relate, usually. I don't see how that's gross and disgusting. What i find gross and disgusting is the way the Sun (or was it the Daily Mail) published a picture of her ex-husband with the caption "yeah i slapped JK Rowling" the day after she had published her essay, in which she explains her reasons for not adhering to self-identification policies.

And on your fourth point: that has never been "terfs", or radfems's, argument. Most genuine feminists have never argued for trans women to be put in danger, whether it be in places with lower risks (such as public bathrooms) or those places with higher risks (like prisons). What women have asked for is the preservation of female exclusive spaces, which is entirely different than militating for no trans inclusive spaces. You mention shelters: most women requiring those shelters are deeply traumatised by men, and need time to process that trauma away from triggers. Your triggering effect on these women is not a moral failure on their part, no matter how much it hurts. Women have earned, fought for, the right to refuse male involvement in their lives, which were controlled by men for centuries pretty much every place and time on Earth, and continue to be to an extent. And, in the UK at least, that right is still protected by law.

All trying to force women into acceptance and ignoring their boundaries has done is radicalise more and more people *against* trans people and start creating actual transphobia where there used to be mostly compassion and empathy.

Feel free to feel that way, but i don't think this sort of conversation is ever useless even if none of us changes our mind. The point isn't to convince you, the point is to show you that people can disagree with you and have their reasons and these reasons don't necessarily amount to "i hate you, i think you're a mentally deranged freak and a rapist by default, i want you dead". I'm not saying no "terf" feels this way. But i do know that JKR doesn't.

i will say that i think it's gross and somewhat cruel that people feel so entitled to discuss jkr's past sexual assault. i know she's talked about it openly but still. both terfs and anti terfs way too often talk about how she's either entitled to act like this because she's traumatized or go in detail about why they assume her trauma causes her this way but none of us are her therapists. we don't know shit bro. so what if you think her hyper vigilance of trans people comes from trauma? this is meaningless to the discussion. it changes nothing in any way. it doesn't give her a pass or make her look worse. it's ultimately unimportant. why are you bringing it up at all?

Hi! I was scrolling through the otherkin tag (as one does) and saw on an ask you answered that you hated DNIs and didn’t want to go into it on that ask. So I’m curious now- why do you hate DNIs? I don’t have a DNI, and I’m not out to try and change your mind. I’ve just never seen anyone say outright that they didn’t like DNIs, so I’d really like to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I ended up indeed going into it later, because people kept sending in asks about it, so this tag exists now, but in summary:

- I don't necessarily hate the existence of DNIs, because they can be a useful tool in certain circumstances, but I hate that they're starting to become an expectation/requirement and that it's now considered "creepy/suspicious" in a growing number of communities to not have one. It should not be an obligation to basically list your political stances, discourse opinions, and triggers - you know, things you can be attacked for/people can use to hurt you - in any circumstance, least of all on the Internet where anyone can see it.

- For that matter, putting a list of things that can hurt you in public where anyone can see it and know exactly how to target you if they want to hurt/harass you is a bad idea, whether it's a social requirement or not. Full stop. Unless you are in a relatively small group where you know the intentions of the people there (and often not even then!), it is not a good idea to tell people how to effectively hurt you on the Internet.

- I hate it when people put "[x bigoted group] DNI" at the bottom of actual discussion-type content posts (as opposed to, like, aesthetics and stuff), such as people putting "TERFs DNI" at the bottom of posts about feminism, because a) if you're worried about your post appealing to that group, maybe you should reexamine your post's content, b) I've seen firsthand more than once that those groups, TERFs especially, will purposely put "[x] DNI" at the bottom of their crypto-rhetoric posts in order to turn people's critical thinking skills off and make them more likely to accept the crypto rhetoric (foot-in-the-door tactic), and c) even if it's not intentionally malicious like the last point, it still makes it so the OP's post is suddenly immune to criticism, because "hey this comes off a little transphobic" can be met with "how dare you call me a transphobe?? I said 'TERFs DNI' right there!!1!", which, again, has to do with the whole "turning people's critical thinking skills off" problem.

- On a similar note, I hate this recent trend toward performative activism and "racists/transphobes/homophobes/etc. DNI!1!" feels like another permutation of that; I don’t like people demanding/expecting me to announce all my political opinions right out the gate. It should be my decision whether or not I want to share sensitive information about myself (and if you’re scoffing at the idea of a political opinion being “sensitive information” - if it can get you, again, harassed and attacked by a complete stranger, it’s sensitive information).

