A. Not a man.
B. We were going around in a circle and people were supposed to make comments and suggestions on other people's topics. I went through the same process when it was my turn.
The point of the exercise was to get feedback before writing either a 20-25 page paper (her) or a 40-45 page paper (me).
The process was intended to make people's papers better by suggesting ways to improve the thesis statement and/or suggesting areas of research. Helping each other change or retool your paper topic is very much part of what we were doing as a class.
Lots of people adjusted their topics based on suggestions and criticism from the group, most o whom were not men.
C. If I were about to spend a trimester researching and writing a paper and I had a blind spot like that I would want to know before I started.
If my thesis topic could be easily refuted by the existence of a book that's been around since ancient times, trust me I would absolutely want to know.
She could have amended her topic from only Cristian would do ransoming (easily disproven) to one about how Christian thought influenced the ways Medieval people thought about ransoming, something people have opinion about based on period sources.
D. The Iliad exists and repeatedly references captured soldiers being ransomed. Like, it's literally a fact. You can go read it yourself.
E. Arguing that women are incapable of using evidence and logic still looks pretty misogynistic to me. It really, really does. @icantchooze, are you really claiming that the bioessentialist belief that only men can argue rationally based on facts and that women function entirely on vibes and mystical knowledge? Because that looks like the side you are on.
F. She picked a history topic.
If you don't at least try to use existing evidence in history, what even are you doing? You can write historical fantasy, or fantasy, or alternate universe fiction that way. I love those things and they are valuable, but what they aren't are historical research papers appropriate to a 400 level college class.
You can have lots of opinions about what the existing evidence means. You can change opinions about what things mean as new evidence comes in or new perspectives are applied. Every historian has blind spots and biases that's why there is a constant need for new researchers with new perspectives. A diversity of opinions is essential to doing history.
I still think you have to base it on information we do have like archaeology, written sources, etc.. Period written sources always have biases too, which one has to account for. Details also get added and lost over time.
We can never know anything is 100% true and complete. It doesn't mean we shouldn't do our best.
Throwing out the evidence we do have completely in order to make an argument we know isn't true leads to nightmares like we are experiencing in America right now. Lots of men never use logic, facts, etc. to form opinions. I can list lots of irrational men making disastrous decisions based on feels and nonsense they made up in public life right now. That doesn't make them not men.
No gender is incapable or logic. No gender is immune to the rejection of logic.
G. A lot of feminist theory has been written since the second wave.
It turns out that actually standing by "men and women are not inherently very different" is a reliable way to bother absolutely everyone. Left or right, cis or trans, feminist or misogynist, all cling to the binary for dear life.

it's the wanna be blue train anon.. uh. I feel like in my last hc thingy i focused to much on guest so.. i'll dig around in my messy brain and find other people
For some reason I feel Jason is autistic (coming from someone who hasn't seen anything of Jason outside of forsaken..) and has high sensitivity to noise.. he only gets angry at loud things and loathes people who are loud.. like Guest (yelling) and Chance (gun). Idk tho just me?
C00lkidd and the other kiddling flavors will play with 1x betrayed skin's hair or sit on their shoulders.
John Doe reminds me of a u-haul truck.. specifically the older ones that are super long and have those square headlights like older jeep wranglers
1x feels something other than anger when they see her creator in pain. :3
Idk if i said this in my last little rant but I see Guest and Noob being like father-child
Y'all know how 1x says "Join me" or smth like that? Elliot would take the offer. Coming from a person who was raised with an emt.. (and an elliot main) He'd take the offer.
I'm half stealing this hc from someone.. (Nikkō i think is the right person) Taph and John Doe are siblings cuz I see Bulider as a father figure to both..
I believe the Spectre would block out John Doe from seeing Builderman and Taph normally just like Jane
All of the Forsaken Characters are neurodivergent in some way.. actually.. this is turning into a mental disorder hc thingy now.
wait is that hateful..
i'm diagnosed with some stuff..
eh.. i feel a bit bad but..
i wanna project.
Noob: Autism, Selective Mutism, Anxiety of some flavor
Elliot: Anger issues? Depression.
Shedletsky: actually.. he's kinda just.. normal? to me? like there's def some depression but like idk maybe ADHD?? idk man
Chance: Autism.. it's the headphones and glasses. i'm sorry.
007n7: Depression.. uh.. autism? like very high functioning to the point it wouldn't be noticeable under certain circumstances oh and can't forget abandonment issues
Deuskkar? Blue pumpkin: Autism.. idk man maybe like sprinkle in some ADHD but they seem pretty autism to me idk why.. prolly just i see them speaking all fancy and being the grammar police
Taph: Autism, Mutism, Depression, Anxiety in any flavor
Guest1337: PTSD, Autism, Anxiety (social), Selective Mutism, Depression.. uhmm heavy on the PTSD like that man's needs years of therapy
Two Time: is religious psychosis a mental illness?? I could say autism.. idk I got options here but i'll stick to the ones I said.. and sprinkle in some anxiety like it's salt in a wound yk?
Builderman: no clue but AuDHD. that's all that comes to my silly mind
i cannot for the like of me think of any other survivors.. i feel like i missed one
Kiddlings: autism, pstd what do you want me to say?
Boss: he's an anomaly.. autism? idk
1x: hate. that's totally a mental illness /silly
John Doe: he's feral. maybe like non-infection him having anxiety but idk man
Jason: as I said earlier. Autism.
god i feel so mean for doing that- but hey. it's my headcannons
anyone else on the train of blue pumpkin being grammar police or is that just me??
Sincerely, Blue Train Anon i think that's my chosen tag..
elliot got tired of the minimum wage 💔
plot twist everyone got forsaken because they were all different flavors of The Tism . the spectre is ash ketchum-ing their asses /pos

Hii! First time asker here! I hope you're having a good day! :)
I think I have a bunch of questions here but feel free to answer whichever feels more interesting lol. I apologize if this is a tad bit long, I always love to rant if given the opportunity, even if it's just an "ask" haha.
Okay so first, outside of Kriselle, what are your thoughts on other ships that involve either Noelle or Kris, such as Krusie, Suselle etc. Do you like something about these ships as well or is the drama of Kriselle just too tough to beat? lol
And the next question would be, what do you think the reaction of Noelle's family would be to seeing their daughter visibly changing into someone she really isn't and getting closer to Kris again, abruptly and seemingly out of nowhere, for example her parents, ofcourse they probably wouldn't know that the soul is involved here but i'd love to see if some of them would see this as some odd type of relationship or something toxic outright. In general I'd love to see how you personally envision the future of Kriselle, especially the snowgrave one and how it would affect those close to Noelle, since obviously they'd notice the changes! And don't even get me started on if Dess returned and found out... Wuhoh Kris would sure feel the wrath of the wifflebat once again even if it isn't their fault lol!
