Reo noticed how most of your conversations was just you blatantly asking him for money before kissing him goodbye. To be honest, he was scared. Not because there was a chance of you using him but because you might’ve known about what he was doing behind your back and you were doing this as revenge.

Then, you started doing something bigger. He gave you free will of his credit card, saying that you deserved to treat yourself because you were his so called “love of his life”. You bought designer brands, buying jewelry that god knows you can’t afford, treating your friends for days and days. And when he noticed the fatal drop in his savings, he finally confronted you. You could only really laugh at him for now only noticing your intentions recently.

He became disheartened — but really, who has he to be disappointed in what you did when he had done something much more evil? So when you told him that you knew about his little act, he could feel his heart drop.

He tried telling you that the girl who he supposedly “fucked” was just a bitch who could only create fake rumors but you’re not dumb, he knows that.

Shortly after, he became mad. He was screaming at you as if you started all of this. Victimizing himself, saying that if you really loved him, you would confront and talk to him about it like a normal person.

People would view your relationship with Sae as destiny, i mean it certainly had to be fate, right? The light pink-haired man really didn’t let anyone in his life except for you. The two of you were happy in the world that you had created for yourselves! Or so you thought.

It turns out that Sae actually never loved you that much, you were just a replacement for his ex. You knew how harsh his past relationship with this girl was and boy, it frustrated you because how did he manage to play with your heart for two whole years?

Your efforts to make him love you didn’t go to waste, right? He did say he “loved” kissing you,  making sure to cuddle you every now and then. But who were you kidding, you could see right through his ice cold heart.

- He does everything to make sure he's the best boyfriend you've ever had and hopefully good enough to be your last he's very good at it too he never takes you for granted and always makes sure he makes time for you especially when he knows you need him most

- Joao knows how to treat a woman right and he’s been in long term relationships so he’s pretty good at it but after his last relationship he blames himself for not being a good enough boyfriend  to her and not doing enough so he’s determined to not make the same mistake again 

- You always try and tell him that he wasn’t the reason his last relationship ended and that he’s more than good enough for you but still he insists on treating you like you are the only girl left on earth which obviously you love as he makes you feel so special 

- One of the many things that makes Joao a great boyfriend is that he knows you better than you know yourself at times he can pick up on when you are stressed and can help you before you have a breakdown and he just seems to always know how you are feeling without you telling him

Remember not so long ago, when everyone was talking about "quiet quitting"? The concept of "don't actually quit your job but do just enough to keep getting paid"? I think the concept has made it to the NHL.

The people who are sticking up for Sid are older, former players who know exactly what Sid went through, know how he never asked to be handed anything, was willing to work for it, refused to be intimidated or stopped just because someone knocked out several of his teeth and left him with blood running down his chin.

Some younger players still get it, still understand. Others? I'm just going to assume they don't. A lot of on-ice violence for the sake of violence has been eliminated or reduced (not enough, but some) precisely because of what Sid's been through. (Where do we think the NHL would be today if Sid hadn't managed to come back from his concussion?)

A lot of the off-ice hazing, the kind of nasty, abusive (potentially criminal) stuff that happened behind closed locker room doors, that was never spoken of outside of "team," doesn't exist anymore. At least not in the Pens' locker room. Because Sid won't allow it.

In my own experience, my kids routinely tell me I should be paid more, or work less, or both. And, well, they aren't wrong. But I work because what I do pays the bills (barely, but it does). And while they lament that I deserve better pay, that I shouldn't have to work as hard as I do, it seemingly doesn't occur to them that they could get a job and help take some of the pressure off of me*.

Because, you know, as with Sid, it's easy for a younger teammate to say, "our captain deserves better." And even mean it. (Though some, I suspect, find it a challenge even to say that.) Time to talk about Martin as a Buried avatar because I am aware this seems like an odd choice in my au but I have my reasons.

So, to get a little personal for a moment (this is relevant I promise), I have often felt trapped by my own mental illnesses, my differences to others, and my need for people to like me. For a long time I forced myself to do whatever I could to help others because in my mind if I didn’t then they would have no reason to like me and people had to like me because it was better that I was burning myself out than being alone again. I think you can see the similarities between my own experiences and Martin.

The Buried I think is often overlooked, and I feel like a lot could have been done with being trapped by your own anxiety, where you’re buried underneath the worries of everyone else and can’t escape the hell of your own creation because you’re so afraid to be a bad person.

While Martin very much fits the Lonely and the Web, I feel season 1/2 Martin had such a potential to become aligned with the Buried instead. Rather than isolating himself, Martin becomes more and more desperate to help everyone around him because if he helps them, then he’s useful, but this also leaves him unable to do anything else. He’s so caught up in keeping everyone else happy (or at least as close to it as he can get them) that he struggles to do anything else. His anxiety around how others view him traps him, and the powers around him want him stuck.

Now the Shifted Gaze Martin is in a slightly different situation to canon Martin by the time the story starts as he’s actually friends with Jon. Jon is already well on his way to becoming a Web avatar, so he’s a pretty different person to what he is in canon. He’s still really not the best at socialising, but it’s more in a he says the bare minimum of words he needs to rather than he’s being a dick kind of way. To put a long story short, Martin sees this man who is completely alone, and makes it his mission to ensure Jon isn’t as alone as he is.

