In the Snake Pit | A Dramione fic - evilqueen01232 - M, WIP - The Light has won the war. Headmistress Minerva McGonagall has made it compulsory for all those who missed their 7th year to retake their final year, but she no longer believes the original house allegiances stand. All 8th years are set to be re-sorted into new houses as part of the efforts to recuperate after the war. What happens when two-thirds of the Golden trio find themselves in the House of Cunning and Ambition, and the other finds himself tainted with a force far beyond his control? What happens when Hermione makes a startling discovery about her heritage and finds herself grappling with the implications and Magic it comes with? What happens when the Brightest Witch of her age is forced to change her priorities, find family where she never expected to, and comfort in the arms of the boy who had no choice? The answers all lie in the Snake Pit. A story about ancient magic, a corrupted soul that conjures Nightmares and a not-so-dead Headmaster. A story about forgiveness, finding yourself, and of course, saving the world. But most importantly, a story about a boy and a girl that were tested at every turn, but fell in love despite the odds.

Hi! I was looking for a fic I read ages ago. In it Hermione ends up in the body of a pureblood slytherin girl who was dating Tom even though she was engaged to someone else. I remember her waking up in the girls bathroom and realizing she's in someone else's body. The girl was also really dumb/didn't care about school and this is something that sets off bells to everyone involved that something is different with the girl.
Thank you so much for your help!!

T | WIP | 50k
Hermione's in hell and all her nightmares have come true. She's turned into a brainless bimbo and is failing all her classes quite spectacularly. Her teachers have, in fact, already given up on her and just sit back and watch her flunk all her NEWTs. Yes, it's nothing but hell for Hermione. On the upside, things can hardly get any worse. Right?

pinterest showed me some screenshots of posts that gave me the concept for an au where both harry and ron are sorted slytherin & draco is just slightly less rude in the first book. i could go into why i think this makes a lot of sense for ron but i won't. i've affectionately dubbed them the platinum quartet in my head and they will not leave me the fuck alone
#quill to paper#draco malfoy#harry potter#ron weasley#hermione granger#romione#drarry#slytherin harry#slytherin ron#golden trio#platinum quartet#actually i'll go into why it makes sense for ron here in the tags.#imho a major slytherin trait is ambition#and ron *has* ambition he's just never had it actively encouraged and fostered#book fucking one the mirror of erised shows him winning the quidditch cup & being head boy and all#he HAS ambition! and by god does he have something to *prove*#youngest weasley boy who desperately wants to do something different from his family#not get lumped in as 'just another weasley'#he's the anti-sirius in this context tbqh. old pureblood family of gryffindors and he's plastering his room at the burrow w green and silver#in my head draco is also in the train compartment when ron walks in and asks to sit there & harry speaks first so draco shuts up#a little tense but draco also relaxes a little bit. he's ELEVEN he just wants FRIENDS.#ron watches the boys he sat with on the train both get sorted slytherin and has just the biggest burning desire an 11 yr old can have#to get into slytherin instead of gryffindor. to do something different from his other siblings at the gryff table. to Prove Something#the hats like 'ohh. a weasley huh. but so much to prove... there's real ambition#and the potential for cunning... slytherin? alright#good luck! slytherin it is!'#and draco's smug little ass is like 'i suppose there's hope for the weasleys yet if they can turn out a slytherin#and ron is psyched out of his eleven year old gourd bc harry fucking potter is grinning and clapping for him#and also because percy n the twins look SHOCKED AS FUCK as do half the profs#snape is over at the table realizing w complete clarity that he's going to be put thru the ringer as slyth head of house these next 7 yrs

‘dumb jock’
‘rubbish liar’
‘hair-trigger temper’
‘spineless pushover’
‘poor table manners’
‘illegible penmanship’
‘unintelligible speech’
‘gauche and uncouth’
‘bit of a blundering buffoon’
‘wears his emotions like a traffic cone’
‘so oblivious he can’t see his own nose’
‘couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery’
‘brute forces his way without a semblance of plan’
— harry james potter, as wonderfully depicted by the fandom at large but entirely, fundamentally, unfortunately, out of character
pardon me, but is that an oc born of your poor comprehension and fevered imaginations?
what’s wrong with harry as he is? don’t demean him just to elevate your favourites. if you don’t genuinely appreciate him or his canon characteristics, his actual flaws and strengths—not ones you must exaggerate or fabricate—then why waste your time focusing on him?