re: other ships… i do like krusie a lot and if kriselle somehow didn’t exist it would probably be my #1 tbh… like many others i enjoy them not necessarily in a “they should be in a relationship together” way but more so “they should kiss for fun and recreation and then turn around and claim they’re not dating” They are quite goofy. i Do like them
suselle is fine and i generally find it wildly inoffensive which is maybe why it doesnt interest me as much LMAO. that and also because kris is not there and i think i just like kris a lot and want them to be there Somehow
also, because other people have asked, i think krusielle is good too, i like drawing them on occasion, but people often make it into like, Them Being In A Conscious Polycule, like Realistically, which is still fine but inside my head i think “ohhhh they’re not Nearly functional enough to make that work. they all have shit to work out first. kris especially” (which like, you can apply to all the ships, but almost all krusielle polycule depictions i see are very positive and happy) so like maybe when they’re all adults and their Brains have developed there will be less of a chance for it to end in disaster.
its also a personal itty bitty gripe of mine whenever people in ship discussions simply go “krusielle is the answer! make them a polycule they all have two hands!” which again There Is Absolutely Nothing Wrong With It Whatsoever and I Like Krusielle . but inside my head im like Wait! All their personal issues! Wait! The unresolved strain that exists within some of these relationships! Wait! You’re pushing aside analyses of their individual relationships in favor of treating Krusielle as a bandaid to quell ship discussions! Wait! Wait!!!!!
its not actually a big deal, just something ive noticed with time, especially from younger fans… it is ok to dissect each of their relationships individually… and entering a conversation about say, kriselle, and inserting susie in there to call it krusielle because you Feel Bad shes being Left Out… doesnt really add much to the discussion in the end… susie deserves more than to just be placed in the corner like “I too am in this relationship”… if youre gonna be a krusielle fan go all in!!!
(also because just in general i figure its good etiquette to not go and barge into people’s ship conversations to talk about a completely different one, but people never seem to follow that… like even in reverse it would be kinda crappy of me to go up to people talking about krusielle and be like OK BUT KRISELLE THOUGH!!!)
didnt mean for all that to turn into a rant, i say it all lightheartedly i promise…
for the second question, i think its interesting how much noelle’s parents DONT seem to notice that something is wrong (or if carol knows, she doesnt seem to be trying to stop it) just that noelle is Feeling Off and thinking about kris again. its funny how both rudy and carol each kind of separately give their “blessings” for kris to take her to the festival, probably because it’s kris and they’ve never done something to really hurt her, right… haha….
as for what might happen in the future, im not all that sure… ive said something similar before but i have to wonder how possible it even is for them to have a future in the weird route, but maybe thats just because im convinced that one or both of them will die (or something similar such as ascending to a higher plane and becoming a concept. or something) at the end, maybe, idk, i really do not know how much the rest of the route will differ from here… i want to be hopeful that there are real big changes to the ending but (shrug)
on that topic, i thought it was kind of funny how the chapter 2 weird route does the same thing as the UT no mercy route and cuts all the silly stuff to rocket you straight through the rest of the game, going Serious Mode and skipping so many things. and then chapter 3 is totally back to normal LMAO. which like, of course it is, noelle’s not there so what could Really drastically change about it, but it’s still that lack of change that makes me sit and wonder just how much of the story could actually change bc of the weird route… (again i obviously hope its a lot but Shrug)
im also kind of curious to see how catti will react to noelle being different, especially because she specifically entrusted kris with keeping her safe… still really hoping she becomes relevant soon qxwhfjgjrbwhc

[“H. How to pick up a straight woman, revisited (you weren't fooling anyone)
The easiest way to pick up a straight woman, which is so obvious you'll be embarrassed you didn't think of it, is to pick up her boyfriend and/ or husband. Male heterosexuals, for reasons no one really understands, find the practice of lesbianism— particularly when utilizing their favorite film stars or own personal girlfriends— a particularly appealing way of spending time, second perhaps only to receiving blow jobs. In this, they are united with their homosexual brothers, except for the lesbian part.
Surprisingly many female heterosexuals attached to males are willing to please their boyfriends in this fashion. Of course, there is no reason, other than logic and common decency, to expect the female in question to admit the pleasure she may receive from this hobby of her boyfriend's— particularly if it has ever been a little hobby of hers in those bouncy college days or other times in her excitingly varied life.
Should you not wish to be offended or disappointed by the degree of open enthusiasm your heterosexual displays about having carnal knowledge of with or on you, it pays to adopt a hardened veneer so as to allow certain statements typical of her kind to bounce off your chest without injuring either your self-esteem or any future chances of being called upon for another go at enhancing her sacred relationship.
These statements will usually take the form of" This isn't really my thing";" I'm not into women"; “I'm only doing this because I really really love Ted"; and “Oooooh! That was— I mean, not that I'd ever want to do it again, but God, you're ... sweet."
There are several possible responses to such clearly desperate, if insulting, statements. You may consider a reply along the lines of, “I don't know what it is; I usually find sleeping with women much wilder, more uninhibited and multiorgasmic than this!" or a classically simple, “I never want to do that again." These insults to your female heterosexual's performance and appeal will, if she's a woman worth having, effectively provoke her to prove to you, and herself, that you very much enjoyed sleeping with her, whatever you may think you're pulling now. No doubt she will even be forced to make you repeat various acts until she's satisfied it's clear to all concerned that while she may not choose to enjoy what you're doing together, you can't deny that you find it fairly ... compelling. You should feel free to continue denying your enjoyment, so that she will be forced to call you late into the evenings to reiterate her point, during which time you can explain to her that the phone truly isn't the place for such discussions so why doesn't she come over so you can clear the air once and for all?
Back to her male “companion" and the beauteous inclusive practices therewith.
Once you have completed the obligatory presex warm-up— I always find a group sing-along to a Neil Diamond offering, particularly “I Am, I Said," serves as an extremely effective icebreaker— and the Coke, hummus, and tabouli are gone, it is time to get down to satisfying your partner.
(Notice my use of the singular. I'm sure you're perceptive enough to grasp the precise party to whom I am referring.) The male member of your triangle is not your concern in any way, though you may need to get this particular item of business cleared up-front or trouble may ensue. A signed contract may prove helpful.
Start by giving your female heterosexual a massage. This will convey to her that you are not the leering barracuda interested only in your own gratification that she has been led to believe from all the brochures, and it will simultaneously serve the function of leading her male partner to believe he is, in fact, watching the pornographic movie he has fantasized seeing his entire life up until this very moment.
Once your female partner is completely relaxed, you must take some kind of action to rid yourself, if only temporarily, of her mate; “John, go get the scented oils, please," is particularly useful, especially if in order to obey you he has to leave the apartment and go purchase the product in question, preferably in the next state.
Your goal once John is off on his little errand, by the way, is not to score some brief spasm of heart and muscle but, rather, to share the remarkable transformation of personality and life that is the inevitable result of having sex with a woman, with you the kind of sex she'd barely dreamed was possible but which, now that she's finally experienced it, will make all other sex pale in comparison, rendering her useless to anyone but you for the rest of her days, or at least until you're tired of her.
Perhaps those of you now squirming feel there is something inherently distasteful about attempting to seduce a non-homosexual female. We are here to disabuse you of that notion. Fairly few humans, female humans in particular, are purely monosexual- that is, either hetero or homo- and there isn't a woman or man alive who wouldn't be in some way delighted to discover there is an alternative to the much- maligned, if debatably winsome, male species. Indeed, by successfully introducing someone to the joys of lesbos, you are showing her a side of the world, herself, and her expanded options that can only enhance her self-esteem and muscle tone, not to mention her disposition, especially after a few more trips around the block with you as personal lesbian tour guide.
