People should not kid themselves. Trump hates Latinos and has a history of considering them to be less than human.
The MAGA Trump Hispanophobia was on full display at Madison Square Garden in New York City – a city whose population is 28% of Hispanic origin.
This type of rhetoric and insults was nothing new for Trump...
'Drug dealers, criminals, rapists': What Trump thinks of Mexicans
Ana Navarro: Trump 'putting a target' on Latinos with 'not people' comments
Trump's new pitch to Latinos is predictably insulting
'Poisoning the blood': Trump’s ugliest moments on immigrants
Trump particularly has it in for Puerto Ricans. Perhaps he's too stupid to understand that they are American citizens and can vote in the 50 states.
Apparently Trump wanted to sell Puerto Rico during his term of office.
New York Times: Trump considered selling Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, former acting Homeland Security chief says
I'm guessing that one of his totalitarian bros in Russia, North Korea, or Saudi Arabia would have been the most interested in such a sale.
If Trump and his pals blatantly speak like this at public rallies, it's likely that what goes on privately in their minds is even more dark and disturbing.

when you are angry and dont know why. you don't want to think but you want to act you end up with violence and racism.
I really hope these people who protest AT Starbucks in defense of Palestine will stop soon. I work at one and we frequently have people coming in here in groups, ordering nothing, trying or succeeding in breaking things, yelling at the baristas that we're all Zionist murderers out to kill brown people, it's crazy and most of us girls who work here have to be walked to our cars by one of the male managers because we already had 2 coworkers get physically attacked outside in the past week alone.
I live in a predominantly Hispanic area and every single person we've seen coming in here to cause trouble have been white, they yell about "protect brown people" what about the brown people you're harassing right now just because we work at a fucking coffee shop. Seriously who is all of this helping? What is the point? It's like people have lost their minds. 🤦🏾♀️
I think I’m somewhat insulated from all this madness because I live in such heavily Jewish area. But I’m honestly scared for more than just Jews these days.
It kind of seems like white people were asked to be less racist and the response is doubling down (conservatives) or simply twisting their rhetoric until the minority person “deserves it” (leftists)

Follow up to the previous post (probably gonna get crucified online for this):
Yes, Islamophobia exists.
Yes, Antisemitism exists.
Yes, racism exists.
Yes, Indophobia exists.
Yes, Hinduphobia exists.
Yes, Queerphobia exists.
Yes, cultural appropriation exists.
Yes, hispanophobia exists.
Yes, discrimination and prejudice and stereotypes and appropriation and hate against all oppressed minorities exist, and those of us in said communities just trying to fucking EXIST have to suffer for it.
This isn't some 'all lives matter' post, this is a 'stop fucking pretending that discrimination against another minority doesn't exist because their beliefs don't align with yours' post. Go take a walk outside, get out of your bubble, and see the world as it truly is- if we're not allocishet NT able-bodied white wealthy men, they hate us, whether they want to show it openly or passive-aggressively or not at all.
Open your fucking eyes, with all due respect. Why are we fighting over who's had the worst generational trauma? Like for real- we as minorities are all discriminated against. We shouldn't be squabbling amid each other like preschoolers on crack and instead we should focus our efforts into fighting back against the hate and oppression.

Ok I'm gonna say it. I'm sick of this shit. Why the fuck is everyone so quiet when a Japanese pianist is attacked out of sinophobia (not even as an act of white supremacy!) Why so quiet about the Asian man literally set on fire a few months ago? Why is everyone so quiet about the 17 year old Hispanic boy who was beaten within an inch of his life by a white boy less than a week ago. Why have I only seen the article about the Latino man who was beaten so bad by the police they had to hold his head up for his mugshots come across my dash only thrice and nothing for months? Why isn't anyone saying their names? What of the 23 men and women whose lives were taken by a racist POS in the El Past shooting last year. WHY is no one talking about it a year later? You can't pick and choose who you want to support. I'm so disappointed in these so-called "activists". Do our lives matter, too? Please just do your part for us, even if it's not a trending hashtag. We are all human.
Signed,
An angry and hurt Latina

Trump chooses Dia de los Muertos to remind his adherents that he hates brown people as much as they do.
(Also, he’s lying again. Quelle surprise.)