- People seem to forget that people can, will, and do lie on their DNIs and bios. Predators will lie about being "under 18” in order to make minors they’re interacting with feel safe and let their guard down. TERFs will lie about “transphobes DNI!” to ensure their crypto rhetoric spreads and gets a foot in the door of trans-supporting people’s thought processes. All “it’s to let the people affected by [bigotry] know I’m safe,” which is something I hear sometimes, really means is that the bigot in question only has to put up a DNI to make the people they’re planning to target lower their guard. There is nothing guaranteeing that someone actually believes what their DNI implies they believe. It’s an illusion of safety that just doesn’t - and, really, can’t - exist on the internet, by the internet’s nature. And people thinking they’re safer than they really are is what gets people hurt because they stopped being careful. I’m not saying people need to (or should) live in fear, but relying on DNIs is not a sustainable solution, imho.

- I hate people using DNIs/BYFs as an alternative to blocklists because it often becomes essentially them forcing other people to curate their internet experience for them, and then getting mad (or hurt) when that doesn't work out for reasons that should be obvious. Especially when you take it to the extreme of trying to regulate anyone who reblogs your posts, which I have seen sometimes - you can't seriously expect people to check the OP of every single person whose post they reblog to make sure they agree with your opinions on fandom discourse; that's untenable and it can only lead to people getting hurt. You are the only person who is - and the only person who can be - responsible for your internet experience. Curate your own space.

- as a minor point, "standard DNI criteria" is becoming a popular phrase and it's frankly a useless phrase because there's no such thing. Beyond "racists/homophobes/transphobes" there's literally no telling what a given person includes in what's "standard" - pro- or anti-ship? SFW agereg/petreg blogs? DDLG? Steven Universe fans? inclusionists or exclusionists? There is no "standard." (But then, I feel like how common that phrase is becoming says something about exactly how performative and empty the trend of DNIs is as a whole at this point in time.)

- also as a minor point, I am frankly just not a fan of how often DNIs put things like "Steven Universe fan" and "neonazi" right next to each other like they're the same level of bad. I recognize consciously that this is not the intention, but it sure does come off that way sometimes. It reminds me a bit too much of those callout posts that have six pages about the person's bad opinions on anime or whatever and only then go "oh yeah and also they sexually abused, threatened, and sent their friends to harass a minor and we have screenshot evidence of all of that. anyway here's three more pages about why their art is bad because they drew a 16-year-old in a crop top one time".

And, let me be very clear here: I do not hate people who have DNIs, nor do I want to act like they're never useful. They are, sometimes! But I do feel they're being misused and they're starting to become an expectation and that's a huge problem, for the same reason that people trying to force everyone to put their age/basic personal information in their bios is a problem - it's a safety concern. I am honestly convinced that at this point, in most circumstances, DNIs are doing more harm than good.

If you want to use a DNI, that's up to you, and it's not like I'm gonna harass people about it ('s why I started that "dni critical" tag, so people could who don't want to read this stuff could avoid it) - but I want people to at least understand the risks they're taking depending on how they go about it. If it's useful to you, then good, I'm genuinely glad! It just concerns me how it's being treated by the larger Internet right now.

(And, of course, that's all just my personal subjective opinion - take what you like, leave what you don't. You're more than welcome to disagree with me; this is not a make-or-break argument for me, just one I have strong feelings about xD)

anyway so then. and this is when it gets unhinged. she goes on this server me and a lot of my mutuals n friends r in, camelot, and starts complaining about me.

(in red is the server admin, who was lovely) i asked her to move this convo to dms if she must bc it was rude to bring drama into the server, and she refused, and started insisting that she was being bullied and just wanted to be left alone, so i was like okay lets all block each other and move on, and she refused, continuing to defend everything she was being criticized for

they also said claudio was making them look bad by translating their rants which like... queen if that made them look bad they were already a bad look.

so she keeps pinging people and replying to shit despite everyone else at this point begging her to just drop it and call it a stalemate

imagine this but around n around for like an hour. also she repeatedly got me and valentine confused it was super funny. also she claimed it was an invasion of her privacy for valentine to go on her public blog and look at the things she openly said and rbd there

so the server got put in slow mode and she KEPT GOING even though everyone was just begging her to stop and not even responding

as u can see, around this point we just started spamming her with emoji reactions. she announced she was leaving then went back to arguing a full three times before finally dipping from the server

then she continued complaining about us and calling us puriteens in her tags (trying to make it a proshipper v anti thing i guess lol?)

for literally months before finally remaking. also in that time she got in an argument about how the crusades were fine actually. italianphobia works hard but she works harder i guess

anyway i prolly left out a lot but thats the italian saga
