They NEEDED Steve to disappear, to be gone. To never care about Bucky anymore. That way they could treat Bucky as they see fit, and that means treating him like shit.

Steve would NEVER accept or allow Bucky to make amends, he would NEVER let the government take care of Bucky or be part of his “rehabilitation” in any way shape or form. That’s why he became Nomad, that’s why Bucky stayed in Wakanda. He would had fight with teeth and nails for Bucky.

“He died already more than once! He was a victim! A prisoner of war. He saved the fucking universe. What the fuck do you mean with amends!”

He became a wanted criminal for that same reason, to not let them have Bucky (nor other people in a fucking watchlist)

They needed Steves relationship with Bucky to become bitter, to be nothing more than a memory.

Steve being in retirement wouldn’t have cut it and…

Bucky was always going to follow Steve, no matter what.

So they needed him to stay alone (or with a companion that didn’t really care as much as Steve, enter Sam)

This way they killed two birds with one stone in Endgame: Reinforcing Steves “love” for Peggy, because “he’s NOT gay, you guys!”, and the partial isolation of Bucky.

anyway! au where jiang fengmian brings back a starving orphan from the streets, and his name is yue qi.

(what happened to wei wuxian? don't worry about it it's fine) (idk maybe he doesn't exist? whatever)

yue qi is strong. yue qi is talented. yue qi tries harder than anyone. yue qi is perfect and you can't even really be irritated at him for it, because he's nice and polite and good-tempered and absolutely everything you could ask for in a da-shixiong.

jiang cheng feels so fucking bad about this. second best even in a whole new au, huh, a-cheng? but it's not your fault. even op protagonist bing-ge couldn't beat yue qi in a fair fight!

nobody knows this, though, so you're just going to have to suffer through the comparisons. it's your mom and your dad and all the little disciples thinking that yue qi is better than you. ooooh, that can't be good for that burgeoning inferiority complex your mom's instilled in you, huh?

but, you know. jiang cheng's going to be sect leader. he's going to need a strong sect. even if his mom fuckin bitches at him for not being as good as yue qi -- yue qingyuan -- then at least he's going to have a strong right hand, right?

HAHAHAHA.

so there are two routes we can go here. for the sake of my early morning ramblings, we're going to go for the more unrealistic one that requires me to jump through more hoops, because i think it's hilarious.

yue qingyuan starts getting more distant as he gets older. going on long nighthunts away from the lotus pier, you know. he stops leading the disciples in morning drills -- or, well, it's less that he stops, and more that he's not around to actually do that.

he's not around a lot.

snide, snide commentary about how yue qingyuan is going to run away to become a rogue cultivator, just like -- (but we don't talk about them). how yue qingyuan's not going to be da-shixiong for much longer. every time yue qingyuan returns to lotus pier, he seems to be more tired, more wound up, more stressed out --

and then everything stops. yue qingyuan comes back one day emotionally catatonic. he doesn't respond properly when people talk to him. unrelatedly (of course it's unrelated), there is some wailing and weeping in the night. some little shidi thinks that somehow a resentful ghost has made it into the pier and alerts da-shixiong about it in the morning.

thankfully, da-shixiong is back to normal in the morning. "i'll take a look," da-shixiong says, and then everybody forgets about it because da-shixiong is back and da-shixiong stops going on those long nighthunts away and everything is fiiiinnnne, don't worry. and if da-shixiong is a bit more brittle after that -- well, you're probably just imagining it.

jiang cheng worries about it. but yue qingyuan never says anything, because that's what yue qingyuan does. he never says annnnnnything to anyone.

of course, there's only so long you can argue with da-shixiong when the plot is coming up. gusu happens. the wens happen.

jiang cheng and yue qingyuan get sent to the wen evil summer camp, or whatever it's called. indoctrination, right?

lectures. drills. meaningless busy work for the sake of beating people down. obedience, and more obedience. there's a wen staring down every class, just waiting for them to slip up. there's one in particular that seems to have it out for yue qingyuan, sharp mouthed and pointy and HAHAHA OKAY, you've probably guessed who this is, haven't you? you're a genre-savvy audience, i bet!

ah, but i'll spell it out anyway, don't worry. for a-cheng, maybe, because jiang cheng can't guess, because yue qingyuan doesn't tell him anything. jiang cheng's out of the loop, on the outside, like he always is with yue qingyuan. don't worry, jiang cheng -- you're not special. he treats you like he treats everyone else.