Once you realize that showing heterosexual women the options that await them is a remarkably altruistic gesture, you may feel the need for strict adherence to moral codes. Your heterosexual female, by contrast, will expect you to behave in a lustful, predatory fashion, as seen on TV, and will, in fact, be disappointed when you don't.
Go ahead and disappoint her. The most effective way to neutralize the average heterosexual's trepidations about the desire she assumes you feel for her is by not making a pass at her, while cheerfully sharing the fact that you're showing your other gal pals things she's only dreamed about, things you'd of course be happy to show her if only she weren't a Montague and you a Capulet.
Should you desire to begin dating your "heterosexual" (whom you may now consider a bisexual or prelesbian, though don't tell her that), you must not in any way disparage her relationship with her male companion; in fact, you should encourage it. You are not interested in harming the beautiful thing she has found; you are the kind of person who takes love where you can find it, and frankly, the selection just isn't that plentiful for you to turn down a good specimen of female raw material just because she requires some adjustment.
By keeping a cheerful attitude about her heterosexual hobbies, you can relieve her of much of the burden of guilt she is certain to feel; as she is expecting you to judge her for her relationships with men, she will not be able to contain her gratitude and appreciation when you do not. Eventually, of course, the fact that you are not jealous will start to bother her, but depending on how serious you wish your relationship to be, you can always choose an opportune moment to let slip the fact that you want her all to yourself, making sure to take back your immature, possessive declaration immediately on uttering it.”]

I love Velamir. I’m terrified of Velamir. I want to run but I don’t know if my feet would take me towards or away from Velamir. I hope they’re not offended when I try to sneak ear plugs so I can think clearly. Half curious what they’d do once they know I’m still resisting
(This is about the yandere Velamir fic you posted)
[[Several ask under read more!]]
[Velamir sounds like if Kalymir and Velamor had a gem fusion. Horrifying.]
Velamor just needs to calm down. Part of what makes him so terrifying and hazardous in that story is his excitement, which manifests in his influence making people rabid.
Provided he finally starts winding down, things will become less intense and less dangerous for everyone involved. In order to calm down however, you need to come around to the idea of his love.
Your resistance is very frustrating to an angel who knows he could snuff it out of you with the snap of a finger. Velamor was hoping you'd see his reluctance to "pierce you"* as the sign of good will that it's meant to be.
While Velamor can typically be considered patient by others, this is erroneous- As he has a particularly hard time processing anger when it comes from love.
You hurt him so, so so much.
* Piercing refers to the act where a seraphim induces strong infatuation in one or more people, in order to facilitate the creation of amorous bonds. This can be achieved with an actual arrow and bow, or through specific touches.
Tumblr media
Sure, but have you considered that he's sleeping right next to you now? You can't expect Vel to keep his distance now that he's found you.
The first time, you are given a vow of trust from the angel, particularly because a seraphim who spends enough time with a lesser knows that said lesser will go through mild withdrawal without them around. Break that vow, break their heart, and you're fetched back by a wailing angel who can barely control his own enraged shaking.
Why would you hurt him? Just why?
The next time, his larger set of wings is quite literally wrapped around you. They function as his halo, so good luck prying them open. Even the mental resilience you'd need to start struggling against such a loving feeling is already so exhausting...
Tumblr media
"Marriage" is what the reader thinks will happen. Angels don't marry the way humans or monsters do, they were united by their siadar.
Vel is well aware these ceremonies can no longer be performed the way they used to, being that only someone like Miara can officialize his union. They explicitly need Miara's permission to have this become official, which will land you at the island for an unspecified amount of time.
Miara is likely all too happy to officialize such a thing, delighted that some angels are finally finding their own autonomy one way or another.
Your union is performed an altar still, with an audience of residents and mostly other angels, Miara herself will speak at the occasion. Velamor is given the choice to pierce you, or to have other seraphim pierce the two of you into eternal love. Given how final this procedure is, Vel will take some time to propose the union to you, because he wants it to go swimmingly.
There is an equivalent to a honeymoon for celestials as well, where they're allowed to make their own nests at a certain height. Usually, this would be where the first reproductive efforts are made, but since the chances of you conceiving are low without a nudge from Miara, Vel will treat it as a time for uninterrupted love at both your leisure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aw, you're welcum! <:7
If you haven't been here for a while, the current number of angel characters is 4: Belo; Jonesy; Sol and Vel. (A fifth one remains unintroduced but has been seen on the blog)
While Velamor will not deny you the opportunity to feel his form (but come now, don't fondle him in public), don't drum on his chest while he's speaking or his voice will crack- Something very embarrassing for a seraphim.

house md rewatch: 2x23, "who's your daddy"
Tumblr media
guys, do you think house md is interested in fatherhood/paternity...
tw for talk of self-harm.
...because it's literally all they talk about these days lol. i'm not complaining! it's multilayered and consistently interesting and grievances house to no end - what more could you want? and in 2x23, i think it functions first and foremost as another confrontation with house as the Difficult Character Of All Time. does his pain (physical and emotional) justify the depths of his worst behavior?
no, not really, but we still feel bad for him. house md is a wonder of the world when it comes to manufacturing sympathy, i tell you.
Tumblr media
in a very abrupt (and a little sloppy, imo) way, house md introduces house's propensity for morphine, which we haven't even seen referenced since the end of season 1 during his infarction. it's definitely not outside the realm of possibility for him to have morphine, and if the pain day is that bad, sure, he'd take some. but jumping from pill popping to taking a day off the shoot up? that's kinda wild. i do like the anxiety it sparks in viewers, though. maybe it's that jarring shot of his morphine collection that reinvigorates our sympathy, plus the painful lengths he has to take to get to it.
Tumblr media
and because i love religious imagery in house md, i have to make the point that this is giving house at the altar of relief, reaching for salvation that is impure because it just repeats the cycle of pain. hell yeah.
obviously house's pain majorly affects how he treats the patient, leona; he's at his most cruel (but, again, if i'm dying, my doctor can break my finger if necessary lol). but there's 2 factors at play that lead to this weird mix of brutality and sympathy throughout 2x23: leona's lie about crandall being her father. i think this has less to do with house knowing crandall when they were younger, and more so with house seeing himself in leona both regarding her pain and her lies about her dad (more on crandall & house later!)
Tumblr media
throughout the episode, the fellows are obsessed with leona's hallucinations (rightfully so), while house is obsessed with legitimizing her pain, whether or not it's related to/a product of her underlying illness. he and cameron dispute the root cause of the supposed hallucination during the differential, during which she asks: "why are you so bent on her not having a hallucination?", and house only relents with the suggestion that: "what if her hallucination was caused by pain...i'm proving that her hallucinations are a consistent response to pain."
this is house's way of enforcing that he is in pain, and that it's not simply psychosomatic. we've addressed this debate before, and it will only get more and more potent as the series progresses. this feels like he holds empathy for leona (he does), but his actions don't reflect as much, since he goes on to break her finger to force her into a hallucination:
Tumblr media
imagine someone doing this to a victim of hurricane katrina who lost her whole family. what the fuck? we are certainly being asked to suspend our disbelief in 2x23.
this cruelty comes as a result of the other reason house sees himself within leona - her lies to crandall. wilson tries to pull on this thread, but house (and the episode itself) shuts it down. we only know thus far that house hates his dad, but i think 2x23 is an adept precursor to 5x04, where house learns that john house wasn't his biological father. lies surrounding fatherhood have a certain potency to house that he can't abide. i do think that some old kindness for crandall is at play here, especially for the whole former girlfriend thing, but it's not the leading cause of house's behavior here.
returning to the conversation house has with the fellows re: hallucinations, i have a Reach i'd like to share. when chase asks why house is walking back and forth down the hall during a differential, cameron says that "his leg hurts. walking takes his mind off it."