I hate, HATE IT, when i see people online that ship Draco Malfoy with Hermione Granger, make Astoria Greengrass, a character that we know NOTHING about, a bad guy.
Or people who say that, Narcissa and Lucius forced Draco to get married to her, but he loved Hermione.
Astoria was a bad mom.
After Astoria died, Hermione took her place etc, etc.
Stop it . You know nothing about Astoria, but if you used your brain you would realise that she was actually very liked. She was a good person who supported Muggle borns, and that is why Narcissa and Lucius didnt like her . She was nothing like the Malfoys.
Astoria was an amazing mom and wife. Both her son and husband were devastated to lose her, and Draco nor Scorpius ever replaced her .
Stop putting down characters that do not deserve it, only so that you can enjoy your fics and ships.

Best couple in the history
Ron glanced at Hermione, then said, “What if purebloods swear a Muggle-born’s part of their family? I’ll tell everyone Hermione’s my cousin –”
Hermione covered Ron’s hand with hers and squeezed it.
“Thank you, Ron, but I couldn’t let you –”
“You won’t have a choice,” said Ron fiercely, gripping her hand back. “I’ll teach you my family tree so you can answer questions on it.”

The Bolt, Chapter 2
Pansy presses her lips against his, slowly, sweetly. The tip of her tongue probes his mouth.
Then — suddenly — an image comes to him, so vivid that for a moment he’s not sure where he is: Hermione in the library, her figure illuminated by a large, arched window. She’s bent over a piece of parchment, writing something, strands of her hair catching golden in the light. He’s close enough to see the peach fuzz of her cheeks, the slight knot between her eyebrows, the small ink blotch on her chin, from where she’d rested her quill there to think; he is close enough to trace the elegant line of her collarbone, smell the faint scent of clean linen, lemons, salt. She seems to be emitting a warm, white glow.
They look at each other for a moment, and her eyes are wide, endless, swallowing everything. Then she tilts her head, her lips curving up into a small, bashful smile. She shakes her head: no.
This is not a memory, but it feels like one.
She looks up suddenly, startled.
Draco takes a ragged gasp and shoves Pansy away.

Was thinking about eleven year old Fawn Spots Harry and made myself laugh because he would be so angry that technology doesn’t work at Hogwarts.
Full on “What do you mean Olympus has cell service and the middle of Scotland doesn’t?! It’s not even the same plane of fucking existence and calls aren’t even long distance!” Little man has not been more than a phone call away from his family since he was adopted and he is not coping well, but beyond that the lack of online databases, easy way to compile notes and write the eight million essays they’re assigned, and actual entertainment that isn’t ’dangerous flying dodgeball’ (which he does love tbh but still not everyone does) would drive him up the wall. Fuck the lack of things like highlighters and binders would piss him off.
He would show up with a spiral notebook and a mechanical pencil and a pureblood child would pass out from shock. He writes his family constantly begging for any and all stationary they can send. He uses breaks to type up last term’s notes and introduces the first final study guide in Times New Roman into Hogwarts and makes a killing off of selling them. The older pureblood students beg on bended knee for help making their own and the muggleborns realize oh shit they can corner the market per year and subject. Harry will drag Hogwarts into the modern age if he has to do so kicking and screaming.

This single-handedly shows the brilliance behind the masterful application of the “show, don’t tell” rule of writing. GTC doesn’t explain or tell us what’s going on in the characters’ minds, she describes it instead. I personally think this one scene represents their entire relationship dynamic throughout the whole series. I’m in love.
Thank you for this masterpiece @greenerteacups 🩶

