This artist chooses to remain anonymous. But through the years I was able to piece together that her real name is Kathrine, and goes by Rin. She is an artist from Canada. Her older youtube video on her channel is from October 2013.

The tools she used to draw on her computer was a wacom tablet and adobe photoshop.

December 2013 was when I was gifted an iMac and Wacom tablet to draw with and this was when I was online searching far and wide for digital artists on youtube that I could take inspiration from. Waffles was the only one that stuck.

EARLY WORK:

Early on she was posting videos of her digitally drawing fan art of characters from popular shows and movies while talking about her process. A lot of creators do this to create traction and to build an audience. She did mostly fan art for two years on her youtube channel. (so from 2013 - 2015)

THRIVING WORK:

In the year of 2015, the digital world of creativity grew on instagram and youtube, things like art challenges became popular and this is what helped her branch out of only drawing fan-art and being able to into character design as well as tutorial videos. This is when she grew the most, her art style continued to develop and more comfortable to her and her confidence in each stroke really gave me confidence and inspired me at the time.

CURRENT WORK:

Not long after her thriving in the digital art world, she let her community know that she suffered from vasculitis, an auto-immune disease that attacks her blood vessels, which can cause some serious fatigue and pain, the treatment causing her hands to shake. The thing that makes Rin so amazing is her commitment to her passion. She never wanted to stop drawing, she continued to make videos in between hospital visits and treatments. I'm sure it broke her heart that to draw digitally for a prolonged time became painful for her, it was an adjustment for her and her audience (even me!) to have a sudden change of content. Although she would sometimes draw digitally, she hardly does it as in-depth as she did in the past. As shes forced to do more traditional media, she explored and learned all sorts of materials such as watercolour, acrylics, pencils. She always shared her learning process with her audience, even returning to medias that she felt like she was awful at to try and improve. She believed in trying to draw each day to continue improving yourself even if its a small doodle in a daily planner.

It's been almost a year since her last youtube and instagram post. Unfortunately due to her anonymity, none of her fans are able to find out if she is still ok... and i think i might cry honestly. A Reddit thread full of fans talking about her being MIA claims that a couple of months ago she has told someone that her illness is no longer in remission in an email.

I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl Fanart Showcase!🌟🌌✨

The upcoming project, Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl created by @kianamaiart has become a spark of interest on many people including myself. It's always a treat to see the amount of fanart coming from this project with how much people are excited for the final product and how there's also been sort of a community growing from it. We've already got headcanons brewing! For those who don't know, you're probably thinking, 'What on earth is I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl?' Well, the project is an animatic pilot planned to release some time soon. The story focuses on a girl named, Aika (voiced by Anairis Quinones) completely fine with her normal life until she's met by a magical star being, Hoshi (voiced by Christine Marie Cabanos) sent to Earth to find "The Chosen One" and I'm pretty sure you already know where this leads. While most ordinary girls would jump at the chance to have magical abilities, Aika sits right back down and curses the planet. No way in hell does she want to be a magical girl! Even when evil forces are approaching. However, world domination isn't a pretty sight so she has no choice but to step up and save the world.

The pilot will also include interesting characters like Aika's friend, Zira (voiced by Bennet Abara) who is a very smart young lady and a fan of her favorite manga (Moon Sailor). We then have Eclipse (voiced by Aleks Le) as a flamboyant and theatrical "Servant of Darkness" to the main antagonist. The antagonist being Lady DeVoid (voiced by Shara Kirby) who's out for revenge on the Star Guardian who crossed her so many years ago all while spreading particles of darkness wherever her minions go. There will also be additional characters, Sidney The Kidney Girl (voiced by Marieve Herington) and Miss (voiced by Michele Knotz) included in the cast as well.

I for one am very excited for the project to be released because it's such a fun premise while also subverting expectations. It also helps that this fuels my Magical Girl heart. Now, let's get to the fanart! As much as I wanted to showcase all of them, we know that would've been a hassle in itself. I gathered the ones I've seen and loved so much to celebrate Kianamaiart's success and also showing some love to the fans and community who are also proud. You're all so very talented and that goes for the people who made art pieces that didn't show up in this post. Never stop being creative! Let's all be magical together....or not and do whatever Aika feels like doing.

Why is it that it's so common amongst fandom or consumption-based culture is to cry over how bored you are, but when there's countless amount of unofficial content being made by neurodivergent or create a fans, it's looked over or "doesn't count?"

So much of American culture is so many people disregarding the entirety of thecreativity spirit, and existence of other people and only focusing on the rich and the already successful just because that's "just the way that it is".

Because those are the only people that should be worth paying attention to just because they have that big flashing a logo on their television screen, right? Same thing for writing original stories.

This is one of the countless reasons why I no longer have any respect or interest in anyone in fandom culture because it's always the same thing.

"I'm bored, and I want my favorite media to come out with new content. All this fan content that's coming out constantly is worthless and not worth the same amount of excitement or enjoyment just because it's not official, or just because it's projected differently, not to mention the countless amount of original content that's also coming out on top of that that also isn't published by a TV screen. What a shame that that specific talent or creativity is the only thing that's worth consuming to make me feel alive. Everyone else creating around me every minute of every day can't possibly ever make me feel the same way. Now I'm just dead and bored all the time."

People like that, which is most consumers, deserve to feel dead. If you're disregarding the human life and the creativity happening around you just because you're too brainwashed to offer anybody else's attention or the same amount of respect or excitement, then yeah, you're going to live a boring life. Ignore resources and you're going to suffer the consequences.p

It screams cattle sheep. It screams that people deserve to be bored and to be spiritualess dead and lifeless and unspecial. Because when all you ever do is just consume and pay attention to only the already privileged people that you were told to are the only ones that matter, of course that's what you're going to end up feeling; bored complacent and spiritually dead, instead of taking the literal constant amount of life and creativity that happens around you.

Carrot Ironfoundersson, concept, stage 2

With the characters face signed off by thecreative director, I've moved onto the character sculpt.

First steps are VisDev for the silhouette of the body as a whole. I went through a few loose sketches, again to dial in the holistic style language.

We moved forward with the shape on the bottom left corner, pushing the asset to something ready for use as a reference in modeling. I knew I wanted to explore most of the nuancein 3d, so I kept the reference loose, instead of a more robust orthographic turnaround.

I delivered this before getting into the modeling.
