Castaway AU Headcanons

If Lena ended up with anyone part of the group, it would be James. They would live in the suburbs of Metropolis, and have a beautiful family together. They'd be good to each other, for each other.

The search almost killed Lena, before the others got her help. She took poor care of herself in her manic need to get Kara back, even after a year had come and gone. The guilt was too much. The loss was too much. She had to be hospitalized, and got psychological treatment. They plant the seeds of moving on, and even Alex eventually admits that it's time to move on, that Kara wouldn't want them to suffer like this indefinitely.

But it's not until James comes into the picture that Lena actually eases off. The difference is that instead of telling Lena to stop, he just kind of... supports her. Brings her food and conversation like he did during Reign. Eventually convinces her that a walk outside would do her good. A visit to the zoo or the movies, before going back to work finding Kara.

Little by little, Lena starts to improve as she lets Kara go in increments, until the time comes she's ready to let go entirely and move to Metropolis.

The anniversaries of Kara's disappearance always hit hard, always slams Lena with guilt and shame and heartbreak, but James helps her through them, by then a fixture of support in Lena's life-- a partner.

Their coming together is easy and organic, built through love and respect and understanding. They share the loss of losing Kara, but they also share a new life after Kara, a family.

When the call comes that Kara's returned, Lena goes numb. The phone slips from her hand with a clatter, catching the attention of her two oldest kids.

"Mommy?" the younger one, her daughter asks.

"Mom? Everything okay?" asks the eldest brother. Lena doesn't answer, already disassociating. The eldest recognizes it and immediately calls for James. "DAD!!"

James thunders down the stairs in alarm, spots Lena, and scoops up the phone. "Who is this?" he demands.

"James, it's Alex," comes the response. "Kara came home."

James looks at Lena, and finds that same heartbroken horror that had lived in Lena's eyes all those years ago in National City, a horror now compounded by the life and family built around them.

My brother and I were talking about the theory that Crocodile is trans. Okay. I will admit that him and Ivan have some history together. Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing out that theory. BUT the theory that Crocodile was/is Luffy's mother is what I don't understand. I mean, Luffy told him his full name. Full damn name. If Crocodile WAS/IS his mother, wouldn't he recognize the name? It's Dragon and Garp's last name. And he would've had a say in naming Luffy. So, how could he have been his mother? I don't think it's plausible. Yeah, he could be trans (I'm not partial to either side. If he is, great. If not, still okay), but I don't think he's Luffy's mom. But that is just my opinion. Hate it or like it. Doesn't matter to me.
