and obviously, now the follow-up questions to fuel further research are... who is our missing mystery man blond part of a copaganda duo who is just so Perfect, just so Content, just so Well-Organized and on top of extremely pedestrian home security measures (i won't name names, hutch), that he fills our much-desired carries keys / has enough keys square? does such an exemplary man exist (on television fictionally in a buddy cop show with blond hair)??

some combination of @actingcamplibrarian's advent calendar fic (hidden in plain sight) and @redgoldblue's recent due south watch has got me thinking about starsky and hutch's hutch canonically not carrying the key to his own apartment but hiding it on top of the doorframe vs. due south's rayk in mountie on the bounty naming the whole bundle of keys he's carrying, telling fraser that the ones he's holding up are, in order, the keys to his old car, to his apartment, to his old apartment, to his locker, and "don't know. ... don't know", meaning that at any time he has at least six keys on him of which four are either obsolete or entirely a mystery, and that's while they were looking for a seventh key (to ray's handcuffs). i don't have a point here except i guess. the blond part of a buddy cop duo. he'll either carry zero keys (bad) or ALL the keys (also unfortunate).

Read a post earlier today talking about how "Sorry I'm late" may be about a pregnancy, and I am not negating it - because speculations and all. (Madney speaking imo)

But I think buddie-wise, if it does happen - I think that the "I'm sorry I'm late" part is about Eddie and Buck actually being late - late to realize, late to do something about it, late to be together, at least this season.

I have a feeling that Eddie may actually start the next season in isolation, medically speaking, like maybe he gets infected by something and in true NCIS LA and H50 Style, he will be in actual isolation.

Another near death experience, with a whole new outlook on life, hopefully, would give him and Buck who would probably, naturally, be the one to look after Christopher in the meantime, time to reflect about new realizations and time to miss each other in a whole new way.

Just a thought.

I also wonder if Eddie's family will find out about Buck getting Christopher just in case something happens to Eddie, before Eddie gets hurt or after.

Because that would also explain the "reset" button so to speak, there is no way his parents would see it with a kind eye.

okay, I'm going to count distinct chapters of the advent calendar for this. in no particular order and subject to mood change:

When You're Loving Me (That's When I'm Loving You) (NCIS: LA) - I cited this as a contender for my favourite fic I've written a couple months ago, so obviously it has to go in the year's. what can i say, fake dating is an immaculate trope, and this also all came onto the page very easily which is always vaguely miraculous.

there you go pulling me right back in (H50) - sometimes vague prompts i've had down for ages write up as something that's. fine, but a bit clunky, and I just have to move on bc it's the advent calendar and a new fic each day. sometimes I start writing them and they spring into life with joyous delight. or in this case, uninhibited grumpiness and love.

singing yesterday's songs wishing i could be with you tonight (MASH) - the one that didn't make it into the top 5 kudosed, I assume partially due to being locked and partially due to being a serious tone, not terribly shippy, and Peg POV. But I've had some version or other of it for a long time, it's one of those stories I'm genuinely proud of, and I was glad to finally post it.

Totally Normal (Due South) - it's fun. it was fun. I was slightly nervous about it, because the only prior Due South thing I'd written was Dief POV and this was Fraser and RayK POV and the first time writing either of those, but it turns out watching + liveblogging four and two seasons, respectively, of a character in four months is. enough to cement their voices in my head. it was unexpectedly easy and also. fun.

Festive Spice (MUNCLE) - i just think it epitomises the advent calendar. in the words of coolbreezemage, 'yesssss bake cakes and kiss your partner'.

Finding A Cure In You (S&H) - this doesn't make it to the above list due to the fact that I haven't actually managed to reread it since I posted it. but just for the amount of time I spent with it, how different it is to my usual M.O. of writing, and the weird way I wrote it (entirely in the notes app, with almost zero rereading while writing), I have to somehow mention it.

A Thousand Words / To Be Spared (Good Omens) - I don't know if they're favourite but I do think they're good. and the format of to be spared was pleasingly experimental and i think it worked.

vague thoughts: i'd like to write a full-length (for whatever value of that. the AC ones actually were full-length, especially the second one, but what I really mean is AC-independent) due south fic. they're very weird and i enjoyed writing them, and I'd also like to write something with RayV in it. maybe if I successfully inspired @itwoodbeprefect to write new ds, when she does that it will inspire me to write something, and we can set up a ping-pong game. no, wait, that's mixing fandoms.