Tumblr media
this makes sense given house's behavior at work - and this is why i like the episode intro so much. i don't think house is taking his mind off his leg at all; he's repeating a pattern that we know doesn't work, trying to work through his pain. he's fixating on it, and it's affecting his behavior.
i think this habit is self-harm adjacent because it's been proven that his leg won't heal (not by conventional methods). house knows this, and pushes himself into deeper pain that continues the cycle of drug abuse, motivating him to reach for morphine. the fellows wouldn't know this since they've only seen him in the workplace, apart from cameron, where house still tried to control those environments. it's another instance of audience/house solidarity, which i've come to enjoy so much.
this is not giving "distraction" for me:
Tumblr media
who i think does understand/interpret at least some of the subtleties at play in 2x23 is wilson. he's a bit "i, too, am in this episode" here, but he also combines one of their shared plot devices - food - with drawing honesty from house. he plops the chicken mole (i just love how he delivers that line) in front of house to tempt him into being truthful, and that truth is also complemented by a visual slip - house clutches his leg in pain.
Tumblr media
when he confides in wilson, literally about the fact that he cheated with crandall's former girlfriend and subliminally about why he's so nasty and invested in this case, he gets rewarded. this is so silly but so typical of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but this isn't the most exciting dose of vulnerability in 2x23 by a longshot. while the connection to the episode's larger topic, fatherhood, is quite on the nose, i don't care at all because this is ground zero for house and cuddy's physical intimacy via the fertility treatment shots. are we objectifying cuddy like there's no tomorrow? yes. is there actually a somewhat plot-relevant intent behind that objectification? somehow...yes. doesn't excuse it, but it's worth noting. yeah i be posting this:
Tumblr media
house md is posing another audience challenge! seeing the sincerity and vulnerability between house and cuddy beneath their 2 relentless masks tailor made for one another - masks of Being Unbothered. if they can keep up the facade that this is strictly medical, if they can make jokes about how hot cuddy is and leave it at that, moments like these don't have to mean anything more...right...?
my notes read "house and cuddy begin their intimacy rituals, always a distance/one layer removed until s6." in 2x23, it's the donor files and the fertility treatments. if they have some kind of middle ground - OR, SOME MAY SAY, A MIDDLE MAN? WHO WILL GROW INCREASINGLY OBSESSED WITH THEIR SEX LIVES? BEACUSE HE'S A FREAK? - then they can maintain their status quo. i really like how, in a lot of ways so far, the house/wilson dynamic is reversed with house/cuddy; we meet the former as established best friends where nothing is off limits, while we get to watch that dynamic unfold between the latter.
also uh. be more heavy-handed here. you can't!
Tumblr media
cuddy almost tries to cross the middle ground and confess to house (imo) that she would like to consider house as a donor, but when she's right at the finish line, she relents. she doesn't want to risk what is sacred between them, and only ends up thanking him for his help. it's crazy how tender this scene is with just a few words and a lot of confusion on house's part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lastly, i want to highlight how 2x23 subtly breaks the "change = impossible" rule with house when we first meet him. it's quick, but it reminds us of the very crucial greg house timeline, that we've only known him post-infarction. as we learn about crandall and house's friendship, as well as the case at hand, crandall says to house: "you haven't changed;" a minute later, he says "i heard about your leg."
Tumblr media
house following joke also speaks to his walking being less about a distraction, and more so a desperate attempt at alleviating the pain, which we know can't be remedied that way: "just gonna walk it off."
crandall's remark complicates our greg house timeline, as well as harkens back to wilson's remarks from way back when (1x11 "detox," i think). house has changed because of the leg pain, but that's not the only factor, nor was his personality completely upended by the infarction or his addiction. he's a muddy mess of all of the above, and there's no one that frustrates more than house himself.
overall i enjoyed this episode. i actually watched it somewhat recently with my dad sort of at random. i like how it gears us up for 2x24 by reminding us of the extent of house's chronic pain, since that is the climax that season 2 ends on, ultimately.

#27 2025 : summer diary : mental health glow up !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're probably reading this after scrolling endlessly because your brain won't stfu . You've got seventeen tabs open , three different conversations going, and somehow you still feel completely disconnected from everything. sound familiar ikr .
our generation (genz mostly) is dealing with levels of anxiety, depression, and mental exhaustion that previous generations literally cannot comprehend. We're living through a mental health crisis while being told to "just think positive" and "practice self-care" like buying a face mask is going to fix the fact that we're all collectively losing our minds.
But this crisis is also our opportunity. We're the first generation to normalize talking about mental health, to actually prioritize it, to understand that success without mental wellness is just a fancy form of self-destruction. And that's exactly why ur mental glow up it's inevitable if you're willing to do the work sweetheart .
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: ur brain on social media
You wake up, grab your phone, and within five minutes you've seen someone's vacation in Hawaii with their friends , someone else's promotion announcement, someone get 4.0 GPA without even suffering , and a video of someone younger than you talking about his business and u see allll of this before you've even brushed your teeth like this your brain has already decided you're behind in life.
This is not normal. This is not how human brains are supposed to function ofc . We're literally rewiring our neural pathways to constantly compare ourselves to everyone else's highlight reel while sitting in our own behind-the-scenes mess no wonder we're all anxious.
The dopamine hit you get from social media is the same chemical reaction your brain has to gambling, shopping, and other addictive behaviors. Every notification is a slot machine pull. Every like is a small win that makes you crave more. And the platforms know this they're designed to keep you scrolling, comparing, and ultimately feeling not good enough so you'll keep coming back.
But the first move u need to do is to
☆ Recognize that your attention is literally being sold to the highest bidder. Every time you pick up your phone mindlessly, you're giving away your most valuable resource ur mental energy. Start treating your attention like the precious commodity it is.
☆ Detox doesn't mean going completely offline (because let's be realistic we're not doing that ). It means being intentional , unfollow accounts that make you feel inadequate. Mute keywords that trigger your anxiety follow creators who actually add value to your life instead of just making you feel FOMO. Your feed should inspire you, not depress you. (I already have a blog abt it click here !)
Chapter 2: The confidence paradox
Can we talk about how toxic the whole "fake it till you make it" mentality is? You've probably been told that confidence is about pretending you're not scared, acting like you have it all figured out, and never showing weakness. That's not confidence that's performance anxiety with a marketing budget. (LIKE SOME YOUTUBERS)
Real confidence is about feeling scared and doing it anyway. It's about knowing that you can handle whatever comes your way because you've handled hard things before. It's about being comfortable with not having all the answers while still believing in your ability to figure things out.
what actually builds confidence:
☆ competence : u can't think your way into feeling confident. You have to do things that prove to yourself that you're capable. Start with something small that you can actually accomplish. Learn a new skill. Finish a project. Have a difficult conversation. Each time you follow through on something you said you'd do, you're making a deposit in your confidence bank account TOUCH GRASS ...
