Maybe i am too fanfic-brained but mutually possessive/jealous hilson. In the show house does get super jealous of anything wilson does romantically, lol.

Back to the point; the possession/jealousy would be toxic as fuck for anyone else, but for them it's positive and healthy because they are freaks!!! Freak4freak!!! Weird and fucked up "he loves me" thing!!!

Their jealousy/possessiveness over each other is something else, that's for sure. It's not necessarily healthy but neither of those two have ever done well with "healthy" ["patients don't want a sick doctor" "well I don't like healthy patients."] They are the definition of Freak4Freak and they need that intense obsessive kind of love in order to break past all that repression. When you build a wall of stone around your heart, it's going to take a pickaxe or a sledgehammer to get through it, it's not something you can softly ease into to. You can lean on those bricks all day long but they're not going anywhere without a fight.

Obsession is one of their love languages and I think we see it best in early s5 when wilson knows house is stalking him, so he uses it to his advantage to mess with him and make him think he's dating a hooker and is on hard drugs. That moment when house asks wilson how he knew he was being watched and wilson says "Cane prints in the snow" is so insane like they are insane! What an insane thing to notice??? CANE PRINTS in the snow. How long did House spend outside his apartment, pacing up and down the sidewalk while wilson was upstairs with a nice woman named Cheri or Holly or smth like that? Wilson probably made her some dinner and told her about how his best friend is downstairs stalking them right now, thinking they're up here having sex or something because he's so concerned but can't bring himself to act like he cares the way he does. And you know wilson was just so smitten about it, probably grinning ear to ear because house loves him so much that he would pace in front of his apartment in the snow and watch him for hours on end and hire someone to watch him when he can't. It was house's way of being there for him when he couldn't make himself be emotionally available. It's not rational or normal in the slightest but wilson saw the effort house put into keeping an eye on him from a distance and he reciprocated that effort by playing into his games and showing him that that love was received!!

Not to mention all of that happens after Birthmarks. Wilson spent the last 4 episodes swearing that he was done with house, only to be the one to drug and kidnap him bc if anyone was going to drag him to that funeral against his will, kicking and screaming, it was going to be him. There was something very possessive about it all, locking the child lock, trying to keep his cane from him, keeping house on a vicodin leash. The kind of control wilson can have over house because he's the only one who knows how to handle him is very 😵‍💫 yeah. Not healthy but exactly what they need. It's all about how much love they have for each other every single time they are feral and possessive and obsessed with each other.

And of course that would translate in the bedroom. If anything, it just gets worse once they're sleeping together because it's the easiest and most efficient way of showing their love for each other. Actually saying they love each other and don't want anyone else is much too complicated and scary, it is much easier for them to play psychosexual mind games and tease each other until one of them pulls the other into an empty room and releases that possessive energy onto the other. The easiest way for wilson to get a lil bit of house's attention is to simply stop the cute nurse in the hall and ask her where she got that pretty necklace from or laugh just a wee bit too loudly at a patient's joke as they're exiting the exam room. That's all it takes for house to sniff him out and get all twitchy about it. And when house wants wilson's attention, he starts whining about cuddy. Not whining that he wants her, whining about practically everything else, the tone she used, the demands she made, her attitude, the way she shrugged off his "compliments" about her ass. Because of course wilson will assume he's pining over her, that's the real reason he's complaining. Wilson gets himself all worked up about it until he's determined to show house that he's the only one he needs. And in those quiet moments after, they still don't have to say the words bc their actions spoke volumes. It's impossible to deny that they love each other when they spend all day long clawing at the walls for each other alfjalkg.

park/adams propoganda: s8e3 charity case 💝

♡ s8e3 charity case: a.k.a thee park/adams episode ♡

*slaps this episode on it's head* so this bad boy is a biggie. the park/adams gateway drug u might say. lemme indoctrinate u into the masses (:

first meeting

firstly i want to bring ur attention to park's tiny face at adams when they first meet & house announces that adams will be her new colleague.

