Bullets and Broken Glass | G Callen | NCIS: Los Angeles
Tumblr media
No.26: Curse
Callen knew from a young age that some people were meant to be alone, that some were forever cursed to solitude, that some people did not deserve to be loved. For a long time he thought that he was one of those people.
And then he met her.
Agent (Y/N) (L/N) crashed into his life with a series of bullets and broken glass. She was on an undercover operation, sent in from the NCIS basis in Washington D.C, nobody in the L.A office knew that she was here. Hetty had a field day talking to Vance about her presence and her abrupt gatecrashing of their own operation.
It didn't take long for Callen to know he wanted her on his team; it also didn't take long to convince her Los Angeles wasn't so bad. Despite his reliance on his partnership with Sam, Callen always cherished the days where he ended up with her in the field instead. It took him months to realise that the ease and trust he felt with her was something more than a professional friendship.
He had never truly be in love before, so much so he didn't even clock onto the feeling until he found himself wrecked by another nightmare and he found himself driving to her apartment, craving her presence. He also did not realise that he confessed his love for her at her doorstep not even twenty minutes after.
Callen hadn't expected to have the pieces of his life fall into place shortly after. Everything started to make sense; he did not believe in fate, but even he would acknowledge that something greater was at play to send something so divine to him.
He should've known that it wouldn't have lasted forever.
He lost her the same way he had found her, with bullets and broken glass. Nobody had expected the operation to go wrong, the building was meant to have been abandoned weeks ago; they were just scoping out the place to see if anything valuable had been left behind.
They were right, the building was deserted, but the neighbouring rooftop was not. The glass window next the the staircase gave the sniper a clear and direct view to (Y/N). Nobody noticed the red dot hovering on the back of her head until she crumpled to the ground. She died before she hit the floor.
It took a few moments for Callen to notice that she hadn't dodged the attack. He had assumed she had dove for shelter when the gunshot fired. As soon as he clocked on to what had happened, he rushed to her side, pulling her body into his as if that would bring her back.
The crunching of the glass around him caused him to lift his head away from her. Sam, Kensi, and Deeks all stood there, looks of pity on their faces. Callen looked down at her again, not letting himself believe what had happened.
Eventually the M.E came and took her body away. Sam took Callen back to the office and they both sat in silence. It took a while, but he stood up again and moved to the locker room where he stripped out of his ruined clothes and into the showers where he washed her blood from his skin.
Callen stood under the water for a while. He couldn't help but blame himself. He could not love anything without it being destroyed. Maybe if he hadn't of loved her then she would have lived. Deep down he knew that her death had nothing to do with him, but as his thoughts circled on the diamond ring he had planned to give her this evening, Callen couldn't help but feel cursed.

