now, if you’re ready to start painting, here’s a simple step-by-step guide to get you going:

choose your medium: decide whether you want to start with acrylics, oils, or watercolors. acrylics are great for beginners because they’re easy to work with and dry quickly.

gather your supplies: you’ll need some basic materials like paints, brushes, a palette, canvas or paper, and some water or solvent for cleaning your brushes.

set up your workspace: find a comfortable spot with good lighting. lay down some newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your surfaces.

learn the basics: start with some basic techniques like blending, layering, and brush strokes. you can find plenty of tutorials online to help you get started.

Day 21 Holy hell I finished a model! Did highlights on the metallics, some lines for script on the parchment and went to town dressing up the base. Captian Aureli Mordred is ready for Sunday

If you find yourself lacking purpose, pick up one these hobbies:

Art: Ever since I started learning to draw, I wake up every day excited to learn the next thing. Even though I am not very good at it, it i exciting to observe references/comics/art and break it down into shapes in my mind or observe the way it has been shaded.

Reading:Decide the vibe you are most into- dark academia, horror, classics, etc. Pick an author/poet, start with their most famous work. Read, analyze, go through discussions on forums. Then pick up the next book and so on

Writing: Pick a random image on pinterest, write about it(the vibe, potential characters, maybe craft a story). Doesn't matter how good or bad your writing is. Write about your feelings from the perspective of another person. create an original character. It is a great way to vent.

Photography: You don't have to be a professional. Just take a snap of the random things you see. Capture the vibe. The moment.

Not usually posting day-to-day hobby progress...

But I have reached 1700 days of hobbystreak, meaning 1700 consecutive days of spending at least 30 mins doing mini-related stuff. Building, painting, terraining and so on. It really sped up my output throughout this last 4,5 years!

Day 1593: rather than just applying straight cadian fleshtone I mixed some of it into the bugmans glow. Might stop at the next layer of cadian fleshtone then glaze. Also painted some of the mix onto the skin for practicing my glazing

DuoLingo HobbyStreak 194

I've been rather scared of this creature. You can't tell but there are at least three things I tried to do already to give him a good skin before throwing my hands up and coming up with this rich one coat approach of ... just put a solid paint on the model.

Who would have thought that my favorite pastime works out well when I just do it instead of coming up with increasingly elaborate ways to save time.

I have returned! I used the bits I cleaned up from before my vacation to make this little guy. He speaks only in Team Fortress 2 Heavy quotes

he’s kind of a mess but hey he looks pretty

Continued on with some oil washes. I’ve only just started experimenting with them. After some false starts and failures, I think less is more with oils. When they are quite diluted they give a great, subtle effect.

Got some mini painting in too, today. Finished off the white undershirt.

He’s going to be a Youngblood in my Reiklander warband.

I decided to make my Youngbloods a banner bearer and musician. This won’t have any effect in-game, but will make them stand out on the table.

Plus, they’ll fit in nicely should I want to expand my force for something like Saga: Age of Magic.