what a soft, hesitantly hopeful & shy expression! *squishing her aggressively*

& then adams ignores her bc she's pissed at house for lying to her about meeting for coffee. queue park's face afterwards in the background:

she looks down, her smile drops & she is disappointed. poor bb </3

house then responds that when ppl ask to meet for coffee, they don't really mean coffee. he then does his typical "we should have sex jk unless 😉🤪" bs to adams. she gets pissed obvs & so does park on her behalf

look at that face (protective gf). she's like "i punched my old boss for this before & i will not hesitate to do it again, bitch"

now, on to the burgeoning hints of reciprocation. park finally comes forward and reassures adams that her working volunteering for this cunt of a man (said affectionately) won't be so much work with the softest, gentlest face (supportive gf). & then adams does this cute lil face scronch like she's grateful for the encouragement or like she thinks it's sweet of park, and this is pretty much what pushes her over the edge to finally acquiesce to house (:

now on to this second scene! couples therapy w/ house (but house being house just agitates the drama lol).

one thing about these 2 is that they bicker. a lot. like married couple on the brink of a divorce levels. now think of bickering as their foreplay. like, take a look at that face adams gives park in the shot above & u know what i'm talking about. if u locked them in a cupboard together after this they would not come out for a while, is what i'm saying. it's the way infuriation = passion = love.

another interesting thing about these 2 that comes up in this scene is how they r like opposing forces which attract one another. they have opposing views on complete selflessness (adams for bc altruism is a sign of good morality & park against bc it is a sign of stupidity as it shows a lack of self-preservation). adams puts others before herself & vice versa for park. park is family-oriented, adams isn't. they have opposing backgrounds (adams is rich and priveleged & park had to fight her way up from the ground). adams likes giving, park hates owing. hell i'd bet money that they have opposing blood types if u know what i mean lol. & their opposing views feed off of each other via their arguements, constantly attracting them to one another across the series. It's the fact that they actually stop & listen to each other's points too <3

anyway, back to this scene. whilst they are mid-arguement park has this personal bit where she bites back at house & describes how both her and her family did everything to get her to where she is now, in spite of all the obstacles. & god, adams' lil smile:

when house asks for a rebuttal to this, adams realises she's lost the arguement and is just like "oh lord i like her sm: she is my secret fantasy about being poor personified <3" (the poor fantasy is also a canonical thing, might i add. she's so fucked up. i love her ur honour.)

and now on to the beef of this episode's propoganda!! the fucking gifts oml. now from our paralleling case study of the show's otp of 'hilson', we know that flirting in this show includes bickering (✅️), existing as dichotomies of one another (✅️), gay jokes (✅️ - we will address this later), and also pranks (✅️) and gift-giving/sacrifice (✅️); the last 2 we now see in this plot thread. now unfortunately there is no scene of park & adams smoking cigars together bc there is not an equivalent lesbian subtextual symbol (maybe breaking into houses by picking locks? god knows) but i'd bet money they'd be doing it in this show if one did exist.

also park never drugged adams or vice versa, but house/wilson didn't do this until like s3, and park/adams have only been in one series total. it is understandable that they have yet to reach that v intimate stage of a relationship.

so anyway, gift-giving. adams just casually comes in with a coffee which she gives to park. now firstly, notice that she gives one of the 2 coffees she has to park; she doesn't give one to house. honestly, he's a side character at this point.

secondly, some eagle-eyed sapphic enthusiasts and/or nerds may recall that several scenes ago house mentioned 'if someone asks if you want coffee, they obviously don't mean just coffee'. & makes a sex joke.

now add those two things together and what do u get? u get a courting gesture with rich guilt & parental issues as a subplot! and later park gives her a free 'coffee' in return too; a corresponding gesture with insecurity & immigrant family pride as a subplot. talk about reciprocation of feelings via gifts amirite (:

my girl adams is trying to woo park with her money and morals lol. this is such a her thing to do ffs. like look at that lil smirk in the above pic ffs. meanwhile park looks like a deer in headlights lol

park tries to offer money back & gets obviously flustered when she realises she owes adams. she doesn't even sip the darn coffee bc she's so suspicious of receiving gifts & owing someone - code for receiving love from someone who doesn't expect u to give anything in return.