First, the El Paso shooting happened, where the target was the Mexican-American (Latinx) community. Then ICE raided a factory and took about 680 people, people that have families. These families are crying, waiting for their love ones to come home soon. And yes, they were also people of the Latinx community.
In my opinion, the President and his rhetoric, which emboldened that white supremacist to go into a Walmart and shoot the Latinx community, are responsible.
Hispanophobia is real and the Latinx community is under attack. For real, some US citizens were detained by ICE for the very reason of being Latinx.
We need to brand together and civilly fight for our right to be safe, the right to be ourselves and the right to express our identities (Afro, LGBTQIA+, Indigenious, Boriqua, etc.) in America. We also need to continue to fight against institutional racism and continue to call for ICE to be abolished.
And for those that still support Trump from the community, what makes you think he isn’t going to come after you at some point? When he wanted to repeal the 14th Amendment a few years back, which mandates birthright citizenship, chances are he was thinking about you too.
In my opinion, we need to be more proud of our roots, more proud of our cultures, and more proud to be us.
We are not invaders, we are not infestations. We are the children of immigrant parents who sacrificed everything so that we can have a voice at the table and bright futures. We are also immigrants who are productive members of society and contributors to the intellectual community, regardless of status. We are also first gen, paving the way for ours and others’ futures to be bright and full of promise.
And the truth is, the Latinx community is NOT going anywhere. This is our country too, so suck it racists.

First of all, we have understand the definition of the word mestiza (or mestizo for males).
The Casta paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries show the wide variety of racial backgrounds of the people of Mexico, and define the terms used for the children of many pairings.
De español e india, mestiza (of Spanish [father] and Indian [mother], mestiza [daughter]
Prior to the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920) mestiza (or mestizo) was defined as someone of mixed Spanish and Indigenous parentage. The people who first came to Mexico in the 1500s were mostly men. They intermarried with Indigenous women or took Indigenous women as mistresses, and fathered children with them.
A little bit later, Spanish women and girls came to Mexico with their husbands and fathers. The children of these Spanish mothers and fathers, born in Mexico, were given the name peninsulares. They were the first Mexicans of purely Spanish descent, and held influential positions in the Church and the government.
In the Josefina books there are a couple of characters who are Indigenous. One of them is Josefina's best friend, Mariana, who is Pueblo Indian. Another is Teresita, a Navajo woman who is Josefina's aunt's servant. American Girl makes the distinction between them as Indigenous people, and Josefina's family and neighbors. In the Looking Back sections of the main series, and in Welcome to Josefina's World, the text refers to people like Josefina's family and their neighbors as "settlers." Their ancestors had come to Mexico so long ago that they were no longer truly Spanish, but they were distinct from Indigenous people like the Pueblo, who by Josefina's time were allies, and tribes like the Navajo, who were often enemies of the settlers.
Mestiza currently is a term which can be used to describe all Mexicanas, as the definition of the term has changed to reflect a more uniform, nationalistic idea of race and ancestry. Which is not necessarily a good thing, as the myth of a universal ancestry and heritage erases the diversity of cultures and backgrounds which make us unique. Some people of mixed Indigenous and Spanish descent feel that mestizo/a as a term for all Mexicans erases the painful and complex history of their ancestors.
It is important to note that race is complicated for Latinx people and there are many factors that can affect how a person chooses to identify. It also varies by country and language, because different terms were used in Mexico, versus other countries, such as Brazil, for example. Many Latinx people who are white (including myself) do not identify only as white because identifying as white erases their Latinx heritage and culture or places them within a group where they feel they cannot identify with other members due to different cultural heritage and life experiences. The fact that the term racism is often used to refer to actions against Latinx people, despite a more accurate term being hispanophobia also complicates matters.
Additionally, the centuries old racism towards Black and Indigenous people still affects beauty standards in Mexico today, and some mestizos choose to identify as being of pure Spanish descent to raise themselves above people they see as "lower" due to their identity as mestizos, or Black.
As a Mexican-American living in the United States, and someone who studies history, I also know that defining the race of Mexicans has been a problem Americans have attempted to tackle for centuries. Oftentimes, Americans have relied upon familiar racial categorizing - Black, white, Native American, mixed - which doesn't really work because the social positioning of each group was different in each country.
The differences of dress, customs and language, in the Mexican Republic, make known the heterogeneousness of its population, which may be divided into three principal groups; viz, the white race and more direct descendants of the Spaniards, the mixed race and the Indian race. - from The Republic of Mexico in 1876 by Antonio García Cubas and George F. Henderson (a book printed in Mexico but written for an American audience; the information is not necessarily 100% accurate but it's useful for understanding perceptions from the time period)
I realize that I might sound a little extreme in my insistence that Josefina is white, but I don’t want American Girl being given credit for including indigenous heritage where there is no evidence of any. The only historical character in the Historical Character doll line who has Native American heritage is Kaya. If you decide that your Josefina doll is mestiza, that’s awesome and I fully support that, but it's not something that is part of Josefina's heritage in her official backstory created by American Girl.
Again, Josefina’s summer dress mainly takes inspiration from 1824 fashion:
(Whitaker Auctions)
It was really hard to find references for her riding accessories, but the bolero and sombrero resemble a traditional Spanish riding habit:
Fashion aside, I’m a little disappointed Josefina’s stories didn’t get into Mexico’s racial and class stratification, a topic AG usually handles very gracefully. Josefina and her family appear to be Mestizo, and their trip to Santa Fe would be a really good chance to explore where they fit into Mexican society.
#american girl#josefina montoya#phew! I think I covered all the points but if you or anyone else has further questions feel free to ask them

