This is an Imogen appreciation post.

A lot of people get really frustrated with Imogen’s pursuit of Nick, and I totally get it, but she ends up being such an amazing character and here’s why:

1. I actually love at the party when she tells Nick “I really like you. You don’t have to reply right now, I just wanted you to know.” That’s such a healthy way to tell someone that you like them, there’s no pressure and it gives them time to process. (She does get it wrong later by asking Nick out in front of everyone, but to be fair Harry was pressuring her)

2. She doesn’t freak out when Nick cancels the date day of, which at that age is a miracle.

3. She takes the rejection so well and maturely. Like yeah, she’s a bit confused and upset. It’s never easy to hear that someone doesn’t like you back, but she doesn’t get mad and she immediately backs off and they even manage to going back to being friends.

4. She thanks Nick for telling her he doesn’t like her. She’s able to appreciate good communication and she probably knows that wasn’t easy for him to say. It also shows that she was genuinely interested in a mutual relationship with Nick, she didn’t just want him to be with her for her sake.

5. I think I truly began to love Imogen when she tells the rugby lads “I just think I can do better.” Let me explain: there’s this idea that all guys want a relationship at all times and any guy who says no must be gay or something. Like, girls are allowed to be picky or just not be into a guy without their sexuality being questioned. But I’ve heard so many ace guys talk about how there’s this expectation that as guys they must want sex at all times, so saying no to the opportunity for it brings their manhood into question. It’s this awful combination of compulsory heteronormativity and toxic masculinity. So if Imogen had told the truth when the rugby lads were asking about it, that would put Nick in an awkward position. And I think, to some extent, Imogen knows this. Maybe only subconsciously, she understands that it would look bad for Nick if it came out that Nick rejected her. I don’t think she suspected he wasn’t straight yet, but she had the emotional intelligence to lie and say she rejected him. No one’s gonna question her for that. And she made it a joke, which helped ease the tension.

6. Her little smile when Nick leads Charlie off the field. An ally indeed.

7. I love that Nick was allowed to not be into Imogen without his bisexuality being questioned. Just because you can feel attraction to a gender doesn’t mean you feel attraction to all people of that gender. And it wasn’t even, ‘I can’t because I’m dating someone else’ it was ‘I just don’t like you like that.’

It would’ve been really easy to turn Imogen into a villain, the evil girl trying to break up the couple, but Alice managed to write her with so much maturity and I just love that (not that I’m surprised). I know of so many shows where a girl interferes with the otp and the fandom immediately hates her, and Alice really said, not today, and made her such a good character.

I hope she’s still around in season 2 as a side character, although I’ll admit I don’t want to see a love story for her (if I wanted to see an unnecessary cis het romance I’d put on any other show on the planet). I’d love to see her incorporated into the friend group.

Oh I’m so not ready for season 2!

Did Machete ever feel guilty when he raised his voice to Vasco? (I don't know if this has already been asked)

Absolutely. To be fair, Machete barely ever raises his voice (he's more of a quiet, grudgeful, seething type), and he has more patience for Vasco than everyone else combined.

But when he does, he instantly spirals into despair and self-loathing and is usually the first to apologize, profusely.

The first time Vox said, "I love you," to Valentino, it went horribly wrong, because Val laughed and made a joke about how often he's heard that as a sex worker (especially now that he's in Hell and has become a walking talking aphrodisiac that Vox was currently high on). Vox is now so self conscious about his feelings and has never voiced them that way since. In Val's mind, he told Vox to only say that if he means it, but Vox hasn't told Val he loves him ever again, so Val certainly isn't going to be the one to say it first.

Meet Hematite and Jasper, a gem power couple and both halves of the fusion Bloodstone [design not yet made].

Yes, this is a Steven Universe/Dracula AU. Am I the first to ever do it? I doubt so, but I definitely am the best to ever do it.

I have all the gems lined up though I have not yet designed any. Pray for me if/when I try. A few of the gems are simple variations of the types we see in the show (like Green Jasper), though there are some that I had to conceptualize a place in gem society for (like Hematite). None of the main characters are human, though if I were to make any character human, it would be Arthur. That would change the story, dramatically, so I won't.

She/her pronouns for all the characters because I am not forcing a system as archaic as gender on a genderless society like that of Homeworld. We have the Gem Caste System to make the characters suffer under anyhow.

Hematite is part of a class of gems whose role in gem society is most akin to human property lawyers. You might notice the resemblance to Zircons, which serve as attorneys in gem society. They deal in the management of transferring ownership of gem colonies. Gem colonies are most often given to high-ranking gems as proof of valour. As such, Hematites are few in number and they rarely if ever face combat.

(Green) Jasper is a Quartz soldier that was formed slightly offcolour. Instead of being broad and muscular, she formed thin and tall. Despite this, she retains much of the same strength of a regular Quartz and strives to prove her worth to her peers and her commander, Onyx.

Hematite was working with Onyx when she met Jasper, and something indescribable pulled them toward each other. Onyx, noticing their interest in each other, offered to let Jasper act as a bodyguard on Hematite's missions. It was on one of these missions that they met their friend Padparadscha, a noble gem with the power to see the future.

The day they fused, Jasper knew that she could not return to her life as a Quartz soldier, and Hematite no longer wanted to push papers to divvy out colonies. All they wanted was to find a place where they would be safe to be together. So, they turned to Padparadscha, who greeted their fusion with giddiness as she had known all along that they would fuse. With her foresight, she named the fusion Bloodstone, and with her influence, protected Bloodstone from Homeworld.

Bloodstone was uninvolved in the conflict on Earth, but when Steven Universe established Little Homeworld, she took the opportunity to live freely amongst other gems like her.

One day, she came upon the concept of human marriage and was enchanted. Hematite and Jasper unfused in preparation for the wedding. At that time, Hematite was to go on a mission to a faraway moon colony owned by a militant Andradite to inform her that the war was over and invite her to Little Homeworld... but what lies in store for her there?

Here's my RadioApple fanchild Gracie! I'm not proud of her design, but hopefully it's ok. (Before anyone gets excited, I still don't ship them, I prefer Charlastor and RadioStatic. But If I made a Charlastor child it would feel weird to also make a Chaggie child. I'm making this for the angst. You'll see)

They never agree on how to parent. Alastor will mess this child up if it's the last thing he does. He's still the fun parent though. She was an "accident". Ooh, drama~ They will never tell who's the dad and who's the mom. (No one must know) Gracie can shapeshift like Lucifer, but it takes a lot out of her.