she reckons there's some sort of ulterior motive, which is so fucking sad but also same, understandable. especially with this convining basket case *points at adams*. her trust issues/insecurity likely stem from growing up in an immigrant family & crucially, from what we learn in a later episode. her ex bf went 'on a break' with her to sleep with 2 of her friends and then dump her. she was really damaged by this so it makes sense that she's suspicious of a free coffee between 2 gal pals ):

then to support the sapphic vibes of this episode, we ofc get a random 13 cameo - she's got a new gf btw, in case u forgot that girls can like girls. oh btw here's another scene of park & adams together!

so. if ur still reading, this scene caused me to have a conniption fit. park asking adams if she wants her to "wear them (the shoes) while you masturbate". yeah we're on to the gay joke realm of flirting now ppl. & honestly do i even need to say anything that park hasn't already said? adams' face in this above pic already says her part ig.

anyway, this comment flusters adams but she still doesn't stop trying to give away her fucking shoes. the persistence is on par with chase's 'it's chewsday oi like u <3'. then park threatens to punch her to get out of the situation. classic house-ian relationships amirite <3

so then park continues the flirting by getting adams a job interview, adams then gives park a spa certificate, etcetera etcetera. even house with his broken-ass gaydar starts to feel the vibes & gently interrogates them both.

house @ adams: "either you're getting her gifts because you want her to like you, in which case i don't like you, or you're getting her gifts to screw with her". why can't it be both. have you maybe considered that it could be both. also, interesting use of the word 'screw' (see: sex), especially when it's in relation to gift-giving. yeah there's deffo subtext here

& may i emphasise that in her convo with house, adams states that the coffee gift that she gave to park was not her 'screwing' with park, it was a genuine gift of kindness. a.k.a it was not in the prank realm of flirting (pranks are house-ian foreplay for teasing), it was in the realm of real, gift-giving flirting; as in showing love without expecting anything back.

lessons from the master of gay subtext via pranks (a.k.a. house): "if you wanna win, you gotta do something she can't possibly reciprocate. you gotta push her neuroses to the point where even she thinks she's crazy". this sounds so... <3 something u cannot reciprocate? like a proposal? aaaaaand as far as other pairings. hm. i think largely i tend to gravitate towards character’s plotlines rather than ships - i find arya fascinating but not don’t really care all that much about gendarya, although i don’t mind it. - braime being the exception. or if i do find pairings interesting they’re usually more because of platonic reasons more than romantic. if i had to pick. hm. and before i say these we are going to remember this is the problematic ship book and i am not necessarily saying they are morally good just very fun to explore. jokes aside stavos has some hilson energy going on. what do you want from me. i think samgilly is cute (this is helped because sam is one of my faves). is it weird if i say robbjeyne is cute. jaimecersei i actually do enjoy in a these two are toxically codependent in a fun way and i wish people could explore it in a way that’s not incredibly black and white because there’s A Lot there. sansatyrion but i think that one might get me shot (and once she’s older preferably). robbtheon i get the appeal of and makes me insane to think about but i don’t like read fic for them. sansamargaery because sansa deserves nice things and i think they’d be good for each other. my hottest take i think is that jon and sam should explore each other’s bodies and i do feel this wholeheartedly and unironically. that’s all i can think of off the top of my head there’s so many fucking characters in this book. why are most of my ships straight. feels wrong. or maybe that’s just what happens when the female characters are good. idk.

Sunday

Ended the year strong by doing absolutely nothing at all.

Monday

I finally got around to watching SpyFam season 2’s finale, and while it was cute and inoffensive, it was also an extremely nothing episode. Bond centric stories are already weak, and this one just dragged on for way too long. The montage at the end doing a “here’s where everyone’s at!” thing was pretty funny – why yes, thank you for reminding me that everyone has ended this season almost exactly where they started. I’m definitely starting to feel a slight fatigue with SpyFam’s stagnation, if that wasn’t already clear. Maybe the mangaka does have an overarching story they want to tell, but right now it really feels like they’re just trying to drag things out for as long as they can… I don’t blame them, because capitalism is a hellscape, but it does make SpyFam ring hollow at times. And I can’t help but think back to that interview they did where they mentioned how they have no real attachment to their characters – it does feel like they tried hard to find a winning popular manga formula, found it, and is now trying to ride the wave for as long as they can. I don’t know, maybe I’m just feeling bitter because I remember being so excited for this series when I first read it, and it’s a little frustrating to see its characters remain the same after so many years.