☆ Stop waiting for permission to take up space : You don't need anyone's approval to pursue your goals, speak up in meetings, or believe in yourself. The people who seem naturally confident aren't special they've just gotten comfortable with being uncomfortable. They've accepted that growth requires stepping outside your comfort zone regularly.
☆ Document your wins : ur brain is evolutionarily wired to focus on threats and problems that's how we survived as a human. But in the modern world, this negativity bias is working against you. Actively counteract it by writing down three things you did well each day. Train your brain to notice what's going right instead of just what's going wrong stop talking about what u did bad think abt the goodies they happened in the day .
Chapter 3: emotional Intelligence
Let's address the elephant in the room: our generation is INCREDIBLY emotionally intelligent in some ways and completely emotionally illiterate in others. We can write paragraph-long texts analyzing someone's Instagram story, but we can't identify our own emotions beyond "good" or "bad" .
Emotional intelligence isn't just about understanding feelings it's about managing them effectively. It's about not letting your emotions drive your decisions while still honoring them as valid information. It's about being able to regulate your own emotional state instead of depending on external validation to feel okay.
☆ Start by getting specific about what you're actually feeling. Instead of "I feel anxious," try "I feel overwhelmed by my workload and worried about disappointing people." Instead of "I feel sad," try "I feel disappointed that my plans didn't work out and frustrated with myself for not having a backup plan." The more specific you get, the easier it becomes to address the root cause.
☆ Learn to sit with discomfort without immediately trying to fix it, distract from it, or numb it. Our generation has been conditioned to avoid negative emotions at all costs. Sad? Watch Netflix. Anxious? Scroll social media. Angry? Online shop. But emotions are information - they're trying to tell you something important about what you need or what's not working in your life.
☆ Practice the pause. Before you react to something that triggers you, take a moment to breathe and ask yourself: "What am I actually feeling right now? What do I need? How can I respond in a way that aligns with who I want to be?" This simple practice can transform your relationships and your relationship with yourself don't say "it won't WORK" just try it .
Chapter 4: rewriting ur origin story
you get to decide what your story means. You're not a victim of your circumstances, your past, or your current situation. You're the author of your own narrative, and you can rewrite it whenever you want.
Most people are living their lives based on stories they wrote about themselves when they were literally children. "I'm not a people person." "I'm not creative." "I'm not leadership material." These stories made sense when you were eight years old, but they don't have to define your entire life. ur past doesn't determine your future unless you let it. That failure you're still beating yourself up about? That's data, not destiny. That time you got rejected? That's redirection, not reflection of your worth. That mistake you made? That's education, not evidence that you're not capable of growth.
☆ Stop introducing yourself by your limitations. Instead of "I'm not good at public speaking," try "I'm developing my public speaking skills." Instead of "I'm so disorganized," try "I'm learning systems that work for me." The language you use to describe yourself literally shapes your reality. Value urself
☆ Create a vision of your future self that excites you. Not what you think you should want, not what would impress other people, but what genuinely lights you up. Who do you want to become? How do you want to feel? What kind of impact do you want to have? Get so clear on this vision that you can make decisions based on it today.
Chapter 5: Building an ti ti ti-fragile mental Resilience
Resilience isn't about being tough all the time. It's about being flexible, adaptable, and able to bounce back quickly when life hits you with unexpected challenges. life is going to hit you with unexpected challenges and this is life y'know . Ppl be like " nooo i don't deserve this" and start victimizing themselves like pooks move on this is why u are in this earth .
The goal isn't to avoid failure or discomfort ofc it's to get better at handling them. Every time you face a setback and recover from it, you're building evidence that you can handle hard things. You're literally training your brain to see challenges as opportunities for growth instead of threats to your wellbeing.
☆ Develop a growth mindset about everything, including your mental health. Instead of "I'm depressed," try "I'm going through a depressive episode." Instead of "I'm anxious," try "I'm experiencing anxiety right now." This it's accurate. Mental health struggles are temporary states not permanent identities. ( I have PTSD but I'm not building my life around it ofc I move on even when it's hard we need to LOVE LIFE )
☆ Build your distress tolerance gradually. Start with small discomforts and work your way up. Take cold showers. Exercise when you don't feel like it. Have difficult conversations. Sit with boredom without immediately reaching for your phone. Each time you choose growth over comfort, you're strengthening your mental resilience.
☆ Create a support system that actually supports you. This means having people in your life who celebrate your successes without jealousy, who call you out when you're being self-destructive, and who remind you of your strength when you forget. Quality over quantity you need a few ride-or-die people not a bunch of surface-level connections the healthier the friends are the healthier and happier u become.
Chapter 6: The daily practice revolution
Transformation doesn't happen in dramatic moments of it happens in the mundane, daily choices you make when nobody's watching. The people who successfully glow up mentally are the ones who show up for themselves consistently, even when they don't feel like it.
☆ Morning routines are IMPORTANT, but not for the reasons you think. It's not about waking up at 4 AM or drinking celery juice It's about starting your day with intention instead of reaction. Before you check your phone, before you do anything else, take a moment to set an intention for the day. How do you want to feel? How do you want to show up? What's one thing you can do today that your future self will thank you for?
☆ Practice gratitude, but make it real. Instead of generic "I'm grateful for my family," get specific. "I'm grateful for the way my mom always knows exactly what to say when I'm having a crisis." "I'm grateful for my friend who sends me memes when I'm stressed." Specific gratitude rewires your brain to notice the good things in your life more readily.
☆ Checking in with yourself multiple times throughout the day. Set random alarms on your phone that remind you to pause and ask: "How am I feeling right now? What do I need?" This simple practice helps you stay connected to yourself instead of just reacting to whatever's happening around you.
☆ each day by acknowledging your wins. Before you go to sleep, think about three things you did well that day. They don't have to be big maybe you were patient with a difficult person, or you chose a healthy lunch, or you had a good conversation. Celebrating your wins programs your subconscious mind to look for more opportunities to succeed.
Chapter 7: navigating relationships during ur glow up
The TRUTH is when you start changing, some people in your life aren't going to like it. They might make comments about you "trying to be different" or "thinking you're better than everyone else." This resistance usually comes from their own insecurities, not from anything you're doing wrong.
☆ You're going to outgrow some relationships and that's okay OKKKKK . Not every person is meant to be in your life forever. Some people are there for a season, some for a reason, and some for a lifetime. Learning to distinguish between these categories will save you a lot of emotional energy.
☆ Set boundaries without feeling guilty. You don't owe anyone access to your time, energy, or mental space. You can love someone from a distance. You can support someone without sacrificing your own wellbeing. You can be kind without being available 24/7.
☆ Surround yourself with people who are also committed to growth. This doesn't mean you can't have friends who are in different life stages, but it does mean prioritizing relationships with people who inspire you to be better instead of people who make you feel comfortable staying the same.