but ah, that's the problem, isn't it?

jiang cheng stumbles over da-shixiong at night, past curfew, arguing with the wen. or, really, it's not arguing -- the wen is verbally eviscerating him, and yue qingyuan is just letting him. attacks on yue qingyuan's character and talent and everything, and about how yue qi's CLEARLY found a replacement (replacement? what does that mean?) and fine, you think you're so respectable now, of course only a high-bred sect heir is good for you (that jiang-gongzi, do you think he's a better version of me) (is this the version of me you've always wanted?) --

all yue qingyuan says is "i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry--"

there's got to be one question on your mind, huh, a-cheng? yue qingyuan seems to know this wen. pretty well, it seems -- those insults aren't generic, this seems personal. why? how?

I think that the 2010's media landscape of Buzzfeed articles about plotholes in disney movies, Cinemasins critiques, and Watchmojo Top Ten scenes in movies that make no sense has truely ruined a lot of media. People are afraid that their work will be torn down if they dare leave a single thing up in the air, if they dare ask their audience to suspend their disbelief.

All too often nowadays I see stories (especially fantasy), take the time to explain how every small aspect of the world works and how it all logically makes sense. The constant time stopped to explain why an event happened, how this object works, or why this is important to the characters. It's just really not needed and it honestly makes a lot of stories worse.

I am of the opinion that the best stories truly just drop you into their world and explain nothing. They just take you through the story of this world and you just have to accept it and continue on. "When he became king, the land became barren." I don't want the story to stop and explain why this is, or how it happened, I want us to move on so we can just assume that the king has such rancid vibes that everything died.

what is the thing that you are the most passionate about in life and why? what sparked your interest in it? is their a goal with it you want to reach, and are you actively working on your passion, or is it just something you know a lot about?

Uhhhh i was going to say reading and writing but then I realize both persuits kinda fall flat in the face of the main passion.

I love storytelling. Or really I love stories. I love telling stories (i talk way too much irl). I love listening to stories. I love being immersed in stories where I can hear the voices in my head with their inflections their intonations, their lil quirks), to make them living, breathing shadows. I love writing where I can create the stories and go as microscopic and talk about this one leaf that became part of a bouquet between a girl and her lover and its importance, or to go as high and as far as I can with the grand brush strokes of worldbuilding. I love my original characters and their journeys and I've grown up with some of them, just as they have with me.

I love all the mediums I can find stories now. Certain shows, movies, (although, admittedly, am bad at watching them), books, videogames, DND (i listen to podcasts and friends stories bc i don't have enough real-world friends to play with *sigh*), chatting with friends and family, art, tumblr, ao3... like there are so many stories! I'm sad that i won't be able to experience all of them.

And like obvs there are elements in stories I like more than others and not all stories are the same but...idk. I love them. it's perhaps the one thing that can get me light up or really talking and then, well, I've said too much information

All the segments of teen Wu in season 9 are so funny cuz everyone’s just like “Wu, do you know where the dragon armor is?” and Wu’s actual unironic response is “Yeah it came to me in a dream ☺️”

And since they literally have no alternatives in this situation they just. Go in whatever random direction Wu points them in. And I get that’s kinda the point of the whole faith thing and everything but it’s so ridiculous that it’s both funny and terrifying at the same time.

these are literally some of the dumbest tags ive ever seen. like. there’s SO much here that’s untrue, including the empathy part. “love couldnt have fixed him as a child” have you considered he didnt need to be fixed??? Did you even watch the show???? Love would have ABSOLUTELY helped him, and he didn’t need to be fixed.

like i shouldnt be surprised that people on here are Siding On The Side Of Child Abuse but… and just like god there’s so many Factual Errors here, shitty and cruel attitude aside. “torturing animals for fun” and the kid in question looks distressed the whole time & a bunch of parallels indicate that he was trying to free the rabbit, but god forbid we look beneath our first surface impressions, right?

and also, the whole “before the lab” thing makes me insane because it acts like everything in his life was fine prior to the lab. meanwhile, he talks about how he was treated as being broken PRIOR to the lab and how his mother despised him PRIOR to the lab and how she wanted to send him away to an abusive predator scientist PRIOR to the lab and that’s just the surface level shit let alone all of the subtext about what his life was like pre-lab.

and not only is it impossible for him to have been trancing victor and killing slice at the same time & theres so much weirdness there, even if he straight up murdered virginia and alice got killed as part of it, it’s not like it happened because He’s Inherently Bad And Evil. I think he was in the right to kill virginia!!!!! Like sorry but wanting to send him away to Brenner????? She had it coming. Alice didn’t, but again, there’s so much weirdness around that AND even if he did kill her, the whole thing could have been prevented if people (Virginia) weren’t trying to send him off to the lab/fix him.