I watched Kusuriya next, and it had a similarly lowkey episode to round off its first half. That sequence of Maomao running everywhere was so janky and awkward that it made me laugh, but other than that there wasn’t really anything notable. Considering that the latter half is going to be mainly the Outer Palace arc, I’m slightly dreading it, but I’ll try to go in with an open mind.

Hopped onto Dropout and watched the Rick Perry documentary they put out and it’s pretty well done. You can really feel the care that the Dropout crew puts into every one of their productions. I personally would’ve loved to get a more in-depth look at the actual building process, but the documentary is cute for what it is.

We watched some more House, and this batch of episodes was pretty good. I especially liked the one with Michael B. Jordan, it was nice and feel-good while also having plenty of fun Hilson hijinks. In general, the uptick of Hilson storylines has been very welcome. Taub was also a highlight here, having some nice Dad moments with Park and gay moments with the hockey player.

I read the latest Kusuriya manga chapter after that, and while ghost mysteries are my least favourite subgenre of Kusuriya mysteries, learning more about Lishu and seeing her stand up for herself was nice.

Thursday

We’re getting really close…we watched three more episodes of House today, and they were pretty intense. I didn’t care about the patients at all – Wilson’s cancer diagnosis really turns the show and the Hilson dynamic on its head. For the first time, we get to see House actually sacrifice a lot of his time and even his medication to take care of someone else, and all of their interactions in this episode were so charged and wonderfully angsty. The part where House holds Wilson in his arms as Wilson begs him to not let him die in the hospital was so… And then the ending, with House turning Wilson’s painful chemo treatment into a fun memory they could look back on was probably the nicest thing House has ever done for anyone on the show. The Hilson road trip episode after this was also fun…I’m glad we’re getting a lot of ship fodder before the show ends.

DUNGEON MESHI ANIME GOOD!!!!!! I’ve been really looking forward to this ever since it was announced, and I’m so glad to see that it’s as good as I could’ve hoped for. The voice cast is great, especially Kentarou Kumagai…casting him as Laios is such a galaxy brain move because I know him best as Omi from A3! and that one seme from that money lender BL, so in my mind his niche is big heart of gold guys with a tiny bit of edge to them if they’re pushed too far and that makes me INSANE. Because Laios is so nice and cute but also INSANE AND UNHINGED and I really can’t wait to see Kentarou act out some of the later scenes. (And considering that this is Studio Trigger, I’m cautiously optimistic that they’ll adapt the entire manga series). The colors are great, the loose animation is great, Marcille is so fun and pouty and whiny (as she should be) and has a ton of funny faces and noises, and the comedic timing is amazing (that janky close up on Marcille’s withering look was gold). I like the narrator too, and the food porn is top notch. The only small gripe I have is how low-budget the OP animation/direction feels, but if it means that the episodes themselves get more focus then so be it.

Today’s the day… We finally finished House M. D. All in all, it was a pretty fun show. Lots of deeply stupid and silly storylines and hammy writing, but when it got into House’s flaws as a person and his secret longing for companionship and acceptance, the plot was engaging and genuinely moving. House and Wilson’s relationship has and always will be the star of the show (even outside of ship reasons) because of how they desperately cling to each other despite their respective flaws – their relationship is really a testament to the power of love against all hardship and finding meaning in life and other people despite the pain of being alive. I think it’s probably one of the better medical procedurals out there for the strength of its character writing and their restraint with keeping the show from going completely off the rails (cough Grey’s Anatomy cough). I’ll give it a 6/10 (which is lower than the 8/10 I gave when I first watched it in high school, mostly due to me realizing that a lot of it is kind of stupid). (Shoutout to the scene where Foreman finds House’s medical I.D. propping up his wobbly table and realizes that he’s still alive – that was really cute).