☆ Learn to communicate your needs clearly and directly. Stop expecting people to read your mind. Stop dropping hints and hoping they'll figure it out. If you need something ask for it. If something bothers you, address it. If you're struggling, reach out for help. Clear communication is a superpower that will transform all your relationships and always say "thank u" after they help with smthg.
Chapter 8: the glow up mindset shift
The biggest difference between people who successfully transform their mental health and those who stay stuck is mindset. It's not about being positive all the time it's about being realistic about challenges while maintaining faith in your ability to handle them.
☆ seeing yourself as broken and needing to be fixed. You're not a project to be completed. You're a human being who's constantly evolving, learning, and growing. Mental health isn't a destination you arrive at - it's a practice you commit to daily.
☆ Embrace the messy middle. The space between where you are and where you want to be is uncomfortable, uncertain, and often frustrating. But that's where all the growth happens. That's where you develop the skills, resilience, and confidence that will serve you for the rest of your life.
☆ Focus on progress, not perfection. You don't need to have it all figured out. You don't need to be the best version of yourself tomorrow. You just need to be a slightly better version of yourself than you were yesterday. Small, consistent improvements compound over time into massive transformations.
☆ Remember that everyone is figuring it out as they go. Those people who seem to have it all together are winging it too. They're just comfortable with uncertainty and committed to growth. You can be that person too.
Your mental glow up start rn !
This isn't just another self-help guide you'll read and forget about. This is your roadmap to becoming the mentally strong, emotionally intelligent, authentically confident person you know you can be. But here's the thing reading about it isn't enough u have to actually do the work glowing up mentally is a journey with up n down . Start today. Start with one small habit. Start with one act of courage. Start with one moment of self-compassion. ur future self is counting on you to begin, and they're going to be so proud of you for taking this first step.
The mental glow up it's about becoming more of who you already are underneath all the doubt, fear, and limiting beliefs. It's about uncovering the confident, resilient, authentic person who's been waiting for their moment to shine.

Okay, dear. I saw that someone asked you a question, so I thought I'd give it a try too. Silly me.
Actually, maybe I should have @-mentioned you in the group, but I wanted to try using the ask box.
I've never used Tumblr's ask box before, so perhaps you'll be my guinea pig :P
In fact, I've always wanted to ask why, since Ray has so many abilities, he doesn't leave NAHA but keeps working for them instead. I just can't come up with a good explanation. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.:3
上面的是机器翻译,所以我怕哪里有问题,所以下面是中文。
好的,亲爱的,我看到有人提问你了。所以我想来试试。silly/.
Omg hiiii💖💖 老师好❤️That’s such a great question and the one I’ve been struggling with for a long time lol. But I believe Ray doesn’t stay with NAHA because he’s incapable of leaving—but because leaving would be far more complicated than it seems.
First, he’s not just a soldier—he’s a classified military weapon. He holds too much sensitive information for any government to risk him walking free. Simply trying to disappear would make him a global threat. NAHA likely has an international network capable of tracking him anywhere. And while Ray might technically be able to kill anyone who gets in his way, he’s exhausted. He doesn’t want to abandon the only structure he has in his life(pre MC)—especially when he doesn’t know what freedom would even look like.
Second, NAHA is all he’s ever known. He was raised, trained, and shaped by them. - they taught him how to see the world, himself, and even what love and loyalty mean. Even if he grows to see how corrupt they are, that attachment runs deep(think about toxic parents) similar to MC’s struggle to leave Double - The toxicity is familiar & is their home.
And third, Ray doesn’t believe he deserves anything better. He may quietly dream of a normal life—peace, quiet, happiness—but deep down he doesn’t think it’s meant for someone like him - His body and powers were built for violence; He’s been told again and again that his only worth lies in destruction; He carries too much blood on his hands—villains, heroes, civilians, maybe even people he once cared about. The self-hatred is so deep it convinces him he’s already too far gone. So he stays. Not because he loves NAHA but because staying with NAHA & continuing to “half-ass” his missions while doing just enough to survive is the path of least resistance.
So it’s not that he can’t leave. It’s that leaving would cost him everything—security, identity, even the thin layer of numbness that keeps him functioning. Until someone like MC gives him a reason to imagine something better, a future that feels real, he has nothing to walk toward. But once he sees that life clearly, once he believes it’s something he can protect, he’d be willing to give everything for it.

Heyo! I personally feel like 99 needs more love. How about a fluffy x reader where they’re friends and she fake marries him to get him away from the Kaminoans (but they’re actually super duper mutually pining the whole time.)
“One of Us”
99 x Reader
The Kaminoan facility wasn’t designed for sentiment.
Its corridors were sterile in every sense—white light, white walls, white floors. Even the voices were low and clinical, always discussing test results, genetic stability, weapon output. Not names. Never hearts.
That’s why you noticed 99.
He stood out—not just because he limped slightly or because his spine curved wrong or because his uniform never quite fit right. It was the way he looked at people. As if there was something worth seeing. As if this place hadn’t broken him.
He always smiled when you brought him rations during late-night inventory. Always called you “miss” and insisted on carrying heavy crates even when his body protested. Somewhere along the line, those brief exchanges became full conversations—about the brothers he looked after, about Domino Squad and courage and worth. Then came shared caf, off-record strolls along the cloning bays, and quiet silences that said more than words.
You were friends. But you also weren’t just that.
You hadn’t realized how deeply that ran until you overheard the conversation between two Kaminoan officials in the archive corridor.
“CT-99’s degradation has accelerated. He is no longer functionally valuable, even in maintenance.”
“Authorization for retirement?”
“Approved.”
Your blood ran cold.
“They’re going to kill you.”
You didn’t even greet him that night. You found 99 in the supply corridor, bent over a defective droid leg, and launched the words like a warning shot. He blinked up at you, squinting in the low light.
“What?”
“They’re calling it a ‘retirement.’” Your voice cracked. “But you know what that means here.”
He sat slowly, his knees popping. “They’ve… spoken of that before. I knew it might come eventually.”
“Eventually?” You dropped beside him. “99, that’s not okay. You matter. You’re one of the best people I’ve ever met and—!”
“I’m just a maintenance clone.” He smiled gently. “Don’t cry for me, miss. I’ve lived more than I expected to.”
You swore then. Actually swore, which made his eyebrows jump.
“No,” you snapped, “you’re not dying here. I won’t let them erase you like you’re a defective datapad.”
“What choice do I have?”
You stared at him. Your mind ran through every legal form, every loophole, every bureaucratic cheat you’d learned in your years under Republic assignment. Then it hit you like a shockwave.
“A non-military transfer of ownership,” you whispered.
“…What?”
“If you were married to a Republic citizen, you could be reassigned under spousal exemption. You’d be protected from termination. Legally. The Kaminoans would have to comply.”
99 blinked.
Then blinked again.
“You’re suggesting I marry… someone.”
You swallowed. “I’m suggesting you marry me.”
The documents were easy enough. Kamino’s system was used to shuffling clones around like inventory, so when a civilian contract with proper Senate authorization came through, no one questioned it too deeply. The clerk asked if you wanted to add a photo to the certificate. You declined.
The moment he signed it, 99 looked up at you with something unreadable in his eyes.