The thing is in doing so, he accidentally becomes the one thing keeping Jon’s humanity alive, and that makes Martin the perfect target for the Buried. Martin begins by being trapped trying to help Jon, then that extends to Sasha and Tim when he joins the archival team, and he does not have the time or energy to take care of himself. Martin and Jon’s dynamic in this au is really not the healthiest lol. I’d say it gets better but that would be a lie. Martin so strongly ties himself to the people he cares for he stops caring about what happens to himself, and when certain events happen, well let’s just say the Buried gets a new avatar.

Martin is still aligned with the Lonely in some ways in this au, but the Buried is what claims him.

Btw sorry if any of this is rambly or doesn’t make sense, I am writing this while sleep deprived lol. I feel like this will really start to make sense as I write him in the actual story rather than me explaining it this way since I have to leave out some major things due to spoiler reasons. Jack looked in the mirror, somehow expecting to see somehow something changed and for his muscles to look as big as he wanted them to. However, he saw the same as always, even though he had been training for months, Jack had reached a plateau and had not been able to gain any mass for a long time, and he was already desperate. His dream was to have a body that could be compared to Superman himself, but he was still a long way from achieving this goal. It also didn't help much to see many other men who could easily crack a nut by squeezing it with their biceps.

Without meaning to, Jack stared at one of the biggest men in the gym as he watched him do his reps with the weights, getting biceps as big as his head and seeming to grow every time the blood flowed through his bulging veins. Jack wanted that, to have biceps that could snap the neck of anyone who would go against him, to have a body so sculpted that everyone would gawk at him, having to stop doing whatever they were doing to adore his perfection. As he thought this Jack stroked his biceps, wishing that at some point he could have the gargantuan bodies of the superheroes in the movies.

Suddenly, Jack felt a tingling in his body, starting in his biceps and gradually spreading throughout his body. It was a pleasant sensation, as if he had suddenly infused himself with extra energy that was heating up his whole body. Without meaning to, he let out a small moan enjoying that pleasurable sensation he was feeling, while he kept looking at that man lifting his weights, who seemed to have a serious problem to keep going. Suddenly, Jack took a closer look, and saw how little by little the muscles of that man were receding, leaving behind an increasingly thinner and thinner man, who could no longer at all represent as a model of what Jack wanted to achieve. Suddenly, instinctively, Jack looked away from the man and checked himself in the mirror, and to his surprise something had changed.

There was nothing left of the Jack of before, who suffered for gaining a minimum of muscle mass. In front of the mirror there was someone different, someone who would have nothing to envy from professional bodybuilders.

Somehow, Jack understood what was happening, and smiled wickedly as he looked sideways at that hunk who was now a simple twink who was looking at himself in horror not knowing what the hell had just happened and what had happened to his muscles, while another guy was helping him hold the weights he could no longer lift. Jack was feeling plethoric, but why settle for so little when you can have more?

Trying to replicate what he had done earlier, he stared at the man who had assisted the guy who had just had his strength drained. Soon he felt the energy flowing through his body again, coming like a tsunami from his victim to his body, greedily absorbing every bit of energy it could. The process was much shorter than before, draining that other man completely until he was left with barely any energy, as Jack felt his body expand in an orgasmic feeling.

It had been too fast though, and hadn't given him time to enjoy it at all, so why stop when they had little muscle and energy left when he could still take more, taking absolutely everything? After all, his mother always told him it was rude to leave food on his plate.

An hour later, Jack was posing in the gym, showing off his huge muscles in front of the mirror. What had started with a single victim had begun to escalate, and as people noticed what was really going on, Jack had had no choice but to end up draining the life and energy out of everyone. Well, to say he had no choice sounds like it was something he didn't want to do, which is not the case. Now the gym was empty, with dozens of T-shirts and sweatpants littering the floor, which was all that was left of the victims of Jack's greed for more and more muscle. As he looked in the mirror he thought how his body totally looked like that of a comic book superhero. However, if it had been so easy to get to that level, why settle? There would always be more muscles to take, and now settling for the physique of a superhero seemed ridiculous, his new goal would be to get the physique of a true god, being able to look down on the rest of mortals while he took more and more energy from them, becoming more and more powerful. Suddenly, Jack's body tingled again, so much thinking about what he could achieve had reawakened his appetite, an insatiable appetite for more strength, more muscle, more size, more EVERYTHING.

Nightmare is NOT a good person. I think that he does have triggers and some degrees of empathy but even then it's the bare minimum due to the bullying he had endured before being corrupted. He is an absolute devil, and the only kindness he will ever show is to manipulate someone. He would never care for those under him (bad sanses), and honestly if they die? He'll just get a new one.

He is THE negativity. He is arrogant. He is evil and takes pride in it. He is not a good person. Which is why it's important to really seperate canon Nightmare and fanon Nightmare. Doing fanon Nightmare (I also do fanon Nightmare sometimes) but with awareness is okay, though.

On that note, I also hate when people make Dream evil. He isn't. Period.