It’s time for Manga…Friday? Undead Unluck is up first, and it’s very cute. It’s so fun to see Julia be much more of a hothead than Juiz was, but you can still some similarities between the two with her iron tenacity. For Fuuko to grow from mentee to mentor is such a fun change. I also loved the little details of Shen telling Mui about the stars and Sean clinging onto Gina when the building comes down.

Oshi no Ko…uh oh! Ruby’s losing herself a little bit! I wonder how far they’ll let her push things for the sake of making this movie.

Jumanji, huh… I’ve never watched it, but Dandadan seems to be paying homage to it pretty heavily. With how much they’ve teased Zuma’s appearance now, I’m expecting his eventual reveal to be pretty spectacular (or comedically underwhelming).

Magilumiere is still at full throttle – for a moment I thought glasses guy was also going to transform, but alas. This battle’s shaping up to be an interesting one, though.

Not Bonney getting her own Ace moment in One Piece… I’m guessing that Saturn’s pincers are poisoned or something, because I can’t really imagine Kuma surviving beyond this arc. But who knows, Oda doesn’t like to kill characters unless absolutely necessary, after all. The little bits of information Saturn dropped were also juicy, though I don’t remember enough about One Piece lore to properly theorize on it.

CIPHER ACADEMY IS SO GOODDDDDDDDDD and god this really does have finale energy, huh… Everyone’s dancing together and doing a million cool and fun poses, Enchan gets an emotional farewell after having accompanied Iroha this far, and then people drop off one by one until we get the full circle moment of Iroha facing against his Class Leading Private rivals again. (I was really hoping we’d learn more about the bear, but okay…) (Also it was super cute seeing Tayutan and Toshusai do a dance pose together, also Tayutan almost calling her Kyorarin???) (Also also seeing the girls who usually have their hair up have it down was super cute…) As Iroha points out, he’s now grown so much that he can actually compete with them head to head… It makes me emotional to think about how far he’s come. Anon betraying her other boygirlfriend Yosaimura was fun (you can always trust her to betray, after all), but then Iroha choosing Toshusai over her is so… Even though Iroha has undeniable chemistry with every girl in his class somehow, it makes sense that he wants to go up against Toshusai in the final battle for the title of Code Emperor. In another full circle moment, he’s fighting against the girl who started this whole journey off in the first place. If this is really the end (though I wouldn’t put it past Nisioisin to troll us again), I think I’d be pretty satisfied. At least it’ll feel like Cipher Academy was allowed to run its natural course and bring its story to a solid conclusion.

Saturday

Oh, it’s Drag Race season again, huh… I’m not like, a superfan of Drag Race, but I do enjoy watching it for the performances and the costumes. And because I’m a nerd with no friends, every season I like to do a little bit of Fantasy Drag Race points counting. I’m not competing against anyone, so it’s more just a test of how good my analytical skills are in predicting who the winner will be from episode one. So far, after watching the Meet the Queens promo and now episode one, Sapphira is definitely my frontrunner for how multitalented she is, and Dawn is also on my roster because I appreciate the weird elfgirl energy that she’s bringing. I think Q will also be a strong competitor, but I won’t put her on my roster. Megami and Nymphia are also on my radar, but I’ll have to see them on next week’s episode before I solidify my picks. The episode itself was pretty standard fare, though I’m curious to see how the immunity mechanic will shake things up. I have to admit that I’m a hermit so I usually don’t know the celebrity guest judges that they bring on, so I had to skip the Charlize Theron section because it was so boring to me. Then the talent show was decent – it seems like everyone’s a dancer this season, so a lot of girls just decided to do an original dance number…but I wish they’d come up with some more unique angles. This is why Q’s puppet number and Sapphira’s opera number stood out so much – if everyone’s serving cunt, it’s easy for your cunt to get lost in the crowd (as Aristotle once said). Runway-wise, I liked Dawn’s monster themed reveals and Q’s bug themed reveals. I was a little disappointed with Sapphira’s look because like…you can say it’s not just a leotard and everything but it still kind of just looks like a leotard. And while the color matching on the breast plate was immaculate and they shimmered really nicely, the boob size was so off… I’m a little worried about her fashion game now, but I still like her personality and energy a lot so I’m gonna keep rooting for her. SDJFKLDFSF NOT SAPPHIRA’S TITTIES BOUNCING ON THE GROUND DURING THE LIP SYNC LMAOOOO The lip sync also demonstrated why I think Q will make it far but not all the way – she’s a great performer in a lot of ways, but at the end of the day the Drag Race meta hinges on lip syncing, and it doesn’t seem like she has a lot of tricks and dips up her sleeve. And even putting dancing ability aside, her face didn’t really sell me on the song either. But let’s see how the rest of the season shakes out.