I expect more MUNCLE fic. this one's already 3.5k and rocketing along, and i'm only two-thirds of the way through season 1. what form that will take i don't know at this stage but we'll see.

....i was discussing the vague concept of house/h50 crossover fic with squares literally yesterday and on the one hand I haven't written a crossover since 2014 and also don't want that to be my legacy, but on the other hand i think there is at least a 50% chance it's going to stick in the back of my brain and keep niggling.

I was talking to my brother about crossovers and how they have to be done well. Enough so people who don’t watch the other show don’t get lost and become curious about the other show.

And then we talked about h50 and the crossovers it had.

NCIS: LA worked for me because it had Danny. I would watch NCIS:la if it came on TV after.

The crossover with magnum pi did the opposite and I refuse to watch it now. It had no Danny which was a crime. And more so it shoved two hetero versions of McDanno and made the relationship crucial part of the dynamic and still denied me canon McDanno despite all the canon shit they’ve been through. So bitterly, I associate magnum negatively and have no intention of ever watching.

I'm so tame these days I hardly reach the Explicit rating. But there's bdsm, blood play etc back there since I used to write Spike/Angel and Riddick AUs.

I've a couple I think, the one I remember is Torchwood/Angel the series.

Yeah, nothing saved but back in Livejournal days and before that on message boards rooms, kinda like discord.

Writing wise I think Spike/Angel, it used to be so easy to write a ficlet here and there. They've got such massive shared history to dig into.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Dom/Brian werewolf AU. There's also a Spike/Angel that's nearly finished and something gets stuck every time I try and finish it. But hey, I finished my NCIS LA fic series, it only took me 10+ years so who knows. I just need my brain back, there's too much in ny life rn.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Character's voices? I have no idea but that's how every story starts in my head, these dialogues that I then have to build around which isn't my strong suit. But just cause I feel like I've got their voices right doesn't mean they ring true in someone's else's ears.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plotting and research. The overarching idea for a giant plot always falls apart on the nitty gritty for me. Either I lose momentum and start hating the story, or the nitty gritty becomes like reading a factual add-on. And research stumps me because see previous, I've a hard time picking out what the reader's need to follow along the story and not take them out of the story with too many facts.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't know if I ever have?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Pitch Black I think. Or Angel/Spike.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I still think the old SGA McShep ficlets Rainy days/When the rain lets up but that could be because it was such good fun to be apart of that fandom and I remember enjoying writing that.

Answering to your tags: yeah, there are two episodes in this crossover. That one from h50 episodes list (2x21) seems to be more popular in our fandom (well, no surprise here cause we all watched h50 and not all watched NCIS or not all knew about the second part of Touch of death - though if I remember correctly there was some info in the end of Hawaiian part that the case would be continued in NCIS 🤔). You mentioned that you haven't seen NCIS part (3x21) yet so, huh, please let me recommend it to you 😉 Oh come on, there's Danny. And Chino. And there's a tiny moment about Danny's poor/bad life with Rachel/her family 😢 And there's Hetty and her interaction with Danny (it's hilarious, by the way! 😂). And it's generally funny to watch whole NCIS team interacting with our Five-0 😊

Touch of death (h50 2x21 & NCIS LA 3x21 crossover episodes) and... Three times when Danny Williams felt like a suspect 😉

Just realized that Steve isn't in any of the H50 crossover episodes. Hes not in the NCIS LA because of Alex's health at the time. The MacGyver episode that crossed over into H50 only had Chin and Kono. Even though Steve apparently knows both And Jack. Will he be in the Magnum crossover I wonder. Pretty sure Lenkov is going the same route with the whole "oh look Steve served with him too" with Thomas. So I'm pretty sure he'll be in it? Maybe? Guess we'll see.

So the power cord for my laptop has kind of bit the dust and is no longer working so my laptop can’t charge and the battery is dead in it so I need a new power cord or a new laptop. Right now I am sharing my mom’s computer until I can afford to get my own again and right now I have no idea when that will be. So I was considering possibly taking comissions for rp icons to help pay for either a new cord or a new laptop. That is if people would be interested in that.

I make my icons using photoscape because I’m still learning with photoshop and am not comfortable enough with photoshop yet to make icons for people using that. So therefore I will be using photoscape.

I’m also kind of picky about shows and movies that I will icon. Basically it will have to be something I can get screencaps for.