TLT Chapter Two
Karma Catches Up
TW: Swearing, arguing between siblings, injury(although no gore), general angst, mentions of death
Story under the cut!!
If Blaire was anything, it was a show-off. Being the youngest, he always had a knack for putting on a show, and he always would. So, no wonder why his siblings hated sending the newly-minted 17-and-a-half-year-old out on borrowing missions by himself. His older brother, Callen would give him a lecture at the table on why he shouldn’t do what he does in the first place, and his older sister, Jayci would most certainly just sock him in the jaw and call him a stupid bastard.
But hey! That was the magic of it. Pissing off his siblings, his favorite activity. So, what was the harm in sneaking out for just one night for...practices sake. He’d only been outside a few times alone, and 9 out of 10 times, it ended in disaster, or at least close to disaster. Disaster was exhilarating, though. Besides, not like he would ever be caught, anyway.
He had a small glass mirror shard propped up in his humble abode, so he used that to stare at his reflection. He gripped the sides of the shard, leaning forwards with a smug grin he almost couldn’t contain, tail swaying casually behind him.
Blaire pushed off the shard and grabbed a stray piece of yellow thread, using it to tie his hair into a low ponytail, which draped over his shoulder. He scowled, flipping it to behind his back before stretching, popping the bones in his back.
What could he bring...what could he bring. This solo mission was risky, but Blaire loved risk. Although, he’d certainly need to bring at least something. A rope was obvious, but he had lost his only weapon, a mouse bone carved into a dagger with a wooden dowel hilt. He didn’t know where it was, but it was most likely somewhere in the human house. If he could bring it back on his mission...
He tried to think of where he last left it as he gathered the rope, tying it on the belt around his waist. He patted the side, making sure it was secure, backing up and flopping back on his matchbox bed, staring at the ceiling.
Tonight. He would do it tonight, so he still had at least an hour to burn. He sighed forlornly, looking towards his door.
“BLAIRE.” Jayci’s voice shouted from the main room. She had perfected the art of screaming at him, while still being quiet enough so the humans would be none the wiser. He sat up, craning his head towards her voice.
“Mmmmmyeah?” He questioned, a sarcastic question in his tone. He heard Jayci’s footsteps and she stormed into his room, crossing her arms.
“Want to repeat what I told you before!?” Oh great. Not THIS again... Blaire groaned, rubbing his eyes, reciting the statement that was burned into his memory at this point.
“Don’t leave matches beside the scaffolding in the walls, I know, Jayjay. Don’t need to remind me.”
“I DO need to remind you because WHY DID I FIND THREE OF THEM THERE!?” She rose her voice again and Blaire stood up, stretching dramatically, yawning and huffing through his nose.
“Okay, no need to get your tail in a twist. I’ll go move them, don’t worry.” He scowled, crossing his arms and shoving past her as she stood, watching him leave, her tail lashing furiously.
Blaire passed Callen, who gave him a wave, and he waved back, exiting through the front door, walking to the area where he had left the matches.
Once left alone, he could finally let his demeanor falter. He exhaled solemnly, hugging his arms close to his chest, rubbing his arm. How could he be so stupid again!? He didn’t like when Jayci yelled at him but...it was inevitable...he was the troublemaker, after all. It was all he was ever good for.
He shook his head, tightening the string holding up his hair as he walked faster. Eventually, he stood over the matches, which had fallen and now laid in a sad heap on the floor. He sighed, picking one up, hoisting it over his shoulder, moving it away from its dangerous spot beside the flammable scaffolding. He did that with the two others, eventually having to drag the last one because he couldn’t carry it anymore.
Brushing the sawdust onto his pants, he realized something. The closest exit led right into the human boy’s bedroom. The human had multiple shelves and surfaces Blaire could practice his agility on...it was perfect. And the boy most likely wasn’t in the room, anyway. His plan was coming together, and it was pretty damn good.
There was a pep in his step as he made his way back home, strolling through the door, plastering on the usual sneaky grin. Jayci glanced up from the table, scowling up at him from where she sat. He rolled his eyes, walking past her, grabbing his borrowing bag from the hook.
“Where are you going?” Callen piped up, his quiet tone cutting through the silence. Blaire turned to him, pausing for a split second, trying to think of a half-convincing lie, biting his bottom lip in thought.
Callen didn’t seem to care as much as he appeared to, however, and simply shrugged, turning away from him and returning to his solo game of whatever nerd game he was playing today. Blaire didn’t exactly care.
“I’ll be back by tonight, bye!” The borrower teen shouted as he burst out the door, racing for the nearest exit into the human house.
He shoved a loose bit of wall aside, and emerged on one of the higher shelves in the human’s room, observing the area with his arms crossed. Of course, the coast was clear. His features cracked into an excitable grin.
This was almost too easy. He unhooked his rope from his belt, swinging it to the shelf on the other side of the wall. Sure enough, it gave a small stop, and Blaire pulled back on it to make entirely sure it was secure. It was, and he took a running start, before launching himself off the shelf.
He was freefalling, and it felt good. Flying through the air, he felt genuinely free.
Until he wasn’t. There was a loud snap, and he suddenly crashed face-first into a hard wooden surface. A crack sounded behind him and a jolt of pain ran its way up his ankle like he was just shocked by a battery. He bit his lip until he tasted blood to keep from screaming, crawling into a sitting position, clutching his ankle.
He didn’t know what happened, but it was clear karma for something. And now...he was dead meat. He gingerly tapped at his ankle...of course, it was busted. Sprained, or possibly worse. He groaned in pain, tears erupting from his eyes and clouding his vision as he crawled over to hide behind an odd silver platform that was laid on the dresser. He laid down, staring up at the ceiling. His rope was gone, so was his pride. He was, in a word, finished.
If the human didn’t kill him, he’d certainly be chewed out until he burst, spilling all of the information he had. He dragged his hands down his face, groaning, trying to ignore the pain in his ankle as footsteps were heard entering the room.
Most of the time, footsteps wouldn’t bother him. But, being injured and unable to walk, it worried the hell out of him. Being honest, he was scared out of his wits. A pitiful thing to be...borrowers weren’t supposed to be scared. They were supposed to be courageous. Thats what he heard, anyway.
So, he tried to be what he deemed was courageous. Which clearly didn’t end too well...this time around, anyway. He almost didn’t process the voices of two humans talking.
One sounded a lot like the boy, and the other one must be his mother, who was gone at night most of the time, for some reason. She always came back exhausted and ready to pass out whenever her face hit the pillow, so she was deemed not much of a problem by the family within the walls.
But the boy...was another story. He was observant, almost a bit too observant, with that constant deer-in-the-headlights expression on his face, framed by ridiculous looking glasses. Blaire was small, sure, but at least he wasn’t cursed with those horrid things glued to his face.
No, he was cursed with a doomed future, which probably ended with him being stabbed by a syringe and dying a hauntingly peaceful death, something that was most certainly deserved, considering his self-destructive nature, but he didn’t want to die, did he?
He was ripped out of his thoughts when he felt his only cover move away and giant eyes falling upon his form.
He scrambled into an awkward sitting position, and did the first thing that came to mind.
He screamed.
END NOTES
Saying this chapter KILLED me would be an understatement. It was SUUUPER hard to get Blaire written right, since this is also his introductory chapter, but I did it! He's an egotistical loser, unfortunately, but he will be OKAY!!!

Ncis LA
I just started this show a little bit ago, I’m on season 5 now. The first season was like really REALLY hard to get through it was very boring and the pacing sucked but I powered through it cause I’d seen clips and it seemed different in later seasons especially when Deeks came on. I was right, he brought a light and energy to the show that wasn’t there before.
The show is ok for the most part, the banter is decent between Sam and Callen but neither of those guys can act and I love LL Cool J, first saw him in Deep Blue Sea (love that movie). Hetty is entertaining to a point but I feel link the whole mysterious badass old woman thing is really overdone and she gets a free pass on too much especially when she holds a lot of information back, especially from Callen when he only wants to know about his family. Eric and Nell are ok but we know next to nothing about them, most of all Eric and he’s been there since day one. Don’t know about his family or anything. We know more about Nell and see her more often.
Nate annoyed me at first cause I didn’t get what the point of him was but maybe that’s because I’ve seen criminal minds and other shows already factor in the profiling aspect before this. Now I can tolerate him cause he comes and goes every season.
I’m honestly only watching now for Deeks and Kensi.

I would love a tv show based on Hetty’s origin story. It could follow Hetty’s OG team during the Cold War. It could have a young Owen Granger, young AJ Chegwidden, Sterling Bridges, Harris Keane, and Charles Langston.
My idea is that it opens with modern Hetty telling the story before she dies, maybe tired of all the secrets. The show could focus on the Clandestine Unit.