“You don’t have to mean it,” you said softly. “This is just so they can’t touch you.”
He nodded. “Of course.”
But neither of you could quite meet the other’s eyes.
The departure was quiet.
Clones didn’t get farewells. Especially not defective ones. You packed what few personal items 99 had—mostly handmade trinkets from cadets long graduated, a cup from Hevy, a scarf someone once gave him on a cold shipment night.
The shuttle took off in silence. He sat beside you, rigid and awkward, like he wasn’t sure where to put his hands. His armor—what little he wore—was neatly folded beside him. For the first time, 99 was leaving Kamino.
He didn’t speak until the clouds cleared the viewport.
“You really didn’t have to do this,” he said, voice low.
“I did,” you replied. “I wasn’t going to let them erase you.”
He looked at you, really looked, and then turned away, jaw tight.
“I don’t understand why you care so much.”
You turned toward him. “Because I see you, 99. You’re not a failure. You’re not defective. You’re kind and strong and brave and I—I didn’t want to lose you.”
The silence that followed was deafening.
But he didn’t look away this time.
You settled on a small Republic-affiliated outpost world—not a war zone, not a center of politics. Just quiet enough to go unnoticed. You got assigned to logistical oversight; 99 began working with medical triage teams, carrying supplies and offering patient support. The local medics loved him.
To anyone else, you were just another newly married couple relocating for duty. To you both… it was complicated.
You shared quarters, but different beds. Ate together, but never touched. Talked, laughed, even bickered over ration rotation—but always with that something hanging in the air.
You never brought up the marriage. Neither did he.
Until the third month.
You were folding laundry when he entered your room, hesitating at the threshold.
“I spoke to a clone today,” he said. “A trooper with the 212th. He said he envied me.”
You paused. “Why?”
He gave a small, tired smile. “Because I have someone. Because I’m not just another number anymore. He said I looked… happy.”
You didn’t trust your voice, so you just nodded.
He stepped closer. “Do I?”
You looked up. “Do you what?”
“Do I look happy?”
You swallowed. “You… do.”
“Do you think I am?”
Your heart thudded. “Are you?”
He stared at you. “I never knew I could be. Until you.”
You dropped the shirt in your hands. “99…”
“I know it wasn’t real,” he said quickly, eyes cast down. “The marriage, I mean. I know you did it to protect me. I’ve always known that. But somewhere along the way, I started wishing it was real.”
You moved without thinking. Crossed the room. Stood toe-to-toe with him.
“I never lied to you,” you said. “It might have started as a loophole, but everything I’ve done since has been real. I care about you. I—stars, 99, I love you.”
He flinched like he’d been hit.
“I know I’m not like the others,” he whispered. “I’m not whole. I’m not—”
You kissed him.
It was soft. Gentle. Like finally coming home after years in a storm. He froze for a breath, then leaned into it, arms curling around your waist like he wasn’t sure if he was allowed.
When you pulled back, his cheeks were wet.
“I don’t deserve this,” he said.
“You deserve everything,” you whispered. “Especially this.”
Life didn’t change overnight, not in the loud ways. You still worked. Still filed reports. Still shared cramped meals in the commissary.
But at night, he started holding your hand. He began calling you by your name instead of “miss.” And one morning, without a word, you found his things moved fully into your side of the quarters. No more distance.
He looked at you and said softly, “I want to be your husband. Not just your paperwork.”
You kissed him again, then. And again. And again.
And you never let him go.
When the war ended, many files were lost. Many names were erased. But not 99’s. Not anymore.
Because somewhere on a quiet moon, far from Kamino’s cold halls, a man who was once discarded found a life. A name. A person who loved him.
And when people asked how two such different souls had met, you always smiled and said, “He saved me first.”

People need to realize, kids at Hogwarts like Ron, Harry and Neville needed therapy. Teachers are NOT therapists. These kids were either neglected and/or abused in some way. That needs an actual therapist to work through.
A teacher is NOT fit for such jobs, otherwise we could just scooch in between math class and chemistry for a suicidal melt down with our teachers, because why do we need therapists.
It's for a reason that schools nowadays have school therapists. Hello? Are some people actually just not aware of how things came to be? A teacher is someone who... Teaches. I can't explain it better than that. If you fuck up, you fuck up, there is no heart-to-heart felt conversation in a class of around 20 students and there are still 7 hours left in the shift.
Especially not in Snape his case whose shift doesn't go from 8 to 4 or 9 to 5, because his shift is bound to be 24/7 as a double spy. And sure, he definitely DEFINITELY needed therapy as well.
But I am so fucking fed up with people blaming a teacher for every fucking little thing a child with 0 preservation skills, an anxious child, and a kid with insecurity issues does.
So how about you actually do some research on how teachers function, instead of blaming him for about everything.
And before I get haters on my ass. Luna, Draco and Cho needed therapy too. I just spoke of the first three from a teacher pov because Snape is often blamed for things he did to Hermione (an arsonist), Neville, Harry and Ron.
Honestly, those kids would definitely grow up to be troublesome adults, more than half these kids wouldn't probably break the family curse or something. So again, a teacher and therapist are two different things. A therapist is paid to think of solutions and help you. A teacher is there to teach you stuff and doesn't have time to guide you a lot with little time that teachers have. Even less in Snape his case.
Sure, many would say he hates Neville for the prophecy and he'd hate harry too. But if he'd truly hate the child, he would go out of his way to ruin them. All the man did was say blunt things during class. All nice and all, but the picture still stays without the extra context.
Kids arrived absolutely ruined in a dangerous school post war era. And they somehow resent the one and only teacher that looks about sleep deprived as a raccoon, and the rumors around him didn't help his case either, making the kids jump to assumptions regarding him.
So yeah. That's that. On my watch, I'd at least have 4 therapist in Hogwarts. Therapist for each house and they definitely should share notes, no preference to their own house or playing the blame game between houses. Together they would think of solutions and deliver that on my desk for me to look at and see how I can change the school's vibe from within to make sure, every house is comfortable and NOT discriminated against.
For the record, they wouldn't share the students identity with the story. But if the symptom "Gryffindor gets away with almost everything like starting quidditch sooner while we can't" appears too often, the therapist would lay that down and that would cause a discussion for me to make a decision with in the end.
Now, I may pull an Anakin Skywalker move, but my answer is the final answer. If I feel like discussing my answer, so be it.
Oh, yeah, and if a snater reads this. I really REALLY don't like you, so don't bother reacting to me, I will cuss you out if you say bs.
That's my lucky charm🤞
Ps: I know about the goddamn toad, but in the end, you're hating someone, a human being over a toad. Yet people hate Snape for adoring his friend over her child. Please, choose one thing and grow the fuck up. Thanks.

I’m super curious about your gargoyle-ness; would you be willing to talk a little bit about A) what made you confirm the ‘type and B) the experiences you associate with it.
I’ve been wondering if I am gargoyle-hearted as an extension of being a Natural History Museum (with close association with the one in London) and I figured I might as well ask, haha. No pressure to respond, though!
oh i love this ask. i really should talk about it more. I tend to say that I am gargoyle 'hearted, but there are a lot of labels that might fit. Kith and archetype are the two that seem to fit the best alongside otherhearted. So do take that into consideration.
