Climbing Two 14ers

So in the spring of 2016, when I was in Colorado I met a few people who were avid hikers. I hiked every now and then but wasnt fully into it quite yet. They asked me if I wanted to climb two 14ers, I agreed. We were about to head up to Grey's and Torreys peak the elevation was 14280 feet above sea level at the peak.

So we get up pretty early around 6 am to get there early, looking back we should have started at least at 6. The saying to go by is up by 9 down by 2. Mainly because every day starting around 2 it starts thundering. So we start hiking first few miles were cool beautiful scenery. To give you a picture it was about a 5 mile hike from where we parked and we had to gain 5,000 ft we were literally walking straight up stairs.

So as we get up to about 13,000 feet you start realizing that there is less oxygen, like getting light headed from walking. Because it was one of my first big hikes I had to stop every 30 feet to breathe keep in mind I'm kind of a husky guy. It ended up taking us about 6-8 hours to get up this mountain.

As we started our decent we see these ominous black clouds, it took us 6ish hrs to get up it only took us about an hour to get back to the trail head and then another half hour to get back to the car. I would say there is nothing like being at the top of a mountain just sitting there looking at everything below you what an awesome experience.

As we were on our way up we saw wild mountain goats just chilling there. So cool.