Just an announcement, if me talking about and reblogging stuff about the insane racism and police brutality faced in the US by my fellow Hispanics or the insanity still occurring in Central & South America offends/makes you feel uncomfortable, I would highly suggest that you unfollow and block me now because you will be seeing a lot of that and some things will be extremely graphic as well.

saw your tags where you said Mary didn't have a good marriage but Philip still gave her love and attention. idk but that's kind of makes no sense to me? like I like hearing it and since she was happy the first year i guess she thought he loved her, but can you tell me why you think this? just leaving her like that knowing she loved him is so cruel, particularly when she could've had a child then, maybe anyway. and i guess he wouldn't have come back if he didn't need help in the war. but not to get NSFW but since she thought she was pregnant again he must've tried to comfort her even if he didn't think she'd have a kid. but the narrative is usually she disgusted him, he couldn't wait to leave and wanted Elizabeth, so do you think that's overdone and Philip did like and care about Mary, not just for duty as she's his wife, but because he liked her as a person? when she died he said he missed her and it makes me all emotional! I wonder how much of his long dying confession was guilt how he treated her. I kinda hope he felt bad and realise when he was old how much she loved him.
Hello anon ! Thank you for the questions about their marriage. I will try my best to address your post as it’s a long one .
I went through my tags and looked but the only thing I could find was “marriage was not a good one” and “ Philip respected and treated her with love and attention “. I guess that is what you meant so I will directly give you my short opinion. Like any other royal marriage of that time, Mary & Philip’s marriage was a political dynamic (which both understood). However, I do think the marriage was a one sided romantic and physically attraction based relationship but I don’t solely blame Philip as he was forced into the marriage. I mentioned in my tags , Philip did respected and loved Mary in a sense of partnership. In fact many eyewitnesses stated that they both had things in common and enjoyed each other company. Even after the death of Mary, Philip expressed remorse and commented on how virtuous she was. This implies that although he wasn’t madly in love , he was sympathetic. In my tags I was referring to popular belief that Philip was utterly repulsed by Mary, which these beliefs stemmed from misogynistic, anti-Catholic and even Hispanophobia. I do wish that Mary would have married a man who equally romantically love her but once again Mary as Queen married Philip for political reasons that would benefit England. As we all know (reference to the marriage not a good one ) it ended with the loss of Calais which was devastating for Mary in a geopolitical perspective. I hope this answers your questions and doubts .