Wizarding Blood-Purity is a Sham
I think that a lot of people forget that Salazar Slytherin wasn't racist.
And no, before you go all crazy on me just remember in the second book, when fear and anger and all kinds of emotions were running wild and everyone distrusted Slytherin House, students asked a teacher about what happened. And that teacher, a ghost who for all we know could have been there when it actually happened, gave an honest answer.
"Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed that magical learning should be kept within all-magic families. He disliked taking students of Muggle parentage, believing them to be untrustworthy."
Look at the language. Look at it, and understand that Salazar didn't see Muggle-borns as inferior, as worse. He saw them as untrustworthy.
Why, you ask? Well Professor Binns answers that as well!
"[The founders] built this castle together, far from prying Muggle eyes, for it was an age when magic was feared by common people, and witches and wizard suffered much persecution."
Salazar didn't like Muggles because they were hunting his family, his people, and persecuting them with horrific violence. He didn't trust Muggle-borns because how could he know that they wouldn't betray the magical world and tell their families that the kid two villages over practices magic with him on Tuesdays?
And yes, witches and wizards had ways to make it look like they burned at the stake when they actually survived, such as the Flame-Freezing Charm. But young children, with little control over their magic? If they were caught or exposed, well, it probably wouldn't end well for them.
Plus, wizardkind is outnumbered by Muggles, by a huge amount. If a village of Muggles who hated and feared magic discovered that a family of wizards and witches was among them, the parents would be burdened with trying to flee from a few hundred people while protecting their kids (who can't control their magic).
Salazar Slytherin didn't like Muggles or Muggle-borns. He hated them and feared them, not because they were inferior, but because they were dangerous. And while murdering children with a giant snake is not a good way to solve this danger to his family, people, and culture, it HAS to be seen that his actions were born not from arrogance, but from fear.
And there were Slytherins who knew this, long before Muggles had become so othered from wizarding society that some families started to believe that Muggles were inferior to those with "pure blood." Like Merlin, Prince of Enchanters, arguably the greatest wizard of all time, who founded the Order of Merlin to protect and aid Muggles, whose name has become synonymous with Muggle rights activisim. Merlin, a Slytherin.
If Salazar Slytherin was alive in the 20th century, he would laugh at the idea that Muggles were inferior. He would be the first to point out that Lily Evans and Hermione Granger, the brightest witches of their age, were Muggle-born. He would scorn the idea that pure-bloods were better, saying if that's true, why is Draco Malfoy, a pure-blood, second to a Muggle-born?
Salazar had questionable morals, to be sure (anyone who doesn't think so can re-read the Chamber of Secrets, where he hid a giant snake in a school full of children to murder the ones he deemed dangerous). But he never, never once thought that Muggles were inferior to wizards.

Hi! Do you know of any fics where Hermione's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Granger, are wizards but choose to hide their magical abilities or don't practice magic?
This is like that:
Alexandra By: Gallopin' Gorgons - M, 35 chapters - After restoring her parents memories, Hermione finds out she isn’t who she always believed to be. However, she decides not to let this new development affect her live at all. Problem is, life does seem to happen when you’re busy making other plans. Especially, when a charming Draco, a meddling Narcissa and 2 rogue Death Eaters turn it upside down. M for a reason

Hi! Any fics where Hermione is a Malfoy (by blood or through adoption)? Thanks!
Hey Anon,
In Daddy Dearest she's an actual Malfoy, and the other three she's either adopted/a ward or step-child of Malfoys. -JD
Daddy Dearest by ImmortalObsession M | Complete | 108k Lady Hermione isn't quite right in the head. Her kingdom resides in a manor full-of-monsters. She has regular conversations with the Devil and fancies a dark knight who wants to kill her in her sleep. If not for the wonderful library, she might have lost her wits completely by now. Instead, she passes the time with music lessons and plots of murder.
To the Victors by FreyaFallen M | WIP | 89k Grindewald fell in 1950: the five years in which he still held sway changed the course of history. Wizarding Britain, terrified at threats to the Statute of Secrecy, decided in the late 50s to pass the Muggleborn Wizarding Appropriation Act, which took muggleborn children from their parents at the first incidence of accidental magic. Children could be fostered or adopted by wizarding families, or would live in Wizarding Institutional Houses. Some Pureblood families took things a step further and decided to foster children in case they only had one heir to act as a sibling, companion, and stand-in for punishments deemed too harsh for their own children. If the muggleborn did well, they reasoned, it meant they had earned their place in the wizarding world.
Hermione Granger is such a child, chosen at a young age to be Draco Malfoy's companion. She's an ideal muggleborn: polite, intelligent, and capable. It's not until she attends Hogwarts that someone sees her potential. She becomes the favorite of a certain professor, who sees her power for what it is.
Meanwhile, Lucius Malfoy is embroiled in Wizarding politics, influenced by his sister-in-law's mad manipulations.
Endless Night by cassidyblackwrites E/Ma | WIP | 21k The one in which Hermione is Abraxas Malfoy’s step-sister. 1940s - 1950s AU
Our Magic Knows No Bounds by PinkGlitterMasturbation E/Ma | Complete | 358k Narcissa Malfoy is done with crazy, and she is determined to fix the mess her life has become. She has brains, a plan, and more than one dark spell to help her. But before she can put her plan into motion, she discovers a shocking secret about Hermione Granger, one that the girl doesn't even realize about herself. Before Hermione knows it, Narcissa has cursed them both, sending them back in time to deal with the Dark Lord in the form of the child Tom Riddle. Of course, Tom is no ordinary child, and time doesn't take kindly to being rewritten, so this will be a bumpy ride full of awesome, magical women, pragmatic decisions, and, rest assured, dear readers, plenty of sex eventually!