Like it’s insane to me that people will watch Dart’s arc about how creatures from the UD aren’t inherently evil and how Dustin’s love made a huge impact on Dart and yet will also go “oh yep mhm the duffers wrote this Literal Human Child to be Evil and Bad and Broken and he Needs To Be Fixed but hes so broken that not even love can fix him”.

Like. Op is the one with the real lack of empathy here & I sure hope they don’t extend this viewpoint to the abused and autistic kids/people in their life. I don’t feel bad calling the tags dumb because they ARE dumb and literally factually inaccurate and they’re cruel and contributing to the stigma around people who are low empathy (and henry isn’t even low empathy).

Treehouse!Seteth :

I am, of course, Rhea's servant. So, in a more formal context, I must maintain a deferential distance.

After being called out for using Rhea's name without using honorifics - I mean, calling her by her name and not by her title - by Cyril, Seteth explains it's just an issue of context, and when he's formal, he always keeps a "deferential distance".

And when we see them in Nopes in the past, during Larva's paralogue, even as they were fighting, he was indeed very formal :

I cannot continue... I leave the rest in your hands, Lady Seiros!

(please don't mind the names lol).

But in JP :

かつての私は、レアに仕える者として 立場を弁えた言動を取る必要があった

Which was translated by Teaspoon translation as :

"Previously, as one who serves Rhea, I had to speak and act in a way befitting my position."

And yet, in the past, when he adressed Seiros - when she was the supposed de facto leader of the bunch - he called her like this :

セイロスの元には行かせんぞ！ くっ……これ以上は厳しいか。 セイロス、後は頼んだぞ！

There's no suffix - Flayn, I mean, Cethleann calls Seiros "セイロス様" with 様 being the -sama suffix... but Cichol has none of this.

There's no "Lady" Seiros for Cichol, no "deferential distance" whatsoever, he's just talking about his younger sibling relative.

IDK what this was changed, maybe with the different voice directions Treehouse thought Rhage and her hair-trigger temper should have a "second" who always show deference? And that would explain why Whitten was directed to voice a more "mellow" Seteth than Koyasu's?

Another example is in the Chapter 17 convo of Golden Shower, when Rhea announces her plan to lead a suicidal last stand in Tailtean, while Treehouse!Seteth finally calls her by her name, without any honorifics in the last line - as she told him she'll fight and only Sothis knows the outcome - but when she tells him "if anything happens, take Flayn and gtfo of Fodlan" basically asking him to abandon her if she dies or if the situation is dire, despite having the shocked portrait, Treehouse!Seteth says this :

Lady Rhea, you cannot mean that!

Jp!Seteth?

レア！？　それは……

His sister relative just told him she was ready to die and he and Flayn shouldn't follow her but live instead, Seteth drops all honorifics (even if there's a random monk nearby).

Tl;Dr : Jp!Seteth drops the honorifics more easily than Treehouse!Seteth when he's talking to his sister relative - I can only surmise the choice to emphatise his role as Rhea's second - but clearly under her authority - instead of his role as Rhea's advisor - only pretending to be under her authority when people are looking - had something to do with Rhage and the fact that even Seteth grows distrustful of her for player pandering and Hresvelg Grey reasons; granted, JP!Seteth being written the way he is written and yet still able to "disagree with the doctrine because CoS BaD under Rhea''s leadership for some reason" or having all his doubts/mistrust in WC/Tru Piss or even just wanting to find her "so she can reveal to Billy the circumstances behind their birth" feels even more artificial, but that's avatar pandering for you.

Tru Tl; Dr : JP!Nopes shows us how close the lizard fam is, deferential distance/"one who serves Rhea I had to speak in a way that befits my position" my rear, whenever they're talking about her security/safety/fighting, Seteth always calls Rhea by her "name of the moment", without adding any honorifics.