I read the latest A Second Goodbye to You chapter and I don’t have much to say about it, other than it’s cute seeing kid Hinata venture out to try and solve this conundrum himself. But I guess it’s also a little scary, because he won’t be able to fend off any physical attacks should he get himself in danger…

And it looks like that’s it for 2023’s Week in Reviews! I’m glad that I’ve been able to keep up with posting these – if nothing else, I can expel all the useless but plentiful thoughts I have and empty out my brain to make room for other things. Hopefully 2024 will be another year full of interesting stories.

they go a weekend trip to the flea market in the next town over about once a month. it's just about the only time wilson can get house out of bed early bc house loves going to the flea market. they always hold hands while walking up and down the various aisles, pulling each other to the booths they want to look at, even if house will pretend to complain about each one they go to. house loves pointing out obvious knock offs that ppl are trying to pass off as genuine and wilson always gets a kick out of watching him demolish the scammer trying to charge $400 for a bad knock off handbag.

wilson secretly schedules a time for them to sneak around in the backseat of his car for a while. not just because they're desperately horny for each other all the time, but because they both get this sick nostalgic thrill from it, reminiscing about fooling around in the back seat when they absolutely should not have been. it makes them feel young and freshly in love again and sometimes they need that, they need to just hide away from the world for a while and remember what that felt like all those years ago.

every now and then, someone who also works at the hospital will see them having dinner together and they swear it looked like a date, they swear house and wilson were looking at each other with big heart eyes and it did not look platonic at all. and then house will like, send out a hospital wide memo the next day about being able to see cuddy's bra through her shirt and everyone's like "yeah uh huh sure, he's obviously gay with the guy known for fucking half the nurses here 🙄"

as part of bearing the responsibility of knowing their secret, thirteen's place becomes the "dog house" when her dads friends are fighting. house has shown up at her door drunk and sad a few times and when she asks him why he didn't just sleep on their couch, house always has an excuse, but she always comes to realize that the guy just didn't want to be alone and thirteen was the only one he could be honest with about what they were fighting about and why house can't just put his ego aside and apologize. wilson almost always comes to pick him up the next morning, bringing breakfast with him that they all enjoy and her dads friends are back to normal by the time they leave her place.

the holiday's become unbearable for her after her brother is gone. her dad moved to live closer to his family, and she can't stand the idea of being around them all grieving her brother while she alone carries the knowledge that she killed him, even if she knows it was the right thing to do. neither house or wilson ask her to explain when she says she's not going to go home for christmas. wilson invites her over and ofc she tries to decline, says she wouldn't want to intrude, but wilson insists and says they're not doing anything special, just eating takeout and listening to house play christmas music on the piano, maybe watch a movie or two and drink a little too much wine or beer. she swears she'll be fine alone, but she shows up at their door on christmas anyways and she is so happy to not be alone. house and wilson get tipsy and they're so cute, kissing on the couch, making each other laugh and house making all sorts of innuendos about the kind of gifts he gave wilson that morning.

thirteen's apartment building gets shut down for like a termite infestation or smth like that, so she has to stay with house and wilson for a couple of weeks and she learns far more about those two than she ever wanted to. she witnesses their morning routine which includes a lot of sleepy bickering, shower sex, not so sleepy bickering, and then wilson inevitably leaving house behind and telling him to take the motorcycle bc he can't be late for the third day in a row, he actually has meetings and a general sense of respect for his job, unlike some people. house looks far too pleased with himself at wilson's attitude, which led her to her next discovery of just how much of their fighting is actually just foreplay. she is traumatized by the time she goes back to her place.
