Walking in silence is an ancient tradition rooted in mindfulness, a form of meditation that helps people focus on the physical sensations, thoughts and emotions of the present moment, without any judgment.
The Beauty of a Silent Walk
No talking. No podcasts. No music. Just some time alone with your thoughts.

Exercise scientists long ago debunked the notion that you need to hit 10,000 steps each day to stay healthy and live longer. Even a little movement is good, they argue, though more is better. Now, a new study underscores that people can reap significant benefits from a comparatively small number of daily steps.
Even 4,000 Steps a Day Can Have Big Health Benefits
But the more you walk, the better off you'll be.

It's so annoying how they (Big Life Advice) are right about how regular exercise helps with everything ever... didn't want to believe it but its true... 💔
#i didnt even think my regular neck/back pain was a problem that could be fixed i just accepted it as fate#but after 2 months of strength training? Evaporated#and they also werent lying about the mental health benefits. SIGH. its true im afraid#and btw going for walks is nice and def better than nothing but it's not really enough#for the full health benefits... you need more intense exercise#but yeah obviously anything you can do is better than not moving & it's all about finding ways to get more movement into your life#p

I feel like we've all accepted that men don't listen to AFAB people, but we don't focus enough on the fact that women don't listen to AFAB people either
Like I told my boss that I have a lot going on right now so might need a gentle reminder occasionally to do something that I've forgotten about and somehow she twisted that into me asking her to set aside 15 minutes every morning to send me a full task list and how absurd that is to request. Like...um yeah I didn't....that's why I didn't request that
#yOu nEeD to bE PrOAcTIve#im proactively applying for benefit babe#im proactively updating my cv#im proactively applying for part time jobs bc im dealing with massive health issues#sorry rememvering to do something you mentioned once is being eclipsed by the suddwn reality that i might not make it to 50#sorrrryyyy#(any typos arent bc im drunk or anything but because i walked for 5 minutes and lost circulation in my thumbs)

the thing about "just do exercise" as a solution to disability is that, like, i do have to admit sometimes it's genuine, especially with mental health stuff i've found getting out of the house has been really good for me on that front and i can't deny that.
but on the flip side, it actively makes my physical disability worse on some days to exercise, the strain it puts on my leg leaves it in pain for the rest of the day or sometimes the day after and a lot of the time i'll get home completely exhausted even if i enjoyed the walk despite that. i've been getting out for casual strolls and longer hikes more as of this year and even if i've seen the mental benefits, the physical ones i have not seen, and only ended up suffering more for it.
so, i don't know. i have a very specific disability that gets one of those generic muscle disorder diagnoses so maybe this only applies to me, but i think if you give regular exercise at least a solid few weeks and it is just causing more pain and fatigue then its worth telling your doctor to shut the fuck up (if you can).
#and i want to be clear i do genuinely enjoy walks. theyre fun. theres a lot of nice things outside to look at and touch and smell#it is just a painful exercise with not a lot if at all health benefit some days and it upsets me as a one size fits all solution#i can do a million walks and a million pushups and it will not make my toe muscles magically work

Different Types Of Walking Recommended For Seniors
Before we get into the various types of walking workouts, let's discuss the benefits of walking for seniors. Walking has several benefits that improve overall health and enjoyment of life. Walking, for instance, strengthens the heart and improves cardiovascular health. It enhances blood circulation, lowers blood pressure, and reduces the likelihood of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Second, walking is an effective way to burn calories and maintain a healthy weight. Walking on a daily basis can help seniors manage their weight and avoid obesity-related health issues including diabetes and joint difficulties. Walking also helps to strengthen muscles and bones, which is vital for maintaining flexibility and coordination while also minimizing the chance of falling.

I'm so sorry that people are once again missing the point of your spiderverse posts. You do not deserve to be called mean things for pointing out the inherent ableism in the art direction of those films. Thanks for your posts!
Aww thank you for your kind words!!!! I will say, I usually do not put these posts out there, unless I am willing and able to deal with people like this. I understand feeling adverse and riled up by reading "fuck your favourite movie that has brought you a lot of joy" as part of the first sentence, but also I think the rest of my post was fairly nuanced given it's opening line. Fun fact: I will also admit... I woke up, saturday morning and had angry eyebrows and thought "I wanna start shit" and I was fully ready to just post "fuck spiderverse because it has ableist art direction" - but as always re-reading the post I figured adding nuance and context may be more helpful to the conversation... so honestly, I think the post is mostly a calm statement with an attention-seeking Opening line. Thank you again for your kind words and support! Maybe i should do these posts on LinkedIn instead of tumblr, in the hopes that anyone at Sony may actually see this... Rest assured - i am more amazed and amused by people threatening me over an opinion on art and what makes a good consumer oriented product.
#actually epileptic#seizureverse#spiderverse#am i considering blazing some of these posts i make? maybe#spiderverse is an amazing concept and movie but it has ableist art direction and effects and even if the creators were not malicious#they were negligent at best and sony should be called out for risking their viewers health and hiding great story behind accessibility issu#answers asks#you can enjoy this movie and still acknowledge that it is designed to be inaccesible and dangerous for the audience#even non epileptic people walk out of the cinema with migraines#headaches and dizziness so i think we have a point that this is more than just regular flashy lights#why are fans okay with having their favorite movie and great representation be dangerous to others who could benefit from seeing the film