I kinfirmed them upon being around them frequently. I spent a few months in northern france and spent most of my time in and around medieval architecture and buildings, so there were quite a few! It was a very quick thing, not something I spent a lot of time thinking about because it was so vidid. Just a very very strong familial feeling towards them, the sense that they and I were more alike than most things. I understood them, they understood me, and it brought a lot of peace. I remember standing under them and watching my peers and just having this moment, the gargoyle's shadow cast on the ground in front of me, where I felt that I could just sit there with them forever. And watch.
I have always been a bit aloof. Quiet, awkward. For most of my life I have been a spectator in the corner, observing but never taking part. And it's not something I've ever been too upset about, it's just how my nature has always been. There is a bit of self-deprecation to it, of course, even if I've never been sad about it. A very alienated feeling that you can really see in all of my 'types.
Of course, I have never been a lump on a log. I will be distant, but I will not be useless! I guess that's why I stick to gargoyle more than grotesque. Their function in architecture gives them a concrete purpose beyond superstition (which is something I tend to avoid).
To be gargoyle 'hearted is about that distance. It's about being built to sit atop and watch. Carry my weight, do my part, and not really much else. I chime in, but only when necessary.
Like all my 'types, it's something that takes a less than desirable aspect of myself and twists it into something positive, something easier to talk about and interact with.
I am a gargoyle in my sorority, unable to breach the gap and participate. I am a gargoyle with my family, at the park, and even online. I lurk, I observe. For better or for worse, thats what I do and how I work. Just like a gargoyle up on a wall, perched there to do its task and not much else. Sometimes I like to think that I protect everyone I watch over, but I'm not sure if I actually do... ha! Although I do care for them, my distance does not equal distaste.
And on a more positive note, just like the mythology around the beasties, my stone can melt away and I can come to life. The right people are able to bring me down, stop be from being so distant.
those little beasties on the wall are just like me! they're just like me in so many ways and I love them. They aren't as prominent in my life as gillmen or even stitch, but they are still pretty ding dang neat.
I hope this answers your questions! Let me know if you have any more.
Gargoyles from trip when I kinfirmed below, just for fun. In the last photo, there is a gargoyle that looks like it has a beak with all the moss! That specific one is the one that made me start thinking about it. The third image with the gargoyle and the little jester under him is the one that I kinfirmed near :]

On a semi related note the more I am subjected to Microsoft products the more I become convinced that the reason so many people these days believe themselves to be “bad with computers” is that the programs they are forced to use in their professional life are utterly incomprehensible to ANY rational human being and they are (rightfully enough) extrapolating out that this is just how computers are. They aren't!!! In their quest to remove all the “scary” details from their poor fragile end users Microsoft have created an ecosystem that behaves completely erratically and unpredictably and is by definition unknowable. Things just happen. Then they stop happening. Nothing ever announces why or how. Just a thousand vague and useless popups that may or may not be there tomorrow. I PROMISE computers are actually extremely simple and logical beasts.

@a-cheetosandroid no, I totally agree. I hate gendered classpects. I dont use it or subscribe to it at all. I didnt choose thief because Susies a girl, I chose thief because thats the personality that fits her most,
"Thieves have good intentions, and might be egocentric. They have natural confidence with their Aspect, but hide insecurities and hate being seen as weak." -dahniwitchoflight
Along with the fact that she literally stole hope (noelles spot in the prophecy) for herself and became one of the three heros. (No she didnt do this intentionally but functionally that is what happened) something i want to highlight above is the line about hiding insecurities. This is a huge part of her character, she even expresses it explicitly in chapter 4 when telling kris about how she tried to play piano. Its why in the beginning throughout chapter 1 shes putting on a facade of indifference, not wanting to get invested in the dark world, being mean to kris and ralsei, and attacking darkners indiscriminately. all that is her hiding her insecurities so she doesnt appear weak. Another thing that isnt mentioned above is that thieves start off lacking their Aspect (see: vriska serket and her bad luck) Susie starts off the story inverted, showing rage and pessimism and forced apathy to protect herself. But its through the people around hers confidence in her (lancer, ralsei, kris, noelle, gerson, false faith in the prophecy, hell even berdly) that she steals the hope others give her to bolster herself and her self image so she can showcase it to ralsei in the final scene in the dark world, giving him hope that maybe they can change things.
"Princes ghost their opposite Aspects as they destroy theirs. They are violently stubborn pessimistic people that stop at nothing to reach their goals." -dahniwitchoflight
While I do understand the instinct to put her as a prince due to her destructive and stubborn nature, princes are extremely negative and pessimistic in a way that Susie just isnt, sarcastic sure but she's the one to display hope and inspire ralsei in chapter 4. Additionally, a prince of rage would destroy rage to make for hope, princes are sort of at odds with both ends of their Aspect, their actual aspect and the one they ghost. Where as Susie works more harmoniously with her aspect and its invert. While thieves are over compensating for insecurity, princes overestimate their abilities and self-aggrandize. Princes have an ego, they are self-loathing but still think they are better than others, where as Susie deep down thinks shes not as good as the people around her. And what isnt mentioned above is the general personality of princes as cold, logistical, strategists. Thieves are loud, boisterous, and value strength. Something i feel fits Susie much better.
In chapter 1 Susie is inverted, displaying as a page of rage. Shes overcomphsating for where she feels shes lacking, and she does it so well she reads as a prince of rage, but we see this persona break down through the next three chapters until fully looping back around to her true aspect thanks to Gerson.
Susie is a thief of hope. homestuck fans rise

So we were talking about Paradise Lost in my English class, and I had to read some of it, and I’m not gonna lie, I kept thinking of the Decepticons while reading it, like I could see this fitting them
And we got to a point where we looked at the Fallen Angel painting because someone brought it up, and I wanted to talk about how I’ve seen people remake that piece with both Sentinel and Megatron, but I kept quiet
Because like, online here is one thing, but do you know how embarrassing it would be to compare Paradise Lost, one of the most significant works in English literature, to Transformers, which the average person knows as just a glorified toy commercial for kids and the Bay movies? Especially when people most likely wouldn’t have the context of Transformers One, which is what I was specifically thinking of here
Like my professor’s chill, she’d probably be fine with that, but I don’t think I could take that public shame

I was skimming part of code of the clans today where the Leafpool narrator goes over proposed code rules that were struck down. I was curious why this StarClan rule wasn't implemented because it seems like something the zealot clan cats would go for. The guide does not rly answer my question lol
This is such a weird paragraph. It's like. In one breath Leafpool-narrator is saying they didn't make it a code rule because clan cats can think for themselves, but in the next breath implies that belief in StarClan is in fact necessary for living in the clan, because to live in a clan means you have to follow the warrior code, and belief in StarClan is what makes them follow the code (apparently). If you don't believe in StarClan, she seems to imply that must mean you are planning on leaving the clan? ("it's not a law to stay in the clan" + you can "choose a different path"?) There is not actually any room being made here for a clan cat to peacefully not believe in StarClan---at least not a good code abiding clan cat. And the alternative of leaving the clan obviously means you are no longer planning on following any of the code, so like...how is this meaningfully different from making it an official code rule?