Uk, on look back, i think class and social standing have such a profound effect on muggle born and half blood students without impressive sir names who enter the wizarding world for the first time. With Hermione, the reason she never felt any lesser than the purebloods is probably because she's not disadvantaged compared to them in any major way. In the books her parents r both dentists, so she's financially well off, also she takes at least one international trip to France during the holidays(I was pretty young when I read these books and my country is much poorer than Britain, so i'd just assumed tht was what regular British PPL do lol). Wizards like the Weasleys show her how it's possible to live a happy (if poor) life without having those political connections and influence. There's already been a huge war against the guy and his followers discriminating against ppl like her. Also there weren't really ppl to make her feel inferior; Draco and pansy r such annoying idiots, literally no one took them seriously apart from their little clique. (HOWEVER, idk y Rowling never went deep into how a killer snake roaming around the castle trying to kill ppl lyk her would affect a fucking 12 yr old, probably coz she doesn't exactly know what being discriminated against feels lyk; which ofc I m glad for, no one should, but tht doesn't excuse shallow writing)
Things couldn't have been more different with lily tho. We don't exactly know what her financial situation was lyk, but it's also pretty clear that she doesn't exactly come from money. Sure, slughorn took notice of her, but he's surprised tht she could be smart despite being muggleborn even 15 yrs after her death (none of the teachers in Harry's time discriminate this way). Also she went to school with PPL who became actual death eaters: Avery, muliciber, rosier, wilkies, regulus, barty Crouch jr, Lucius (early on) and ofc, Snape, her childhood friend. Not to mention the war was going on when she was in school (progressed as the yrs passed), ppl were scared and u couldn't trust anyone(so sympathizing with the purebloods probably wasn't that much of an unpopular opinion as it was during Harry's time), and it seemed like the death eaters were winning. Her chances of financial security and employment were almost non existent, given that half of the wizarding world was out there trying to murder PPL like her. Seriously, things couldn't hv been worse tbh

I'm writing my little Dramione fanfic and it made me wonder about some logistics with the muggle and wizarding world co-existing
Do people raised in the wizarding world exist on paper in the muggle world, like theoretically would they have a birth certificate proving they exist?
Do they pay taxes? And to whom?
What happens when a wizard commits a crime in the Muggle world? Which legal system takes precedence?
Is there a formal exchange rate between Galleons and Muggle currencies?
What happens to the Muggle real estate market in areas with high wizard populations?
Is there a seperate real estate market for wizards, if so, does that mean a career choice in the wizarding world is to become a real estate agent?
What measures are in place to prevent the magical creature population from affecting Muggle ecosystems?
How does the wizarding world address global Muggle issues like climate change that affect both communities?
Is there a magical stock market?
How did the muggle government explain away all the disaster caused by the wizarding war in Harry Potter?
okay thats all!

Ron-I would die for her- Weasley
“Take these prisoners down to the cellar, Greyback.”
“Wait,” said Bellatrix sharply.
“All except. . . . except for the Mudblood.” Greyback gave a grunt of pleasure.
“No!” shouted Ron. “You can have me, keep me!”
Bellatrix hit him across the face: the blow echoed around the room.
“If she dies under questioning, I’ll take you next,” she said.
